TWILIGHT characters as love tropes
ft. carlise, esme, emmet, rosalie, edward, jasper, alice, jacob, seth, leah, paul, charlie, bella
a/n: with songs to each character
༻♛༺
⤷ Carlisle Cullen - rich love
Carlisle is a very rich man which means he will spoil you a lot. Not only with expensive gifts but also with a lot of attention and affection.
Every time when he gets home from work, he welcomes you with a kiss and warm hug.
When he has a day off, he will cook with you (even tho he cannot eat it, it's just about the time he can spend with you) or you will lay on his lap with his hand stroking your hair and book in his other hand, reading to you.
Every Friday he will take you to a fancy restaurant and than for a slow walk around the nearest park.
On your birthday or on International Women's Day (or any other 'special' day) he will spoil you even more than on normal days. Expensive jewelry, perfumes, clothes, shoes,...
He will bring you flowers at least once every two weeks. And every July he will take you on vacation and you can choose where.
Lolita - Lana Del Rey
⤷ Esme Cullen - falling in love fast
Esme is such a kind soul so it's no surprise that you two fell in love with each other fast.
She will take you on a date every Saturday. Mostly coffee dates are her favourite. The two of you can talk for hours while drinking delicious coffee.
She will also enjoy baking with you (even tho she cannot eat/taste them)
She has many polaroids with you on them or with the both of you on them and has them hang in her closet or the small table beside her bed.
She loves when you paint her nails and massage her legs and she will always return the favor.
She loves sunny days but because she's a vampire and her skin sparkle on the sun, she cannot go out where people can see her, BUT she can go somewhere private like meadow or forest where you two can be alone and on the sun!
Sofia - Clairo
⤷ Emmett Cullen - he fell first and harder
Emmett was absolutely over the moon when you two started dating, because he knew from the start that you two are just meant to be.
He loves, loves, LOVES when you sit on his lap. He doesn't care if you are stroking his hair or doing make-up on him, he just want you in his lap, so he can embrace you with his big arms and muscular body.
He'll dance goofily around the bedroom with you to some catchy hip-hop songs he has found.
He loves cuddling with you especially when he can be the big spoon, because he likes how tiny you're compared to him.
Matching pyjamas and make polaroids in those pyjamas, which happens to be one of his favourite memory and polaroids.
He doesn't really like reading books but he always wants you to read to him, because he loves your voice.
She's Kinda Hot - 5 Seconds of Summer
⤷ Rosalie Cullen/Hale - you fell first but she fell harder
Rosalie has trust issues and trauma because of her past so she wouldn't fall in love easily nor fast, but trust me when she does fall in love; she loves hard.
She loves having spa day with you which includes face masks, painting nails, shared warm bath and much more.
She will take you to the mail shopping almost every day and will buy you everything you look at.
She doesn't like much PDA but she will hold your hand in public but if she gets jealous, she will show the person she's jealous off who you belong to.
She doesn't show it to others just you, but she loves cuddles. She loves when you lay next to her, face to face so she can see your beautiful face.
She's also very protective over you, so if any guy or a girl makes you feel uncomfortable (or unsafe), tell her and she will make sure they won't approach you ever again.
Prey - The Neighbourhood
⤷ Edward Cullen - first and only love
Edward waited so many years for you, but it was worth it because he finally got you.
He loves when you kiss his forehead even tho he has to lean down because of your height difference, it makes him feel safe. Still his favourite place to kiss you is on your lips.
Edward will write poets for you and about you on small piece of paper and then put them somewhere in your room where you will notice them like your closet or on your book, laptop, notebook, pillow,...and he will bring you your favorite flowers right after the previous ones he gave you have withered.
He will also write songs about you (or for you) and then play them to you on the piano. Which he absolutely loves because you sit right next to him and look at him with those beautiful eyes of yours full of love. Edward cannot read your mind but he can sure read your eyes, the small spark and the love in them when you look at him, he just loves it!
Loves cuddling with you, his favourite position is when you lay on his chest or when he's the big spoon, face to face or hugging you from behind.
He loves having deep talks with you and he'll tell you about his childhood or about the time he was born in.
Follow You - Imagine Dragons
⤷ Jasper Cullen/Hale - unconditional love
Jasper can be sometimes insecure just as much as Edward, they even have similar reasons... Jasper is afraid of him hurting you, he's afraid that he won't be able to control himself around you, but your words of affirmation and gently touch will calm him down.
Jasper doesn't talk much, he rather listens and he loves listens to you. It doesn't matter what you are talking about, he just loves your voice.
He will take you for a horse ride because he loved it back when he was a human and because he was a cowboy, but you two will have to share the horse because he wants your arms around him.
At first he was a bit scared of cuddling with you (again because of his control) but soon as your hand went to his hair, he melted. Both of you realized how touch starved he's so now cuddling is an everyday thing.
Jasper is a gentleman like Edward or Carlisle so he will also bring you flowers every even week.
He'll read to you to make you fall asleep, because his smooth voice is like a lullaby to you. But if Jasper feels that you are anxious, he will calm you down with his gift and than talk to you what made you anxious, eventually he will cuddle you.
R U Mine? - Artic Monkeys
⤷ Alice Cullen - any universe
Alice (because of her gift) always knew you were the one, her one and only true love. So when she first saw you, she couldn't help but babbling to her adoptive siblings all day how amazing you are and how she's already in love with you.
She'll go to the mail with you and make small fashion show with you in the cabins with all the cute outfits she found for you and you for her.
She's mostly the small spoon (sometimes she is the big spoon but depends on the situation) while cuddling because she loves when you hold her in your arms and stroke her back.
Outside, in front of other people, she will always hold your whole arm, not just palm.
If you have trouble falling asleep, she will gladly sing to you while stroking your hair.
She'll buy matching clothes, jewerly or nail polish, because she loves when you two match your outfits or other accesories.
i wanna be your girlfriend - girl in red
⤷ Jacob Black - whatever it takes
Jacob is willing to do anything and everything for you, his imprint. He will kill for you, he will die for you, he will do just everything.
Jacob can be sometimes insecure because he isn't that rich like the Cullens and he thinks you deserve someone who will treat you like a queen, so once again he's willing to prove you that he's worthy of your love.
He'll make you a small wolf and your favourite flower out of wood and attached it into a bracelet, which he will eventually give you to your birthday.
He's also a big cuddle bug, because he's so warm will make you comfortable enough to fall asleep. He's most of the time the big spoon because he feels like he's protecting you but he doesn't mind to be the little spoon. Cuddling also leaves his scent on you so every vampire or shape-shifter (wolf) can smell who you belong to.
He'll take you on motorcycle rides. Also he will drop you at your school on his motorcycle and then he will pick you up. Also he'll let you ride on his back while he's in his wolf form.
Jacob doesn't like fancy restaurants, he prefers his or your bed with some snacks and movies, cuddling of course!
Galway Girl - Ed Sheeran
⤷ Seth Clearwater - love at first sight
Seth hoped that he will met his imprint someday and he heard from the others how amazing the feeling is to imprint on someone, but no one really prepared him to him because when he first saw you, your beauty hit him like a brick. And he finally understood the feeling because all he could see was you...
Seth will make sure you are always in a good mood with him, either he could tell you some stupid joke or cheesy pick-up line.
He maybe look like a cute baby but don't let his cute face fool you because he won't hesitate to kill for you, so it makes him really protective over you.
In his wolf form he's like a big puppy but only to you and he loves giving you piggy back rides in his wolf form.
Cuddling really depends on his mood; if he's in good mood he will be the little spoon with his head placed on your lap; if he's in a bad mood (mostly when he's jealous) he'll be the big spoon to show others that he can protect you.
He loves baking with you but he's clueless so he will just stand there and watch you or mix some ingredients, often sneaks up a kiss on the cheek while baking.
Dandelions - Ruth B.
⤷ Leah Clearwater - enemies to lovers
At first Leah hated the fact that she actually had a imprint, so she would try to stay away from you as much as possible and when she couldn't; she would have some nasty comments towards you, but it hurt her as hell when she saw how sad she made you or worst insecure.
She tried hard to stay away from you but she failed, miserably. She needed you, she needed to be with you, so she will explain everything to you same as she would apologize for her acting.
Very protective of you, anyone could just try and test her patience.
At first she wouldn't want you to be near her while she was in her wolf form because she was much bigger and stronger so she was afraid that she could hurt you, but she became a sucker for scratches behind her ear.
Seth will often tease his big sister because she's really soft when it comes to you, which makes Leah give Seth few playful slaps.
When it comes to cuddling, Leah is the big spoon because she has the urge to protect you and being the big spoon makes her feel like she's protecting you in you sleep.
Running With The Wolves - AURORA
⤷ Paul Lahote - rough love
With the term 'rough love' i mean that Paul is passionate lover and is willing to do anything for his imprint, you.
Paul isn't very patient when it comes to people but you are an exception. Still he's aggressive when someone push his buttons but you are always here to drag him away and calm him down.
Just a single touch and Paul's full attention is on you. Which brings me to the fact that he turns into a puppy when you touch him, your touch is just to comforting.
He's the big spoon because he feels like he protects you and it makes his scent stay on you.
He can get jealous very easily, he trusts you but he doesn't trusts the others and he doesn't want any boys or girls too close to his imprint.
Loves everything you cook or bake and will always eat everything.
Overprotective, if any vampire even dare to touch you, he'll kill him.
Little Freak - Harry Styles
⤷ Charlie Swan - old love
Charlie is old school but still a huge gentleman.
He will bring you flowers every time you had a bad day and some chocolates when you had a good day to make it even better.
He loves watching old movies or crime/detective movies with you, with his arm around your shoulder.
When he has day off, you two will go on a picnic date which always ends up with you laying on his chest while he's telling you some stories from work.
Every time you bring him a lunch into his police office, he will welcome you with a warm, thankful smile and thank you with a kiss on your cheek.
He will protect you even more than before, when he finds out that there are vampires and werewolfs (shape-shifters).
Burning Love - Elvis Presley
⤷ Bella Swan - teenage love
Bella will be awkward and nervous when she first spoke to you, because you were just too beautiful to be real. But to her surprise she made you fall in love with her which made her so, so happy.
First attempts of trying to cuddle with her or just show her simple romantic affection were awkward because she was just to nervous, eventually she will warm up and feel more comfortable.
She find our that you touch calms her anxiety and nervousness so whenever she's nervous or anxious she will just hold your hand and squeeze it gently.
Charlie was very happy that his daughter found someone like you, which made Bella even more happy when she saw how you, the love of her life and her father get along.
Often having sleepovers at her house when Charlie has night shifts, which always leads to matching face masks and cuddles.
Kisses on the cheek are her favourite, because she can easily turn and give you small peck on your cheek and visa versa.
Electric Love - BØRNS

Your Life Has Only Just Begun - Cullen Clan x GN!Reader (Part 9)
TW: Hospitalisation (being admitted into a hospital) ,, mentions of insects crawling under skin ,, curse words ,, mention of death ,,
Disclaimer: Please do not repost my work to other sites or claim as your own, this is purely written from my imagination and from the help of the franchise. All rights of the main storyline goes to the writers and producers of Twilight.
Summary: Reader wakes up in the hospital after a night they don't really remember, a certain Cullen boy right by their side all throughout their hospital stay. How will they react to the news of what had put them in the hospital?
------------------------------------------------------
Blinding lights. An overpowering smell of cleaning products. Scratchy blue hospital blankets. Y/n woke up to an overpowering bright light above their head, the blanket on top of their body making their skin feel like there were insects crawling inside of them. Their head was pounding, it was like they went out drinking all night. They didn't, did they? When y/n tried to remember what had happened last night, or at least what they thought was last night, they had no recollection of anything. The sound of sheets moving brought y/n's attention to the other side of the room. There he was. Edward. Fucking. Cullen. Hatred started boiling through their blood at the sight of him. How dare he think he as the right to be here. He was probably the reason they were in this intensely white room. "You don't have to pretend to be asleep, you know." The venom that laced their words hurt him, what did he do wrong to cause this bad of a fallout? Edward looked at the person in front of him, they had such pretty h/l h/c hair and the most gorgeous e/c eyes. But those eyes no longer held any emotion, they were cold. "Why do you hate me so much? I can admit I fucked up, I left you on the side of the road in the middle of the night. I hurt you both physically and, and emotionally." His voice cracked half way through his little rant, if it was any other time y/n might have laughed about it but right now, there was too much pain they felt.
The pair of them sat in silence for what seemed like an eternity, neither of them wanting to look at the other. Y/n was about to get up off the bed, Edward being the overprotective idiot he was, he sped over to their side and made the sit back down. "Woah, you need to lay down, you can't just get up after a nasty fall you had two nights ago." Confusion spread across y/n's face as they tilted their head to the side "What nasty fall? Wait, two nights ago? I've been in here two fucking days?!" Their rambling and rapid changing thoughts made it hard for Edward to concentrate, he grabbed their shoulders and made them took at him. "Calm down, will you?" He was blunt, it was quite refreshing actually, he knew what he wanted to say for once; not some extremely anxious teen stuttering over his words. "You fell down the stairs, y/n. Two flights actually. I'm surprised you're not dead." They were confused, how did they fall down the stairs when they were in the living room asleep, they knew that for sure because the pack were out patrolling; they wanted to wait up for the boys and Leah but they accidentally fell asleep. Edward tried reading their thoughts, but somehow he was locked out. How is that possible? He was able to do it just a few seconds ago. "You're lying." Y/n's voice caught him off guard "You know, for a vampire you're a really bad liar." Now that really got him on edge. How did they know about that? He didn't tell them, he only told Bella because of James attacking her. "Who told you?" He didn't even want to know at this point, he just wanted to curl up into a ball and die.
"Jacob told me, I've known for weeks. It's funny, I have to hear it off a wolf, but my best friend? No, he goes and tells his new girlfriend a week after being together. It's ironic. Isn't it, Eddie?" They weren't the same anymore, their voice was monotone. He couldn't do it, he was sick and tried of them hating him so much. "Could you stop hating me for once? I love you, you insufferable ass. But I guess you wouldn't know that because you're so fucking ignorant." The words should have hurt but they didn't care, they didn't feel anything. No happiness, no sadness, y/n was just empty; numb. And no matter how many times Eddie dearest over here would tell them he loved them, it wasn't true. He was infatuated, there is a difference. Bella was his mate, or at least that was what Jacob told them. It was like an imprint, but for vampires, the only difference was they also had a blood singer; the meaning is the name, they're kind of like a mate, their blood sings to a vampire causing them to have uncontrollable thirst, in which the inevitable happens, death or becoming a new born.
Before either of them could continue with their bickering, the door opened revealing Carlisle. "Hello, y/n. How are we feeling today? Any pains or discomforts?" They were silent for a moment, until the decided to ask Carlisle a question instead. "What happened to me two nights ago, Dr.Cullen? Why is my arm this heavily bandaged? Don't bullshit me either, Edward already tried and failed horribly." He looked between Edward and y/n, his son avoiding any type of eye contact; maybe he was feeling guilty? Or maybe he was just embarrassed. "The night we were all out looking for Victoria, she was at the reservation, obviously she broke the treaty but like she cared. I presume she was looking for Bella and instead found you, Jacob came looking for you after hearing a scream and saw you in the stages of turning. Edward and I were the first to get there, we had to get the venom out of you and the only way to do that was to suck it out. But Edward lost control, he almost bled you dry, in the process of me and Jasper pulling him off you, we ruptured your flexor tendon. You had surgery to repair the damage and you had stitches to seal the exterior damages too."
Y/n looked down at their arm, it was numb; maybe that was the pain meds or maybe it was just them, they weren't really sure. Edward couldn't look at either of them, the immense amount of guilt he felt was too much to handle. "You could have killed me. What would you have done if I was in this hospital for an autopsy?" Y/n's words struck Edward right in the heart, he didn't think about the consequences, he never did. "I'm sorry, I never meant to hurt you. I just didn't want you to turn out like me, a monster." Y/n could relate on what he said, they've felt like a monster from the moment they developed their gifts. Like they were an outcast, an alien. But mutual feelings didn't make this situation better, it didn't make it worse either. They sighed, laying down on the hospital bed facing their back to both men in the room. They both took the hint and left the room, hoping y/n would come around to their sense and realize this was the best outcome of the situation.
A couple more days passed and y/n was released from the hospital, Jacob and Embry came to pick them up. "Y/n, where the hell have-" They turned to Jacob and glared at him, earning a laugh. "I swear to Kaheleha, if you finish that sentence I will smother you in your sleep." Who is Kaheleha, you may ask. He was the first Spirit Chief in Quileute history. Billy would tell y/n stories of the Quileute tribe, he usually talked about their ancestor Taha Aki, he was one of the last great spirit chiefs who was well known for his wisdom and for being a man of peace. He was the first shapeshifter of the Quileute tribe and passed down the genes on to three families: The Black, The Uleys, and The Atearas. He was the reason they were all who they were today. Y/n missed hearing the stories of the tribes, they enjoyed hearing every last detail of it. Maybe they would go and ask Billy if they could hear more about it, or they could just bug Jacob into telling them some stories he knows.
The drive back to reservation was nice, Jacob and Embry were talking about random things going on in the pack, while y/n lay their head on Embry's shoulder. They were asleep for majority of the car ride, unaware of the conversation the boys were having. "You imprinted on them, didn't you? That's why you're so protective of them." Embry didn't want to say anything in case y/n heard it, he didn't want to get rejected by his true love and life partner. "I'm glad you finally found them, what's it like? Imprinting, I mean." The best way Embry could describe it was like listening to your favourite song for the first time, unable to process why it took so long to find it. It was like eating you comfort food after a long time of not having it, the feeling of content wash over you as you enjoy every bite of it. It was like feeling every emotion all at once, seeing every memory you have ever lived, it was like seeing yourself through someone else's eyes. This boy loved y/n with everything he had, he just didn't know how to tell them; maybe he never will, maybe he'll just live with the feeling of never being good enough for them. Little did he know, he wasn't the only one after y/n's love.

Paul's Lullaby | part six
<previous | next>
Fall back, stay with Y/N, Sam had ordered Seth. He whines, then turns around and sprints top speed to your cabin.
Paul had never been angrier. He was mad at vampires, he was mad at Bella, he was mad at his friends on patrol, but mostly... he was mad at himself. A vampire had snuck into his home, where you had been, and he didn't even wake up. If you had died, if you had been bit, it would've been entirely his fault.
This tic was in my home, Sam!
Enough, Sam said, focusing on the hunt. Alice said when the snow sticks to the ground.
She was in my home.
Victoria flew across the trail they were running on, and the pair of them turned harshly to follow her. Paul growled.
Later! Sam ordered. And Paul's thoughts turned silent, focusing all his energy on chasing the vampire.
Victoria was a master evader. One of the Cullens had made the assumption that it was her heightened ability. They were still at least a week before the snow stuck to the ground, and this vampire was testing the strength of their lines. But she was getting much more confident.
Paul was terrified that she would take the opportunity to kill you, not only because she almost have you once - but if you were to kill an imprint, you'd severely hurt the pack.
Without stopping his heart, it would've killed him. Paul couldn't bare to face a world without you in it.
They chased her to the riverbank, but when she crossed - they were forced to run along it. She was smirking. Paul was trying not to show how messed up she had scrambled his mind, he didn't want her getting any ideas.
Victoria was the fastest vampire that Paul had encountered, and the smartest. Because of her stupid little power, she evaded them every time. He couldn't wait for the snow to stick. Then these bloodsuckers are done for, and Paul could resume a peaceful existence with you, deep in the woods in your cozy little cabin.
