!!Warning!! Sad and kinda gory
Tumblr media
Don't ask me why. Just don't. I didn't even want to post it at some point. But like. I still like how it turned out. So suffer.
Plus this was my first attempt to draw Daisuke. And I promise, next time I'll draw him eating a cheeseburger.

dude i just watched a mouthwashing playthrough and dude. like that was a horror game, but it wasnt a normal horror game. a normal horror game makes me jump and scream. This one? i was frozen. my eyes were wide with terror. i was cold, even though i was wearing a blanket. I was holding onto my blanket and i didnt even realize until it literally started hurting because i was holding on so hard. I cried at least twice. i was frozen in terror afterwards. I wasn't even playing the game yet i still felt everything. What the hell did I just see.
ok but seriously THE SOUND DESIGN?????????? SO good and it was SO terrifying. the breathing sounds and the sounds of curly taking the pills were so gross omg i am not the same person after hearing all that it was heart wrenching and soul crushing and dream shattering im going to rot away and turn into mold holy shit
Also normally i dont like nonlinear storytelling because its normally confusing to me but this one???? So good, it woudnt have worked linearly. the graphics also are good, its gory and gross and it couldn't be better. I'm terrified and might not sleep tonight. i love you daisuke and i fucknig hate you jimmy grrrrrr

Content warning: angst, big angst, brief mentions of fighting/violence but nothing explicit or gory.
Lupin the Third and Gang Fighting Assassin!Reader Who Used to Be a Friend
Lupin The Third:
Lupin rarely gets surprised, he's usually one to surprise his foes.
His mind is washed over with tides of memories.
Your face, with a smile on it, in a brighter atmosphere and lighthearted place.
You two used to see who could get away with the most petty thefts when you were kids.
Lupin holds onto those memories, maybe hopefully they can help right now.
You seem just as lost as him, just as unsure of how to proceed…
Lupin’s heart drops when you avert your gaze and choose to take a defensive fighting stance.
Lupin shook his head, he insisted you two didn’t need to fight.
When you simply reply that it's no longer a choice, Lupin feels conflicted.
Not wanting to harm you, he decides to make a run for it.
He wants to hold onto hope that the old you is still there somewhere
And he'll do whatever it takes to get you back.
Jigen Daisuke:
Jigen had to lift up his hat from his eyes to make sure he wasn't seeing things.
He knew there was something different about you, anyone pursuing him solo rarely made it this far.
He also couldn't shake the feeling he knew you somehow.
When your face was revealed–the fight stood at a stand still.
Memories of shooting empty soda cans with slingshots and BB guns…
He always complimented on your sharp eye which now seems to lack the gleam he enjoyed seeing.
Now the weapons you two held were far more lethal.
Jigen lowers his and for a moment you consider lowering yours.
But Jigen doesn't miss how your grip tightened and you took aim once more.
He was quick to dodge out of the way of your bullets.
Jigen catches his breath, he tries to shake the fond memories that were conjured up.
Clearly they don't matter anymore, not as you keep shooting at him
Jigen reloads his gun and with a heavy heart starts defending himself again.
Goemon Ishikawa XIII:
Goemon knew there was something familiar about his opponent's fighting technique.
He truly, deeply wished he was mistaken.
When he wistfully cut open your mask so he could see his opponent, everything became a standstill.
You both reminisced about sparring as children with bo-staffs and hand to hand combat.
You were both destined and trained to be extremely gifted and dutiful assassins.
A destiny you fulfilled more so than Goemon it would seem.
For a moment you wondered if you two would be partners in crime, much like you were in childhood.
You never expected to one day be assigned to kill your childhood best friend.
Goemom sheaths Zantetsuken, immediately withdrawing from the duel.
Your knuckles turned white as you clenched and unclenched your grip around your weapon.
You couldn't disappoint your boss….you know what will happen to you if you defy them.
Maybe you and Goemon could be partners or friends once more in another life.
But for now, he was a target, one you were dead set on eliminating.
Fujiko Mine:
Fujiko gasped when she saw your face under your mask.
She couldn't deny your eyes looked familiar but she wasn't certain until your lower mask slid off your face.
Fujiko's moment of recognition seemed to mirror onto you as you fully took in her features.
Nostalgic memories of playing make-believe all day when you were children…
To discovering each other's first school crushes
And the two of you defending each other against bullies or boys that wouldn't take Fujiko's “no” for an answer.
Neither you could have expected the moment you two drifted apart you would meet back up in such a hostile circumstance.
Fujiko glanced down at the object that likely branded the target on her back that set you on the path to eliminate her and retrieve the item.
She rarely faced conflicts of interest, only rarely giving in for Lupin.
But now that it's you, she's finding it much easier in her heart to just return it so neither of you would have to hurt each other…
Unfortunately, you make the decision very clear for her as you charge at her to deliver another blow–
Inspector Zenigata:
Zenigata has unmasked various foes in his career (many of which were just Lupin in some elaborate disguise).
But he never imagined the day where the person he unmasked…was someone he knew from his childhood.
Zenigata does a double take, in complete shock. He calls out to you in disbelief.
His face and voice seems to make time stand still as you too recognize the man…
A man you once knew to be a determined, endearing little boy…
You two always seemed to stick to each other like glue, especially during the early school years.
He always had an ambition to be a detective, to fight for justice…
You couldn't help but softly smile as you realize he accomplished exactly what he set himself out to do.
Zenigata on the other hand, was disheartened to see the path you've taken.
He felt the urge to plead to you, talk you into turning yourself in…start a path to redemption.
You never gave him the chance as you decide to run for it-
Zenigata boldly chases after you, ordering you to halt, but it falls on deaf ears.
You were gone once more, leaving the Inspector to worry about what happened to his dear friend from so long ago.

