Don't forget to share your Sims' amazing creations with us – we can't wait to see what you build! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Downloading: If you download the zip, pick EITHER the merged file, or the unmerged packages in the folders - you cant have both, they're the same. The merged file has EVERYTHING! For other refrence images, and to see all 80 items laid out - you can check the preview here: https://www.tumblr.com/noideabutsims/760676067863412736/simmers-get-ready-to-unleash-a-world-of?source=share There are 2 functional playhouses (Dream home decorator required), a playhouse base, 20 functional dollhouses, 43 décor items, and 14 nesting blocks. All ages can play with the dollhouses, toddlers and up can play with the playhouses. Dream home decorator is REQUIRED to use the playhouses, the merged file includes them automatically so if you do not have it - please use the unmerged files HUGE thank you goes out to@TaurusDesigns because they have continuously helped me out with my meshing/making of objects, and they're a wonderful CC creator! Make sure to check em out! <3 (All of our CC can be found by typing " Donut " into the search bar!) All 80 items are New meshes, and have all shadows and LODs. There is a slight glitch in the shadows on a few objects, but it only occurs BEFORE placing them down in game. Once they are placed, they are perfectly fine! Same as the last set! <3 If you wanna check out our other block sets, you can find them here: https://www.tumblr.com/noideabutsims/754033695218909184/8-new-fun-toys-for-sims-4-infantstoddlers?source=share https://www.tumblr.com/noideabutsims/754032309525774336/tons-of-functional-new-items-for-sims-4-toys?source=share
Infants that can sit up can play with all dollhouse block items, toddlers and kids can play too! Most of my images have my reshade on - it changes the color minimally, so white may look a little off in photos, but in game it will look white/normal!! In images you can find the non-reshade example! <3 You can size them up and down using the bracket keys. [ ] <- these ones.  I personally, use the tool mod to size my items up and down, and specifically with these if you are wanting them to be "perfectly sized" i would recommend you grab the tool mod by twistedmexi! If you would like to use it in build-buy mode, you'll need BBB!) Re-colors, and using this item as a mesh/base is fully allowed! you can include the mesh, and do what you please with the item, as long as you link back to the original. There are posts for all of our cc on our main 3 platforms (Tumblr, curseforge, patreon. ), So there is no reason not to link back!
Will be releasing more content soon! stay tuned! ❤️ (NOT affiliated with EA or Maxis in any way! We just make CC! ) DOWNLOAD: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ CurseForge: curseforge.com/sims4/build-buy/donut-co-s-dream-build-play-blocks-expansion Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1E2ELomt_YIWhofi4wC4niJHzvkKNlMpx/view?usp=sharing
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/111578246?pr=true ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
**** Small tidbit about support, we really appreciate the read if you don't mind!**** We would love to be able to do this full time, but sadly without it bringing in an income, we can only do so part time. We LOVE making CC, but we NEVER want to force our supporters to pay us - just to access some items we made. Due to our items NEVER being paywalled, we have to now ask that if any of you could, we hoped you would consider downloading on Curseforge - if you do, you can help us be able to afford to keep making CC! If all or even a majority of the people who always download our items were to download on curseforge or sub to our $1 teir on Patreon - we could afford to turn this into a job. I know not everyone can, and that's ok, but if its possible it really really does help us out. It funds fixing our computers to be able to continue making cc, helps pay our bills, and even helps us fix our car and bike, and just in general when things happen. It really does mean alot to us, so supporting our patreon, or downloading via curseforge are amazing ways that you guys can help us! Thanks so much for all of your support!

Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion launches this fall worldwide for PS4, Switch, and PC
From Gematsu
Tumblr media
Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion will launch for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam, GOG, and Humble Store this fall worldwide, publishers XSEED Games, Marvelous Europe, and Marvelous, and developer Team GrisGris announced.
In North America, physical $49.99 standard and $79.99 “Ayame’s Mercy” editions will be available for PlayStation 4 and Switch. The latter includes a copy of Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion with a reversible cover, a “Save Yourself” LED blue candle styled after the in-game save points, a 64-page artbook filled with behind-the-scenes content, a “Ayame’s Mercy” lenticular art card, an “evidence kit” containing items from the game, and an Amare Est Vivere “Medical Kit” metal outer case. This limited edition will be available shortly for pre-order through the XSEED Games Store and at participating retailers.
