The deeper you look into the classification of organisms, the more you will see that the classification of organisms is weirdly arbitrary.
The lines that divide us are meaningless. Our differences are cosmetic. Nothing is as real as it seems. One day, we will all be crabs.

The Women Surrounding a Medieval Queen
This goes through the different types of maids that would serve a Queen, as well as the different duties and function of companions or lady's in waiting
This is something i've had in docs as a personal reference forever. I'm putting it here so I can link it on discord, but please note NONE of this information is my own, it has all been collected from a dozen+ wikipedia pages.
Tumblr media
Overview of Maid Types:
Maids traditionally have a fixed position in the hierarchy of the large households, and although there is overlap between definitions (dependent on the size of the household) the positions themselves would typically be rigidly adhered to. The usual classifications of maid in a large household are:
Lady's maid: a senior servant who reported directly to the lady of the house, but ranked beneath the housekeeper, and accompanied her lady on travel. She took care of her mistress's clothes and hair, and sometimes served as confidante. .
House-maid or housemaid: a generic term for maids whose function was chiefly "above stairs", and were usually a little older, and better paid. Where a household included multiple housemaids, the roles were often subdivided as below. .
Head house-maid: the senior house maid, reporting to the housekeeper. (Also called "house parlour maid" in an establishment with only one or two upstairs maids). .
Parlour maid: they cleaned and tidied reception rooms and living areas by morning, and often served refreshments at afternoon tea, and sometimes also dinner. They tidied studies and libraries, and (with footmen) answered bells calling for service. .
Chamber maid: they cleaned and maintained the bedrooms, ensured fires were lit in fireplaces, and supplied hot water. .
Laundry maid: they maintained bedding and towels. They also washed, dried, and ironed clothes for the whole household, including the servants. .
Under house parlour maid: the general deputy to the house parlour maid in a small establishment which had only two upstairs maids. .
Nursery maid: also an "upstairs maid", but one who worked in the children's nursery, maintaining fires, cleanliness, and good order. Reported to the nanny rather than the housekeeper. The nursemaid would often stay with one family for years or as long as their services were needed.  .
Kitchen maid: a "below stairs" maid who reported to the cook, and assisted in running the kitchens.
Head kitchen maid: where multiple kitchen maids were employed, the "head kitchen maid" was effectively a deputy to the cook, engaged largely in the plainer and simpler cooking (sometimes cooking the servants' meals). .
Under kitchen maid: where multiple kitchen maids were employed, these were the staff who prepared vegetables, peeled potatoes, and assisted in presentation of finished cooking for serving. .
Scullery maid: the lowest grade of "below stairs" maid, reporting to the cook, the scullery maids were responsible for washing cutlery, crockery, and glassware, and scrubbing kitchen floors, as well as monitoring ovens while kitchen maids ate their own supper. .
Between maid, sometimes known as a "tweeny": roughly equivalent in status to scullery maids, and often paid less, between maids in a large household waited on the senior servants (butler, housekeeper, and cook) and were therefore answerable to all three department heads, often leading to friction in their employment. .
Still room maid: a junior maid employed in the still room; as the work involved the supply of alcohol, cosmetics, medicines, and cooking ingredients across all departments of the house, the still room maids were part of the "between staff", jointly answerable to all three department heads.
A Closer Look
A lady's companion was a woman of genteel birth who lived with a woman of rank or wealth as retainer. Where ladies-in-waiting were usually women from the most privileged backgrounds who took the position for the prestige of associating with royalty, or for the enhanced marriage prospects available to those who spent time at court, a lady's companions usually took up their occupation because they needed to earn a living and have somewhere to live. A companion is not to be confused with lady's maid.
Like a governess, a lady's companion was not regarded as a servant, but neither was she really treated as an equal; however her position in the household of her employer was notably less awkward and solitary than that of a governess. Only women from a class background similar to or only a little below that of their employer would be considered for the position.
The companion's role was to spend her time with her employer, providing company and conversation, to help her to entertain guests and often to accompany her to social events. In return she would be given a room in the family's part of the house, rather than the servants' quarters; all of her meals would be provided, and she would eat with her employer; and she would be paid a small salary, which would be called an "allowance" – never "wages".
She would not be expected to perform any domestic duties which her employer might not carry out herself, in other words little other than giving directions to servants, fancy sewing and pouring tea. Thus the role was not very different from that of an adult relation in respect of the lady of a household, except for the essential subservience resulting from financial dependency. Lady's companions were employed because upper- and middle-class women spent most of their time at home. A lady's companion might be taken on by an unmarried woman living on her own, by a widow, a married woman who lived with her husband and sons but had no daughters and desired female company, or by an unmarried woman who was living with her father or another male relation but had lost her mother, and was too old to have a governess.
In the last case the companion would also act as a chaperone; at the time, it would not have been socially acceptable for a young lady to receive male visitors without either a male relation or an older lady present (a female servant would not have sufficed).
Tumblr media
A lady's maid is a female personal attendant who waits on her female employer. The role of a lady's maid is similar to that of a gentleman's valet.
Traditionally, the lady's maid was not as high-ranking as a lady's companion, who was a retainer rather than a servant, but the rewards included room and board, travel and somewhat improved social status. In the servants' hall, a lady's maid took precedence akin to that of her mistress.
In Britain, a lady's maid would be addressed by her surname by her employer, while she was addressed as "Miss" by junior servants or when visiting another servants' hall.
A lady's maid's specific duties included helping her mistress with her appearance, including make-up, hairdressing, clothing, jewellery, and shoes.
A lady's maid would also remove stains from clothing; sew, mend, and alter garments as needed; bring her mistress breakfast in her room; and draw her mistress's bath. However, she would not be expected to dust and clean every small item, as that would be the job of a housemaid.
Tumblr media
A maid, housemaid, or maidservant were once part of an elaborate hierarchy in great houses, where the retinue of servants stretched up to the housekeeper and butler, responsible for female and male employees respectively. The word "maid" itself means an unmarried young woman or virgin. Domestic workers, particularly those low in the hierarchy, such as maids and footmen, were expected to remain unmarried while in service
Tumblr media
"What the fuck is a lady in waiting, then?"
A lady-in-waiting is a female personal assistant at a court, attending on a royal woman or a high-ranking noblewoman. Historically, in Europe, a lady-in-waiting was often a noblewoman but of lower rank A lady-in-waiting was considered more of a secretary, courtier, or companion to her mistress than a servant.
In some other parts of the world, the lady-in-waiting, often referred to as palace woman, was in practice a servant or a slave rather than a high-ranking woman though they had the same duties. In courts where polygamy was practised, a court lady was formally available to the monarch for sexual services, and she could become his wife, consort, courtesan, or concubine.
