Relationship: Zedaph/Impulse/Tango Summary: Zedaph gets overwhelmed by the crowd at Impulse's first MCC and almost has a panic attack. Thankfully, Tango is there to help him out. CW: Slight panic attack (not graphic)

There was a reason Zedaph tended to base by himself and away from everyone else on the server. It wasn’t that he was anti-social or anything! And it definitely had nothing to do with the other Hermits at all, they’re all lovely people, after all. It was just that… He can get overwhelmed by people sometimes. When there were more than one conversation happening at any one time, when there were multiple people he had to pay attention to, when the noise gets just a bit too much for his sensitive ears and he starts getting headaches just from being around so many people. No, he’d much prefer to talk to them one on one or in small groups.

It was also why he rarely ventured out into the hub world or other large servers outside of Hermitcraft. And even when he did, he always went with both or either of his partners, Impulse and Tango. They always knew when he would get on the verge of feeling overwhelmed and know to lead him out of stressful situations and back to a safe place. He knew he could always rely on them. And in return, they could always count on him as well.

And it was also for that reason that he was even here to begin with.

At MCC. In the middle of a crowd. Surrounded by strangers. Watching Impulse up on a stage being crowned at his very first ever MCC.

It had been alright at first, when he was only sitting with the other Hermits in their private booth in the stadium to watch the games. But then Dodgebolt had come and gone and suddenly everyone was streaming outside to watch the new Champions get crowned. And Zedaph had been swept along with them.

Caught up in all the excitement and adrenaline, Zedaph was helpless and confused, having lost the Hermits somewhere along the way. And now he was alone in a sea of people, all screaming and shouting and flailing their arms in celebration. It was overwhelming.

His knees started shaking, his breath coming in short staccatos and his head was starting to ring from the noise. He knew that soon, his vision would start to go fuzzy and he would start dissociating at best and at worst, faint like a startled sheep.

He needed to find the Hermits fast. He needed to find Tango. He couldn’t embarrass Impulse by straight up fainting in the middle of his Victory Walk!

He did his best to look around, looking for hide or hair of his friends. But all he could see were blurry colours and unfamiliar faces. It didn’t help that he, being a sheep hybrid, was significantly shorter than the rest of the population.

He couldn’t find them.

He didn’t know if he could even make it to them in time.

But just as he was about to resign himself and curl up into a miserable ball right there and then, he felt familiar arms grasp at him.

“Zedaph! There you are!”

Zedpah opened his eyes (when had he closed them?) and almost fainted in relief instead. “Tango!” he whimpered.

His partner looked at him in concern, hands firm on his shoulders, grounding him, “Let’s get you outta here.” The blazeborn wound his arms protectively around Zedpah, sheltering him even just a little from the crowd around him.

Tango was able to swiftly navigate them out of the crowd and towards the portal hub.

“B-but what about Impulse?” Zedpah murmured, glancing back at the raised dais that still held the new Champions, grinning and cheering at the crowd.

“Impulse will be more worried about you having a panic attack than not seeing us for a few more minutes. Don’t worry, Zed. Your safety comes first.”

“And- and the others?”

“I already shot them a message. They know we’re heading home now. And they’ll let Impy know too.”

“Okay,” Zedaph concentrated on breathing now that his worries had been at least slightly assuaged.

With a gentle tug, Tango led Zedaph to where Hermitcraft’s portal stood. And soon after, they were both back on familiar land.

“Come on, we can go relax in my starter house,” Tango said, knowing that after stressful situations like that, Zedpah would be very tried and sleepy.

Zedaph followed Tango wordlessly, trusting his partner to lead him to safety. They slowly, but surely made their way to the witchy swamp house that Tango had made in their early days of settling in this world. Tango still had most of his bedding and nesting stuff around, seeing as the Frozen Citadel was a far cry from being anything comfy or warm. Zedaph, Impulse and Tango had often found their way here to just cuddle together or spend time away from their megabases.

“Alright, let’s get settled down,” Tango set Zedpah down on the cushy bed, piled with blankets and pillows. “Impulse will be back soon and we can have ourselves a little cuddle pile, hm?”

Zedpah nodded weakly, already feeling drowsy from the stress and almost having a panic attack just minutes ago.

“Do you want a snack before you nod off there, sleepy head?” Tango teased, chuffing him gently on his head.

“No, I’m good,” Zedpah mumbled, already starting to crawl into bed.

“Hey, wait!” Tango stopped him before he could though, making him pout with a whine, “You gotta at least get into your comfy clothes first, Zed. Trust me, you’ll feel way better.”

Zedpah reluctantly got out of the bed, taking the clothes Tango held out for him. Within a minute, he was in the softest, plushest pyjamas they had and Tango was right, he was feeling loads better. The nice, soft material was heaven on his skin after the sticky, claustrophobic crowd at MCC.

“There we go, all soft and cozificated now,” Tango smiled, heart gushing at how adorable Zedaph looked all tucked into bed. He quickly changed into his pyjamas as well and wiggled into bed with his partner, holding him close. “Good?”

“Mmph,” Zedpah gave a vague noise of appreciation, making Tango chuff in amusement.

Without even realising, Zedpah had drifted off to sleep. It was only when he heard Impulse’s voice that he knew he had nodded off in the first place.

“I’m so sorry,” Impulse was saying, “I didn’t see your message until I got off the podium. I would’ve come here sooner if I did.”

“Hey, don’t stress, Impy,” Tango’s voice replied, “You were having your big moment, we don’t blame you.”

“But still, I know Zed doesn’t do well with crowds, I should’ve-”

“Nope,” Tango immediately shut him down, “Don’t even go there.”

“But I-”

“Tango’s right,” Zedpah stopped Impulse before he could get into a self-blaming spiral like he tended to do.

The two startled at his voice, whipping their heads down to look at him. Zedpah opened his eyes to give Impulse a mock glare.