Tumblr media
Here is an overview of the game, via XSEED Games:
Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion follows three high school friends; Haruka Nanami, Nemu Takanashi, and Maria Hitsugi, as they explore the Amare Epatoentst Vivere Hospital, testing a local urban legend as the streamer Nemu seeks to boost her subscriber count. Unfortunately for the three girls, the legend of “Ayame’s Mercy” is true, and they trigger a decades-old curse that sends them into a dark realm. Together they must avoid the vengeful spirit of Ayame Kirishima and other horrors from the hospital’s dark past as they search for a way to dispel Ayame’s curse once and for all. The cult-classic Japanese horror franchise returns with new characters, a new setting, a terrifying new curse, and a brand-new look allowing for more thrills and chills! Players can freely explore the fully 3D rendered halls of the Amare Est Vivere Hospital in both third- and, for those brave enough to take a closer look, first-person viewpoints as they try to keep the girls alive. This new perspective complements the series’ visual novel-style storytelling, pairing updated visuals with gruesome descriptions and spine-tingling binaural audio accompanied by the original Japanese voiceovers. Featuring six chapters, with eight additional scenarios and plenty of Wrong Ends for players to discover as they uncover the truth behind “Ayame’s Mercy” and escape with their lives, Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion is the perfect entry point for new horror buffs while keeping longtime fans on the edge of their seats.

hello! may i ask for advice how to build calcharo and aalto? tysm!
ofc! as always a lot of this is STC, subjective, and i'm always open to editing in any differing information from others
this one'll be a bit long so i'll put the whole thing under a read more ^^
additionally, let me know if i should create a tag for these posts? or if i should be putting them in the main tags (wuwa tags and char tags)?
sources used:
wuthering.gg (most info) | prydwen.gg (echo set effects)
Tumblr media
CALCHARO
BASIC NOTION - calcharo is a main DPS (eating up a lot of field time). his kit largely revolves around comboing his skill and heavy attacks (HA), though his resonance liberation also buffs his basic attacks (BA)
as a DPS, calcharo will want attack, both crits, electro damage bonus, and potentially a little energy regen
TEAMMATES - he pairs well with yinlin, whose outro skill will buff electro DMG for the next resonator by +20% for 14 sec or until swapping again
(she also buffs resonance lib. dmg but this only affects his initial burst on lib.)
he can also pair well with mortefi, as his outro buffs heavy attack damage by +38% for the same above conditional duration
-
WEAPON CHOICES
5* - Verdant Summit [CRIT DMG]. (limited - Jiyan's signature) resonance DMG (skill + lib.) up by +12%. when either is cast, HA DMG is increased by +24% up to 2x, for up to 14 seconds.
4* - choose what applies best for you out of Autumntrace [CRIT RATE] and Helios Cleaver [ATK%] -> the former buffs ATK by 10% after BA or HA, up to 3x, for up to 10 sec -> the latter buffs ATK by 3% every 2 sec over 12 sec (6x) up to 4x.
3* - Guardian Broadblade [ATK%]. BA and HA DMG is buffed by +12%
-
ECHO CHOICES
SET – 5-piece Electro (Electro DMG +10% + after HA or Resonance Skill, Electro DMG +15% x2 temporarily) (peak of +40% Electro DMG)
EVENT RECOMMENDATION – Violet-Feathered Heron [3] (see echo summon event post)
at maximum terminal level, 12 cost points can be invested into echoes over 5 slots. your ideal setup may be:
4-cost – Tempest Mephis (not to be confused with Thundering Mephis; Tempest buffs HA DMG after use)
3-costs (2) – Violet-Feathered Heron and Flautist
1-costs (2) – this one is a mixed bag, but i would personally choose Vanguard Junrock, Electro Predator, and Fission Junrock
feel free to also check out sidneymar's guide for calcharo for other opinions! (reddit with image | video)
Tumblr media
AALTO
BASIC NOTION - aalto is a DPS (likely sub DPS) that largely utilizes creating mist on certain basic attacks (BA's) and skill. when this mist is shot through, it deals extra DMG
as a DPS, aalto wants attack, both crits, and aero DMG. however, if you desire to play him as a main DPS, you will likely need to invest in energy regen as his resonance liberation has a higher energy cost than most other characters (150 vs 125)
TEAMMATES - he may benefit from taoqi, whose outro skill buffs skill DMG +38% for 14 seconds or until swap. otherwise, he works great as a buffer for other aero characters, being the one to give an aero buff on outro!
-
WEAPON CHOICES
5* - Static Mist [CRIT RATE]. (only 5* pistol as of 1.0) this buffs his utility as a sub DPS for other units, as using an outro skill will buff the ATK of the party by 10% for a short while. also comes with 12.8% energy regen
4* - all have their perks! choose what suits you best out of Cadenza [ENERGY REGEN], Undying Flame [ATK%], Novaburst [ATK%], and Thunderbolt [ATK%].
