⛔️ TW: mention of anorexia and drugging❗️

♡ Venus Square Mars may attract obsessive people. In particular, people who obsess over their looks or fetishize them in some way. Brooke Shields had a whole nation obsessed with her at the mere age of 12. Eugenia Cooney has infamously attracted hoards of anorexia fetishists with her content. People with this placement may have a higher risk of drastic weight loss or gain.

♡ Either I meet too many Capricorn Suns by coincidence or it's a rather common placement. One reasoning could be that April is an ideal month for marriage in many places, especially ones where it gets unbearably hot in June. Spring adds to April's allure. ✧ I've also noticed this aspect in almost all Bollywood IT girls of their time: Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, Anushka Sharma, Ayesha Takia, Dia Mirza, Divya Bharti, Parveen Babi - all loved by the general public despite the media scrutiny and misogyny that prevails within the industry.

my top shows of 2024 (better late than never)

1. jack and joker (act surprised)

this was my first ever thai show and GOSH was i in for a ride.. i legit started watching this for fun because i saw an edit and i found the name ‘joke’ very funny… oh how times change.

this show was made for me, it’s perfect to me, i can talk about it forever and i will.

2. peaceful property

to think i almost didn’t watch this because the poster didn’t interest me 😭

but this is so underrated i think? it was everything to me, each story was special and made me feel so many things. the phoomvicha episode made me cry the most, along with ep 8 😞

3. last twilight

this is the 2nd show from P’Aof that i’ve seen and i think he’s gotten a spot in my favourite directors list. definitely not without faults, but still unique and beautiful and i loved it. also cried a hell lot… and i hope i can get mhok’s fart proudly shirt one day.

4. let free the curse of taekwondo

my first ever korean drama and it will not be the last!! i loved this so much, i only wish it was longer. i’m patiently waiting for all my exams to end so i can watch all of hwang da-seul’s filmography.

5. i hear the sunspot

so many firsts in this post- this is the show that introduced me to the world of asian bl… my first ever asian drama <3

i love kohei & taichi with all of my heart and although they seem to be the kings of miscommunication, they found each other in the end. and i desperately want to try that burger.

6. interview with the vampire s2

iwtv is my kind of crazy, i love them all 🤲

not much to say about this one but it’s one of the 3 shows i’ve given a perfect 5/5 rating so far. (others are j&j and derry girls).

patiently waiting for season 2🥹

these two had my entire heart 😭😭 something about this show that makes me feel so much comfort… and it’s gorgeous so that’s a plus. (my first ever taiwanese drama- sorry)

this was just so cute 🥹 they’re adorable and it’s just a light and fluffy show and i love that. i took care of an abandoned kitty for a while and named her takara because i considered her my treasure lol.

Asian dramas and my favorite types of characters

There are my favorite types of characters as a list. A villain with a fatal weakness

Drama: The Scholar Who Walks the Night /밤을 걷는 선비 Character: Gwi Screentime: Secondary Gwi is an ancient vampire and a master of puppets (and Joseon's king is the main of them). He is merciless, invincible and scheming all the drama long, until he accidentally kills a girl, who was his hostage and recalcitrant puppet from her childhood on and was the only one who could scold him and deny him. Nothing about it is said directly in the drama, but after her death he goes insane, kills all of his puppets and this way causes his own death. So, I suppose, she was his only weakness, and I like this type of a personal drama for a villain.

Drama: Moonlight Mystique /白月梵星 Character: Mo Li Screentime: Minor The shell of Devil lord Mo Li (which has got his own consciousness) falls in love with the demon girl (and has a very complex enemies-to-lovers relationship with her). Later, Devil lord occupies his shell, cornering shell's consciousness into the darkest corner of his mind, and treats his shell's girlfriend with no particular interest (but better than he could). However, he ends up unintentionally killing her off, and it becomes his doom, because her death releases the ancient weapon, the only thing that can kill him, and the main heroes use it to destroy him. So, she was his only weakness, literally.

