"Very few people know the true nature of the galaxy. That it is a prison, and all its inhabitants are prisoners and the reason for that—the reason is one word. It is the name of our fear. It is the name of our chains. That word is Sith." - Qi'ra

ugh one of the most tragic things about Order 66 and the Jedi Purge is the erasure of all that history by the Empire and by time. More than just history, it's the erasure of culture, the purposeful cleansing of the Jedi ways and people from the Galaxy. All these stories and people were lost, not to time, but by the intentional extinction of everything they ever were. In Crimson Reign #3, The Archivist (written by Charles Soule) puts it in a way that genuinely struck me when I was reading it.

You don't have to read all that, but I feel like it drives the point across wonderfully. The Jedi Order not only died because of Order 66 and the Purge, but the very idea of it was also made into a death sentence. Each Jedi's life, before the Empire, was preserved through the seemingly eternal memory of the Order, the Jedi Archives, or their lineage, and those who took their path. The Empire erased any trace of that memory, collapsing the tradition of millennia. As a Jedi, you are almost ensured to be remembered, and your actions are certain to have echoes throughout the ages. The Empire, and more specifically Palpatine I should probably say, did everything to take it away. What's left of The High Republic? What's left of the heroics of generations of Jedi? What's left of their life stories? Their meditation or lightsaber techniques? It's the tragedy of the Jedi order, and it goes so much deeper than the awful loss of about 10,000 Jedi during Order 66 and the purge (not that that should be underestimated).

The whole Crimson Reign/Hidden Empire is one of those things that wildly changes the way I view pre-existing parts of the canon, in a way that makes me cackle (complimentary). Like, Maul was trying to recruit Ezra to shape him into a weapon against Palpatine in a tragic echo of what Palpatine did to him... but also Maul spent nearly two decades building a criminal Empire in order to strike at the man who enslaved him, only to jack it all in for KENOBIIIII and leave his lieutenants with no idea where he'd gone for good measure

Man , "Crimson Reign" is pretty well written and characterised some smaller Disney-era characters nicely but gosh-dang if it isn't literally five issues of set up for the real payoff of "Hidden Empire".

Sal's Favorite 2022 Star Wars Moments!
In no particular order here are Sal's stand-out 2022 moments!
It’s been a year! There was so much wonderful Star Wars we got to experience this year, some strongly anticipated and some unexpected treats! In no particular order here are some stand-out moments for me this year! Cruising the Stars on the Halcyon! Being invited to the Halcyon was one heck of an adventure! I had some of the best food I’ve ever eaten and experienced things that I’ve been…

Okay im a stupid idiot and forgot i ended that reading thread. lets do our first post on crimson reign yall 😭
Tumblr media
Can I just say how insane it is for me to do my first update for this book 61% of the way through and 14 days into me starting it????? In my defense, I thought I had a reading thread going for it.
For the first 40% of this book, I found the authors writing style incredibly annoying and repetitive. It got so bad at one point I almost put this book on pause so I could read Shadowhunters. As a forewarning, the next few images are excerpts from the book and may contain spoilers. However, nothing else beyond the photos will contain spoilers <3

(these photos can also be found on my pinterest)
It's almost as if Amelie forgot that she can write sorta kinda well until 45% of the way through and then once we got the big battle sequence, she forgot how to write again.
Except for one character. Ko Linnet is written especially well across all the novels while most of the other characters annoy me. Most of the other characters are too wishy washy, their evil arc too corny, their redemption arc too soon. Not my sweet Linn. I love her.
That's all for now. I'll try and update again tomorrow, if I read. xx
was going to do a reading thread update for crimson reign but i cant find any of my other reading threads except for a little life and thunderbird ??????

Another theory to whose that random hand on Noob's belt belongs to:
Sareena!
She gifted it to Bi-Han so he can hold it whenever he needs moral support!😌❤️
Sometimes, she will tap his thigh to let him know she wants to hold hands! He obliges every time!🤭🖤

I bloody love Crimson Reign using a historian as its focal perspective and I absolutely fucking adore that the reader is made to feel her anger at the Empire obliterating history, or at least attempting it.
Because yes, that's a pretty abstract crime, but it has always cut me deep when people shrug it off both in-universe and within the fandom.
