do you think cleo can feel heartbeats now? and if she can, is it when she wants to, or all of the time?
like she mentioned being able to feel miriam's blood in s1 and she's got a massive power upgrade since then, going from water powers to atmospheric
she also figured out her powers by exploding the hydrant, so i wonder if she could just feel whatever water's in her vicinity?
maybe emma and rikki can feel the sudden temperature change in the air and know when a storm's going to come. that'd be pretty useful for them actually
maybe bella can sense earthquakes and feel the structural integrity of a building
idk if anyone thought of this already?

I'm super curious to see how Compress and Cryokinesis would be like together.
Hi, I would like to see a quirk marriage on Mr. Compress and Fuyumi~
New Quirk Name: Ice Cube
This Emitter type Quirk allows the user to make small cubes of ice from their hands. When this ice cube touches something, the user can cause ice to rapidly burst out of the cubes within a short range of the point of impact. This ice works great to trap whatever is around it, freezing and preserving it inside of the ice. The user has some control over how the ice is formed, like making the surrounding ice into icicles to keep anyone from going near it. The user can delay the activation of the ice and can deactivate the ice by rubbing their hands together. This gives the user a versatile Quirk, able to throw out their ice cubes to cause all kinds of mayhem. They can incapacitate their enemies inside of ice cubes, reinforce an area with layers of ice, make people slip on sudden ice, hide ice cubes around as traps, protect their allies by encasing them in ice, drop ice blocks on people, or simply use it to replace their fridge. Though the Quirk has a serious weakness to heat, causing the ice to melt before or after it hits the target. People can smash through the ice as well or just wait for it to melt naturally. Making too many of these will end up freezing the user's hands, making it harder to make and throw their cubes.

CW: fire, collapsing building, fatigue, magic exhaustion (in the superpowers sense), burns, dizziness, fear, adrenaline, cryokinesis, trapped, crying, guilt, resignation
A/N: Buckle up my darlings shit's about to get intense.
----------
The smoke was heavy in the air.
Although Youngest’s mask covered the lower half of their face, it did little to protect their lungs. They coughed, eyes watering as they dashed through the burning apartment, using their powers of cryokinesis to smother any flames they came across.
“Help! Help!” The muffled shouting came from nearby.
Youngest stopped in their tracks and turned a full circle in the hallway. “Where are you?!”
“Here!”
Two doors down. Youngest sprinted to the door and tapped the door handle, hissing through their teeth in pain as they touched the hot metal. They blasted the door with ice, ice that immediately melted into a puddle and evaporated. They cursed and tested the handle again. Still too hot, but that didn’t matter anymore.
They cried out as pain flooded their hand, their skin sizzling from the heat. They shoved the door open, encasing their injured hand with ice as soon as they let go of the metal. The flames on the other side crackled and surged forward, hungry to consume them.
Youngest jumped back, throwing up a wall of ice against the fire and shoving the wall forward, choking the flames even as the ice melted into water. “I’m here!” They shouted, even as the first wave of exhaustion caused them to stagger, uninjured hand going to their head as the hallway spun beneath their feet.
Three people appeared through the door, and Youngest waved them towards the stairs. “Is anyone else in the building?”
Faint typing sounds. “No,” Techie said in their ear, “everyone is accounted for!”
“Alright Youngest,” Leader said, “get out of there, now!”
“Copy!” Youngest turned and sprinted down the hallway towards the stairs, the people they’d rescued long gone. The building wasn’t tall, thankfully, and they were only on the third floor, but the dash down the stairs felt like an eternity. A shiver ran down their spine as they ran as if the fire had caught up and lapped at their heels, eager to taste their flesh.
Above them, the building rumbled. Youngest’s heartbeat pounded in their ears as they tried to speed up, reaching the bottom of the stairs and dashing out into the lobby.
The exit was right there.
Within arms’ reach.
But running was never Youngest’s strong suit.
As the ceiling caved in above them, Youngest reacted by instinct and formed a dome around themself in a weak attempt to shelter from the falling debris. Adrenaline coursed through their veins as they poured all their energy into the small dome, even as wood, metal, and stone rained around them.
As the noise of the building collapsing drowned out all other sounds.
As their shelter was completely buried.
As fear curled in their stomach while their energy slowly drained away.
As darkness engulfed them.
As they became increasingly aware that they couldn’t keep it up for much longer.
As they realized that the air might run out before help arrived.
