HEADCANONS

1.) After the events of 'Glee' Dave tried his best to pull himself from the depression that always seemed to find him. While he loved his hometown and the friends he did have there, he also came to realize very shortly after graduation, followed by his breakup with Blaine Anderson, that in order to do just that he needed to get away from the very place he loved. Deciding on what he wanted to do as a career, Dave applied to the University of Chicago. His acceptance came shortly after, and he began to prepare himself for his departure. He shared his plans with very few- his father, and the few people in his inner-circle. Other than that, he simply disappeared from Lima one day.

2.) The transition from such a small town into a city like Chicago was more than a culture shock for Dave, but one he took to in virtually no time. There were always things he missed about home, and there were more than a few days during which he wished someone from his hometown would manage to make their way into Illinois, but overall Dave was happy with the change. In Chicago he wasn't followed by the shadow and weight of what had happened in Lima. He was finally able to be himself, fully, unapologetically, and in ways he'd only been able to dream of in OH. After undertaking an accelerated program track, Dave graduated from the University of Chicago with honors and a double-Bachelors Degree in English and History in only 3 years.

3.) Once he graduated Dave tried to figure out what it was he wanted to do. Taking a job at a publishing company in the city as an editor. While he liked the ease and low-stress aspects of the job, it wasn't something he absolutely loved doing. After six months with the company, Dave applied to graduate school overseas, at the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, UK. Within the month he received his acceptance into their Masters of English Studies program, and began his preparation for a huge transition for the second time in his life. It was with no regrets and no second-thought that Dave embarked for the UK, and he fell in love with more than just the continent during his time there. After graduating, again with Honors, he was sure that a proposal from his longtime-boyfriend Theo was on the horizon. What he got in its place, however, was hit in the face with the fact that Theo had been having an affair for nearly all three years of their relationship. When the chips had fallen, Theo had chosen the other man, leaving Dave brokenhearted, broke, and utterly alone.

4.) Within three months of their breakup, Dave had planned his relocation back to the states, unable to come to terms with the betrayal, at yet again ending up alone. After he left the UK he returned to Lima, taking a remote position with another publishing company (this one in New York), as well as a part-time distance-teaching position, helping non-native English Speakers the intricacies of the language. In some small way, Dave found himself grateful to have been back in Lima, because approximately four months after his move, his father suffered from a stroke. Despite not having planned to be in Ohio for more than a year total, Dave extended his trip by two and a half, up until his 28th birthday. That year, he learned that there was an open position with NYU, in their English department. His father's health and strength had almost nearly returned, and both he and his doctors reassured Dave they felt it was safe for him to live on his own once again. After deciding to hire a part-time Nurse to check in on his father a couple of times per week, Dave made yet another transition, into New York City.

CONNECTIONS

PAUL KAROFSKY & EMILY CALLOWAY-KAROFSKY [deceased] (PARENTS): Dave's mother Emily passed away when he was barely 13, leaving himself, Paul, and his siblings to muddle through the years relying on each other. While there were times in which their relationship proved tumultuous, ultimately the two are and have always been close. Dave stayed in Lima for 2 years after returning from the UK to care for his father, and pays for a part-time nurse to check in on him a few times per week. LILY & JAYDEN KAROFSKY (SIBLINGS): As the eldest brother, Dave has always tried to remain close with his younger siblings. While his mental health has interfered with those relationships on occasion, ultimately Dave loves his siblings more than just about anyone, and sees himself as their protector. BLAINE ANDERSON & THEO STRAYER (EX-BOYFRIENDS): Dave's split from Blaine was amicable- really, he'd known that no matter what, Blaine and Kurt seemed to have been cosmically destined for one another. He was happy for them, he was. But...That didn't manage to completely take the hurt. He's pretty over it now, and would welcome friendships with either. The split from Theo (now) occurred four years ago, though the wound is still pretty fresh to Dave. While he does his best to let go, and while he has (for the mostpart) fallen out of love with Theo, he can't help but to feel every bit of the silence that surrounds him every night as he lays down for sleep alone. KURT HUMMEL: After everything that happened, Dave and Kurt managed to cultivate a solid friendship, which has carried on into adulthood. They are both busy, but make it a point to meet up at least once every two weeks, to get coffee or dinner, catch up, and maintain the friendship. *Dave is open to close friendships with any other characters, just reach out!