The duties of ladies-in-waiting at the Tudor court were to act as companions for the queen, both in public and in private. They had to accompany her wherever she went, to entertain her with music, dance or singing and to dress, bathe and help her use the toilet, since a royal person, by the standards of the day, was not supposed to do anything for herself, but was always to be waited upon in all daily tasks as a sign of their status.
Other functions historically discharged by ladies-in-waiting included proficiency in the etiquette, languages, dances, horse riding, music making, and painting prevalent at court; keeping her mistress abreast of activities and personages at court; care of the rooms and wardrobe of her mistress; secretarial tasks; supervision of servants, budget and purchases; reading correspondence to her mistress and writing on her behalf; and discreetly relaying messages upon command.
Ladies-in-waiting were appointed because of their social status as members of the nobility, on the recommendation of court officials, or other prominent citizens, and because they were expected to be supporters of the royal family due to their own family relationships. When the queen was not a foreigner, her own relations were often appointed as they were presumed to be trustworthy and loyal.
The ladies-in-waiting were headed by the mistress of the robes, followed in rank by the first lady of the bedchamber, who supervised the group of ladies of the bedchamber (typically wives or widows of peers above the rank of earl), in turn followed by the group of women of the bedchamber (usually the daughters of peers) and finally the group of maids of honour.
Ok here is where it gets confusing
First Lady of the Bedchamber is the title of the highest of the ladies of the bedchamber, those holding the official position of personal attendants on a queen or princess. The position is traditionally held by a female member of a noble family.
Lady of the Bedchamber is the title of a lady-in-waiting holding the official position of personal attendant on a British queen regnant or queen consort.
The Maid of the Bedchamber was an office of high status selected from nobility. She had often been a maid of honour before she was promoted, because of birth or royal favor. Her tasks were essentially the same as the tasks of the maids of honour, though they were of higher status.
A maid of honour is a junior attendant of a queen in royal households.
The position was and is junior to the lady-in-waiting.
Traditionally, a queen regnant had eight maids of honour, while a queen consort had four; Queen Anne Boleyn, however, had over 60.
A maid of honour was a maiden, meaning that she had never been married (and therefore was ostensibly a virgin), and was usually young and a member of the nobility.
The mistress of the robes was the senior lady in the household who would, by appointment, attend on the Queen (whether queen regnant or a queen consort). Queens dowager retained their own mistresses of the robes. (In the 18th century Princesses of Wales had one too).
Initially responsible for the queen's clothes and jewellery (as the name implies), the post-holder latterly had the responsibility for arranging the rota of attendance of the ladies-in-waiting on the queen, being in attendance herself on more formal occasions, and undertaking duties at state ceremonies.  During the 17th and 18th centuries, this role often overlapped with or was replaced as first lady of the bedchamber. In modern times, the mistress of the robes was almost always a duchess.

Toshinori Yagi is a Heteromorph, but Quirkless
Tumblr media
Nerd rant of the day! I’ve seen many different takes on All Might’s muscle form, arguing about whether it’s a part of One for All, is just a visual gag, or it’s a separate quirk entirely, that’s purely cosmetic in Toshinori’s case. I’ve had this theory for a while, but after seeing some videos on TikTok disagreeing over his secondary form, I’ve decided to publish this headcanon. I also have proof for this idea, so hold, please.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I want to address the idea that All Might’s secondary form is just a visual gag, and not an actual thing that happens within the canon in the series. I can see why this would be an accepted headcanon, as it’s hard to explain this ability of All Might’s, when it has little to no explanation within the series. The often comedic times in which All Might changes also lend themselves to this idea, and make it hard to take his transformation seriously. However, there are instances where attention is called specifically to the transformation All Might partakes in. Well, and the gush of blood from his mouth every single time he reverts to his smaller form prove that there’s definitely a physical change going on.
Tumblr media
With the idea that the transformation is a canon thing he does in mind, I want to address the idea that All Might only recently started doing this transition, since his injury. Boku no Hero Vigilantes disproves this as we see a young All Might do the signature transformation. (However, I’m not sure of the canonicity of ‘Might Ears’ so perhaps this can be taken with a grain of salt.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So what is this transformation? Izuku doesn’t do it so it’s not a part of One for All. Here’s where my theory comes into play.
We see several heteromorph characters, even within Izuku’s class. Shoji, Tokoyami, and Koda are the ones I am going to specifically refer to. There are other hetemorphs, like Ojiro and Hagakure, but in their case, their different anatomy is their quirk. To some extent, so is Shoji’s and Koda’s. However, Shoji’s unusual facial proportions aren’t connected to his quirk “dupli-arms”, and while Koda’s ears seem to play some factor in his “ani-speak” ability, from a scene later in the manga. (I won’t add it just in case for spoilers?) but his overall shape doesn’t seem to affect his ability much. And of course, Tokoyami’s ability is Dark Shadow, which really doesn’t explain why his head is shaped like a bird’s.
Tumblr media
As such, my guess is there is some kind of classification system in place in the MHA society that places heteromorphism as a quirk or not, most likely due to usefulness. Hawk’s wings allow him to fly, while Tokoyami’s head doesn’t seem to give him an advantage in any way.
Having said all that, I think All Might’s transformation, as well as his eyes, place him as a heteromorph. The eyes I’ll explain a different day, so as not to clutter this post too much. Flexing muscles does make them stronger, but in Toshinori’s case it may be that the transformation doesn’t add any extra strength outside of that, and so he’s considered quirkless. It’s only with One for All that he gets that super-strength. But his different biology may be part of why he was able to accept OfA without the same difficulties Izuku experienced, because it’s never mentioned that All Might has the same toe thing Izuku does. (You’d think if he did, his tailor (and David Shield!!!) would have noticed (which of course could just be the author forgetting but for now I’ll use it as support)) which adds even more to the idea that he’s a heteromorph, just not classified as having a quirk.

Texas - where a woman with a life threatening pregnancy has to go before the state Supreme Court for a life saving abortion but this freak gets transferred because to a women's prison
By Anna Slatz December 12, 2023
A trans-identified male convicted of rape and child sexual abuse has been transferred to a women’s federal prison after launching a lawsuit against the Bureau of Prisons claiming “discrimination.” July Justine Shelby, born William McClain, was convicted on multiple counts of child pornography trafficking after being caught distributing photos of infants being sexually abused.
Shelby was initially arrested in November of 2016 in Indianapolis, Indiana, after being linked to a cellphone found to contain graphic images of child rape. Shelby had been sending the images to another man later identified as a romantic interest of Shelby’s named Beau Thornburgh.
Shelby had met Thornburgh while in prison, and the two had developed a relationship over the course of their 12 years incarcerated together.
