Apart from being the Crown Prince of the Woodland Realm, Mirion Thranduilion is best remembered in his realm’s history for two things: his ferocity and devotedness as Protector of the Realm, and his skill as a master bladesmith.
With talent unmatched by any other Elven weaponsmith remaining in the Third Age, Mirion designed and personally crafted armor and weaponry for the soldiers of the Woodland Realm. His first-hand practical knowledge of armed combat (aided further by the battle expertise of his father) gave him an elevated understanding of how to design weapons that were both functional and efficient while still being beautiful works of art.
Although Thranduil’s sword is the most recognizable weapon in the history of the Woodland Realm, Mirion’s personal sword would be judged the strongest blade. Both were designed and made by the Crown Prince, and although they were forged from the same rare material, they were two very different swords crafted for different purposes and fighting styles.
On one hand, Thranduil’s sword is lighter, more beautiful and elegant, and made for speed and single-handed wielding.
On the other hand, here are SotWK AU headcanons regarding…
Gwaedhang: the greatsword of the Crown Prince of the Woodland Realm
Mirion’s sword was named Gwaedhang, Sindarin for “Iron Oath”.
It is 78 inches (198 cm) long--just 2 inches shorter than Legolas!
It weighs 10 pounds (4.5 kg), which is extremely heavy for a combat blade.
In contrast to all the other weapons he made, Mirion kept the design of Gwaedhang’s blade simple, bearing only an inscription--his personal oath to his people, written in Silvan: “Until my last breath, I will serve.”
Gwaedhang’s black-blue steel blade was made from a very rare ore sourced from the deepest mines of Khazad-dûm a thousand years before its fall.
It was forged in Khazad-dûm by Mirion in TA 1035, in collaboration with the best dwarf-smiths and King Durin V himself.
The greatsword took nearly five years to complete.
It draws its power from the union of Elven and Dwarven knowledge, the strength of the unique black alloy developed from the rare ore, and Mirion’s Noldorin “magic”--supernatural crafting abilities that he was born with, and that grew under the guidance of his mother.
Gwaedhang is sharp and strong enough to slash through virtually any substance without being damaged or losing its edge. Although never tested, it is also believed able to withstand the most extreme heat, including dragonfire. It is considered indestructible.
Gwaedhang is so large, heavy and dangerous, only three people ever wielded it in combat: Mirion, Thranduil, and Turhir. Mirion alone had both the strength and sufficient practice to use it single-handed on the battlefield. (And yes, the fact that the sword is named “Oath” also symbolizes the weight of the oath of duty Mirion took upon his shoulders.)
When Mirion fought with Gwaedhang, he was known to effortlessly cleave in half grown spiders and monsters with one stroke, and behead a line of orcs in a single swing.
Upon Mirion’s death, the sword became a treasured heirloom of the realm. It is displayed publicly as part of a memorial statue honoring the late prince, and the Elves of the realm continue to come there to pay their respects.

Blood type: A-
Weight: 162 lbs. (73.48 cm)
Design: He's a 5' 7" (170.18 cm) Italian-American ectomorph with an average musculature, broad shoulders, ivory skin, a cleft chin, and dull turquoise eyes. Marco sports wavy strawberry blonde hair, characterised by a large forelock that falls to the tip of his nose on the right side. On the left, two short, thick strands with subtle waves curve gracefully above his eyebrow. His features are further accentuated by well-groomed sideburns and a neatly trimmed chinstrap beard.
He bears occasional dark circles under his eyes and a distinctive glass left eye in a lighter turquoise hue. He has accumulated several battle scars: a few stab wounds on his right shoulder; vertical cuts on his chest; a deep slice mark extending from the left side of his nose bridge to the back of his trapezius muscle; multiple lacerations and severe burns on his back; a large patch of scar tissue on his right lumbar region; and bullet wounds on both calves and one on his left thigh. To cope with his emotional pain, he has a history of self-harm, which has resulted in the horizontal scars visible on his right forearm, hips, and inner thighs.
He's well-known for his cutting-edge, cybernetic left arm crafted from sleek, high-strength metallic alloys and advanced, artificially intelligent flexi-circuits, allowing for enhanced strength, agility, dexterity, and precision. It also has micro-sensors and neural interfaces seamlessly integrating with Marco’s nervous system for intuitive control. It possesses a high-strength, serrated blade made of tungsten, capable of extending up to 12 inches (30.48 cm) from the forearm. It can temporarily deploy an energy shield that surrounds him, providing protection from incoming attacks. This shield is powered by advanced capacitors and optimised for maximum efficiency using AI technology.
Marco's military gear consists of a white headband, a metal dog tag necklace with his name, and a platinum grey sleeveless shirt. He wears a crimson vest with four pockets and an embroidered logo of the P.F. Squad on the back, alongside khaki-green army cargo pants tucked into his olive green paratrooper boots. He also wears a leather belt with a snap-on silver buckle, mahogany gloves, a sheath for his combat knife, and a gun holster for his trusty handgun. The pockets of Marco's army cargo pants carry two boxes of cigars, while his vest contains a gilded lighter he found in Gerhardt City, a black case for his garnet-hued reading glasses, and an old photograph of pre-teen him, his father, and his childhood cat on a leash at a park during autumn.
Over his shirt, he wears a Soldier Plate Carrier System (SPCS) with a MultiCam pattern, which carries his walkie-talkie and ammo for other firearms. His right forearm is wrapped in worn gauze, and he wears two black bandoliers that form an X-shape, holding bullets for his handgun. Marco carries a khaki-green load-bearing backpack containing camping equipment, tactical explosives, portable ammo boxes, a canteen full of water, a Gatling shot, and a thunder shot. He's always carrying around a red-orange laptop adorned with a bronze circle on the lid, housing a black six-pointed star at its centre. This custom laptop serves as his mobile command centre, where he develops malware to breach enemy cybersecurity, tackles various classified technological assignments for the military, and works on personal software projects.
He wears his father's circular, gilded watch on his right wrist, using it to check the time as a reminder of his father's enduring presence and an opportunity to seek guidance from the past. The timepiece features an ivory dial with burgundy hands and black Roman numerals from I to XII, interspersed with four thin etchings. Additional details include a secondary display bar showing the time and AM/PM indicator, while a leather strap is secured with a matching gold buckle.
Character summary: He's a charismatic and cautious leader who takes immense pride in his high intellect, computer expertise, and masculinity. He's a self-reliant introvert who prefers to accept help and emotional support from others when absolutely necessary. His stoic demeanour is a constant, making it challenging for him to show humour or vulnerability. Due to being a workaholic, he has developed a harmful habit of neglecting his own basic needs, including eating when necessary. He mainly struggles with loneliness because he finds it difficult to form meaningful connections due to his exceptionally high intellect, which can make it challenging for others who may not be able to keep up with his level of understanding. He also struggles with major depressive disorder, trust issues, a fear of abandonment, and unresolved trauma stemming from past experiences. While Marco tends to internalise his emotions, he has learned to open up to trusted individuals when his burdens become too overwhelming to bear alone.
Despite his gentle and taciturn nature, he's capable of being ruthless and will fly into a deep rage when General Morden's name is mentioned near him. When interrogating others, he employs a menacing tone, his aloof demeanour making those on the receiving end feel uneasy and intimidated. He doesn't hesitate to wield threats of violence or exploit vulnerabilities, and with Trevor by his side, his intimidation factor is amplified. He's a socially awkward loner who doesn't tolerate distractions and has a strong fear of losing his current friends.
When experiencing great distress in relation to past trauma, he's prone to having a full-blown mental breakdown and indulging in suicidal ideation. Marco tends to get stressed easily, which has led to him developing a chain-smoking habit. He occasionally struggles with self-harm and secretly binge drinks, consuming one or two packs of beer at a time, while hiding his alcoholism and suicidal tendencies from others.
He has a dry sense of humour that he rarely showcases, and when he does, his witty remarks often blend English and Italian. Having learned some Japanese from Tarma and Eri, he occasionally sprinkles Japanese phrases into his jokes. He deeply cares about his friends and will stop at nothing to protect them, even if it means putting his own life at risk. He finds great comfort in the presence of his best friend, Tarma, thanks to his breezy and optimistic attitude. Although he doesn't always show it, he genuinely enjoys Tarma's jokes and appreciates listening to them, even if they occasionally test his patience. Additionally, he cherishes his calico shorthair cat, Perifa, a heartwarming birthday gift he received from Fio prior to the Survival Island Occupation.