Okay so this seems to be an unpopular opinion but I totally loved Blainofsky. David was so understanding and caring, he helped Blaine find himself again after he and Kurt broke up. Which I think is complete Bullshit, I used to be a hardcore Klaine shipper in the earlier seasons, but the more shit that happens the more I don’t think they should be together. One main point is both Blaine and Kurt keep hurting each other, and it’s a pretty toxic relationship. Blaine is obviously a kind of clingy guy who needs a lot of attention and love from whoever he’s dating and that’s okay. Kurt on the other hand likes a little bit of space which is totally okay too but their communication skills together are just terrible. So it started when Kurt thought him and Blaine weren’t doing that well so he started flirting with a random guy at a music store rather than actually talk to Blaine about how he feels. Then obviously Blaine feels betrayed and Kurt claims Blaine did the same with Sebastian (which isn’t true because you can see that Blaine tried brushing of Sebastian’s flirting multiple times even if they still hung out) And Kurt is totally flirting back with chandler. Anyway Blaine says that Kurt was right (which he wasn’t) and things are okay again even though it’s Blaine who made the effort to fix it while Kurt just fought about it. Fast forward to when Kurt is leaving and he seems to be neglecting thinking about what might happen to him and Blaine, and Blaine is obviously upset about it. I mean Kurt does have a point with all the college stress but he could have at least checked in with Blaine. Anywaay they get through that then Kurt gets a Job at Vogue and all that Jazz, and he seems to only talk about Rachel and His lives rather than asking Blaine anything about how high school is. It carries on to Kurt actively ignoring Blaine’s calls rather than being busy, which is basically Kurt neglecting his boyfriend’s feelings yet again. (Again Blaine obvi needs some serious attention) So Blaine cheats and that is totally on Blaine in no way was it okay for him to cheat but then again THEY SUCK AT COMMUNICATING THEIR EMOTIONS. Because everytime something goes to shit its the same thing Blaine being extra needy and Kurt neglecting him or just neglecting to talk to him. Obviously Blaine should have also tried to communicate his emotions better. But then again as you can see in the scenes when he did try to talk Kurt just cut him off. (I’m not Kurt bashing seriously I think Kurt is an amazing character and an amazing friend but there was something seriously wrong with Klaine). Anyway Fast forward again, Kurt forgives Blaine surprisingly easy in my opinion and they get engaged (the exact thing he told rachel not to do) but anyway he said yes (Yay). Timeskip they’re in NY and Kurt thinks Blaine is suffocating him and they agree that Blaine should move out even though you can see Blaine was devastated, but he understood it was for the better of the relationship, and honestly yeah I kinda agree with Kurt that people need space. BUt he didnt really have to start a fight about it and basically imply that Blaine was not welcome by saying “MY HOME”. Blaine moves out they get better and that’s great, then Blaine starts having body image issues that he so does not communicate well and Kurt starts a fight with him and Calls Blaine annoying. (tbh if anyone i’m dating says i’m annoying I’d cry and tell them to leave immediately). Then there’s that whole debacle with June and Blaine risked everything just to make sure Kurt got to sing along and it was rlly cute. Another Time Skip, Kurt Breaks off their engagement because he needs space...again and then he claims that they are kids and the entire thing again implies that Blaine is a little too clingy for Kurt’s taste which begs the question (WHY ARE THEY DATING WHEN THEY AREN’T COMPATIBLE?) Blaine is heartbroken and he flunks out of NYADA (and honestly even though they broke up I can’t imagine that Kurt would just let that happen he isn’t that kind of guy so I thought that was kinda weird.) Soo Blaine moves back home starts dating Dave who helps him kind of put the pieces of his broken heart back together. And Dave is so sweet and caring with Blaine and he really did help him see the good in Kurt again and he was so understanding and supportive throughout everything. Honestly, I know that a lot of people haven’t forgiven Karofsky but he had an entire redemption arc, and I’m not saying that excuses everything but his character development was great. Anyway I think Blaine should have stayed with Karofsky because they seemed adorable together and Dave seemed to give Blaine all the attention he needed. I think Kurt should have ended up with someone who could understand that he needed his space and his boundaries without that being an issue for them, because that was obviously an issue for Blaine. Anyway throughout this entire post I was bashing on anyone I just genuinely think that early Klaine was cute but the more it progressed the more fucked up it genuinely got. They both deserve to be happy and it’s obvious that they loved each other but that isn’t all it takes, and I don’t think they should have gotten back together. Blaine cheated and honestly I don’t think Kurt should have forgave him for that and Kurt ripped Blaine’s heart out when he ended things between them and I don’t think that’s something that should have been forgiven either because as Blaine said it “i’ll never forgive you for this” SO yes this is one long ass rant but I loved Blainofsky and I want Kurt to be happy but I don’t think Klaine is the way to go. (i’m talking abt the Major Klaine issues obvi they’ve been through a lot of shit together as well but still)

Share one of your strengths.

