Today was one of the last college visits you had scheduled for the week, Becoming a transfer student was not something you had planned, but you no longer felt the desire you once felt as a freshman attending Ohio State University for the first time.
The dire decision was made to pick your top 5 schools and visit them, one of them being Uconn.
Traveling out of state was one obstacle, but attending a school that was strongly known for their sports was a different type of catch.
“Girl please!” your sister Breah scolded as she sat on the edge of the bed watching you go back and forth on what to wear. “Your best bet is to wear bright colors and stand out on this huge campus, do you know how many fine athletes walk around here daily?!” she spiraled, throwing herself on the bed to her detriment.
“Breah, we are not here for athletes remember? we’re here for a new environment and better educat-“
“DON’T give me that speech again, you have to realize college just isn’t about academics. Let yourself live a little at least”
You’ve heard that line at least 20 times this week, and it’s only Wednesday, yet you’d be lying to yourself if you said she was wrong.
“I am I am, I just want to get a good feel for everything before I make my decision y’know?” you said fiddling with your pedant that hung way too low on your chest for your liking.
“Oh, sis this is it! you must’ve for Paige Bueckers goes here” she stated sitting up swiftly, ready to defend her statement, she knew you’d disagree. “What more do you need from a University?”
An immediate nerve struck throughout your body listening to the words flow from her mouth at a fast pace. Your eyes couldn’t resist rolling, “You will not focus this visit all on one girl you saw on TikTok!, be so for real right now”
She busted out laughing from your reaction, almost as if she was in disbelief, “We both know she’s not just some girl y/n, she’s quite literally everywhere we look, social media, advertisements, I mean we haven’t even been on this campus for 30 minutes and I have seen her face on every poster possible!”
She wasn’t lying either, Paige’s face was plastered on every corner possible here in Connecticut. You didn’t even want to mention the TIktok epidemic that had flooded your “for you page” after liking one singular video.
“Yeah well she’s just.. a good player and-“
“She’s fine human and she just so happens to be good at many things, now let’s go tour this place, it’s going to be your new home for the next 3 years whether you like it or not” jumping from the spot she’s been sitting in for a prolonged amount of time, she grabbed your hand dragging you out the door from your shared suite. You didn’t feel the need to argue with her anymore, the feeling of nervousness began to replace the urge for another bickering episode between the two of you.
Moving the the double doors, the cool air hit your face sending goosebumps to greet your skin. “I thought it was supposed to be a little warmer down here”
“Mm.. me too but, maybe if we walk a little faster we’ll warm up, just hold tight in your cute little sweater” Breah beamed at you before continuing her tug at your hand walking toward a path with brick and a sidewalk that could barely fit two people.
“Do you even know where we’re going?, you’re just following your thoughts with no directions, can we at least ask someone where the student center is?” you pleaded, hoping her eager tangent would be put to a halt.
“No we’re fine, how hard can it be to find a brick building that literally has “student center” right in front of it. she panned shrugging her shoulders without a care in the world. There had to be at least 10 buildings that were brick and ironically, the names were not in big and bold letters.
The two of you stop dead in your tracks as you realize you’re now faced with 3 brick buildings that look nearly identical, unfortunately, there are no names, just 4 digit numbers painted and embossed on the front right above the large windows.
“How hard could it be right?” you mocked her, letting go of her hand, fishing for your phone in your back pocket in need google maps assistance.
"Well, I guess it's time to find out"
Before you could protest, her grip tightened on your hand as she led you right into the buildings, the automatic sliding doors revealed a spacious lobby, navy blue and white accent colors surrounded the walls.
The scent of warm amber and fresh linen filled the air, everything had a sense of calmness.
"You know.. you had a point about her face being everywhere" taking a couple of steps back trying to examine the huge headshot of Paige's face aligned against the wall, accompanied by the rest of her teammate’s pictures all in unison.
Your amusement quickly faded as you soon realized this was in fact, NOT where you were supposed to be.
"Breah this is not the right place!" barely reaching above a whisper, praying nobody noticed the two of you sticking out like sore thumbs.
"Well it might be.. maybe I can help, there's a map behind our pictures somewhere" an familiar voice chimed in with a soft yet high-pitched tone, causing your eyes to meet direct contact with a girl who was at least 3 times your height, big curly hair that nearly covered her eyes, vibrant brown skin that complemented her stature.
And to no surprise, she was wearing a "UCONN Women's Basketball" long-sleeve shirt with matching sweats accented in navy blue.
Great
"Um, that'd be great actually-" you paused frantically looking over all of the headshots searching for the familiar face that was standing nearly inches away from you.
"Oh! my fault, I'm Aubrey" she smiled pointing at her picture proudly.
She was stunning, her smile was perfect, your sister quickly caught onto the thought roaming through your mind.
"Oh! nice to meet you Aubrey, I'm Breah and this is my sister y/n!, we were looking for the student center, but this could work" interjecting herself with great stealth, it hardly ever fails.
You carefully watched Aubrey's body language as she shamelessly let her eyes wander between the two of you, her eyes drifting back to your sweater, you could nearly see the whirlwind behind her eyes, you could slowly feel the sensation of regret grow seemingly stronger within yourself, this was a terrible idea.
"I can walk you guys over there if you want, it's not that easy to find honestly" she shrugged, her tall frame leaned up against the wall, "but first, I think we need to take y/n to see the person who stole her fit" she smirked, motioning you to follow her lead down the long, brightly lit hallway"
"I- I'm sorry who??" you staggered trying to gain an answer from her, if she thought playing a joke on you about the sweater was going to reel you in, this was definitely the last time you'd be seeing this place.
You soon found yourself speed walking, trying to keep up with her legs was not anything you had prepared for. Glancing back to your sister behind you, she was smiling to herself admiring the entirety of the situation unfolding right before her eyes.
The three of you came to a stop mid-way through the pursuit, Aubrey opened a transparent door that led to a well-furnished living room, gray couches, maple brown tables, and of course, navy-colored carpet covered the floor.
Safe to say you were a sucker for good color coordination, that was until you saw a figure with colors that didn't match the area not one bit.
"Aye P look! I found your twin, Nikka has some competition now" Aubrey laughed gently patting your shoulder, her large hands held the weight you were not expecting, but the feeling soon subsided as your eyes met Paige’s blue irises. They were way brighter in person, but not as bright as her sweater as she was dressed in the same one you wore, a long white t-shirt flowed beneath hers that fit perfectly with her tall stature. Her cream-colored cargo pants had enough pockets for two people, yet she somehow made the outfit look so well put together.
She was gorgeous
“I mean I’d like to say I wear it better but, you look pretty good in it yourself” her eyes roaming your figure, causing heat to rise throughout your body, she knew exactly what she was doing.
Forcing a small smile to form upon your lips to prevent your knees from buckling, “Well thank you...” words were not forming in your brain “Where’d you get yours from? you asked pointing at her fit.
“I thrifted it” she said proudly, looking down as if it was her most proud possession. There’s no way a woman as wealthy as Paige willingly goes to the thrift store, or so you thought.
“Yeahh, what she won’t tell you is that I’m the one who found it for her” Aubrey chimed in shaking her head in disbelief “give credit when it’s due”
“Well you guys all have a good sense of fashion soo, why don’t you guys take pictures!” Breah examined yanking out her digital camera she had been dying to use ever since she bought it.
Paige laughed at her sudden burst of energy, but the idea riddled something in her mind. “We can go downtown and take some when the sun goes down, the scenery always looks better at night, it’ll make your colors pop”
“You mean our colors pop, you’re taking some flick’s too right?” hoped laced in your tone.
“Oh most definitely, I would never turn down the opportunity to take pictures with someone as beautiful as you"
Suddenly there was no need search any farther, you officially knew where you wanted to spend the rest of your years.