“Don’t you start blaming yourself, mister,” he warned, “You won MCC. That’s amazing and you should be celebrating.”

“But I want to celebrate with you guys,” Impulse looked at him imploringly, eyes wide.

“Then change into your pj’s and get your butt in here,” Zedpah huffed, closing his eyes and snuggling deeper into the blankets, “We’re doing a victory cuddle pile.”

“You heard the man,” Tango grinned, “Get your butt in here.”

Impulse chuckled, knowing when to admit defeat. He quickly changed into his pj’s and got into bed. He curled protectively around Zedpah’s other side, making him the middle of the cuddle pile.

Zedpah shuffled into Impulse’s chest and promised, “Tomorrow, we’ll have a proper celebration.”

“Shh, don’t worry about that. I want my victory cuddle,” Impulse squeezed his two partners into his arms. Tango made a mock squeaky toy noise, making Zedaph giggle.

Soon, the three fell into a deep sleep, exhausted from the day. Impulse from participating in MCC, Tango from looking frantically for Zed during the crowning ceremony and Zedaph from having a near panic attack. They would have all the time in the world tomorrow and onwards to celebrate Impulse’s victory. For now, they could just enjoy the victory cuddle pile.

Jesus help me.

I'm not into kiddie shit. I don't like kids media. I never cared for the cartoons I used to watch when I was younger. I'm not "kidcore" or "plushcore" or "liminal-space-of-a-playground-core" or whatever-core.

I am a proud, dubiously respectable 20-going-on-21 year old adult.

But... A few weeks ago I stepped onto Twitter one day and saw a resurgence of the greatest thing that ever happened to 4-year-old me.

And now I've been silently obsessing over this stupid piss-colored rat and his stupid technicolor ensemble ever since. And I decided to half-sorta-kinda make some designs for a possible AU/parody "reboot", because my body functions on embarrassment and embarrassment alone.

We're going full cringe, gamers. This is my domain.

Join me, friends, on my pilgrimage to 0 followers because I keep posting stupid shit instead of things of substance.

I am going on a downward spiral to Hell and I'm dragging all of you down with me. (this is a very long post with extra autistic rambling, courtesy of yours truly)

You guys remember the show "Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!"?

Well. I do. And if you (reader) do too, we're already kissing (no allo).

For those of you who aren't in the loop with Twitter's community bullshit, basically for Year of the Rabbit, some furry artists managed to dig up... Widget, as their primary source material, because she's a rabbit. And I'm half parts giddy and half parts pissed for multiple reasons.

For starters (somewhat unrelated), the HBO Max rendition of Scooby Doo, "Velma" came out sometime in 2023 (I can't exactly remember the date). It was essentially a SUPARR GRITTY EDGY ADULT REBOOT

In short, it horribly butchered the source material and in its attempt to be a SUPARR GRITTY EDGY ADULT REBOOT, basically became an insulting mockery of the show it was based off of or "reviving".

And I thought to myself... What if I did that? What if I ruined my own childhood by taking this crown jewel of 2006 and also turning it into a SUPARR GRITTY EDGY ADULT REBOOT?

In the parodical sense, of course.

Basically a reimagining of Wubbzy and friends in a late 2010s setting, possibly 2016, when the characters are a little older and having to slog through the parts of life that aren't particularly suitable for a preschooler's cartoon.

I wanted to keep the art style somewhat true to the source material, but my cartooning skills are extremely rusty and I don't know how to give things the "Generic Adult Cartoon" look, so the art style ended up looking like the horrible out-of-wedlock spawn of Winnie the Pooh and Adventure Time.

Hopefully I didn't unintentionally ruin their designs because I had to give most of them stupid emo 2012 furry hair swoops. Their "redesigns" just looked incomplete without them.

Going through the main-ish characters (incomplete) and how I've bastardized them to fit the SUPARR GRITTY EDGY ADULT REBOOT theme (very much not to sizing scale):

I've changed around some of the species choices for the characters to make them a little more "interesting" in my opinion. This will play into some of their behaviors, because I fucking love talking animal characters acting like the animals they were based off of.

Very one dimensional descriptions because I'm still finding my footing with this, and I just need to get this off my chest.

Wubbzy is a hybrid of a Mongolian gerbil and a sand cat. He's 14 now.

Basically the standard angsty teen struggling to maintain his chipper attitude in an environment that's more unnecessarily meanspirited and meaningless because he's stuck in a gritty "deep" adult cartoon and "life just suuucks, maaan".

Daizy is a Maltese breed dog (im not hybridizing her because her source design is crowded enough).

A year older than Wubbzy, she is one of those kids who "lives under a rock" per-se. Somehow is able to keep the same cheerful demeanor since she was a kid, but is frequently bullied and mocked for her naivety and her lack of knowledge on memes and other teenage trends.

And now for these three bozos. Once upon a time, they were silly kids that loved playing outdoor games and so on. Now they're juul hitting, offensive meme posting, band playing, devil's lettuce smoking (alleged) delinquents. They're all the same age as Daizy (so 15).

Huggy is a least weasel, and she's just at the beginning of her streetcore phase.

The mastermind behind the meme pages run by the three, and she's the reason why all of them are addicted to monster drinks, anime, "edgy" memes, and every flavor of e-cigarrette there is.

Buggy is a European hare, and is the patron saint of "band kids".

Super obsessed with anime and vidya, is one of the 1st trumpets in his band class and uses that opportunity to play every dead meme imaginable, and has dubiously been featured several times on r/iamverysmart.

Earl is the hybrid of a Syrian hamster and a Bengal tiger.

One of those dudes that's super into sports, cars, men's fashion, and fitness. Was the first to introduce the three to cringe anime gymbro memes. A Certified Good Boi, but is cursed to have the fashion sense of a fuckboy for the rest of his life.

