you weren't sure if his bites were getting bigger or if he was starting to chew faster, but before you knew it your cheeks were full and he was already crumpling the wrapper to start his second burger, taking a casual sip from his soft drink.

it was laughable, honestly, the way you were still holding half your burger, cheeks almost painfully full, sauce extending your smile, unable to match his sip of burger-filled mouth as you tried your best to hold in your laughter. satoru none the wiser. effectively making you choke on a crumb that had you keeled over, shoulders jumping with your silent chuckles.

"woah, baby. baby, slow down." His voice full of concern, unwrapping his third burger before patting your back in attempt to clear your throat.

suguru always savored his food no matter what it was or how many times he's eaten it. it was great, you were glad he found solace in food considering the toll his curse technique had on his body and his relationship with food. you'd never ask him to change it, but now that you've decided to partake in this silly internet challenge the rumble of your stomach has given you some regrets.

all you wanted to do was dig in, salivating at your steaming bowl of ramen. suguru sitting in front of you, a soft smile on his face as he carefully crafted a smaller ramen bowl in his soup spoon. chopsticks steady and meticulous as he let two noodles coil onto the spoon, dipping the edge of the ceramic into the soup until the noodles just barely peeked through. you sat there, noodles pinched by your chopsticks though still submerged in the broth as he slowly arranged green onions, garlic, pork, fermented bamboo shoots and strips of dried seaweed onto the utensil.

"ah, here we go." he finally said, setting his chopsticks down making you bring your noodles out of the broth and up to your mouth until he reached for a small spoon full of chili oil.

"not that hungry yet, love?" he quirked his brows at you when he noticed your creaky movements as you waited for him, finally bringing his mini bowl of ramen into his mouth, letting the flavors melt on his tongue before starting his slow chew. you followed suit, taking a bite and a sip of the broth.

"so hungry, suguru," you comedically sniffled to yourself, averting your gaze when he began repeating the process all over again.

kento was quick skewer the contents onto his fork or scoop his rice onto his spoon, but slow to chew. he'd been excited for this meal after all, waltzing into the kitchen with a pep in his step after leaving work on time, still in his tie as he rolled up his sleeves to begin cooking. the table ending up with a beautiful spread of new dishes that caught his attention in the magazine he picked up last weekend.

unsurprising, the conversation would be about his thoughts on how all the components melded together, how one highlighted another, what it reminded him of. always a memory of a place you two went to together, then a small smile gracing his lips as he tells you that the two of you should go there again in the future. he'd ask you your thoughts, lips forming a small o as he listened to your suggestion of adding a little bit of that the next time he wanted to cook the dish.

the only thing surprising about trying to match his pace was actually how much bread he consumed, which you hadn't realized before until you felt like bursting at the seams when he picked up his forth roll-- a new recipe with his homemade garlic oil painted on top. you'd given up a while ago, choosing to enjoy the food he cooked, his love for bread unmatched. your head in your hand as you watched him chew, anyone on the outside would've assumed that he was eating out of necessity, but under your gaze you were blinded by the sparkle in his eyes as the flavors danced on his tongue. the momentary pause of his jaw as he conjured up a tweak in the recipe to bring it to the next level.

you honestly weren't even going to try matching his pace. he devoured. the short skewers of yakitori disappearing into his mouth in an instant, the only thing able to pull you from your amazement was the soft 'ahhhh' he let out as he widened his mouth to accept the food. he barely took the time to finish chewing before bringing another skewer to his mouth. meals with toji usually ended with him running a lithe tongue over his lips, patting his stomach before eyeing whatever was left on your plate.

"gonna finish that?" he asked, hand already reaching whether you were done with your food or not.

he hummed to himself as you walked side by side just having left the restaurant.

"a branch from a sendai restaurant just popped up, want to try their gyutan with me?"

ah, toji's bottomless stomach and his love for meat.

🔥 authentic versions of food

This is from an American perspective, which I do think matters cuz otherwise this might get misinterpreted. But the hunt for "authentic" food is a shitty ass game a lot of people use to be racist, especially towards Chinese American foods. I know in our circles it's a common opinion, but in the larger food community "not authentic" is a way white people shit on a lot of restaurants that are non white cultures who had to adapt their home cuisine to what ingredients were available and palatable to American tastes. This is used to keep places like these seen as dirty, unhealthy, and are supposed to be cheap. Ie Italian food is seen as this extreme luxury where you get charged $25 for a pasta you could make yourself spending $5 at Walmart, no specialized equipment or time, whereas a variety of family owned Chinese Restaurants have to put such a level of detail into every step (some places slaughter their own chickens) to be considered acceptable and are still criticized for charging more than like $11 for a mountain of food.