3* - choose from Guardian Pistols [ATK%] or Pistols of Night [ATK%]
-
ECHO CHOICES
SET – 5-piece Aero (Aero DMG +10% + after Intro Skill, Aero DMG +30% temporarily) (peak of +40% Aero DMG)
note that, if attempting to make him largely stay on the field / main DPS, 2pc Aero / 2 pc Attack is fine, but not covered here
EVENT RECOMMENDATION – Chaserazor (may be called Carapace) [3] (see echo summon event post)
at maximum terminal level, 12 cost points can be invested into echoes over 5 slots. your ideal setup may be:
4-cost – Feilian Beringal
3-costs (2) – choose from Cyan-Feathered Heron, Hoochief, and Chaserazor (Carapace)
1-costs (2) – Whiff Whaff, Hooscamp Flinger, and Chirpuff

Not to be a lesbian on main, but I've been getting into model kits a little, and I'm so confused why the majority of the human figure options are just "girl in bikini" or "naked girl"
Surely "girl in heavy armor" or "girl covered in flames/stone" or "girl in cool clothes" would provide more variety to the building experience and be more interesting overall
I'm building Aerial from Witch from Mercury and "girl made of heavy armor with gun, shield, and two swords" has been pretty cool, I'm just saying
(if I'm just missing the kind of builds I'm longing for, please link me, I went through around 88 pages of kits on hlj.com and all I found in this category was Feidy from a game called "Artery Gear," and while I have no idea what that is, look how fun this would be to build: https://www.hlj.com/ag-031-feidy-first-release-limited-edition-wavkm-058 )

To recount a twitter story, Kenny Lauderdale posted this very normcore review of the English release of Gainax VN Princess Maker 2 from the May 1996 edition of the (Michigan) Times Herald:
Tumblr media
It includes some great quotes, like Japanese professor Etsuko Yamashita believing its existence is a step back for feminism - very amusing given how gender-equal the player base for these games is today! Time marches past us all. Sometimes for the better - it cost $140 in Japan on release!?
But what I found interesting was the art featured - because that isn't Princess Maker 2?
Tumblr media
This is PM2, that girl above is not our player-named protagonist.
Turns out that is art is from Princess Maker 3:
Tumblr media
You can see specific scenes like the beach as well, in case you had any doubt. This is weird though because, well, Princess Maker 3 came out in January of 1997? More than half a year after this article was published! Which means they somehow had access to promotional material for Princess Maker 3? Which to be clear absolutely did exist at the time - in fact, Princess Maker 3 was bought up by Sony as a limited release for their brand-new console the Playstation. PM3 was actually featured on the cover of the first ever volume of the Dengeki Playstation magazine, released in January of 1995 (the PS1 coming out in December 1994):
Tumblr media
Alas I haven't found a copy of this scanned online, so I can't say what it contained. This being two years before the game's release does honestly point to some development hell drama, the timeline for a game back then should not be that lengthy. Man, wonder what was happening at Gainax in 1995 that might have been a distraction...
Still, we have a question of how this American newspaper article got their hands on them. It also seems worthwhile to note that this article is syndicated - it was published in a dozen newspapers across the country around this time, but with different titles and photos to fit each paper's needs. And other papers do have correct Princess Maker 2 screenshots on them!
I have no grand answer here or anything, sorry guys, but I think we can infer it. The article itself actually mentions that a "third one" is now in the works, which is something they would have learned from the publisher of the English version, IntraCorp (they weren't reading Japanese press magazines in 1996!). IntraCorp likely wanted them to mention it because they themselves were going to hopefully license it, assuming the first (well, second) one was successful - this was their first foray into this specific licensing niche, previously making action games like Witchaven II: Blood Vengeance. In early 1996 they sent out copies & press kits to reviewers, and I am guessing that copy almost certainly included - perhaps poorly labeled - promotional material for Princess Maker 3 as well that Gainax had provided them, so they would mention it in the article and seed hype. The harried layout editor at The Times Herald opened the wrong folder and threw them on the page by mistake - after all the author didn't work for him, he worked for the Associated Press. He had no experience with the game to know his error.
We will never know because this is a niche curiosity from almost 30 years ago, sure, but we will also never know because the game being reviewed above...was never released! IntraCorp declared bankruptcy soon after the publication of this article. They were not the localizers themselves - a team of 4 people called SoftEgg were - but their contract with them was binding enough that it left the virtually-finished translated copy in perpetual legal limbo. Eventually it was leaked onto the internet as a form of abandonware a few years later. The hard-working men of America never got to be "Sim Dad" in 1996 unless they were intrepid enough to be UseNet Forum users hunting down and running Japanese-language romhacks.
