A Sacred Fire - the Mausoleum of Galla Placida, Ravenna

I make no apologies for reproducing the mosaics of Galla Placidia, even though they are everywhere on the souvenirs of Ravenna. Galla Placidia (392/3-450) was the heiress to the Roman Empire, the daughter of  emperor Theodosius I. Her mausoleum is one of the oldest buildings in Ravenna, dating from the 5th Century.

I've included one as it gives a sense of the rich variety of decorative patterns in the Mausoleum:

May I present, my attempt at illustrating the last four pages of Tevinter Nights. 😁 (Also, the first time I'm posting art on here!)

As the whole thing was quite literally too long to post on tumblr, I uploaded the full version on a customized site made for reading webcomics (via ComicFury). On a personal note though, I can't believe I actually finished it... As it had been a *very* long time since I drew (and finished) anything, let alone a 31 page comic and reading Tevinter Nights again finally sparked my motivation (and the courage to post it lol). So I want to thank Patrick Weekes for helping me overcome this massive art block and over two decades of Case Closed mangas for inspiring me how to draw an overly dramatic "exposing the imposter" moment. 😂 I tried my best to be as faithful to the book as possible and it took me forever, so... hope you like it! :D

Entertaining angels unawares

I've always loved this scene from St Vitale in Ravenna of Abraham and Sarah entertaining angelic visitors. I love the three angels, but Sarah's face is particularly good.

Thorin Oakenshield

Y´all don´t understand how close I was to just giving him a mullet and be done with it💀

I gave him a raven forehead tattoo because of Erebor, and of course, I´m always giving my dwarves greyish skin :)

Nabbing @/peasant-player HC of Thorin chopping off his beard and only letting it regrow when he becomes king again, also it would be so symbolic of him being a Longbeard, who are known for having the longest beards, and only letting it regrow when he feels worthy again :´) - they also have a HC that most of his beads are given by his family over the years which is really wholesome - also also they drew young Thorin for me you can find on their page!!

I also really liked @/meluiloth HC that he wears silver over gold which is such a cool match for his silver streaking hair, so forgive me professor, but Thorin does not have any gold rings