He’s in a polyamorous queerplatonic relationship with Fio and Tarma, a bond that satisfies his deep-seated longing for emotional intimacy. He’s close friends with Trevor, regularly mentoring him in computer skills like reading binary code and enjoying social time together, but their occasional marijuana use has raised concerns due to Marco's pre-existing unhealthy smoking habits. He holds Tequila in high esteem, recognizing his pivotal contributions to the success of the Regular Army and S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S. special forces unit. He deeply values his wisdom, open-mindedness, fatherly demeanour, and exceptional covert agent skills. He dislikes accompanying Nadia on shopping trips because her constant meddling and overly inquisitive nature frustrate him.
Having never experienced raising children, he had always doubted his ability to provide love and be a good parental figure, consumed as he was by his own interests and mental health issues. But everything changed on Christmas, in the aftermath of the Unforeseen Invader Conquest, when he adopted an abandoned baby girl with striking features: pinkish-orange hair streaked with pale blonde and bright teal eyes flecked with dark brown. With the guidance and support of his friends, he discovered valuable parenting skills and named his new daughter Midori. He transformed into a loving, supportive, and overprotective father, dedicated to ensuring her happiness and safety. He made it a point to offer wise advice, hoping to spare her from his own past mistakes.
He found immense joy in watching Midori form close bonds with his friends, affectionately regarding them as uncles, aunts, and grandparents. Her friendship with Pocke, Walter's adoptive son and a Martian infant, brought him equal delight. He was particularly grateful for the ways his friends nurtured Midori's passions: Tarma and Alisa encouraged her interest in engineering, while Walter and Trevor fostered her love of music. He can't imagine a world without his adoptive daughter, who has brought him a new sense of purpose and motivated him to overcome his personal hardships.
He often mistakes Sophia Greenville for his mother due to their similar appearance, and he's always embarrassed when he accidentally calls her "mom”. Nevertheless, he's deeply grateful for the maternal affection she shows him, treating him like a son and unknowingly becoming the kind of mother he wishes he had. He finds comfort in spending quality time with his cat, affectionately referred to as his "dramatic little princess”. He enjoys engaging in playtime, giving gentle pets, and even using soothing baby talk to calm his feline companion. He's easily offended by people who rudely insult cats, going as far as to comfort the insulted feline and silently glaring at the person who uttered such words.
Whenever he's had too much to drink, he starts to act rowdy, easy-going, overly affectionate, and clingy. When sexual activity is mentioned, he reacts with extreme discomfort as he finds it to be disgusting. He’ll either become nauseous or start gagging, displaying expressions of strong distaste towards the person discussing the topic. If he unexpectedly encounters someone engaging in sexual activity, he often experiences a panic attack, feeling lightheaded and overwhelmed. In such situations, he usually tries to seek comfort and support from a trusted individual to talk to and receive a reassuring hug. This experience may also trigger unpleasant thoughts related to sexual matters, leading him to fear that he's somehow perverted and disgusting. He'll only lose his temper with others if they say something extremely rude to him or his friends, intend to hurt his loved ones or tell him blatant lies. Although he tends to have a pessimistic outlook on life, he sometimes manages to see the brighter side of things.
He has a sleepwalking habit, often accompanied by vivid dreams of fighting or killing someone, which greatly annoys and frightens Tarma, who’s frequently the target of these nocturnal episodes. He resents being hailed as a war hero due to his intense aversion to fame and his conviction that conflict should prompt sombre reflection, not glorification. He dislikes flirtatious advances and has low tolerance for complaining, bullying or excessive talking, which can trigger irritability and extreme defensiveness. He feels uneasy with romantic inquiries and is secretly intimidated by Gimlet, whose rape threats, relentless verbal aggression, and frequent heated confrontations leave him on edge. He has a commanding presence that demands respect, and his consistently serious demeanour can make him seem intimidating and unapproachable to others.
He's incredibly introspective and prone to questioning the intentions of his friends and his own worthiness of having meaningful friendships. He defines his masculinity by embodying traits like physical strength, courage, independence, leadership, and assertiveness. However, he makes a conscious effort to avoid toxic masculinity by ensuring his behaviour doesn't harm others' feelings or self-worth. Despite this balanced approach, he admits to having some vanity regarding specific issues he considers unbefitting of his ideal masculinity, such as sagging pants and carrying toys, as he sees these as detrimental to personal dignity.
He's a consequentialist who believes that all life forms are more capable of destruction, ultimately prevailing the act of creation. He also believes that all conflicts are gradually moving towards the equitable unification and collective strength of humanity. In his perspective, it'll pave the way for a new era free from violence, hate, and political corruption.
Backstory: Marchrius Dennis Rossi was born on April 13, 2005 in Twin Falls, Idaho, United States. Marco's mother, Katalina, was a researcher for a secret government project, and his father, Salvatore Rossi, was stuck in a dead-end office job. His parents had a distant relationship and had Marco, hoping that a child would bring them closer together and fix their broken marriage, but they often ignored each other and argued. Katalina had never wanted Marco, viewing him as an unplanned consequence and a responsibility that hindered her career. His father provided unwavering support and care, while his mother was neglectful and emotionally absent, hiding her true behaviour behind closed doors. But despite this, Marco shocked his parents by exhibiting a fast-growing intelligence at a very young age.
From the moment he opened his eyes, he muttered his first word, "daddy". He learned how to walk at 3 months old and showed advanced motor skills by 5 and a half months. He skipped object permanence altogether and completed his first crossword puzzle at just 1 year old, astonishingly understanding political terms. By the age of 2, he had memorised all 50 U.S. states and read two books in their entirety, demonstrating a profound understanding of their documented subjects: moral philosophy and psychoanalysis. By 4, he was answering calculus-level questions and describing his feelings about endangered animals in zoos with sophisticated vocabulary.
From the age of 2, he would occasionally see a pair of glowing red eyes in darkened corners or places drenched in darkness. He described them as always watching him and swore that they belonged to a living, breathing creature that seamlessly blended into the darkness. When he turned 5, he created an imaginary friend as an excuse to enjoy his alone time and avoid befriending the children who frequented the local park. This imaginary friend was named "Jubby", and Marco often drew him, depicting him as an anthropomorphic snow leopard with golden eagle wings, Komodo dragon legs, and a face covered in a ball of black scribbles.
Before he turned 6, his neglectful mother, Katalina, grew fed up with how "weird" he was. She was also annoyed by his persistent fear of a glowing pair of red eyes that watched him occasionally and his uninterested attitude towards forming connections. While Salvatore was away from home, Katalina took matters into her own hands and packed her belongings. Before leaving, she noticed Marco standing before the basement door, which was wide open. She investigated and saw the same glowing pair of red eyes, which terrified her.
Believing that Marco was attracting an evil spirit, she pushed him down the basement stairs and locked the door, hoping to contain the perceived threat. Abandoning Marco, she left the house, leaving him absolutely terrified. Marco attempted to cope with the trauma by conjuring up Jubby, but he claimed that his imaginary friend never came to his aid. This painful realisation marked the day he began to harbour resentment towards his mother, feeling unappreciated, unloved, and viewed as a burdensome presence in her life. When Salvatore returned home and discovered that Marco was trapped in the basement by Katalina, he was infuriated. His father attempted to track down Katalina, but it was too late. This traumatic event instilled in him a lasting fear of heading down into dark basements alone.
During his time in grade 1, Marco struggled to make friends and often looked sad when he saw other children with their mothers, a concern his father noticed. To cheer him up, his father brought home a Turkish Angora with a black, orange, and white fur coat, which sparked Marco's love for felines. As a result of his childhood cat's fondness for eating bugs, he affectionately named her Grubley. At the age of five, his father introduced him to the world of computing, igniting a passion for computer science that would last a lifetime. Salvatore was always supportive of Marco and his passions, encouraging him to excel in school, chase his dreams, and make the most of the opportunities life has to offer.
Marco knew he had an uncle, but his father forbade him from seeing him. Salvatore had warned him that his uncle was untrustworthy due to his con artist lifestyle and struggled with alcoholism. However, he was permitted to visit his aunt and grandparents, who were incredibly kind. They encouraged him to appreciate nature and the simple things in life, rather than spending all his time on the computer. He has fond memories of his grandfather teaching him how to barbecue. His grandmother, an immigrant from Italy, taught him some Italian and often shared photographs she had taken in her home country before moving to the United States.