Tumblr media
When arrested, Shelby was on parole for rape and child molestation, and was not permitted to own a device which had access to the internet.
He was also subjected to GPS monitoring, which was quickly analyzed and used as additional evidence to connect him to Thornburgh, with Shelby appearing to regularly visit the other man’s residence. Thornburgh was also a registered sex offender at the time.
Shelby, who already identified as transgender at the time, was sentenced to 180 months in federal prison on charges of child pornography distribution and sent to Otisville FCI — a medium security institution for male offenders in New York.
He quickly began to present obstacles to his sentence, almost immediately filing a petition to have his conviction vacated after alleging his counsel had been “ineffective.” The court dismissed his motion, noting that he failed to demonstrate any evidence of the claim.
In 2020, Shelby filed a handwritten emergency writ of habeas corpus, claiming that his life was at risk in a men’s institution.
Tumblr media
In the document, Shelby claimed multiple constitutional grievances, including that his First, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendment rights were being violated on the basis of his gender identity.
Tumblr media
Despite having been moved to a women’s prison, Shelby has continued to pursue legal action and demand various remedies. Among his new complaints are that he has been housed with the “worst of the worst” female offenders, and that his risk classification has been set too high.
In an April 2023 complaint, Shelby stated that the females on his unit have “made it clear” that he was not welcome at the facility, and that he lived in “fear” of being attacked by the “violent females” he was being housed with.
Shelby’s transfer appears to be the result of the Biden administration’s attempt to restore Obama-era guidelines surrounding the housing and treatment of transgender offenders in the federal system.
In January of 2022, the Bureau of Prisons re-issued its Transgender Offender Manual, which included guidelines previously scrubbed by the Trump administration with respect to gender self-identification for federal inmates. Under Trump, housing was based on biological sex alone, but the Biden policies re-invoked Obama-era guidelines which make a transgender inmate’s “personal safety” a priority.
The guidelines also stated that ‘misgendering’ is expressly forbidden, and that taxpayers must subsidize cosmetic surgeries, sex hormones, and brassieres for men who claim to identify as transgender.
According to Keep Prisons Single Sex USA, there are approximately 1,980 transgender offenders in the federal system, of which 1,295 are trans-identified males. Of them, almost 50% are in custody for sex offenses. This is compared to just 12% of the general federal inmate population, meaning that trans-identified males are incarcerated for sex offenses at a rate of almost four times that of non-transgender inmates.
Between 2022 and 2023, there was an almost 23% increase of federal inmates who identified as transgender.

i don't think it's worthwhile trying to push for dysphoria-alleviating surgeries to be classified as not cosmetic bc people's reasonings for pursuing cosmetic surgeries are going to vary wildly and there is gonna be overlap in eg cis women's reasoning for pursuing the same cosmetic surgery a trans woman is pursuing. instead, i mean, just make all surgery free / make the classification of "cosmetic" meaningless. this also removes the profit incentive for the beauty industry to push onto women (both cis and trans) that they need XYZ surgery

(Reposted again because I forgot to add the images Ahhhhhhh)
(A couple of headcanons I drew up a couple weeks ago that I forgot to post on this account, happy reading!)
The green pigments on the scales of a leaf wing are the result of a symbiotic relationship with one or more species of algae, with the whole colony being referred to as a microbiome. Colloquially, it’s sometimes called scalegae. (pronounced scale-jay… or maybe scale-gay?)
Along the surface of a scale there is an array of microscopic nooks and divots that allow the algae to hook on and root in. From there the algae is capable of accessing the leaf wing's bloodstream, where it can exchange nutrients. The health and biology between a leaf wing and their microbiome are heavily intertwined, so if the health of one falters, then the other’s health will falter too.
Leaf Wings are all born a colorless gray upon hatching, but will quickly green up as they develop an algal microbiome of their own. Dragonets obtain the algae accidently either from algal spores lingering in the air and on surfaces, or from contact with another leaf wing who already has their algae.
First page: Algae Variants
In the past centuries, several hundred strains and variations of algae have been domesticated and selectively bred using leafspeak for more favorable results like improved disease resistance, durability, and speed of growth. Independence can vary among algae, most are able to survive independently when separated from the scale. But others have become so reliant on the leaf wings, to the point where they’ll quickly wither away if scraped off.
Classification Disclaimer: Due to the lack of access to modern day research tech and a standardized classification system, the leaf wing’s classifications for algae is a bit of a mess. This has resulted in organisms of differing kingdoms like bacteria and archaea to be lumped in with algae.
- Green Algae: The most diverse and versatile of the three. Most tend to prefer temperate climates with high moisture and decent sunlight. It’s ease of care has made it a prevailing choice for the leaf wings living inland. Though its  best you keep it away from salt, might you risk bleaching.
Painted Algae (Cyanobacteria): It looks like algae, it acts like algae, it’s called algae, but it’s not algae, it’s a bacteria, a completely different kingdom from true algae. Despite this difference, Cyanobacteria is still able to perform photosynthesis and participate in nutrient exchange with its host. The leaf wings have yet to figure out it’s a bacteria due to the limitations of their tech, and have instead falsely classified it under algae. It’s been placed in a smaller category under algae called painted algae, named so due to its paint-like viscosity.
Pink Algae: A vibrant and pink colored algae adapted to extremely high salt environments. It can be quite a burden to care for however, in due to its ravenous appetite for salt. The algae is still a rather popular choice for scale fashioning and the like, typically as a bright highlighter in service of other colors.  It’s typically associated with the wealthy and royalty who could afford the salt and servants needed to care for such an algae. Botanist believe it to be closely related to red algae
- Greed Algae (Haloarchaea): Looks similar to pink algae, and thrives in salt like pink algae, but it is once again not an algae, but an archae. There is still debate amongst the botanical community on whether or not it should be considered an algae, as it’s incapable of nutrient exchange and is seemingly immune to leafspeak.
Red Algae: A red and brown colored algae adapted to high salt and turbulent environments. It’s quite a  common sight amongst the coastal dwelling leaf wings, in part due to its resistance to the ocean’s salt. It still remains a popular cosmetic choice for those further inland.
Heterogeneous Mixing: Different species of algae are able to coexist on the same host, allowing for an array of opportunities in terms of self expression and fashion. Saturation of colors can also be controlled, with thick patches of algae resulting in a higher saturation of colors, and thinner patches revealing the more gray scales below. An example of a leaf wing with a heterogenous mix is Cobra Lily, a leaf wing in book thirteen that was described to have red markings along their green scales!
