I never really liked the fact the whole fandom with their “lineages” because like
it’s very simplified & falls too closely with typical Nuclear family dynamics and with Jedi, it’s just not the case. Take the “Shatterpoint Lineage”. Its focus all on Windu’s famed ability and doesn’t address the fact that it’s more complex than that.
Everyone usually acknowledges Cysin Myr as his master but Yoda also helped trained Mace. Then Mace trained Depa. This image collection does exclude the fact she tutored Xaran Raal so closely she could of taken him as a Padawan. Then you have Kanan, who trained both Ezra and then Sabine, the latter in lightsaber combat and then her training is picked up by Ahsoka, whose also helped Ezra & Kanan in the past.
I just think it’s far more potent to really take into consideration the actual relationships between characters instead of assigning them to roles akin to a nuclear family and replacing “parents” with “master”. It definitely adds more complexity considering Ahsoka & Yoda aren’t pulled into a “Disaster Lineage” because that Jedi Line includes two Sith Lords & again, doesn’t acknowledge how he’s trained countless others (including a Inquisitor).

Out of curiosity what is the deal with this fandom about who Mace’s master was. Like legends and canon give different answers but from what I remember of my last round of wikiing, neither of them said Yoda and yet I see lots of fics that say he was trained by Yoda. For why, when we could have Cyslin Myr?
(I’m biased I have recently become interested in mirialans)

So I was doing the dishes and listening to the Mechanism and I had an idea. I’ve been wanting to try my hand at animatics for a very long time and I had several very clear ideas for Star Wars animatics set to Mechanisms songs. I’m not sure I even have the skill set for this but here are my ideas:
For the Clones:  The Toy Soldier’s Song (GPTVMK). I had this vison of the third verse from The Toy Soldier’s Song, “Whoever's uniform you wear/ No loyalties to hold or share” that verse. That verse should be Order 66.
Vader gets the first bit of Sleeping Beauty (OUATIS), particularly Ashes’ version from the Tragic Horror Act so while Jonny says “well, it’s a revolver” show Luke with his blaster while his lightsaber is right next to it and half out of frame.
The Shatter point Lineage (Plus Sabine, Jacen, and grey which brings the number up to eight giving everyone one verse) gets Our Boy Jack. Verse 1: Cyslin Myr (who I unfortunately don’t know a whole lot about) is speaking to Mace Windu about fighting for justice in general. Verse 2: Mace Windu then passes this on to Depa Billaba as the Clone wars begin, reassuring her that the Order will still stand after the war. Verse 3 She discusses the role of duty and dignity in the face of hopelessness with Grey. Verse 4 is them passing these ideas on to Caleb/Kannan as the war drags on. Verse 5 is Kannan talking to Ezra about the same ideas, hope in the face of darkness, but also that the light can come from other people as they discuss Ezra’s brush with the Darkside and Kannan’s own issues with alcohol. Verse 6 is Ezra as he takes more leadership in the rebellion, helping organize and protect all of their secret hide outs across various planets. Verse 7 is Sabine, telling a young Jacen Syndulla about their older brother Ezra. and Verse 8 is an adult Jacen Syndulla, who is part of the fight against the First Order. With all of this planned out, I might make this into a song fic.
Rex teaches the rebellion a bunch of songs from the clone wars, including Gassed Last Night, Pump Shanty, and Drunk Space Pirate.

Shatter point Lineage!!!
Tumblr media
Image description: it’s an illustration of Mace Windu, Cyslin Myr and T'ra Saa from Star Wars. Mace is in the front with his purple lightsaber pointed sideways. He’s frowning like he’s concentrated. Cyslin is behind him with her green- yellow lightsaber right above his in a slightly more raised angle. Her expression is similar to Mace’s. T'ra is standing behind both of them, a somber look on her face. She’s holding her green lightsaber straight, pointed upward. There’s a group of white sparkles whirling around her saber. End of description.