If help arrived at all.
Youngest slumped, head spinning, and stopped reinforcing the dome. “...Techie?” They asked softly, vaguely aware of their burned hand beginning to throb. “Techie, can you hear me?”
No response. Not even the clacking sound of their fingers on the keyboard.
“Leader?”
Nothing.
“Sound Gun?”
Nothing.
“Shapeshifter?”
Nothing.
“...anyone?”
Youngest’s eyes burned from unshed tears.
They don’t care about you.
Hero’s words from that night seemed to echo through the dome.
Theyll abandon you if they thought it was for the good of the city.
I’m sorry, Youngest.
They’d thought they were lying, they’d pushed Hero away. At the time, it’d seemed like the right decision. Youngest hated to even consider it, but they’d begun to believe Hero’s words, as unlikely as they had seemed. Teleporter spending a lot of time in the lower levels before their death. Shapeshifter’s, Pyrokinetic’s, and even Sound Gun’s harsh treatment of villains and criminals. When they’d caught Leader in a lie.
How there’d never been a search for Hero’s body.
If Hero was right….
No one was coming.
They would die here.
Alone.
Youngest closed their eyes and pulled off their mask, the tears finally streaming down their face. Perhaps if they’d listened to Hero, had gone with them that night….
It was too late to indulge in what-ifs.
Far too late for that.

Kira Snow Queen 🧊
Kira is cold and calculating, just like her mother, the Snow Queen. She enjoys freezing people in their tracks (literally) and playing dirty tricks in order to get her way. While others may scold her for her awful ways, she thrives on it.
Just like her mother, Kira has absolute control over snow and ice, as well as resistance to the coldest temperatures imaginable. She prefers cold climates and when she's home in the Snow Queen's castle, she can usually be found skating through it's icy hallways.

Watching the Frozen movies again. Remembering how much I love them. You know for children’s movies, they actually can get pretty dark when you really analyze the concepts used to tell the story. Showing how quickly magic can become a very destructive thing when not handled correctly or when there’s a lack of emotional control. Elsa’s magic being more so PK ability. That of hydrokinesis/cryokinesis. The psychic ability to manipulate or control water, ice or frost.
There has been similar stories about this with the element of fire as well. Stephen King’s ‘Firestarter’ specifically comes to mind. And many a Marvel or DC character have possessed these supernatural abilities.
It really is about learning to control your inner power because psychic ability (or magic) is an extension of our thoughts and emotions - of our internal selves. The Frozen movie specifically tells the story of a gifted/cursed child that has to overcome their fear of putting their loved ones in danger out of a mishandling and lack of control of their mental and emotional power - which manifests as a physical supernatural ability.
You take the metaphor of that away and you’re left with a child who grows up to be afraid of their own power because they’ve been taught that it’s wrong, that it’s a threat, that it’s destructive and chaotic. When really, what’s more dangerous is repressing it because the fear of it only continues to grow instead and that can be even more destructive in the end.
This is a very dark concept to be telling the story of in a children’s movie if not for the metaphor being used.
But this is also why it connects to an older audience.
Why it works as an all-the-family movie because the older audience can see behind the metaphor to the strong and substantial message that’s there while the younger audience thinks it’s cool and entertaining but can come to relate and resonate with the characters.
Both Frozen 1 and 2 navigate these icy waters quite literally to tell the story of the danger of repression. Keeping it in over letting it out when the latter, while still dangerous, is less dangerous than the former because there’s no emotion more chaotic than fear. And when you possess such immense power that you can’t control, and there’s no real guidance for how to… that fear only intertwines with that immense inner power and exacerbates it - it doesn’t stop or quell it. In that way the moral to the story is about allowing and accepting our inner power than it is about controlling or concealing it and that’s why it’s so empowering and captivating to audiences of any age or gender. They learn that repression just makes power worse because there’s no true understanding of it in the first place.
And I feel like a lot of people who do possess psychic/intuitive power innately need to know and learn this because they’re taught and encouraged to control and conceal their power more so than they are taught to allow and accept themselves as they naturally are.
Speaking from personal experience - when I realized that I was psychic and possessed claircognizant and clairsentient abilities, I didn’t understand my experiences: I thought there was something wrong with me and there was no one I could talk to about it. So having a fictional character like Elsa when I was young would have really helped me with knowing and understanding myself and my own abilities before I had even come across the right or correct “term” and “definition” for them. Before I knew that they were good and that they were a natural part of who I am.
