Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates was an incredible read. Coates grew up in Baltimore as a black man who attended Howard University. In this memoir written to his son, he refers to his “body” and the ways it has been damaged and disrespected by American society. His memoir illuminates the issue of race in America by creating a unique and captivating narrative of his personal experiences.
