"When Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside became the subject of international press coverage last week, locals snapped to attention. The Telegraph, a daily broadsheet based in London, England, published a news feature with a headline that claimed decriminalization had made Vancouver “the fentanyl capital of the world.”
Good article about a really bad article written about my city

Some Easter-themed posters denouncing the ongoing street sweeps of unhoused people in so-called Canada's most impoverished neighbourhood. The Vancouver city council and mayor are incredibly cruel and supportive of these sweeps. Disgusting. Posters like this and more available for download and distributing how you see fit.

Every Sunday you will find Street Thug Barbers providing free haircuts and hugs to the homeless and low-income community in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside.
In 2015, friends Cameron Sterling and Josh Malcolm discussed doing something in the community.  So they went to Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside and began giving haircuts to people who were homeless and anyone who was in need.

This is How We Got Here x Firehall Arts Centre x Railtown. (via Sarah Race)
Métis playwright Keith Barker's moving family drama tells a tale of resilience on stage with the help of a mystical fox standing in for the cyclical nature of traumatic loss and grief. How his characters handle their frustrations at losing a young loved one to depression without any concrete answers feels like a true to life mirror of many unfortunate realities. It's a special piece filled with heartfelt humour and unexpected laughs about small-town life in Ontario.
Cast: Gordon Patrick White and Tasha Faye Evans.
Running live on stage until Apr. 28. [sponsored]