Punch-Clock Villain / the Dragon

Drama: 100 Days My Prince /백일의 낭군님 Character: Moo-yeon Screentime: Secondary Moo-yeon works as an assassin for the killer of his father, who is constantly threatening him with the life of his sister. Moo-yeon is a man of a very ill fate: his family was accused of a treason and executed, his sister became a fugitive, he was forced to sell his conscience for his and sister's lives and, as a cherry on the top of this cake, fell in love with the daughter of his captor. And died trying to save her... His story is sooooo sad, but it makes me feel for this character fully. Also, he is the king of whump because the half of the drama he is injured and suffers from his wounds. The whole sad story of this guy is analyzed by me here, here and here.

Drama: The King Loves /왕은 사랑한다 Character: Moo-suk Screentime: Minor Koreans, obviously, like this type of characters, too, so there is another Dragon of the main villain, Moo-suk. In his free from dirty deeds time he h̶e̶l̶p̶s̶ ̶o̶l̶d̶ ̶l̶a̶d̶i̶e̶s̶ ̶c̶r̶o̶s̶s̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶r̶o̶a̶d̶ literally saves cute children and restores self-confidence of young ladies. And then he falls in love, rethinks his life and dies from the hand of his master. Predictable and sad. Still a memorable guy, though. 50 shades of a Byronic Hero

Drama: The Wolf / 狼殿下 Character: Chu Youwen Screentime: Main A Mowgli boy was adopted by a wicked emperor, brought up like a cruel beast and was forced to do some dirty stuff for the emperor. He is mysterious, severe and you never know what's on his mind. As a true Byronic hero. He is some kind of Dragon, too, but it's a Chinese drama and he is a main hero in it, that's why he doesn't really do anything bad during the series. His soul is kind and his heart is pure, but he hides it from his love and deals with all of his problems on his own. It's the reason why all of this drama is a masochistic tango between him and his love. Whump lovers will be happy, too, because he is constantly in chains, pierced by arrows like a hedgehog or works as a slave in mines. As any other Dragon, he has a BE.

Drama: Lost You Forever /长相�� 第一季 Character: Xiang Liu Screentime: Secondary A mysterious demon general, whose name makes everyone shake in fear. A former demon slave, who is true to his word enough to fight for his benefactor even if he knows crystal clearly that it's hopeless and he and his army will die in the end. A man who has huge problems with expression of his emotions in a socially approved way. Edward Cullen of Chinese dramaland. He is enigmatic, with thick vibes of a bad guy, yet very loyal to his benefactor as well as his love and very selfless. Because of this loyalty he will die and the love of his life will never-ever find out about anything he has done for her during the story.

Drama: My Journey to You /云之羽 Character: Gong Shangjue Screentime: Secondary A guy was through trauma in his childhood and it made him look intimidating and unfeeling. A tsundere is born! He coped with his trauma by taking extra responsibilities for everything and everyone and turned to be a walking killing machine instead of a man. But an enemy assassin comes to his life and teaches him how to be a human once more. It's a painful experience, but it`s necessary in order to grow up as a character and is beautifully fulfilled. It was a great joy to know that he survives at the end of the story, it's a rare thing for this type of characters, so even if there is season 2 someday, I will not watch it in order not to spoil my impression of the first one. Drama: Princess Agents / 特工皇妃楚乔传 Character: Yan Xun Screentime: Secondary It's the transformation story, too, like a previous one, but this time it's transformation from an ordinary man to a villain. Prince Yan Xun is a hostage colony prince in a metropolis empire, but he enjoys a noble life along with other nobility youth. The society around him is awful, each of these noble youths is a psycho who appreciate human hunt and so on, but cheerful and easy-going Yan Xun doesn't think their bloodthirstiness could turn against him. When relationship between the metropolis and the colony become tense, though, Yan Xun's friends of yesterday are happy to drink his blood. He loses his whole family and, insanely longing for revenge, slowly turns to one of those monsters himself.