His father unknowingly sparked his interest in the Tuatha Dé Danann, an ancient race of demigods that existed before all life, and two antediluvian places, Atlantis and Ultima Thule. He would silently observe his father spend a short amount of time researching these fascinating topics when not working. Marco would eventually discover that he has a slight hint of Tuatha Dé Danann DNA, leading him to wonder if others might also have ancestral ties tracing back to the Hadean Eon.
He was bullied by many students for being perceived as "friendless" and for having an abnormally high intelligence, leaving him feeling isolated. A few students attempted to befriend him, but he rebuffed their efforts, fearing they would eventually abandon him. He also struggled to connect with them on an intellectual level, feeling like an outsider. During high school, he was involved in a few physical altercations, but he typically managed to defuse the situations with his words or, if necessary, defend himself relentlessly. In his spare time, he mastered the unconventional art of drunken-style boxing, giving him an edge in self-defence. Despite his school troubles, he excelled in all his classes and achieved outstanding grades in mathematics and computer science courses.
Before graduating from a state technical high school, Salvatore died due to health complications caused by Huntington's disease. Shortly after, Marco's beloved cat, Grubley, peacefully passed away in her sleep. Marco was devastated by these losses, compounded by the shocking revelation that his father had been secretly battling Huntington's disease without ever sharing his struggle with him. The last gift his father gave him was a red-orange laptop, which was intended to be a graduation present. Rather than letting the tragedy consume him, he transformed his grief into a driving force, cultivating resilience and independence. To move forward, he made the difficult decision to distance himself from his remaining family, seeking to leave the past behind and forge a new path.
He began developing artificial intelligence to engage in online debates and sophisticated computer software, including anti-viruses and error-checking tools, as a means to earn a living and hone his programming skills. He went so far as to meticulously rebuild and upgrade the desktop computer in his father's old office at home, enhancing both its design and performance. Marco decided to attend officer's school at the Academy of Special Technologies and subsequently joined the prestigious Peregrine Falcons Squad shortly after graduation.
Unlike many of his peers, he quickly distinguished himself through his exceptional leadership skills and computer expertise, earning him a spot as 1st Lieutenant of the P.F. Squad. This was also when he met Tarma, forming a fast friendship after discussing their interests, reminiscing on their childhoods, and having a couple of beers. Tarma was his first real friend, whom he holds dear, despite viewing him as a “maniacal gearhead”. Through his friendship with Tarma, he discovered the value of having friends and stepped out of his comfort zone to befriend the other members of the P.F. Squad and Regular Army. He would also gradually develop a queerplatonic relationship with Tarma as he deeply cherished their friendship and came to realise that it filled a void of emotional intimacy left by his father's passing.
During his time in the P.F. Squad, Marco created a computer virus for fun, which inadvertently spread to the Regular Army's mainframe server. The virus destroyed several security systems, compromised the lowest echelons of the Regular Army, and nearly triggered the launch of a nuclear missile. Fortunately, a military scout named Trevor, whom Marco would meet years later during his recruitment into the P.F. Squad, managed to stop it. Marco refuses to discuss this potentially disastrous incident, even after a few too many beers.
When the Amadeus Syndicate served as the scientific and medical branch of the Regular Army, Marco met Doctor Amadeus, the organisation's founder and Nadia's clone mother. They had a cordial relationship, and Doctor Amadeus was particularly impressed by Marco's exceptional computer skills. She wanted to utilise his talents for a bioengineering experiment, aiming to create super soldiers using abandoned Martian and Invader technology.
During a battle against a terrorist attack, Marco suffered severe injuries and was taken to one of the original Amadeus Syndicate's medical facilities to recover. Doctor Amadeus seized this opportunity to force herself upon him to collect semen and DNA samples, leaving him deeply traumatised. The experience was so distressing that Marco tried to suppress the memory, inadvertently forgetting much of the history and purpose of the Amadeus Syndicate in the process. He also swore his revenge to kill Doctor Amadeus one day for what she did to him. As a result of this event, he began to act strangely anxious and slightly aggressive when in a hospital or near Nadia for prolonged periods of time.
During the first coup led by General Morden, he scraped together the remnants of the Regular Army government forces to reassemble the P.F. Squad. He became the leader of the governmental resistance against General Morden but at a great cost. As he, his comrades, and his friends were approaching the last known base of the Rebel Army, disaster struck. General Morden and his soldiers ambushed them, seizing the opportunity to decimate the remnants of the P.F. Squad, leaving Marco with mental and physical scars that would haunt him forever.
Marco endured unimaginable suffering at the hands of General Morden, Allen O'Neil, and the Rebel soldiers, who brutally tortured him, gouged out his left eye, and severed his left arm. After experiencing a strange tingling sensation of familiarity, General Morden realised that Marco possessed Tuatha Dé Danann heritage. Intrigued, he discreetly collected DNA samples from Marco, which would later be utilised by the Amadeus Syndicate for experimentation in bioengineering and advanced military technology. The cruelty continued as Morden forced Marco to witness the slaughter and torture of his comrades and friends. Devastated by the losses and horrors he experienced, Marco teetered on the brink of giving up. He was even convinced that his best friend, Tarma, had perished, plunging him into a deep depression.
However, Tarma managed to escape the Rebel Army's clutches and staged a daring rescue, reuniting with Marco. With Tarma's emotional support and his own newfound rage, Marco found the strength to keep fighting. Before confronting General Morden, Tarma constructed his prosthetic left arm using technological debris and cutting-edge medical technology available to the Regular Army. However, it took him a couple of weeks to adapt to his new limb. Together, they became legendary heroes, ultimately defeating Morden and restoring world peace. Marco's bravery earned him the rank of Major, but he soon grew to resent his war hero status as he realised that the media often glorifies conflict.
Marco continued to lead the P.F. Squad together with Tarma, who is the true linchpin of the elite task force of the Regular Army. Marco joined forces with Tarma, Fio, and Eri for a second mission to thwart General Morden's second coup. Although the mission technically failed, as they captured a Martian troop from the Pipovulaj Army disguised as General Morden, the Regular Army's higher-ups deemed it a success nonetheless. This moment got on Marco's nerves as he deeply desired to see General Morden brought to justice and face the full consequences of his actions.
Following this success, Marco attempted to resign, but his higher-ups quickly denied his request. They insisted on his participation in a mission to eliminate the remaining remnants of the Rebel Army and other operations addressing threats to global peace such as the Pipovulaj Army.

• His height reaches 9.5 feet (290 cms)
• His nicknames are “Tik-Tak/Tak/Lak” (cause of the sounds he makes when he calls the ilu/tsurak)
• He’s a man of few words, calm and contained, but can be scary in his angry form
• Libido is 3 out of 5 points, his rut is aggressive and strong, can be calmed down within days not hours, his stamina is high, praying for his mate
• Seems innocent, is not so innocent
• Likes cooking, crafting spears and other weapons and taking care of them (sharpening, polishing etc), fishing and swimming (+ night bathing in small pools)

• He doesn’t necessarily like being a warrior, he strives for the peaceful fisherman life he had, but honor and duty spoke louder so he had to take the role of being Tonowari’s right hand without saying a word
• He is a morning person, has a lot of chores and duty to attend to, he is a perfectionist and sometimes jealous (but not overly possessive)
• Sometimes he consumes alcohol (as @tiredmamaissy ‘s golden quote “Bottle of fermented fruit..”), he has a trauma from the time he was ‘coming of age’ and so he’s very reluctant about opening up to others
• He raises tsuraks and is in charge of them, he is very close to his animals, a lot more than he is to people

Wood Engraving Wednesday
MANUEL VERMEIRE
This 6.5 x 6.2 in. (16.5 x 15.75 cm) wood engraving is by Belgian printmaker Manuel Vermeire (b. 1987) and is one of the prints selected for inclusion in the Fourth Triennial Exhibition 2020-2022 of the American wood engravers society, the Wood Engravers’ Network (WEN). This image is from the catalog for that traveling show.