And of course, we can't forget about these old, saggy losers (affectionate)

Firstly, to get this off my chest, it's one of my biggest pet peeves when people choose to... "yassify" characters, but they refuse to do it in a way that actually fits the character. I've seen my fair share of fat Widget and curvy Widget, but why do none of these cowards ever draw her buff? Did they even watch the show? Widget's a fucking carpenter and mechanical engineer for fucks sake. She's shitting out heavy, complicated robotics and automation like every half hour. SHE BUILDS ALL HER FUCKING INVENTIONS BY HAND. She could LITERALLY crush everyone around her like rotten grapes if she wanted to, and yet I NEVER see anyone make her the barrel-chested, steel-pecced, iron-fisted Valkyrie she was meant to be. Anyway...

These two (hypothetically) will have the most adult oriented themes and issues, amplified even moreso because as of "2016" they'd be in their mid 30s. Neither change very much because it's extremely likely that in the source show, they're already post-college adults.

(these two were/are my favorite characters too, so of course i have to put them through the most suffering lol)

Widget, Millennial Scum #2 (1982 baby), is a hybrid of a black-tailed jackrabbit and a greater bilby.

Unluckily had her workshop closed down for unlicensed manufacturing as well as a specific "accident" she'd prefer not to mention. Now struggles to regain where her career was dropped off by working as a designer and manufacturer for some unspecified corporation. Throughout her struggles, she somehow manages to stay hopeful and determined that she'll return to her love of freelance engineering.

Walden, Millennial Scum #1 (1981 baby), is a hybrid of a Malayan sun bear and a thylacoleo (carnifex). Goes through the most suffering because he was/is my absolute favorite ;-)

After a false accusation from some disgruntled out-of-town interns/coworkers, his credentials were compromised and he was put on a watchlist after rumors began to circulate that he owned and operated a meth lab. Was basically barred from having an in-person occupation, or really any occupation that isn't anonymous. On top of that, he believes he's "hit the wall" prematurely, thinking he's too old, too controversial, and too out-of-touch to live an exciting and fulfilling life anymore.

These aren't finalized and I don't even know why I'm speaking like this when I'm regarding basically a crackfic, but uhhhh that was all from me

Today, July 20, 2023, we are celebrating our 99th birthday!

Many of you across the world will celebrate International Chess Day 2023 with various activities and happenings all about our beloved game. On this day, we want to reinforce the tradition started in previous years: we ask members of the chess community to teach someone how to play chess. The more, the merrier! Be it your neighbour, niece, colleague or grandfather, let's make the chess family grow. Don't forget to share your experience on social media using the hashtag #Internationalchessday. Let's make our celebrations really big and prove that chess is the most played game in the world!

Why did the United Nations choose exactly July 20 to celebrate chess? It was done to mark the date of the International Chess Federation's establishment in 1924, so it is also our birthday! Let's briefly walk through our history and remember all the major milestones that lead us to this day.

International Chess Federation, or shorter, FIDE (stands for Fédération Internationale des Échecs), is the governing body for the game of chess. What does FIDE do? It organizes major chess events, which form the World Championship Cycle, Chess Olympiads, Rapid and Blitz Championships, tournaments for people with disabilities, veterans, and children, as well as various exhibition and online events. It awards international chess titles, like the coveted Grandmaster, and calculates rating. FIDE creates and implements the rules of chess and standards for tournaments. It is actively involved in social projects and the promotion of chess on the grassroots level. FIDE is recognized by International Olympic Committee and includes as many as 199 national chess federations! Let's have a closer look.

FIDE was formed on July 20, 1924, in Paris, France, during the first unofficial Chess Olympiad. It was born at the Town Hall of the IX Arrondissement of Paris (6 Rue Drouot). Fifteen delegates from all over the world signed the proclamation act, and our organization was born.

In 1927, FIDE organized the first Chess Olympiad and the first Women's World Championship in London. In 1948, FIDE started overseeing the World Chess Championship. Today, both absolute and women's chess crowns belong to players from China: Ding Liren and Ju Wenjun.

In 1950, FIDE awarded its first Grandmaster title to 27 players. Today, FIDE titles also include International Master, Women's Grandmaster, Women's International Master, and lower-level ones like FIDE Master or FIDE Candidates Master.

The first official FIDE rating list came out in 1971. This universal rating system, named after its creator Arpad Elo measures a player's skill level and tracks their progress over time. New rating lists are out at the beginning of every month, and professionals and amateurs alike are eager to check the new numbers next to their surname.

In 1999, FIDE was recognized by the International Olympic Committee – a major milestone in the organization's history.

The motto of FIDE is "Gens una sumus", which translates from Latin as "We are one family". This motto is a reflection of the organization's vision of chess as a sport that unites people from all over the world. Family means care, and in recent years FIDE's social projects have become an essential part of the organization's operations. "Infinite Chess" project introduces the game to children with ASD, "Chess for Freedom" program brings chess behind the bars of prisons, "Chess for Protection" helps refugees find their way with the help of the game. FIDE financially supports its veterans in need and holds competitions for people with disabilities. The first Chess Olympiad for People with Disabilities took place in January-February 2023 in Belgrade.

Chess has found its place in the ever-changing world of modern technology. Today, FIDE organizes online and hybrid events and implements new technological solutions. In 2023 chess became part of the Olympic Esports Series.

Next year, FIDE will celebrate its 100-year birthday. The International Chess Federation has come a long way since its first steps a century ago. Today, it is based in Switzerland alongside other major sports governing bodies. It encompasses 199 national chess federations, which makes FIDE one of the largest sports federations in the world.

Throughout its history, FIDE has been instrumental in shaping the world of chess, and we never stop aiming for new heights, serving the game and chess community.