Okay I had to ask @snarkyhag​ because this made me feel like it was a job interview. Here's what she said: "Strengths = being able to fold nuanced ideas into a scene through looks and just the right dialogue. When you characters connect, they do so in a masterful way. Weakness = being too awesome."

Share one of your weaknesses.

I struggle a lot with connecting my ideas. Putting the scenes that I can see so clearly in my head together in ways that make sense and move the story forward is challenging. @snarkyhag​ will tell you that I don't use em dashes the way that I ought to.

Which fic has been the hardest to write?

"A Wedding: Production Draft" took me about 14 months to write and every word felt like pulling teeth. I knew what I wanted to write, but getting it into words and the format that I wanted was excruciating. Plus it was my first fic that I had written in this fandom and I had a lot insecurity around posting it.

Which fic has been the easiest to write?

Fic writing is never particularly easy for me - I'm a slow, deliberate writer. That said, setting a goal to write every day meant that I saw steady progress in Once Upon a Time and it made it much more easy to write a 30K word story.

Is writing your passion or just a fun hobby?

Just a hobby for which I don't have nearly enough time to devote to it.

Is there an episode or character or arc above all others that inspires you just a little bit more?

Well, I've written two stories around the reunion scene in A Wedding and wouldn't be hard pressed to write another. Honestly, I love the fic potential of the season 6 break up (even more so than season 4), but when they choose to be together again: yes yes yes.

What’s the best writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Two bits of advice that I resonate with from this post. One: write by putting one word followed by another and write your story as it needs to be written as best as you can. (x)

I also like the advice here: Find something you love and write about it but also create a community with people who are writing what your love as well. (x)

What’s the worst writing advice you’ve ever come across?

Just ignore the advice about using "said" too much or not enough. Nobody can decide. Write it how it feels natural in your head.

If you could choose one of your fics to be filmed, which would you choose?

Well, I wrote "A Wedding: Production Draft" as if it was to be filmed. That said, I would love to see Once Upon a Time come to life. We need more LGBTQ fairy tale stories!

What’s your process? Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order? Do you use any tools, like worksheets or outlines? What are the perfect writing conditions for you?

So my process includes: thinking of the idea and then writing down whatever thoughts come to my head about it  - such as "okay, I really like the idea of an Emma AU. Kurt is obviously Emma which makes Blaine Mr. Knightly, but I don't want him to be older because that's not necessarily my kink? So how do I work the character so it better fits Blaine while staying true to the story? David Karofsky would make a fascinating "Harriet" character, with Kurt taking him on a project as he is newly out, etc." I do a lot of "okay, what exactly am I trying to do here? What's the story that I want to tell?" free writing in my documents that I then delete later.

I also attack @snarkyhag​ or @klaineharmony​ in their PM and ask them for their ideas and input because they are both fantastic storytellers and very encouraging. I find that working with betas to be helpful in my writing process because I can ask about my sticking spots and they can tell me where they were seeing the story flowing - and if I agree, it helps the story move along, and if I don't, I then have a place where I can take a closer look.

I then sit down and write and I write as the ideas come to me, so it tends to be mostly in order, but I've also written out of order as well. My latest WIP story (not the one above) I started writing from the beginning, but I've since decided that I want to alternate POVs in each chapter (Kurt followed by Blaine), so I've gone back and added additional scenes.

How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

I revise a lot while I'm writing, my beta usually has one go-through, I then will read through for their comments and make adjustments, and then I'll do one or two more slow read throughs to see if anything more catches my eye.

Kara Zor-el is thirteen when her world is destroyed. 24 years later, she is now Kara Danvers. She becomes Marley Rose at 15.

Both Barry and Kara have their pasts, but no one actually know their full stories. Read as characters from Glee and the Arrowverse are taken away from their lives to watch their stories and understand who they really are, underneath all the lies and masks they've used over the years.

Basically: The Heroes of the Arrowverse and the members of the New Directions and Warblers are brought together to watch clips from Barry and Kara's lives, in "semi-chronological order" (hopefully).