Victoria winked at the wolves, and ran deeper into Cullen territory.
Dammit! Paul was mad. He wanted to pop her head of like a dandelion. He wanted you to be safe, you face crossed his mind and everyone else's.
Go back, Sam said, the rest of us will make sure she doesn't come back.
Seth whined again, circling the house again. They both already knew that Victoria wouldn't double back, but he wanted to do his job right. He stopped and sat in front of the stairs when he was done. You were on the steps, slippers on with a mug of tea in your hand. You really wished Paul was here.
Suddenly Seth stood up, and pressed his nose into your palm, nudging you to pat him between the ears. Once you did he took off running, disappearing into the trees.
"Bye Seth," you said, waving. You took a sip of your tea. Paul emerged from the same direction that Seth ran off.
"Hey honey," he said, lightly jogging towards you. You set your drink beside you, and rushed towards him. He opened his arms, so you threw yourself in them.
Happy to be in his arms, you squeezed him tightly. But then pulled away. Your arms were still locked around each other. Paul leaned down, giving you a needy kiss. He pulled you tightly against him. His mouth was rough against yours, a delicious symphony of lust and love. He didn't want to pull away, but he did.
"I am so sorry," he said.
"You don't have anything to be sorry for," you said. "You came running for me."
"I will always come running for you." Paul scooped you up in his arms, making you gasp as he pulled you up to his chest. He walked you towards the house, holding you low so you can grab your drink, and inside.
"I can walk myself," you said, taking a sip.
"I just want to hold you for a minute," he said. He clenched his jaw when he stepped in the house. The smell of the leech who touched your things lingered in the air.
Paul set you down. "Go to bed."
"Not without you," you said, pouting.
He smiled at that, telling you he would follow you in a few minutes. When you turned to walk away from you, he laid a gentle smack on your butt. You jumped, smirking at him over your shoulder.
While you got nestled into your blankets, you could hear Paul walking around. You decided he was either checking all the doors and windows, or he was investigating what the vampire had been doing in your house. No one was brave enough to say it, but they could've killed you and they didn't.
Paul shuffled into the room a few minutes later. But he didn't lay down, he sat on the edge of his bed, putting his head in his head. You got up, sliding closer to him and holding him to your chest for a change. He let you pull him close, and dropped his hands to wrap them around your waist, his head resting happily on your chest.
"You wouldn't have been in the middle of this if it wasn't for me," he said.
"I'd already be dead if it wasn't for you," you reminded him. He groaned lightly.
"I was so scared," he whispered. "From the moment I realized what the kitchen smelled like. They could've killed you."
"It'll be over soon, right? Didn't you say less than two weeks?" you asked. He nodded.
"I already cleared it with Sam, we're going to be staying at their house until then." He sat up, and looked you in eyes. He brought his hand up to sweep across your cheek. You leaned into it. "No arguments?"
"I see your point," you said. "Our house is lovely but it's very exposed."
"You said our house," he said, smiling at you. Your only answer was another kiss, before you grabbed him by the shoulders and fell back, taking him with you. You both laughed.
"I love you," you said. "But it's almost four and we're both tired."
"I know," he said. "But I just want to hold you right now."
Paul flipped around, holding himself up and hovering over your torso. You couldn't help but glance down at him, he was just so beautiful. He smirked when he noticed, and you couldn't stop the blush from rising in your cheeks.
Bending down, he placed sweet kisses from the middle of your cheek down to the soft skin of your neck. You moaned softly when he kept trailing his kisses around your neck, down towards your collarbone.
"Paul," you whispered, reaching your hand up to put in his hair.
"Mm," he groaned, the vibrations travelling across your skin. He paused his movements, and looked at your eyes.
"I'm a virgin," you said. Nervousness crept into your bones under his intent stare.
Paul felt light headed at the words for a number of reasons. One, you were considering having sex with him: the thought of that alone could give him a nosebleed. Two, no one had ever been with you that way. Three, he was hovering over you right now, and you were thinking about sex.
"Me too."
"What? But you're so..."
"Aggressive? Horny? Wolfy?"
"I was actually going to say hot." You smiled at him, your hands still holding his short hair.
"You think I'm hot?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
"You already knew that," you said, laughing.
"I was like fifteen when I phased for the first time," Paul said. "And I didn't trust myself. I trust myself now, and you are the only one I want."
You blushed. "We don't have to talk about it right now."
"Let's go to bed," he said. "And after we deal with Victoria we can talk about your unwavering lust for me."
"I don't really think that's what I said."
"Goodnight," he whispered, tucking himself close to you.
In the morning, Paul had both of your bags packed and coffee ready to go. He didn't want to wake you up after such an eventful night. You stretched as you made your way into the kitchen.
"Thought we'd just grab cereal today, honey." He walked over to you, looping an arm around your waist and swooping down to kiss you. You held his face in your hands, softly stroking your thumbs across his cheeks. When he pulled away, he had a beautiful smile on his lips.
"Are we grabbing all the perishables?" you asked, pulling away from him and opening the fridge. "I don't want to come home to a nasty fridge."
"Sit and eat and we'll grab it after," he said, putting his hands on your shoulders to guide you to the table. It was a beautiful day outside, the sun was shining through the kitchen window. It was probably cold, but with Paul by your side it wouldn't be too bad.
"You didn't have to pack my bags," you said, pouring the cereal and milk in a bowl. Paul slid in the chair beside you after finishing, whatever it was he was doing.
"I didn't want to wake you, but I have to be at Sam's before noon and I didn't wanna leave you alone here. It's not safe," he said, taking his turn with the cereal.
"I wish we'd gotten close at an easier time," you said, reaching over and grabbing Paul's hand. He held your stare, smiling sadly.
"I don't know that there ever would've been a normal time," he said. "But I'm still happy we did."
You smiled, turning to your food and releasing Paul's hand. "I know. I am too."
"Say the word and we'll pack up and go," Paul said, looking at your face. He was searching for answers, but it didn't feel like he'd asked a question.
"You already packed," you said, mouthful of cereal.
"No, I mean like... we can go anywhere. I'll quit, you'll quit. We can leave the vampires behind."
You gave him a small smile. "As lovely as it sounds, and I'll take you up on it one day maybe... but I don't think you'd ever get a good nights sleep again."
"If you're beside me, everything will be fine."
"No," you said, "I think you mean it, but I don't think you're right. What if someone gets hurt out there? Would you be able to sleep knowing you could've been there? It's one of the things I love about you," you said, touching his arm gently.
"But anytime you want to, all you have to do is tell me." He turned away from you, trying to hide the grin. While he wanted you to be far away from the fight and the Cullens, he couldn't help but smile when you said you loved him.
You on the other hand, were sitting in guilt and agony. You still hadn't told Paul about your boss, well, ex-boss. And the longer you waited, the more hurt he would be. But, you also knew he would probably fight the guy, and you didn't want that.
"Do you work today? I'll drive you," he said. You picked up both of your empty bowls, and starting washing them in the sink.
"I took some time off," you lied. You were ridden with guilt over the way it rolled off your tongue. But it was for the greater good. "I thought it'd be better if I just stayed with Emily."
"I didn't know that," he said, coming behind you to wrap his arms around your waist. He set his chin on your head, just holding you while you washed the few dishes. "Thanks honey. That takes a load off, I'm not gunna lie."
He kissed the top of your head, and grabbed the bowls off the dish rack to dry and put away. When you were done, you grabbed an empty box from the recycling to pack up the food you didn't want to go bad.
Paul thought he noticed something off about you, but didn't say anything. It would be easy to blame it on the situation.
"I'm gunna run everything to the truck," he said, grabbing the basket from you and kissing your head again. You stopped him, standing up on your toes to give him a kiss on the lips. He made a happy noise as you moved your lips against his. "I love you," he mumbled, in between breathy kisses.
"I love you," you said.
He threw a wink at you before he walked out the door, and you walked to the bedroom to get dressed.
Emily and Sam were more than welcoming. It was nice to be around such friendly people all the time. Apparently, Sam agreed that your house was too isolated. But once Victoria was dealt with, you'd be moving back.
You spent most of your days helping Emily in the kitchen and around the house. You'd grown really close with her and Kim, and it was really nice. It was nice that Paul helped you into his social circle, since he... you know, kinda ruined your high school career. But you pushed those thoughts out of your mind.
The more the days ran into each other, the harder it was to tell Paul the truth. But he was so tired all the time, and when he was with you, he wanted to cuddle and kiss, and he was just so friggin' cute.
On a Sunday afternoon, you two were in bed together. Sam was on patrol, and Emily was at the grocery store. And you two were finally alone, and Paul was painfully aware of that. He didn't want to rush you, he'd meant it when he said he would wait as long as you needed. If you decided you never wanted to, he wouldn't be any less fulfilled in life.
But on the other hand, you are so sexy and walk around in your underwear in front of him, sometimes without the shield of his shirt.
"I don't ever want to leave this bed," he said, pulling you in close. He breathed in your scent and shut his eyes. He was trying not to think about your leg that was resting on his thighs.
"Mm," you moaned, innocently wiggling against him. Now he was sure you were trying to kill him, but when he peeked at your face, he saw the sleepy look. "Maybe only to crawl back into our bed."
"I like when you call that place ours," he said, nestling his cheek against your hair. You were listening to his heart beat.
"You should bring all your stuff," you said. "Move in officially."
"Officially," he whispered. "I'm scared things are going too fast for you. Are you sure that's what you want, honey?"
"Honestly, I never want to fall asleep without you again."
"As long as you want me, I'll be here."
"I'm sorry I used to hate you," you whispered. The tense past was something you would do anything to change.
"I'm sorry I made you," Paul said, feeling the exact same way.
"I forgive you," you said, something you'd never said to him. And he felt his heart beating out of his chest. "I forgive you for all of it. I don't care anymore. I just love you."
"Awh, honey. I love you so much. I never thought I'd feel this way about anyone. I've never been this close with anyone. Someone so kind," he said, placing a kiss on your forehead. "Honest." Another kiss. "Sweet." Another kiss.
You sat up, the weight of the guilt was killing you. "My boss cornered me in his office and asked me to do inappropriate things so I quit!"
"What?" he asked, sitting up beside you. "What do you mean? He harassed you?"
"Yeah, kinda..."
"Not kinda, either he did or he didn't." Paul had never spoken so harshly to you before.
"He did," you said, "But I quit right after."
"Why didn't you tell me this? I could've helped you, I oughta go down there right now and show that guy what's up," Paul said, his irritation boiling under his skin. He took a look at you, sad and scared, and put his arms back around you. "I'm not mad at you."
"You should be," you said, tears falling from your eyes. You couldn't hold it in anymore. You felt like a bad partner. You felt like a bad person. "I meant to tell you when it first started but you were so stressed and I didn't want to make it worse, and then he cornered me so I quit but then I still didn't want to tell you because you were so tired and then..." Paul had to put his hand over your mouth to make you end your sentence.
"You think I should be mad at you," he said, and you nodded. "No baby, I'm mad that some jerk tried to hit on you. I'm mad that you felt that you couldn't come to me. And I'm mad that I've been so busy that I didn't realize what was going on. But I am not mad at you."
He wiped the tears off of your cheeks with his thumbs, and lovingly held your face. He didn't even notice that his anger completely melted away, you were the only thing on his mind.
"Paul," you said, voice so small under his stare. You pulled away from him and pulled your shirt off.
"Honey," he grumbled. "I want you so badly, but we shouldn't. Not when we were just talking about... uh..." He lost his train of thought when you unclasped your bra behind you. The straps fell loosely over your shoulders. "Baby," he said, his hand lingering close to your ribs.
"I trust you with my heart now," you said, letting the bra slide off your torso entirely. "But we can do this later, if you're not ready..."
"Huh?" he asked, staring at your chest. His thumb grazed over you newly exposed skin. "I love you."
You giggled, "I love you."
"Paul!" Sam shouted from the bottom of the stairs. "I need you down here for a second!"
"Oh, fuck me!"

ricky bowen dating hcs
If ricky really falls for you
Which he has at this point
Oh my god
Luckiest person in the world
Once this boy realizes how happy you make him
“I love you means you’re never ever getting rid of me” - ricky bowen probably
You’re always at each other’s places or out somewhere together
If you’re still in school you’ve gotten catching up between classes you don’t have together down to a science
He’s become a fucking professional at texting without getting caught
Whenever you feel your phone buzz in your pocket in class you know there will be at least a few texts that are going to make you laugh
Or blush
Or both
Whatever you’re into
Whatever hobbies or extracurriculars or things you’re passionate about and into
He’s now vicariously into them through you
You like a particular sport?
He blocks out whatever time the team you follow plays to watch with you every week
He’ll learn everything about it that he can but still have you teach him what’s going on cause you love talking about it and he loves when you share with him
He also loves how your eyes light up when he gets something right
“And Patterson’s the… linebacker?”
“Yes!!!!”
Ricky: :) <3
If you’re into more artsy stuff
So is he now
He could watch you sketch and paint for hours
Whether you’re drawing digitally or writing or editing videos or making music he’ll never get bored of watching your cute focused face while your eyes dart across the screen
If you’re rehearsing acting or dance or singing he’ll pick up little parts to duet with you
He’ll learn your favorite iconic dance (dirty dancing end scene i’m looking at you yes he would learn to do the lift and everything), a monologue from your favorite show/musical/movie/play, and your favorite song
He loves enjoying the things you love with you
It makes him so happy and feel so close to you
Whatever fandoms you’re in
Congratulations you now have someone to infodump to and share your favorite media with
He just loves seeing you do stuff you love
He is so affectionate
So goddamn affectionate
He will literally take any and all opportunities for kisses and cuddles
Even just casual touching
Your legs propped up on his lap while you’re watching a movie
Head on your shoulder during a very boring assembly
And a lot of hand holding
Like a whole lot of hand holding
He’s a sucker for teaching you to skateboard as an excuse to hold your waist and hands to guide you
Any thinly veiled excuse for you two to be touchy is one he’ll take
He was never really into school dances before but if you wanna go
He’ll do the absolute most
Make every single one feel like something out of a teen romcom
Whenever you’re upset he’s right there for you
If you need to talk he’ll listen until you’ve gotten everything off your chest
Need some emotional validation?? Boom you got it
He agrees wholeheartedly and organically that that was a shitty thing for them to say to you! You’re definitely not in the wrong here, and you handled that really maturely
Maybe you just want some cuddles and distraction
Next thing you know you’re watching your favorite shows and movies, going on tiktok and showing each other the funniest videos on your fyps
You’re cuddled up on his lap providing very entertaining commentary and jokes as he levels up on the video game he’s playing
He’ll put his hands over yours on the controller and show you how to play
When you’re not together in person you’ll facetime a lot
Most of the time you’ll do homework together
Which turns into getting ready for bed together
Which turns into procrastinating going to sleep together
His favorite moments are when you fall asleep on facetime
He feels so close to you
Just two humans existing with each other
You’re not aware of this
(obviously, you’re asleep)
But he knows if you ever found out you’d think it’s really cute
You might make some jokes
“Oh I didn’t realize my boyfriend is edward cullen”
“Not like that”
“I like to watch you sleep bella~”
You joke around in a pseudo deep voice
You’d both be giggling disasters before you know it
That’s sort of true with everything though
You always find some way to laugh together
Everything is fun with him cause it’s the two of you doing it
Even tedious, frustrating, boring tasks are suddenly exciting cause it’s an excuse to spend time together
You’re both realizing that it’s true
Everything is just better when you’re with each other

Chapter 4
The next time she awoke she was back in sight of the blinding hospital lights. Her head was heavily pounding and the clothes on her body felt alien to her. Her eyes struggled to adjust to the white lights of the sanitized room, but they were suddenly off.
“Back again, Miss Uley?” She recognized the voice, Dr. Cullen. “I’ve already turned the lights off so don’t worry about that.”
Her eyes finally opened to reveal the smooth pale face of the doctor. A wave of calmness rushed over her as soon as her eyes connected with his golden ones.
“What can I say?” She chuckled. “I just couldn’t stay away.”
“Well, it seems you’ve been having a recurring headache, insomnia, memory lapses, and a lack of appetite. It looks like post-concussive syndrome. Your mom told us you were feeling like this for a few days, why didn’t you come back?” Carlisle questioned. He was trying his best to look like he was breathing but if he took even a single breath all his years of self-control would be over in an instant.
“I thought if I could just make it to at least seven days it could clear me from coming back to the hospital, at least as a patient.”
“What do you mean?” This comment had perked the interest of the man. Thoughts raced through his head faster than he could analyze them.
“I was thinking of applying for a medical assistant job here in the hospital. I recently got my degree in biology, and I’ve been thinking of going to medical school after.”
“That sounds like a plan, but let’s work on getting you better first.” It did sound like a good plan to Carlisle. He wanted to be as close as possible to her every single day, but it also meant he would have to work triple as hard to control his thirst. “We’d like to keep you for the next few days and make sure you’re in good health before you can go back to business as usual.”
“How long would a few days be?”
“About four to five days, just to make sure that the symptoms don’t worsen, and we can give you an all-clear.” It would also give him a few days to grow accustomed to her smell. “We can work over that application for medical assistant, make sure it’s something you want to do.”
“Yeah, that’d be great.” She smiled at the man in front of her, her heart fluttering with every breath she took. “Thank you, Dr. Cullen.”
“Please, call me Carlisle,” he smiled. “Now, why don’t you continue resting, and whatever you need just call. My office is right down the hall, I’ll be here in no time.”
The girl stared at the retreating form of his body and covered the heat that was rising to her face with her pillow. The butterflies in her stomach had made her uneasy and had her hands shaking. She didn’t understand why she was feeling this way. It had only been a week since her first encounter with the doctor, but those few seconds were enough to have her drooling over the man like a lovesick schoolgirl.
A few days had come and gone quickly. (Y/N) had grown attached to Carlisle, seeing and talking to him every day had felt like a dream. In his free time, she would go over to his office and pick a book to read, which they talked about the next day. They spent hours talking about nothing and everything.
It had been a long time since Carlisle had felt this way, centuries. Being around her had gotten easier each day that passed. Her smell becoming comforting instead of a trigger to the endless hunger for human blood – he’d never had a simple drop of it, but nothing could explain how much he wanted to have hers. Getting to know her had been a welcomed activity by the young doctor. He could spend days upon days listening to the sweet sound of her voice, admiring her curious-filled face when she started a new book – which she read swiftly, taking only a couple of hours to finish most of them.
“Can’t believe you have so many first editions, and you leave them at work.” She ran her hand across the spine of Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment. “I would keep them in a well-preserved chamber, and no one would be able to even breathe on them.”
Carlisle smiled as the girl gawked once again at his book collection. It wasn’t hard to acquire first edition novels when you were alive when they were published. “If you’re impressed by this collection, you’d be completely astonished by the one I have back home.”
“You have more?!” He nodded. The girl shined like a kid on Christmas, her eyes gleaming at the thought of a big library. “Oh, that sounds like a dream.”
“You’re more than welcome to come over any time. It’s always refreshing to meet a literature aficionado such as myself.”
“Really? That’d be amazing!” She grinned brightly. “I could spend all day reading, forget about work.”
The duo laughed. “Too late to withdraw the application but you’re always welcome to pass your downtime in my office.”
“Sounds like a plan,’’ she smiled. “Now, doctor, what will you ever do now that I’m not going to be here every day?”
“Oh, how will I ever go on?” He chuckled. “But if you ever need help during that time, just come by. My office is always open. And hopefully, you’ll visit from time to time on personal time.”
“I’m sure it’s something that can be arranged.”