Drama: Fangs of Fortune / 大梦归离 Characters: Li Lun Screentime: Secondary The Great Demon was dumped by his boyfriend because of his aggressive ways of protecting people of his own species and still can't get over their break-up. He goes through all five stages of acceptance of their break-up while being a villain of the story. In the end his obsession brings him to his doom, because he loves his ex-friend too much. He is morally grey yet a versatile and interesting character. I wrote about him here: 1 , 2, 3 and 4.

Drama: A Journey to Love / 一念关山 Character: Li Tongguang Screentime: Minor This guy has got a very realistic personality and background: he is a bastard who was deprived of mother's love since he was a child. The first circumstance made him power-hungry, scheming and outwardly emotionless, the second one made him longing for mother's love on insanely level. So he is invincible outwardly, but turns into a teary mess when it's about his female tutor, who is a mother figure for him. The contrast between these two personalities is enormous and makes this character very alive and interesting. During the drama he will not cope with his Oedipus complex but circumstances will solve this problem for him.

A pure-hearted hero

Drama: Creation of the Gods Ⅰ / 封神三部曲 Character: Ji Fa Screentime: Main It's maybe strange to find this type of characters in the list of my favorite types, but morality and selflessness of a character is very important for me, too. This story is some kind of King Arthur's legend, but in a Chinese way. The emperor is bewitched by a demon and is bringing the kingdom to it's downfall, the Gods are here to find the savior with the help of a magic scroll that can be opened only by a true king. Ji Fa, a hero of this story, doesn't care about scrolls, but his heart is loyal to his kingdom and to his family (in this very order). He genuinely wants to help his friend-prince to be a king his kingdom deserves and, despite awful things that were done to him and his family, doesn`t harden his soul and betray his ideals. And, I suppose, although he isn't aware of this, he IS the future King Arthur of China.

Interesting character decisions

Drama: The Legends/招摇 Characters: Jiang Wu Screentime: Minor This character is something like a rival of the male lead. He is a xinmo - an inner demon of some other character and represents the darkest features of a human's soul. He is a ruthless killer, a dark sorcerer without conscience, but what was very unique, being literary the worst part of a human personality, he values his assistants a lot and genuinely cares for them. A villain is usually a lone wolf. He doesn't trust anyone and doesn't value anyone, his loneliness is usually his weakness and a key to his downfall. So I was pleasantly surprised that sometimes a villain is capable of building healthy relationships with his subordinates.

Drama: Sh**ting Stars / 별똥별 Characters: Do Soo-hyuk Screentime: Minor

This guy truly surprised me. Firstly, he is supposed to be something like a third wheel in relationships of the main couple, but he just calmly got a refusal from the female lead, said "OK" and, absolutely relaxed, proceeded to live his life further. It's something unbelievable for me, because I used to see the insanity caused by an unrequited love to be the plot engine of a lot of dramas. This was a really fun year for games! I got to try some new genres, played a lot of multiplayer games, and got REALLY into a few single-player narrative driven games. When I have more time I'd like to sit down and really reflect on the games that left an impression on me this year.

If I have to sit through another rainbow haired bitch demean the artistic direction of a creator because they chose to depict one of their characters as small and feminine, but still a grown woman, and make the logical leap to declaring that to be 'a child,' I'm going to holler.

There are small women. There are very girly women. and, get this.. sometimes, there are small women that behave immaturely. Up to and including getting emotional and breaking down over stupid shit, and needing reassurance. There are TALL WOMEN that suddenly act like emotionally naked two year olds throwing tantrums because they aren't getting their way.

Often the problems I see women having revolve around being unable to handle all their emotions at any given time and regressing as a deflective defense mechanism. Big girls do that shit too, they just know it's not as cute when a tall woman does it (or don't think themselves as cute when they do it) so they salvage the pride and don't break down as hard, knowing they can't get away with it. And they sure as fuck hate the small 'cute' ones doing it, calling them babies.

