Trying to word this carefully bc it‘s a concept that gets veeery romanticized & mystified but I do have to admit how compelling it is when artists just can’t stop making shit. Last night, somehow for the first time, I saw a tweet of gerard’s saying he wrote boy division in the hotel after THE Madison Square Garden show. At their most exhausted in years, fully believing the band might be over for good, they sat down and wrote a song. And now the implication that some of the things we’re seeing rn have been cooking since before the 2017 barbecue. It really truly never stopped