Okay so this seems to be an unpopular opinion but I totally loved Blainofsky. David was so understanding and caring, he helped Blaine find himself again after he and Kurt broke up. Which I think is complete Bullshit, I used to be a hardcore Klaine shipper in the earlier seasons, but the more shit that happens the more I don’t think they should be together. One main point is both Blaine and Kurt keep hurting each other, and it’s a pretty toxic relationship. Blaine is obviously a kind of clingy guy who needs a lot of attention and love from whoever he’s dating and that’s okay. Kurt on the other hand likes a little bit of space which is totally okay too but their communication skills together are just terrible. So it started when Kurt thought him and Blaine weren’t doing that well so he started flirting with a random guy at a music store rather than actually talk to Blaine about how he feels. Then obviously Blaine feels betrayed and Kurt claims Blaine did the same with Sebastian (which isn’t true because you can see that Blaine tried brushing of Sebastian’s flirting multiple times even if they still hung out) And Kurt is totally flirting back with chandler. Anyway Blaine says that Kurt was right (which he wasn’t) and things are okay again even though it’s Blaine who made the effort to fix it while Kurt just fought about it. Fast forward to when Kurt is leaving and he seems to be neglecting thinking about what might happen to him and Blaine, and Blaine is obviously upset about it. I mean Kurt does have a point with all the college stress but he could have at least checked in with Blaine. Anywaay they get through that then Kurt gets a Job at Vogue and all that Jazz, and he seems to only talk about Rachel and His lives rather than asking Blaine anything about how high school is. It carries on to Kurt actively ignoring Blaine’s calls rather than being busy, which is basically Kurt neglecting his boyfriend’s feelings yet again. (Again Blaine obvi needs some serious attention) So Blaine cheats and that is totally on Blaine in no way was it okay for him to cheat but then again THEY SUCK AT COMMUNICATING THEIR EMOTIONS. Because everytime something goes to shit its the same thing Blaine being extra needy and Kurt neglecting him or just neglecting to talk to him. Obviously Blaine should have also tried to communicate his emotions better. But then again as you can see in the scenes when he did try to talk Kurt just cut him off. (I’m not Kurt bashing seriously I think Kurt is an amazing character and an amazing friend but there was something seriously wrong with Klaine). Anyway Fast forward again, Kurt forgives Blaine surprisingly easy in my opinion and they get engaged (the exact thing he told rachel not to do) but anyway he said yes (Yay). Timeskip they’re in NY and Kurt thinks Blaine is suffocating him and they agree that Blaine should move out even though you can see Blaine was devastated, but he understood it was for the better of the relationship, and honestly yeah I kinda agree with Kurt that people need space. BUt he didnt really have to start a fight about it and basically imply that Blaine was not welcome by saying “MY HOME”. Blaine moves out they get better and that’s great, then Blaine starts having body image issues that he so does not communicate well and Kurt starts a fight with him and Calls Blaine annoying. (tbh if anyone i’m dating says i’m annoying I’d cry and tell them to leave immediately). Then there’s that whole debacle with June and Blaine risked everything just to make sure Kurt got to sing along and it was rlly cute. Another Time Skip, Kurt Breaks off their engagement because he needs space…again and then he claims that they are kids and the entire thing again implies that Blaine is a little too clingy for Kurt’s taste which begs the question (WHY ARE THEY DATING WHEN THEY AREN’T COMPATIBLE?) Blaine is heartbroken and he flunks out of NYADA (and honestly even though they broke up I can’t imagine that Kurt would just let that happen he isn’t that kind of guy so I thought that was kinda weird.) Soo Blaine moves back home starts dating Dave who helps him kind of put the pieces of his broken heart back together. And Dave is so sweet and caring with Blaine and he really did help him see the good in Kurt again and he was so understanding and supportive throughout everything. Honestly, I know that a lot of people haven’t forgiven Karofsky but he had an entire redemption arc, and I’m not saying that excuses everything but his character development was great. Anyway I think Blaine should have stayed with Karofsky because they seemed adorable together and Dave seemed to give Blaine all the attention he needed. I think Kurt should have ended up with someone who could understand that he needed his space and his boundaries without that being an issue for them, because that was obviously an issue for Blaine. Anyway throughout this entire post I was bashing on anyone I just genuinely think that early Klaine was cute but the more it progressed the more fucked up it genuinely got. They both deserve to be happy and it’s obvious that they loved each other but that isn’t all it takes, and I don’t think they should have gotten back together. Blaine cheated and honestly I don’t think Kurt should have forgave him for that and Kurt ripped Blaine’s heart out when he ended things between them and I don’t think that’s something that should have been forgiven either because as Blaine said it “i’ll never forgive you for this” SO yes this is one long ass rant but I loved Blainofsky and I want Kurt to be happy but I don’t think Klaine is the way to go. (i’m talking abt the Major Klaine issues obvi they’ve been through a lot of shit together as well but still)