While Vermeire makes prints in other media, his specialty is wood engraving and much of his work follows a tradition of rendering paintings as wood engravings. We don't know if this print Il Ritorno alla Mancia is from any particular painting, but it could reference any number of paintings, prints, or illustrations depicting this scene from Don Quixote. He notes that his principal influences are Albrecht Dürer, Jacob de Gheyn II, and Timothy Cole. Of his work in wood engraving, Vermeire has said:
I started to make woodcuts and linocuts at the age of 15. Even in those early days, I did see myself developing as a printmaker and eventually honing and perfecting my working technique. When I was around 21, I chanced upon end grain wood as a base engraving option – and I realized that it was easily the most pliable and workable surface for my craft. My debut in this field was very spontaneous and natural.

She a free-spirited mermaid who likes to learn more about people and worlds that are unknown to her. She won’t be afraid to ask questions and show her curiosity, in fact, she’s more daring and would not care about her surroundings which can be bad when she’s in an unsafe place in the ocean.
Cerule is unable to do well in mundane things that bore her, prompting her to run off and go do something fun. Even if it means she’d be scolded by her father.
Though she is classified as an herbivore serpent, closer to her mother’s side, she is still raised on the behavior of a carnivore serpent like her father. Which makes her a wildcard but unlike a certain eel that looks menacing from the starts, Cerule looks almost harmless. Though her feral behavior is reserved for those who truly test her patience. Not a lot of students know but her close friends have seen her literally growl at people who push her limits.
Despite being able to fight well as a serpent, she is quite clumsy with her long tail which makes her flustered often than she would like. The twins wouldn’t let her live it down if they ever see her bump into things.
Cerule would always try to understand new slangs in the human world though she mixes them up a lot, she still tries to keep up with the trends.
She absolutely adores cute things, she would drop what she was doing to just squish what she deemed “cute”. You would have to bargain hard to get her to let go.
She has the habit of humming when she’s transfixed on something, it would unintentionally put someone in a daze due to her powers as a serpent. Though as beautiful her singing voice is, she can’t stand to perform all by herself.
Cerule has a stubborn personality like her father which tends to clash as the two would argue about certain perspectives while her mother has to play peacemaker between the two.
Hometown: Serpent Sea
Family Life
Cerule’s home is known as the “Serpent Sea”, it is located in a deep trench where the light doesn’t reach. Going past the trench leads to a cave system that is difficult to maneuver around if one isn’t familiar with the area.
Many merfolk who have heard of the Serpent Sea know rumors and even legends about how the serpent merfolk were beings of power, and this leads to many being intimidated whenever there was a meeting that needed the leaders to meet up for discussions.
She was the only egg to be born between the royal serpent couple which was unusual as there should be multiple eggs. Hence why her father became overprotective to the point of it becoming overbearing. Her mother was thankfully not too overprotective unlike the father.
But life in the Serpent Sea was dangerous because of the rogue serpents who don’t ally themselves with the royals. There would be violent battles to either prove one’s strength or claim territory.
Cerule grew up mostly restricted to explore the sea outside her home which made her fussy and bored. So, she developed a habit of sneaking out without anyone noticing most of the time. It was only until she was at middle school age that her mother finally convinced her father to at least take her to see the area outside.
That decision was how she met and became friends with a certain octopus and the twin eels. She continued to visit them now that she has her first friends that aren’t hesitant to hang out with her because of her father’s reputation. She can’t recall how many times her father has accidentally or purposely intimidated other serpent children who tried to befriend her.
Childhood Memories
Cerule’s mother can remember that she almost lost her precious baby when a rogue serpent snuck in and tried to take the egg. Thankfully her husband was able to fend off the thief and retrieve the egg that suffered only a mere crack on the surface. But this was enough to put the two on high alert even after she was born. Hence why her father is always looming over Cerule even if he was being too much.
The first time she went out was to escort her father to see a different area of the sea which she marveled so much that she got carried away in doing something exciting before she goes back home. This led her to the event where she became friends with Azul and the Leech twins. She would willingly get him the ingredients that can only be found in her home or in dangerous waters. Thanks to her serpent heritage, she is strong enough to hold her own against plenty of aggressive sea creatures.
When Cerule was summoned to attend DCA, she had to beg her mother to try her best to convince her father to let her attend. Not like he could say no to the queen, this was a good opportunity for Cerule to be able to perform her duties as the next ruler better. Although her father was adamant on not having his precious daughter outside of the sea, he had no choice but to begrudgingly agree with his wife’s argument.
Thus she was given a special necklace that allowed her to transform from human to mermaid. This is a national treasure, much like Kalim’s magic carpet. Her father always spams her with letters to make sure she’s okay whenever she’s at school.
Cerule can recall the first time she brought over potential friends in the Serpent Sea, to her place only to flee at the sight of her father’s “grin”. Those sharp teeth don’t really look welcoming and it scared off any young serpent that Cerule wanted to be friends with.
There was one time when Azul saw Cerule’s feral side, it was when he was confronted by his middle school bullies when he was in his octopus pot. They tugged at his tentacles roughly that he can’t help but cry out. The bullies were then smacked a few feet away when Cerule slammed her tail onto them. She drops her joyful attitude as she snarled at them.
Azul thought that she was easy to manipulate during their first meeting but it was this event that made him think that he should consider her to be on the same level of respect as the Leech twins. The sight of her glowing red eyes as she squeezed his tormentors until they fled, was a constant reminder of her status as the serpent’s daughter.
He was smart enough not to incur the wrath of the serpent king as well.
Cerule is a 2nd Year Coquille student and is the current dorm leader.
She got way too excited when she was chosen to attend DCA that she had to be knocked out with a sleeping spell because she wriggled around so much that the carriage shook on the way.
Cerule was quite clumsy at first since she had to get used to legs, but as she practiced using her newly transformed libs it felt like she was more nimble on land than in water. Though she doesn’t want to give up her strong tail entirely, she still would choose to live in the sea.
Not to mention that she has no knowledge of the education that humans often go through on a daily basis. She felt stress for the first time in her life when she had no idea about math or human history. She struggled a lot back then but thankfully the staff were able to sort out her problem to get accustomed to human culture and subjects.
She was always dazed due to how many things were so new to her everywhere she went, she was almost as bad as Allison when it comes to being curious. Though after a year studying in DCA she’s toned down a bit though she still gets excited over new trends.
Though the fuzzy and feathery land animals are interesting, Cerule still prefers the sea creatures in the school. Mainly because she’s discovered the magical method of “Searching the Internet” that she found out about the dark biology behind those cute faces.
But when told that sea creatures are the same, Cerule argues that the sea creatures that have dangerous biology is clear as day unlike the platypus and ducks.
Cerule is very active in PE, while she has decent grades on other subjects that don’t involve using magic. She found them mundane and therefore lacking a bit of motivation to give it her all. Asking her to take notes for tests feels taxing as she’d rather look for sunken treasure instead.
School Relationships
Cerule was curious about humans and would want to be included in these strange human activities to experience something new. She’s made a new friends that can show her exciting things and always include her in their fun. These friends are, Allison, Perrine, Ella, Jinlong, and Vidya.
Allison and Perrine have opened her eyes to human cuisine which she became addicted to, they just tasted so delicious and the way the girls decorated the food reminded her of the colorful shells back in the sea. Though when they tried to get her to cook, she failed miserably, Cerule stuck to microwaves which sparked the argument between the three how microwaving food is not a form of cooking.
Jinlong and Cerule were at odds at first, mainly because Jinlong thought she wasn’t taking things seriously. But it took a match between their dorms for her to realize that Cerule just found fun in what she does but can also be serious. From then on the two became friendly rivals.
Ella looked like a seal to Cerule with how big and sparkly her eyes were. Not to mention she has a lot of pretty, shiny objects that pique her intrigue. They remind her of sea glass but they were shinier and quite heavy. She didn’t mind being Ella’s model from time to time but she preferred loose, flowing dresses as opposed to those dreadful “corsets” and “crinolines” that she tried out one time. It felt like she put herself in a net.
Vidya was very interesting because Cerule felt as if her gaze was like an alpha on guard. Which would make sense considering Vidya’s circumstance. Many thought that Vidya won’t let her guard down around Cerule so easily but surprisingly, the two got along well. Maybe because of Cerule’s happy-go-lucky personality reminded her of Kalim.
Cerule was also impressed when Vidya showed her a variety of plants that grew on land, they were more colorful than the corals and smelled nice. Her favorite plants were the fruits.