Red Algae Luminant: It looks near identical to red algae during the day, but when twilight falls and friction is applied, the red algae will glow a vibrant blue! This exotic type of algae glows most brightly when the wearer swims in water, though it may also cast a fainter glow during flight. One must remember that red luminant won’t just glow in any dark environment, as the algae contains a circadian rhythm that tells it to brighten only when night falls. Red luminant is quite popular amongst spear fishers, pearl divers, and abyssal explorers as a simple underwater light source.
There are some other applications of red luminent, primarily in the fields of art and fancy light shows. It would be artificially farmed in enclosed bays or other bodies of saltwater. During a special holiday or event, these patches of algae would be released into the ocean, allowing for the formation of a red tide. When night fell, the waves would swat at the algae and produce its signature marodes blue. Such a tradition usually decked the local ecosystem, and the clean up afterwards was a fairly putrid endeavor, as the red tide would begin to rot and plague the beach with a deathly miasma, and recently departed fish and other strange sea creatures would begin washing up on shore, but it was also cool as hell, and that’s all that matters.
Algae Care: Red Algae can be kept healthy by just swimming in salt water every once in a while, however Pink Algae requires a far more concentrated salt solution than what the ocean could supply. This is typically remedied by making artificial flasks of thicker saline water, and dampening any patches of pink algae to keep its hunger satiated. A diet high in salt can also help, as algae is capable of absorbing minerals directly from the bloodstream.
If one wants to remove fresh water algae from their scales, they can try to rub saline water on a chosen place to kill the algae. Removing salt water algae may require specialized chemicals. If a leafwing doesn’t mind the wait however, they can also try to starve out the algae by diminishing salt from their diet and avoiding oceanic waters.
Page 2: Medical Conditions
Torpor: Characterized by the complete lack or  death of the microbiome. Most commonly caused by long periods of smoke exposure. Can also be caused by falling into a cauldron full of algaecide chemicals, though the latter tends to be rarer.
Rust: Caused by poor care of the algae micro biome and is a step behind torpor. It can be caused by outside conditions and climates harmful to the algae. Can also be caused by poor physical or mental health of the host.
Scalding: Caused by over exposure to sunlight or high temperatures.
Bloom: Occurs when algae begins to overgrow past the scales’ boundaries, and is typically caused by poor hygiene. A scale bloom can be easily treated with regular showers and proper scale preening, or through passive flight, exercise, or scale shed. Saline water and algaecide salves also work to an adequate extent.
Toxic: Variants of scalegae that produce toxic chemicals. They are often identical to non-toxic species, making them incredibly hard to spot and diagnose. If left to fester, toxic algae may cause blood poisoning and a medley of other internal harm. Toxic algae can be accidentally picked up by swimming in unclean water, or through spread from another afflicted leafwing.
Miscellaneous Headcanons
Moss can also grow on a leaf wing, though it usually doesn’t benefit the dragon. Most of the time the moss is merely just a harmless nuisance, defacing one's set of scales. However, if the moss colony begins to grow rather large, it can begin to affect the efficiency of the microbiome, and potentially one’s mobility in extreme cases. Another thing to note, a majority of mosses tend to be edible, so it makes for a filling survival snack if a dragon wants to spend the time to scrap it off.
Lichens can grow on scales too. The stuff does tend to produce acid though and also might try to eat you, grow in caution.
Most wild red algae have flagella that allow them to navigate the open ocean. Domesticated red algae on the other hand have devolved their flagellums as a side effect of their more static lifestyle. If domesticated red algae were to be released into open water, then they would wiggle a bit, and then probably die.
Some scale algae can be cooked and eaten. It’s a rather inefficient way of getting food, but some leafwing cultures do it as a tradition. Depending on the species of algae, the taste can range from earthy, salty, or leafy.
A leaf wing with a healthy algal microbiome may smell like fresh cut grass. If the leafwing has red or pink algae, then they might smell like sea salt. Old algae that’s begun to rot will smell like decay and raw fish.
Rainwings are described as gaining energy from the sun. It's easy to just say they have photosynthesis as well, but I say Nay! and propose another explanation, in that rainwings have a weird circadian rhythm! In this theory the Rainwings have two sleep schedules in a day, with around four hours at noon when the sun is highest and four hours at night. This allows them to spend more time during sundown, making them partially nocturnal, which is why they’ve developed night vision. As for why they sleep in the sun, it could be for energy conservation reasons, disease prevention, or to warm themselves up. (These are the reasons why animals like lizards and lemurs sunbathe). Glory probably has dull scales from abiding by the sleep schedules of the other tribes. And also from the stress of having to live with Kestrel.
Leafspeak limits: On whether or not a leafspeak can affect algae, probably? Sundew was seen controlling sea kelp (a type of brown algae from the kingdom Protista) in book fifteen, meaning that leafspeak is able to affect organisms of different kingdoms. Presumably leafspeak works on anything with chloroplast, and so should be able to affect Cyanobacteria and maybe some animals. I suppose it is possible though that leafspeak doesn’t work on unicellular life, such a thing has never been confirmed.
That’s about all I believe, Cheers!

Navigating Skin Tone Chart Accuracy: Confronting Bias and Embracing Diversity in Color Classification
Introduction:
Skin tone charts are vital tools used across various industries, from cosmetics to healthcare, to accurately classify and understand the diversity of human skin colors. However, the accuracy of these charts has come under scrutiny due to inherent biases and limitations in color classification. In this article, we explore the challenges of achieving accurate skin tone classification, address biases, and advocate for greater diversity and inclusivity in color representation.
The Complexities of Skin Tone Classification:
Classifying human skin tones is inherently complex due to the diverse range of hues, undertones, and variations present across different ethnicities, regions, and individuals. Traditional approaches, such as the Fitzpatrick Scale, offer a basic framework but often fail to capture the full spectrum of skin colors, leading to inaccuracies and misrepresentations.
Addressing Bias in Color Classification:
One of the primary challenges in skin tone chart accuracy is the presence of bias, which can stem from historical, cultural, and societal factors. Color biases may manifest in various forms, including the overrepresentation of lighter skin tones in media and beauty standards, as well as the marginalization of darker skin tones.
Tumblr media
To combat bias, it's essential to critically examine existing skin tone charts and identify areas for improvement. This involves diversifying representation by incorporating a broader range of skin colors, acknowledging cultural variations, and challenging Eurocentric beauty ideals that perpetuate colorism and exclusion.
Embracing Diversity in Color Representation:
Achieving accurate skin tone classification requires a commitment to diversity and inclusivity in color representation. Brands, institutions, and researchers must prioritize inclusivity by actively engaging with diverse communities, consulting experts in color science and dermatology, and embracing technological advancements to capture the nuances of skin color.
Digital innovations, such as AI-powered color analysis tools, offer promising solutions for improving accuracy and inclusivity in skin tone classification. By leveraging machine learning algorithms and data-driven approaches, these tools can analyze vast datasets of diverse skin tones and refine color classification models to better reflect real-world diversity.