UPDATE 4:02pm EST: Mondoweiss has verified in their article that the family is asking "that no one make donations to fundraisers unless specifically organized by our families." Thanks to @justaboutsnapped for flagging this!
Three Palestinian college students were shot and wounded in Burlington, Vermont Saturday evening, local Vermont TV station WCAX reported. The victims, unnamed by police, reportedly include Brown undergraduate Hesham Awartani ’25, as well as Kinnan Abdelhamid and Tahseen Ahmed, students at Haverford College and Trinity College, respectively. Police statements did not identify a shooter or indicate that a suspect is in custody; the Council on American-Islamic Relations is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, The Messenger reported. The shooting took place at 6:25 p.m. Saturday, and safety personnel brought all three victims to the University of Vermont Medical Center, according to VTDigger. Awartani and Ahmed sustained serious injuries, according to a statement from their high school in the West Bank. The Arab American Anti-Discrimination Committee has called upon authorities to investigate the incident as a hate crime. The organization wrote in a statement that “the three victims were wearing a kuffiyeh and speaking Arabic. A man shouted and harassed the victims, then proceeded to shoot them." Brown is aware of the incident but could not confirm the identity of the victims, University Spokesperson Amanda McGregor wrote in an email to The Herald. “We received the difficult news from the family this morning that a Brown undergraduate currently enrolled in his junior year at the University is in the hospital after being shot while out of state for the Thanksgiving break,” McGregor wrote. “We’re not at liberty to release details about his health status or his identity, but we are actively offering care to the family and support to our student, as well as members of our campus community.” All three students attended Ramallah Friends School in the West Bank before attending college in the U.S., according to a Facebook post from the school. “Ramallah Friends School board, administration, staff and community are deeply distressed by the recent incident involving three of our graduates, Hisham Awartani, Kinnan Abdel Hamid and Tahseen Ahmed who were shot and injured last evening in Burlington, VT,” the school wrote in the post. “While we are relieved to know that they are alive, we remain uncertain about their condition and hold them in the light. We extend our thoughts and prayers to them and their families for a full recovery, especially considering the severity of injuries,” the statement continued. “We stand united in hope and support for their well-being during this challenging time.” [...] Basil Awartani, who identified himself as Hisham Awartani’s cousin, shared in a post on X that “My cousin Hisham has been shot in the back while walking with his friends in Burlington for simply wearing kuffiyehs and speaking Arabic. Dangerous performative rhetoric from US pundits and politicians as well as constant dehumanization of Palestinians has a real-life cost.”
-- "Brown junior among three Palestinian students shot in Vermont Saturday night" from Brown Daily Herald, 26 Nov 2023 12:36pm EST
Kinnan Abdelhamid is a student at Haverford College in Pennsylvania and Tahseen Ahmed is a student at Trinity College in Connecticut. Their current condition is unknown.

