Insurance companies go to great lengths to produce clever commercials, but they rarely venture into the realm of beefcake. That's why the Eastwood Insurance cowboy was so memorable. In California in the 1990s, a series of at least 30 tv commercials showed the Cowboy riding up to a befuddled car owner, almost always a man, who was paying too much for car insurance, and "saving the day" with Eastwood's low, low prices.
The best commercials had him in the shower, naked except for his white cowboy hat, cruising...um, I mean talking about insurance to another naked guy, who seems more interested in his physique than his insurance policies.
Nudity in unexpected places is always stunning.
Besides, he had quite a smile.
The Cowboy was played by Jason Bradley Jacobs, who has only two acting credits on the IMDB:
A record company executive in Selena, 1997, about the Tejana singer who topped the Latin music charts and sang at the Astrodome.
Maurice Charpentier in The Feast of All Saints, 2001, based on the Anne Rice novel about "the Free People of Colour" in 19th century New Orleans, "a dazzling yet damned class caught between the world of white privilege and black oppression." Anne Rice -- shouldn't there be vampires?
Jason provided the voice and artists' model for a character in a comic book and animated series, Plowboy in the Cornmeal Universe, created by D.W. Newman. It is set in the Appalachia of 1978, the era of Jimmy Carter, Hee-Haw, and The Dukes of Hazzard, and emphasizes the "raw physicality and blatant sexuality."
I couldn't find anything about the work except for a one-page website full of broken links. I guess the project was scrapped. Too bad -- looks like these were gay country boys.
In 2015, Jason tweeted that he was voicing Raitliff Manor, by D.W. Newman, about the ghost of a Civil War soldier haunting a house. Nothing on Google about it, but I imagine he was a gay ghost
D.W. Newman's biography on IMDB says that he's a Kentucky country boy, "openly bisexual," with a degree in astronomy, and a bodybuilder.
No D.W. Newman is listed on bodybuilder websites. In fact, all I could find out about him was a donation to L.A. teachers and a "like" for Balboa Hybrid Swim Shorts.
There are some nude photos on hook-up sites.
Twitter/X has links to Jacob's other projects, but they are all broken. No new tweets since 2015. Links to his personal website and Facebook are broken. No Instagram.
A frustrated series of broken links and dead ends, with only one real moment, the memory of the Eastwood Insurance Cowboy. And even that is fuzzy.
The full profile, with nude photos, is on RG Beefcake and Boyfriends

In 1963, two teachers in England got concerned about one of their students and followed her home to what appeared to be a junkyard. They followed her into what appeared to be a police box, but in actuality turned out to be a time/space machine called the TARDIS. They learned that the girl, named Susan, and her grandfather, known as the Doctor, were not human at all but aliens. The Doctor (Doctor 1), upset by their intrusion took them back to 100,000 BC. probably projecting but i can’t stop thinking about this. context: verity lambert and sydney newman (first co-producers of dw) were both jewish, as is carole ann ford (who played susan)
#am i imagining diaspora themes where there aren’t any? probably. is that helpful? probably not. but i digress#this show was inevitably shaped by the visions of its jewish producers#much of dw’s story involves being a stranger in a strange land - an adventurer or a refugee depending on how you look at it#i connected the dots. you didn’t connect shit. i connected them#ALSO: the original comic is by tumblr user:#millenniumitem#and it was about superman - so go check that out#doctor who#classic who#first doctor#susan foreman

Journeyman Appreciation: Greg Sacks
Today’s driver appreciation is the first one I’ve done for primarily a Cup driver, but I thought that Greg Sacks was worthy. Coming out of the northeast modified scene that at that time was a rare stepping stone to the bigger series except for the likes of Geoff Bodine or the Bouchard Brothers, Greg won just about every big event you could win in a modified at that time before moving up into Cup for his family-owned team.
After running 5 races in ‘83, he embarked on his first full-time season for the family team in 1984 where the basically unsponsored team suffered a number of mechanical issues but also had a number of top 20 runs when they got to the finish and top 10 finish at Bristol on their way to a pretty solid 19th place finish in points. Despite starting the year with a career best 6th in the Daytona 500 and a 13th and 10th in the following races, the family owned team shut down just 3 into season and Sacks was left to hop around which led to his most famous and infamous race, when DiGard entered a second research & development car at the July Daytona race with one of the most notorious cheaters (and later man in charge of catching cheaters) Gary Nelson as his crew chief, where he was bad fast leading over 30 laps to win his one and only Cup race. Famously, this was the race that made Bobby Allison quit DiGard Racing which was the ultimate downfall of a once dominant team, but not before Greg replaced Bobby in the car and collected a couple more top 10s.
The next 4 seasons would see Greg running only part-time schedules for a variety of different teams including DiGard, the Dingman Brothers, Buddy Baker and Tom Winkle, collecting 6 top 10s along the way. It was in 1990 though that Greg got his best opportunity, hooking up with Hendrick Motorsports initially as one of the drivers for Days of Thunder, entering both Busch and Cup races in cars from the movie. This led to the opportunity to race for the short-lived third Hendrick team co-owned by Paul Newman with Slim Fast sponsorship, earning a pole and nearly winning at Talladega and earning the opportunity to fill in for an injured DW later in the season where he had yet another 2nd place finish, finishing the season with the most top 10 finishes (4) he’d had since that ‘85 year. However, the Slim Fast deal fell apart and soon did the Hendrick-Newman effort, leaving Greg with just a part-time effort in ‘91 before scoring his first full time ride in nearly a decade in 1992 for Larry Hedrick’s start-up effort though that was derailed by an injury, hooking on with Mark Smith part way through ‘93 and driving what would prove to be his last full-time season in 1994 for longtime independent DK Ulrich, finishing 31st in points but scoring 3 top 10s which would also prove the last of his Cup career.
That wasn’t the end of his career though. In 1995 alone he ran races for 4 different car owners, from ‘96 through ‘98 he was the go-to phone call for many teams who needed an injury or performance replacement for a few races or a research & development driver, and in ‘96 also continued to show what a great superspeedway racer he was by earning his lone Busch win for Diamond Ridge at Talladega. After going fairly quiet in the late 90s/early 00s Sacks returned around 03-04 in his early 50s to run a handful of lowbudget efforts in Cup down through ARCA, having a couple good ARCA runs and qualifying as a field filler for some Cup races. Finally, at the track which made his career, he effectively ended it in style getting a one off in good equipment in Xfinity at the age of 57 for JR Motorsports where he qualified 5th and finished 21st on the lead lap.
Greg only twice ran a full season in any NASCAR season, despite being a winner he ended his career with only 3 finishes inside the top 5. However, when sometimes very good owners like Rick Hendrick and Felix Sabates let alone any number of smaller teams wanted a dependable driver who could give good feedback and bring the car home in one piece with pretty solid speed, Greg was often at the top of many rolodexes. He really strikes a prototypical figure as a journeyman, and for this I salute him.

