why is no one is talking about this part in The Atlas Complex:
"Instead,Callum would simply have to look Tristan in the eye and say, as un-pathetically as possible, you don't have to choose me. Just know that it won't stop me from choosing you"

"Oh. So it's like that?" Nico said.
"Yeah." It left Gideon in a rasp, but fuck it. It had lived in his throat long enough
"Good." Nico caught him by a fistful of his T-shirt tugging him in again. "Good."

Here is my take on The Atlas trilogy characters after reading the first two books.
SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Libby Rhodes - I find her type characters annoying, but omg I loved her in The Atlas Paradox, and while I ind Ezra interesting, you go girl kill his ass. Also I need more of her alone, mainly using her power alone, but I want to see that from both her and Nico, while they're both physicists, I think it would be cool to see even more differences between them.
Nico de Varona - I feel so bad for my man his boyfriend is being hunted and his girlfriend got kidnapped and his bestie is having god complex issues LMAO, no seriously love him, liked him in the first book, loved him even more in the second, him AND GIDEON love it. Also nearly cried when it was said how alone my guy is, he needs family and he will look for it no matter what
Reina Mori - her god complex is so fun yet so crazy to watch unfold, while she is on the side I think her inner monologue is very interesting to read. Not my favourite character, but she and Callum are imo a great duo, need more of them. She and Parisa should just kiss and be besties.
Parisa Kamali - An icon, a legend, gave us the spiciest scenes in the book so we love her for that. Her power and character is perfect, mainly her decline and her helping my boy Nico. Didn't care for her and Dalton that much (overall I didn't care for Dalton) BUT very excited to see more of true Dalton (The prince?) in book 3
Tristan Caine - GET YOUR FUCKING DADDY ISSUES IN CHECK PLS AND THANK YOU!!!! Jk I love all my bitches equally, but him getting so close to all male figures in his life... nope, him and Atlas could make an unstoppable duo but worry not! His gf is back :) Overall Tristan was always a very hit or miss character for me, can't put a finger on why.
Callum Nova - I love him, like forreal, he is my new obsession, he is absolutely hilarious, I love his energy, the shit he causes, he is there to just do shit and I live for it!! Also made me cry, and you know I love blonde bitches that make me cry (cough cough Howl). Overall I need to read more books about Callum Nova type characters, because yes please. Also dw you don't have to hide your hairline from me I will cure your alcohol addiction <333
Ezra Fowler - girlbossed too close to the sun, very interesting tho, but I love Libby more
Gideon - LOVE LOVE LOOOOOVEEEE pls stop talking to your mama

The Atlas Six + The Atlas Paradox Incorrect Quotes Generator
Callum, laying in bed: Get out of my room. Reina, standing just outside of the door frame: I’m not in your room.
______
Nico: Tristan, you’ve tried 37 times and you’ve failed every time. Give it a break. Tristan: DO I HEAR “FIRST TRY PART 38?”
______
Callum: Self-care is suppressing all your trauma until it comes back and hits you in the face with the force of 7 very large trucks.
______
Nico: Let’s not Rhodes this into a worse situation than it already is. Libby: Did you just use my name as a verb?
______
Parisa: *fast-forwards all the way through the movie* Dalton: You can't just skip to the happy ending! Parisa: I don't have time for their problems.
______
Belen: Your future self is talking shit about you right now. Libby: Joke's on her. I'll ruin her fucking life.
______
Atlas: What are you planning to do? Ezra: Hey, now. "Planning"?! Do you know who you're talking to?!
______
Callum: I could kill you if I wanted. Tristan: Yeah? So could any other human being. So could a dog. So could a dedicated duck. You aren't special.
______
Callum: Look, I know you think my judgement's clouded because I like Tristan a little bit. Reina, holding Callum's notepad: You doodled your wedding invitation. Callum: No, that's our joint tombstone. Reina: My mistake.
_______
Parisa: Do we have any orange juice left? Reina: *pours the remaining juice into her cup* Reina: Sorry, we’re all out.