Which is not a hypothetical, that was occurring. I will leave you all with the opening quote from the rec.arts.anime group's User Manual for navigating your Nihongo copy of Princess Maker 2, preserved still in the roms you can download today:
We all know of Gainax as being the wonderful company that brought us Wings of Honneamise, Otaku no Video as well as multitudes of garage kits and other paraphenelia. However with the release of Princess Maker 2, one might think that their true calling is in computer software! This band of self described otakus which managed to lose almost all their profits in the anime business have come back by releasing several computer games (some of which were on display at Anime Con).
...written, of course, in 1994 :)

Klaroline WIP Wed - 1423 AU - Chapter 2
WIP Wed Birthday Edition! It is my Birthday! Happy Birthday 2 Me!
Second part, second chapter, whatever to all the walls of dreaming (they were torn wide open)
--------------------------------------------------
It was with no little amount of force that Caroline flung the door to the inn chamber closed behind her. The wooden door slammed home into the frame and the latch clicked into place.
“Married?” She hissed at Klaus. “You had to compel the innkeeper into thinking we were married?”
“The one room was all they had, and I was of the opinion you’d make a terrible nun,” Klaus said mildly, setting his saddlebags on the table by the fireplace. It crackled nicely thanks to a pot boy that had dipped in quickly before them with a coal keeper and lit the kindling.
An indignant noise escaped her. “Excuse you, I’d make an excellent nun. How do you think I made it across the country so quickly?” Her voice was proud as she slung her rucksack over the back of one of two plain wooden chairs tucked under the table.
The blue eyes that had had a tendency to linger on her watchfully these past few days of traveling together flicked up to meet hers in heated curiosity. “Have you a nun’s habit in that pack? Perhaps the proper vestments could be procured for myself, and we might make better time as members of the clergy.” A smile curled his lips, a wicked thing of dimples and sin. “I’m fond of pretend games, what about you, Caroline?”
Mary, mother of God. Caroline didn’t necessarily pray to her aside from keeping up appearances, but it didn’t hurt to be on polite terms with the lady. She doubted playing “Defrock the Priest” in a habit would be a good way of going about that. Aside from the fact that that was totally off limits. Klaus was totally off limits.
And still, despite her growing list of rules, she hadn’t been able to give him one to stop his flirting with her. It was ridiculous, he couldn’t possibly mean any of the things he said. Or at least, he was only saying them because Caroline was there and theoretically available. Surely?
“Klaus,” she said instead, “I’m going to pretend that you didn’t go through my bag while I was unconscious and don’t know exactly what’s in it.” The bags of goat's blood had been missing of course when she’d woken up the next morning covered to her chin in hay in a barn with the tang of blood in her mouth, and everything had been put back neatly, but instinct told her he’d gone through everything.
“I wouldn’t necessarily say that,” Klaus equivocated, opening his saddlebags and pulling out an object, “The plethora of items in your bag unfamiliar to me would hardly suggest I know what is in there.”
Caroline rolled her eyes. Jerking on the drawstring on her pack, she reached in, hoping she had something clean that wasn’t that habit. “Just because you don’t know which ones are powdered lapis and which are powdered Devil’s Fingers mushrooms does not negate the fact that you’re nosy. It does mean you should keep your fingers out of my kit though, unless you want to be seeing things for the next few hours.”
“I’m afraid my imagination is already preoccupied.” He tilted his head, peeking at her through golden fringed lashes. “Now about that habit, how familiar are you with ‘Hail Mary’s? I always had an appreciation for the mantra over ‘Our Father’s. Being delivered from evil sounds dull, and I'm rather fond of temptation, myself.” His low voice made her skin prickle and she swallowed.

Warhammer World Reveals for Mar 2, 2024
So I'm late on this, and not looking to not be late on these any time soon. Still, I really enjoy blogging these reveals.
In case you didn't hear, this time we didn't get a live show. My guess is that this isn't because live shows won't be a thing anymore, but just because they don't have many reveals this time around. Still, we'll have to wait and see what they're up to in the future.
We still get our WarCom article above, so let's take a look at what we've got!
NOW DATZ PROPPER ORKY!!!
Tumblr media
LOOK AT DAT MECH SUIT!!!
Tumblr media
LOOK AT DEM WEAPONZ!!!
Seriously! This Big Mek is badass! I definitely prefer the alternate head sculpt with the iron jaw. But if you're someone who pictures your Waaagh's Mek as being a little more kunnin', the main previewed sculpt is still good.
Tumblr media
We also get some stats. That is a nice big gun, but in keeping with standard Ork themes it's going to be very swingy. While fly can be a relevant keyword, you're not bringing this git for his firepower.