If there was still blood rushing through his veins, the capillaries in his face would have widened. He felt like he now understood Edward; how being with her made him feel human again. And there was nothing more that he wanted than to take their friendship to another level, but he wasn’t sure if she would ever feel the same. Carlisle knew that she was unaware of the supernatural since (Y/N) had allowed him to be in her life. But what would happen once she knew everything? How could he ever come between her and her family?
“Miss Uley, your mother is here,” a nurse spoke up, peeking her head through the office door. “Discharge papers have already been filed.”
“Thank you, Nurse Dalen. She’ll be out in a moment.” Carlisle smiled.
“Well, the time has come.” (Y/N) took her phone out of her back pocket and handed it to the doctor. He looked at her with a question-ridden gaze. “I’m gonna need your phone number so we can arrange any future endeavors.”
“Right,” he laughed, typing his number into her directory. “I’ll be waiting for that call.”
“I’ll be making it soon enough,” she grinned. “I’m gonna go now. I’ll see you around, Cullen.”
“I’ll see you, Uley.”
She left the office with a huge smile on her face, holding her phone close to her chest. For the first time, she was experiencing something she had heard of most of her teenage years. Once she had met Carlisle all she wanted to do was get to know him better, spend her time with him, just being near him would suffice. It was the first time she was learning what falling for someone was, and even though it was scary, she was jumping in headfirst.
“Hi, honey. Ready to go home?” Allison hugged her daughter for the first time in five days. (Y/N) nodded, truly ready to finally sleep on her own bed.
“So, how are you liking Dr. Cullen?”
“MOM!” Allison laughed at her daughter’s reaction. It was easy to see that (Y/N) had taken a liking to Carlisle Cullen, and vice versa.
“What, darling? If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.”
“It’s not like that, mom.”
“But you’d like it to be like that.”
“I’m not talking about that with my mother.” (Y/N) placed her cold hands on her cheeks, trying to cool down the warm blood that had rushed onto her cheeks. The cool air of the car’s A/C was only helping her so much.
“I just want you to be careful with that, honey. He’s older than you, technically has kids, and rumor has it he is married.”
A breath hitched in her throat. Married? She knew he had adopted five kids, most of them her age, but not that he was married. Had she read the situation wrong? He didn’t wear a ring, he didn’t mention any relationship, he had no pictures of a woman in his office. Then again, they had only spent five days together at the hospital. She didn’t know what he did when he went home at night, who he went home to at night. (Y/N) shouldn’t feel betrayed—they weren’t anything, and they weren’t on track to become anything.
“Don’t worry, mom. I’ve just been picking his brain about working in the hospital, and he’s been helping me with what I’m gonna be doing this summer.”
“Oh, have you decided what you want to do?”
“I’m gonna get my medical assistant certification. It’s a three-month course then I can work at the hospital.”
“That’s great, honey.” Allison smiled at her daughter from the driver’s side. “Is that where you’d see yourself making a career?”
“Not sure. I want to take this time to see if life in a hospital is truly where I’d like to work – see if medical school would be it for me.”
(Y/N) hadn’t taken the time to focus on her future. In her high school career, she spent her time focusing on the present and piling on as much as she could, and now she had no sense of direction. She would take every day as it came, hoping one day she would find her purpose.
Finally, back home, she hopped off the truck and stretched out her limbs, stiff from the days on a hospital bed. Taking a deep breath of fresh air and basking in the afternoon sun. The cold that had seeped into her bones from the hospital melted off, and she smiled feeling the warmth surround her.
“Why don’t you go upstairs, honey?” Allison told her daughter. “There’s a surprise waiting for you in your room.”
(Y/N) smiled and quickly made her way up the stairs to see what her mom meant. Opening the door, tears forming in her eyes. Her room had done a 180-degree turn. The walls had been painted a light beige color, and plants hung from the walls bringing warmth to the room. The bed was adorned with a white cover, and a fluffy duvet to keep her warm at night. A wooden frame sat atop the bed dressed in white linen and ivy vines. A bookcase lived in the corner of her room, filled to the brim with her collection of hardbacks and peppered with potted plants. Opposite the bed was a small desk with a dark green suede chair, her laptop set up in the workspace. Her room finally felt like hers.
“Do you like it, honey?”
“Mom, did you do this?”
“I wish I could take credit, but your brother and your friend Paul came over when I was at work and redecorated. I was actually surprised that they even came over.”
“I’ll have to thank them,” (Y/N) grinned. Even though their relationship was strained at the moment, and she had yet to see Paul since coming back, she was glad that they had taken time out of their days to do this for her. “I’ll go over to Sam’s house for a bit, maybe now he’ll have time to see me.”
“Why don’t you go tomorrow, honey? You should take it easy.”
“I feel a lot better, mom. You don’t have to worry too much.”
“I’m your mother, I’ll always worry. If you’re gonna go out, go see Jacob. He was really worried about you.”
“I will.”
(Y/N) kissed her mother’s cheek and grabbed her bag to head out. Her first stop was to the Black residence. Jacob saw her coming down the street and ran out to wrap her in a hug. When she collapsed last week, he had been very concerned when she collapsed in his garage. Jacob was glad that she had made a full recovery and was now back home, with minimum side effects showing. The visit was short, only a quick hello to ensure the boy that she was okay.
After spending some time with Jacob, she walked towards Sam’s house – she hoped to catch Paul there too since she had heard he now spent his time there alongside Jared Cameron. It hadn’t clicked in her head why Paul would ever hang out with her brother and Jared. Even when they were back in middle school, he never paid them any mind, having a separate friend group. She had only become his friend by spending time with him away from school, and her brother had always disliked them together, claiming he was a bad influence.
Outside of the small house, (Y/N) could hear the low chatter of manly voices, a higher-pitched one joining after. There was no mistaking that Sam was home. She started feeling nervous as she raised her hand to knock on the door. The shaky limb was able to make contact with the blue door twice before it opened wide open, revealing a shirtless Paul Lahote.
“(Y/N)?” He questioned. Paul knew she was back, but Sam had given him clear instructions to stay away from her due to their situation.
“Hey, Paul. Long time no see, huh?” The girl smiled at her friend that now towered over her. A few years ago, they were still of the same stature, but too much time had passed since then. She went in for a hug, and Paul cut it short – worried she might note his burning temperature. “Is Sam home?”
“Uh, yeah.” He scratched the back of his neck, turning towards the kitchen. “Sam! (Y/N)’s here.”
The older male appeared in front of them, a soft smile playing on his lips. “Hey, (Y/N). Good to see you’re doing better. What brings you around?”
“I just wanted to thank you both for what you did in my room. Mom told me you worked on it while we were away. It’s a dream.” Sam smiled at his younger sister and shared a hug with the smaller girl.
“I’m glad you liked it, (Y/N). We wanted to give you a place where you could rest better after the accident. It’s the least we could do.” The alpha could hear the duo that was left in the kitchen had grown curious about who was at the door. “Do you want to come in for a bit?”
“Are you really inviting me in?” (Y/N) was taken aback – the last thing she thought was that she would get that invitation.
“Yeah, there’s someone I want you to meet,” Sam responded, keeping his doubts of the encounter to himself.
(Y/N) walked through the threshold and instantly felt the warm aura that emanated from inside of the house. It was a welcoming environment that she had grown to love from her own mother’s house. She walked behind Sam, Paul following behind them. `There was nothing that could prepare her to the sight she was met with.
In front of her stood a beautiful woman. She had tan skin, long black hair, and a beautiful smile. But there was something that stood out to her, something she was sure stood out to everyone – three long gashes ran through the front of her face. Yet, they didn’t distract from the alluring atmosphere that surrounded her. Sam moved to her side, and (Y/N) quickly connected the dots and figured that was Emily Young. The Uley girl wanted to be indifferent to her presence, knowing how one of her friends had been hurt by the union in front of her, she couldn’t help but note the love that radiated from the pair. It had been a long time since she had seen her brother as happy as he looked as he stared at his fiancé.
“(Y/N), it’s an honor to finally meet you.” Emily stretched out her hand towards the girl, which (Y/N) gladly took. “Sam has told me so much about you.”
“I wish I could say the same,” (Y/N) joked. “Hopefully, we’ll have a chance to get to know each other more. I’d love to get to know the woman my brother is set to marry.”
“I’m sure we’ll have enough time now that you’re back.” Emily smiled and grabbed a basket filled with muffins, offering them to the girl. (Y/N) gladly took the baked good in her hand, picking at it and placing the piece in her mouth – a wonderful taste that quickly melted in her mouth. “You’re welcome over any time. Any family of Sam is family to me.”
“Thank you, Emily. I’ll be sure to take you up on that.”
Not much time passed before Sam had cut the meeting short, claiming there was something important the duo had to do. “We should do this another time, (Y/N). Paul and I have to go.”
“Go where?” (Y/N) questioned. “It’s already night, not much to do.”
“I can’t really tell you, sis. But it’s important.”
“So still guarding secrets?” Sam shrugged. “It’s fine, Sam. I’m growing used to it.”
“(Y/N)…”
“I can take a hint, Sam. I know when I’m not wanted,” (Y/N) smiled. “Thank you for the muffins, Emily. They were divine. I’ll be sure to take you up on that offer and visit sometime soon.”
“Of course, (Y/N). I’m sorry we had to cut this short.”
“It’s okay. I’ll see you guys.” (Y/N) took her bag and exited the house. She was confused on why Sam had welcomed her in only to have her leave soon after – there was something big he was hiding, and she needed to find out what it was.
“(Y/N), wait up!” Paul jogged up to her, turning her around. “Look, I hope you understand that we’re not trying to push you away on purpose. There are things that Sam is protecting you from.”
“Like what, Paul? What danger could possibly be surrounding us that he would stray from his family?”
“I’m sorry, but it’s not my place to tell you, (Y/N). As much as I hate keeping this from you, Sam would not allow it to come from anyone but himself.”
“Are you serious? What kind of power does he have over you?”
“PAUL!” Sam shouted, gaining the attention of his beta. “Let’s go.”
“I’m sorry, (Y/N). I hope one day you’ll forgive us.” Paul kissed her forehead and went to meet up with his alpha.
(Y/N) stood still as she watched their bodies disappear into the woods. She debated whether to follow them for a brief second, but she was exhausted. She left back home with a million questions running through her head. The pair of Sam and Paul was a strange view, and she was determined to get to the bottom of things.
When she got home, (Y/N) noticed her mother asleep on the couch, the tv in front of her still playing. The years that passed were clear on her face, the worry that she carried for both her children plastered in the lines of her face. She could see the exhaustion that she held, years of caring for two kids by herself taking a toll on her. (Y/N) grabbed a blanket and laid it on top of her mother’s body, making sure that she was warm during the night. She left a kiss on her cheek, thankful for everything her mother had sacrificed for her.
After showering the day off, (Y/N) changed into her pajamas and laid in bed staring at her phone’s screen. She thought if she stared at it long enough a message would magically pop up. Minutes passed and her phone kept silent, not a single notification appearing on the screen. She scrolled through her directory until it landed on the newest listing. Carlisle Cullen, it read. Her finger clicked on it and selected new message.
Her fingers danced atop the keyboard of her phone, no words coming to her mind to send to the doctor. Should she even send him a message? What if he truly was married? She would never want to come between a couple. But her fingers did not follow her thought train. Unconsciously, they started typing away a message and before she could analyze her actions, she sent the message.
Hi, Carlisle. It’s (Y/N). I made it home okay and don’t have any symptoms, seems like you fixed me up! Anyways, wanted to know if you possibly had some free time this weekend to join me for some dinner at La Bella Italia. Hope you had a good rest of the day at work!
Her jaw fell when her screen read message sent. There was no way to delete it now. It was out there, and it would make its way to his phone. (Y/N)’s head fell onto her pillow and muffled a scream that escaped from her throat. This feeling was alien to her, and she was learning what steps to take to grow closer to the astonishing man. Minutes felt like an eternity to (Y/N), thinking that she had imploded the friendship she had built with the man over the past week.
Beep.
The sound from her phone caught her attention. She scrambled for her phone and quietly shrieked at the words on her screen.
Hello, (Y/N). I’m glad you’re feeling better, hopefully, no symptoms will arise once more. And I did have a good day at work, although I missed our afternoon book chats. I have a free day on Sunday. Tell me a time and I can meet you in Port Angeles. Hope that day is good for you.
“He said yes. If he were actually married, he wouldn’t have said yes,” she thought.
So, she typed back.
I’m glad you had a good day, and the book chats have an easy fix. I’m just a phone call away. As for Sunday, it’s a perfect day. I think around 5:30 would be a good time for dinner. Let me know if it works.
Sent.
Seconds later, another beep.
I’ll make sure to schedule those calls then. 5:30 sounds perfect. I’ll see you there. Have a good night, (Y/N).
See you then, Carlisle. Good night. 😊
(Y/N) smiled at her phone, joy wanting to burst from her body. She was reveling in this new feeling and the happiness it brought her. If it was Carlisle, it was worth it, she believed.
That night she went to sleep with the biggest smile she had experienced in her life. Unbeknownst to the life-changing moments that were to follow this meeting.

Part 1 here! / Part 2 Here! / Part 3 here!
A/N: I already know some of y’all are going to be mad, it’s 2020 and twilight needs some diversity, don’t @ me.
* You’re not really sure how you got here
* “This ones done”
* Edward holds out the blood bag to you, carefully pulling out the needles from you beloved Deer, Hayden.
* “Ah, thank you.” You place it carefully along with the others, before lavishing Hayden with affection
* “You were so good today! You’re going to get extra carrots, yes you are!”
* You’re aware of Edwards gaze on you as he disinfects the injection point.
* “You know it’s illegal to have Deer as pets in Alaska don’t you?” The corner of his mouth is quirked in the smallest smirk you have ever seen, and you roll your eyes
* “Tanya got a permit, the official stance is they’re her deer, I just take care of them for some extra pocket money”
* Not that anyone would venture into the “siren house” to ask questions
* You knew people were probably wary of coming up to the estate, even the mail man looked dead scared when he left Irina’s Lululemon packages in the mailbox
* But you didn’t think the locals legit called the manse “The Siren House”
* Edward told you they used to call it “The Witch House” but then, upon seeing the Denali sisters, changed it to Siren
* Edward doesn’t say anything, just moves to take the filled blood bags up to the house
* Ever the gentleman
* You really thought Edward would show up once, figure out he couldn’t read your mind, and retreat into his own moody silence.
* You figured you would mostly be dealing with Carlisle, who would teach you how to draw blood from your heard of deers, and then you would be on your own.
* But instead it was Edward who volunteered to do it for you, Carlisle was busy with his day job after all.
* He shows up once a week, usually after school, and carefully extracts the blood
* Then he puts them inside the fridge and leaves
* You really don’t get what’s going on, if he hates you so much why even bother coming over in the first place
* You’re about to fall into your usual rhythm of handing him the blood bags, which he then puts in the fridge when he breaks your routine
* “Why-“ your head pops up from the small pile of blood bags and to him. He’s looking away, but then his gaze meets yours. “Why go through all this trouble for a few deer.”
* You grin and hand him a blood bag
* “Another vampire might say the same thing to you, why go through all the trouble for a few humans?”
* He flinches, and you laugh. He’s so unaware of himself it’s actually funny
* “For the record, I do it because they remind me of my (Dog/Cat/Pet).” He quirks an eyebrow at that.
* “Your pet?”
* You nod. You’re number one concern on arrival here had been whether your dog was okay, but sifting through your memories of this life, you realized your dog had passed away in the middle of high school.
* “When I look into their face, all I can think about is my dog” you shrug, it’s the same with bears and other animals too.
* “Also, it’s kinda disgusting to drink that blood straight out of the animal.”
* Draining the blood must have deducted something from the taste, you can’t imagine what that skunky revolting flavor would have been like if you were drinking straight from the animal.
* Edward laughs. It’s the first time he’s laughed around you, pearly white canines in full view, the skin at the corner of his eyes folds
* It’s cute, very boyish. You get what Bella was talking about now
* “You get used to it after a while” he shrugs
* You shake your head, no one should ever have to drink that crap
* “Here, try some of my blood” you say it like you’re offering him some cookies you made. You pick up one of the bags, still warm, and he quirks an eyebrow
* This isn’t the first time you’ve offered, usually he declines and rushes to leave
* One time it looked like he might say yes, but then he noticed Tanya and excused himself.
* He accepts the bag, holding it up with one hand
* “Do you pour it in a mug?”
* And so you and Edward sip your blood-Capri-suns in the kitchen that’s only now started to be used
* You sit in the counter cross legged, while he leans against the adjacent counter. Both of you silently sipping your meals.
* “This is really good” he finally says, his blood bag almost empty.
* “Who’d you have? I’ve been trying to add different veggies to their meal to see if it brings out a different flavour profile.”
* He had Henrietta, who you had been giving more citrus too. Partially for flavour, and partially because she’s your favourite
* “It kind of tastes like...fruit punch” Edward recalls after a prolonged minute.
* He seems so nostalgic, you wonder how long it’s been since he’s had human food
* “I think genetics have something to do with the flavour too, the breed from this region all seem to have a fruity aftertaste”
* “I’m partial to deer since they don’t have a strong game taste aftertaste.”
* “Yes! That part is the worst, it’s like eating a skunk” You scowl and he laughs again.
* You know he doesn’t belong to you, he’s Bella’s, in a few years she’ll be all he thinks or cares about.
* But maybe the two of you can be friends until then.
* All at once the moments broken, Edward stands a bit straighter, the smile on his face gone.
* You turn to look behind you to see Carmen.
* Her head is tilted to the side, a smile tugging on her lips
* “You both look like you’re having fun.”
* After that the conversation is pleasant, but it definitely stutters until Edward eventually leaves.
* “I think he likes you” You’re reading a book by the fire, the gentle heat is nice and it sets the mood.
* “What?”
* Carmen’s grinning
* “The Cullen boy is interested in you.”
* You just shake your head. You doubt it, Edwards only got a one track mind for one person. And it’s not you
* “It would be nice if we could be friends though, I don’t really know many other people my physical age.”
* Carmen stops mid-stitch on her embroidery hoop
* “Is that something you want? Because the Cullen’s have other’s your a-“
* “I don’t need you to set up play dates for me Carmen”
* “Understood”
* Edward comes by regularly, to help you with your animals. You’re both always under the (discrete) supervision of one of your guardians (excluding Tanya of course.)
* And with each visit you learn a little more about him
* You find out that right now he’s masquerading as a senior in high school, he’s considering going to college for veterinary sciences
* “Why veterinary sciences?” You wonder if he’s about to poach your best deer and start his own blood business when he shrugs
* “It’s one of the few degrees I don’t have”
* You’re drinking blood-Capri-suns out on the porch, he’s still in his school clothes, including a very puffy jacket
* “What were you going to do?” Your raise an eyebrow and he elaborates “before you turned, what were you plans for the future.”
* “I was on my graduation trip, I was going to college in the fall”
* You got accepted into your safety school with a generous scholarship.
* Edward doesn’t press any further. But you can tell that he wants too.
* Many nights go by, you experiment with you animals diets, have supervised hang-outs with Edward, you meet Carlisle every so often who basically gives you therapy and helps you control your emotions
* Life is good
* But your growing complacency with the situation is starting to bother you
* You haven’t forgotten about Alec and Jane who are still fighting so hard to survive, or the countless others who would prefer this way of life if they only knew
* You know the minute you start being content is the minute the world wins
* So every night -or really every so often, you’ve lost all perception of time, the nights in Alaska are totally fucked and these heathens don’t even have a damn clock. Your only really sign of time is the mail man dropping off amazon packages- you sit and dream
* You think about giving back to the community, about saving your friends, and about dethroning fucking Aro
* You’re only at the beginning now, there’s still so much work to do, but it’s a start
* You hear a noise and your eyes open
* If you had a beating heart it would stutter when it saw Edward standing beside your bed, your hand moves on it’s own through reflex, clutching your heart
* Under the circumstances you would expect someone else to laugh, but Edward just looks confused
* “Are you...sleeping?”
