Gonna put my thought process here

I thought without reading up it was a Teddy boy thing but that's a 1950s cultural movement so not that. However they apparently were named Teddy Boys due to taking from Edwardian dandy fashion so Teddy - Eddy - Edwardian?

If it was about cute names then Albert would suffice naming him after Queen Victoria's first born son Albert, who would later become Edward Vii. So his nickname could be Bertie or naming him Alfred, Alfie.

If it's about a war-related name, why not Wilfred, or Owen or anything like that? Or even Tommy, the nickname for a Solider. This has been discussed a lot though too in reference to the comedy of Thomas and Cap having the same name.

Gay names could have also been Oscar, Dorian or Maurice? Or joke names like Richard and William? (Dick and Fanny aww) Really surprised Dick as his name didn't get big.

It could be a reference to the 1972 paperback cover of Maurice which has a photo named Teddie by Baron Aldolph de Meyer.

I thought, what is the first fanfic where he is called Teddy, and asked myself Is there a way to search a03 to find the first instance of the, so I did this

and I found this fic from October 2019, which lists the author and a friend discussed in a ghosts discord. I'm going to send an ask to the author and update once I find out.

Or it could just be a Yonderland reference to Ted Higgins from 73.

But it seems in 2020 Teddy was around but wasn't collectively agreed upon a name yet from my searching of the Ghosts discord I'm in. So somewhere over those four years, Teddy gets more popular.

Okay but how did we come to the (general) conclusion that the Captain’s name is Theodore? Did someone make a post and we all kinda agreed with it? Is it a case of mass hysteria? A hive mind? Did the Captain come to all of us in a dream and say “heyyyy my name’s Theodore btw lmao” and then leave????

OKAY LAST POST OF THE DAY THEN I'M DONE–

This is something I was VERY nervous to post for some reason, but I've been SUPER into Elden Ring lately so, here's some designs I did for Archie and Maxie a few months back!!

( @abiding-by-the-laws-of-color and @ribbononline were huge inspirations for both the background and parts of the design process!! )

This took me about 3 weeks total because I had some struggles with them design wise (mostly Maxie, his gave me the most trouble), but in the end I'm VERY happy with them!! Maxie's minimal armor was inspired by the Black Knife Set, while Archie's is a mix of the Solitude Set and Relanna's Set and, had I drawn it, his helmet would've been like Guile's.

Thinking about Archie on this very fine day. I really need to draw her more with the emotions I think they would get along sooo well :3 ranking is based on how much archie likes tolerates the emotion in question. These are just their opinions.

Maxie keeps a model boat that matches with the one in Archie's base, and takes such good care of it, that not even a spec of dust taints it, which could mean nothing.

Maxie refers to Archie as a friend and a rival, but never an enemy, and simply states they chose different paths, which could mean nothing.

In Masters, Maxie revealed part of why he keeps the rivalry going is because he knows Archie likely feels just as dedicated to his ideals, and wants to take his feelings into account, which could mean nothing.

In AniPoke, Maxie stayed on the island until Archie regained consciousness, even being seen standing behind Shelly and Archie, wanting to see if he's alright, even after Archie tried to drown the island under Kyogre's heavy influence, which could mean nothing.

In Alpha Sapphire, even when Archie was the one who awakened Kyogre, Maxie subtly refused to let him take all the blame acknowledging his own ideals faults (with words like our and we) + in the AS Delta Episode, Archie is shown to overtly blame himself, even when it's partially others fault... which could mean nothing.

The Magma grunt stating they used to be on the same team together, implying they used to be on good terms, and Maxie likely knew and cared for Archie (and likely still does), given Maxie's goal to help humanity would've always included Archie, which could mean nothing.

How in the Seafloor Cavern scene, Archie said he wished at least Shelly would understand, which implies that he feels misunderstood often, and how Maxie disagrees, but never once misreads Archie's intentions or methods, and shows an active desire to take Archie's feelings into account, which could mean nothing.

I was writing something for this but it turned into two separate story ideas 😂 so maybe next time.

i finally got around to watching archie madekwe's interview with in creative company and it was astounding, for one. i geeked the fuck out. there's so much to talk about.

his and emerald's understanding of farleigh's character on such a deep level, not just what was on screen, but in his past and in his thoughts... gagged! i was very interested in his interpretation of farleigh's family; archie considers farleigh's mother as a kind of enigmatic fallen star who behaved more as a friend than a parent. archie describes farleigh's childhood as overly mature and neglectful, with the character having to experience more mature and adult situations than he might've in a different family.

another important thing archie touched on was the power dynamics between oliver and farleigh, and how threatening they appeared to each other. archie believes that farleigh didn't truly understand the genius of oliver and how intricate a game he was playing; that never stopped farleigh from observing oliver at any opportune moment. eventually, farleigh had a deeper understanding of oliver's sinister obsession with felix, as well as the way he manipulated the family. this is why, in the karaoke scene, farleigh doesn't bite the bait that oliver offers him. he's not grateful for oliver's sympathy or companionship; he's appalled that oliver would even have a personal conversation with him in the first place.

the dynamic archie describes between felix and farleigh is also really interesting to me. he discusses the transactional nature of their relationship, but also how deeply farleigh loved felix. there was also the need to learn exactly how to behave amongst the cattons; when to pull away, when to fade into the background, where to assert or insert yourself in a situation. farleigh is, above most other things, an observer. the nature in which oliver behaves in the early summer, how clumsily he navigates conversation, incited a lot of judgement from farleigh. part of it was the knowledge that oliver didn't quite fit, didn't make sense among the cattons.

archie talks about how self-serving the majority of farleigh's socialization is, at oxbridge. his opening line is entirely intended to cater towards the people he is walking with. there has always been a need for farleigh to adapt, observe, overthink. in this environment, love is neither unconditional nor reliable.

the biggest difference i've clocked between farleigh and oliver is the way they play the game. farleigh plays his own cards, he analyzes what he's seen, and acts accordingly. whereas oliver integrates, injects, and manipulates. farleigh is playing poker while oliver is playing chess.