Shatterpoint Shuffle
I decided to have a bit of fun with @bitter-chocolate-stars's cracky idea about time traveling clones and tiny Obi-Wan, as aided and abetted by @krazykupidspoems.
-
Padawan Mace Windu entered the Kybuck Clan crĂšche. scanning the tiny initiates currently engaged in free play. He stopped dead in his tracks as he caught sight of one initiate, who was offering their sippy cup to the air.
His Master bumped into him, resting a hand on his shoulder.
"Is something wrong, Padawan?" Master Myr asked.
Mace pressed his back against her, wanting to get out of the room.
"That initiate," he said, swallowing a wave of nausea. "They... The shatterpoints. They're made of shatterpoints!"
The initiate in question was talking to an imaginary friend, oblivious to Mace's discomfort. They pulsed in the Force, surrounded by fracture lines and shards of barely-glimpsed potential. Shifting, twisting, changing; Mace pressed his thumb into the base of his wrist, trying to suppress the dizziness.
"Is that so?" Master Myr leaned over his shoulder, looking at the initiate. "How interesting."
The initiate's head whipped around, locking eyes with Mace, who tried once again to back away. They scrambled to their feet and ran over, beaming up at him.
"Gen'ral Windu! Ponds says he misses you!" They held their arms out. "Up!"
For a heartbeat one of the shards grew bigger, giving Mace the impression of... eyes, maybe. Or blood.
"Ponds?" He echoed, stooping to pick them up. He didn't want this walking nest of shatterpoints anywhere near him, but some imperatives were too big to override.
"General," his Master murmured behind him.
"Uh huh!" The initiate flopped against his chest, thumb inserted in their mouth, talking around it. "He says s'not your fault, it was that b-" They broke off, glancing aside. "Huh? A bad word? Oh, okay! It was the bad lady's fault."
Guileless grey-blue eyes stared up at him. A flicker, and they were older and filled with grief. Another flicker and they were younger, dancing with humor. Another flicker.
Mace blinked to clear it away, swallowing his queasiness.
"Thank you for telling me, initiate," he said, trying to sound sincere.
"You seem very knowledgeable, little one," Master Myr said. "Do you know my Padawan well?"
"Uh huh!" They paused mid-nod, glancing aside. "Uh uh!" They shook their head. "I will someday? That's what Cody says!"
"And who is Cody?"
He could feel Cyslin rubbing small circles against his back, but while he tried to take comfort from it he still felt as if he was cuddling a bomb.
"He's- oh right! I need to int'duce myself!" Removing their thumb from their mouth, they held their hand out over Mace's shoulder. "I'm Obi-Wan Kenobi! And some day I'm gonna be a Master!"
The named echoed in the Force, a susurration.
The crĂšchemaster saved him at that point, coming over to whisk Obi-Wan away for a nap.
"I hope Obi-Wan didn't trouble you too much," Master Tlah said, once everyone had been settled. "He has a very active imagination, even for a human toddler."
"That's quite alright, isn't it, Mace?" Cyslin elbowed him.
Mace bowed. "Yes, of course. It was fine, Master Tlah," he lied.
The two Masters chatted for a bit before he and Cyslin finally left the crĂšche.
"So," she said, in a tone Mace had come to dread. "Young Obi-Wan seems very interesting."
"That's one way of putting it," he muttered.
"Perhaps this is the Force's way of giving you a hint."
He side-eyed her, wariness prickling between his shoulders. She caught the look, grinning as she ruffled his braids.
"My poor, suspicious Padawan," she teased. "All I'm saying is that if he's still 'made of shatterpoints' by the time he comes of age, he might benefit from having a Master who understands what that means."
He turned to stare at her in open-mouthed horror, making her laugh.
"Absolutely not," he said. "I'm still a Padawan! I'll probably still be a Padawan by then!"
"We'll see, my little General, we'll see."
She continued down the hall, leaving Mace to wallow in a sense of impending doom. A flicker of possibility off to one side, carrying the suggestion of laughter.
"Absolutely not," he repeated, hoping the Force believed him.

How many Jedi lineages actually have names? Cause I know Yoda's and Mace's does, did we ever come up with a name for Cal's? (I'm sure I'm missing other lineages, feel free to let me know of any I didn't list)
Yoda-Dooku-Quigon-Obiwan-Anakin-Ahsoka-Sabine = Disaster Lineage
Coming from Obiwan-Luke-Leia-Grogu-Ben Solo-Rey-(the other kids at the school?)=Also disaster Lineage??
Cyslin Myr-Mace Windu-Depa Billaba-Kanan Jarrus(Caleb Dume)-Ezra Bridger-(Jacen hopefully?) = Shatterpoint Lineage
Yaddle-Jaro Tapal-Cal Kestis-(Kata potentially?) = ???
Also how did Mace's Lineage get its name?
I should draw like, family trees for these

Hi I saw your Mace and Luminara as Padawan sibling post! Do you think they were both trained by Cyslin Myr? Because frankly I love the idea generally and also Cyslin having a non-mirialan Padawan and then later a mirialan one despite the usual mirialan Jedi tradition fits perfectly with my ideas about her backstory (I am insane about mirialans rn would you be interested in a conlang)
Hello there! I think it’s definitely a possibility considering we don’t know for a fact who Luminara’s Master was and since it’s not uncommon for Jedi Masters to train more than one Padawan in their lifetime it’s definitely plausible given the age difference between Luminara and Mace. It would be an interesting concept for sure!

