Booked for Murder (Old Juniper Bookstore Mysteries, #1) by P.J. Nelson US pub date - 12/10/24

An entertaining first in a new cozy mystery series - Madeline has returned to Enigma, GA to claim an inheritance from her beloved aunt. Her first night back, within minutes of her arrival, a fire is set. 

So starts the mystery. 

With its wide array of characters, charming small town atmosphere, and a fledgling romance this was a likable first (first book - congratulations to debut author P.J. Nelson!) and the first title of the An Old Juniper Bookstore Mystery series. 

I was pulled in right away, enjoyed my time reading, and will look forward to the next book by the author. 

*In the first chapter, mention was made of “You Don’t Miss Your Water (Til Your Well Runs Dry)” - and this immediately made me think of my own forever favorite version of this song - Gram Parsons with the Byrds.

5* Book Review of Voodoo and Veils by Bella Colby

This is the fifth instalment of the Wedding Witch cosy mystery series and still going strong.  Skylar, Jen, and Herb are in attendance at another wedding at Tidewater Castle. This time round there’s a medieval theme and a historical battle re-enactment. But as you’d expect in a cosy mystery, the day doesn’t go to plan.

The returning characters in the Wedding Witch series just keep getting better. And Tidewater feels like a genuine community, with all its gossip and connections. I love that beyond the story of each novel, there’s an ongoing mystery too that is revealed just a little more with each book.

And what a great ending! I’ll have to buy the next book to find out what happens (which I was always going to do anyway, to be fair). More please, Bella.

Un #huisclos digne de #agathachristie ( ou #arabesque, cette série avec #angelalansbury chère à mon cœur, avec un petit côté #cluedo très sympa !)Tous les éléments sont réunis pour passer un bon moment et tenter de découvrir l’auteur de ces troubles. S’il en est un… car les terres irlandaises regorgent de #legendesceltiques des plus inquiétantes. ❓️ What's your favourite tea? Are you a purist (ie. just black tea) or do you like a variety of teas? I love flowers in my tea especially roses though in not a fan of roses as fragrance in skincare etc 😅 📗 Deadhead and Buried 📚 Book 1: The English Cottage Garden Mysteries ✒️ H.Y. Hanna 🫖🫖🫖💀 I've enjoyed a couple of other series by this author though those 2 were focused more around food which is totally my thing! This one around the garden isn't my thing cuz brown thumbs here... but thought I'd give it a go anyway. Deadhead and Buried is a very easy and fast read. I feel that it's very simple / basic in comparison to her other books or maybe this being the first book in series so a lot of time was spent on setup. I'm keen to find out how Poppy develops as character and amateur sleuth. More murder, magic, and wolves

This is the fourth Bella Colby novel in the Wedding Witch cosy mystery series and I’m still loving these books. There’s another whodunnit to solve, a magical mystery to investigate, and relationship woes/joys to handle.

The familiar characters just keep on getting better. The murder set-ups are believable and intriguing. And the backdrop of Tidewater and its castle is the icing on the cake.

Now I’ve finished this novel, I’ve got my eye on the fifth book in the series. Keep them coming, Bella.

Two For One Mystery Thursday! It's a quiet English village-except for one crazed murderer! When Pru and her friend Bree agree to do some undercover snooping to help the police, little do they know that one of the Winterbottom women is hiding a scandalous secret. Murders At The Winterbottom Women’s Institute by Gina Kirkham was quite an interesting read! I don't usually read a lot of copy mystery books but I had a hard time putting this one down. It was interesting to follow along as each girl was picked off and the way they were chosen was also different. The writing is wonderful and I loved the mix of mystery, murder and humor! Great read! Three murders and a cryptic note Is the killer obsessed with medieval times or with Jonathan? When another death suggests that a serial killer is working his way through the English Literature syllabus, both the police and the scholar are drawn into a baffling mystery It did take me a little bit to get into Come the Dark Night by David Tregarthen but once everything started happening I was good! There are a lot of characters but they are all well developed and seeing the relationship between Kate and Geoff was probably my favorite! The pace was good, it fit well with everything that went on! And I loved the quotes from the classic! Nice read!