Monster March - Day 22- Fae- Part 1

Coronation Day

You know, I had no idea what I was going to write for this. But then I was inspired by The Crown. And then from there- my hand slipped and before I knew it. I had 20k words. So I broke it up into three parts. Is the story over? No. But I wanted to give you what I had so far that should hopefully let you see where I'm going with this.

As always, thanks to @borealwrites for their Monster March prompts, even though, we are literally half way through April and I still have a bunch more to do. I really only did mean to write a one shot. But my muse went- 'you know, you could totally have more if you wanted to' and I was like 'hell yeah' and just...ran wild with it. And there is a pun in this. Because March is supposed to 'come in like a lion and out like a lamb' and I kind of took that concept and made a character the embodiement of it. So that was fun.

Monster March 2023- Day 22 Fae

Coronation Day

Part 1

“Are we ready Ladies?” Crown Princess Ambrosia asked you and her other Ladies as you all finished putting the royal regalia on her while all you then put on your own Royal Regalia Procession attire. You all finished up on yourselves before you all then took your places, to help the Crown Princess walk her extra long train down the Enthronement Path. That led from the room where you all had been preparing for this ceremony the whole day, with only a few maids to come in with platters to feed you since in this room was the first stage of her metamorphosis. Because today was Enthronement Day. Where Crown Princess Ambrosia would be made into Queen Regent Ambrosia.

You all double checked yourselves to make sure all of you looked your most perfect while your own attendants made sure that not a hair nor eyelash would be out of place. You were Ambrosia’s Premiere Attendant De Honorhe. You were her oldest and closest friend since childhood. And you were her first pick to serve her in that capacity, which you were honored and privileged to do, and took your duties very seriously. You had been Ambrosia’s Maid of Honor for her wedding only at the Spring Equinox and today was the Summer Solstice. And you were giddy to see that more than just fae were there that day.

Since the convergence, fae had to divide from the usual Seelie or UnSeelie to encompass more and more. It wasn’t just Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter anymore. There was just too much for only one court oversee. And with the convergence soon there were more and more magical beings could enter and exit the various magical realm.

Prince Matae from the Moura-Fae court held at Suchi was here with his wife, Meilira. One of the new members of the mouras invited to be in the fae courts since they were dual beings that could pass from the purely physical world into the purely magical one and everywhere in between.

But everyone in every court was here today. Because Crown Princess Ambrosia was Crown Princess to the Northern Hemisphere of the High World. Which for the Supersphere, there was two hemisphere’s a northern and a southern one. Both for the High World, The Middle World, and then there was the core.

Crown Princess Ambrosia had married a moura-fae hybrid, his name was Ruviem. And while it was true that many of the moura had married into the fae and vice versa and the hybrids were somehow the best of both worlds. And were even more powerful than their pure fae or pure moura counterparts. But he had been born a commoner in Suchi. Which is why many had turned their noses up at him, at first anyway.

But Princess Ambrosia had snuck out of the solstice and equinox festivals to party with the mouras at their various colonies. Where fae were always welcome and always allowed to come and go as they please. And marinai was shockingly similar to a fae’s mother tongue, but actually, usually much prettier.

And she had danced at the festivals with her now husband for two consecutive years. But you knew that they had practically fallen in love with each other the first time they got to dance together. And once Ambrosia had met him. No other would do. And she loved him and only him and since so many moura and moura-fae hybrids had been welcomed into the fae circles of all the courts. It wasn’t hard for him to come to her realm. And while he had to court her the traditional fae way, as per custom and tradition as it demanded.

Ruviem however, had one very special quality. He did not turn things into moura gold, which was normal for mouras. Most moura-fae hybrids could actually turn said moura gold into platinum. But Ruviem? He was descended from the first Electrum Moura. And so he turned any other metals into electrum, not just any white gold, that electrum could also be known as. No, this electrum was completely unique. Electrum that could have magnetism. Keep an electrical charge. Serve as a battery. Or even serve as a light source all by itself and glowed. Like lightning lit up a cloud from within. Ruviem had hand crafted the most amazing and exquisite engagement ring for Ambrosia. Which was the single most precious possession she had, besides his love. Because he taken true gold. And turned it into electrum and then styled it to suit just her, all around a glowing opal benar. Something only electrum mouras could make. The thought of living without her had pushed him to cry it out himself and he had used it to make his engagement ring. One that when she put it on. She could always touch it and feel just how much he loved her. And how much he would be absolutely lost without her.

He didn’t care if she was a princess, a fae, a moura, or even if she was any other kind of being. His soul saw hers, and had said yes. And so had hers.

So despite, the protest, Ambrosia was ready and willing to forgo her crown and her kingdom if it meant she could live with her love. So the old King and Queen gave in. And accepted her choice. Because otherwise the court would have to disband and a new dynasty would have to take it over and their own possessive pride forbade that from happening. So they basically had to throw out the rulebook and amend it and enact new laws to allow moura-fae hybrids and mouras alike into the courts as peers. And once he got that and was made a Gentleman of the Court. Then she could quickly claim him as her husband so that she technically followed the rule of selecting from her “peerage”.

But for now, you and the others had a job to do as you looked to all the others who gave you the nod that they were ready.

“We are ready Your Majesty. Let’s make you the greatest Queen Regent this court has ever seen.” You answered her which got her and the others to snicker a laugh as she reached back to grasp your free hand and give it a reassuring squeeze.

“Agreed. Let’s do this and kick some entitled ass doing it.” Crown Princess Ambrosia insisted which got another round of laughter before you all quieted down as the doors were finally opened to reveal her as she exited the room to see everyone lining both sides of the aisle as she left the room she was being prepared from to meet her husband and future King Consort Ruviem. Since he was getting ready in the other half of the room. Since it was divided to keep the two separate as they got ready, but now, the dividers were being pulled back to reveal the the two halves of the whole room as they walked the short distance to each other.