Tumblr media
This, on the other hand, is a perfect reason to bring him. Re-rolling advance rolls isn't anything to sneeze at, and this will make his unit really hard to screen out. Very dangerous, especially if Calling the Waaagh remains unchanged.
Tumblr media
There's an interesting box for you!
I'm not going to speculate on whether or not this box will be any good, since we don't know what's going to happen in the codex. But three of those kits are pretty relevant right now. And if you've ever wanted a Stompa, here's a potential discount if you need or can split the other models.
Tumblr media
Finally we have our Codex reveal. Haven't been the biggest fan of this Edition's Codex art so far. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool piece of art, but it doesn't really sell the army well to me.
Next we have our reveal for the Custodes. And yeah, sorry, this doesn't bring as much excitement for me as that Big Mek.
Tumblr media
Our second new mini is a new Shield-Captain. He definitely looks suitably ornate and imposing, but I'd keep the helmet on. I think the expression on that head sculpt is supposed to be contempt, but it's just not reading clearly as anything. In fact it just as easily reads as, "What the hell happened to this galaxy while I was stuck on Terra?" Fitting maybe, but not really portraying the majesty of the finest warriors in the galaxy.
Tumblr media
The Shield-Captain can now take a Pyrithite Spear, which is appropriate since you'd think a Shield-Captain could basically wield whatever they wanted. Previously, this weapon was limited to Forge World. Melta may have lost a step in 10th Edition, but Custodes have plenty of ways to get more out of it.
Tumblr media
This model is also coming with it's own box set, including a full six Vertus Praetors. Those aren't doing particularly well right now, but they could get some love in the upcoming Codex.
Tumblr media
Again, that's a very well done golden man, but there's nothing here to sell the faction or inspire a player. Why aren't they doing battle scenes on these covers anymore? Seeing a Captain and three Guard holding their own against a horde in their elegant combat stances would go much further to depict just how epic these warriors are.
This ties in with Hammer and Bolter, bringing characters introduced there to the table top. As such, I feel like this is going to be a bit niche.
Tumblr media
The sculpts are definitely nice, but I'm not really seeing anything that screams AoS about them.
One of my greatest praises for current GW has been how they've used the Mortal Realms to really let their imaginations take flight. So many of the new factions are just such wonderful reimaginings classic fantasy races. But these look like they would feel at home in any dark fantasy world. You could easily see them stepping off the pages of a Conan novel from the 1950s. For some, this will be a good thing. But especially now that Old World is back, I want Sigmar to keep pushing and keep giving us stuff that is new and cool.
There's also no hint at rules, or even system, for this band of killers. I'm betting we might eventually see rules for both AoS and Warcry. But it would be nice if they got some Underworlds love too, even if maybe the Singri has to stay behind.
This is the one reveal I'd had spoiled. This is so much fun and Blood Bowl is the perfect place for it! When I saw the preview of the goose, I was honestly thinking that maybe it was something for halfling cooks for Old World. But this is way better!
Tumblr media
These are a lot of fun, but I do kinda wish they'd gone a bit further. These gnomes don't really look like they're playing the most brutal sport in Fantasy. But I can't help but think of how much fun, and thematic to the game, it would be to see a bunch of wild animals just let loose on the field.
Remember, there's no rule that says a badger can't play Blood Bowl!
Final Thoughts
This was fun! Although I had a lot to say about Codex covers, that Shield-Captain's face sculpt, and some generic bad guys in AoS, these were still fun reveals. I can also definitely understand why they didn't really hype us up for them or do a live show. But as a casual release for a Saturday news post, this is perfect.
And yeah, I'm not gonna stop being salty about 10th Edition Codexes any time soon. So it will probably take something impressive to make me cheer a Codex reveal.

I'm a massive fan of both splatoon's unique weapons and unique brands, so when I found out that (most) weapon's secondary kits weren't just random words, but actual weapon brands, I went down a massive rabbit hole trying to learn as much as I could about it! But it also got me thinking of another issue...
See, many many people (including me) want third kits for every weapon. HOWEVER, outside of a handful of brands, most weapon brands derive their second kits by just slapping their brand name on it (Custom Jet Squelcher and Luna Blaster Neo come to mind). In-universe, the only way third kits existed in previous games was through collaboration with other brands: Ammo Knights gave us Sheldon's Picks, and Toni Kensa gave us the Kensa Collections.
Obviously, there are many ways to expand on this idea, and I wanted to mess around with it! So, without further ado, here's an idea for a more unique weapon collection:
The Custom X Collection!