more of the glass abyss:
SO THE REPUBLIC DOESN'T HAVE LAWS AGAINST CANNIBALISM THAT'S NICE.
('the flesh of sapient creatures was considered a great delicacy' on more than one world that mace windu has visited. 'frowned upon' but 'no law to stop out out [on] the rim', says the glass abyss. 'those damn tarkins and their fucking european colonial rule congo free state i mean their "carrion plateau"', squint i.)
t'ra saa is back! and n'kata del gormo, yoda's own master. not as the sole teachers of mace and yoda, respectively, but as teachers, still (i headcanon t'ra as cyslin myr's master, so it's t'ra > cyslin > mace). there's no gender assigned to t'ra here (that's me in the corner, making claws at the air, going 'why does a TREE have MAMMARIES?' @ legends)
metagos is definitely an interesting planet. not only is it crystal, but the radiation from the solar pulse that cooked the surface has caused some of the animals and plants to transform. it has its own special, see-through duraslug.
me, hearing there are worm-spiders: oh. great. (this was not great)
good thing this is a book not visual media.
the sa'ad: spiderworm-tending matriarchal silk-weaver culture. thank you for having a textile-prominent culture, steven barnes, though, uh, the whole 'they lived in peace and harmony with the world before the evil upper dwellers invaded' is giving me 'peaceful matriarchy until the stinky patriarchal indo-europeans obviously invaded' vibes.
'one of mace's hobbies was speculating on the origins of life from one planet to another' mace windu, evolutionary anthropologist ~sorry, sentientologist as sw says~ (should be sophologist, really, since anthro is greek and both sapient and sentient are latin)
once again, steven, i must talk with you about comparisons. saying that the floating palace has a 'series of personal chambers that rivalled those of the jedi temple: living quarters, libraries, kitchens, [...] the master bedroom suite [...]' implies that that the 'personal' chambers of this floating palace and the jedi temple are of a similar state and size.
'the mayor, a weak-chinned human named mignon fat' that is A NAME.
'qui-gon favoured precise and extended strokes, keeping enemies at a distance' why hello there, dooku's teaching.
STAR WARS HAS PANSPERMIA THEORIES. this is great. i love universe-building like this. the force must make doing science SO COMPLICATED. have you really figured out which combination of minerals makes that pea plant grow the best or are you accidentally using the living force to make it look like that's the best one?
there's a bit in here about mace attending military meetings over the years so i'm choosing to believe this is not just about the stark hyperspace war but ALSO about the yinchorri uprising.
we have a BIRTHDATE for mace windu: 7905.355, which puts his birthday as 04.20, if my way of doing the crc (judicial 10-month) is correct (which it is. once scum & villainy accepts that it made a typo that puts half of its years off by 1). i leave this without comment.
there is a lot in here about how much choice the jedi have to make that choice, since it's as a very small child (usually). mace's people on haruun kal have a lovely ceremony in which they put him on a blanket, with a fruit in one corner, a pyramid-shaped jigsaw puzzle that can be reconfigured, and an empty lightsaber hilt (borrowed from visiting jedi who had come because they were looking for community and sustenance because the force led them to baby mace windu) because they cannot decide his fate for him, he must.
it's all tied up in the dreams that mace is having (being sent) about his own infancy and the ability to choose (and choosing without realizing what was being chosen). (i did suspect where his dreams were originating and i was right)
'he knew more than he had said but was having trouble accessing it' hi yes that's it. that's how my brain works when it's having trouble.
during his evaluations, mace lets anakin fight him. HE RESPECTS THIS BOY. also, official confirmation that they knew about the slave chip and got it out. how many years since tpm has fandom been fighting over this? all of them.
PRAKITH LAVA CAKE. and did you get that recipe from darth andeddu himself?
of course everything tumbles along and there are two factions controlling the city, one by two people joined together, chulok: aka chu and lok, a farakai and a rodian, respectively. the farakai are a new species and apparently able to connect through a muscle, bone, and nervous system bridge between shoulders that connects them to another person (like a dyad but for non-force-sensitives?) and sybil, who is bigger than a hut and has many, many children who do her bidding. the conflict is inevitable and there's a seeding about 'under-dwellers', which of course are kept away from the population by ancient gates, have grasping tentacles, and generally have a dread cthulhu-esque vibe.
of course, they must be unleashed. and it's not just UNLEASH THE KRAKEN.
oh no
it's UNLEASH THE HORDE OF FUNGUS ZOMBIES THAT CANNOT BE KILLED IN ANY WAY THAT MATTERS BECAUSE THEY, TOO, ARE CONTROLLED BY THE PLANET
because the planet is alive and all linked in a web.
and the worm-spiders are the original inhabitants and are hooked into it, as well. and can instruct the zombie mushroom army.
so there's a zombie mushroom army. mace is just '... hm. are they all related somehow?' and i can HEAR him trying to draw evolutionary trees in his head.
'may the web be with you.'
alderaanian roses don't have thorns but have extrusions shaped like thumbs? sorry alderaan but that's the worst rose.

Mace "I swore an oath" Windu is one of my favorite shitpost-y headcannons.
It's just so funny to me.
So there's the fannon(?) concept of new masters and Padawan having an oath like the ones for the knighting ceremony, just with an extra bit about teaching and learning and general apprenticeship stuff.
Then the cannon concept of Mace having two masters, with the first being Cyslin Myr and the second being Yoda (cannon) or Tr'a Saa (legends).
What I'm saying is that since Cyslin seemingly passed before completing Mace's training, he actually has no idea what the typical transition from Padawan to Knight is like. So, being the paragon of logical decision making, he's like "my (now former) Padawan made a new oath but I never did. Mine still stands, so my duties are basically the same."
The rest of Mace's colleagues catch onto this pretty fast, but any time they try and approach him about it he hits them with the "😐 I swore an oath." And he cannot be convinced that it doesn't apply now that his Padawan's a knight because if it stopped applying that would be a clause in the oath??? Show him the clause??? That's right they can't because there isn't one. He is a Master until he dies. He swore an oath.