The Frozen movies matter to someone like me that does possess psychic power and ability. But they would also matter to someone not like me because the metaphor doesn’t have to be taken literally. It could simply just be that of understanding our inner power and that we are just as worthy with it or without it.
And that’s the deep story there behind the metaphor. But also very much through the metaphor as well. For me it’s through the metaphor but for most people it’ll be behind the metaphor. Both are just as empowering.

Superpower Series (6/?)
Cryokinesis is the ability to create, shape, and manipulate ice, water frozen into a solid state. As an elemental power, cryokinesis has a nigh-limitless number of uses, only limited by the user's imagination and their natural limits.

why did we decide the 50s' mermaids had the same powers as their counterparts again?
i was thinking about this the other day and i feel like it's way more interesting if they had different powers than the girls for like narrative reasons
with their powers being representative of why the 50s' mermaids didn't work, but the h2os' did
(ignoring what they said in mm. in my world rikki and emma are married, live together in an apartment and have a cocker spaniel named triton and a cat affectionately named by rikki as 'little shit')
let's start; rikki and julia
snow is an element associated with isolation and loneliness, with harsh and cold personalities
both of them have isolated themselves before. rikki grew up being harsh to others, scaring everyone away - because she was afraid of getting hurt. julia, we know she isolated herself from the others after the karl incident. we don't know much about her other than that, except she probably died alone if her locket ended up in an estate sale
rikki could've ended up like julia. but she didn't - because she warmed up to her friends, and she learned to be more open with them (again ignoring mm)
next. cleo and gracie
i find it interesting, how different they sound to be? gracie was a free-spirited model, she only ever wore unique things and everyone that knew her talked admiringly of her from what i remember. cleo, on the other hand, she'd been shown to be unconfident, preferring to stay out of the limelight, and resistant to change
but in the end, it was gracie that burnt out and took everything down with her, while cleo overcame her fear, learned to adapt, and to love being in the water
(thinking about when louise said rikki's power was the most dangerous. anyways)
finally, emma 'n louise
louise saw herself in emma for a reason, she gave her locket to her. and i take that to mean she was like emma, when she was younger - although she's def a lot more carefree now (and cryptic)
emma's very grounded, she's stubborn. and set in her ways, which makes her the perfect candidate for earth. but one of her biggest problems is that she puts too much responsibility on her shoulders
i mentioned snow was an element associated with isolation, but it's also an element associated with childish fun, like snowball fights - and building snowmen
so tldr; i hc that julia had emma's power of ice, gracie had rikki's power of fire, and louise had bella's power of earth
also. what it means for louise and bella, that they have the same powers. i think it's more interesting if there were more parallels in play than just the direct counterparts. so, louise and bella
first off, of course, their shared powers / elements - (i don't think bella can just turn things to jelly, it relates to my pressure manipulation idea)
louise was with her friends, when she got her powers. bella, on the other hand, was alone to deal with her tail and powers
then bella found others like her, and she wasn't alone anymore. louise lost her friends, and she gave up her powers because it was too much for her to handle by herself
and one last thing. the locket gems
fires can be a lot of different colors, the hottest being blue
diamond, which is a popular hc (?) for em's gem, is representative of earth + pressure
and julia's red gem. idk. santa claus or something. the berries on mistletoe. blood on snow. just a bunch of holiday assocations for julia ig? could've just been her favorite color

This QM has been on me mind for a while: Cryokinesis + Super Regeneration?
New Quirk Name: On Ice
This Transformation type Quirk activates whenever the user becomes damaged. When they do, ice will begin to grow out over the wound. This affects anything from minor cuts to injuries as big as decapitation. This ice will put the part in question in a frozen stasis, working to protect and preserve it in the ice. If anything is lost, the ice will replace it with a functional counterpart, such as a missing eye still being able to see, and the user will be able to move their arm. This is helped by how strong the ice is, capable of even blocking heavy gun fire unharmed. The user has minor control over the ice once it is made, not only moving it but also reshaping it into simple objects, like turning their missing arm into a sword and then a hammer. Anything that is missing will eventually grow back into a normal part. This gives the user a powerful defensive tool, able to come back from damage done to them with icy vengeance. If nothing else, it can keep the user from getting hurt in day-to-day situations. Though this does require the user to get damage in order to do this, making it unreliable. The Quirk has a notable weakness to fire as well, dealing more damage to the ice and potentially harming the user directly.