* “I like to pretend, it’s a nice way to end the day” he raises an eyebrow at that
* “It’s 4 in the afternoon”
* “Well damn Edward, we don’t have any clocks in this house, how am I supposed to know what time it is.”
* He does laugh at that
* “Is it...nice?”
* “Yeah, it’s pretty relaxing, kills some time too.” Noticing the curious look on his face, you ask:
* “Do you want to try?” You pat the space on the bed beside you.
* You’re fully expecting for Edward with his old fashioned virtues to deny your suggestion. So you’re surprised that after several long seconds of silence, and a rather pained look, he adheres to your request and lies next to you on your bed.
* It’s a king size bed, so he’s at least three Great Danes away from you, but the closeness still surprises you.
* “What do I do now?” He says, eyes closed.
* “Daydream, or fantasise I guess, about things that happened in your day, or things you wish happened, places you want to go and memories you wish you could relive”
* “What do you usually dream about?” He asks, eyes open now
* “I think about Jane,” the answer is automatic, and you regret it as soon as the words come out. But Edward’s expression doesn’t change so you continue. “I think about my deers and my family too.” Most of the time you’re just thinking about what animal you want to excitement with next tbh
* “And sometimes I think about you.”
* And how glad you are to have a friend
* Edward doesn’t say anything for a long time, and for a second you hope he hasn’t misunderstood your words, you know he’ll never feel that way about you. All of those romantic feelings are saved for Bella
* “Would you like to come to my house sometime?” The questions throws you off, and your expression illicit’s a laugh from him. “Emmett and Esme are dying to meet the newborn from the Denali coven”
* That’s probably true for Esme, you’re pretty sure Emmett just wants to have some physical match with the “Volturi-reject”
* “That sounds fun, sure.”
* Maybe they have a clock in their house you can steal
* Edward shows up the next day in his shiny white Volvo to pick you up.
* On either side of you on the front porch are Carmen and Kate with their most fierce expressions (and behind them is Eleazer who just looks like he’s along for the ride)
* “Where are you going?” Kate asks
* “Our home on the other side of the mountain, you’ve been there before” Edwards got a small smile curling in his lips, and an eyebrow raised.
* “What will you do?” Carmen asks
* “My family’s having a board game night, I think we’re playing monopoly”
* “What time will you bring them home?” Kate intervenes, man they’re not even pretending to be polite
* “Well it’s not a school night-“ Seeing his joke isn’t going to land, he rethinks his words midway
* “Whenever they tell me to.”
* You’re half expecting to get a curfew, even though this household seems to operate without the concept of time, when Eleazer interjects
* “Well be safe, and have a good time.” He slides a backpack up your shoulders. “I packed you some blood bags in case you get hungry, Henrietta’s since I know that’s your favourite.”
* He’s the only one waving as you get into Edward’s car
* The view as you drive is breath taking, the snow covered mountains, abs crisp green trees
* Edward laughs beside you, at your awestruck expression no doubt
* “You don’t get out much do you?”
* You have your nose practically pressed to the glass
* “Not at all.”
* The Cullen’s home is reminiscent of the one from the movies. All light, with glass everywhere. It’s like a aurora, all wavy with no true shape
* “Welcome to our home (Y/N)” Carlisle greats you first, and behind him is... Esme
* She’s not at all like the books or the movie
* She’s definitely not white, you can’t tell exactly what race, but she’s definitely a POC.
* Her caramel cheekbones seem even more prominent when she offers you a smile.
* “It’s so nice to finally meet you, I’m Esme.”
* For some reason her being a POC, makes you feel more comfortable around her.
* Maybe you will ask her to draw up those plans for a proper barn.
* Edward stifles a laugh behind you, and you raise an eyebrow.
* “Emmett is dying to meet you upstairs.”
* You follow Edward up the stairs, finally meeting the family that spawned four books and a movie franchise.
* None of them look like they’re actor counterparts
* For one Emmett is black. And also really handsome, he’s got this Chadwick Boseman look alike thing going on and you’re down for it (RIP)
* Rosalie looks basically the way she was described in the books, all blonde hair and angel faced, but she’s the only one
* Alice is definitely Asian, she kinda looks like Lana Condor
* Jasper.... is ambiguously brown, but it still makes you let out a sigh of relief when you remember he was a Major in the CONFEDERATE army.
* More to the story than someone who was blatantly racist and supported slavery.
* They’re all beautiful, and they terrify you. You’re not exactly sure why, but something primal in you tells you to run away as fast as you can.
* But Edward lightly brushed the small of your back, pushing you forward. Right into the lions den.
* “Hello, I’m Rosalie”
* Looks like they picked her to be their spokesperson, all glittering smiles and flawless cheekbones. She extends her hand, and you lightly grasp it.
* “It’s nice to meet you.”
* It’s surreal to think how you know almost everything about this girl, while you two are virtually strangers
* Jasper introduces himself next, all smiles and quiet gentlemanly behavior.
* You’re not really sure what to expect with Alice, from what you know this girl has seen every future you could possibly have.
* Who knows what she saw
* But when she stands she hugs you
* “It’s good to see you!”
* “Alice, you haven’t introduced yourself”
* “Oh, right. I’m Alice”
* Emmett claps you on the back like you’re an old friend.
* “So, I heard you used to hang out with the sadist twins in the Volturi”
* You can practically feel the tension in the air, even Edward winces
* “They’re not so bad” really, what did anyone expect when they were in that environment
* Emmett grins
* “That’s bad ass”
* The rest of the night passes in a blur. The cullen’s game of monopoly includes some monstrous version where they put 8 different themed boards together and play in teams (You’re obviously on Edward and Alice’s team)
* They also have some sort of structure where they put four hotels together and called it a mega-hotel
* The whole thing blows up when Emmett accused Alice and Edward of using their powers to cheat
* “What do you want me to do, I can’t turn it off when I want Emmett, trust me I would especially when you and-“
* “Oh shut up Emmett, like we haven’t noticed Rosalie has an awful lot of $500 bills” Jasper interjects
* “It’s because you always pay me rent in small change!” She screams
* “Now-“ Carlisle tried to interject but Alice stands up
* “That’s a lie! I saw you steal from the bank several times when Esme wasn’t looking” Alice screams
* It goes on like this until Carlisle Declares the game over, and shoos everyone away.
* “Sorry, I would say it’s usually not like this, but I would be lying” Edward grins and you shrug
* “It was pretty fun and... entertaining in its own way” Edward beams at you, and once again, you definitely feel the dazzling effect Bella described in the movies
* “Should I... take you home now?” You can tell he doesn’t want to take you back yet, and if you’re being honest you don’t want to go back either
* The Cullen’s house has so much light, and you can see the stars so clearly here
* And if you’re being honest things seem to be way more entertaining here
* Edward takes you to a nook which houses a grand piano
* You’re fingers instinctively roam over the keys.
* “Do you play?”
* “Just a bit”
* You’re not the one who knew how to play, not really. But now this body is yours. You’ve thought about asking Carmen for a Piano, you’re sure they would love something that adds to the gothic feel of the mansion, but always cast it aside.
* You’re busy enough with your research.
* “Play me something” Edward grins.
* Alec had said the same thing to you when you were first taken by the Volturi, at the time your mind had raced wondering which piece would impress him the most. Which would aide in your survival.
* But looking at Edward now, you know that it’s not the same situation.
* He really does want you to play whatever your heart desires
* So you play “Love like you”, accompanied by your quiet voice reciting the lyrics
* At some point Edward sits beside you, playing in a deeper key, adding another layer of depth to your performance
* Wordlessly, afterwards he plays a piece of his own, Claire de Lune. Which you know is a remarkably hard piece.
* Still halfway you chime in, your super human fingers keeping up with him with ease
* And so it goes on like this, you play a modern song, waiting for him to catch up and he does the same with a classic
* Like a never ending game of cat and mouse
* It stops abruptly when Edward is in the middle of “moonlight sonata” when Alice clears her throat from behind you.
* “I hate to disturb,” there’s a teasing grin arched on her face. “But if you don’t drop them off, Carmen and Tanya are going to come over personally to retrieve them-“
* You see Edward wince, no doubt reviving Alice’s vision through his ability
* “And I don’t think anyone wants that.”
* You nod, moving to grab your backpack when you overhear Alice say-
* “You never let me play like that with you”
* Edward let’s out some sort of noise akin to a scoff
* “Where did you learn those songs?” He asks when you’re on the road
* Well you can’t tell him they’re from artists who aren’t known yet
* “Personal compositions” you murmur, and Edward grins his dazzling grin
* You talk about nothing but music until you pull into the familiar circle driveway of the manse
* Right when you’re about to thank him for a fun time, he gently stops you with a fleeting touch to your shoulder.
* “I’m graduating next month,” he hands you an envelope which you assume has his graduation card. “I was wondering if you would like to come to the ceremony.”
* You hold the card with both hands stunned, he’s already graduating high school?
* That means only 4 more years until he moves to Forks, and another two until he meets Bella
* And you realize that while time is frozen for both of you until the end of the universe, you’re the only one who isn’t moving forward
* “Yeah, I’d love that!”
* You try your best to smile, but your sure it comes off looking strange
* You don’t talk to anyone, heading straight for your bedroom
* What’s next for you?

If u have any more of “Forgotten”, i’d cry 🙂🥲
Of course, anon! Here's a little more - that fic is a bit of a mess, to be honest, and I need to sit down and riddle out a proper outline for it - any other scenes from it will definitely make everyone go "..okay, that's kind of weird."
It is not an easy few weeks, that is for sure. It is not an easy thing, to live off the charity of others. I have faced the fact that every single thing I have - my clothing, my bed, my health - truly belongs to the Cullens. They could cast me aside at any time, truly, and I wouldn’t be able to do a single thing about it.
I am intensely aware that Jasper is the one standing between me and another hospital, that the rest of the Cullens would have already sent me away. I don’t really know what to do to convince them otherwise, and that leaving me in the dark about so many things only makes it all so much worse.
Jasper is… rather odd, with all things considered.
He is a very handsome man, that is for certain. I might be reminded of the tragic gothic heroes from books, the way he carries himself. He’s certainly very tall, and extremely well educated - he speaks at least three languages, and I’ve heard him speaking with Edward and Emmett about scientific and financial matters that are beyond me, but he speaks with conviction.
(I cannot help but be amused by the fact that I have been taken in by such a good family - vampires, notwithstanding - complete with an unmarried son; what I remember of my family, my father would have been delighted.)
I cannot determine Jasper has any regional accent - I am nearly certain that Dr Cullen might be from England, from listening to him carefully - but something about Jasper’s manners; from the way he stands when I walk into a room, to the way he speaks to the women in the house, I suspect he might be from the South.
However, he is not… he is odd. He cloisters himself in his study, not to be disturbed, according to Mrs Cullen. He looks at me so sharply, like a starving wolf, but speaks very gently to me. I mentioned to Miss Rosalie that I was getting chilled at night, as we go from summer to fall, and when I returned to my bedroom that night, Jasper had laid out several sweaters for me - the softest I have ever felt. But then went another three days without speaking to me or looking in my direction.
But Jasper is a man of his word, and watches over the preparation of every single one of my meals, and sits with me as I eat. He doesn’t speak, and more than once, brings a book to the table - which I find more endearing than rude.
I actually prefer to take my meals this way - not with the endless Edward chatter of Isabella (I want to recommend her a book, or teach her to embroider or something, just so that we might have something else to talk about); with Mrs Cullen fussing over me, refilling my plate before I am finished; with Dr Cullen insisting on ‘three more bites’ and talking earnestly about calories and my health as if I wasn’t locked away from the world when I was eleven years old and understand exactly none of his science talk. No, I prefer Jasper’s silent companionship.
I start to have dreadful nightmares about Eli, about how he died. About being back in the asylum but alone and unprotected this time. All the horrors that were merely floating possibilities coming true, and when I wake up tangled in the sheets and weeping, I can hardly catch my breath. It makes sleeping ugly and miserable, and perhaps I put it off as long as I can until I am drooping and miserable. Mrs Cullen and Doctor Cullen ask me about my sleep many times, but I refuse to discuss what I dream off, what horrors Eli protected me so carefully from.
Mrs Cullen tries to talk to me about Eli and the asylum, but I don’t want to speak about either of those things and spend far too much time in my room.
//
“You were married?” I asked, spying a fancy-looking ring set sitting in a dish on the bookcase. Two small rings - one with a gorgeous blue gemstone - that had to belong to a woman.
Jasper froze and looked over at me with the saddest expression I have ever seen.
“Yes, for decades.” He looks away from me. “I miss her very much.” He turned back to his desk - the computer station still unnerved me, and I had managed to avoid dealing with any of the fancy modern screens the family had.
“What was she like?” There are no photographs in the house of anyone but the family I had met, only a few scattered items around the house that seemed to vanish as soon as I noticed them. It was terribly sad to think that the Cullens had erased Jasper’s wife so thoroughly. It seemed cruel to ask him how, to make him relive the worst moment of his life - to erase her memory down to nothing more than her death.
“She was perfect.” His words are so quiet I nearly miss them. “She was beautiful and funny and smart and she was my other half. She saved my life in so many ways. And then she was just gone.”
Silence.
“Tell me about her,” I said gently, sitting on the couch. “Anything at all. I’m sorry not to have met her.”

one of those days (s.r.)
Summary: You’ve had a really awful day. Luckily, your boyfriend always seems to make life better.
Pairing: Steve Rogers x female!reader
word count: 5k
we’re going to ignore civil war and just pretend everyone is a big, happy family in this one
request from @maximeevansblog
-------------------------------------------
You know those days where everything is going so wrong that you can’t even bother being upset about it anymore? As you stood on the sidewalk, staring at the coffee you had just paid too much money for and then dropped after taking three steps out of the coffee shop, you realized that your day had officially reached that point. It shouldn’t have been surprising that your day would turn out like this. You had started off the morning with a new case. One that was actually going to earn you money this time, which should have made you excited. Except your client was suing the Department of Damage Control, which meant going another round against Tony Stark and his legal team. Somehow, you had become the go-to lawyer for New Yorkers suing the DODC. While you and Tony got along on a personal level, you most certainly did not on a professional level.
You had barely had time to read over the new case before going to a meeting about another case you were working on. It was very obvious to everyone involved that your client didn’t have a very strong case, but having to deal with smarmy corporate lawyers rubbing it in was almost unbearable. Still, you managed to cut a deal that was better than anything your client would get in court, though you thought that they weren’t likely to see it that way. You were right. So that probably should have been the low point of the day.
It wasn’t.
A large bouquet of your least favorite type of flower was sitting at your desk when you got back to your office. Unsurprisingly, a note from Tony was attached, which meant that he had heard about your newest case. Underneath the ugly bouquet were two letters from potential clients asking for your help pro bono. You would take the cases. You always took the pro bono cases, even though you didn’t have the time and could really use the money.
The text was what you thought was going to make you lose it. You had stared at the screen for a minute, wavering between wanting to throw it at the wall and wanting to lay your head down and start crying. Steve was stuck at the compound upstate and wouldn’t be able to make it into the city for date night. He didn’t offer a reason, but he rarely ever did when Avengers things were concerned. There were some things that he didn’t think you needed to know, and you were perfectly fine not knowing them. Still, you had been looking forward to seeing Steve. He had been stuck at the compound for most of the week, and you really missed him. At least he had promised a weekend at the compound, which was the closest thing to a vacation you ever had, to make it up to you.
You and Steve had been dating for a few years now. Though he technically lived at the compound, the two of you basically lived together. Whenever he wasn’t upstate, he was staying in your little Brooklyn apartment. Your friends often teased you that it wasn’t fair that you were the one to snag Captain America when he wasn’t even your favorite Howling Commando. It had been Dum Dum Dugan, but only because eight year old you thought his name was the funniest.
According to Steve, he had known the minute that he saw you, or actually heard you, that he was going to fall in love with you. He hadn’t even opened the door to Tony’s office before he was able to hear you ripping Tony a new one. Perhaps storming into Stark Towers to yell at Tony Stark wasn’t the smartest move, but you were young, it was your first big case, and you were fired up. Plus, the DODC needed to get it together because whatever system they had at that time wasn’t working. You ended up winning the case. Steve had known then and there that he had to know you. And Tony had decided that he needed you on his legal team. Only one of them got their way, and it wasn’t Tony. Not that he wasn’t still trying, you thought, glancing at the ugly flowers again.
It was impossible to be mad at Steve for missing date night because he had superhero responsibilities, but it still bummed you out. You managed to plough through the rest of the afternoon before heading home. As you passed your favorite coffee shop, you thought that you would treat yourself to some caffeine, since you would probably be up late working on the new pro bono cases. Of course, you had dropped the coffee almost immediately, which you took as a sign to just chalk up the day as a loss and head home as quickly as possible before lightning struck you or a tornado swept you up or aliens abducted you.
Morning came too quickly. Though you had gone to sleep earlier than you had anticipated, it was still hard to peel your eyes open. You glared blearily at the clock. It told you that it was still early in the morning, so why were you awake?
The answer came in the form of the creak of your bedroom door. You barely had time to panic about the possibility of an intruder before Steve poked his head in, a smile breaking out on his face at the sight of your sleepy confusion.
“Surprise, honey,” he said quietly.
“What are you doing here?” Despite your confusion, you reached out to him, pulling him onto the bed and snuggling into his chest.
Steve wrapped you up in his arms and settled deeper into the bed. “I felt bad that I had to cancel on date night after you had such a bad day, so I thought I’d surprise you. I’m taking you out and spoiling you today before we head upstate for the weekend.”
“I have work today, Steve,” you protested, though you were too happy to see Steve to really worry about work.
“I’ve already talked to your boss, and he told me that you were taking a half day today. I managed to talk him into giving you the whole day off. One of the perks of being Captain America.”
You hit Steve’s arm lightly. “I don’t know why everyone thinks you're such a golden boy. You’re a bad influence, Rogers.” Steve’s loud laugh caused your heart to soar. You’d stay in bed with Steve all day if you could.
As if he was reading your mind, Steve said, “Why don’t you go back to sleep for a bit? We have a reservation at your favorite brunch place in a few hours. You could get at least another hour of sleep.”
“I won’t argue with you, but you have to stay in bed with me.”
“I like that deal.” Steve kissed the top of your head gently as you snuggled into his side, already drifting back off to sleep.
An hour later, you woke up feeling much more rested. Opening your eyes slowly, you immediately found Steve gazing at you.
“Were you watching me sleep?”
“No.”
“You’re a bad liar, babe.”
“And you’re adorable when you’re sleeping, honey.”
“Ok, Edward Cullen, calm down.” You didn’t really want to get out of bed, but you forced yourself to stand and stretch, leaning down quickly to give Steve a peck on the lips.
“I don’t understand that reference.” It was hard not to laugh at the small pout on Steve’s face as he watched you walk into the bathroom.
“That’s because you refuse to watch Twilight with me. Now, I need to get ready for our day out. You can stay there and pour, or you can take a shower with me.” You didn’t bother waiting to see if Steve would follow you, confident that he was already scrambling out of bed.
After your shower, Steve insisted on picking out an outfit for you while you did your hair and makeup. Once the two of you were ready, you left the apartment and walked down to the restaurant, holding hands the entire time.