COVENTRY — UConn women’s basketball star Azzi Fudd knew there would be challenges when she suffered a season-ending ACL tear just two games into her junior year, but she wasn’t prepared for the snowy sidewalks in Storrs.
Recovering from surgery at her family home in Arlington, Virginia, wasn’t easy, but it was straightforward. Her parents brought her meals down to her bedroom. She could hobble up the short flight of stairs to spend time with her younger brothers. When she returned to Connecticut, Fudd was confronted by the reality that even walking to and from her car would be hugely difficult.
“Trust me, I had my moments. … When I went back to campus, I only had one in-person class but I still had class, and it was snowing,” Fudd said with a chuckle. “Even just from outside to the gym is still a 20-foot path with snow, and at that point I was kind of walking, but it was very awkward. It was just a bunch of little things that I didn’t think would be an issue.”
Fudd tore her right ACL and medial meniscus during a practice on Nov. 14, 2023, days before the Huskies played their third game of the season at home against Maryland. She underwent season-ending surgery in early December. The former No. 1 overall prospect in the class of 2021 has played just 40 games over three years at UConn.
Fudd’s days of struggling down the sidewalk felt far away though as she demonstrated a shooting drill she runs as part of her daily workouts for a group of enraptured attendees during her youth basketball camp at Coventry High School on Sept. 21. The release NBA superstar Stephen Curry once compared to Klay Thompson’s looks as smooth and automatic as ever as she moves from spot to spot, first in the midrange, then around the 3-point arc. She makes every single one — her mom, Katie, who helps run the camp, quips after a ball circles the rim before falling that it counts as a miss.
Fudd is quick to clarify though: She still can’t play. The redshirt junior still needs to clear a final set of tests with her doctors before she can participate in contact or game-speed activities at practice. Fudd knows she should appreciate how far she’s come, but the star guard feels herself itching to be back in the actual game, that last layer of limitation almost taunting her
“I feel like this has tested my patience in a different way,” Fudd said. “I feel really good and I feel like I could be, not playing 100%, but I could be doing more. But I’m taking my time and making sure that I’m perfecting the stuff that I am doing in the phase that I’m in before I progress to the next step, which I know it’s good for me. It’s very frustrating at times, but … it’s just reminding myself that I’ve been through this and I know it’s going to pay off.”
Fudd grappled with injuries throughout her previous two seasons at UConn — she missed 11 games with a nagging foot issue her freshman year, and 22 with an unrelated knee injury as a sophomore — but the pop in her knee last November was sickeningly familiar. Fudd knew exactly what an ACL tear felt like, because she had already experienced the injury. She tore the ACL and MCL, also in her right knee, during a USA Basketball U18 3×3 tournament in 2019 and missed her entire junior season of high school.
At 15 years old, Fudd remembers completely falling apart after doctors confirmed the severity of her injury. But when it happened again five years later, Fudd’s mind went straight to beginning recovery. She knew the pain she was about to experience, but she also knew what to expect from the lengthy rehab process. She came back from it once, and that gave her certainty that she could do it again.
“My first one I remember my car ride from my MRI, and I was just crying and crying the whole time. It was so bad,” Fudd said. “This one, I heard and it processed, and I was like, ‘Damn, okay. What’s next?’
“It’s been so completely different having been through it and knowing what to expect. Knowing how hard it is, but also knowing that I can handle it and I’m gonna overcome it has also been helpful.”
Though there were also two tears involved in Fudd’s last major knee injury, the meniscus tear slowed the healing process more dramatically than the MCL did back in 2019. Then she could throw herself into rehab almost immediately, but she spent weeks after surgery in Arlington unable to put any weight on the leg. Fudd said her saving grace during the early days of recovery was her family, so much so that it made her transition back to UConn for the spring semester more jarring than she expected.
“I was home for like a month, and first of all, I hadn’t been home for that long since probably COVID,” Fudd said with a laugh. “But they were everything I needed. My brothers, my parents, even my grandma who could barely keep herself together, they were all helping me with everything I needed … Going back to school was really rough for me. I didn’t realize how much my family was doing for me, and just the ease of going to see my PT guy and home and then coming home to get in my bed.”
But Fudd quickly found a new form of comfort in a band of teammates who were also grappling with the heartbreak of season-ending injuries and the grueling work of rehab. The team was fully healthy on the day Fudd tore her ACL except for redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy, who ruptured her Achilles at the FIBA U19 World Cup over the summer. By the time Fudd returned to campus in January, there were three more players sidelined for the year: Caroline Ducharme with head and neck spasms, Ayanna Patterson after patellar tendonitis surgery and Aubrey Griffin with her own ACL tear.
“I had an entire squad of injured people with me on the bench, which obviously is not what you want, but it was nice to know I wasn’t alone,” Fudd said. “I couldn’t imagine being the only injured person. Like we had our crippled powwow before games where we were just like man, we’re not playing. It could be the Final Four or some random Big East game, and we’re not out there. Just being able to feel that and be vulnerable with other people experiencing that goes a long way.”
thanks anon 💞