Marina’s form is from Cerule’s desire to seek out the unknown and discover new wonders. Hence why Marina is so open to exploration and always sings such interesting stories from time to time. Cerule also enjoys Marina’s company, she doesn’t keep her still for long.
Though Marina does warn Cerule in case of any danger, she still has to protect her charge after all. Cerule takes heed every time the fairy sings in a low tune.
Bobble
Cerule has a pet ringed seal named, “Bobble”, because of how he tends to bounce while trying to maneuver on land. She encountered a poor baby seal trapped on a floating iceberg, clearly it was separated from his mama. But what was worse was that orcas were waiting to pounce on the poor thing.
Cerule fought against the orcas valiantly and though she got injured, she managed to chase them away. The seal was starving and she offered to take care of him until he can find his mama. But it would seem that the seal prefers to stick with her instead.
Due to her home being too deep even for a seal, she kept Bobble at a grotto that happened to house several treasures she managed to find.
Bobble is just as curious as Cerule and would follow her orders without question. He has a keen eye for anything shiny, which means more treasures to hoard. Though he is a bit of a coward, he would hide behind Cerule and quiver.
Her unique magic is called, “Tears of the Sea”. She can willingly turn her tears into pearls that can be crushed into powder. Applying it to the injury or ailment would heal it instantly, the more pearls are used the better the effect. Cerule often keeps a bottle of it or makes them into bracelets for emergencies.
Cerule’s lineage as a serpent gave her the ability to serenade people into a trance-like state, though she can’t control this yet.
She can also manipulate water but doing so would exhaust her a lot. And she doesn’t exactly have complete control over it unless she’s singing. If she loses focus during a song, the water would burst and create a splash zone.
Charbyss Oceana
Cerule’s father and the serpent king. He is a 50 ft long serpent classified as carnivore with an intimidating appearance. His jaw resembles an anglerfish and he possess large horns that vaguely resemble a crown.
His body is very wide with scales that are dark blue with bioluminescent patterns on his back that begins to glow if he feels aggressive.
He is able to command storms and summon whirlpools with a mighty roar. Though he rarely causes trouble in the surface because they now live peacefully in the depths.
In his more human-looking merform, his size is the same as an adult orca. He has a buff build and the bioluminescent markings appear on his arms and chest as tattoos.
Despite his intimidating appearance, he is a noble and loyal ruler who looks after his people and his family well. His people have nothing to fear when he’s guarding their territory, because he would violently fight off any intruders and leave them for dead.
Such is the rule of the Serpent Sea. In fact, fights among serpents are said to cause underwater quakes from time to time.
He still has his fears of Cerule getting injured and no matter what his daughter or his wife says, he can’t let go of that memory which haunts him. This is also why he was against Cerule attending DCA.
Caeta Oceana
Cerule’s mother and the serpent queen. She is a 30 ft long serpent classified as an herbivore with a more elegant appearance. Her head resembles a porpoise and she has fins that flow behind her like a veil, with spines that vaguely form a tiara. These fins and spines glow with bioluminescence.
Her body is slender than her husband’s and her scales shine like silver in contrast to Charbyss. She also has bioluminescent patterns.
She has the ability to sing songs that can lure ships to her, it was once rumored that the legend of the siren began when serpents like her sunk a thousand ships.
As an herbivore, one would think twice about messing with her, though she doesn’t possess the feral instinct like her husband does, she still has abilities that render opponents unable to fight.
Such as being able to use her glowing fins to make anyone dizzy if they gaze for too long before paralyzing them with a venomous sting from her spines.
In her more human-looking merform, her size is slightly shorter than her husband’s. She has a slender build with long flowing hair, the markings also become tattoos on her body.
She is gentle and the voice of reason between her husband and her daughter. Understanding of what Cerule needs to grow up to be proper ruler as well as possess the right morals to rule. She had been sick when she was carrying eggs that led to her only being able to lay one healthy egg while the rest were not able to be born.
The character’s name, “Cerule” is derived from the color Cerulean, while her last name, “Oceana” is just the word ocean with a few more letters.
Her fist concept was the typical mermaid with the usual fish tail until it was changed to be an oarfish. To make it more unique, the serpent sea was created as Cerule’s character was built.
Instead of the Disney mermaid, Cerule’s mermaid concept is based on the siren mixed with the legends of sea serpents. This was also because the artist wants Cerule to be represented as the lair that served as the shelter of the Sea Witch (which happens to be a large sea monster).
In a sense, Cerule has closer ties with the Octavinelle Trio rather than be considered adversaries to one another like in the Disney film.
Cerule dislikes tight spaces for too long due to how suffocating it feels.
Cerule is a vegetarian, she is alright with dairy products such as milk, cheese and yoghurt. But eggs are not included in her diet on the surface. In the sea, she eats mostly seaweed and kelp among other underwater vegetation.

Spectember D27: Revamp the Dinosauroid
The end of the Triassic propitiated finally the dominance of dinosaurs in the next period with the rupture of the large supercontinent Pangea, though in this timeline something pushed further the fragmentation of the continent, and instead of just opening the rift of the Atlantic, it multiplied across Africa and a section of south America, making the Tr/J mass extinction more severe and killing out many more species of dinosaurs, so now the Jurassic was no longer dominated by the animals we have in our timeline, instead we get a strange variety of large dinosaur-like crocodiles, many sauropodomorphs that diverged from the smaller species that survived and never went into the same trend of gigantism as in our earth, many synapsids and so on. At the end of the late Jurassic a lot happened with the new order, within some of the second radiation of sauropodomorphs included varied carnivorous carnosaur-like species, medium size coelurosaur-like omnivores and smaller herbivores that look like silesaurs; from the omnivore lineage that have expanded in varied niches would rise a branch of semiaquatic species that resembled something like a scaly penguin with hands, long finger and claws, with short robust tails, shorter necks and longer heads with narrow keratinized mouths.
They are remarkable as many other animals of this world, through one particular species seems to have started a peculiar evolutionary trend in the last 10 million years.
For the reader, we will refer to this species as the Shagoids, a species originated from 50 cm long aquatic sauropodomorph descendants that wandered on the estuaries of the now more fragmented north Africa/south American region, their ancestors were more of a mix of a cormorant with an otter as unlike the rest of its own family this belongs, as one main feature of these are they still functional forelimbs, these still preserved functional arms and hands that helped them to manipulate their prey of crustaceans and mollusks. Over time these developed strategies to break down their prey shell, including the habit of picking and using stones which choose appropriately for this task. This behavior was passed on to new generations, learned and properly helped them to get food with less effort, the food quality increased brain energy, brain size also increased and so their skills were forged much more adequately.
It was on matter of few million years the Shagoids lineage abandoned their swimming lifestyle and became mostly semi aquatic coastal dwellers, living in the shores and just entering water to hunt their food rather than spending most of their time there. As social animals they formed hierarchy groups, formed by the head of a dominant female around minor males that could either mate with her or just serve them, as well many other younger individuals, matriarchs often had the duty to select and organize hunting and spending of food, as well regulate reproduction and mating between their lower family, as she normally is the eldest of the group, and only another female of the same blood can turn into a elder matriarch of if mated by the son of the elder, this perhaps was the moment they gained proper sentience as how they defined a cultural and social structure.
It seems at the end rathe in a sudden change of sea level in the last 3 million years did the final push on their evolutionary journey, as most of the Shagoid populations got stranded within the main continent with almost no way to find new connections to large water bodies, in other situation their species would have die for starvation, but at that point they were already adapted to feed on other food sources, from tubers, insects and small animals, being able to cook them using fire they managed to craft, and so properly passed the harsh time with the loss of a chunk of their population over the sudden change.
When the Shagoid expanded and found again large water bodies far from their native regions, they really have changed considerable from their ancestors, as their closest relative was a sort of strange loon like reptilian species wandering in the coasts, these were more like limbed penguins with long arms and tridactyl hands, which the third finger being a derivation of the 4th an 5th clawless digit fused into one, their short legs lost their webbed feet a while ago and are more adapted for walking, their head still preserve the characteristic seabird like shape but their teeth have changed in shape to be generalistic omnivore, with a large head which houses the most intelligent brain in the planet.
Over the last thousands of years, they have been becoming more and more prone to establish permanent settlements populated by hundreds of them much more different of their wandering tribes, often farm plants and even carry some animals for domestication.
For the first time in their history they are in the pathway of civilization… who knows what will happen next, either the Shagoid can remain like this until their extinction, or they will start building towards the sky and beyond.

