So, I’ve had this idea watching one of Gem’s videos and I thought about how the magic mountain crews bases are all connected through the mountain, so, what if you were to fall down some hole near the top of the mountain and you land in this cave with a bunch of different tunnels and depending on which way you go you would end up in a different place.

Originally I was thinking about making this an au with just the magic mountain crew + some other people if I ever wanted to fit other hermits into the equation, but then I started thinking about other hermits bases like Xisuma’s, Ren’s, or Keralis’s and how they are/can be an entire world of there own, and then RPGs popped into my head.

What if It was one of those RPGs, you know, the kind that are pixelated with the little sprites like undertale, stardew valley, or moonlighter. What if it was something like that!?

Okay, that is a lot of words…..um, here have a summary

okay, to those who voiced an interest, here’s the link to the google doc with the outline i wrote for 🔗the next Ever After High arc.🔗

i just wanna clarify a few things, though.

i wrote all of this almost a year ago, and even then, i did so with the intent to change things as i saw fit. so it’s definitely nowhere near the final product.

it’s in a sloppy, bullet-point format as opposed to some, i dunno, novel formatting, because it’s written with the intent to be transferred into a screenplay format. so, if at any point it reads like a crappy fanfic dot net story, it’s because it’s meant to be brief.

there are a handful of side-plots that i think may be best served as webisodes rather than being here. that being said, for right now, they’re in there.

there’s new characters introduced, but just think of em as one-offs that are really only important to this arc, like courtly is to wtw. at the end of the day, their existence is meant to serve the development of the main characters.

i copied and pasted it from my notes app, so it’s missing italicization in all the spots i had it in. hopefully it won’t hinder any interpretation of how dialogue should be read.

again, i’ve written this with the intent of it being an ACTUAL ever after high special, meaning it is kid-friendly and has the narrators chime in often with expository dialogue. you’ve been warned.

I am a big big cerise x cedar fan I just love how soft they could be together, they’d face all of their insecurities together taking it step by step

Dexven is my og ship from ever after I loved them so much and absolutely adored them in the books

BRIARBELLE MY BELOVEDS! I love the push and pull relationship they have, they would throw the best parties

Huntlynn are another og ship of mine, I loved how they still showed their love even if the odds were stacked against them

Dappling, ugh I just love them. The amount of angst you can fit with them too

I’m probably gonna be the only jilhumph shipper here but I love them, I headcannon Jillian to be bi btw and Humphrey is pan

I just love the tough x anxious troupe and to me they are the epitome of that and honestly I think they’d be super cute!

DIZZIE!! Oh I absolutely love love them, pls you know Lizzie would boss daring around in a playful and serious way when they start to date

Daring would love it if Lizzie designed outfits for him, he gets to show off his girlfriends work and he’d be so proud of her!

Ducharrow - He was a punk she did ballet what more can I say

They scheme together on a daily basis same with gossiping, Sparrow would support Duchess no matter what

Saw a post that argues that there are some words that just shouldn’t be translated. Think suffixes in Japanese-language texts. They convey plenty of information and English doesn’t have anything close to peer-honourifics. I understand this impulse. In fact it’s a good middle option to convey information quickly: if it’s a frequently used, story-critical untranslatable word, sure, stick in a glossary.

My personal belief is that you can translate everything effectively. There’s always going to be some combination of words that creates the desired effect. Even if the word is linked into a cultural norm that doesn’t transfer, there’s going to be some kind of equivalency you can draw based on the fundamentals of human emotion. Ultimately I think it’s better to translate based on flow and naturalism while including footnotes—if it’s something like a translated novel or a dubbed show. Subbed shows are trickier since the subtitles ought to line up with the spoken words, but you still have a lot of flexibility. There’s always going to be something you can do. Take the suffixes. There are no words in English to quickly convey a relationship, but you can get around that by deploying tone and register. It doesn’t have the guaranteed result of a -chan* *denotes affection of the user or cuteness of the bearer, sometimes used ironically between friends, default for close female friends. It can still accomplish a lot.

What do you think of dappling (darling x apple)

i do like it, and see it as the end game in canon, but the actual existing media has little to no dynamic to offer for them, so when working on my continuation of the eah tv series, one of my big goals is to properly develop that relationship.

i have a very unique angle of approaching the two that i don’t think i’ve ever seen anyone else actually take with them. and a lot of it hinges on the direction i’d like to take with darling’s character.

i love darling, do not get me wrong, but she lacks a strong personality. the most they give her in the show is her little quirk of overindulging in her interests before dialing it back (i.e. when she starts to get excited about uncovering the secrets of wonderland, or when raven asks about where to hide she starts she enthusiastically answers). and then, you know, she has her girl power thing. so my angle is to take that and use it as the ground work for what i want to do with her to flesh her out.

i don’t want to delve into it here as not to spoil anything i’m going to write, but in working to properly characterize darling, the dynamic and narrative of dappling will start to fall in place.

so, yeah. i’m looking forward to doing that.

And darling makes sure to bring Apple’s favourite flowers, or something she can use like new notebooks or pens