It was sometimes a bit strange when you and Steve went out in public. Steve managed to blend in pretty well when he was dressed in casual clothes, but he was occasionally recognized. Many New Yorkers had grown fairly used to seeing Avengers out and about and were content to leave them alone, but tourists were prone to getting over excited and star struck. Luckily, Steve flew under the radar during brunch. You thought that the waiter probably recognized him, but the only sign he gave was charging you for only half of your meal.
As you ate, you caught Steve up on your work, and he told you about some of the stuff the other Avengers had been up to. Bucky was settling into the team well, which you knew was a big relief for Steve. You had only met Bucky a couple times. He wanted to make sure that all of the Hydra brainwashing was gone before you spent much time together, despite both you and Steve trying to tell him that you trusted him.
After brunch, Steve let you drag him into some of your favorite stores. He played the doting boyfriend as you tried on clothes, showering you with compliments and even picking out a few pieces that he thought would look good on you. Despite your protests, he bought you way more than you were planning on getting, and silenced you with kisses when you tried to tell him you didn’t need it all.
You had assumed that you would head back to your apartment to drop it all off and then head up to the compound, but Steve led you into a nail salon on your way home and insisted on paying for you to get your nails done.
“You’re doing way too much, Steve. Honestly, we could have just gone to read in the park and it would have been a perfect day,” you told him. He looked a bit funny sitting on a small chair surrounded by shopping bags.
“I told you that I wanted to spoil you, honey. You work too hard. You deserve a day all about you.” You were about to protest more when your stomach let out a loud growl, causing your face to heat up in embarrassment. Apparently all of that shopping made you work up an appetite. “Wait right there,” Steve laughed as he stood up and made his way out of the nail salon. As if you had much of a choice, considering a woman had just started painting your nails.
The lady had just finished your first hand when the door opened and Steve walked back in, a fast food bag in his hand.
“I got the feeling you were hungry,” he teased as he sat back down next to you. He opened the bag and dug out a couple of fries.
“I’m kind of in the middle of something, babe,” you laughed, nodding your head at your hands that were splayed out on the table.
“That’s why I’m going to feed you,” Steve said as if it was obvious. He held the fries up to your mouth. You shook your head in amusement, but you ate the fries anyway. You knew that you were incredibly lucky to have a boyfriend like Steve, who was willing to sit and feed you fries and chicken nuggets as you got your nails done.
“You’re the best. You know that right?”
“Are you just saying that because I got you food?”
“No. I’m saying it because I love you.”
Steve’s smile spread shyly across his face. “I love you too.”
The two of you had finished the food by the time your nails were done. Steve once again took up all of your shopping bags, and the two of you walked back to your apartment. You packed quickly, eager to leave. To your delight, Steve had ridden his motorcycle into the city rather than taking a car, so you got to press yourself into his back as the two of you rode up to the compound. You loved riding the motorcycle with Steve. It was often too windy and loud to really talk, so you got to enjoy each other’s presence in silence.
“Where is everyone?” you asked when you got to the compound. Normally, you ran into at least one other person on your way to Steve’s room, but it was like a ghost town.
Steve shrugged. “Maybe they’re out. Or training. I think most people should be here this weekend though. They’re all looking forward to seeing you.”
At the beginning of your relationship, you had been nervous about meeting all of the Avengers. Your worth had been needless, though, as all of the Avengers had been happy to meet the mystery girl who was helping Captain America settle into the 21st century. Now, you could comfortably say that many of the superheroes were some of your best friends.
“Weird,” you muttered, but you weren’t really too concerned. They all had their own lives, so you couldn’t really expect them to be sitting around waiting for you all the time.
You didn’t have much time to dwell on it. Steve had decided that the two of you were making your favorite dinner, though you didn’t really do much. You sat on the counter and watched as Steve cooked. Music from the 40s floated gently through the room. You knew from Steve’s slightly wistful smile that he was remembering his old life. It broke your heart a little bit whenever he got quiet like that. You could never understand what he went through, but you hoped that you helped make it more bearable for him.
“What are you thinking about?” Steve’s voice broke through your thoughts and made you realize that you had been staring at him.
“You,” you answered simply.
“Me? I’m flattered.”
“Do you miss it? How your life used to be?” It was a subject you tended to skirt around because you were afraid of the answer.
Steve was silent for a minute, his face introspective. “I used to wonder what my life would have been like if I hadn’t been frozen. Or if I hadn’t been picked for the serum at all, I guess. Now, I don’t think there’s any point in that. I can’t change what happened. I don’t think I would even if I could. I have everything I could ever need here.” Steve took your hands, rubbing his thumbs over your knuckles gently.
“There’s nothing you miss? The food? The clothes? The dancing?”
“Food is much better in this century. We used to boil everything. And we can still dance now just fine, honey.” To prove his point, he stepped back and dragged you off the counter. He pulled you against him, and the two of you swayed gently. You weren’t sure how many songs you danced to before the oven timer went off. Steve wrapped up in a hug and kissed you deeply before pulling away to get the food.
Dinner was delicious. Steve’s cooking had made great strides the last few years. You insisted on clearing the table while he got dessert ready. The two of you sat and chatted as you ate your dessert. At one point, Steve laughed so hard at something you said that he knocked his fork off the table. Shaking your head fondly, you bent down to pick it up.
When you sat back up, you were confused to find that Steve wasn’t in his chair across from you. Instead, he was kneeling on the ground next to you. You gasped, your hands flying up to cover your mouth, when you saw the small box in his hands.
“Y/N, you are the most amazing person I have ever met. I was a man lost in time before I met you. You’re my home. You’re the love of my life, and I hope that you’ll let me spend the rest of my life with you. Y/N, will you marry me?”
“Yes,” you laughed, tears falling down your face. “Yes! Yes, of course, Steve.” He took your hand and gently slid the ring onto your finger. He had barely finished before you were throwing yourself into his arms.
“I was so nervous,” Steve admitted. His voice was muffled slightly because his face was buried in your neck. “I’ve been trying to decide how to do this for so long. Tony offered to book a private island, but I thought that might be a bit much.”
“Just a bit,” you agreed. You pulled back slightly to kiss him. Your hand shook slightly as you held it out to look at the ring. “It’s gorgeous, Steve.”
“It was my mom’s.” Your head snapped up quickly, your eyes once again filling with tears. You hadn’t known that Steve had anything from his family. “Howard and Peggy managed to keep some of my stuff. I guess they never stopped hoping I’d come back.”
“I’m glad they did.” You leaned in again, letting yourself get lost in the kiss. “I love you, Steve.”
“I love you too. Now you have to win your next case so you can pay for the wedding. Unless you want Tony to pay.”
“I can’t even imagine what that wedding would be like,” you groaned. “You might need to get a real job.”
Lucky for Steve, it didn’t come to that. You won your next case. And the one after that. And the one after that. In fact, your career was on a high leading up to your wedding. Not that you needed much money for the wedding. It was a small affair, only close friends invited since neither of you had any family. On Steve’s side were all of the Avengers and their friends. On your side were your friends from school and some of your coworkers, all of whom looked a bit overwhelmed to be in the presence of so many superheroes. You and Steve decided to have the wedding at the compound so that you wouldn’t have to worry about security or paparazzi or anything like that.
“I’m nervous,” you groaned for the hundredth time that morning. “Why am I so nervous? I feel like I’m going to be sick.”
“You better not be sick. You just got your makeup done,” Nat pointed out dryly.
“And you need to get in your dress soon so you’re not late to your own wedding,” Wanda added.
You and Steve had agreed on having small wedding parties, so Nat and Wanda were your only two bridesmaids, while Bucky and Sam were Steve’s groomsmen. You opened your mouth to respond, but quickly clamped your lips together and rushed over to the toilet, making it just in time to avoid making a mess on the floor. Fortunately, Wanda was able to use her powers to hold your hair back.
“Are you sure nerves aren’t the only reason you’re feeling sick?” Nat asked as you sat back. “I noticed that you didn’t have anything to drink at your bachelorette party.”
Wanda’s eyes grew almost comically wide. “Oh my gosh, Y/N! Are you pregnant?”
Your mind whirled as you tried to come up with a way to spin this, but you realized it was pointless. “You can’t tell Steve.”
“He doesn’t know?” Nat asked. You felt it was a bit hypocritical of her to be judging you for keeping a secret when she was an actual spy, but you decided to let that slide.
“I didn’t want to tell him until I was sure and then he was so stressed about making sure the wedding was perfect. I didn’t want to make him more stressed.”
“This is amazing, Y/N,” Wanda squealed, wrapping you in a hug. After a second, you felt Nat’s arms circle around you too. “Now let’s go get you married.”
Any nerves that you had melted away when you saw Steve standing at the end of the aisle. His eyes filled with tears immediately when he saw you, causing you to become misty eyed too. You tried to hold the tears back, knowing Nat and Wanda would kill you if you ruined your makeup so quickly. However, you lost that battle once Steve started to say his vows, his voice breaking with emotion.
Most of the non-Avengers guests left after staying at the reception for a couple of hours because they didn’t want to be driving back into the city late. Once they were all gone, Sam started urging you and Steve to start opening up your presents. Eventually, you had to give in.
“Let’s see whose gifts are lame,” Sam cheered as everyone took a seat. The first gift that Sam declared lame was from Scott, who claimed that he had shrunk your gift to make transporting it from San Francisco easier and then lost it somewhere in his room.
“Cmon, small fry! Just admit that you didn’t buy anything,” Sam teased. Scott tried to defend himself, but soon everyone was piling on. You had to move on to the next present to put him out of his misery. Most of the others had given you things you mentioned needing for the bigger apartment you hoped to get soon. Even before you knew you were pregnant, you and Steve had decided that it might be time to upgrade from your small, one bedroom apartment.
Peter was a bit embarrassed by his gift. He couldn’t exactly afford to buy anything fancy. He was a high school student after all. Instead, he had made some sort of toaster, microwave, air fryer hybrid that he assured you didn’t explode...anymore. You weren’t sure how confident you were in that, but you acted thrilled anyways.
Vision bought you what he assured you was the safest baby essentials. You almost choked on your water when Steve opened the box for the crib, which Vision told you he would put together. Everyone else was too busy laughing to notice the panicked looks you, Nat, and Wanda shared. There were a lot of jokes about how Vision must be eager for some kids running around the compound, but he didn’t seem to understand why everyone was laughing. You were sure that he had somehow used his super robot brain to figure out that you were pregnant, but apparently he hadn’t mentioned it to anyone else.
Tony insisted on going last, of course. His gift was a world class realtor showing you some of the best apartments in New York, which Tony insisted he would pay for. Steve tried to refuse, but you stopped him.
“We’ll think about it,” you said. Steve looked at you in surprise. Since the Avengers didn’t get paid, Steve usually had to rely on Tony’s money, but you were the one who was always insisting on paying for things yourself.
“We will?”
You shrugged. “There’s no way we’ll get a fancy penthouse or anything, but we could use a good realtor. And let’s face it, Tony will find a way to end up paying for most of it anyways.” You knew that your family would no doubt spend a lot of time at the compound, but you wanted a nice place in the city where your kids could go and be normal kids. If accepting Tony’s help was what it took to ensure that your family would have a nice place to live, you were willing to live with that. Plus, not having to worry about rent would allow you to take more pro bono work.
Everyone sat around chatting for a while after the presents were done. Steve had you tucked into his side as the two of you lounged on a couch and watched your friends.
“You wanna get out of here?” Steve whispered in your ear.
“I’ll have to ask my husband if that’s okay,” you teased, enjoying the chuckle you got out of Steve.
“I think he’ll be fine with it. Not that you ever listen to anything he says.” Steve stood, pulling you up with him. Your face burned when everyone started cheering the two of you on, but Steve just laughed and waved goodnight to them. The two of you walked through the compound to Steve’s room in comfortable silence. Tomorrow, you would head out for your honeymoon, so you were enjoying your last peaceful moments at home.
“Do you actually think we need Tony’s realtor?” Steve asked suddenly. “I thought you liked that place we saw the other week.”
“Are you trying to start our first marital fight?” you joked, trying to get Steve to drop it. There was no way to explain why you were second guessing the place you and Steve had both liked without explaining that it wasn’t as child-friendly as you would like.
“I’m serious, honey. What made you change your mind?”
“I don’t know. I guess I was just thinking about how a third floor walkup could make some things difficult. And that place isn’t that much bigger than where I live now. There are also much better neighborhoods. Maybe we could look for somewhere closer to a park with a few bedrooms in a building with an elevator.”
“A few bedrooms? Sounds like you're describing a mansion. This is the city we’re talking about.”
“I’m not asking for a penthouse or a townhouse or anything. Just something that isn’t very cramped.” You tried to pull away from Steve, but he wrapped you up in a big hug.
“Ok, ok, I’m sorry. I just want to know what made you change your mind so much. I thought you said the third floor walkup would ensure we both stay in shape.”
You chewed on your lip thoughtfully, which made Steve know immediately that you were considering something important. Instead of answering, you grabbed Steve’s hand and pulled him down the hallway and into his room. Once you shut the door, you turned to face him. He was alarmed slightly by the nervousness in your eyes. You and Steve hadn’t talked seriously about kids. You both wanted some, but it seemed like both of you thought about them in terms of the future, not right after getting married.
“I’m pregnant,” you said finally.
“What?” Steve had heard you perfectly, even though you had barely whispered it. Perks of being a super soldier. It looked like his brain was short circuiting, though.
“I’m pregnant,” you said again, louder this time. Slowly, you put your hands around Steve’s waist. “Steve? Babe, talk to me. Where’s your head at? I know we weren’t expecting to have kids so soon but-”
“This is amazing,” Steve breathed. He picked you up and spun you around. “Oh my gosh! This is amazing.” He gently set you back on your feet, then kneeled to kiss your stomach. “How long have you known? Does anyone else know?”
“I’ve only known for sure for about a week, but I was suspicious. Nat and Wanda know. And Vision, apparently.”
“That explains the crib,” Steve laughed breathlessly. He hugged you again.
“That explains the crib,” you agreed.
“And the apartment. Honey, I don’t care how much money Tony has to spend. Your kid is going to have the best place in all of New York City.”
“It doesn’t have to be the best. It just has to be home. And just so you know, you’re not allowed to miss the birth because you’re on a mission. You’re taking paternity leave as soon as I’m close to popping.” Steve laughed and agreed before picking you up and carrying you towards the bed.
Steve shouldn’t have been surprised by the text. Of course you would go into labor while he was across the country. You weren’t due for another three weeks, so you and Steve had both thought it would be safe for him to go on one last mission. It had been a quick one, luckily, so he had a chance to get there before you actually gave birth.
A few people gave him strange looks as he ran through the halls of the hospital, almost sliding past your room because he was going so fast. Though the looks might have been because he was still wearing his Captain America uniform.
You couldn’t help but laugh when you saw him stumble into the room. He seemed uninjured, which meant the mission was a success in your books. He was breathing heavily, not you knew it wasn’t from the running. Another perk of being a super soldier. Steve Rogers, who had fought actual aliens, was nervous.
“Thank god I made it,” he gasped, rushing over to grab your hand. “We broke about every speed limit on the way over. Sam thought I should just jump out of the plane and into the roof of the hospital, but I thought that might be a bit much.”
“Just a bit,” you agreed before being overtaken by another contraction. You squeezed Steve’s hand as your eyes screwed shut. “You made it just in time. I’m about to start pushing. I was going to ask them to go find a hot doctor to hold my hand.”
“You wouldn’t dare,” Steve laughed, but he did grip your hand tighter. You smiled brightly at him. Despite what you said, it was such a relief to you that he had made it. Your smile faded when the doctor told you to push. This was the part you hadn’t been looking forward to.
Steve was on the edge of his seat next to you. He hated that there was nothing he could do to really make it easier, but he held your hand and reminded you to breathe.
Finally, you were able to collapse back into the pillows. You and Steve watched in amazement as the doctor placed the tiny, crying body in your arms.
“It’s a girl,” Steve breathed.
“It’s a girl,” you agreed. “And she’s perfect.”
“Yeah she is.” You turned to smile at Steve and realized that his eyes were already on you. He leaned in to gently press a kiss on your lips before bending down to press another on your daughter’s head.
You couldn’t help the tears of joy that ran down your face. You had the two most important people in the world with you now. You couldn’t ask for your life to be any more perfect.

One Last Surgery
Spring Break Shadowing Part 5.1
Carlisle Cullen x Reader
Word Count: 2,043
Summary: You finally find out the reason for going to the children’s hospital, but you’re more distracted than usual today and Dr. Cullen can tell.
A/N: Tell me why part 5 of SBS takes up over half of the whole series? I’ve had this sitting in my drafts for 5 months because I keep adding more to it smh. Now it’s too long so I’ve decided to split it up into 3 parts (in addition to parts 6 and 7). I’m making the final edits the rest of this part now - 5.2 should be posted in like two days.
Anyways, this is technically the beginning of #1 and #2 on my headcanon list.
Masterlist
XXX
Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital is only across the street from Doctor Cullen’s office, but it seems to take forever to get there. You trail the doctor like a lost puppy through a skyway and a series of corridors before eventually reaching the right building. Different is definitely an understatement.
Gone are the linoleum-tiled floors, the abstract paintings lining the hallways, and the stark white walls. Instead, there are bright colors everywhere you look. Artwork featuring various galaxies and planets scatter throughout the hospital, and giant stars are imprinted along the floors; even the whole atmosphere just feels different.
You don’t get much time to analyze the differences though. Doctor Cullen is wasting no time to reach the destination, and his long legs aren’t making it any easier to keep up.
“Not that I don’t like surprises, but any chance you can tell me what we’re doing in the children’s hospital now?”
“Impatient, are we?” Doctor Cullen chuckles. He stops at an elevator and pushes the up button, only giving into your question once he catches a glimpse of your pout. “Alright, you win. Are you familiar with a cleft palate or cleft lip?”
The elevator dings, the doors sliding open with it. You shake your head no and get on the elevator with him. He presses the button for the floor and then leans against the wall, arms outstretched on the handrail, and gives you an explanation.
“A cleft is a gap or split occurring in the roof of the mouth, upper lip, or both. It is due to improper joining of the tissue during fetal development. There are no definitive known causes as of right now, but it’s believed that the environment and genetics can play a role.
The hospital has its own craniofacial team, but I was asked to join this particular case given its more complicated nature. Hanna became one of the first patients I treated when I came to Columbia,” Doctor Cullen finishes fondly, a smile gracing his lips.
“What makes this case complicated?” you ask.
“Hanna was born with a bilateral complete cleft lip and palate, meaning her lip cleft is two-sided and continues into her nose. It took quite a few surgeries to repair the lip, but now the next step is to repair the palate.”
The elevator reaches the floor and dings. You follow Doctor Cullen out and continue prodding him with more questions, which he is more than eager to answer. It’s incredible how knowledgeable he is. Granted, it is his job to know these things, but you couldn’t begin to imagine yourself being able to even scratch the surface of these topics, not to mention give a mini lecture on it.
You’re soon standing at the door to a patient room while the doctor asks Hanna’s parents if you can observe. They readily agree, and Doctor Cullen motions for you to come in.
Inside the room, you see an infant that can’t be more than a year old – Hanna. She’s sitting upright on the bed, leaning against who you assume to be her father. You notice two fading scars going up into her nose above her lip. Her mother is waving a stuffed toy around her, but Hanna’s attention is fixated on the blonde doctor.
“Y/N, allow me to introduce you to Hanna’s parents, Anthony and Linh Pham. And this is Doctor Giselle Adamou, who will be working with me on the surgery,” Doctor Cullen gestures to the older doctor in the room.