Moreover, fostering partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including community organizations, advocacy groups, and cultural institutions, can inform and enrich the development of more inclusive skin tone charts. By centering the voices and experiences of marginalized communities, we can ensure that skin tone charts accurately reflect the richness and diversity of human skin colors.
Educating and Empowering Consumers:
In addition to improving accuracy and inclusivity in color classification, educating consumers about the limitations and biases inherent in skin tone charts is crucial. Providing transparency about the development process, acknowledging the complexities of color perception, and encouraging individuals to embrace their unique skin colors can foster a culture of empowerment and self-acceptance.
Empowering consumers to make informed choices about beauty products, healthcare treatments, and cultural representations requires a collaborative effort from industry stakeholders, policymakers, and advocacy groups. By promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusivity, we can work towards creating a more equitable and diverse society where all skin tones are celebrated and valued.
Conclusion:
Achieving accuracy and inclusivity in skin tone chart classification requires a multifaceted approach that confronts bias, embraces diversity, and prioritizes transparency and empowerment. By challenging entrenched norms, fostering collaboration, and leveraging technology and innovation, we can move towards a future where skin tone charts accurately reflect the richness and diversity of human skin colors, empowering individuals to embrace their unique beauty with confidence and pride.

Been planning my own pokémon fakéregion for a while populated by fakémon of my design, named Tritania. One of the major gimmicks/features of the Tritania Region will be 'Atrocity' pokémon, tied to in-story lore and events these extremely mutated and deranged monstrosities pose a threat to the ecosystem and safety of humans and pokémon alike in the region. They even tote a brand new and freaky type! I'll reveal one today and more in the future but keep in mind these designs are of highly aberrated existing mons so if the resemblance is only slight, it's by intention, these things are ALL sorts of messed up! For today's atrocity we have what appears to have once been a Cinccino... [WARNING!!] Trainers are NOT to engage this entity, atrocity pokémon are a rare and unusual occurrence not yet understood. They are extremely dangerous and unpredictable. Do not engage, run away. [WARNING!!]
A-573 Codename: Greaselightning The 'Atrocity' pokémon (like paradoxes they all have same classification.)
A atrocity pokemon created when a cinccino is subject to unique conditions involving certain anomalous pokémon's blood. It's long luscious hair has become slick with thick grease not dissimilar to human cosmetic products. No longer concerned with keeping itself and the area around it clean, it is far more concerned about keeping it's comically huge pompadour well slicked and styled. It splatters grease everywhere whilst doing this and this grease is extremely conductive and slippery. It can unleash electric currents through this oily mess to devastate foes. Cocky, smug and snide it is extremely aggressive and won't hesitate to pick a fight for petty reasons, trainers beware. Signature Ability: Slippery Customer Contact moves used against this pokémon have their accuracy reduced by 40%. (From base, so a 90% accurate move becomes only 50%!) However the pokémon takes x2 damage from all fire type attacks and effects.

‘Cosmetics, Fashion and The Exploitation of Women.’
- Joseph Hansen , Mary-Alice Waters , Evelyn Reed. 1986
‘The capitalists want women go blame themselves not the social relations of production for the economic problems they face everyday’ (pp.16)
‘Since women are getting jobs that men ought to have they are alleged to be responsible for the high rate of unemployment of black males.’ (pp.17)
‘The class distinctions of women transcend the sex identity of women. This is above all true in modern capitalist society, the epoch of the sharpest polarisation of class forces.’ (pp.58)
‘In the competitive sex market which features capitalism, women are obliged to compete with other women for economic security, whether it is in the form of jobs or husbands. Therefore, women do not "indulge" in cosmetics. We are under social compulsion to use them.’ (pp.57)
‘As we have frequently pointed out, the past fourteen years of war boom and prosperity have produced a conservatizing effect upon the working class which we describe as a "bourgeoisitica-tion." One of the forms this takes is the readiness of the workers to accept bourgeois opinions and propaganda as scientific truthand adapt themselves to it.’
‘Let me say, first of all, that working-class women do not "in-dulge in"cosmetics. Our use of cosmetics is far from an indulgence it is basically an economic necessity and from this has become an aesthetic necessity.’
‘The cosmetics industry and their hucksters do not thrive on the natural beauty which is the birthright of youth of whatever class.’ It thrives on the lilies who have begun to fade, a phenomenon of nature which strikes every woman in her thirties. And in days of yesteryear, a woman was rated old by the time she reached herforties. It is an inherent part of every normal female ego to strive toward the preservation of youthful beauty, and this is a proper female goal worthy of the considered attention of a revolutionist.’ (pp.49)
‘once the fresh bloom of youth is gone, the working-class woman has neither the means to patronise the beauty shops nor the energy after wrestling with pots, bpans, and children to devote to the preservation of personal beauty, and soon she has joined the ranks of the drab millions.’ (pp.49)
‘Art is no longer restricted to formalistic classifications, but is diffused and coordinated in the beauty and the unity of all objects in the environment of the wealthy.’ (pp.47)
‘Rather, the revolution in art forms will no longer be just for those who can afford them, but will be the rightful heritage of every citizen in the communal world. Communist man will make an art of his waybof life, surrounding himself with the creative outpourings of his inherent talent.’ (pp.47)
‘socialism will extract the hypocrisy and the mysticism out of bourgeois morality and leave the universal ideals of buman brotherhood.’ (pp.46)
‘socialism will free this revolution from the bonds of the profit system, and cities will be planned for the use, convenience, and beauty of living, rather than for the profit of the realtors, speculators, and contractors.’ (pp.46)
‘The wealthy are beautiful only by their own standards which in the long run assign women the roles of mother and plaything. For this, youth is considered paramount.’ (pp.41)
‘Capitalist standards of feminine beauty are established primarily by men who, corrupted by an exploiting society, cannot see women as anything more than methers and playthings.’ (pp.41)
‘Let me say, first of all, that working-class women do not "indulge in"cosmetics. Our use of cosmetics is far from an indulgence it is basically an economic necessity and from this has become an aesthetic necessity.‘
‘The artists hold up the mirror to life in a reflective mood or in anger or compassion or sardonic humor. They seek to capture the joy and sorrow of life.’ pp.68)
‘It is only in class society that the myth has grown up that labor is identical with exploited labor.’ (pp.70)
‘Through the identity they make between labor and exploited labor, they perpetuate a split between producers and consumers, glorifying the latter at the expense of the former.’ (pp.70)
‘Not labor but the conspicuous waste of the products of labor is the mark of capitalist social distinction.’ (pp.70)
‘Social value and distinction were registered in the realm of production, and that is why the women of primitive society were so valuable and regarded so highly.’ (pp.70)
‘As the capitalist commodity market expanded, more and more attention was directed toward the population of women as important buyers of consumer goods of all kinds.’ (pp.71)
‘The propaganda machine as a whole is a vast institution. It has control of the mass arenas for selling commodities and bourgeois ideology: the radio, television, but above all the press. Capitalist newspapers and magazines are built around and maintained by the pages of advertising.’ (pp.72)

~ Basics: Sentient Races ~
As it stands, here is the super bare-bones list of every sentient people living on Konphair! This list excepts individuals (such as spirits, gods, deities, etc.) and further classifications (they all have variant species separate from their genus. This is a list of genuses, separated into their families, and all sharing the same order. However, do note that this is how we would classify them, not how they would classify themselves) VERY long post so I’m gonna keep everything under the cut!
