Mike Kaluta painted a BEAUTIFUL cover. That thing should have been published as a poster, and it would have been on dorm room walls all over the place.

So, why the fuck would DC change it so much for the published version? The short answer is money. When this was published, the time and by extension the money it would have cost to accurately reproduce Mike’s painting for a comic book that sold significantly fewer copies than something like a Batman title or whatever simply didn’t make editorial sense.