Can you recommend any anime that have similar aesthetics to Guilty Gear?
Feel free to hit me with extremely well-known stuff, I basically don't know anything besides Dragonball and Ghost in the Shell.
Oh boy... I honestly don't watch a lot of anime ahaha........
I know Daisuke was inspired a bit by Bastard!! and Rurouni Kenshin for the original like base idea of Guilty Gear itself. I have actually watched Bastard!! and it's... alright, I guess. Its "vibe" is closer to GG than anything that actually happens in story, imo. There are a lot of heavy metal band references in it too. I think Daisuke was inspired by the manga and not the anime though. Aesthetically, the original Bastard!! OVA is probably closer to GG than the recent Netflix adaptation, but the Netflix one is a bit more coherent and might be better to start with. It's kind of misogynistic and gory, just a heads up.
The Rurouni Kenshin influence is the most noticeable in Baiken's Missing Link design (& probably the other Japanese characters' lore, like Anji) but I haven't watched it since I was a kid so I can't speak about its overall quality. EDIT: Forgot the creator of this series was a major p/edo. Should probably avoid this one and look for something else.
Outlaw Star's technology designs are a little similar to Guilty Gear's: big, chunky, huge plates bolted on almost haphazardly, very definitely inspired by 1970s-1980s industrial machines with some motorcycle influence sprinkled on. There's magic in the setting too, though it works differently than GG's, and there aren't any monsters that are like Gears.
The original Dragonball might be kinda close? Some of the more draconic monsters are kind of Gear-ish and the technology is also similar to GG's. The parallels kinda end there though it might be possible to draw comparisons between Saiyans and humanoid Gears.
Guilty Gear is so aesthetically unique that I'm not sure if there is anything out there quite like it... Maybe someone who sees this will be able to give a better answer ^^;;