The Custom X Collection is a collaboration between the Custom weapon brand and three different gear brands to bring you 6 brand new weapon kits, with their own unique stickers and skins! Some of these gear brands have a history of collaborating with other weapon brands, but many of these are just recently steeping their toes into the world of weapon kits!
(And, before I begin, these kits were make with Yaga's Weapon Kit Generator, with edited Splatoon 3 art by me.)
Custom X Annaki
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Annaki brand is making its weapon kit debut with two very aggressive weapon kits! The Annaki Jet Squelcher can clear plenty of space with its Triple Ink Strike, as well as clean up any of its teammate's messes with its own range or its Burst Bomb sub. Meanwhile, the Annaki Blaster can locate bad guys with its Torpedo and hunt them down with the new Kraken Royale!
Custom X Forge
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forge's new kits build upon the power of Custom's main weapon by giving them solid tools to keep themselves safe and assist their team. The Forge Hydra Splatling can enforce its zone of control much more strongly with its Splash Wall and Wave Breaker, letting it hold riskier positions and pick off anyone trying to sneak around it! And the Forge Explosher can give its team cover from afar with the new Super Chump special while sniffing out anyone trying to approach it with its Autobomb sub.
Custom X Zekko
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The new Zekko kits have the most variety between them. The Zekko Dualie Squelchers can limit bad guys' movement with its Suction bomb while rolling all around them, and it can get behind the enemy and shoot them from a safe distance with its Zipcaster special! The Zekko Goo Tuber, meanwhile, can sniff out enemies to snipe with its Point Sensor sub, and its Ink Storm special not only elps cover the ground with paint it can swim through, but it also enforces the space it's trying to control!
That's all I've got for now. Also, I'm no game designer, I just made these kits for fun. Let me know what you think of them, and if you'd use any of these kits!

Michael: Good morning, folks! Michael Moonrust here. Joining us is Basilwood Stonethorn, the newest member of the Thrasher League!
Basil: Please, call me Basil.
M: Sure thing, Basil. Now, tell us a bit about yourself. Folks at home have already read your thrasher sheet, so they know what you can do. Now they're ready to learn what you're about.
B: As they should.
M: That's the spirit! So, what got you into magic?
B: When I was little, my mother took me with her when she'd get her feathers done. They had a few early issues of Arcane Arts Annual in the waiting chamber. The covers caught my eye, so I picked one up - issue five, I think - and started reading. Beautiful stuff in there - rune-reading guides, energy crystal reviews, potion recipes, tips for writing your own grimoire, full-spread photos of combustion spells, magic circle diagrams, the works. But what really caught my eye, was this page in the back for beginner magicians, for how to do a basic conjuration spell - using a prism and a tuning fork to conjure a cloud of someone's favorite color. I uh, I still feel a bit guilty about this, but I actually ripped the page out and snuck it home.
M: You didn't!
B: [Hooting in laughter] Yeah, I was a right little scamp back then.
M: So did you try it?
B: Oh, yeah, and I was terrible at it, terrible! I barely got a cloud at all, and it was always the wrong color.
M: No kidding.
B: Yeah, but something about it was really exciting. When I got it to work it was... well, it was magic. I got really into it. So for my birthday, mom got me a children's sorcery kit - one of those thirty-cred deals with a bunch of single-use aura crystals, tiny packets of ashes and salts, all that jazz - and a cast-your-own grimoire with some cute little prewritten conjures and divinations. And it all kinda went from there. I think I still have that grimoire somewhere, in the attic or something.
M: And now you're on the cover of Arcane Arts Annual.
B: And now I'm on the cover of Arcane, yeah. That's a riot.
M: So, where did you go for magic academy? What was your thesis?
B: Oh, yeah, I didn't go for that. I'm basically self-taught.
M: Really now?
B: Yeah, I just read books and articles and stuff. Occasionally I'd post on a web coven when I got stuck on something.
M: And how did you figure that all out? Isn't magic really, well, complex, and subtle?
B: I mean, some of the really top shelf, high mana stuff, sure, but mostly no. Once you understand the basics, there's a lot you can just kinda guess at and see what happens. If you've ever painted, or meditated, or coded, I'd say the process is somewhere between those three.
M: You must have had a lot of talent to be able to pick up on all of that yourself.
B: Actually, no, and that's kinda why I'm here, right? I wanna show folks at home that anyone can do magic. Really good and original magic, too. I've come to realize that there isn't really such a thing as talent, in the sense that people have or don't have it, and that it's the primary barrier to doing really cool stuff. So many people live with that belief, and they end up limiting themselves artificially. The thing we call talent, is really just lucky guesses at how to build up a skill. I, honestly, just kinda guessed at what would and wouldn't work - and for a few years, they were all just total miscasts. I only got as far as I did, not because I had 'the right stuff' in me all along, but because I persevered through all the failures and trusted that, if I just stuck with it and practiced in a productive way, eventually I'd actually be able to cast something for real. And that's me, and now I'm here. I think anyone can do that.
