a niche headcanon of mine is that within the ferelden circle, cat's cradle is a fairly popular game amongst the apprentices, and Anders was especially good at it. I actually thoroughly enjoyed Anders' and Merrill's relationship with each other in the game, it's one of the most complex and compelling dynamics of the characters to me. I wouldn't change it. Though I like to imagine another universe where they can just be silly mages who play cat's cradle with one another.
