[ID: a small pencil sketch of mondo owada and aoi asahina from danganronpa. they are drawn mostly accurate to canon. mondo rests his arm on hina's shoulders and does a peace sign. she has one arm on his back and the other on her hip. mondo says "i'm attention defecit" and hina says "and i'm hyperactivity disorder." the caption below them is "the ADHD brothers." end ID.]
bryce papenbrook for when you want to enjoy danganronopa like a comedy and megumi ogata for when you want to consume danganronpa like a sickly starving and deeply disturbed dog
i think one of the biggest pitfalls of the way danganronpa is formatted is the lack of opportunity to worldbuild the tragedy. what effects does it have on society. i want to see why and how people who never even got brainwashed fall into despair alongside their brainwashed peers. i want to see the graffiti on the walls. i want to see what happened to all the local stores and homes and the public transport and all the mundane pleasures youd lose. did we lose all the cell towers? how is the future foundation operating and what specific areas do they focus on? what is life like in the countryside, where there arent any air purifiers and clean water? how long does it take for everyone to forget junko? how long does it take for everyone to forget izuru? to forget hopes peak? how do the next generation of children manage? how do people feel about talent now, that its ripped apart human civilization? i want to see the art people make. the poetry they write. the weeds growing in the cracks of the sidewalks despite it all. the death and the heartbreak and the hope.
Hot take but I really don’t understand the danganronpa fandom’s relentless hatred of monaca. people will find every single excuse for the other warriors of hope (hell nagisa even PROUDLY admitted to being a war criminal) but you draw the line at monaca because she… manipulated your favourites? you can ignore what kotoko did to komaru but call monaca “satan” for the kiss scene?
i understand that the level of responsibility for the WOH is a very nuanced issue because 1. they’re all children who were heavily abused and indoctrinated, and 2. they’ve all committed some very, very serious crimes. what i can’t grasp is why excuse all of them but one? it’s a really strange double standard.
I can't think about Danganronpa V3's ending without connecting it to this dialogue from the ending of Funny Games (2007), so uh spoilers for that movie if it matters.
V3 and Funny Games should hold hands and spin in a circle together
Reasoning: identity disturbance between Izuru and Hajime, and Izuru lacks Hajime’s memories (and presumably vice versa). The future arc features him with one of Hajime’s eyes and one of Izuru’s, and Izuru seems to be present inside Hajime’s mind.
Extra/headcanons: Hajime was dormant during and after the Kamukura project, and Izuru took over as host. After Danganronpa 2, Hajime returned to his place as the host.
ughhhh my biggesttt pet peeve is when a postgame komahina fic uses izuru as like. a convenient excuse for angst instead of putting genuine thought into his existence and what it means. the amount of “i want hajime to be an unrealistically massive dick to komaeda unprompted… oh i know ill just make him go izuru mode”s and “komaedas only with izuru because he misses hajime and thats the only purpose izuru functions”s ive seen otherwise really good kmkmhn authors pull is genuinely devastating
