D.M.V. nightlife is helping one local disc jockey make a name for himself. Gregory H. King, 21 of Clinton Md., has become a hit in the clubs here in D.C. and Md., going by the name Dj Uneek; Greg as many of his peers call him, has made his presence know since coming on the scene in summer of 2007. He has built a reputation in the area; playing at the hip spots in the area like Lotus Lounge, Club 24, Station 9, K St. Lounge, and a host of others.
Greg always dreamed of being a touring disc jockey and the club scene is the first step, but he never knew that that dream would come true so soon. Graduating from Largo High School in Upper Marlboro Md., and following in his fathers’ footsteps, Greg wanted to make this his career and by djing at school functions and other local event like house parties, graduation cookouts, and parties for friends, his path to the touring started.
“I would do events for little to nothing, just to get my name out there.” Greg H. King.
Doing jobs for little to nothing helped this dj get his foot in the door. Dj Uneek said his first club experience; while it was a proud moment it was also a nightmare. “ It was at Platinum night club in D.C. and I was told to go down to the basement to take over for one of the dj’s that was playing and when I got on I ejected the compact disc and stop the party.” Greg King He was amused at the incident but knew that it would be one of those stories he would remember through out his career. Those stories as he told me are what makes this an exciting job. The D.M.V. has one of the best nightlife and Dj Uneek is having fun getting people in the club bodies moving. It’s a place for fun and excitement but it is also a great to place to network, said Greg. He then said, “I enjoy seeing people having fun.” And as the dj this make the job all the more satisfying, said Greg.
Working with LGI group, I have gotten the opportunity to do a lot of new things in the past two years, said Greg. LGI group, a promotion company based here in the D.C. metropolitan area, which has employed Greg as one of their dj’s for the past two years, according to Greg. Matthew Payne also known as Big Matt, 22 of Oxon Hill Md. is a promoter for LGI group and long time friend of Greg’s, said that he knew Greg would make it back when he first saw him djing at FUR nightclub during Howard Universities Homecoming in Oct. of 2008. “I was just going to majority of the gigs with Uneek,” said Matthew. Big Matt usually helps Greg get gigs and was a contributing factor in Greg’s success in D.C. nightlife. Helping people and a passion to meet new people was the reason Big Matt said he got into promoting. “I always liked helping people and I just love meeting people.”
Being one of the promoters for parties that Dj Uneek plays, Big Matt sees, first hand, what the Dj Uneek experience is like. He is smart, very articulate, and he does things a lot different; that’s what draws me to his djing and or parties, said Big Matt. Smart and articulate is right, this young man not only got the party going he also hyped them up by serving as his own hype person on the microphone, from what I witnessed when I attended K St. Lounge Sunday. This young dj had the crowd on their feet the entire night and gave them what they wanted mix a host of different genres.
Greg’s nightlife djing has also helped him to spin for numerous celebrities, according to Big Matt. He’s djed for some of the best, said Big Matt. Djing for artist by the likes of Project Pat, Lil Will, Dirty Money’s Dawn Richards, Gucci Mane, Nikki Minaj and Drake, Pleasure P., Clips, and Avant, said Big Matt.
The LGI group has also helped in my dreams of being a touring dj, said Greg. Since joining the promotion company, he has been to Miami Fl. and Richmond Va., said Big Matt. He also said that they are planning to travel back to Miami this coming Memorial Day weekend for a LGI hosted party at club Bed.
This talented young man has come a long way since his days of djing for little to nothing just for the exposure and is moving in the direction he needs to accomplish his dream of touring the world djing for arena size crowds.
“Humble. No matter what may bother me, humility is the best solution” Greg King. In the next two to three years, I see myself overseas djing in an arena, said Greg. I see that this young disc jockey is looking towards his future and with his passion he will make those dreams a reality.

Sometimes I like to think I'm real smart, but then I remember that I'm only as smart as Harley Quinn after Joker fucked her up.....and even then that's stretching it.

Kidnapper: "We want the money, or the little girl gets it, Wayne!" Bruce: "Little girl--? Oh. OH. Ohoho, you kidnapped Cass? (ominous chuckling) Have fun sweetie~" Kidnapper: "Wha-- are you insane?! We have your freakin' daughter tied up and--" every thug in the room turns around to find Cass' seat suddenly vacant "--at… g-gun… point?"
Bruce hangs up the phone
All the thugs start frantically searching around the room, wondering where the hell their hostage vanished to.
Cass, lurking in the dark corner of the room, seemingly clinging to the wall above them like fucking Spider-Man: *Prowler.mp4*
Cass strolls back into Wayne Manor like 15 minutes later, just kinda shrugging when Bruce asks if she had fun being in a hostage situation. She doesn't get the appeal.
the batkids getting kidnapped must be such a hassle for bruce cuz he has to play 20 questions just to figure out which kid it is.
"The short one? So not Dick or Jay. Damian is home right now, so not him. That leaves 4. Black hair? Not Stephanie, okay. Looks bored? Honestly, that doesn't narrow things down at all. A girl? Oh, okay it's Cassandra. Alright, tell her to not take too long, dinner is in 30 minutes."

"The memories, the friendships, the feeling of belonging and those joyous moments on the dance floor. The bars evolve as we do. They come and go and sometimes come back again. The spaces may be fleeting, but what they’ve given us is permanent."

Also, to answer this? It used to be 18th st lounge (ESL for short among the natives). No longer open, it had a cute 15 year run of deep (read: soulful) house on Sunday nights that I should have honestly done WAY more of in my decade there.
Obsessed with the DC tourist asking for clubs with a “no ugly people allowed” policy that plays house