Hellraiser "Hell Priestess" statue and art print, (collectibles, 2016)
.
The role of Hell Priest, colloquially known as "PinHead", of Clive Barker's Hellraiser universe being taken on by a woman dates back to the very beginning of the franchise, in the book The Hellbound Heart.
Before Jamie Clatyon's portrayal of the Hell Preist in the 2022 Hellraiser movie, the role was taken over by Kristy Cotton, the protagonist of the original Hellraiser movie, in the Clive Barker approved, canon, Hellraiser comic series.
Not long after, Sideshow Collectibles would release a officially licensed Hell Priestess statue and art print. Whether this is a representation of Kristy in the role, the character in the original book or another, unknown, damned soul is not known.

Why should we develop e-commerce websites on Craft E-commerce instead of Shopify?
Comparing Craft e-commerce to Shopify, It is essential to realize that Craft CMS is not intended to compete directly with Shopify. They both offer the ability for merchants to sell online, but they are very different platforms, with very different setups.
Shopify is an open-source e-commerce platform that lets merchants quickly launch a website using Shopify's out of the box storefront. Merchants can get up and running quickly and easily, without assistance, by using Shopify's library of purchasable themes and pre-installed templates. Still, if you need after customisation, then you require Shopify developers London.
Craft Ecommerce is an add-on to Craft CMS, an open-source, self-hosted content management system, which comes with a huge range of benefits. Craft websites are built from the root up; there aren't any templates or themes available, therefore you'll need to hire an agency for Craft development agency. Let's dive straight into the benefits of Craft Commerce:
Content-driven commerce- You can develop a single site that has the ideal blend of content and commerce, effortlessly connected, using Craft Commerce, which is built on top of Craft CMS and uses relationships to tie all content together. The demand for an e-commerce solution that not only offers great browsing and purchasing capabilities but also powerful rich content management functionality, without any obstacles or blocks between the two, is satisfied by Craft Commerce's content-driven approach to commerce.
Customisation- Craft e-commerce allows the client a great deal of flexibility to quickly and independently develop new pages (whether they be campaign sites with rich content or store landing pages) while preserving the overall integrity of the website. Ease of use- The dashboard for the Craft website was specifically designed to meet the requirements of the project from the ground up. So, the dashboard only includes the information required for the customer to administer their website, resulting in a simple, clear, and intuitive user experience that makes maintaining site content a joy.
Scalability- Craft is not an off-the-shelf solution - there are no plans or packages. Everything about a Craft site, from the design to the functionality to the authoring experience, is designed and built from the ground up, so anything is possible! Because Craft has no limitations, it offers complete scalability, meaning that you don't need to re-platform if your e-commerce business grows. Craft website development is the right choice if you want a customised solution and a scalable, adaptable, and future-proof website that effortlessly mixes content and commerce.

Yes I do actually, tho I had played around with his story a bit, guess I could try explaining it..tho I have no experience on writing good back stories.. but I'll try to make it fun to read and you can learn more about my lil lad
—————————info—————————
Name: Dan Burns
Age: 25 yrs old
Gender: Male
Species: Grunt, specifically, the more softer ones, being that most vulnerable to getting hurt yet can heal quite quickly as well
Height: 5 ft and 10 inch tall / 5'10 / 177.80 cm
More about him: He has joined many groups of bandits yet in most cases, they would suddenly die from a raid of another group, and he would be the only survivor, he would also be the medic or the support of a group or team, as he isn't good at offense fighting so he tries to defend instead and get those injured to recover quickly, and over the years he has develop a natural quick reflex like instinct and dodge most attacks like from bullets to swinging objects.. maybe even thrown objects, but if he does get hit, it oddly won't hit his vital spots, and so he is able to get away quite quickly, and let his quick healing do most of the job in recovering such deep wounds, which will range from hours to a few days.. that is if he is still living of course, he carries a med kit with him at all times, containing various healing equipment like bandages, patches, alcohol(not the drink), and other items, but he also use it to store some ammo for his revolver which he also carried at all times, tho not good at fighting, he is good at using his revolver to shoot enemies in their vital spots..unless he is surrounded.. he has a friend that he visits quite often, and he is slowly developing a crush on her but he is too nervous to say that, he just visits her often to forget what kind of a messed up world he is in
————————backstory————————
Dan Burns, or Dan, is a grunt who lives in a small town.. who will get constantly be raided by MAG bandits..or just bandits but giants, idk, heard it was from a madcom game.. so I used that idea.. anyway, they raid the town every week but in order to not have them literally destroy their homes, they have to offer something valuable, but in a town that is on the poor side of the scale, all they could offer are tons of food, hand crafted items like an axe or a shovel, and a few jewelry they could find just anyway, just so they could keep themselves and their homes safe.. if not, they will be killed and their homes be left to nothing but destroyed debris, and in order to try and get some valuable items to give, Dan decides to join several gangs and groups to do raid missions and rob places and give some to the offerings, but they done usually last long.. until he came across a poster looking to hire new grunts in the A.A.H.W, Dan has never heard of it and decide to apply, at this time, he never know who the auditor is, being in a small town you don't really know anything in the outside world as much, and so he applied and got in.. and he finds it odd their first day is to track a guy name Hank J. Wimbledon, and thought it won't be so bad.... and oh no.. it was not, days of being in the A.A.H.W was stressful as hell, alright pay but the pressure about this Hank guy? They have gone nuts..... Should have left there and then but the reason he didn't was that he assume they were just another random group he could rely on keeping him safe... And oh boy it was not, joining meetings about killing the most wanted criminal in all of Nevada.. and having a boss who could just use your corpse for their undead army....this is not what he thought he signed up for, and so, he fled out of there, not wanting to get involved in that chaos, but he was still registered as a agent in the A.A.H.W, now they are looking for him to return him, so he is constantly on the run, despite that, the auditor likes to toy with him and let's him flee every now and then whenever he can, even if he knows where his heading, this leads Dan to become so paranoid whenever he sees a group of agents nearby or even approaching, thinking he will be force to return to the A.A.H.W, even if the agents don't even recognize him... But at the moment, he sort of works as a part time doctor in a small hospital in Nevada, not full time in case the A.A.H.W tries looking for him there, but he is quite known there in the area for his great healing capabilities...even if it's as severe as getting run over by a truck and body split in half- don't ask how either, he either gives a vague answer or drops the subject immediately, and at well, that's so far most of the things I got for dan
————————notes————————
So uh, yeah, that's all I have for dan, as I have not build lots of lore into him, this is just majority of the thought I gave him... Tho I think the backstory for this fellow is.. all wonky and janky... But not my fault, my writing is not that great as I'm not a writer..but hope this sums most of the stuff and lore I got for Dan, any further questions I'll happily answer in either the comments of this post, or you can ask me through the ask box, thanks for reading? Sorry if it's so janky...hehe..
#dan#grunt oc#madness combat#lore#i have never write something like this in my life- im not kidding lol

Blood type: AB+
Weight: 227 lbs. (102 kg)
Design: He’s a 5’ 11” (180.34 cm) Japanese endomorph of American and Mexican descent with a partial beer belly, rigid muscles, broad shoulders, and sienna skin. He has sunburst green-hazel eyes and fingernails that are painted a dull gold. He has maroon hair with medium-length parted bangs, featuring two distinctive ahoge cowlicks in the centre, alongside sideburns, a neatly trimmed goatee, and subtle curls. Like Marco, he bears nasty battle scars: badly burned flesh from the right side of his neck to the left deltoid; multiple lacerations crisscrossing his back, forearms, and thighs; his left ring finger is partially severed; a couple of bullet wounds are visible just below his left lumbar region; and a scar snakes down from the right side of his forehead to the middle of his left cheek.
His right forearm was replaced by a cybernetic prosthetic, crafted from ultra-durable, lightweight metal plated and reinforced with tungsten nanotubes. Vein-like fibres of superconducting nanowire mesh enable seamless integration with his nervous system. The prosthetic features a retractable plasma cannon that fires two types of projectiles: yellowish-white ionised energy blasts that deliver intense electrical discharges; and metallic purple-green goo, a highly corrosive and acidic substance capable of burning through virtually any material. Beneath the plasma cannon, a nanotech-enhanced, razor-sharp blade retracts seamlessly into the cutting-edge prosthetic. Forged from a nearly indestructible alloy, the gilded blade is micro-serrated for optimal tissue and armour penetration.