“Tork laughed in the easy, carefree way which seems to be so characteristic. ‘It’s amazing how thrilling life has gotten how that I’ve learned how to live it,’ he said. ‘There are two kinds of pains — the pain from growing up and the pain from refusing to grow at all.’” - article by Lisa Stenza, Connecticut Daily Campus, February 26, 1982 “There are two kinds of pain. One is the pain of growing up. The other is the pain of refusing to do so. To my mind, the first is better because although it’s infinitely more difficult to deal with, at least it changes. It [pauses] somehow gets better.” - Peter, The Gazette, May 27, 1982

She was all he could ever think about, she was his perfect girl, she could do no wrong, she was always on time for lessons & homework, her essays were phenomenal, she was gorgeous, her dark brown eyes, her brunette hair that laid across her shoulders or flowed against her skin whenever she took a single step. Her voice smooth like honey, her smile as bright as the stars within the night sky, she was a ballet dancer & a perfect one at that. He was obsessed with her.
Zoe Caterina was the full of epitome of perfection to him, everything she did had such grace & class tied into it, she was his A+ girl, and he wouldn’t let anybody get in the way of that. No matter what.
Zoe was just obsessed with him as he was with her, His voice spoke in a delicate yet deep manner anytime he was teaching, his hand gliding over her arm sometimes when he went to her desk to examine her notes or whatever it was when she was enthralled into her homework.
The way he left sweet notes on the corner of her papers involve “I’m proud of you” “Good job sweetheart” “You did so good for me on this assignment.” She knew it wasn’t how he normally treated students, but that meant she was special, he found her special. She didn’t just want him, she needed him.
The way he entertained her flirting & even flirted back with her a little bit made her feel like she was melting slowly into a puddle, She needed him.
6:30 AM October 1st 2023, Connecticut
Zoe laid in her dorm that was shared with her bestfriend Alice who was staring down the T.V as the news repeated words of a murder scene that was being investigated on campus, Zoe huffed as she sat up on her bed “You think they’re gonna call today off?” Alice scoffed and ran her hand down her face before grabbing her coat “Fuck no. CTU Couldn’t give a single shit about this, I’m off to class anyways so that should answer your question.”
Zoe watched as Alice left the dorm leaving her by herself “Shit..” the brunette climbed her way out of bed and decided to wear something warm since fall had arrived & it was beginning to be a tad bit chilly.
Her only schedule for the day was to attend Mr Rhodes’ lesson for the day in Psychology which is what she was majoring in. After that she would then go to her daily ballet lesson she grew up taking per parents request. Zoe was a straight A student & made it clear to everyone that she would graduate and be a successful woman.
Zoe’s boots pattered against the semi damp concrete ground as a light rain came through, she inhaled the refreshing scent of rain & the fall weather all together and felt a wave of relaxation rush through her body before entering the lecture hall & making her way to class. She was always on time before everyone else so she could get the best seat in class for her comfortability, Mr Rhodes looked up from the assignments he was grading and watched as the young lady gently sat her bag down next to her seat as she unpacked everything she would need for today’s notes. He loved her organization.
“Aren’t you all snuggled up today” he called out towards her in a teasing manner as he examined the leggings she wore underneath her plaid skirt, she wore a fluffy brown sweater followed by her scarf & boots clearly showing she was quite cozy & warm, Zoe looked over at him & smiled shortly “Well It seemed chilly out, And I wanted to be as warm as possible.” She added before walking down the short steps to approach his desk “You seem dapper as usual” she stated while examining the suit he wore followed by reading glasses that sat perfectly against his black hair “Yeah well you know me sweetheart, I like to keep things classy.” He let a faint smirk appear on his face before watching her hum in response “Well you look good Mr Rhodes, I always thought the suits looked rather dashing on you.” He chuckled lightly at her compliment before nodding in agreement “Thank you doll, now go take a seat, get comfortable.”
She smiled politely and went back to sit down as other students scattered into the classroom, Zoe liked sitting alone, she liked having personal space & being able to listen thoroughly to what he was teaching without any distractions. However it was slowly becoming difficult for her despite the personal space.
She was currently auditioning for the main role within swan lake for a Ballet show & one of her classmates Nina was also auditioning for the tole, Nina was a competitive girl and this meant she would be making Zoe’s life hell for as long as she possibly could, whether it was in Ballet or for Mr Rhodes attention.
Zoe scrabbled down notes into her notebook as she listened and soaked in every word he spat out. Nina sat 3 rows behind her snickering into one of her friends’ ear “teachers pet.” The group all giggled and whispered causing Mr Rhodes to turn around in their direction and pull of his glasses “Nina is there something you’d like to share?” The girl froze “I- Wel- I was just-“ He raised an eyebrow and looked over at Zoe who was watching everything unfold before crossing his arms “You were just disrupting the lesson? Picking on another student for actually paying attention? I suggest you quiet down a bit before you make yourself seem more ignorant than you already are.”