M: Huh, wow, that's really something. I never thought of it like that, I suppose.
B: It's totally understandable, most folks have that assumption.
M: Well, tell me then, why are you fighting in an arena to show people this? We're glad you're here, but why didn't you just, say, write a book?
B: Uhhh, cause fighting is badass. Duh.
M: Hey, fair enough! Well, it looks like you've got a clear sense of purpose, and you know what you wanna do and how to do it. Thank you for joining us today, Basil.
B: Thank you for having me.

Naim 300 Series Open Day - November 25th! Timed Demos So Please Book Your Slot ASAP!
Tumblr media
Hi Everyone,
Well this is a first, in 11 years of HFL we have never had 2 open days from the same manufacturer in the same year but then it is such big news when Naim bring out 2 new ranges months apart that we are delighted to have our 2nd Naim open day in 2023, this time showcasing the new 300 Series system, which all I can say really does sound excellent, we’ve had it running for a couple of months now so it is well and truly run in.
The Days Plan
So whereas the Naim open day earlier in the year focused on the new 3 box 200 Series this time the open day will be running through all different permutations there are with the new Classic ranges, so starting with a 2 box system comprising of the NSC 222 + NAP 250 then working through every variation till we end up with a full 6 box 300 series running, this will really show the context and sound upgrades of each step change which actually will be really interesting to hear.
We will be running the PMC Fact.12 Signatures on this system as I know for the 200 Series event the speakers we ran weren’t for everyone but our most popular combo is Naim with PMC so I know everyone will love the sound for this day.
Book your slot
The above demo will last around 90 minutes and will be run by Mark Raggett, who many of you will know and has been at Naim for many, many years with Darren here also who many of you would have met for the 200 Series launch event, there will also be a Q&A session and also Mark will run through how to mix the legacy Naim equipment with the new kit where Naim give the cables required to make this work for free, which can be worth 100’s of pounds.
This is bound to be a popular event as all Naim events are, we will be running 3 timed slots, 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm so if you would like to come along please can you send me a mail to the below with your favoured time slot, thanks -
Free Power-Line Draw
Also Naim have kindly given us one of their Power-Line Mains cables (worth £649) to give away on the day so for everyone that registers we will do a draw on the Saturday morning so we can give that to the lucky winner when they come in.
Final bits
We will also have our upstairs demo room running with the limited edition Nait 50 integrated amp which is such a cool idea where Naim revisited their Nait one form 1983 and basically did a continuation of it to celebrate their 50th anniversary and as usual we will have refreshments available, please find a link below to Naim on our website -
https://hifilounge.co.uk/product-category/brands/naim/
Bentley With Naim In Car Audio
We are hopeful that Bentley will be bringing one of their cars along which will be kitted out with a full Naim system which we will park outside for anyone to jump in and have a blast, I have heard this before and considering this is car audio it is pretty incredible so will be a great opportunity.
PMC Prodigy Open Day!
Finally just a quickie to say that on December 9th we are having our final open day of the year, we’ve certainly done a lot of open days this year which have all been great fun, this one is to showcase the new PMC Prodigy speakers, these are a new entry level PMC which really do punch above their weight, we will run the Prodigy 1 bookshelf’s upstairs with the Prodigy 5 floorstanders downstairs then in the High-End room we’ll get the mighty Fenestria’s singing so if you’d like to come to this also just fire me over a quick mail.
Phew, I think that covers everything and I look forward to seeing you on the 25th November for our Naim 300 Series event and on the 9th for our PMC Prodigy event.
All the best,
Regards,
Paul.

