Do you ever think about how every killer in drv3, by some manner, killed not for themselves but for the sake of others. How Kaede have up her freedom in exchange for a chance at finding the mastermind, how Kirumi killed to try and save Japan as a whole, how Kork killed for the sake of his sister, how Gonta wanted to save his friends in a mercy kill, how Kokichi sought to end the game and how Kaito revealed himself so that who remained would live.
And do you think about how that ongoing theme of sacrifice mirrors the way the pre-game contestants sacrificed their lives and their beings for the sake of their love unified into one franchise, the same way that Tsumugi had. Something about the all consuming love of creation that ate them all whole, given by their own free will.
How something beautiful can come out of self sacrifice, but also how it shouldn't have to. How those who survive come out battered and bruised, a ghost of their former selves. Something about the exploitation of their love twisting it into a malicious series that cares only about the end result and not for the people they're supposedly catering to. Something about the inherent greed of capitalistic success and how it turns something meant to inspire hope in the future becoming a vicious cycle of violence just for the sake of it. The original meaning of perseverance lost, with the only ending being in cutting the head off the snake and letting it die
Hey did you know V3 was about reality tv-

hi everyone i wanna talk about how gross they are
Tumblr media
since im an artist who LOVEs saiouma i made sure to measure how tall they where and the top of oumas head reaches the bottom of shus nose. BUT IV NEVER ACTUALLY SEEN IT ???
kokichi would have to step on his tipy toes and shuichi would still have to lean down a bit to kiss him properly.
if i saw kokichi get on his tipy toes, wrap his arms around shuichis neck and pull him down to kiss him i’d run away gaging, then most likely become homophobic and put a ‘no gays allowed’ sign in my doorway.
they’re so fucking cute

Shuichi, Himiko, Keebo, and Maki represent our fave characters in general. They’ve been made aware of their existence as characters and are horrified by the way they are being written.
Tsumugi represents companies that continue to milk franchises dry because the public keeps consuming the content. They don’t care about the significance of the story, they care about what sells. So, they keep coming up with all these ridiculous storylines to keep the show going, even though it’s at the expense of the characters we love.
The DRV3 in-game fanbase is the other main villain since they’ve lost appreciation of the story. All they want is more blood and lewdness, they don’t care about the characters and their journey. The thing is, the loss in appreciation happened because the company (aka Tsumugi aka Team Danganronpa) keeps churning out content for people to consume.
So it becomes a vicious cycle of the company not understanding the significance of the story they’re telling, which makes the audience care less and less about what they’re consuming. Tsumugi LITERALLY takes the form of previous Danganronpa characters just so the audience can go, “OMG, it’s my fave character from the other game!” There’s no other reason why Makoto and Kyoko show up, they’re just there for us to cheer as cameo characters.
And how do the villains justify their treatment of the heroes? They tell them that it’s all fiction, so it doesn’t matter what they do to them. Who cares if we kill off all your favorite characters, it’s just fiction bro. You’re just there for people’s entertainment, so do what the audience wants. Say the line everyone likes, or make their favorite ship canon. It doesn’t matter how much we torture you (read: “butcher your story” / “assassinate your character”), we can do whatever we want to you since it’s all fiction anyways.
And how do our heroes fight back? They tell Tsumugi and the audience that their lives matter and that fiction can change the world. That we need to remember that the media we consume has meaning and that we shouldn’t treat it like disposable material. It doesn’t matter if they’re fictional, they matter to someone out there.

Perhaps I’ve been too harsh on V3. People were so up in arms about the game supposedly dissing the fanbase when the ending was warning us about the dangers of companies destroying their own IPs by not letting them rest, as well as toxic fanbases losing appreciation of the series they’re a fan of. And they did it by having the characters themselves speak about how their lives are being ruined by the people writing/influencing their stories.
This is straight up something Black Mirror would make. In fact, they kinda did with Bandersnatch.
Okay, it’s official. V3 is my favorite Danganronpa. It’s got a lot of flaws, but I give it props for the vision.

being in a love triangle with kokichi ouma and miu iruma
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: kokichi ouma x gn!reader x miu iruma
tags: jealousy, kokichi and miu hate each other
Tumblr media
being in a love triangle with kokichi and miu means you constantly have to listen to the two of them arguing over you!
they already don't get along very well, with kokichi often teasing miu, but when he realized that miu was in love with you as well, his bullying only got worse
kokichi is constantly trying to make miu look bad when you are around, causing miu to lash out at them and the two of them bicker all the time!
they just can't be nice to each other. even before this became about their feelings for you, they were mean to each other. but now, things only got worse
and you can't really escape them either, as the two of them are incredibly clingy! they don't just follow you around, they physically cling to you, to make sure you pay attention to them
both of them want to be your sole number one, causing a lot of jealousy and arguments, which you have to try and settle
though spending time with just one of them is almost impossible, as the one left out will always butt in and disturb any alone time you could have…

[ID: a digital drawing of shuichi saihara and tsumugi shirogane from danganronpa v3: killing harmony. shuichi is stepping out of a black box, onto a bright green background. he is holding the side of the box and has a confused, slightly horrified expression on his face. to the right of him, tsumugi is bowing and gesturing to him. there are red curtains to either side of them, and a bright red "applause" sign above them. below them are a series of bright blue hands, clapping.