“It’s nice to meet you all,” you say politely.
Pre-op goes differently than what you’ve gotten used to observing this week. There is no case presenting given the lack of residents on the case. If anything, this is what you would expect out of a non-teaching hospital.
Doctor Cullen re-explains the procedures to Hanna’s parents, but halfway through, Hanna crawls to the end of the bed where Doctor Cullen is and attempts to stand, arms outstretched as if to say, “Up! Up!” Bewilderment is not a word you would have associated with him, and yet you catch the brief widening of his eyes that betray his usually calm demeanor.
“I think she wants you to hold her,” Linh comments.
“I can see,” Doctor Cullen muses. “Do you mind?”
“She’s all yours.” Linh picks her daughter up from the bed and hands her to the doctor. The sound of Hanna’s elated laughter fills the room, and you can’t stop a small smile from appearing on your own face. A cute baby and a gorgeous doctor? You don’t know who to thank for the sight.
Meanwhile, Hanna starts playing with various pens in Doctor Cullen’s breast pocket while Doctor Adamou continues where her colleague left off. You try to pay attention, you really do. Like Hanna though, your attention lies on someone else, and that someone else happens to be Doctor Cullen.
The more you study him, the more the minute features you never noticed about him before seem to pop out to you. Under the bright fluorescent lighting of the hospital, the dark purple circles under his eyes are more apparent than ever. How ironic for the preacher of health to lack sleep himself. His eyes, which you normally consider to be a vivid golden, are darker than you initially thought them to be. They are liquid pools of dark amber, speckled with dustings of gold and flecks of black. There isn’t a single blemish on his face that you can see either, further confirming your belief that this man is truly the most attractive person you have ever met. Either that or he must have one hell of a skincare routine.
It’s unnerving how young his appearance is. Skincare and diet can only do so much for a person, right? Doctor Cullen has to be at least 35 at the minimum, yet he could easily pass off as someone from your own school.
“Any last minute questions?” you hear Doctor Adamou ask and snap back into reality. By missing nearly everything the older doctor talked about, you already know you’ll be so screwed if and when Doctor Cullen decides to interrogate you on this case.
Neither parent has anything left to say, so Doctor Cullen gives a reluctant Hanna back to her mother. She lets out a cry and his expression softens.
“I know, sweetheart. I’ll miss you too, but I need to get ready for your big surgery, okay? I promise you’ll see me again in a few hours.” His soothing voice does wonders for her. In an instant, Hanna quiets down and her frown is replaced with giggles and smiles again. She waves the two of you off, and you both take your leave with Doctor Adamou trailing behind you. You’re not even halfway out the door yet when Doctor Cullen starts testing your knowledge again.
“Y/N, what procedure will we be doing to repair Hanna’s cleft?”
You do not have this one in the bag whatsoever. You wrack your brain for information that could help you, but Doctor Adamou interjects before you get a chance to say anything.
“Why does it not surprise me that you’re treating students like interns already, Carlisle?”
“I am merely advancing the education of next generation’s doctors,” he responds.
“Whatever you say,” she laughs. “Don’t scare off Y/N though, or we won’t have any doctors left in the next generation.” She turns to you after picking up files from a nearby counter and says, “You come running to me if he pushes you too hard, alright?”
You grin. “For sure.”
“Good. I look forward to seeing you both in the OR,” she says before heading off.
You like Doctor Adamou. Each surgeon you’ve met here so far has had such different personalities, yet each also has the charisma and confidence to take control of a room and command respect. You, on the other hand, could barely get your own friends to listen to your own words. How are you ever going to get on the level of all the amazing doctors around you?
“She saved you there,” Doctor Cullen comments, leafing through Hanna’s charts as he walks you into an empty elevator to the operating floor. Oops, it’s just your luck that he noticed your lack of attention during the pre-op. “It’s unlike you to be distracted. Penny for your thoughts?”
The elevator doors shut, and he looks up from the chart, his eyes falling onto yours. He has that twinkle in his eyes again – the one that brings warmth to your cheeks and could make anyone weak in their knees. You know it’s silly, but a single look from him could make you spill any of your deepest and darkest secrets, yet a part of you also knows that he would keep it. You’re not naïve – you know it’s dangerous to put so much faith into a man you only met this week – but there’s something about him that told your instincts to trust him from the very beginning.
Call it intuition, or maybe it’s just plain stupidity, but you sure as hell aren’t going to tell him about how you got distracted because of his pretty face.
You hesitate for a moment and let out a sigh. “How do you do it?” He quirks a brow, momentarily perplexed, and you attempt to find the right words. “How do you make all of this look so easy? How do you know what the right thing to say is? Or trust that what you’re doing is even right? How did you know if this was all meant for you? This is really dumb, but it seems like everyone here was born for this job, and then there’s... me.”
There’s a slight sense of dread starting to form in your stomach. You’re unsure if what you asked even made any sort of sense and wonder if you gave too much away. Giving any reason to second guess your abilities is like digging your own grave when it comes to this career. Expressing uncertainty is one of the biggest taboos of the cutthroat world that is pre-med because schools would not accept students that aren’t absolutely, totally, and completely sure about this path.
You’ve wanted this for so long, yet there’s still a part of you that doubts if you would be enough.
Rather than going straight to gowning and scrubbing in for the surgery, Doctor Cullen grabs your hand and leads you down to an abandoned hallway, only letting go once the two of you are hidden in an alcove away from any prying ears or eyes.
“What are you doing? Shouldn’t you be getting ready for surgery?”
“We have a few minutes to spare. Y/N, please know that I understand how you feel,” he says softly. “There was a time when I questioned my own abilities as well… whether my perseverance could overcome adversity. It took quite some time to reach where I am today. However, without enduring those trials and tribulations, I would not be here. With time comes experience, and it is that experience that allows me to perform my job the best I can.”
His voice reminds you of a gentle breeze, rustling the leaves of a tree on a cool summer night when he continues speaking in hushed tones. It brings a blanket of reassurance, a sense that things would eventually be alright.
“I have said this before, but I see enormous potential in you. You still have a great deal of time to grow and develop your skills. It’s easy to get caught up in comparing yourself with others, especially given today’s societal standards, but I believe you are much more capable than you may think you are. Everyone’s journey is different and yours may not necessarily be as linear as you would prefer. In due time though, I have faith that you will succeed.”
What he says is exactly what you needed to hear.
The swell of tears pricks at your eyes and start blurring your vision, but you blink them away quickly, fighting the urge to wrap your arms around the doctor.
“Thank you, Doctor Cullen.” Your voice is barely above a whisper.
“You’re very welcome. Now, I believe there’s a little girl waiting on us.”

Memories from the past (Part Seven)(Caius Volturi)
Masterlist
First part Previous part Next part
Word count: 1134 Trigger warning: talk about suicide and death.
A knock could be heard on the door to Caius’ quarters. “Come in.” Caius said as he looked at himself in the mirror. Athenodora impatiently waiting in the chair beside it, watching him mess around with his hair and clothes. Felix walked into the room and gave a quick bow of the head as a way of showing respect. “Master, Mistress. She is here.” Felix said simply, yet a smile spread over Athenodora’s features. “Thank you Felix, we will be down shortly.” Was all she said before she gracefully stood up, straightening her dress. Felix bowed one last time and left the room, on his way to fetch Marcus and Sulpicia. Athenodora jumped into Caius’ arms and kissed him passionately, and Caius happily returned the kiss with his own passion and happiness. He slowly pulled away and put his wife down. “Let’s meet our little mate, shall we?” he asked as he gently placed her hand in his. Athenodora’s smile only grew wider. “I can’t wait any longer. How long as it been since we have waited for her?” “Nearly 2000 years since we knew there was one more person for us to love.” Caius answered as he started to walk out of the room, guiding his wife by the hand.
Caius and Athenodora followed Marcus and Sulpicia into the feeding room. It was almost the same room as the throne room apart from one small detail, the drain in the middle of the room. The humans who served them as food would end up in that pit after they died and with the help of acid the bodies would be completely dissolved, no trace of them to ever be found again. The couple’s eyes quickly fell on the only human girl in the room and a small pull could be felt in their chests, almost as if their hearts had started to beat again after centuries of silence. To not lose appearance they quickly made their way towards Caius’ throne and set down, Athenodora snuggly on her husband’s lap. They could care less about Aro and Sulpicia’s little affectionated show, used to the couples way of sharing love by now, and only focussed on the girl. Finally she looked up at the couple, her bambi eyes innocent and confused. Both Caius and Athenodora felt their bond finally fall into place and their glares softened on their faces. Caius was about to stand up but Athenodora gently pushed him back down, breaking free of the mesmerizing spell their mate seemed to put on them. “Not yet, amore mio. Let us wait until at least those Cullens have left. We wouldn’t want to frighten our little mate just yet.” She whispered in his ear. “Fine.” Caius growled softly while leaning his back against the back of his throne again, a pained expression on his face. He wanted his little mate to be near him, away from the two Cullen vampires he now saw as a threat. “But if any of them makes a move out of line I will grab her. I don’t like her standing so close to them.” “Agreed, darling.” Was all Athenodora said before her undivided attention was back on her little mate.
I felt frozen. My heartbeat increased and seemed to pull me forward, towards the two blonde angels. I wanted-, no needed to be near them. I wanted to feel their touch, their kiss, their passion and their love. “Well, it does seem you were right after all, my dear Alice.” Aro said breaking me free from my gaze. “Pardon me.” I said, finally finding my voice again. “But I would like some answers now. What is going on? Who are you? And what happened between you and my mother?” I looked at Edward and Alice, one of my eyebrows raised. Edward sighed. “Your mother and I used to have relationship back when she was in high school. She, figured out what I was and we fell in love.” He said. “I’m sorry, what you are? What are you then? Apart from something that is going against the normal laws of nature.” “We are vampires, my dear Xandria.” Aro said as he saw the questioning look in Edwards eyes. I couldn’t help it but I laughed. “Of course. As if this week couldn’t get any stranger. Very well, please continue your story Edward. I am sure there is something more than just a simple ‘we used to date’.” “You’re right,-“ Edward continued “- there was an accident that made me decide to leave, for her own safety. I only came back once, but she was happy and in a relationship with some other man… and pregnant.” His facial expression was one of a kicked puppy. I snorted. “Happy? I have never seen my mother happy. You know, anytime your name dropped her entire face would drop. She had nightmares every night, screaming your bloody name.” I fiercely said. Edwards gaze fell to the floor, ashamed of himself. It was a silent for a moment or two before he looked up again, tears pooling in his eyes. “Where is she? Please, I have to know.” Suddenly I felt cold inside. “She killed herself. She jumped off a cliff. At first I had no idea why, the only thing we found was a small note that said ‘I cannot live without him anymore. I have tried, but after 20 years I am tired and done.’ I took a step forward, my anger blazing back inside of me. “I thought it was my father at first, but he died three years ago, not 20.” He fell down on his knees, clutching his hair. “No, you don’t get to feel self-pity. You left her! You made her depressed! You made her bloody kill herself and leave me behind!” “I am so sorry, Xandria! I thought I was protecting her!” Edward cried out in pain. “Aro, please. End my suffering.” “The hell you will. If I have to live with this pain, so do you! Why would you get the easy way out, huh?! YOU DON’T DESERVE IT!” I felt the tears streaming down my face and before I knew it a pair of strong, hard arms were wrapped around my waist and I was pulled into a chest. “Please brother, sister. Take her to your chambers.” Aro said, I looked up and saw the two blond angels, well vampires I guess, standing next to me, the man holding me tight. They both nodded their heads before he gently picked me up. I closed my eyes, not knowing what to do and feeling completely drained. Soon I was placed on a bed and I curled up in a ball, hugging myself and finally letting myself cry it all out now that I had my answers.

Veda Adaar, Life after Bull
Victory. Triumph. Glory. Pride. What we usually feel when we win a battle. The quiet grief of cutting down lives, regardless of how worthy they are of death, but the warm joy, knowing we saved someone or something or everyone or everything from a grand or small evil.
Victory. We stood on the balcony, crowded together, together again for the first time in years. Thom and Sera, Divine Victoria’s watchful eyes, Cassandra and Varric’s constant disdainful flirting, Cole and Maryden’s quiet affection, Dorian and Vivienne both wine drunk trading insults, the quiet acknowledgement of a friendship that grew against both of their wills. Josephine and Cullen arguing, treating the terrace like battlements, more performative as they both know the end is closer than the beginning. Solas, our own personal god, long-gone into the eluvian. We’re all here, we’re all together. All of us, but Bull.
Triumph. The weeks have passed, a quick and effective rebuke from the Arishok, King Alistair and Empress Celene accept it quietly, no time for war with another battle floating above us in the air. Back at Skyhold, a skeleton crew, these days just Harding and me spend our time in the battle room, staring at maps; Leliana’s other protégés are always off on missions. Sera pops by every now and then to see Dagna with bees and trinkets and little things to remind me that she’s never really gone. The best day, or the worst depending on the audience, Sera and Dagna came up to my room, giggling, presented me with a crossbow for where my arm ought to be. “Widdle’s a wizard, yeah! You’ll be on rooftops sticking it to people too big for their breeches in no time!” I thanked them, and sent them away. This is love, at least for Sera. Her love is violence and showy maneuvers, dancing with both hands and feet shaking about.
Glory. Josephine writes me letters, telling me to eat, to ask Cullen to write back. After a few months, she finally pens, “I know I am no longer your formal ambassador, but as your informal friend I find it painful to admit what has been sung in the inns and halls. Bards have taken your loss and turned it into song. Unlike what Maryden had composed, these are unfortunately mocking in nature. People have taken the final act and written it as the whole narrative, my lady. A play premiered in Val Royeux putting you at the center of the conflict, as the one who allowed it to happen. If you desire, I can put an end to this. Divine Victoria recommended assassins, but I’ve temporarily dispelled her more primal desires. Likewise, Mr. Arainai also reached out, grateful for the assistance you had given him evading the Crows. I similarly told him no. Above all, regardless of what action we take, I want you to know I am sorry. You’ve lost much, suffered more than so many of us. I’m sorry, Veda. I love you.” It wasn’t unexpected, bards sing, playwrights write. They tell the tales people want to hear. Immortalizing betrayal has always turned them into legends.
Pride. A cold morning, one with little to be done, Charter and Rector off in Nevarra, the crows neither coming or going, Lace came into my room, “Sorry to bother you, V, we’ve got a vistor.”
“Avoidable?” I ask.
“What an impossibly rude question, darling.” I looked up from my desk and saw her horns pointing from the stairway.
“Oh, Vivienne, I wasn’t expecting you,” I said. I don’t stop the smile on my face. For all our differences, we’d become like sisters. On her best days, she’d fawn over me like a mother.
“That’s Grand Enchanter now, My Lady Inquisitor.”
“I’ll leave you to it,” Lace said, excusing herself. I waited to hear the door close, then the other. Vivienne stood, graceful and stoic as ever. A few more moments of silence, then she broke into a smile. She took off her hat, placed it on the sofa, and walked towards me, arms splayed.
“Oh, my dear, how I’ve missed you!” I stood up, robes draping and hiding me.
I leaned into her hug, resting my head on hers. “Grand Enchanter, really Viv?”
“One must keep appearances, darling. Besides, imagine if Bull heard you call me…” She heard it as it left her mouth. “Oh, my sweet, I’m so sorry. While we should have anticipated his betrayal, I know the loss must weigh on you heavily.” She nestled further into my chest. I breathed out, for a moment just Veda, not the Inquisitor, not the betrayed lover, not the important person forced upon me. I was mortal, Vashoth, tall and strong and being hugged by someone who loved me enough to allow me to be small and weak. We settled onto the couch. I pulled my legs in front of me
“You know better than anyone. I remember, I was there when you lost Bastien.”
“And I was there when you lost the Iron Bull,” she sighed. “We are sisters in grief, as well as sisters in victory. We’re sisters in success, although your’s has had its struggles as of late. I assume the Divine told you of the bards?”
“Josephine.”
“The Nightingale sending a gentler songbird. Wise.”
“I assumed it would happen. Charter brought back the lyrics and playbook from what she considered the more consumable tales,” I said.
“They’re vile, darling. I offered the services of the Circle. The Divine declined. I assumed she had sent assassins.”
“No, I turned down the offers.”
“You’re losing political capital, my dear. If you want to return to the world, recruit who you need to defeat Solas, you’ll need allies. New allies, old allies. It will require quite the force and connections. You know you have the Circle, as much as we can politically sacrifice in this turbulent time,” she said.
“It isn’t the first thing on my mind, at the moment,” I said.
“And why not darling? If you choose to remain in obscurity at some point it will no longer be a choice.”
It’s spring, it is the last night at Skyhold before we leave for the Exalted Council. Cullen and Josephine have been up bickering most the evening, finally put to rest. I settle into my room, sitting at my desk, twiddling my pen. My bag is packed, the horses are ready. The door creaks open. I don’t look up, I can smell him from here. Even after a bath he smells like home, smoky and warm. “Hey, Kadan.”
“Hey,” I say, “they finished?”
“Well, Cullen is now arguing with Cabot which gave me enough time to get the serving girls to feed Josephine. She wanted to get back to bickering, but I asked her if the itinerary had been checked. So I think they’re fine for now.”
“They’re just worried about tomorrow, the coming weeks. It’s normal,” I say,
“You’re the one who grew up with humans. They worry too much, but it makes them easy to work with. Like clay.” I smile and look back down at my papers. “Enough work, Kadan. You can’t do anything more today.”
“You don’t know that.”
“Yes, I do.”
“Are you going to make me?” I smirk.
“Oh, is this what we’re doing?”
“Oh you didn’t know?” I laugh. “I thought you knew it all, everything I needed, Ben-Hassrath training, remember?” He smiles and walks towards me, I slide back in my seat and he scoops me up.
In bed, his heart pumps slow and heavy in his chest. I trace his body with my hands, his arm around me. Our horns rub against each other, small grooves from the years of lying here together. “Better?” He asks.
“What do you think?”
“I know. I just want to know if you know.” I lean up and kiss him.
“Yes, better.” He smells better when he’s sweaty. Something about those early days, seeing him tear through crowds, watching his arms lift and push those heavy swords and axes. Long before, when the Chargers still existed, when he wasn’t just my man, but their man.
“What’s wrong?” He asks.
“I’m sorry, you know,” I say. For a moment, he’s silent, sitting in the grief.
“You made the right choice. You made the only choice. You led like a Qunari.”
“It shouldn’t have been my choice. I should have let you decide,” I say.
“No,” He says, clipped. “You are the Inquisitor. It was your decision, to keep the alliance or lose it. You made history. You stopped a batshit insane darkspawn from destroying the world.”
“I could have stopped him anyway,” I say.
“We don’t know that. The Tamassrans used to say, ‘When there are no right choices, the right decision is the one you make and the one you live with.’” I nestle into his chest.
“I’m happy the Qunari have kept you here.”
“Me too, Kadan.”
“I love you, Bull.” He pulls me closer into him. For a moment, I wonder if he’s crying.
“I don’t want you to be angry, Viv,” I said.
"Oh what now darling? First you go into solitude like a hermit, what’s next?” I put my legs down and pulled my robes back. “What’s this?” She looked, at first with curiosity, then her eyes widened. “Veda, oh Veda, are you?”
My eyes well, “Yeah, Viv. I am.”