CW: PTSD, breaking and entering, sabotage, self-deprecation, swearing, harsh words, denial, mentioned injury, crying
A/N: Introducing a couple new characters: Antihero, a part-time hero, part-time villain who owed Villain a few favors, and Youngest, the most inexperienced member of Hero's old team. Also the first appearance of Hero's powers! They're a telekinetic.
----------
“...are you sure the distraction’s gonna work?”
“Antihero knows what they’re about, love. Trust me, we’ll have all the time you need.”
Hero shifted uneasily in their seat, watching the lights of the city streak by outside the car window. “I do, but… what about Techie? Won’t they alert Shapeshifter, Sound Gun and Leader once they find out we’re inside?”
Villain sighed, eyes fixed on the road. “I already told you, I’ll handle it.” Hero opened their mouth, but Villain raised a finger from the wheel, silencing them. “And don’t worry, I won’t kill them. If all goes well, they won’t even suspect what we came for until it’s too late.”
“Okay….”
Villain turned onto a side street, close to Hero’s former team’s headquarters, but not close enough to draw attention. They eased the car to a stop and put it into park before turning to Hero. “Are you sure you want to go through with this? If things don’t go as planned, it could end very badly for both of us.”
Hero gritted their teeth and nodded, thoughts whirling. “Not just us, but Techie and Youngest and maybe Antihero and—!”
Villain gently put a finger on Hero’s lips. “Hush. It’ll all work out.”
“But—!”
“Trust me?”
Hero slowly exhaled, trying to soothe their racing nerves. “Trust you.”
Villain smiled. “Good. Now, let’s break into your old headquarters, shall we?” They removed their hand and swiftly exited the car. Hero stared after them for a long moment, painfully aware of the spot on their lips where Villain’s finger had just been, just barely brushing against their skin. Villain shut the car door, and Hero jumped, quickly following suit, heat spreading across their face.
Their mask would hide the worst of the blush, probably. And the rest was hopefully covered by the darkness—
“…Hero?”
Hero jumped. “S-sorry,” they mumbled, starting down the sidewalk. “Just… memories.”
Stupid, stupid, stupid! Hero couldn’t afford to lose focus. Not now. And especially not while inside their old headquarters, where every second that ticked by was one second closer to getting caught.
Caught.
And imprisoned.
And tortured….
“Hero?”
They snapped out of their thoughts as Villain gently touched their shoulder. “I…” Hero blinked and realized they’d almost walked past the side door, their ticket into the building. They smacked their forehead in frustration. “Fuck… sorry, I was just….”
Villain frowned. “If you’re not ready for this, we can turn around and go home. I’ll call off Antihero, and we can try again another day.” They glanced up at Hero’s old headquarters, and the frown deepened. “Your team did a lot of fucked up shit, and they deserve to pay for every damned scrap.
“But…” they looked back to Hero, and their gaze softened. “We don’t have to do this now. Just say the word.”
Hero hesitated. The offer was tempting, it really was. But… they had the suspicion that if they backed out now, they would never muster up the courage to return. And that thought… that thought terrified them more than getting caught.
They shook their head.  “No. We’re doing this.”
“Alright.” Villain nodded slowly and gestured to the door. “Lead the way. This is your mission, after all.”
Hero took a deep breath, steeling their nerves against the memories that threatened to flood their brain and overwhelm them again. I’m coming, Youngest. They pressed their hand to the doorknob and reached out with their powers, grasping the inner mechanisms with insubstantial fingers.
The lock clicked. Hero allowed themself a small smile of victory. It had been a while since they’d used their telekinesis for something as complex as the lock. This was promising. They pushed open the door and slipped inside, Villain on their heels.
The side door opened into a hallway that ran along the entire length of the first floor of the headquarters, connecting to the lobby, a few unimportant storage rooms, and the service staircase. Hero led the way down the hallway, their powers seeking out and disabling the security cameras in the stairwell long before they reached the door.
“Alright,” Villain murmured as they ascended the stairs, “just point me in the direction of the surveillance room and I’ll be off.”
Hero nodded, passing the second and third-floor doors before stopping at the fourth floor. “Second door, end of that hallway.”
“Got it,” Villain moved past them, but Hero caught their arm.
“Just… don’t hurt them too badly. Please.”
Villain’s expression was unreadable beneath the mask, but they nodded. “Of course, love.”