What are your opinions on the Funimation VO changes starting with Kai and into Super? I just can’t get used to Bulma
I missed a lot of these changes, since I didn't pay much attention to Kai, and I had to watch the subbed version of Super because it was all we had while it was coming out.
Bulma was the big change, since that happened around the time they released Curse of the Blood Rubies on DVD in 2011, and I think that was when it hit me that Monica Rial wasn't just a Kai-only deal. They weren't going to bring Tiffany Vollmer back for other stuff.
A lot of the voices changed in the Raging Blast games too. I think they had a whole other guy doing Cell, for example. So I thought Dameon Clarke left the cast for some reason, but then he was back in the Xenoverse games. I think sometimes it just comes down to who's available.
And sometimes there's just no choice. I'm not sure when Brice Armstrong stopped voice acting, but his last role on Wikipedia was from 2009, when he was about 73 years old, so I assume he just retired. Since then, he passed away in 2020, and then Chris Ayres in 2021, which means they'll need to cast a new voice for Frieza the next time he gets a speaking role.
I mean, there's a lot of other cast changes we could debate or speculate about. Vic Mignogna will probably never appear in another Funimation production ever again. Even if his scandals hadn't caught up to him, he made sure to burn his bridges when he sued Funi in that defamation lawsuit. I don't think Stephanie Nadolny or Linda Young had anything like that going against them. It may have just been a matter of going in a new direction with the roles they had been playing. And I'm pretty sure the reason Chris Sabat had so many roles in 1999 was because there wasn't a lot of talent available at the time, but now they can actually cast other people. There's a lot I don't know about their behind-the-scenes decisions, but ultimately, some changes are inevitable.
I get the frustration, because I really wanted a dub of Dragon Ball with consistent voice acting from start to finish, and it seemed like we almost got there around 2007 or so, when Funi re-dubbed the Saiyans and Namek arcs. Except... it really isn't consistent, because everybody started in the Frieza Saga, and then they did Buu and OG Dragon Ball around the same time, and then went back and did the Saiyans and Namek. Also, some VA's went back and dubbed over their old performances, so in the Frieza Saga Orange Brick DVD set, you have 2006 Sabat playing Vegeta alongside 1999 Sean Schemmel Goku.
That's the thing. Even when it's the same voice actors over time, their performances still change. Sabat's Vegeta started out as a facsimile of Brian Drummond's portrayal on the Ocean dub. Then he gradually got deeper and more gravelly as he went on, which finally hit its peak around 2008, I think, and then he settled into the version we have in Kai and Super.
Also, once DBS started up, it finally hit me that this thing probably isn't going to end anytime soon. It was one thing to hope for a consistent dub of Dragon Ball and DBZ in 2003. But now Funimation has been dubbing this franchise for a quarter century. They have to cast new voice actors. A lot of the old ones are going to quit or retire or die.
This is nothing new for the Japanese cast, since they started back in the 1980's. Daisuke Gori played Mr. Satan until his death in 2010. They cast Unsho Ishizuka to replace him... until his death in 2018. Currently, Mr. Satan is voiced by Masashi Ebara, age 69. So if they're still doing Dragon Ball stuff in twenty years, I think it's likely that they'll have to recast the role again.
I don't mean to sound morbid about this sort of thing, but that's how it is with a long-running franchise like this. Dragon Ball is 38 years old. Things are going to change, people are going to leave, and maybe come back, and then leave again. That's just how it is.
To put it into perspective, when Superman first started in the late 1930's, radio was a big deal, and by 1940, Superman had his own radio series starring Bud Collyer. Collyer was the voice of Superman until the radio show ended around 1951. Then he and some of the other VA's reprised their roles in a cartoon series that ran from 1966 to 1970. Collyer died in 1969, so I guess they must have had some episodes already recorded before the show got cancelled.
Now, I'm a Superman fan, so I'm familiar with Collyer's performance, but the version I grew up with was the Superman who appeared on Superfriends from 1973-1986, played by Danny Dark. Dark was in diapers when Bud Collyer first played the character, and he died in 2004, around the time George Newbern was voicing Superman in Justice League Unlimited.
So when you look at it that way, the voice changes in Dragon Ball aren't so unusual. It's pretty cool how Masako Nozawa and Sean Schemmel have played Goku for so long, but I don't think they'll be the last VA's to handle it in their respective countries. Goku's already a multi-generational character, and I have a feeling he'll be appearing in cartoons for a long time to come.