Zoe smirked to herself before looking back down at her notes as she listened to him embarrass Nina in-front of everyone. After class she put everything away & was the last one to leave the room, Mr Rhodes placed a hand on her lower back & sighed “I’m sorry about that doll, Don’t let her distract you she’s just..bored” the girl smiled up at him & nodded her head in understanding “Y’know I never get distracted. I’m one of your top passing students.” She chirped back proudly as he chuckled and pat her lower back “you know, If you having nothing going on you can join me at Ballet, not actually join, join, but just..observe” she suggested softly while her hands lightly gripped at the ends of her skirt as he stood in silence for a bit & tried thinking, usually after this period he had 2 hours of free time, “I don’t see why not, I’d like to see your talents.” She smiled widely from ear to ear as she quickly started walking and had him follow behind her. As the two walked down the hallway laughing talking about whatever Nina stood in a corner grasping onto a pillar as she stared them down and glared directly at Zoe..
After a solid 20 minutes of walking the pair ended up in the Ballet Studio, Mr Rhodes sat in the observation section while Zoe adjusted her pointe shoes to her liking as she sat in her black leotard with her hair up, he watched as a guy approached her in completely slum like clothes clearly high out of his mind, “yooo, Mae’s been calling you, we’re all planning to sleepover at her place tonight since that whole murder scene shit from this morning is worrying her.” Zoe looked up at the guy causing Mr Rhodes to raise his eyebrow & watch the scene unfold as a wave of jealousy soured through him.
“Shit, I uh- I don’t know if I can Keith, I have to finish an essay by tonight, but tell her I’ll be safe yeah?” Keith..who the fuck names their kid Keith? Mr Rhodes thought before paying more attention “got it, man this shit is crazy you better be careful getting home, you never know who’s out there.” Zoe smiled as she nodded at his words, once he walked off her instructor made her and other girls get up and start stretching before the woman announced who would be the Prima Ballerina for Swan Lake. Nina walked into practice fashionably late & shoved her bag onto the ground while glaring down Zoe, she lined up with everyone and started stretching & noticed Mr Rhodes sitting & watching.
A surge of embarrassment drowned her for her current actions making her focus & act more properly and professional in hopes of impressing him the way Zoe does, but his eyes weren’t focused on Nina. They were focused on Zoe, the way he stared at her made Nina feel jealous & even angry. Something in her snapped, as the girls stood still for the announcement Mr Rhodes became slightly alarmed with the way Nina glared down at Zoe, The ballet instructor cleared her throat as she spoke out to her students “Since Satia is sick she will not be the Prima Ballerina of this Years Swan Lake, as some of you know we just finished auditions for this role but we have decided that our Prima Ballerina will be Zoe. She has shown great determi-“ Nina screamed out in frustration and turned towards Zoe and showed her so hard to the point where her ankle was sprained once she hit the floor “SHE DOESN’T EVEN DESERVE THAT FUCKING ROLE! SHE CAN’T EVE-“ The instructor turned and glared at the red head who was shouting in pure rage and envy “ENOUGH Nina!”
Everyone rushed towards Zoe as she held her ankle the instructor called out for anyone who was with Zoe to please come get her, Mr Rhodes sprinted out of the observation room & quickly came to her saving “I’m with her-“ Zoe stared up at her instructor with a stern look “I’m not giving up this role Mrs Venn, It’s only a swollen ankle I can do i-“ “Alright fine. Just be careful alright?” The instructor sighed as Keith also ran in the room to help the other man pick up Zoe “Nice suit man” Mr Rhodes furrowed his eyebrows & shook his head “Yeah thanks.” He held Zoe close to him bridal style as his free hand grabbed her bag that sat in a corner “let’s get you home yeah?” Nina sat as she was hysterical crying and shoving away her classmates as she watched him carry off Zoe.
The brunette gave him her address & eventually after walking with her in his arms they finally got to her dorm, he crouched lower so she could be able to unlock her door & come inside, He sat her down on the bed she pointed towards and sighed “You alright doll? Hows your ankle?” She sighed shrugging as she sat in her bed “I’m fine Mr Rho-“ “Cody. You can call me Cody outside of class.” Noted. “i’m fine Cody. It’s nothing but a small sprain, I’ll be better by tomorrow.” He smiled at her positivity “I don’t know how you do it sweetheart, keep things positive. I’ll handle Nina in class tomorrow morning.” Zoe smiled and suddenly got a thought “Hey un- I hope I’m not overstepping but I was wondering since you here..Can I get your number incase of an emergency? Y’know since all of this murder scene stuff & Nina going psycho..?” Cody smiled “It would be no problem at all sweetheart.” He dug in the back pocket of his pants and had her type in her phone number & sent her a quick test text. The girl smiled widely.
She needed him.
“I better start heading out beautiful, rest easy alright? If you can’t come to class tomorrow don’t even worry about it. I’ll mark you down as present for your perfect track record.” Zoe smiled at his kindness and nodded her head “Thank you Mr Rh-Cody, I appreciate it.” And with that Cody left her alone in the dorm room, the door shut behind him & she sat there thinking about what all happened today. Her mind surfaced back towards to Cody, His black hair, His voice, His strength proving carrying her was lighter than a feather. The way he spoke to her in a sweet manner ‘Sweetheart’ ‘Doll’, the way his fingers grazed her skin, the way he rushed over to her in a panic, she needed him. Zoe sighed out softly as she ran her fingers down her leotard down towards the depths of her thighs.