They joined hands and smiled so happily at each other before the two turned to walk towards the thrones where Ambrosia’s parents were seated as you could see their own pride practically bursting at the seams.

After all this time of raising her and grooming her for this moment. It was finally here. And while her husband was not someone they had ever imagined, every day, they grew more and more fondness and understanding that her husband, was who she needed- in order to rule their realm, their kingdom, their dynasty, their legacy.

Once Ambrosia and Ruviem got to the stairs, the old King and Queen stood and walked to the stands where Ambrosia’s Queen Regent Crown was sitting atop a plush pillow, to disguise the framework of the stand built into the cushion to support the quite heavy crown on. And where Ruviem’s King Consort Crown simply rested on the other.

“May the Renewal of The Thrones Commence!” The Court Sage said.

“I, King Pietaire, having ruled this court for 150 years. Do recognize that my time for ruling it as King Regent, has passed. And do declare my decent from the Throne.” King Pietaire announced before he took the crown off of his own head and put it on the pillow next to Ruviem’s crown.

“And I recognize, Crown Prince Ruviem as my rightful successor as King Consort.” King Pietaire finished with a brave face, but a proud smile all the same as his lips quivered, ever so slightly as his voice was filled with pride, affection and emotion as Ambrosia turned to her father and got misty eyed herself.

“So I hereby anoint and appoint you, Crown Prince Ruviem, as King Consort of the Kingdom.” He said as he picked up Ruviem’s King Consort Crown, and put it on Ruviem’s head as Ruviem knelt to accept the crown onto his head.

“I, King Consort Ruviem do accept this Crown and this Kingdom from you. And hereby appoint you as Dowager King. Long Live The King.” Ruviem replied as he took the Dowager King Crown from it’s cushion and put it atop his father in law’s head.

“Long live The King! Long live The King! Long live The King!” The entire court chanted in unison so loud, it was practically like booming of the thunder itself.

“I, Queen Kallefae, Queen Consort of this Kingdom, having ruled beside my King for 150 years. Do also recognize that my time for ruling it, as Queen Consort, has passed. And I do declare my decent from the Throne.” Queen Kallefae announced proudly as the smallest but brightest and happiest and proudest of tears escaped the corners of her eyes as she did so as Ambrosia actually had to use a handkerchief to dab at her eyes. She never thought that she would feel this emotional about this.

“I recognize, as my successor, Crown Princess Ambrosia. And I hereby appoint and anoint, my one and only precious daughter, my Pride, my Joy, my Confidence, my Hope, my Faith, my Future- and most of all, My Beloved Ambrosia, as my successor to the Throne and the Kingdom to which it presides over. And do recognize her as Queen Regent Ambrosia of this realm.” Queen Kallefae said, her voice so thick with emotion, her tears now running down her cheeks, but her smile, ever as brilliant, ever as proud, and loving and affectionate as it ever could have been as Ambrosia herself was now crying, as were you and your ladies as all of you had one hand on her train and one hand on your handkerchiefs dabbing your eyes so that the tears would not ruin your makeup as it seemed many of the others in the court were doing the same. Queen Kallefae didn’t need to add all of that. But Ambrosia, definitely needed to hear it.

Queen Kallefae took her Queen Consort Crown off of her head and put it on it’s designated pillow and put her daughter’s Queen Regent Crown atop Ambrosia’s head, granted with much more magical help than anything because, the Queen feared her arms would come right out of their sockets should they try to pick up the heavy thing as you watched with baited breath as the Queen’s magic placed it perfectly on Ambrosia’s head where a special support was pinned into the ring of hair around where the crown was supposed to rest as the crown settled but stayed right where it was supposed to be on her head.

Ambrosia closed her eyes, her tears making a little river down her cheeks as her smile was ever so serene before she opened them and then stood to her full height.

“And I, Queen Regent Ambrosia, do accept this Crown and the Kingdom to which it rules over from your ever loving and guiding hands.” Ambrosia began before she reached for the Dowager Queen Crown.

“And I hereby appoint you, as Dowager Queen. The best, most beloved- Dowager Queen. Long live the Queen!” Ambrosia announced as she put the Dowager Queen Crown on her mother’s head before kissing her mother’s cheeks before she received a third kiss to her forehead from her mother as the two held hands so tightly, you would think that they were each holding onto their own lifelines before Ambrosia broke with tradition and outright hugged her mother as you had to use your own magic to make sure Ambrosia’s new heavy crown didn’t fall as Philimena, the second Premier Attendant De Honorhe did the same for the Dowager Queen’s Crown before the King himself broke with tradition and hugged his wife and daughter while he pulled Ruviem into the family hug.

“Crown, crown, crown, don’t let the crown’s fall from their heads!” You whispered to the King’s Attendants in a panicked whisper as you saw the crowns begin to slip while they practically scrambled to do the same with their own magic.

“Shit, shit, shit,” you heard the King Ruviem’s Attendants whisper under their breaths as they did the same.

“Long live The Queen! Long live The Queen! Long live The Queen!” The court echoed.

“Love live The Royal Family!” Ambrosia practically cackled from between her parents and her husband.

“Long live the Royal Family! Long live the Royal Family! Long live the Royal Family!” The court echoed before dissolving into thunderous applause and cheering and rejoicing.

They pulled apart, all of them wiping the tears from each other’s eyes and smiling so happily at each other before the Dowager King took Ruviem’s arm on one side, while the Dowager Queen took Ambrosia’s other arm while Ambrosia and Ruviem still held hands as they ascended the steps to the thrones while you and your other Ladies got Ambrosia’s train ready and off to the side so that she and Ruviem could sit down at the same time onto the their thrones as the Dowager Queen and Dowager King stood aside and then slowly descended the steps to their seats at the bottom of the steps while you and your fellow Ladies got Ambrosia’s train to lay just so, as it was supposed to lay.