hello again dana! how are you doing?
another allisaac shipper?! truly a rare find in this fandom.
so i checked your about me page and we do have a few fandoms in common that i’ve been able to download (teen wolf, the good place, the hunger games, the bear, mean girls, the princess and the frog, black mirror, bridgerton). idk what’s up with my usual site so i can’t get to much else at the moment. do you have a certain fandom in mind that you’d especially be excited about? also before i fall????? idk what this says about me but i loved that movie. how she chose to live her last day and the day with her sister 🥺
a few more questions what are your favorite fonts? favorite colors? who is your all time favorite actor? i’m also curious about what your first fandom was.
i am very afraid that severance s2 will be like the bear’s fishes episode. 🫣
-psc secret santa
i LOVE allison/isaac they're so dear to me. of the fandoms you listed i luv the hunger games the most, but all of those are great. i love before i fall SO much, i think it's really underrated. i adored that book when i read it but i thought the movie was really moving too.
favorite fonts is tough. i love amalfi coast, and i've been really into avenir black and im fell dw pica (the folklore font lmao). but i like all types of fancy fonts. my favorite color is yellow, although i also adore a good bold red.
all time favorite actor is easy peasy it's the one and only paul newman aka the hottest man to ever live. my first fandom was probably the hunger games, since that's probably the first thing i really engaged with in any sort of fandom way. but the first show i was obsessed with was friends lmao
yeah i feel like severance s2 is going to be anxiety central lmao

Can we talk about the Jewish erasure in all of this Christian focus in NuWho? The Christmas specials, the shifting focus on this as "halfway out of the dark" like Christmas is the source of hope when this show was literally made by Jewish people (Verity Lambert and Sydney Newman). It's not just the Xmas specials themselves, it's the way they are used as a focus throughout the seasons. It just feels so disrespectful, like we're ignoring the show's roots.
Doctor Who was invented, created, and made by Jewish people. Why can't we have specials on Jewish holidays, or at least acknowledgments of Jewish holidays in the episodes? I've seen people praising Chibs for the new years specials instead of the Xmas ones, and I would like to take the opportunity to remind those people that the 1st of January is not when Jewish people celebrate the New Year, so it still feels like we're being ignored.
I would also like to add that some of our favourite classic who companions were Jewish. Carole Ann Ford (Susan) was Jewish, as is Tegan (not sure if her actress is Jewish, but her character is). We've also had some Jewish storylines in the books, audios, and comics.
Here are some interesting articles on the subject.

Tldr; Jews made this show. Why are we still being left out of it?

In 1963, an alien time traveler known as the Doctor (Doctor 7) and his companion Ace returned to 1963, Totter’s Lane Junkyard where the Doctor (Doctor 1) and his granddaughter picked up their first human companions. The Doctor and Ace had to help the military prevent two warring factions of a Dalek Civil War from getting The Hand of Omega. However, the Doctor had a secret lethal agenda known only to himself. On a technical note, the serial introduced the "Skeleton Effect" when Daleks kill their victims. ("An Unearthly Child"/"Remembrance of the Daleks", Doctor Who, vlm 1 TV)

guys I've cracked it Jed Bartlet was preceded in office by a two-term Republican. "I wanted to retire five years ago, but I wanted a Democrat." yes. I win.
#by tomorrow I WILL have crafted a whole opponent and everything#and it will have nothing to do with the former presidents in season 5#i think the writing of that is clumsy and hews too close to carter and reagan so i do not acknowledge it#but sarah didn't you just compare bartlet to clinton IT'S NOT THE SAME#bartlet is clinton but also kennedy and roosevelt and Others#dw newman is just jimmy carter and the other one is just ronald reagan and that's boring