With those words, they vanished through the door. Hero listened to their quiet footsteps for a couple heartbeats before they shook themself and continued up the stairs. Youngest would likely be in their room. Hero remembered from their training days when Leader would lock them in their room to prevent them from following on patrol before they were deemed ready.
The memory reared its head, threatening to drown them, but Hero shook their head and pressed on. Youngest. They were here for Youngest.
The lock was no more difficult to open than the side door. Youngest jumped up as the door opened, words already spilling out. “Is everything okay? Do you need me to…” Their eyes widened as their brain caught up with what they were seeing. “Hero?!”
Hero winced at the shock and disbelief in their voice. “Hey, Youngest.”
“I… you died! You’re supposed to be at the bottom of the ocean somewhere…” Youngest staggered, grabbing onto their desk for support. Frost spread across the wooden surface from their fingers, but they didn’t notice.
“Ah… is that what Leader told you?”
Youngest hesitated before nodding. “They said… they said you were taking a break, to go visit some family… but your plane crashed into the ocean…” They perked up and started moving towards the door. “We have to let everyone know you’re okay! Have you told Techie yet—?”
Hero didn’t move from the doorway, even as Youngest paused expectantly in front of them. “Listen to me, Youngest. I never went on a break, never went on a plane.”
Youngest blinked in confusion. “...huh?”
“I…” Hero’s voice shook as they sought the right words, “I was getting sloppy. Pulled one too many all-nighters. Let a couple big villains get away from me. Leader wasn’t happy about any of that. And… and when I asked to take a break, I think that’s when they snapped. There’s… there’s a reason why the lower levels are off-limits.”
Youngest stared at them, eyes growing wider by the second as Hero’s words sank in. They stepped back. “No,” they protested, “no, you’re lying!”
“I wish I was lying,” Hero murmured. “They don’t care about you. They only care about what you can do for them, and damned if you act like a person who has needs!”
Youngest shook their head, hands raised defensively. “How could you say something like that?! Leader took us in, trained us… they’re like a parent to me! They would never do that!”
“I’m sorry, Youngest, but it’s true. They’ll abandon you if they thought it was ‘for the good of the city’.” Hero’s voice turned mocking, remembering Teleporter’s words as they’d exacted the punishment ordered by Leader. “That’s why I came back. I didn’t want to leave you behind when you, too, caught their wrath.”
Youngest’s expression darkened. “Get out.”
Hero blinked. “What?”
“Get. The fuck. Out. Or I will make you leave. You’re not Hero. You’re something else, wearing their face, wearing their mask.”
Hero’s stomach churned, the earlier fear and panic returning at full force. “Youngest, I….”
“Don’t ‘Youngest’ me!” Youngest screamed, the temperature rapidly dropping. “Leave! Leave, or I might change my mind and trap you here so you can repeat your lies to Leader’s face! How does that sound?!”
Hero stepped back in shock. They wouldn’t… would they? “I’m sorry, Youngest,” they managed to say, voice shaking. “Just… I’m sorry.”
They thrust out with their hand, slamming the door shut with such hurried force that it rattled in the doorframe. The lock clicked, and Hero spun and sprinted back down the hallway, tears threatening to spill down their cheeks.
They were too late.
Down the stairs.
They’d waited too long.
The fourth-floor hallway.
They failed.
The surveillance room. Hero barely glanced around the room, registering Techie lying unconscious on the floor before they dashed across the room to where Villain bent over the console. Villain turned in surprise, eyes widening as they noted the look on Hero’s face and the distinct lack of Youngest.
Hero mashed themself against Villain’s chest, the tears finally arriving in full force. “I… they… they thought I was… they didn’t want… threatened to…to….”
Villain slowly wrapped their arms around Hero, their fingers running through Hero’s hair. “Oh… I’m so sorry. You tried your best.”
“I… I really thought….”
“I know, I know.” Villain removed one of their hands, tapping on the keyboard. “If it’s any consolation, I got the other thing we needed.”
Hero continued to sob, Youngest’s words playing over and over in their mind.
“Hero… Hero!” Villain gently pushed them away and planted their hands on their shoulders. “We gotta get our asses out of here before the team gets back, okay? Plenty of time to sort through your emotions when we’re home free.”
Hero slowly nodded, removing their mask to wipe away the tears. “Okay…” they mumbled, voice still shaking.
Villain nodded, grabbing Hero’s hand. “Let’s go, love.”