Helping Athletes and Raising Men:
A Look Into Peter Falla’s Life
Pete Falla, who grew up in Norwalk, Connecticut, still resides there to this day. He and his wife, Kathleen Falla have two sons and a dog, which inspires them to give their all each and every day to make a difference. Pete works as an athletic trainer and physical therapist. He is beloved by the community and for almost thirty years, he’s been wrapping ankles, handing out ice, and inspiring young athletes.
Pete Falla’s daily routine begins with his alarm waking him up in the morning. On a cold morning in Norwalk, Pete feels the need to start every morning early in order to truly prepare himself for what’s to come. After he gets himself ready, he awakens his kids and brings them to school before he goes to work. Every single day, Pete works to provide for his growing family and pursue his aspirations to better the lives of athletes across the town.

It’s these mornings in which Peter reflects on his day to come. The relaxing noises of the car drive to Greenwich help to calm him and prepare him for his change from the everyday dad to arguably the best athletic trainer, who is always dedicated to his athletes.
He starts his day at ONS (Orthopedic and Neurosurgery Specialists), where Peter works within the field of physical therapy. Here, he puts his years of knowledge and experience to use to help patients and athletes fully heal within their rehabilitation. Because he has experience in both athletic training and physical therapy, he can really personalize the treatments, which is in the favor of his patients.

When afternoon arrives, Pete finds himself at Greenwich High School. In his training room, Pete fosters a community in which athletes can socialize and find support. Pete believes whole-heartedly that training rooms deserve to be judgment-free zones, where athletes can express themselves and feel at home.
In the late afternoons and evenings, Pete resides at the high school. There, he watches over the games and practices taking place across the campus. His goal is to keep all of the kids healthy and happy on the field. Pete’s passion stems from helping others, and it’s this nature that makes him such an inviting and caring individual.
Within the walls of Greenwich High School lies Pete’s training room. In the new, state of the art athletic training facility, Pete tapes, evaluates, and rehabilitates his athletes in order to get them in the best shape possible to compete. “The training room in many high schools can act like a safe haven to athletes who all find themselves in a common situation dealing with injury”, Falla proclaims. The room is decorated with pictures of Pete’s family, tape, scissors and much more equipment to aid Pete throughout the day. One of his most prized possessions, his snack cabinet, holds the key to Pete getting through the long tedious days. The cabinet is a symbol of comfort, where Pete can go to get a tasty treat if he feels the need. Right below the cabinet is his old PC, where he types up injury reports, studies treatments, and watches away sports games.

His desk, while imperative to Pete’s success, isn’t the most important location in the training room. That designation would belong to his brand new treatment tables. On these leather covered, folding tables is where Pete exercises most of his practice. He can assess injuries quickly, assign treatment, and have athletes in and out of the training room efficiently due to the set up of the room. The athletes are free to use the table whenever they so please, which in turn leads to socialization as well. This area creates a common ground between everyone, and whether you’re an all-state caliber player, or a practice squad player, Pete says “It provides a quiet space to speak openly about their injuries without fear of judgment by the coaches or other teammates”.

