My cook books (minus a few)
@sassy-pen
Starting with the prettiest:
Blue one is from 1917, red one doesn't actually has a year (Reprint from 1991) but I guess the original is from the 1900s or even earlier looking at the illustrations. The Dr. Oetker is a reprint, OG is from 1895.
The last Dinner on the Titanic, and Downtown Abbey cookbooks, I love tea sandwiches.
Those two are from the 1920s. And it shows, there are a lot cheap recepies.
30s and 40s. Not pictured are a few more I got from the 40s, as well as cut out pages from american cookbooks(I think a few are from magazines but idk) from the 50s.
Now I would love to know how the left picture ended up here... its from the early 80s. The boy scout one I bought.
Austria-Hungary.
Fandom cook books.
Normal cook books, 50s and onward.
More normal cook books.
And the best for last
Potatoes and nothing else.

Today is "Bake Cookies Day" and we're PUMPED.
The first image is from our copy of the Rumford Cook Book and has some recipes for Hermits, Oatmeal Cookies, Sand Tarts, and Cocoanut Cream Cookies. These recipes look pretty easy, just don't forget your Rumford Baking Powder!
The second image is a print advertisement for Saran Wrap, a product of the Dow Chemical Company. The advertisement features a plate of cookies being covered in Saran Wrap, which is perfect for today!
Image citations: Farmer, Fannie Merritt. “The Rumford Cook Book.” Providence, Rhode Island: Rumford Chemical Works, circa 1910.
Dow Chemical Company. “Dress Holiday Butter Cookies in the Best,” circa 1961. Advertisements from the Dow Chemical Historical Collection, Box 9. Science History Institute. Philadelphia.

I'm actually obsessed with media tie-in cook books. Because they range from a legitimate attempt to explore the food and culture of a fictional world to the lamest cash grab with mediocre chicken recipes called shit like "Turnip Troll Roasted Phoenix Wings."