His military gear consists of red-tinted sunglasses, a metal dog tag necklace with his name, a walnut brown T-shirt with ripped sleeves, a rusty orange fingerless glove on his left hand, and a burgundy leather belt with a snap-on gold buckle. He wears a saffron-yellow vest with four pockets, featuring an embroidered logo of the P.F. Squad on the back. He also wears citron army cargo pants tucked under burgundy paratrooper boots, a sheath for his combat knife, and a gun holster for a handgun he rarely uses. He once ripped the right knee of his cargo pants, but Fio mended it with a patch of butterscotch-hued fabric. The pockets of Tarma’s vest carry around an old cigarette box, a silver lighter, the key to his first customisable motorcycle, and a toy version of SV-001.
Over his T-shirt, he dons a Soldier Plate Carrier System (SPCS) with a MultiCam pattern, which carries around his walkie-talkie and ammo for other firearms. His forearms are wrapped in dirty gauze, and he wears two dark brown bandoliers: one drapes over his left shoulder, holding sticks of dynamite, while the other wraps above his belt, holding bullets for his handgun. Tarma carries around a citron load-bearing backpack that contains camping equipment, tactical explosives, portable ammo boxes, a canteen full of water, mechanic tools, a flame shot, two machine guns, an enemy chaser, and a laser gun. He has three piercings: a gilded septum as well as a silvery vertical curved barbell and a ring adorning his left eyebrow.
Tarma acquired a stolen katana called Murasame, renowned for its unique ability to self-cleanse its blackened steel blade, allowing it to remain razor-sharp. The katana features a distinctive wave-shaped hamon, a tangerine-hued handle wrapped in gilded cord, and a hexagonal silvery guard. The katana's crimson hardwood sheath features a golden straightened carp design, while the blade itself bears the Japanese inscription “血液洗浄” (Ketsueki Senjō), meaning "blood washing" in English, elegantly written on the right side.
His beloved motorcycle, built at just 15 years old, is a custom black and flame-coloured Harley-Davidson 42WLA. The bike's gas tank showcases a stunning design: an azure Japanese dragon wrapping around a bronze eagle with outstretched wings. He extensively modified his first motorcycle, integrating a missile-firing launcher between the handlebars and installing two 12.6mm calibre Vulcan cannons (similar to those found on the SV-001) towards the front. Additionally, he fitted a bulletproof carrier at the rear, coated in a durable silvery dark grey paint, which houses a shotgun and thirty corresponding shell holders.
Character summary: He often pokes fun at the overly serious Marco, much to his annoyance, yet still holds him in the highest esteem as a heroic soldier. Whenever he's away from Marco and can't contact him, he starts to worry about his safety. But when Marco returns safe and sound, he's instantly relieved and overjoyed to see that he's okay. The idea of Marco going missing or dying an untimely death would leave him feeling deeply melancholic, empty, and lonely. Tarma is fiercely loyal to Marco, willing to put his life on the line for him and offer comfort during his darkest moments. They share a remarkably harmonious relationship, rarely engaging in conflict or brotherly banter, as Marco is thoughtful of his emotional sensitivity.
As a flirtatious and affectionate individual, he frequently tries his luck with women and men who catch his eye, regardless of their faction affiliation. Although his advances often end in rejection, he doesn't let it discourage him and won't pursue them aggressively, viewing them as minor setbacks. Although his advances are rarely reciprocated, when they are, the encounters tend to be brief and sexually intimate, and he’s comfortable with that.
He has very strong romantic feelings for Fio, but struggles to express them. He enjoys spending time with her, sharing stories about his day and telling jokes. However, he occasionally comes across as a bit awkward in her presence. Once he and Fio enter into a romantic relationship, he exudes greater confidence in his feelings for her, leading to a deepening of their emotional connection and a profound level of intimacy and supportiveness. He adores it when Fio showers him with kisses, praise, and loving compliments, and he happily returns the affection. He holds Marco dear as his queerplatonic partner, a bond that strengthens when Marco joins him and Fio in a polyamorous relationship. He feels at ease sharing his dorky side and vulnerable emotions with Fio and Marco, finding comfort and acceptance in their presence.
He genuinely cares about Eri and strives to treat her with kindness and respect. However, her tendency to socially withdraw from him, coupled with her constant belittling and physical confrontations, makes it challenging for him. Fortunately, Marco and Eri's team of Ptolemaic rebels frequently intervene to stop these confrontations. Due to Eri's animosity towards him, he harbours a deep-seated fear of her and tends to distance himself, particularly when she's intoxicated or near Fio.
He's a loyal, clumsy, and fun-loving hothead with an adventurous spirit and a readiness to put up a good fight when necessary. He has a breezy and slightly sarcastic attitude, paired with a great imagination that shines when designing innovative weapons and vehicles. He has a clever talent for stirring up distractions and sparking moral self-reflection in those around him. He’s emotionally intelligent, going to great lengths to ensure the happiness of his friends, comrades, and loved ones. Tarma has a great sense of humour, often cracking jokes that span various comedy genres to diffuse tension in most situations, but it can become annoying at times. He has a hearty appetite, which becomes particularly evident after completing gruelling missions involving intense combat. Due to his strong sense of justice, he’s a vigilante at heart with protective instincts. If someone he loves is harmed, he will stop at nothing to ensure they receive the justice they deserve, showing no mercy to those responsible.
He has mild ADHD, which sometimes leads to spontaneous and curious thoughts and questions that he openly shares with those he trusts most. He feels deeply hurt and frustrated by Gimlet's mocking comments about his neurodiversity and physical differences, which escalate into intense confrontations. The mere mention of the Great Morden War triggers severe anxiety, culminating in violent panic attacks, vivid flashbacks, and haunting night terrors that disrupt his sleep. However, beneath his nonchalant and optimistic facade, he struggles with insecurities about his intelligence and mental slowness. Despite his enjoyment of being lively and a tad mischievous, he can't shake the feeling that he's a nuisance. Whenever he feels like he's about to cry, he quickly runs off to find a hiding place, fearing that others will mock him for his sensitivity. Tarma will only cry in front of others when he's feeling completely overwhelmed and people are aggressively yelling at him.
He's very patient, but sometimes his patience wears thin, and he snaps when he's feeling reasonably irritated. Although he isn't hesitant to assert himself respectfully when misunderstood, threatened or emotionally hurt, there are times when his approach comes across as rude and crass, leaving him feeling remorseful. He's incredibly passionate about vehicles, weaponry, and cybernetic prosthetics, often enthusiastically sharing his knowledge when asked. However, he's also fiercely protective of his interests and can take offence when someone criticises or disrespects them, particularly if they're models he's personally built or repaired.
He’s fiercely protective of his friends and comrades, willing to stand up to bullies and threats with a serious and intimidating demeanour. However, his strong sense of loyalty can sometimes lead to physical confrontations when pushed beyond his limits. He's generally humble and becomes slightly flustered when praised for his work and being a good friend, but occasionally exhibits overconfidence in his tactical abilities and creative projects. He can be quite reckless on the battlefield and during stealth-oriented missions, which occasionally puts his friends in potentially perilous situations, yet he always manages to keep them safe and unharmed. He strongly opposes racism, fat shaming, and the stigma surrounding mental health issues, viewing them as dehumanising obstacles to equity and healthy relationships.
He's surprisingly gentle and exceptionally kind to children, going to great lengths to rescue them from harm, ensure their emotional well-being, and provide companionship. When sleeping, he snores loudly and often talks in his sleep, uttering fragmented sentences during his most terrifying nightmares and pleasant dreams. He likes to drink with his friends after a long mission, but he often gets wasted and becomes silly, jovial, overly affectionate, and short-tempered.
He holds that morality is shaped by a combination of factors, including parental guidance, cultural influences, universal moral laws, and the capacity to establish ethical principles. In his view, the morality of an action is determined by the action itself, rather than its consequences. Interestingly, despite being a soldier, he’s a pacifist who believes that individuals can confront threats to peace, even if it requires compromising their personal morals. Furthermore, he sees life and death as fundamental opposites that are perpetually in conflict with each other.