She covers her mouth, the first time I’ve seen her truly shocked. “And is it…?” With that question, the tears fall. The heavy sobs wrack my chest and Vivienne crawls towards me, arms draped around my shoulders and I cry into her chest. “Oh darling, of course you’ve been distracted.” She rubs the back of my head, stroking my neck as I calm down. “Should I ask Harding for some tea? Juice? No wine, of course.” I shake my head. “Oh dear. Who all knows?”
I swallow and trap my tears in my chest. “So far you, Leliana, Thom, and Cassandra. Lace knows, and she’s kept questions from Charter and Rector to a minimum.”
“You haven’t told Josephine?”
“How could I? What could I possibly say, ‘Oh yes, enjoy your new career in Antiva! By the way, I’m carrying the betrayer’s child! Send my love to Yves and Yvette!’”
“I don’t think keeping it secret is much wiser, my dear. People will know, especially once the child is here. Do the Qunari know?” She asked.
“As far as Leliana’s sources know, no. Bull was loyal to the end, they had no reason to think he’d do this, especially when it hadn’t happened in the years before.”
“When did this happen?”
“Right before we left for the Exalted Council,” I said.
“Oh.”
“I know,” I said. “He must have known. I can’t decide if this was kindness or cruelty.”
“What’s that line he always said, darling? ‘When it’s a hostile target, you give them what they want. When it’s someone you care about, you give them what they need.’”
The tears well again. My hands slide to swollen belly. “It isn’t what I wanted. I had never even considered it. He was Qunari enough that I knew we’d never have a family.”
She reached a hand towards my belly, “May I?” I sniffed and nodded. She placed her hands on my stomach, on top of my own hands. “If this isn’t what you wanted, then it must have been what he thought you needed.”
“He couldn’t have known we’d win. He fought like he meant it. He struck me with his blade. He wasn’t fighting to lose.” The anger and grief mixed in my throat.
“He wasn’t, he never did, darling. But he knew you. He knew us. He knew you’d bring me and Cassandra. He knew what the Qunari could and couldn’t do. He believed in you, at the end. Just as he had at the beginning, my dear.” I took a hand from my belly and moved it to the outside of my horn, the groove still there from the years spent lying together.
“I’m not planning on bringing my child into the public life. We’ll have a few years, at least, presuming we aren’t all destroyed by Solas,” I said.
“Shh, no reason to worry about that right now, darling. We have today’s troubles and tomorrow’s troubles.” She sat back and blinked away her own tears. “I’ve never been an aunt before. I’ll of course send over a suite of clothes and supplies from Val Royeux.”
I wipe my eyes and smile, “Are you going to be an aunt or a Grandma’am?”
"Oh you miserable louse, how dare you?” She said, the tears finally pouring from her eyes.

Taglist: i’m moving it to the comments (or at least I’m going to try to so i’d appreciate it if you could let me know if it works :)
A/n: this chapter’s a bit longer than usual. I’m not totally in love with it but i know i’ve kept you all waiting long enough (oops) hope you enjoy!!
Everything was still. You laid in a sterile room, your torn and bloody clothes dried to a vinyl cot in the middle of the room. Jasper wouldn’t let Alice change your clothes, he wouldn’t even let anyone near you. He sat at your side, never taking his eyes off of you once. The venom was taking longer than usual to take over, leaving Carlisle intrigued. Jasper was worried that his venom didn’t work, but was instantly reassured by Alice that you would wake up.
It was three nights after you’d been bitten that you began the early stages of transformation. You weren’t awake just yet, but every so often your heart would stutter and slow. Jasper listened closely, and tried his best to radiate calmness for you even though he was feeling everything but. He couldn’t feel anything around you, which was something he wasn’t used to. The rest of the Cullens gave him as much space as possible, almost as if he was grieving. He was grieving, though, because he knew this was the end of an era. This officially ended things between him and Alice. He felt guilty for leaving her by herself, but he knew she was a strong woman and would be better off without him.
“You don’t have to be sorry, you know.” Alice said, approaching him a few weeks ago. He didn’t understand what she was referring to.
“You’re in love with her, Jasper. And that’s okay.” She said softly, reassuring the conflicted cowboy.
“We were supposed to be together for the rest of our lives.” Jasper had responded, his heart dropping at the sight of Alice’s sad smile. She cupped his cheek in her small hand and he leaned into her touch.
“I know. But this is the start of a new life.” She said. He paused, unsure how to respond. Eventually, he knew.
“Thank you, Alice.” He said, his voice no more than a whisper. He was sure if vampires could cry that tears would be running down his scarred cheeks. She never responded, they just sat in silence while she held him, their love still as strong as the day they met, just displaced.
Five days after being bitten you started visually reacting to the venom. Sometimes your hand would flinch, or your eyelids would twitch. Mostly, whimpers escaped through your clenched jaw. Your body was changing dramatically, you got slimmer in sections but filled out in others, your lips got plumper and your hair got thicker and shinier. Your clothes barely fit you anymore, not that you’d do anything but throw away the outfit you had on. Jasper finally started to calm a little, but was still on edge because he knew the upcoming part was arguably the hardest.
Eleven days after you were bitten you had the ability to be conscious, though most of the time you weren’t from the unbearable pain. Your screams were heard throughout the house, including a small part of the surrounding forest causing the Cullens to have a new-found appreciation for the seclusiveness of their house. Bella had visited you multiple times, but Edward wouldn’t let her get too close in case you suddenly awoke and decided that she was going to be your first meal. Being right next to you while you suffered hurt Jasper too. He could feel your anguish, your confusion. When you’d cry out, he’d groan; when you’d squeeze his hand, his other one would crush the armrest of his chair.
Fourteen days after you were bitten, the pain finally died down. You were unconscious again as the final stage of transforming took place, making major changes in your body- including your heart. Jasper could hear your heart straining to keep up with the venom, but eventually it gave in and stopped altogether. Jasper sat still, waiting anxiously for the next step. A thump at the large glass window had made him jump, which was unusual for a vampire because they were rarely startled. Another thump made him stand, and after another he called for Esme. Birds ran into the windows a lot because of how clean she kept them, and if they were injured either her or Carlisle would aid it. Esme had rushed to his side immediately, most of the Cullens were sat just outside of the room incase of an update on your condition. As soon as she entered, Jasper watched as her eyebrows knitted together. She strode forward and reached to open the window, and almost immediately the room was invaded by multiple birds. Jasper jumped to hover over your body protectively while Esme yelled at the birds to get out. Hearing all of the commotion, Rosalie and Emmett entered the room. Rose helped Esme shoo the birds while Emmett walked over to the window.
“Oh hell yeah!” Emmett laughs, clapping his hands. Once the window was closed, leaving the birds to sit on the balcony, Jasper felt it was safe enough to leave you unprotected. He walks over to see what Emmett was talking about, only to see a bear standing on its hind legs, pawing in the direction of the window.
“Good God.” Jasper says, his jaw ajar. Esme walks over, her expression just as shocked as the boys’.
“It’s like a pizza delivery!” Emmett exclaimes. He places two of his huge hands on Rosalie’s shoulders. “But instead of pizza- it’s a bear!”
“Em, why is there a bear waving at you?” Rosalie asks him. Alice entered the room so quietly that no one had noticed she was there.
“It’s here for y/n.” She says. Jasper whirls around, his eyebrows pulling down to frame his scowl.
“What are you talking about?” He asks. Her eyes glaze over as she stares into the distance, and Jasper rushes to her side and holds her upright.
“I can see it.. She’s calling them..” Alice says. Jasper glances at your unmoving body. A squirrel leaps from a tree that hangs over the balcony, and scratches at the glass.
“Calling them how?” Esme asks softly. Alice snaps out of her vision, blinking a few times until she sees clearly again. Carlisle walks into the room, followed by Edward and Bella.
“They can sense her pain, she’s reaching out for help and she doesn’t even realize it.” Alice says. A creak from the bed diverts everyone’s eyes to you.
---------------------------------------------
After feeling nothing but unbearable pain for what seemed like forever, it was almost instantaneously that it went away. As if a bucket of water was poured onto your burning body, the flames were extinguished. You could hear before you could see; you could hear so many different things at once. The flutter of a bird’s wings, the rhythmic beat of a heart- who’s heart? Then you heard him. It sounded like him, but clearer. As if someone had flipped a switch to turn his voice into HD. You could hear Emmett and Esme too, along with a melodic unfamiliar voice. Then Alice’s voice. Everyone spoke in worried, hush tones. Worry ran through you, what was wrong? Did something happen? Then, your eyes flutter open.
You sit up with a gasp, your hand instinctively reaching for your throat. It felt so dry that you were sure that if you tried to speak, nothing would come out. The first thing you saw was Esme, a worried expression plastered on her face. You turn your head to find Jasper, but the speed at which you turn takes you by surprise. You lift your hand from your throat, holding it in front of your face. The paleness of your skin shocks you. Actually, everything about your hand does. The room is silent as you place your other hand next to the first one, staring at both in confusion. You don’t recognize them, the only similar factor being the red nail polish you applied the night before. You pull up your sleeve, and you flinch when a loud ripping noise bounces off of the walls. Pinched between your thumb and first finger is bloody fabric. You’re too bothered by your sudden strength to notice that your arms, like your hands, have no freckles or moles. You twist your arm to look at your elbow, surprised to see that the huge scar you got when you were eight is no longer there.
“Y/n?” You hear Jasper say. You over at him, his beauty leaving you wordless. Sunlight from the window streams through the mop of his blond hair, leaving it looking like pure gold. His pale skin glitters- wait, glitters? You stand up, looking down at your bare feet and bloody pants.
“Jasper?” You ask. Your brain swirls as you think about what happened the night before, but as soon as you smell the dried blood on your clothes you shudder. “I.. I died.”
“We’ll let you two talk alone.” Esme says softly, walking over to Jasper like she’s balancing on eggshells. She leans to say something in his ear. “We’ll be right outside if you need us.”
Jasper approaches you slowly as Esme, Emmett, and the blonde girl exit the room. He keeps his distance, but reaches out to hesitantly take your hand. You let him, and his skin no longer feels cold.
“What’s going on?” You ask, your voice not even sounding like it belongs to you. He glances over your shoulder, and you turn to see what he’s looking at. Three deer stand underneath the trees outside of the window, seemingly watching you two.
“Y/n.. I had no choice.” Jasper says, his voice sounding unusually stressed. You look down once more at your bloody clothes.
“Had no choice about what?” You ask. He opens his mouth like he’s about to say something, but then closes it again. “Jasper what’s going on? I feel like I’m going crazy. I could have sworn I.. died. I thought I died. But you saved me? And I’m okay now? Did you tell Dr Cullen to do some sort of risky procedure and bring me back to life?”
“You did.” He says. You furrow your eyebrows, unsure of which thing you said he’s responding to. “Die, I mean.”
“Very funny. Just tell me what happened, I probably won’t be mad. Charlie might be though.” You reply, wishing he’d just blurt it out.
“My family and I.. we aren’t normal.” He says. Okay..?
“Well one look at Edward and that becomes pretty obvious. Not sure what it has to do with what’s going on here though.” You say sarcastically.
“I’m serious. We aren’t like anyone you’ve ever met before.” He says. You sit and wait for him to finish monologuing- which is what he clearly wants. “I’m not as old as you think I am.. I was born as Jasper Whitlock in 1844. My family and I are immortal.”
You wait for him to say more- for him to laugh and tell you Bella put him up to a prank or something. He stays silent.
“You’re serious? Like, immortal as in you were born in 1844 and you haven’t aged a day and you can’t die and you’ve been through highschool like a million times and-” You ramble, still waiting for him to come clean about the joke. “And.. you’re a vampire?”
“Yes.” He answers shortly. You scoff.
“Bullshit.” You say, anger coursing through your veins. He looks taken aback as you gesture wildly. “I’m not as gullible as my sister thinks, okay? So you can go and run to her and tell her that her stupid prank isn’t funny.”
“Y/n, I-” He starts.
“No! I don’t like being made fun of.” You growl. You turn to walk towards the balcony. As much as you’d like to leave, he still needs to explain what happened the night before, unless that was somehow a part of the sick joke. As you go to step forward, Jasper places a hand on your upper arm. You shake off his hand and he falls forward a little, making your mind swirl. You step forward and instantly you’re zooming through the air and through the glass doors. You try to catch yourself on the metal railing of the balcony, only for it to bend, letting you fall two stories to the ground.
“What the hell?” You exclaim. You look at your body, which looks and feels unscathed. Jasper runs out of the you-sized hole in the door, jumping off of the balcony and landing on his feet next to you with a ‘thud’. Soon, undoubtedly drawn by the noise, Emmett and Dr Cullen ran- teleported (?) over to you guys. “So.. Uh.. You were saying?”
“Two weeks ago, you were attacked by another immortal. They were here for your sister and while we were fighting a flock of newborn vampires, one broke off from the rest of them and came to your house. He.. he killed you. I made the decision to bite you.” Jasper says, his voice seemingly shaking. Your mind swims as you try to piece together what he just said. Two weeks? But it was just last night. He bit me? Am I an immortal- or vampire now?
“So.. you decided my fate? Whether to let me die or make me a vampire? I am a vampire, right?” You ask slowly, still trying to figure it out. You hear a rapid heartbeat thumping behind you, and you turn to see those three deer watching you a few yards away. You want them to come closer, something about them drawing you to them. As if you had asked them, they slowly trot closer, until they are about an arm’s reach away. You can hear a whooshing sound- the blood running through their veins? Your mouth could water as you deeply inhale, a delicious scent filling your nostrils. You can sense their trance-like state almost radiating off of them as they walk closer. Jasper gets closer to you, as do Emmett and the Doctor. You almost unconsciously lunge at the unsuspecting animal, until another scent hits you. Why was I about to attack that animal? To.. drink it’s blood? The scent is much sweeter than the deers’, it smells more appetizing than anything you’ve ever smelled before. You want it more than anything you’ve ever wanted before. You rush to your feet and sprint around the corner of the house and down the driveway, only to see Bella being rushed into Edward’s car. Your hands shake and your throat burns as her scent surrounds you. Before you even know what you’re doing, you’re crouched in an offensive position. Someone wraps their arms around you before you can lunge, and the scent lets you know it’s Jasper.
“Y/n.. y/n, stop!” Jasper commands as you struggle against his grip, and soon Emmett is there to help him. Your throat feels like it’s going to catch fire and burn into a crisp. You groan as you try to claw out of their grip, but they don’t let up. You sink to your knees, Jasper and Emmett following you to the ground, and anguish rushes through you. Birds caw as they circle around in the air. A bear dazedly walks out of the forest, his eyes glazed over. The deer from earlier walk towards you, not affected by the loud noises. Squirrels run down from trees and snakes slither out from the forest floor coverings. A fat racoon waddles out from behind a pile of logs while two elk walk out of the woods. Alice, Esme, and the other girl come outside. Everyone is silent as they look around in amazement, creatures from all over surround the front of the house where you kneel.
Alice is the first to speak, a small smile on her lips as she utters the words, “She’s a Thiriokinetic.”

Chapter 22: Graduation
April
After Spring Break had ended, Grace was kicked into overdrive preparing for her finals. This was it. One final push and this would be off of her plate.
She spent most of her nights in her room studying, at the library with Bella and Edward tucked away in a corner, or staying late at Paul’s taking way too many study breaks. Sometimes she’d take the truck to Paul’s before he got off rounds to surprise him, cooking dinner and setting up at the small kitchen table with her books. He’d stumble through the door, shirtless and exhausted but immediately crack a smile and scoop her up for a kiss when he saw her there. He’d share about his rounds in between bites and when he was done, he’d tug her off to take a shower with him and try to derail her study night.
Other times she’d get to his house late, spread her books out open on the floor and fall asleep waiting up for him. At some point in the night she’d feel herself get picked up and placed in bed. A freshly showered Paul would slip in beside her and wrap his arms warmly around her, sighing softly into her neck.
But once the crush of finals was upon her and Bella, she knew she’d have to stay away to push through the end. Her last night with Paul, she was wrapped in arms as he pressed his lips to different parts of her face and neck, letting his hands absently trace the sides of her body.
“Okay, so I probably won’t see you for a full week. Communication is going to be limited. Tell me,” she said, trying to hide the creeping smile as he dipped his head to kiss below her collarbone, “How will you survive?”
Paul let out a chuckle and pulled his head up to stare sleepily into her eyes, “I won’t.”
“Hmmm, better make the best of it now then.” she teased. He groaned sleepily and buried his head into the crook of her neck. She laughed, kissing his forehead and wrapping her hands around to cradle his head.
“Rounds have been so brutal lately,” he said softly, his voice muffled against her skin.
“I know I’m sorry. Are you still tracking Victoria?” She said staring up at the ceiling. He took some quiet breaths and said,
“I mean, yeah kind of? Sometimes we catch a scent and sometimes we don’t. Leah actually picked up a new scent tonight which is why we were out so late. We traced it along the treaty line and then it kept hopping back and forth. But we typically never get a solid sighting. It’s frustrating.” He gripped her sides firmly as he said this as if the tension rising in him was causing him to physically manifest it. She wiggled underneath him to remind him she was there and he loosened his grip, kissing into the crook of her shoulder.
The new scent worried Grace. She’d have to check with Edward to see if they had picked up on anything new on their end. These days in her limited time on the rez, she was basically the go-between for the pack and the Cullens. Bella was hoping to get them to work together more and Grace was trying to push in that direction too, but that had fallen by the wayside when school work had kicked in.
“Hmmm, what does Sam think?” Grace asked after a short silence. But Paul had drifted off. Grace lay staring at the ceiling for a long time after that wondering what was coming.
She traced absent minded patterns on Paul’s back listening to his rhythmic breathing and before she knew it, Jake had crept into her mind. She had kept her promise to Paul—she hadn’t been with Jake alone or even really talked to him since that day. Not that Paul ever really gave her a chance. Any time Grace went on limited rounds on the weekend, she was paired with Paul and any outings outside of that were (like meeting up at Emily’s for lunch or hanging on the beach with the boys) strictly chaperoned by Paul.
Now, images of Jake circled in her mind. There was just the odd look every now and then during the times she did see him. He kept his distance and for that she was grateful. The tug was still there but she was able to keep at bay with her and Paul’s healthy sex life and Paul’s constant presence. But even now, Grace felt herself thinking about Jacob’s face and how she’d steal glances at him when Paul wasn’t looking and catch him looking back at her too.
Grace woke up early the next morning to get home before Charlie noticed. It was Sunday right before her finals and she was planning on spending the day finishing up some papers. Paul was going to be out all day on rounds anyway. She bent over the bed to plant a kiss on Paul’s mouth. He stirred and opened his eyes groggily reaching for her. She kneeled on the bed, backpack slung over her shoulder, hair tied up in a messy knot.
“A whole week huh?” he mumbled.
“Yeah,” she whispered leaning down to kiss him again, “I’ll see you on the other side.”
“Hmph,” he laughed sleepily. “I’ll walk you to your car.”
“No, stay in bed, you’re tired.” Grace protested but he was already pushing his way around her and pulling on some sweats. Paul rarely slept in clothes and made sure Grace did the same. He said it improved their ‘efficiency,’ to which Grace had laughed as he had peeled her out of her clothes.
He took her backpack from her shoulder and placed it on the passenger side seat before coming back to meet her at the driver side door. She wrapped her arms loosely around his neck and kissed him, opening her mouth and letting him glide his tongue just inside her lips. She sighed softly into his mouth with a gentle moan she couldn’t quite contain and his grip reflexively tightened on her hips. She already felt the kiss getting out of hand as he pushed her back against the side of the truck. She pulled back lightly and smiled saying,
“I gotta go.” He looked at her face seriously for a moment and then without missing a beat he said,
“Right. I love you.” His eyes held hers as they went wide and she opened her mouth to say something.