The Last Mojave Indian Barbie
Wired to her display box were a pair of one-size-fits-all-Indians stiletto moccasins, faux turquoise earrings, a dream catcher, a copy of Indian Country Today, erasable markers for chin and forehead tattoos, and two six-packs of mini magic beer bottles—when tilted up, the bottles turned clear, when turned right-side-up, the bottles refilled. Mojave Barbie repeatedly drank Ken and Skipper under their pink plastic patio table sets. Skipper said she drank like a boy. Mojave Barbie secretly hated the color of her new friends' apricot skins, how they burned after riding in Ken's convertible Camaro with the top down, hated how their micro hairbrushes tangled and knotted in her own thick, black hair, which they always wanted to braid. There wasn't any diet cola in their cute little ice chests, and worst of all, Mojave Barbie couldn't find a single soft spot on her body to inject her insulin. It had taken years of court cases, litigation, letters from tribal council members, testimonials from CHR nurses, and a few diabetic comas just to receive permission to buy the never-released hypodermic needle accessory kit—before that, she'd bought most on the Japanese black market—Mattel didn't like toying around with the possibility of a Junkie Barbie. Mojave Barbie had been banned from the horse stables and was no longer invited to dinner, not since she let it slip that when the cavalry came to Fort Mojave, the Mojaves ate a few horses. It had happened, and she only let it slip after Skipper tried to force her to admit the Mojave Creation was just a myth: It's true. I'm from Spirit Mountain, Mojave Barbie had said. No, you're not, Skipper had argued. You came from Asia. But Mojave Barbie wasn't missing much—they didn't have lazy man's bread or tortillas in the Barbie Stovetop to Tabletop Deluxe Kitchen. In fact, they only had a breakfast set, so they ate the same two sunny-side-up eggs and pancakes every meal. Each night after dinner, Mojave Barbie sneaked from the guesthouse—next to the tennis courts and Hairtastic Salon—to rendezvous with Ken, sometimes in the collapsible Glamour Camper, but most often in the Dream Pool. She would yenni Ken all night long. (Yenni was the Mojave word for sex, explained a culturally informative booklet included in Mojave Barbie's box, along with an authentic frybread recipe, her Certificate of Indian Blood, a casino player's card, and a voided per capita check.) They took precautions to prevent waking others inside the Dream House—Mojave Barbie's tan webbed hand covering Ken's always-open mouth muffled his ejaculations. One night, after drinking a pint of Black Velvet disguised as a bottle of suntan lotion, Ken felt especially playful. Ken was wild, wanted to sport his plastic Stetson and pleather holsters, wanted Mojave Barbie to wear her traditional outfit, still twist-tied to her box. She agreed and donned her mesquite-bark skirt and went shirtless except for strands of blue and white glass beads that hung down in coils around her neck. The single feather in her hair tickled Ken's fancy. He begged Mojave Barbie to wrap her wide, dark hips around him in the “Mojave Death Grip,” an indigenous love maneuver that made him thankful for his double-jointed pelvis. (A Mojave Death Grip Graphic How-To Manual was once included in the culturally informative booklet, but a string of disjointed legs and a campaign by the Girl Scouts of America led to a recall.) Ken pointed his wooden six-shooter and chased her up the Dream Slide. The weight of the perfectly proportioned bodies sent the pool accessory crashing to the patio. Every light in every window painted itself on as the Dream House swung open from the middle, giving all inside a sneak peak at naked Ken's hard body and naked Mojave Barbie gripping his pistol, both mid-yenni and dripping wet. Ken was punished by Mattel's higher-ups, had his tennis racket, tuxedo, Limited Edition Hummer, scuba and snorkel gear, aviator sunglasses, Harley, windjammer sailboard, his iPad and iPhone confiscated. Mojave Barbie had been caught red-handed and bare-breasted. She was being relocated—a job dealing blackjack at some California casino. On her way out the gate, she kicked the plastic cocker spaniel, which fell sideways but never pulled its tongue in or even barked—she felt an ache behind her 39 EE left breast for her rez dog, which had been discontinued long ago. Mojave Barbie tossed a trash bag filled with clothes and accessories into her primered Barbie Happy Family Volvo, which she'd bought at a yard sale. The car had hidden beneath a tarp in the Dream House driveway since she got there. She climbed through the passenger door over to the driver's seat, an explosion of ripped vinyl, towels, and duct tape. She pumped and pumped the gas pedal, clicked and clicked the ignition, until the jalopy fired up. Mojave Barbie rolled away, her mismatched hubcaps wobbling and rattling, a book of yellow WIC coupons rustling on the dash, and a Joy Harjo tape melted in the tape deck blaring, I'm not afraid to be hungry. I'm not afraid to be full. Mom and Dad Barbie, Grandma Barbie, Skipper, and Ken stood on the Dream House balcony and watched Mojave Barbie go. Grandma Barbie tilted at the waist whispering to Mom Barbie, They should've kept that one in the cupboard. Dad Barbie piped in, Yep, it's always a gamble with those people. Mom Barbie was silent, hoping the purpling, bruise-like marks the size of mouths circling Ken's neck were not what she thought they were: hickies, or, as the culturally informative booklet explained, a “Mojave necklace.” Skipper complained to Ken that Mojave Barbie had flipped them off as she drove out the wrought-iron gates, which, of course, locked behind her with a clang. Ken fingered the blue bead in his pocket and reassured Skipper, Mojave Barbie was probably waving goodbye—with hands like that, you can never be sure.