A couple important notes that I’m going to cover about races now and not touch on again: - This list only covers anatomy/bio basics and, like, maybe an additional important fun fact or two. I’m going to make a more in-depth post for each of them covering more biology, culture, origin, and the like. These descriptions are going to sound a whole lot like describing animals, but every genus here is fully intelligent. - On that note! Races in Konphair function a little different to races on Earth, considering they don’t mean the same thing, like in a d&d setting. Every race is a different animal entirely that also happens to be intelligent. Due to shared origins, needs, instincts, etc., members of the same race tend to group together to form mono-genus civilizations and cultures intrinsic to the race itself. This is not always the case (diverse cities, mixed cultures, and completely unique beliefs are all common), but it is a phenomenon that happens a lot. I.e., there exists a ‘dragon place’ and a ‘gryphon place’ and a ‘unicorn place’. - And on the note of Earth, as you can probably tell, I’ve pulled both inspiration and entire concepts from all over real-world mythos. However, only the names and appearances of these creatures have been kept. All bio and customs and suchlike are my own creation, as much as I can manage. I’ve used the name Kirin, for example, because the race it describes are scaly, horned equines. This is exclusively for ease of use referring to each race, and does not at all resemble what they are actually called in canon languages or attempt to associate any non-cosmetic details with their mythology counterparts. - In other words, this is all just for fantasy fun, and nothing is meant to represent anything or anyone on Earth. If something is accidentally really offensive and I didn’t catch it, please politely let me know or discuss with me through PMs. - Yeah they all lay eggs. Yes the 'mammals’ too. What r u gonna do about it Now, all the gunky clarification aside, here’s the people of Dynasty!
Tumblr media
(A scanned copy of That One Time I listed and doodled all their basic anatomy. There’s a couple typos, but I don’t currently have the paper to fix them. ‘Lindrakes’, ‘Kerwyverns’, ‘Dracofeirs’, and ‘Camares’ are made-up names that you won’t find if you look them up. ‘Hypogriff’ is an intentional misspelling of ‘Hippogriff’ to fit better with the ‘Gryphon’ name)
Piscan Family (Fishies) Leviathans - Long, massive, marine-exclusive people, possessing a variety of limbs and enormous fin structures between species, the most fish-like in nature. Amphibious, though with little reason or faculty to traverse land (contact with surface dwellers is not commonplace whatsoever), and omnivorous, prone to eating anything they can graze upon at the ocean floor and sifting through sand beds. Webbed tails, claws, and facial crowns for as effective underwater movement as possible. Although they can share any number of intimate relationships, close bonds, marriages, and the like, they do not reproduce, and instead create huge, democratic communities and civilizations around a local hydra. Hydras - Significantly larger, rarer, and longer-lived beings, characterized most notably by their multiplicity of heads. Each head possesses a different name and personality, though the collective receives a unifying title and shares a common mind. Four limbs, sometimes varying, and smaller, less used fins. Marine-exclusive, well in deep waters, likewise amphibious, but almost never leave their homes for centuries at a time. Omnivorous, consume anything gifted to them. They are responsible for independently birthing both all leviathans and new hydras, the latter through a special nourishment/heating process similar to the raising of ‘queen bee’ eggs. Ninki Nanka - Significantly smaller and more distant leviathan relative. Freshwater-exclusive and almost always land-dwelling for permanent arrangements, though they can safely reside for any amount of time in bodies of water and move much faster through currents than on foot. No fin structures, rather slick, smooth, and heavily coated in mucus for water travel. Always require moisture and some body of water to survive; this leaves them in swamps, wetlands, rainforests, etc., only travelling outside these areas for small amounts of time. Carnivorous, eating large prey whole thanks to stretching jaws and a large throat. All have identical organs and reproduce by, at a certain age, releasing or receiving airborne material. Eggs always laid in numerous clutches in bodies of water for a few to end up surviving, but there exists no cultural expectation to keep the eggs if not desired. Annelid Family (Worms) Wyrms - Beings of enormous magnitude, perceived as psuedo-gods in the same way hydras are, but with a much greater amount of importance and reverence from the world as a whole. Only a couple to a handful on the planet at one time and born with a few pre-fertilized eggs, one or two of which they lay over a lifetime. Dwell solely underground in massive tunnels and community nests, often going into hibernation for years upon years at a time. Body coated in stone-like scutes, unused eyes inlaid beneath flaring scales, mouth made up of three huge, extending jaws, and a throat filled with fire. Only consume rock and other inorganic earthy material and have no necessity for water. Can live longer than any other race, but are usually unseen by the public. Lungs (Reptilian Ancestry) - Large, long-living people who reside in cold, high-altitude regions, built with spiraling bodies that can be used for personal warmth. The only Annelid with fur or horns as well as a commonplace set of four clawed legs, closely likening them to their dragon relatives. Not nearly as rare in any way as hydras or wyrms, but still a grand and impressive sight. Don’t always find a partner or another of their own kind, but when they do, they tend to settle down monogamously and are capable of producing a few eggs. Not always entirely isolated, but almost never create lung-based civilizations, preferring to adapt into a mixed city if at all. Herbivorous, with powerful crushing jaws for eating huge swathes of fruit or vegetables at a time. Survivors of the winter. Salamanders (Distant Piscan Ancestry) - Many-legged, smaller underground annelids that spend the majority of their time deep in the earth or in moist regions. Unlike Ninki Nanka, their nearest relative, most of the water content they require can be created themselves or collected infrequently at large pools and water bodies. Nearly always coated in a mucus layer and will soften up and muddy the ground around them as they create tunnels. Infrequently form permanent bonds, instead gather in nesting groups to lay a swathe of eggs in one cavern before moving on. One of the only races to commune with wyrms, often serving as messengers between the will of the wyrms and the rest of the world. Lindwurms (Reptilian Ancestry, Close Amphiptere Relation) - Has a lindrake variant which lacks wings. Nearly the smallest race on Konphair, second only to Amphipteres; tiny, forest and woodland-based people who form huge city networks in treetops, trunks, and any organic material they can hollow out. Some of the largest metropolis-adjacent civilizations in the world, territory often spanning behemoth plots of land thanks to a distinct minority of other races who populate densely wooded areas. Gliders (and the first of this list with wings thus far, wyvern-like and serving as taloned forelimbs when down), incapable of long-term flight, but tend to do most movement climbing, running, or jumping. Can ‘puff up’ to appear larger than they are. Fruitarians and insectivores, often gathering as much food as possible at once and slowly sharing it over a certain period