“I….” she stammered searching his eyes. He lifted an eyebrow leaning back away from her and she felt the cold creeping in between them. Panicked, she said, “I love you too.” A smile broke over his face and he leaned down to kiss her again. Grace was happy to have him close again but her ache returned.
“Let’s go back inside,” he said devilishly.
“Jesus, Paul,” she groaned, smacking his arm and wiggling out of his arms. “I’ll see you next weekend.” She climbed up into her truck and he shut the door behind her waving her off as she went.
May
The end of finals had passed swiftly, crashing up against graduation, and now as Bella and Grace posed in their gowns with their diplomas, smiling for the camera that Charlie held before them, Grace was relieved.
She had done well, graduating near the top of her class, just behind Jessica and Eric—no small feat for a girl who had been expelled from her previous highschool.
“We better get back and get ready for the party,” Bella said as they wrapped up hugs with their friends.
“Right. No curfew tonight, right Charlie?” Grace joked. He rolled his eye.
Back at home, Grace pulled on her jean mini skirt with her dark green fitted shirt. She took time to expertly curl her hair in gentle waves around her face and tapped on some of her orange/red lip tint.
Bella was combing her hair behind her, “Is Paul coming tonight?”
Grace scoffed, “Yeah right. Like he’d ever be caught dead in a house full of vampires. That boy’s head would explode.”
“That’s a bummer,” Bella said softly, putting on a thin coat of mascara and pulling at her plaid shirt, “Do I look okay?”
Grace turned to look at her full on, “What are we going for here?”
Bella looked down at herself, “Just… like casual party goer.”
“Hmm, do you mind?” Grace said, getting excited. Bella shook her head.
Grace smoothed Bella’s hair in soft luxurious brown sheets that waved away from her face. She tapped on some bright red gloss across her perfectly pouted lips and dug through her closet before tossing chocolate brown fitted shirt dress her way. It was made of soft, clingy, cottony fabric that clung to every curve and dip of her body. Bella blushed as she put it on and Grace put the finishing touches on her.
“So, this says: Casual party goer who’s looking to stun her boyfriend into submission,” Grace cocked her head to the side satisfied. Bella let out a laugh curling a self-conscious arm around her middle.
“Ready?” Grace said shoving her feet in some simple white keds. Bella looked at herself once more in the mirror, pleased with what she saw and nodded.
The bounded down the steps together just as Edward was making his way up the steps to them.
“Charlie, we’re going!” Grace yelled over her shoulder.
“Bye dad!”
Outside, Grace skipped ahead of Bella so that Edward could take her all in.
“Nice huh?” Grace nudged him and headed toward the car. Edward was speechless. Bella tucked her hair behind her ear and gave him a simple,
“Hey.”
Grace enthusiastically gave the thumbs up from behind his back before climbing into the back seat of his car. From the back seat, she watched as Edward gently took Bella into his arms and placed a careful kiss over her mouth, holding her face with one hand and saying something to her without letting his eyes leave hers. Bella stared back up adoringly and Grace felt her heart skip a beat for a minute. She never saw two people more in love. Like really in love.
The party was extravagant to say the very least. Grace and Bella were immediately swept into the crush of people. Edward held fast to Bella as they moved around the party, greeting friends, grabbing snacks, and hugging Carlisle and Esme each and thanking them so much for the party. They clearly had not thrown it for just their Alice and Edward. Cakes with Bella and Grace’s names were prominently displayed along with their senior pictures (that Alice had insisted on earlier that month right after finals) throughout the house.
Grace had whisked Bella out onto the dance floor with Jessica and Angela for a few songs before she retreated in a quiet corner with Edward who fawned over her lovingly and encouraged her temporary outgoingness.
When Grace found herself trapped in the middle of the dance floor as a slow song came on, she looked around her quickly for a way out. And then from behind her she heard a familiar voice ask confidently,
“Can I have this dance?”
Grace whipped around coming face to face with none other than Jacob.
“Jake?! What are you doing here?” Grace said, taking an automatic step back. The couples were crowding in around them though so it was hard to keep distance.
“Bella invited me.” Jake said nonchalantly. Grace shot a look over at Bella who was being glided across the floor by Edward. No one was paying her any attention.
“Okay…” Grace said warily.
“So?” Jake held his hands out to her, “Will you dance with me?” Grace hesitated, looking for an escape. She had promised Paul the very exact opposite of this, but now she was trapped. And she didn’t really want to say no.
“Sure,” she said. Grace took the two steps forward to close the small gap between them and Jake let his hands slide across her waist to rest on her lower back. She snaked her hands up around his neck as he swayed them back and forth with more rhythm than she thought he was capable of.
“I know you’re not supposed to be alone with me,” Jake said, staring down at her, casting his gaze away every now and then to lower the intensity that was already pulsing between them. This was the closest they had been in months and the ache that was always there had subsided for once. She let her body move closer into Jake to monopolize on the feeling of overwhelming relief she felt at being held. It was like having a rock stuck in a shoe for months with no end in sight and then suddenly you’re able to take your shoes off and dip your feet in cool, clean water.
Grace wasn’t going to deny it. “Paul doesn’t trust you.”
“Paul is a control freak.” Jacob shot back.
“For good reason, apparently. Look where we are,” she looked down at the nonexistent space between them and he sighed, readjusting his grip on her so that she was pressed up against him just right. She clicked into place with him like a puzzle piece and it made her dizzy. They were gathering stares from those around them.
“So you’re totally comfortable coming to a vampire graduation party then?” Grace said in a low tone. Jake laughed.
“I guess. When the payoffs are nice at least,” he said.
“What do you mean?” Grace said, confused.
“You, Grace. Obviously,” Jake replied somewhat annoyed.
“Me? You’re here for me?” Grace sighed and tried to pull away at this, but he held her fast and she didn’t protest too much. His grip was comforting where Paul’s could sometimes feel too tight. She relaxed into that feeling.
“Don’t get too excited. I came for that, too,” he nodded over her head and Grace looked over her shoulder to see Alice volleying between here and not here. A vision. Grace let go of Jacob but felt his hand easily grab hers as she made her way across the dance floor. She held onto it, just to drag out that feeling of relief. She’d take whatever fight this would cause between her and Paul, just to have this feeling for a little longer.
“Alice.” Grace said. Bella was right next to her.
“What did you see?” Bella echoed.
“A problem,” Edward replied as he read Alice’s mind.
The Cullens, Bella, Jacob, Embry and Quil who had accompanied Jacob to the party, reconvened in the study.
Jake had finally let Grace go and she had stood next to Bella with her arms crossed in front of her.
“We’ve been tracking the situation in Seattle for awhile,” Carlisle said looking to each new face around him. “It seems like Victoria has been playing possum with us and has instead been making an army to come and confront us.”
“An army? What, you mean like an army of vampires?” Jake said incredulously.
“Newborns, our kind. Their human blood lingers in their tissue so they are at their strongest when they’re first turned. And when a vampire creates a lot of us at once, it’s usually for less than savory reasons.” Jasper contributed.
“So what do we do?” Bella said.
“Well, they were passing around Bella’s scent, so their motive is pretty clear. It seems like they’ve changed course, according to Alice’s vision and they’ll be coming here.” Rosalie stated dryly. Edward tightened his grip on Bella who had a look of pain on her face at the news.
“It might be to our advantage to have them come here right?” Emmett said, arms crossed.
“More vampires mean more problems for us,” Jacob said. His eyes locked with Grace’s.
“We know,” Carlisle said, a genuine sound of regret in his voice. “I’m sorry.” He said quietly. Jacob nodded at him, thankful and Grace’s heart swelled.
“So we draw them out,” Grace said suddenly. All eyes snapped to her at once. “Woah.” she said.
“What do you mean?” Esme asked.
“Emmett said we have the advantage, which we do. And we can draw them out and attack them from both sides, right?” Grace looked to Jacob who uncrossed his arms.
“Right.” he nodded. “We’re in.”
“Jacob, do you think Sam could come to some sort of understanding in this instance, so we could work together?” Carlisle asked.
“It would give us the numbers,” Jasper said, the wheels turning now as he prepared a battle plan in his head.
“I can talk to him. As long as we get to kill some vampires.” Jake said sarcastically.
“No.” Bella said suddenly.
“Bella,” Edward placated softly.
“No, you’ll get yourselves killed. It’s too dangerous.” Bella continued, not listening to Edward.
“Bella, this is what we do,” Jacob said. Embry and Quil nodded behind him.
“We’ll be fine, Bella,” Grace said. Jacob gave her a warning look. Something told her that he wasn’t including her in his instance of ‘we.’
“You’re definitely not going to be there,” Bella said matter-of-factly crossing her arms and getting irritated now. “Absolutely not.”
“Okay, mom. We’ll talk about it later,” Grace poked. Bella’s face was set. Grace and Jacob connected again, this time communicating wordlessly and coming up with a plan to convince Sam.
“It would be ideal if we could maybe coordinate with Sam and the pack, to ensure that there are no mistakes in the field,” Carlisle said.
“Yes, it would be best so we could train around each other. You’ll give us the edge we need, but if we can work with each other and learn from each other, then we can optimize our chances of survival.”
A weak sound came from Bella at this and Edward pulled her into him again.
“Got it. I’ll talk to Sam,” Jacob turned to Grace, “I’ll need your help with that.”
“Of course.” Grace said. He gave her a gentle smile and Grace felt herself shiver.

Request from @jessicanjpa: Another fic request if you'd like to do it: Alice and Jasper right after they "left" the Cullens when the Volturi were on their way in Breaking Dawn
A/n It’s been forever since I read Breaking Dawn, so sorry for any canon inaccuracies! I loved writing the angst in this. Thank you for the request! Remember everyone, requests are open :)
Pairing: Jasper/Alice
Rating: K
Disclaimer: I’m not making any money from this nor do I own anything recognizable
Word count: 493
Warnings: None
Jasper holds his wife’s hand, keeping careful monitor of her emotions.
She’s grieving.
Deep, cutting tendrils of despair weave through her entire body.
Is she grieving for the present or the future?
Maybe both at once.
He feels her resolve settle as she comes to a decision.
“It’s time.” Her voice is soft, barely audible to his ears. With heavy bones they stand, and he shoulders as much weight of this sadness as he can. Alice will be busy watching every possible outcome, chasing down every potential lead. The least he can do is keep the crushing sadness at bay.
Rather, he can try.
“Do you have the bag?”
Of course he does.
The bag has been packed, mocking them from its place under their bed, for the past two weeks. Still, he nods, holding it up for her to see. He knows she’s stalling. If they want to have even a chance at success, they need to follow her visions to the ’t’. So, with a gentle tug on her hand, Jasper leads Alice to the door, stopping briefly to place the note on the table by the entrance.
It takes them both a considerable amount of effort to cross the threshold.
Because really, what are the odds of them coming back?
Rather, what are the odds of them coming back to a complete family?
Alice hasn’t shared the exact calculation with him, but by her emotions, he knows it doesn’t look good.
But they’ve sworn to try.
As much as Jasper wants to hurry away with his love, run to the safety of a far off place, he knows that’s not going to happen. There was a time when, despite Alice’s certainty that he wouldn’t succeed, he would have thrown her over his shoulder and ran off anyway. But after living with the Cullen’s for the past sixty-five years, he is a changed man.
He knows he will willingly go down with his family.
And he also knows, as much as he wishes it weren’t true, that Alice will follow him to the grave.
The door of Edward and Bella’s cottage pulls him from his woeful thoughts and back to an equally grim reality.
Alice releases his hand and flits into the house, quickly going about her business. She’s leaving clues for Bella—and Bella only. Even Jasper doesn’t know what these clues entail. As much as he hates being in the dark, he knows it’s safer for everyone if the intricacies of Alice’s plan rest in as few heads as possible, especially with Edward around.
Alice returns, falling into his waiting arms, longing and emotional exhaustion seeping out of her. “We don’t even get to say a real goodbye.”
Jasper rubs her back, looking to comfort her as well as himself. In all this, he still has Alice. “I know, Darlin’.”
They take a final moment to breathe in the familiar scent of their home, then race away.
The clock is ticking.
And they cannot fail.
Be sure to check out my masterlist :)

Hi!What do you think about Demetri/Alec/Felix dating a hybrid?I mean, I had this idea since i read the last book but what if they found their mate when they went to check up on Joham? And one of his daughters is a redhead with unreal green eyes and shes even more beautiful than Heidi or Rosalie? Hybrids are more beautiful than vampires they say.Maybe has a gift too?I think this is an idea the entire fandom went over and i think its cool so if you want to, could u write some headcanons about it?
Hi hey hello! I definitely did enjoy writing these headcanons. Sorry they took a wee while but I hope you like!
Alec: He will be aged up to the movie version in this since hybrids fully mature to look like adults 😊
This boy is insatiably curious
You fascinate him
You’ve been alive a while but your experience is so different to his, you’ve lived so differently under your father’s influence
Expect long nights telling him every detail of your existence, what it was like to grow up so fast with your sisters, with Joham, knowing your brother only through notes and the occasional visit
He has learned by now that you come as a package deal with your sisters, but this is something he understands. As he and Jane shared a womb, so shall they share a life
Constantly tries to get you to eat human food because oh my god you can eat it without gagging? + “And this?” “Alec I can eat human food, it just tastes like cardboard.” “Even this?”
The first time you sleep in his presence he has this awestruck expression. He’s not watched anyone sleep in all the time he’s been immortal and doesn’t remember what it was like to sleep himself. All those faces you make as you dream send his mind absolutely reeling because what are you thinking about? What do you dream of? Is it bizarre in your head? What he wouldn’t give to catch a mere glimpse of your dreams…
Jane is…difficult. She wants to like you, really she does, but the only other hybrid she knows belongs to the Cullen’s and that whole fiasco is a sore spot as a Volturi defeat in her mind (and no one defeats her coven)
The first time you get a small scrape Alec FreAkS out because oh god you’re bleeding the whole room is going to be after your sweet sweet blood and…and it’s too sweet…you, you really don’t smell all that appealing like a regular human, hell, Santiago’s not even noticed? What?
Always grumbles and complains your too hot when you cuddle (you’re a solid 40°C after all) but secretly loves your warmth. He’s been frozen for centuries and you’re his very own hot water bottle + Does get a wee bit annoyed when you make him spoon with you later into the relationship because vampires aren’t be able to supposed to sweat but he SWEARS venom is leaking from every pore in his body because you make the bed an oven
15/10 from this boy, adores having a hybrid mate, you are the perfect snuggle buddy for him and just the right amount of human to make him feel like he’s doing a good job protecting you (even though you’re a hybrid and almost as strong as he is, it’s an old timey thing and he died a pubescent boy, let him feel like a man please)
Demetri:
Honestly? He forgets half of the time
“Absolutely not, I will not risk you coming hunting with me!” “I need to hunt and I will not be letting you stop me, bloodhound.”
When they had first gone to find Joham Demetri had been more than curious, the differences in his mind between vampire and hybrid stark considering they’d almost caused a war with the Cullen’s
He replayed the trial over and over in his mind as he followed the strangely vibrant tenor straight to…his mate?
Excuse you?
It swings one way or the other for the initial getting to know period, either he’s treating your fragile ‘human’ self like glass or your ‘vampire’ self is being thrown against the nearest wall because the man has urges and you’re more than happy to satisfy them
You were mostly raised by your sister, living the nomadic life of a vampire with visits to your father now and then when he wanted to check on your development, so you pair spend long hours discussing all the places you’ve been and things you have seen + Since Demetri is far older he has lots more stories to tell so these evenings eventually turn into him telling stories while you end up in a variety of situations. Sometimes he’s holding you to him in bed while he waits for you to fall asleep, other times he lights the fire and you sit curled up together on the sofa before it.
Your favourite Storytime setting by far is the window seat, where you can lean back against his chest and be blanketed by the diamonds his skin reflects in the sunset
You don’t really like human food all that much, but in an effort to woo you he spent all day watching videos and messing up recipes until he had perfected (if you count perfected as collapsing in on itself in places and a little bit raw in the middle) a chocolate cake to welcome you to Volterra for the first time
There was a little flour on his jaw still when he presented it to you and his eyes were all big
He had this smug little smile too
Too smug considering the state of the cake
You’ve been treated to baked goods ever since and Demetri has gotten rather good at his new hobby
110% watches you sleep but not for nefarious reasons. You talk in your sleep and Demetri has compiled a secret list of things you say for his eyes only + His favourite so far is “Felix no, put that poor duck down.” + You didn’t remember where that had come from so it remains without context, and Demetri has made a myriad of stories each more outlandish than the next as to where that quote came from
Loves to lay his head on your chest and listen to your fast, fluttering heartbeat, you get bonus points if you play with his hair
Doesn’t even bother tracking you by tenor anymore, you radiate heat, he knows when you’re near because he gets warmer
You’re rather self-concious that you live among the Volturi without being gifted + Demetri is always quick to remind you that your very nature is the most extraordinary gift in itself
Overall a very good match for a hybrid, you’re never bugged by endless questions like your sister is with Alec but you do need to remind him sometimes of your dual-species label, you need blood as much as you need sleep
Felix:
This character follows a specific idea of appearance stated in the request
Felix absolutely adores you, your perfect for him in every way!
Someone small and durable? Sign him up!
Your attitude is as fiery as your hair, which is a good thing because Felix needs someone as stubborn as he is
His head is as thick as his arms
The minute he sees you he’s completely under your spell which surprises only those closest to him – the mans a giant teddy bear as you now well know
Felix takes things nice and slow, he’s never been a fan of rushing into things when it comes to romance, and is very much intro traditional ways of wooing you + The first thing you receive is a simple letter, elegantly written in a large spidery hand. You were already smitten with the beefy man by the last line, the flowers that arrived a week later really weren’t necessary but very much appreciated
Your hybrid nature is perfect to him because for once, his height difference with you doesn’t seem so scary. He can’t help being big, but at least with your durability he doesn’t have to worry about crushing you
Felix is considered a grunt, muscle and little else, but he’s shared with you his passion for reading and poetry – you never tire of the poems he creates for you
He’s a very proud man so expect to be shown off to all the Guard and basically everyone you ever meet + “Enough of your chatter! You know your crime, now face your punishment!” “ I wouldn’t test my mate if I were you.” “Are you really going to reveal such a tactical weakness? They could target her.” “…I wouldn’t test this extremely beautiful and talented woman I am in no way connected to if I were you.” “Smooth Felix, really smooth.”
Once you feel comfortable with Felix, you show him your gift and its extraordinary effects – his eyes widen at the vivid, ethereal shade of green your eyes turn as you lift a hand and coax all the flora in the room towards you, you can expect him to never shut up about it once he knows + “Can you make another one?” “Not unless I hunt first.” “And then you can make me another flower?”
Felix, it turns out, is a giant goofball when he’s at home. You’re so used to seeing the tense guardsmen it is a complete shock to you when you start living with him in Volterra and see how carefree he is within the walls of his own home
You try not to condone his prank war with Demetri since they both get in trouble for it but you can’t resist helping out from time to time…you can tie off water balloons quicker than he can so you make a good accomplice
Felix doesn’t really touch you in public but he does steal kisses to assert his claim on you. He’ll kiss your forehead whenever he enters or exits a room you’re in, presses kisses to your cheek when you pass each other in the corridor
He reserves a kiss on the lips of any kind for when he’s leaving for a while if in public, like if he’s preparing for a mission with the guard for example, but when you’re alone expect to constantly be coddled by him. He wraps himself around you like a blanket and Will. Not. Let. Go!