On the flip side, there's such a big trend of celebrity chefs taking another culture's food and bastardizing it so much that it's nothing like the original dish. You especially see this whenever Jamie Oliver decides up the task of like, anything really, he always wants to make things "healthy" and then makes the worst meal possible using bad cooking techniques that can ruin your cookware or make extra cleaning, where as if he did like 10 minutes of research he'd find there are easier, healthy versions of said dish that already exist created by the home cultures chefs already. It's sad because it's once again a way to teach people about other food cultures and other ways of cooking, but instead we often get these celeb chefs pushing out "content" to feed the machine that has no value in the food world.

Luke has opened his mind a lot more in the Devildom, it was all thanks to you, Barbatos, Simeon and Solomon that he was able to.

Luke was able to bond with you due to the fact that you managed to shield Luke in order to protect him from Lucifer’s anger.

Ever since then, Luke has been following you around. He often asks you for your personal opinion on his clothes, essays, baking techniques and desserts. He's created in the kitchen.

Luke often loves to invite you over for lunch, he looks up to you as a person and thinks you’re extremely brave. He seeks your input in things, even if he never admits it.

With Barbatos he at first never trusted him in general. Barbatos makes him feel uncomfortable. He deemed Barbatos untrustworthy.

However Simeon pushed him to go ask Barbatos for advice for baking. Luke eventually caved in because he looked up to Simeon.

Once Luke did seek out advice from Barbatos he was extremely fidgety and trying to put his words together clearly embarrassed asking help from a demon. Barbatos with a smile took Luke under his wing and began to teach him tricks for baking.

Luke was extremely happy to be learning more and more with the help of Barbatos. Luke often seeked his help. Thanks to Barbatos, Luke was able to open his mind towards others especially since he was from a society that hates demons and that are closed minded.

Because you were married to Barbatos you were often invited to Barbatos baking lessons with Luke. Luke was extremely joyful to see you arriving as a surprise guest.

These were small interactions while the three of you silently cooked and baked, Barbatos always gave you a small smile and kissed your cheek while Luke was focused on stirring.

The three of you all began to hang out constantly, sometimes Luke would invite you both to tea parties or Barbatos would invite you both to play a simple board game. You can tell he was fond of you both.

These exchanges were daily and appreciated.

HEADCANONS - M.ENOGIAS

lantern rite has prompted so many thoughts about him so. here is an assortment of hcs i've been working on regarding my favourite fashion designer adeptus-

m.enogias has markings elsewhere on his body, not just on his face. similar to b.osacius, he has designs that extend over his shoulders and down his back, and his arms. these markings are very similar to z.hongli's (as a fellow geo), but are more subtle and not quite as detailed. as seems to be the common trend with both m.orax & the yaksha, his skin also shifts into an amber-yellow from the forearms down to his hands.

mt. hulao was his "home" prior to his death. it's already an established hc of mine that m.orax buries his crystal heart under the mountain after his death & this is where he wakes again in his current timeline verse. whilst alive, he spent his "free time" either on mt. hulao or in the surrounding vicinity and would often be found there when away from his yaksha siblings. my reason for this is tied with the following hc-

mountain shaper and m.enogias are connected. old friends and allies, mountain shaper and m.enogias fought together during the archon war - perhaps m.enogias was even something like a mentor. mountain shaper's colour scheme (red, orange, brown, black) lends itself to either geo or pyro - his use of amber as geo constructs suggests the former rather than the latter, and with my hcs regarding m.enogias' geo abilities, this could be something he learned from the yaksha (and then cultivated by madame ping). mt. hulao was always mountain shaper's domain, but this is why m.enogias favoured it & spent a lot of time there (and why m.orax then buried his crystal heart beneath it).

he's a tall boy & not as slender as his appearance might suggest. whilst not as built as b.osacius, he does possess a fair amount of muscle, though his choice of garments often disguises this. in his human form he stands around 6'4 (193cm). in his illuminated beast form, he is around 6'8 (203.2cm).

he is not adept at cooking (pun intended). whilst not terrible - he's not going to poison anyone, for example - he will struggle with more complex dishes & therefore tends to stick to simple ones if he is cooking for himself or others. given that adepti don't need to eat, it's something he's never dedicated much time to learn.

many existing dye recipes are of his making. we know clothing design is his passion & his stubborn nature means he will stop at nothing to perfect his work. trying to recreate the natural colours of the world into fabrics became a side hobby of his, and he spent many, many hours combining materials to create different dyes. those that were successful were then eventually passed down and shared amongst those in the trade.

his scars resemble kintsugi pottery. in his current timeline verse, the only scars he bears are those left by b.onanus, but any future injuries that leave a lasting mark will appear the same.

he is (one of) the calmest of the yaksha, typically, but this is not always the case. m.enogias practices a lot of meditation & mindfulness techniques in order to keep his more capricious nature under control, and he is also in possession of a fierce temper that, when triggered, can be quite destructive. because of this, he exudes a very calm, soothing aura which others can find very relaxing.

he can also be incredibly mischievous. calm and quiet does not mean sensible - he is fond of harmless pranks, enjoys teasing his siblings, and can be rather playful.