The hall was dazzling, the gowns were gorgeous. The crowns were sparkling. Everything shimmered, sparkled and glowed. But you still couldn’t get over the way the Imperial Queen Regent Crown who had been created for the first Queen Regent over a millenia ago. But had recently been refurbished and re-embellished so that while it was practically a new crown, between all the new gemstones and replacing gold where there had once been silver, platinum where there had once been gold and now electrum. A metal that glowed like sunshine and lightning itself was atop her head. Granted it had to be cushioned quite heavily for the new Queen to wear it comfortably. And while you knew it was quite hefty. She wore it as if it weighed no more than the hair of her head.

And while the King Consort’s crown was not as lavish or extravagant, but he wore it with pride. And while he was not wild about being a Prince Consort, let alone King Consort, he understood that his wife wanted him to rule beside her. And that together, they were balanced and could keep a peaceful harmony, not just with each other, but with the kingdom as a whole. And you were were so proud of the Queen for realizing that- that she was better off asking for and accepting help, but that she didn’t need to do everything all by herself, or bear all of her heavy burdens by herself. But could find relief in sharing said burdens and make them more manageable instead of being crushed by them.

You had spent your lifetime watching as your friend, fought tooth and nail to marry the love of her life, Ruviem, who, while he was an exceptionally gifted and talented moura-fae, was still born a commoner and their battle and path to this moment had been long, hard but well worth it. Because here she was, Crowned Queen Regent. And she got her love to not just be Prince Consort, but King Consort. Which you were sure was the Queen’s greatest achievement thus far. Her first of many triumphs, you were sure.

It’s what put the fairy in fairy tales, or fae in faery tales perhaps. Because she was living proof that love could conquer all.

You sighed dreamily as you helped put her long train into position so that it laid perfectly as she took the throne.

“You look so beautiful, Your Majesty.” You whispered to her as you draped it and kissed the fringe of her train reverently, so humbled that she chose you to do such an important role before taking your place beside her so that she and her husband and king could alight the whole court with their magic and glory.

You counted yourself as one of the luckiest women in the courtroom, besides the Queen herself. Firstly, for the immense privilege she had bestowed unto you for continuing to keep you as close of a friend as she had despite your roles. The fact that you could help her become the Queen you always knew she could be. And to have the honor of being her Right Hand Premiere Maiden of Honor for her coronation was an honor you would cherish for the rest of your life.

Soon, it was like the sun itself was born in the court. As every corner that had begun to go dark and dim with the waning of the old King and Queen as they aged out of their reign began to wane from their lessoning magic with age and use.

There were details that you never knew were there. Special crown molding where the ceiling met the walls. And around the pictures of kings and queens of old. Both on their coronation, and when they left the thrones.

It was always amazing to you how much so little time could age people, even the fae and fairy alike. But that came with the position you supposed.

Your friend, who was now Queen Regent, you had known, all your life. You had grown up together. Being a friend of hers, meant that you got to see how she was groomed, educated and prepared to bear the crown herself which in turn meant that you got the same education she did so that you could serve on her council should she ever seek it. You were proud when she learned how to follow her instincts and keep traditions alive while not being chained by them. Especially when the world was constantly changing and what proved true to one generation and one reign could be disastrous and prove to be the downfall of the next. But you knew her, much better than most got the pleasure to She had a good head on her shoulders and would rule with kindness, mercy, justice and fairness. Instead of leaning on old traditions to plot every day and every week- years in advance.

She smiled and crinkled her nose at you in response. The way she always did when you made such gestures both in private and in public.

“So do you.” She whispered as she leaned towards you slightly before sitting up more straight again.

“Not as beautiful as you do…” You practically sang in a soft murmur as you stood next to her as you two shared a happy and bright smile before the whole hall then the castle, then the kingdom was alight anew.

“Mmmhmm.” She hummed before she turned to her husband and smiled so brightly and lovingly and adoringly at him as he did the same to her.

Then your eyes traveled up from them before you caught the eye of one of the King’s attendants and he offered you a hopeful smile before you smiled politely back before you averted your gaze from him. Because the smile he gave you was that ‘at last we meet again’ kind of smile and you could not remember meeting him before, at least formally. Which was an embarrassment. Because you were supposed to know who everyone in this court was. But you looked down the line of his attendants and you could only vaguely remember seeing them around the castle as if they were some of the aging master’s apprentices. But none of them were looking at you the way he was. Mostly because all the others were more focused on smiling for the portrait that was just now beginning to be created before you turned to face the master painters as they magically made a portrait to capture the moment.

“It’s about time you noticed, he’s been trying to catch your eye for this whole ceremony.” Your friend, and fellow Lady in Waiting, Philimena murmured over to you as she plastered a pleasant smile on her face as you did the same for the royal portrait that was still being created.

“Seriously?” You asked through your smile.

“Oh Hun, it’s a miracle he didn’t trip over his own feet, let alone the King’s train the moment he saw you walk out with the Queen. And had you been on the inside of the train, he’d been chatting you up the whole walk down the aisle. It’s a wonder he could keep King Consort Ruviem’s crown on his head, because he was too distracted by you.” She murmured back.

“You don’t think…?” You began to ask because there was a long standing “tradition” that many of the Queen’s Attendants usually fell in love at her coronation with her King’s Attendants and got married, if not at their wedding, then definitely at their coronation before she gave you a meaningful look beyond her smile.

“Oh, well, what do you know about him? Because I don’t know him.” You asked your friend.

“How about you ask him yourself after the Ceremony, Dearest.” The Queen interrupted.

“Sorry, Your Majesty.” You apologized.

“Don’t apologize, just talk to him. And find out who he is on your own. And let him show you who and what he is.” The Queen sagely suggested.

“Like you did with your King, Your Majesty.” You recalled with a fond smile at the memories of their long and quite complicated relationship, but every bit was worth it in just this moment you were pretty sure.