Although he treats football players in all grades, Falla’s job isn’t what drives his love for the game. Born in Norwalk, Connecticut, Peter's background in the sport began at McMahon High School, where he proudly wore the blue and white of the Senators. As an athlete, he experienced the camaraderie, discipline, and thrill of competition that define the sport that is football. In his senior year, Peter emerged as a star, serving as captain and anchoring the offensive line at center—a role that demanded both physical prowess and strategic acumen. Peter attributes many of his skills to the game of football. He states, “It has a way of making you discover and grow personally in ways you never would expect, and sometimes you don’t realize until many years down the road.”

This quote rings true, especially with his journey as a father. His two sons, wearing the same colors as him, compete in the same sport he loves each and every day. According to Falla, he feels so lucky to have the opportunity to watch his boys play, and will be sad when that is no longer possible. Watching them compete brings a larger sense of importance to the game. "Seeing Drew and Colin out there, giving their all for the team, amplifies the sense of community and family that sports can foster," Peter shares. His job not only allows him to make a living, but also to be a father and watch his kids grow up before his own eyes.

After work, the Falla family spends time with each other, bonding over their days at the various schools they reside at. The three boys in the family find themselves at Greenwich High, where Kathleen Falla, Pete’s wife, finds herself teaching first grade at Cos Cob Elementary School. She was also lucky enough to witness her boys in action, except in her case, she saw the educational and social aspect of it. Their time together as a family is what motivates Pete to keep pushing.
Peter's story is a narrative of balance, dedication, and love—a testament to the impact of intertwining one's passions with family and community. As he looks forward to another day, the personal fulfillment gleaned from his sons' achievements on the field and his own contributions off it reaffirm the indelible mark he makes on the lives he touches, both as an athletic trainer, a physical therapist, and a father.
Pete Falla is beloved by his community, and for good reason. Always rocking his signature smile, Pete makes sure to shed a positive light on any situation. He often receives chants from Greenwich’s student section such as, “Pete the Trainer! Pete the Trainer! Pete the Trainer!”. This just goes to show what being a good trainer and an even better human does for a community, and how life has it’s way of rewarding those who strive to make the world a better place.

YOUNG REPUBLICANS OFFSHOOT HOLDS FIRST EVENT
By Josh Morrison
The most recent registered organization on campus, the Students for Corporate Independence, held its first event last night in Connecticut Hall. The evening opened with remarks from the club’s president Robertson Wycoff ‘93, regarding the club’s interest and mission statement. Wycoff then encouraged members and onlookers to mingle and enjoy refreshments.
Though its name is broad, the Students for Corporate Independence was founded in response to a sole point of contention among the Young Republicans—the issue of apartheid. Members of the young republicans have been split into two camps about the crisis in South Africa, mostly over whether or not the United States should intervene. Campuses across the country have weighed in on the issue, with protests advocating for disinvestment from South African businesses cropping up at Harvard University and Smith College, among others. The Students for Corporate Independence split off from the Young Republicans led by Wycoff refused to support calls for disinvestment at Yale.
Wycoff’s involvement comes as a surprise to some, especially since he is a student-athlete for the lacrosse team. Despite his time commitment to his sport, he has devoted much of his energy to getting the Students for Corporate Independence off the ground, citing his passion for the right to make choices for ourselves.
“Is it segregation? Yes. But is divestment the best way to solve this issue—crippling the economy and threatening the poorest in South Africa’s livelihoods? Not to mention the government’s attempted overreaches to make these choices for corporations,” Wycoff said during the meeting. “The United States had its own stain with segregation—luckily we are long past that being an issue—but any intervention from foreign governments to force integration would have been tantamount to an overthrow.”
Following Wycoff’s speech, new club members dined on snacks from South Africa-based businesses.
“Now this tastes like freedom,” Wycoff quipped. “Democrats are missing out.”

Apartheid Protest Turns Chaotic After Scuffle
By Will O’Donnell
Four students were taken into custody by campus police last night after a peaceful protest against apartheid was met with resistance from counter protesters. Star lacrosse player Robertson Wycoff, president of Students for Corporate Independence and Class of ‘93, organized the counter protest after he heard students would be gathering in front of Commons to call on the Yale board of trustees to divest its endowment from South African businesses and investments.
According to onlookers, protesters held up signs and sang songs in between speeches from student leaders and faculty members. Once Wycoff’s group arrived, however, things quickly escalated, with Wycoff addressing the protesters with a megaphone.
“Wasting your time on a country halfway around the world! Get a job!” he said as he approached the seated protesters. “Or better yet, learn to mind your business.”
“Students were feeling uncomfortable about the counter protesters getting in their faces, and we don’t want anyone feeling unsafe,” Campus Police Chief Matthew Donn said. "Then came the yelling and shoving, so we got involved to settle things down.”
A student who was one of the initial protesters was taken to the infirmary with swelling on the ankle. She was discharged later in the evening.
YALE DAILY NEWS, WEDNESDAY, MARCH [?]
Wycoff Enters YCC Race
By Kevin Adams
Robertson Wycoff (Class of 1993), the firebrand at the helm of the polarizing organization Students for Corporate Independence, announced his intent to run for president of the Yale College Council yesterday morning. Flyers appeared on lampposts and bulletin boards early yesterday touting Wycoff’s run and a kickoff speech in the afternoon. Hundreds of students attended the event, which included an appearance by the Yale lacrosse team and members of the Pom Squad.
“I am proud to announce my run for YCC president, and especially honored to do so with the support of my brothers on the lacrosse team,” Wycoff said. “If I am elected, I will serve every student to the best of my ability, whether they’re dealing with an academic issue or want cooler people to come perform on campus.”
While Wycoff is best known for his play on the field, he has garnered disdain from progressive members of the student body for his leadership in the Students for Corporate Independence, a club against economic sanctions for apartheid South Africa. Earlier this year, he was taken into campus police custody for a fight that broke out during an anti-apartheid protest. Wycoff was later cleared of any wrongdoing.
“To say we disagree only on economic policy is a disservice to the cause,” Maya Albertson, a well-known activist on campus and ‘94, said. “He has more in common with segregationists. Wouldn’t be surprised if he had his own Klan robes.”
Wycoff faces opposition from Charles Rhoades, Jr., a third-year in Saybrook College, and Ramona Blackburn, a member of Trumbull College and ‘93. A debate featuring all the candidates will be held in three weeks.