Do not take my post and make it into some, "Oh yes! THEY certainly do that! Especially when they're Asian! It's actually rooted in white supremacism and patriarchy!" bullshit. No. It goes deeper than that, don't you dare fucking deflect it this way. Sidestepping the entire topic of race or culture, there's very few surviving cultures on this earth where the phenomenon of women behaving younger or less mature than they are, isn't a thing when they get stressed or giddy, because in many women's hearts, they're still 17. It doesn't make a grown assed woman a fucking child or, "child coded," because she breaks down bawling and wants some consoling and reassurance over something.

Their ethnic and linguistic and cultural background does not matter. Grown women that momentarily act immature and throw on the waterworks are not, "child coded." Not if they're two meters tall, not if they're adult and fully grown, but a meter tall. Some grown women are just gremlins. It just is. Don't project insecurity over lolicon onto grown adults.

If all it takes to be disregarded as "child coded" when you're physically mature and grown, is to be short and have an emotional breakdown, then half you rainbow hairs belong in a daycare or an asylum, no matter how tall or old you are. I've consoled enough of you to be disgusted at the prospect, and I know envy towards tiny cute women when I see it.

It's childish to break down and cry like a two year old that can't control their emotions. It's not being a child when you're a grown assed adult, therefore, "child-coded" is meaningless.

And we're not even talking about the, "800 year old vampire loli" shit. A character established to be a grown woman that is just small and cute and adorable is not a child. No matter how much you try and strain that.

So yes.. I still go "ga ga" over Naruto, BLEACH, Vampire Knight, Ouran High School Host Club, and Full Metal Alchemist… the 5 periodic mangas i read that are still "ongoing"

but then…. it became more often.. i mean.. it is still controllable.. but.. i suppose i'm watching.. in an UNHEALTHY rate.

and so… with watching these dramas.. i found new favorite actors and singers..

and now.. it's a habit of mine to SEARCH youtube every night.. before i sleep [like what i'm doing right now..] of videos of these asian celebrities OUTSIDE of their dramas.. aka… guest shows and variety shows..

and so….. apparently.. yes. I'm a fan.

Japanese. OFFICIALLY my favorite japanese boyband… because…. their songs are AWESOME. it's like.. when you hear it you go…. "wow.. it's a nice feeling" kind of thing. hahaha… so anyway.. a LOT of girls [and i mean A LOT] like MatsuJun of Arashi.. but.. meh.. he's OKAAAAY… hahaha.. i mean, he has appeal all right. like… sex appeal. haha… but.. he's okay.. hahaha As for the leader Ohno Satoshi.. he's a GREAT actor. AWESOME!

Japanese honestly, when i first saw their poster i was like "they're all ugly" but….. can't deny they have APPEAL.. and they tend to grow on you so now.. In Kat-Tun I like.. Kamenashi Kazuya and Akanishi Jin yep….. they're funny. hahahaha… but yeah.. they're still ugly though.. but i think they're hot. yes, hot. i DID say that….. uhm… yeah..

NEWS -Japanese. ok.. so maybe NOT the whole of news.. just their leader Yamashita Tomohisa… Yamapi.. for short. He's.. COOL. Again, like kame and jin.. when i first heard about him.. i said "I WILL NEVER LIKE HIM!" because my cousin is CRAAAAAAAAZY for him and it's annoying to hear her talk about him 24/7….. but.. after watching one of his shows…. WHOOOOOO. i like him too. hahahaha….. if kame and jin are HOT.. this one is SIZZLING. hahahaha

Castlevania is back. But in Paris during the French Revolution

Castlevania: Nocturne Review

When Warren Ellis’s Castlevania ended back in 2021, I was sad it ended but if felt like we have a good story and ending for our protagonists and it doesn’t need a sequel. Who wants to see Trevor and Sypha raising a baby anyway?

Then Castlevania Nocturne happened 2 years later. Now created by Clive Bradley instead. It had a lot of similar vibes as its predecessor. But somehow, I still kinda miss Trevor’s banters.

Our new heroes are Richter Belmont and Maria Renard from the Rondo of Blood game but their designs are from the PSP remake Dracula X Chronicles especially Maria’s pink ensemble, while Richter kept his shorter hairstyle from the original.

