about to make everyone reading this breakdown and cry:

yeah so its said that if a nightingale sings when you're confessing your love to someone it means they feel the same way towards you so when crowley said "no nightingales" he was saying "if you really loved me you wouldn't be doing this" he thinks that aziraphale isn't reciprocating (when he is actually, head over heels).

also apparently Crowley's confession was based on the BBC's pride and prejudice confession, the biggest difference being that there were birds singing throughout the whole of the pride and prejudice confession :)

crowley canonically said hey can you hear that? exactly there’s nothing. only the sound of silence that should be filled by the song of a bird that represents our love for each other. but it’s not singing today. because we are being separated and left with the unbearable heaviness of silence and the subsequent emptiness. yeah.

as part of the getting-worse-before-it-gets-better portion of aziraphale and crowley's season 3 relationship arc we NEED a desperate "i love you" from aziraphale met with a hissed, spiteful, and quickly regretted "i forgive you" from crowley

Hey, so are we gonna talk about how Aziraphale asking Crowely to join him in heaven is very reminiscent of Mr. Darcy's first proposal, ya know the "I love you against my better judgment" one?

Are we gonna talk about how after the first failed proposal, Darcy works on himself and learns that he loves Lizzie because of who she is, not in spite of it.

All I'm saying is Jane Austen (and specifically Pride and Prejudice) kept popping up a lot in this season, and I don't think it was just so they could have a ball.