of time. Having children, partners, and a growing population is immensely important, and although only two are required to reproduce, they often group into large polyamorous bands that will readily accept new members and raise a family as a collective. The only race in Konphair which can mate with another genus and create another copy of itself rather than a hybrid (lindwurm & amphiptere parents will produce either a lindwurm or amphiptere). Amphipteres (Avian Ancestry, Close Lindwurm Relation) - Share diet, reproduction, biological needs, basic anatomy, and civilizations with lindwurms. Feathery, soft, and sharper-toothed than their scaled counterparts. Frequently do more of the hunting rather than gathering in smaller city systems and villages. Reptilian Family (Lizards) Dragons - Has a drake variant which lacks wings. Tall, horned, heavily scaled people that often exhibit fur around the head, neck, and keel, with occasional patches closer to a powerful, prehensile tail. Heavy but with hollow, gas-filled bones and large leathery wings that fold in at the shoulder. Four clawed legs, back more powerful for lifting off. Excellent fliers, though reside on the ground in dry climates and build up high architecture for air travel. Complete carnivores, consuming all bone and cartilage whole, as well as stone material to crush and digest these parts. All rock is, eventually, converted into methane and moved into the mouth for fire-breathing. Highly bird-like organs, including reproductive, proving to make sexing extremely difficult. Require two individuals to produce eggs and usually join in monogamous relationships, but it is exceptionally commonplace to go through many partners before settling down. Wyverns - Huge, especially long-lived, isolated beings, continuously growing over their lifespan until they are immensely larger than lungs. No horns but stronger scales than dragons. Largest wings of any race, leathery and joined to the fore ankles with talons for grasping. Capable of flight, but after passing a certain age and weight, it becomes more of a hassle than it is worthwhile. Hefty back legs, though frequently go unused, and extended, slender tail much like a whip. Live in extremely warm, arid environments in mountain ranges or rock nests, virtually never interacting with both others wyverns and other races. Will, if they so chose, briefly track down another long enough to mate, but promptly depart afterwards whether or not they bring the clutch with them. Consume exclusively meat and can digest bone matter, no rock necessary. Can brew smoke and embers from their chests and throats but lack the ability to spew real fire. Kerwyverns - Far smaller wyverns descendants with a more upright posture and lighter structure. Much closer in body type to dragons, but with the same wings, talons, tail, and lifetime growth as their parent genus. Likewise non-horned and thick-scaled. Proficient fliers, spending the most time of any reptilian or reptilian-adjacent genus in the air. Carnivorous and extremely adept in smoke, smolder, and spark production. Form independent cities but often not whole mono-genus nations, instead either staying individual or requesting to be annexed into larger collectives. Live primarily in rocky, mountainous regions with moderate temperature conditions, but can dwell anywhere from forests to plains. Usually lay eggs with their first partners, but unification and marriage ceremonies are extremely uncommon. Dracofeirs - The smallest of the reptilians, an offshoot of the dragons’ drake variant. The only of the four that are runners and solely ground-based, as well as, though small, bulky and horned for carrying materials. Four strong small-clawed legs for quick movement. Soft, leathery scales but bulky, tough bodies, excellent for moving quietly and unharmed. Omnivores with a carnivorous lean, lacking any trace of fire or smoke completely. Moderate climates preferred, but almost all locations can be suitable; civilizations (and partnering customs) vary wildly between environments, local culture, and community preferences. Large cities and nomadic parties, and anything in between are all fair game. Equine Family (Horsies) Unicorns - One-horned, four-hooved (though separate into claw-like toes) people who are nearly identical in size to dragons, though with a taller and length-wise shorter stature. Dense manes of hair down the back of the neck and puffing out at the end of a furred tail. No scales or chitin whatsoever, rather relying on a thick pelt and skin for protection. Obligate carnivores with some of the biggest ripping-and-tearing teeth of all Konphair’s races, second to members of the mammalian family. Long, sticky tongues for grabbing like those of a giraffe. Skilled runners with practice, but civilians in large cities don’t often use the ability. Live in moderate, verdant areas, preferring woodland, forest, and lush plains. The first in this list capable of using magic, harnessing sorcery through their horns, hooves, and mouth. This arcana is extremely significant to any unicorn society, and those who don’t have the resources to hone their skill are considered unfortunate. Possess sexual organs but cannot reproduce naturally together, instead creating eggs with magic to be fertilized. Partnership is not necessary for offspring, but it is significantly easier to create eggs through sorcery with two or more individuals. Kirin - Slightly resemblant of unicorns, but in no way related to them, instead being classified by their appearance. Shorter and more slender, possessing two horns, a thick, wintery mane which covers the entirety of the neck, and a sweeping broom of tail fur which begins at the base and grows larger all the way to the tip. Scaled along their backs, hips, and faces, though coverage can vary between individuals. Extremely secluded to kirin-based civilizations in frigid, flat environments, very rarely interacting with other races at all. Do not reproduce whatsoever, instead relying solely on their mother spirit, Awnscha (more on the spirits later), for new kirin. Made up entirely of magic from Awnscha’s hands, thereby requiring food only for energy and not survival, as well as capable of changing their bodies at will - such as into solid ice. Small permanent changes to the body are considered perfectly fine, but the form Awnscha has gifted a person is considered largely sacred. Partnerships are uncommon but not unheard of. Survivors of the winter. Qilin (Hybrid Offspring of Dragons and Kirin) - Traditionally, the two races despise each other in a way irreconcilable. However, during a brief burst of a peace attempt, many kirin and dragons joined together and, thanks to kirin magic making them compatible with any peoples if they so choose, ended up producing a new hybrid race entirely. No other kirin hybrid has exceeded a single generation but qilin went on to thrive. Huge, bulky people with a combination of kirin and draconic horns. Heavy, rectangular heads fit with sets of omnivorous teeth and a wide tongue. Massive manes that cover the chest completely, run down the back, and flare out again into the fluffiest tail of any race. Scaled down the back most frequently, but coverage varies wildly (always more than a kirin’s few patches but less than a dragon’s full skin). Muscular legs and big, snowshoe paws for travel; nomadic wanderers that often group together with either other races or more kirin and dragons, interacting occasionally with mono-genus cities but preferring to mingle among mixed civilization. Viable hybrids, meaning that either two qilin or a kirin and a dragon can produce a new qilin. Survivors of the winter. Avian Family (Birds) Gryphons - Large, muscular people covered entirely in feathers aside from a firm beak and talons on all four