Rent a Car in Menorca for a Hassle-Free Binicar Experience
Tumblr media
Menorca, one of Spain’s most picturesque Balearic Islands, is known for its stunning beaches, tranquil atmosphere, and scenic coastal roads. If you’re planning to visit Binicar, a peaceful area in Menorca, the best way to explore is by car. While public transport is available, it can be limiting when trying to reach hidden gems. That’s why choosing to rent a car Menorca is the smartest option for a stress-free and flexible trip.
Why Renting a Car is the Best Choice for Binicar
Freedom to Explore at Your Own Pace
Public transport in Menorca is not as extensive as in larger cities. Buses operate on fixed schedules, and taxis can be expensive, especially for longer distances. When you rent a car Menorca, you can set your own schedule, stop wherever you like, and make spontaneous detours to enjoy breathtaking coastal views.
A rental car allows you to explore Binicar without worrying about missing the last bus or waiting for transportation. Whether you're heading to a quiet beach or a local restaurant, driving gives you the freedom to experience the island at your leisure.
Comfort and Convenience
Traveling in a rental car is far more comfortable than relying on public transport. Whether you're carrying luggage, shopping bags, or beach gear, having your own vehicle makes everything more convenient. Families with children will especially appreciate the ease of moving around without the hassle of crowded buses.
Additionally, car rental services in Menorca offer a variety of vehicles, from compact cars for solo travelers to spacious SUVs for families. Choosing to rent a car Menorca ensures that you have the right vehicle for your travel needs.
Cost-Effective for Travelers
If you're traveling in a group, renting a car can be more cost-effective than paying for multiple bus or taxi rides. Many rental companies offer budget-friendly options, allowing travelers to find a car that suits their budget while enjoying the convenience of private transportation.
Top Places to Visit in and Around Binicar
Binicar is a serene coastal spot, but there are many nearby attractions worth exploring with a rental car.
1. Binibeca Vell
Just a short drive from Binicar, Binibeca Vell is a charming fishing village famous for its whitewashed houses and picturesque alleys. This Mediterranean-style town is a must-visit for photography lovers and those seeking a peaceful stroll.
2. Punta Prima Beach
A 10-minute drive from Binicar, this beautiful beach offers crystal-clear waters and soft white sand. It’s an excellent place for sunbathing, swimming, or enjoying a meal at one of the seaside restaurants.
3. Mahón (Maó)
As the capital of Menorca, Mahón is only a 15-minute drive from Binicar. The city features historical sites, a vibrant port area, and excellent local markets where you can shop for traditional Menorcan products.
4. Cova d’en Xoroi
One of Menorca’s most famous attractions, this cliffside cave bar is the perfect place to enjoy breathtaking sunset views. It’s best reached by car and offers a unique nightlife experience.
5. Cala Binidalí
For those who love secluded beaches, Cala Binidalí is a quiet cove with turquoise waters, located just a short drive from Binicar. It’s perfect for a peaceful escape away from the crowds.
How to Rent a Car in Menorca?
Book in Advance for the Best Deals
Car rentals in Menorca can be in high demand, especially during the peak travel season (May to September). Booking in advance ensures that you get the best rates and a wider selection of vehicles. Many rental companies also offer discounts for early reservations.
Choosing the Right Vehicle
Selecting the right car depends on your travel needs. Consider:
Group Size – A small car is ideal for couples, while families or groups may need a larger SUV or minivan.
Luggage Space – If you’re carrying a lot of luggage or beach gear, choose a vehicle with sufficient trunk space.
Road Conditions – While most roads in Menorca are well-paved, an SUV might be a better option if you plan to explore rural areas.
Understanding Rental Terms and Insurance
Before confirming your booking, carefully review the rental agreement. Key things to check include:
Mileage Limits – Some rental companies have daily mileage limits, while others offer unlimited mileage.
Insurance Coverage – Basic insurance is usually included, but additional coverage may be needed for extra protection.
Deposit and Payment Options – Most rental companies require a credit card for the security deposit.
Pick-Up and Drop-Off Locations
Most travelers rent a car Menorca from Menorca Airport (MAH), as it’s the most convenient location to pick up a vehicle upon arrival. Many companies also offer flexible drop-off points in major towns.
Driving Tips for a Safe Trip in Menorca
Before hitting the road, it’s important to understand the driving rules in Menorca:
Drive on the Right – As in the rest of Spain, driving in Menorca is on the right-hand side of the road.
Speed Limits – The general speed limits are 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on open roads, and 120 km/h on highways.
Parking – Many tourist areas have designated parking spaces. Some require payment, while others are free.
Roundabouts – There are many roundabouts in Menorca; always yield to traffic coming from the left.
Seatbelts & Mobile Phones – Wearing seatbelts is mandatory, and using a mobile phone while driving is strictly prohibited unless hands-free.
Best Time to Rent a Car in Menorca
Menorca’s pleasant climate makes it a great destination year-round. The best time to visit is from May to October, when the weather is warm, and all attractions are fully operational.
If you prefer a quieter and more affordable trip, consider visiting in spring (March-April) or autumn (October-November) when there are fewer tourists, and rental prices are lower.
Final Thoughts
Choosing to rent a car Menorca is the best way to explore Binicar and its surrounding attractions without any hassle. With a rental car, you have the flexibility to travel on your own schedule, visit remote beaches, and enjoy the island at your own pace.
Whether you're planning a short trip or a long vacation, having a rental car ensures a smooth and comfortable travel experience. Book your rental in advance, plan your itinerary, and enjoy everything Menorca has to offer!

This is a perfect spot for your holiday headquarters in the Lisbon region. And when you're tired of visiting all these beautiful places from Cascais to the Vasco da Gama bridge and from Sintra to Palmela, take a rest at home and enjoy restaurants and shops without leaving the street. Or take a walk to the beach and see the fishermen.

We then headed to the beach to find a tapas place I read about called la Cova Fomida. We had to wait for a few minutes for a table and when the guy asked for my name he said he was having trouble with my accent! The squid was so divine, the best I’be ever tasted. It was an old establishment, with ceiling fans. I loved it. After that we walked to the beach. It was a bit gusty and the sand was coarse. The temperature of the water was quite warmer than in Australia.

Cova do Vapor - "steam pit", in English.
This is one of the least glamorous beaches in the world, and, yet, this place is incredibly interesting (and, from certain angles, prettier than some may think).
The Cova do Vapor is an old fishing village built by the fishermen and its families, with no project or urban planning. There are no schools or any public services here, but this is far from being a shantytown or something - actually, it's a peaceful place born at the confluence of the River Tagus with the Atlantic Ocean. This beach does not belong into the traditional Portuguese postcard, but there is something genuinely Portuguese about it.
All over the last decades, the ocean has invaded the village countless times. That means that these houses have been destroyed and rebuilt (further from the coastline) several times. The fact that people remain there is a tribute to human stubbornness.

It is incredibly vast, and the western point of the beach there are curious slate-type formations which are known as “Castelos”, where there is a monument in memory of the castaways of the Cantabrian fleet, especially the Bergantín Palomo, and the Magdalena vessel, sunk in the ria, due to the storm on November 2, 1810.
