Crassula perfoliata var. falcata (Propeller plant)
Such a stunning succulent! The flowers are just out of this world, not just the bright colors, but the texture and shape.
Do you grow this baby?
As with many succulents, they like lots of sun and love to let their soil dry in between watering sessions. Mine are potted on the ground and get full sun and foggy mornings & evenings.

Went To Take Photos, Brought Home 5 Plants…
New plants from Wagler’s Greenhouse. Hello everyone! I hope this post finds you well. I haven’t posted for a while because I really haven’t had much to talk about lately. The weather has been nice but very windy. I was finally able to clean up some of the limbs and brush in the yard last week. Now the yard needs mowed already. The last time I went to Wagler’s her Schlumbergera gaertneri (Easter…

Crassula perfoliata var. falcata
This beautiful South African plant is commonly known simply as Crassula falcata, but it belongs to a group first named as Crassula perfoliata. Some authorities prefer to keep “falcata” as the name for this variety, while others feel it should be merged into Crassula perfoliata var. minor. Under any name, its bluish propeller-blade leaves and bright scarlet flowers make it a garden stand-out. From South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province.

Crassula ‘Moonglow’
This delightful little plant is the result of a cross between the small Crassula deceptor (with stacking leaves) and the much larger Crassula perfoliata var. minor (more commonly known as Crassula falcata, with grey sickle-shaped leaves). While the hybrid is quite appealing, it is unfortunate that it did not inherit the brilliant scarlet flowers of C. falcata. Both parents are native to South Africa.

Crassula perfoliata var. minor
Crassula perfoliata is the type species of the genus Crassula (that is, the first species to be described, by Linnaeus in 1753). It is very variable, and has several varieties. One of these is the widely-grown var. falcata (frequently seen labeled simply Crassula falcata), and the var. minor is very close to this - sometimes the two varieties are united under the name C. perfoliata var. minor. In any case, the vivid red flowers in summer are a treat.
