H2SH is still as annoying looking as ever. I'm so irritated that the one thing I quietly hoped for if we had to have this run - Jeph Loeb reminding everyone that Hush's bandages were only because he'd just had facial surgery, and really he should be running around wearing Bruce's face - is not happening.

Absolute Wonder Woman continues to look so PRETTY. Such a stunning title.

I'm still interested to see what the basic concept of Absolute Martian Manhunter is, because that art is looking kinda Venom-like. Is J'onn protoplasmic or something?

Tamaki didn't get Supergirl, but that was the clearest hinted coming run I've seen in a while. Cute redesign.

Sort of glad I finally dropped World's Finest. What is The Batman Who Laughs doing there and can we get him to go away.

Mister Terrific: Year One feels like a good idea, given how much of that background support work Michael's been doing recently.

Arion in Aquaman? Time to get back to my Arion read so I can see what changes are made.

...Dudley Soames mention in Nightwing? Watters is having fun.

Something bad's clearly happening to Janet in Poison Ivy, which is equally terrible but also really interesting.

Yeah, that's absolutely a Ravens team they're foreshadowing in Birds of Prey

Ahahahaha. ahahaha. hahahaha. Brave of you, Tate Brombal, to try and pull all the variations of Sandra/Shiva's origin together. Will be interested to see what the result is.

Fire & Ice remains looking too cutesy as expected

Secret Six: yeah, there we go, back door Checkmate spinoff as was suggested. And I have. feelings. about Jon being referred to as Super Son as his code name.

Green Arrow: I'm going to dump on this here, though it's absolutely not the only example in this month: if you're going to do special AAPI covers for a month, it would look far less tokenistic if the characters depicted on them actually had any hope of appearing in the storyline. Condon does not deserve to have a Connor cover when we all know he won't be in this story.

And oh look, Damian's still wearing his costume on all the Batman & Robin covers. It's almost like. he's not actually quitting. what a shock.

Two-Face art looks soooooo good.

Batman: Dark Patterns continues to look like the best Batman book coming out once Zdarsky's run finishes.

I don't know Resurrection Man but the entire concept looks so so Ram V.

I'm not sure it's quite a match for Catwoman as a book, but this art is stunning. Did it secretly become a title in the magic part of DC when I wasn't looking?

Also there is a LOT of reaching across the aisle for writers going on right now, just noticing in the solicits.

I had not noticed they got DUSTIN NGUYEN to do a Li'l Diana for Absolute Wonder Woman? Keep winning, best Absolute title.

I am fascinated to see what an Absolute Green Lantern involves, but it's also probably a title I'll sample for one or two issues only

Speaking of Absolutes...we are apparently continuing the omnipresent Parents theme for Absolute Flash. Robert Rudolph West is in this book being terrible? What a surprise for everyone.

....wait we are doing a World's Finest crossover with Justice League Unlimited? What? Surely this will not cause any confusion or problems, especially while we still have the unofficial Atom-Question-Challengers JL crossover storyline running.

Spurrier, did you just give Wally scouts? They're Bart's thing.

I don't even know what to say about the Secret Six solicit, so I shall merely sigh deeply

The Catwoman covers are really cool (though I'm unsure why we have the hanbok one)

I see Bryan Hill got a title and so Duke's getting appearances on a new team. Good for Duke.

All the Black Canary covers are good this month, and none of them make her look like a Japanese 12 year old! (Dustin Nguyen my heart)

Also just generally - WOW are we on a heavy push for the Superman office right now. Which I have no problems with, let me be clear - we're due for one to rebalance the titles - but it's extraordinarily obvious.

Looking at the trades, I have generally thought they've been making sensible decisions about the DC Finest line, but... I get the intention of the Batman ones, in that this is a direct sequel to the Year One and Two trade that is picking up the next year of Batman and 'Tec plus the two big graphic novels published over that exact period...but packaging The Killing Joke and Son of the Demon together with everything else here is wild, especially as, once again, they're not bothering to put either Batgirl Special or Oracle Year One with TKJ, and Son of the Demon should be packaged with at least Bride, even if you don't add Birth.

They are continuing to collect Balent Catwoman though, which is something we've needed, so kudos to that.

Well, I know the disappearing act that I am craving.

Just how hard is it to write a story about a stage magician who also knows actual magic and likes to save the world without having the narrative revolve around her shitty ex-boyfriend?

I wish the solicitations for the Absolute series told us a little more. I'm trying to do more pre-orders with my local comic shop, both because i've missed some things (had to get the 3rd printing of Absolute Superman #1), and Diamond's troubles are likely to make distribution more chaotic for a while. So adding things to my list beforehand will hopefully make things easier for me and the folks at the comic shop. However. Check out these blurbs for three new series coming out in March.

Ok, we have a strong theme here, and that's good, but it doesn't tell me what the comic is about. It tells me what it's NOT about, which doesn't tell me anything that's not already inherent in the basic concept. The one about Martian Manhunter seems like it will be more heady or philosophical because they used "beyond" instead of "without", which is a smidge more, but still (and the covers contribute a lot to that impression). So i have to go with attachment to the character, whatever feelings i have about the creative team, and how cool the cover is -- the same things I'd have if there wasn't any solicitation copy at all.

So...I guess I'll skip Flash. It could be interesting to see how they explain his powers without the speed force, but then, the speed force only showed up in the mid-90s, and Barry had been around since the mid-50s. I read plenty of speed-force-less Flash stories when i was a kid. Ditto the mentor stuff. Maybe it will be great and i'll be waiting for another 3rd printing, but i can't buy everything.

Maybe i will add Martian Manhunter and Green Lantern to my list. MM looks trippy, and sometimes i dig trippy superhero comics. Also, I tend to enjoy Javier Rodriguez' art. GL at least looks cool on the cover. The emotional spectrum thing has dominated GL series for too long IMO, so hopefully this won't use that idea. This GL isn't without a ring, though. Look at their ring finger. It's hard to believe they don't have any willpower, too.