the atlas paradox after thoughts
{SPOILERS}
- callum is so broken and i think hes such an interesting character to analyze. like the thoughts of 'if you could feel everyones emotions all the time, you would have to shut off your own or you would fucking shatter'
-tristan needs to get his shit together ngl
- NICO AND GIDEON FINALLY
- hc libby is a lesbian and belen deserved better
- libby is imo the most cruel and manipulative person of the six. it was true in the first book its true now
- tho we love a corruption arc
- ngl kinda hope ezra lives. like did he do shitty things? yes. should you kidnap ur ex to 'save the world'? probably not. did i disagree with some of his philosophy and reasonings.... next question. also the fact that i think that that interaction would be really fucking fascinating. (i just want to have him and atlas yell at eachother more so i can critique their relationship more)
- parisa is and always will be the queen of my heart. i want more callum and parisa moments im the next book because i think theyre so similar and seeing their banter cracks me up
- if libby and tristan end up together i will literally cry and throw up and shit my pants in rage they are AWFUL together.
- belen deserved better pt 2
- i think reina didnt do much this book (other than possibly draft a damn pantheon) so im hoping we see her research come to fruition in the next book
- suddenly i love dalton? like him and parisa burning it to the ground? mania? madness? im living for it
-callum x tristan supremacy. they remind me of those broken plates that you mend with gold and they become more beautiful
- does anyone remember all the shit callum said about the 6 in the first book?
"Libby Rhodes was an anxious impending meltdown whose decisions were based entirely on what she had allowed the world to shape her into. She was more powerful than all of them except for Nico, and of course she was. Because that was her curse: regardless of how much power she possessed, she lacked the dauntlessness to misuse it. She was too small-minded, too un-hungry for that. Too trapped within the cage of her own fears, her desires to be liked. The day she woke up and realized she could make her own world would be a dangerous one, but it was so unlikely it hardly kelt Callum up at night." (301)
"'Parisa is dangerous. She is angry," he clarified. "She is furious, vindictive, spiteful, naturally misanthropic. If she had Libby's power, or Nico's, she would have destroyed what remains of society by now...[she's here] to find a way to do it...Destroy things. The world possibly. Or control it. Whatever option suits her when she find it"'(305)
"Libby was a hero. Parisa was a villain. They would both be disappointed in the end." (300)
the way that all of this is being brought up again in TAP is beautiful
- callum is on his way to some sort of redemption/selfless arc i can TASTE IT and i crave it.
- everyone is hot. all the time. it hurts me
- blake is great at gaslighting me into making me think i understand any of the mathematic scientific bs they talk about at any given time
- theyre all so broken and in need of therapy
- i want callum to verbally destroy adrian caine
- i want all of them to succeed in their funky lil goals and become gods (except libby)
- speaking of libby- i think shed be a great villain
anyways. this series? owns my mf ass

The Atlas Paradox Book Review
Tumblr media
The Atlas Paradox
Author: Olivie Blake
Description: Six magicians were presented with the opportunity of a lifetime.
Five are now members of the Society.
Two paths lie before them.
All must pick a side.
Alliances will be tested, hearts will be broken, and The Society of Alexandrians will be revealed for what it a secret society with raw, world-changing power, headed by a man whose plans to change life as we know it are already under way.
Rating: ★★★★★★★★★☆
Review: Just like entropy, the Atlas series keeps expanding and growing, exponentially becoming better with each book.
If compared with its predecessor, The Atlas Paradox is better in all the ways that count. The writing is noticeably more fitting, with paragraphs better formulated and more adapted to the reader’s experience. The characterisation and development of the core six is phenomenal, creating much more entertaining chapters and capturing the reader based solely on its curiosity for the people involved. It’s engrossing in a way The Atlas Six never managed to become.
And despite the overall lack of plot in this book, the affinity Olivie Blake has to tap into unthinkable dynamics and making them absolutely incredible is remarkable. There’s palpable chemistry and hilarious banter littered all over the pages. Take for example Callum and Reina, who at first glance have nothing in common, turned out to be the best duo in the trilogy thus far.
However, for all that it’s worth, the ending is quite disappointing in comparison to how well crafted the rest of the book is. Romantic moments aside, there’s nothing that ties the whole thing together in a high. In fact, there’s plenty of loose threads left. And frankly, it’s just plain boring.
Apart from the unfortunately lacking ending, The Atlas Paradox reads as a treat for the lovers of The Atlas Six. It might not be a book for those who aren’t fond of the characters themselves, for those who only care about the academic parts or the mythos. But that doesn’t mean it is not a great book.