Backstory: Tarmicle Ignacio Roving III was born on May 1, 2005 in Hokkaido, Japan. He was born into a large, diverse family. His father, Fabriclus Cristóbal Roving, is a distinguished Mexican-American military man. His mother, Koharu Nakabayashi, is a Japanese miniature painter and a retired army nurse who formerly served in the Regular Army. He has several siblings: Ildefonso, a firefighter and his older half-brother; Milagrosa, the lead singer of an alternative rock band and his older half-sister; twins Daisuke, a biochemist, and Ryōsuke, a medical engineer, who are his older brothers; and Calpurne, a fighter jet pilot who serves in the Regular Army and his younger sister. Fabriclus named him after his great-great-great-grandfather, Tarmicle Ignacio Roving Jr., to keep his legacy alive.
He often tells Tarma stories about the heroic actions of his namesake, who saved the lives of millions of innocent people from corrupt regimes and criminal exploitation. He also likes to tell Tarma stories about his experiences in the military, often mentioning a man named Alessandro Germi and describing the wars he had fought in. He taught his children to speak both Spanish and English and imparted valuable life lessons that they all embraced, including embracing failure and cultivating optimism. Tarma vaguely remembers Fabriclus sharing that he considered retiring after his first wife passed away from breast cancer complications. However, it wasn't until he met his second wife, Koharu, while she treated his injuries he sustained during a battle against high-risk criminals seeking to spark global anarchy, that he officially retired and started a new family with her.
He has a cousin named Achilles, who lives in Missouri, United States and owns a motorcycle shop. Achilles is notable for his distinctive light orange pompadour, playing a significant role in sparking Tarma’s strong passion for motorcycles. In contrast, his father fostered his interest in tanks, fighter planes, and the great outdoors, while Milagrosa ignited his love for rock music. He thoroughly enjoyed playing, exploring, and causing mischief with Calpurne, who matched his lively energy and vibrant imagination. However, their playtime wasn't without its challenges as she would occasionally take his toys without permission—though this rarely seemed to bother him.
At the age of 3, he met his childhood friend Tabomba when Tabomba's Filipino family moved in next door. Surprisingly, Tabomba sparked Tarma's interest in trains as well as cool bugs and rocks. Although they rarely see each other nowadays due to Tabomba's work as a marine biologist, they make an effort to meet up whenever they're both off work and on vacation.
His family frequently travelled across Japan, the United States, and Mexico, especially during summer and winter breaks, to visit relatives, enjoy the outdoors, and have fun. During a trip to Hiroshima at the age of 7, he met a girl named Chizuko, who was wearing an olive green bandanna. They quickly became friends after building a sand castle and finding worms under a large rock at a local park near the orphanage where Chizuko was staying. Sadly, they couldn't spend much time together because Tarma's family had planned to stay in Hiroshima for only two weeks and wanted to explore every attraction the city had to offer. Fortunately for the two, his family returned to Hiroshima a few times, once during a summer break and again to care for a sick relative.
At the playground and in elementary school, he faced bullying, responding in one of two ways: either he would remain oblivious to the taunts or burst into tears and rush to the safety of his parents or seek the teacher's intervention. He was bullied a lot at school because of his mental slowness, hyperactivity, and perceived "annoying" nature, and for not fitting traditional Japanese physical standards. Like him, Tabomba faced both racial and size-based discrimination, but found unwavering support in Tarma, who cherished their friendship. To combat Tabomba's isolation, Tarma would often keep him company, whether completing homework and assignments together or spending time together after school. Their favourite activities included playing video games, visiting the park, and watching action and comedy movies.
He had a couple of girlfriends and boyfriends in high school, but they didn't last very long. In high school, he started fighting back, engaging in fistfights and enduring street beatings as he struggled to cope with the constant bullying. He also began experimenting with building custom-made motorcycles as a way to initially impress those he was romantically interested in, and later found that it helped to calm his nerves.
Tragically, the bullying escalated to the point where Tarma felt overwhelmed and feared that reporting it to his teachers or parents would only create more problems and burden them further. So, he made the desperate decision to run away from home on his motorcycle, heading towards Hiroshima. Once there, he encountered Chizuko again, but she was different from the last time he met her. She was now the leader of a notorious street gang. Chizuko coaxed him into hanging out with her at their rundown hideout, where they drank beer and vodka stolen from a local alcohol shop. Tarma reluctantly agreed, but was thrilled to reunite with Chizuko after 8 years.
At the hideout, they caught up on each other's lives as Tarma had a couple of beers and Chizuko drank vodka from a bottle. Things took an unexpected turn when Chizuko got physically close to him, complimenting his appearance in a seductive manner. Their friendship evolved into a sexual relationship, which was Tarma's first. They spent many nights together, and he even participated in a few crimes with her, including theft and drug sales. Tarma would also start to develop a nicotine habit and, more positively, learn effective coping mechanisms and assertiveness skills to manage stress and stand up for himself.
However, their relationship was short-lived. Tarma ended things and returned home after discovering that Chizuko had been using him to fulfill her physical desires and distract herself from her trauma, while also advancing the interests of her gang. He would later reunite with Chizuko, now going by the name Eri, but she had become bitter, socially withdrawn, and aggressive, pushing him away.
After graduating from junior high school and enjoying the first week of his summer break, Tarma immediately enrolled in the Officers Academy of Special Tactics and Battle. In addition to his impressive engineering and mechanical skills, he achieved a notable feat at the age of 20 by rescuing President Marx, the CEO of a prominent defence contractor that supplies the Regular Army with weaponry, tanks, and other essential equipment. The Peregrine Falcons Squad took notice of this achievement and invited him to join the team, which he happily accepted.
Here, he met and befriended a lonely Marco after discussing their interests, reminiscing about their childhoods, and enjoying a couple of beers together. He would slowly develop a queerplatonic relationship with Marco, built on a deep appreciation for his company, a genuine desire to ensure his happiness and well-being, and a strong attraction to his physical beauty and intellect. He would also befriend Tequila, who imparted valuable mechanic skills to him and taught him specialised painting techniques for sheet metal, ensuring a durable finish that wouldn't chip, a lesson Tarma would always treasure. During the Great Morden War, he learned that Marco, alongside Tequila, was selected for the counteroffensive against Morden and quickly volunteered to join him, wanting to support his best friend.
During the Great Morden War, Tarma, Marco, and other members of the P.F. Squad, S.P.A.R.R.O.W.S., and Regular Army were ambushed by General Morden and his soldiers. They subjected everyone to rigorous torture, leaving them with lasting mental and physical scars. The Rebel soldiers and Allen O'Neil mercilessly taunted him, exploiting his sensitivity during the torture. Like Marco, Tarma was forced to witness the brutal slaughter and torture of his comrades and friends, which was emotionally painful to watch. However, he devised a clever escape plan by distracting the guards holding the key to his prison and appealing to their conscience. This unexpectedly worked, allowing him to overpower them, rescue Marco, and help his best friend thwart Morden's plans for world domination.
During his escape, Tarma received an unexpected gift from a Rebel soldier known as Guil, designed to aid him in future battles: the mysterious katana Murasame, renowned for its self-cleansing properties, which the Rebel Army had seized during their invasion of Japan. Touched by Guil's kindness, Tarma expressed his gratitude, and this brief encounter challenged his assumption that all Rebel Infantrymen were ruthless and loyal only to Morden's ideology. Rumours suggest that the cleansing properties of Murasame may be attributed to the Martians or the advanced technology of the Tuatha Dé Danann. However, Tarma remains skeptical and dismisses such claims as mere speculation.
After the end of the fearsome battle against General Morden and the Rebel Army, he rose through the ranks to become Captain of the P.F. Squad. He played a key role in the suppression of the second coup, getting a chance to fight alongside Fio and Eri. Notably, he saved Marco from a laser blast by the Hozmi that could have been fatal, earning himself a reputation as a hero and the true linchpin of the P.F. Squad. During the conflict with the Arabian Infantry, Tarma bravely rescued a baby and several children who had been orphaned by Rebel soldiers. He subsequently facilitated their adoption, providing them with an opportunity for a safe and nurturing upbringing. He lost his right forearm during a fight against Allen O'Neil, which was later replaced with a cybernetic prosthetic that he designed and built with the help of Regular Army scientists and Pupipi.
Tarma's exceptional talent for building motorcycles, rivalling that of professionals, had led him to consider retirement. However, these plans have been put on hold due to the persistent and desperate pleas of his spineless superiors to continue his service in the military.