“Exactly.” She beamed happily.

After the ceremony and the portrait was finished, everyone applauded as it was then magically framed and put up onto the walls, right behind the thrones themselves. You walked her train back to the private preparation room this time, right beside the young man as you simply kept your eyes forward on the back of Queen Ambrosia’s head to make sure that crown didn’t move from it’s place on her head as you could feel him still spare you several glances as you were to anxious about the crowns not slipping from the newly enthroned King and Queen to give any back. However as anxious as you were, a calm and serene smile never left your features, despite your focus narrowing on nothing but the Queen and King’s heads. Besides, this was the last moment for you to be distracted in your duties now. The ceremony was nearly complete and now the process of preparing the regalia to go back into storage would start the moment the doors would close. You were nearly there.

The doors opened and you and the others walked the King and Queen into the room before the doors closed behind you and once they did, all of you blew out a collective breath of relief that you had succeeded in getting through the ceremony.

25 January 2023: King Abdullah II was briefed on the government’s programme to implement the Economic Modernisation Vision in the industry, labour, and tourism sectors, within a specific timeframe.

During a meeting attended by Crown Prince Hussein, King Abdullah stressed the importance of working to ensure the projects under the vision are implemented successfully by having the required tools, qualified human resources, and funding.

His Majesty urged identifying the roles and responsibilities of each employee at the relevant ministries, and tying performance assessments to project implementation. (Source: Petra)

The King also called for keeping the public informed on the progress of implementing the economic vision, in order to maintain transparency and accountability. His Majesty said the delivery unit at the Prime Ministry must follow up with each ministry on progress in implementation and check for any delays or inconsistencies. Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh gave a briefing on the monthly programme of priorities for the concerned ministries, noting that nine ministries so far have identified these priorities and the projects that fall under them within the Economic Modernisation Vision. The prime minister noted that work is underway to set up an electronic system to monitor delivery and execution, submitting monthly and quarterly reports on progress. Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply and Minister of Labour Yousef Shamali, and Tourism Minister Makram Queisi gave a briefing on their ministries’ programmes and tasks within the economic vision. Shamali said the industry and labour ministries’ priorities include building and developing a centre for exhibitions, devising and implementing a national strategy for exports over the next two years, and preparing industry policies to focus on high-value sectors such as the textile and pharmaceutical industries. He also referred to plans to establish a technical training centre specialised in hybrid and electric vehicles, as well as heavy machinery. Queisi said the tourism ministry’s priorities within the economic vision include developing the tourism product and the historical narrative of archaeological sites, encouraging tourists to extend their stays, and streamlining measures for investors in the sector. The minister also pointed to plans to regulate adventure tourism, bolster cooperation with the Public Security Directorate to ensure tourists’ security and safeguard tourism sites, implementing promotional campaigns, and developing conference and medical tourism.

Aimee, Sweet Tooth

She was sick long before she left us, but that didn’t make it sting any less. While Aimee and Big Man worked to free the children, the virus wreaked havoc on her health. Despite knowing she would die, she still refused to take any treatment made from hybrid blood. There may have been heaps of tears — on screen and in our living rooms — but Aimee Eden undoubtedly died a hero.

Alex Forrest, Fatal Attraction

You could note that the character wasn’t just a psycho but a killer, so who cared if she got murdered? You could also argue that Paramount+’s adaptation of the thriller wasn’t good enough to get all worked up over. But the way Lizzy Caplan played Alex, you still kinda had to feel for her when the threat that she posed was… eliminated.

Bill and Frank, The Last of Us

The fact that we’d watched the entirety of curmudgeonly Bill and optimistic Frank’s love story play out against all odds — and a zombie apocalypse — made their loss that much more acute. So when Frank decided he no longer wanted to live with an advancing degenerative condition, Bill didn’t want to stick around, either. Some dosed Beaujolais and a letter to Joel later, they were headed to that great strawberry patch in the sky.

Billy, All American

The loss of All American‘s beloved father figure was a complete surprise to viewers, who came to learn that Billy had died while trying to evacuate his players from a bus that had crashed and overturned on the edge of a cliff. We’re not sure it would have hurt any less to know about Taye Diggs’ exit in advance, but Billy’s sudden demise — and the profound effect it had on every other character — remains one of this year’s biggest heartaches.

Borgnine, The Young and the Restless

Goodbye, kitty. If fans of the soap weren’t already out for Cameron’s blood when Sharon’s long-ago tormentor dared to show his face again in Genoa City, they sure as s—t were after he amped up his renewed terror campaign by making his first victim her daughter Faith’s innocent cat.

Charlie, Fear the Walking Dead

After surviving not only the zombie apocalypse but radiation poisoning and a lotta godawful writing, the young woman we watched grow up before our eyes died by suicide in order to… Lord, this just makes it even more tragic. She killed herself to keep Madison from revealing to resurrected baddie Troy the location of the much-ballyhooed PADRE island.

Charlie 1, NCIS: Hawai'i

“Jane Tennant, I came all the way here to keep you safe, and that is exactly what I am going t—.” With a bullet, Charlie 1’s arrival in Venezuela to watch Jane’s six was cut short by a vengeful Adrian Creel. And while we’d like to hope that the enigmatic operator somehow survived and is playing dead, that shot to the head looked pretty decisive.

Colton, The Way Home

We’ve seen enough time-travel shows to know that Kat wouldn’t be able to prevent her father’s death – but to find out that her trip to the past caused Colton’s fatal accident? Crushing! To make the scene even more heartbreaking, future Kat (an emotionally devastating Chyler Leigh) then cradled her father’s body in her arms as he passed away (shortly after recognizing his grownup daughter?!).