Hello there, my dear friends and acquaintances! I hope that you all are doing well. It sure has been a long time since I last posted here. All I can say is that life off the interwebs gets you really busy, and certain experiences can test your mettle to see if you're strong enough to carry on. I won't bore you all with the gory details besides that. But on a positive note, I will say that I am doing my best to keep my head above water. It's not always easy but I stay strong. Now, with all of that out of the way, I can get on with explaining the context of the flyer above! As the Lupin the 3rd fans here already know we're getting a live action Jigen Daisuke movie. Having played everyone's favorite gunman once before in the 2014 live action Lupin the 3rd film Tetsuji Tamayama will be reprising his role as Jigen in the live action film, which is being directed by Hajime Hashimoto and Yoshimasa Akamatsu writing the screenplay. The film is set to premier worldwide on Amazon Prime Video this year in October. But not just any October day...it'll premier on October 13th. On. A. Friday. We're getting an actual Friday the 13th in October in 2023!
Tumblr media
And so, in honor of this epic news, I decided to do something special. I've seen a lot of prompt weeks for different fandoms with different themes and the like - so I thought I'd get in on it. And since October is the month of Halloween and the live action Jigen Daisuke film is coming out on October 13th, I felt that prompts involving things that go bump in the night would be the way to go. Which brings us to the flyer above! I picked the seven monsters that I believe best fit our dearest gunman, starting from October 7th and going all the way to October 13th. Everyone can make artwork or stories with any monster on any day they choose and set their creations in any universe, whether it's the cannon lupin the 3rd franchise or an alternate universe or a crossover with any other anime of their choosing. Of course, for the romantics out there you can pair a monstrous Jigen with anyone your heart desires. In my case I plan to make a fanfic series of these days with each story featuring my favorite pairing; Jigoe(Jigen/Goemon)! Welp that's all I have to say. It was really nice to make a post here after so long. I missed being on here, and I'll hopefully try to be more active. To anyone who will participate in this I hope you'll have fun with this week come October. Until next time, later days!

This dude’s voiced by Daisuke Gori who has voiced a million awesome characters like Heihachi Mishima and Mr. Satan. I’ll always remember him best as Uighur from Fist of the North Star, though. Point is he’s a PHENOMENAL voice actor and im happy to hear him even as a bit part.

If Leon Mining was informing Venom and the Assassin's Guild about the Conclave in Xrd, does that mean that the guy that Bedman killed was him? (Sign Bedman arcade) Since he mentioned that he knew that he was working with the vampire, doesn't show his eyes, knowing that zepp characters have white eyes and we don't know what is his full appearance.
That's actually a VERY GOOD question.
There's a scene in Xrd Sign when Bedman is interrupted from fighting Zato=ONE (after having defeated Chipp/Faust) when Ariels contacts him saying "something came up" and that he had to "return" to "take care of something", but it's not actually made clear "what" exactly he was asked to do after that brief retreat.
I can tell you, at least based on the physical appearance of the person he killed in his own Story Mode, that the "person working for the Vampire" is NOT Leon Mining, for two main reasons:
It's made semi-clear that Slayer was not fully aware of the Conclave's movements at the time, nor did he have any prior intel on Bedman… nor was he in any way associated with the Postwar Administration Bureau (even suggesting the idea he had a mole among their agents). The "agent" that was working for Slayer was trusted enough to be tasked with gathering such info, which is the opposite case with Leon Mining himself (meaning Leon could NOT be fully trusted, not by Venom or Slayer, as he was still working with the Conclave, even if he did provide intel on Zato's Resurrection. That intel might have been a trap to lure in Venom who was a key figure of the Assassins.).
The second piece of information (about Leon Mining himself) comes from Night of Knives, which relates to his personality, voice, and appearance:
Leon Mining refers to himself as "A Man who Grieves for his Nation."
This is actually a subtle reference to ONE and ONLY ONE character in Japanese Fiction: Daisuke Gori.
Tumblr media
He goes primarily by the character Edajima Heihachi in various anime, but he is most famous for his role as Heihachi Mishima in the Tekken series.
The catchphrase "A Man who Grieves for his Nation" is actually spoken verbatim by Heihachi a few times throughout anime and pop culture based on the various roles Daisuke Gori has taken over the years.
Just like I-No's voice Actress Kikuko Inoe loves to say she's "Forever Seventeen", this was Gori's catchphrase.
In other words, it's HEAVILY IMPLIED that Leon Mining himself is an "incarnation" of Heihachi that somehow existed in Guilty Gear's World and Timeline… interesting trivia to think about!
Anyway… as to whether or not "Heihachi"… er… I mean "Leon" survived any encounter with Bedman, it's made unclear… but if Heihachi can survive an encounter with Gouki "Akuma" from Street Fighter in Tekken 7… odds are he's still alive and kicking somewhere (or at least his Legend is, as a Voice Actor)~

Reika: Gross, Okame-san, that's completely inappropriate—
Daisuke: I have always wanted to dissect a liver. Would that be feasible?
Reika:
Okame: I think he's my soulmate.
