Steve curls up on his side, clutching his middle with a groan. Eddie squats down in front of the couch, reaching out to brush away the hair plastered to Steve’s sweaty forehead. 

“You want me to get you a blanket, sweetheart?”

Steve groans and peers up at Eddie, his head bobbing in a weak nod. 

Eddie presses his lips to Steve’s forehead and mumbles “I’ll be right back,” against his skin. 

Steve sighs, feeling a little better even as he curls tighter around himself to wait for Eddie to get back.

TMayNT Day 25

I don't have a turtlesona, so here's just some pictures of Rise Donnie. He's basically my spirit animal, so I think it counts for this day.

To me, he feels like a smarter, more confident version of myself. Legit, if Rise Donnie's intelligence lowered and he became more insecure, that's literally me. It's not even just the ASD similarities (sensory issues, struggling to hear your tone, hyperfixating on pointless crap, lack of empathy, etc.). We're both middle children, and the way we interact with our families is shockingly similar. His "Jammy Jam" playlist is filled with absolute garbage, just like my music taste. Our purposeful comedic timings suck and we often come off as annoying (as seen in the movie). Heck, even the way we speak has commonalities. The list goes on and on. I feel such a kinship with this dude, and I love seeing how many other people relate to him too.

“And can you swing by the infirmary and ask Jennifer for more of that cream?”

“Uh-huh.”

“It’s just that I’ll be late with the repairs and I don’t want to have to bother the night shift.”

“Okay.”

“I think Biro is on tonight, and she’s a little too enthusiastic about ringworm, you know?”

“No problemo.”

“She might start taking photos for posterity, and I don’t think I—”

“Rodney, can I suggest you take this conversation to a private channel rather than the citywide comm?”

“…sorry Elizabeth.”

Cahaya Semu

Bulan ketiga telah berjalan setengahnya. Perputaran waktu terasa kian segera. Rotasi bumi semakin kencang kurasa. Tiba waktunya perahuku untuk berlabuh seketika. Lantaran mengisi bahan bakar dan bahan pangan telah tiba. Kuputuskan pada dermaga di depan sana. Sebab penerangannya amat terang menyala. Seakan memanggil perahuku untuk singgah padanya.

Tiba perahuku pada dermaga ini. Jangkar dan layar telah siap untuk menepi. Aku pun sudah tak sabar untuk bertemu dan berbincang bersama makhluk kembali. Namun, yang kuharap rupanya hanya mimpi. Pada dermaga ini tiada kehidupan barang sekali. Tak ada makhluk bahkan penerangan yang sedari tadi memanggili. Lampu yang sedari tadi menyala selama pelayaranku bagaikan kuasi. Aku terjebak pada dermaga ini sendiri. Sepi dan sunyi menyelimuti.

Delapan jam sudah aku mendarat. Mentari mulai menyapa dan berbagi sinar hangat. Kuputuskan untuk segera meninggalkan dermaga dengan cepat. Sebab tiada yang kujumpa barang sesaat. Rupanya sang penerangan hanya pura-pura menyala untuk menarik minat. Agar perahuku singgah pada dermaganya yang nyenyat.

Perahuku kini mulai berlayar kembali. Tak kuhiraukan lagi segala tentang dermaga tadi. Berbagai akal untuk mengelabui. Membuatku sungguh lara hati. Akan selalu kukenang agar aku tak lagi menjajakan kaki.

Satu malam sudah perahuku berlayar bebas. Pelayaran yang melelahkan namun cukup membuatku puas. Sebab aku tak lagi terjebak pada alam yang buas.

Angstpril Day Twenty-Five: Nothing Lasts Forever

“I can always count on you, can’t I?”

Yori’s core lurches, her systems flooding with shame and guilt. In the memory Tron smiles at her, adoring. Trusting. And the version of her beside him responds so easily, so sure of herself.

“Always.”

She closes the file.

 Yori has never forgotten that promise. It haunts her as much as any of her mistakes—as much as the shadows that hunt her.  Always . She’d meant it in that moment, with her entire being. She’d done everything in her power to keep it. 

She fought beside Tron to take down the MCP. She followed him to Flynn’s system, left her own work and any hope of reuniting with her User behind to stay beside him. 

And things were calm for a little while. It was easy to be there for him, for the two of them to move forward together. 

When tensions on the Grid began to rise, she offered what council and comfort she could. But things snowballed far too quickly. As more conflict arose they spent less and less time together, distracted by their own problems, their own responsibilities. 

Yori wasn’t there when Clu turned on Tron. She wasn’t there when he was tortured, brainwashed and warped beyond recognition. She is far away from the cage Rinzler prowls in now. She may never be beside him again.

Yori would have kept her promise, given the chance. Sometimes, though, she thinks she never should have made it in the first place.