Derek, Teen Wolf: The Movie

First of all, Tyler Hoechlin is just a really nice guy, so you never want to see one of his characters die. But it hurts even more when that character is a beloved anchor (so to speak) of a franchise. Even though Derek sacrificed himself to save everyone, and besides the fact that his teenage son watched helplessly as he met his tragic demise, the most heartbreaking part was seeing Derek’s eyes change color in his final moments. (Eye color is a big deal in the Teen Wolf universe, but we don’t have time to explain it. If you know, you know.)

Erin, Sex Education

Despite Erin’s best efforts to stay clean, Maeve’s mom still sadly succumbed to her drug addiction. While her demise happened off screen, it killed us to see Maeve dealing with loss at such a young age. The fact that their relationship was so rocky made it that much harder on the poor girl as she struggled to find the right words and deliver a proper eulogy.

Felipe, Mayans MC

Choosing just one casualty from Mayans‘ bloodbath of a final season was no easy task, but Felipe’s demise in the penultimate episode was a true stunner. We’d hoped, so badly, that Felipe would come out of the Mayans/Sons of Anarchy war unscathed, but he ultimately suffered a gunshot wound to the stomach after some of the Sons broke into his house. Even more upsetting? The men were looking not for Felipe, but Angel, who wasn’t home at the time of the attack.

Gabriel Reyes, 9-1-1: Lone Star

No amount of dramatic foreshadowing could have prepared us for the murder of Carlos’ father in the Fox procedural’s fourth season. We can still hear Carlos’ mother screaming in terror as her husband lay bleeding out in the doorway of their home from a gunshot wound, just as we can still feel Carlos’ rage at the monsters responsible for the killing of a Texas Ranger. Maybe it’s a good thing that Lone Starisn’t coming back until the fall — we still nee time to recover.

Gary, A Million Little Things

When Gary’s cancer advanced so far that he was no longer able to speak, he let his friends know he wanted to die with dignity. So Rome and Eddie procured the necessary drugs, everyone said their (understandably weepy) goodbyes, and then Maggie — and Colin, poor pup — snuggled up to Gary in bed as fell into a deep sleep. The last thing Gary heard? Maggie’s tearful assurances that she and their son, Javi, would be OK after he was gone.

Jerome, Snowfall

When Jerome saw how the drugs and money tore his family apart and decided he wanted out, we hoped that he would live long enough to see that freedom. However, his life was cut tragically short while rescuing Louie, who’d been abducted and tortured. As his wife sobbed over his body, Jerome’s earlier question felt even more poignant: Was it all worth this?

Lenore, The Fall of the House of Usher

Of all of the people in Roderick Usher’s family, innocent Lenore was the least deserving of a death sentence. But bloodline curses don’t leave much room for loopholes. So once all of Roderick’s scummy kids had kicked the bucket, it was little Lenore’s time to go. At least Verna had the good grace to feel bad, ending the girl’s life with a single, gentle touch.

Logan, Succession

He wasn’t exactly the cuddly grandpa type, so the demise of the bellowing Roy family patriarch played by Brian Cox didn’t hit our heartstrings in the traditional sense. But it was the shockingly abrupt nature of his death, with Logan suddenly collapsing on an overseas flight off-camera — an abruptness that felt painfully realistic — and the flood of wildly mixed emotions experienced by his children in the wake of his death that got the waterworks flowing. Logan Roy was larger than life, and the gaping void he left in his kids’ lives was just as massive.

Maria, Secret Invasion

We always hope that a Marvel TV series will have some sort of impact on the larger MCU, but seeing Maria gunned down in cold blood — and by a Skrull wearing Fury’s face at the time! — was NOT what we had in mind. R.I.P., Maria as well as Cobie Smulders’ 11-year MCU run.

Peter, The Great

Nicholas Hoult’s proudly crass and cruel ruler was not the most noble of nobility. (If there is a hell, he’s certainly headed there.) But we still loved watching his gleefully devilish antics — and his undeniable chemistry with Elle Fanning’s Catherine — so it came as a real gut-punch when Peter fell through frozen ice on a lake and died in Season 3’s sixth episode. It was an unceremonious ending for such a grandly entertaining character, and watching Catherine manically cycle through joy and grief in the episodes that followed only twisted the knife further.

Red, The Blacklist

Even when Red’s death started to feel inevitable during The Blacklist‘s run, we were still skeptical that anything could ever take down a man so formidable — until, of course, he encountered the bull that ultimately gored him in the series finale. Bizarre cause of death aside, we were legitimately bummed to see such a commanding character perish after 10 eventful years.

Rita and Cliff, Doom Patrol

The series finale of Max’s underrated DC drama claimed the lives of both April Bowlby’s Rita and Brendan Fraser’s Cliff, the latter of whom had a considerably more heartbreaking demise. (Whereas Rita was at least seen reuniting with her former lover in the afterlife, Cliff’s robot frame shut down after receiving a peek into the future and discovering that his grandson turns out to be the same womanizing piece of crap he once was himself.) Still, we love them equally and would have much preferred that they survived the show’s too-short run.

Ro, Star Trek: Picard

The final season of Paramount+’s Trek continuation was a treasure trove of nostalgia for Next Generation fans, but the coolest Easter egg of all was the return of Ro Laren, with the Bajoran lieutenant resolving her decades-old feud with Jean-Luc. We couldn’t enjoy her return for long, though, because she ultimately sacrificed her own life, piloting a shuttle carrying a bomb into another ship to allow Jean-Luc and his crew time to escape. It was tough to say goodbye, but we’re just happy we got to say hello to her again.

Susannah, The Summer I Turned Pretty

From the beginning of Season 2, we knew that Susannah had passed away, but that didn’t make watching her decline via flashbacks any easier. When she said her goodbyes to her surrogate daughter Belly in the finale, sharing some comforting relationship advice with her as they cried together in bed, Susannah’s importance in Belly’s life made her death all the more painful.