I like the backstories for a new character, Anette, who was a minor character from the original, into a former slave girl turned revolutionary with the power of earth and steel. Olrox, another character from Symphony of the Night, was changed from a typical vampire to a vampire with Aztec origins from the New World (the first series was set in Europe so mostly vampires then were pale and white with some Asian looking vampires mixed in so the change to Olrox is welcome). We also have a speaker (mage) and a demon forger character and a paladin type character. They add flavor to the story, I’ll just say that heheh.

For the villains, Dracula is no more, stuck in the corridors of hell from last we saw in the origseries. We have vampire/succubus type character. Morrigan and Demitri from Darkstalkers can never char. Then the new big bad is Erzsebet Bathory, a fusion of the historical countess/serial killer and Sekhmet, Egyptian goddess of war. Idk how that works, does vampirism make your bronze skin pale? Idk.

The combat scenes are ok, they’re good. I like how Richter can fuse magic with his whip, that kinda feels like something Nathan Graves from Circle of the Moon does but who cares. Maria retained her powers summoning cute versions of the shijin (Suzaku, Seiryu, Byakko, Genbu) and idk how she learned that, was she secretly Asian? Well the original game is made in Japan, so that’s the reason probably. There isn’t a fight scene that’s epic like from the original series, like that fight of Isaac vs the Magician and Legion, and the fight with Trevor vs Death. Maybe, they’re reserving the epic ones next season? If we have another one heheh.

Also, I audibly gasped after the final scene. That scene alone warrants a next season.

Overall, i liked it. Has a lot of potential.

Send in the Clones

One of my fascinations is Barbie clones, as what's cloned for the dollar stores tells us a lot about what's really popular in fashion dolls. For instance, back around 2014, Family Dollar and Dollar General were loaded with Monster High clones of quality ranging from "incredibly cute" to "you must be kidding me." Today in 2023, you'd barely guess MH had existed: not a weird vampire-werewolf hybrid with scanty rooting to be seen!

While trying to find a good Asian market in the next big town north (because I was craving more of the puku puku tai I got in Little Tokyo), we stumbled into, and through, the 99 Cents Only rebrand called The 99 Cent Store.

The store had a decent-sized doll section, including our friend Sofi, above. She stands out among clones because her outfit doesn't make the slightest bit of sense. It's a pretty impressive ball gown by clone standards, with even long gloves! And then... mob cap. Why? Is she hoping to be whisked back to the 18th century, a la Dark Shadows?

Sofi has a more modern and stylish counterpart, Sofia. (None of these brands means anything much. They are slapped on a box at a factor in Chengdu. The girls likely have the identical Chengdu body, and I didn't buy any to double check.)

Sofia's clothes are surprisingly complex, especially that pink outfit with an actual chain belt. If I were still doing body transplants, the brunette would be tempting, as that's one of my favorite clone faces.

A typical clone goes more for the "Barbie shows the ravages of drug abuse" look seen here.

I'll admit, I'm weirdly fascinated by the red braids: that's more creativity than the cheapest clones used to have. (The rooting will be horrible, though.) Having actual belts (or heck, even fake belts) on the outfits is surprisingly posh.

Sofia has a rival, Davina, who likes her glitz.

Davina has arms so skinny that she can't lift her own heavy sequined dresses, but terrific eyeliner and another face-up that's growing on me. Presumably she's paying for those party togs in her day job as a doctor.

Finally, I thought this was a clone, and it sort of is, but it's from a known name manufacturer. Meet "Spring Break" Raynea from Mermaid High, by Spin Master (who briefly, circa 2011, brought the world Liv dolls, still among my faves).

This here is what would have happened if MGA, for their Bratz revival circa 2016, had gone for the X High trend and the mermaid craze all at once, instead of whatever that thing was that they did. While these girls participate in the "sweetening and softening" aspect of modern fashion dolls, they still look like they'd be a bad influence, which was part of the charm of original Bratz.

Had I realized these gals had articulated elbows and knees, I would have been seriously tempted, because they're pretty cute and such a brilliantly absurd marketing ploy.