legs. Fanned, bird-like tails that can open or shut during flight, as well as feathered wings that fold in at the shoulder. Omnivorous, though teeth are extremely small and only for grinding up little foods and pieces. Plumage flares out around the base of the neck then gradually becomes smoother and smaller along the back. Three individuals are required to reproduce, and, even if not unified, all three tend to care for their offspring together. The best fliers of every race by a long shot. Highly magical, though in a different way than unicorns. Rather than abstract sorcery, they utilize a robust spell system more akin to wizardry. Magic is used on a day-to-day basis, but usually not new magic - gryphons use passive spells to set up systems, houses, and the like, tending to and upkeeping these spells daily. This has served to make architecture, agriculture, and other trades exceptionally fast and unique. Prefer high-altitude and sunny areas, most civilizations tending to claim land and then create enchanted cities in the clouds above it, forming a summer and winter-home system. Hypogriffs (Equine Ancestry) - The gryphons’ closest relative, stockier, slightly less feathered people with hooved back legs and equine heads lacking a beak. Omnivorous with a herbivore lean and capable of chewing through much larger, tougher food items. Though with a lot of practice they can also be skilled in the magical arts, they are exceptionally less naturally talented than their bird-like counterparts. Decent fliers, but prefer to spend more time on the ground and in fields. The same reproductive and environmental needs as grpyhons, frequently choosing to mesh with their civilizations and take up wide expanses of land that would go unused by gryphons. Cockatrice (Hybrid Offspring of Kerwyverns and Gryphons) - Being great fliers and having a tendency to mix themselves in other communities, kerwyverns repeatedly lean towards gryphon civilization, becoming strong trade partners if not adapting into gryphon nations and cities entirely. This has resulted in the cockatrice hybrid - but, strangely enough, cockatrice are not skilled fliers whatsoever and spend virtually no time in the sky. Initially were relocated closer to hyprogriffs where they could be on the ground, and, eventually, due to being viable hybrids, spread out completely independent from either parent race and formed their own culture and communities. Modern day, they are usually found in tribes and large bands on wide open plain spaces as well as, occasionally, hotter, more rocky areas. Omnivores with a carnivorous and insectivore lean. Beaks, fanned tails, and feathered wyvern-like forearms. One of only two konphair races with a unique back leg structure that allows them to stand on two legs for an extended period of time. Carried a little magic over from their gryphon parentage, but only enough for small enchantments. Mammalian Family (Cats) Manticores - Hardy, lion-like people, bearing horns, four paws, and fur all along their body with larger manes and tufts around the neck and tail. Nowhere near hydras or wyverns, but particularly large when compared to the other average-sized races. Massive wings, larger than a dragon’s but smaller than a gryphon’s, webbed and useful for short flights. Despite this, they spend most of their time on the ground, in the hottest climates that exist on Konphair. Carnivorous, as little plantlife grows in the volcanic and desert regions they thrive in. Venomous fangs fold in beside canines, a product of the unique bacteria in their stomach interacting with blood of prey, which can then be transferred to a pouch in the mouth. Much like dragons, this venom can be ignited into flame, but it is usually used in its liquid form. Very often form tight bonds with one partner and children are seen as an incredibly important step in these bonds. Camares - Quite similar to dracofeirs in build, though larger, stockier, and generally more robust. Strong legs, the front two clawed and the back two pawed, as well as huge, scooping horns for lifting and carrying. Although furred across their whole body, they have a particularly large mohawk of fur that runs from the forehead back to the base of the tail, well-maintained in order to serve as protection from the sun while working. Muscular prehensile tail and wide, bulky hips. Stronger venom but weaker capability of fire breath. Share similar dietary, environmental, etc. needs with manticores, often found in regions as close as possible to them. Partnerships are also quite strong, but often less attention is given to them comparatively to their big cat cousins. Chimeras (Hybrid Offspring of Manticores and Camares) - Manticores and camares share needs almost exactly and thereby are often required to ‘share’ land, but this has left the two in an ongoing feud most anytime their communities are close together. Although their hostility is much less violent and set in history than, say, the enmity between dragons and kirin, this likewise produced the occasional peace movement that promptly fizzled out and left behind the remnants of a hybrid. But chimeras have been appearing since manticores and camares have been anywhere in a close vicinity to one another, and the importance placed on couples and children in both cultures left the unusual parents extremely defensive of their hybrid offspring. As a result, although chimeras are not viable and cannot reproduce with each other, they are not all that uncommon of a sight near manticore or camare civilizations. Carnivorous and two-headed, each with a different personality and mind but capable of reading the other effortlessly. That’s about where the uniformity in chimeras end, though; they almost always have manes, horns, and paws, but a variety of fur placement, claws, wings, horn shape, head shape, and the like can appear. Do enjoy partnerships although rarely go out of their way to have them sanctified, and adopting children is quite common. Dinonek - The largest and longest lived of the mammalian family, carrying a substantial scaled shell on their back with dense fur along their body anywhere the scales don’t reach, especially prevalent under the chin and tail. Sizeable curved horns, rigid, scaled noses, and clawed forelimbs, all great for digging holes, burrows, and nests, as well as sturdy back legs for standing up in a posture similar to a pangolin. Venomous barbs hidden under tail fur that can be retracted or extended at will, but are omnivorous and use them mainly for self defense. Live in arid deserts and sandy areas, making anywhere from temporary nests in the ground for a span of a night to intricate underground rock and sand systems that can permanently house many. Almost always form small clans and family clusters of dingonek that sleep, build, trade, and travel together, but will often accept trusted non-dingonek members in as readily as they would their own children. Require two individuals to produce eggs but will happily partner with more people depending on personal preference. Tatzelwurm (Annelid Ancestry) - Only a few times larger than amphipteres and lindwurms, tatzelwurms are the smallest mammalians by far. Carnivores with a taste for small birds, rodents, and large insects. Long, slender bodies with pawed forelegs and no hind legs. Fluffy across their whole body with a mane that races their spine. Thin, tall horns and small sharp-toothed jaws excellent for crunching fragile bones in prey. Thrive in humid woodland areas, one of the only peoples who share territory with amphipteres and such. Burrow in shallow holes or under tree roots. Mostly individual, usually only forming small family groups with just a partner and children if at all, but this serves them well to travel outside their home territory to other civilizations.