“When he was nine years old, Peter Tork’s parents bought him a piano for $15. He taught himself to play and read music. But then his parents delivered an ultimatum: either take piano lessons or don’t touch the piano again.” - article by Lisa Stenza, Connecticut Daily Campus, February 26, 1982 “I owe a lot to my piano lessons. At one point I switched from playing Beethoven and Mozart to theory. And I learned how to spell chords, you know like, ‘what’s an F# minor chord?’ and when I took up guitar I would say, ‘OK, what’s the next note in such-and-such a chord above the note on the string? How many frets do I have to get up to, to play a note that’s in the chord I want.’ And I came up with some unusual formations too, like that add-4 chord I mentioned earlier. [i.e.] [In ‘For Pete’s Sake’] the chord on the word ‘Everything,’ — which is a 7-add-4, which is a highly unusual chord. It sort of fell out of my hands on the guitar. […] I wrote a set of chords [in college] once and thought, ‘Gosh, this is great.’ I couldn’t think of anything to do with them. A couple years later I wrote ‘Can You Dig It,’ to those chords. They were… let’s see: D-minor to B-flat major 7th to an E diminished 9th chord. That’s a really interesting way to set it up to the V chord. Or to look at it another way: we’re in A — Arab scale, which is — I don’t want to get too heavy. But it’s an unusual scale in Western music, in pop music. And it worked fine for me. I was just really glad. It just fell out of my hands again. It really felt good.” - Peter Tork, Shanley On Music, 2014 (x)

Skull and Bones, also known as The Order, Order 322 or The Brotherhood of Death is an undergraduate senior secret student society at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The oldest senior class society at the university, Skull and Bones has become a cultural institution known for its powerful alumni and various conspiracy theories. It is one of the "Big Three" societies at Yale, the other two being Scroll and Key and Wolf's Head.
The society's alumni organization, the Russell Trust Association, owns the organization's real estate and oversees the membership. The society is known informally as "Bones", and members are known as "Bonesmen", "Members of The Order" or "Initiated to The Order”.
Skull and Bones's membership developed a reputation in association with the "power elite". Regarding the qualifications for membership, Lanny Davis wrote in the 1968 Yale yearbook:
“If the society had a good year, this is what the "ideal" group will consist of: a football captain; a Chairman of the Yale Daily News; a conspicuous radical; a Whiffenpoof; a swimming captain; a notorious drunk with a 94 average; a film-maker; a political columnist; a religious group leader; a Chairman of the Lit; a foreigner; a ladies' man with two motorcycles; an ex-service man; a negro, if there are enough to go around; a guy nobody else in the group had heard of, ever ...”
Like other Yale senior societies, Skull and Bones membership was almost exclusively limited to white Protestant males for much of its history. While Yale itself had exclusionary policies directed at particular ethnic and religious groups, the senior societies were even more exclusionary. While some Catholics were able to join such groups, Jews were more often not. Some of these excluded groups eventually entered Skull and Bones by means of sports, through the society's practice of tapping standout athletes. Skull and Bones remained fully male until 1992.
Skull and Bones has a reputation for stealing keepsakes from other Yale societies or from campus buildings; society members reportedly call the practice "crooking" and strive to outdo each other's "crooks". The society has been accused of possessing the stolen skulls of Martin Van Buren, Geronimo, and Pancho Villa.
The group Skull and Bones is featured in books and movies which claim that the society plays a role in a global conspiracy for world control. There have been rumors that Skull and Bones is a branch of the Illuminati, having been founded by German university alumni following the order's suppression in their native land by Karl Theodor, Elector of Bavaria with the support of Frederick the Great of Prussia,[or that Skull and Bones itself controls the Central Intelligence Agency.
