it’s 3am and i’m on my couch sobbing to disenchanted by mcr, smiling pathetically, real tears of happiness for the first time in really as long as i can remember.

when i was dealing with an addiction a year ago i developed a tie to the song sleep by my chemical romance. i’d blast it in my headphones on repeat every time, every night, it drowned out my world until i’d black out or fall asleep highly intoxicated.

the song became the substance to me, they were one in the same. i couldnt listen to it ever since i got out of my addiction and got help, it would put me right back in the scene.

i decided to listen to the black parade album tonight, and i got through sleep. i listened to the whole song and i was okay, i’m okay.

i’m okay.

i’m really proud of myself for listening to sleep. it made me realise how much progress i’ve actually made as a person now, i have so much meaning for living.

i never felt it like this before. i’m doing so great, i couldn’t even tell, but now i can. i’m proud of myself

Lowkey I view sister to sleep as almost like an earlier version of sleep. Like obviously musically they’re super different and they were inspired by different things but I feel like the overall concepts and themes are super similar. Like the whole “he went to sleep forever” thing takes me back to sister to sleep and how it’s about not sleeping because you know if you do you’ll never wake up. Was sleep actually just about freddy krueger lmao Idk just some thoughts maybe this is painfully obvious or maybe it makes no sense but either way both songs slappp
