Headcanon {𝐿𝑜𝓇𝑒𝓃𝓏𝑜}

One of my favorite things that I have noticed about Lorenzo and the Medici is that Lorenzo picks up his kids when they are little. Like they would run to him, and he wouldn't just hug them, no, he would pick them up and hold them. He wants to be a dad, he wanted to be a dad.

Lorenzo loved his kids, even his sons, even Piero, he just lost sight of how to be a dad. Okay, he lost sight of how to be a good person, but that's not the point.

Okay so...I have a lot of thoughts about Maddalena cause well...reasons

Maddalena is both her father's and her mother's daughter. She I think is pretty evenly split between resembling both of them. She learned politics from her father, how to keep Florence safe, and how to look after the people. She learned her kindness, her decorum and her want to help people from her mother and a lot of things from both her parents.

A lot of people who meet Maddalena assume her to be much more her mother's daughter than her father's, something she uses to her advantage, sometimes leading people to underestimate her.

While Maddalena is very much both her parent's daughter, she knows in order to ensure the survival of her family and of Florence she needs to be more Lorezno's daughter than Clarice's.

Maddalena knows she must think like Lorenzo, she must be the one to be his successor, even if the title is what goes to her brother. She needs to think like him, act like him, to embrace the darker sides of her father that her mother balanced out. This is also not something Maddalena is always comfortable with, she is kind and sweet, and often struggles between balancing who she is and who she needs to be to ensure the survival of Florence.

The tiara was overhauled and added to before it appeared again on an older Hürrem Sultan in the seventeenth episode of the fourth seeason. The updated tiara was also worn by Mihrimah Sultan in the twenty-ninth episode of the same season.

"Of course I do," Maddalena replied gently, although her voice was firm. Of course, she knew who he was, the Pazzi and the Medici had long been at one another's throats and now with her father gone, she was worried they were going to strike. They were dangerous and in all honesty, so were the Borgias, but Maddalena supposed Rodrigo was the lesser of two evils. Jacopo was not the kind of man to yield, and Maddalena could not risk anything happening during the fragile transition of power from Lorenzo to Piero.

"Because you were afraid of my father," Maddalena said matter of factly, even if that wasn't exactly true. Lorenzo the Magnificent cast a large shadow and even though the Pazzi may not have been afraid of him, he held them off, and now Maddalena would do the same.

"So you will fear me," She continued, "not now perhaps, but you will." Maddalena knew it was a dangerous game she had entered, she was playing chess with masters, but she was ready. The young Medici was well aware people, or men would underestimate her in fact she was counting on it. She was a woman, yes, but she would be the one to be Lorenzo's successor. Piero would have the title and the power, but Maddalena would be the one to ensure it.

There is no fear where there is power. Truer words have never been spoken before and certainly not from anyone Francesco's known other than his uncle. Jacopo's way with words is strong enough to sway a crowd of people onto his side during something tumultuous like a war. One can only imagine behind council doors and within the Priory itself. And, in moments like this, they ring loud and true as he looks into her eyes to determine his next course of action.

For a moment, he wonders if such a threat ought to be brushed aside due to the name of his family and the power they hold. But he'd be fool to think that Maddalena's threat is empty and devoid of promise. To take it seriously means he must undermine his own position as well as the influence his family has in politics.

"And why is that?" He doesn't even bother to cover up the sarcasm in the tone of his voice because what she says is amusing. "You do know who I am, don't you?"

now that I'm rewatching Kösem i keep getting struck by the idea of an au where the Greens win but because Aegon no longer trusts anyone thanks to Larys he makes the Fraticide Laws the Ottomans had where the sultan was free to kill his male family members to secure his throne.

I would've done it with the blacks but it would've been too easy for Daemon to just kill everyone and with the Targtowers you have them being full blooded siblings and easier chance making it plausible for them to live.
