#thinkin too much about gortie side characters again.#sally this time and why she specifically talks about him the way she does #like dravo is obviously still shitty but to me he was. ‘just ‘neglectful #while sally actively hated and even felt terrorised by her own child #like. it’s not like i don’t understand her at all.#imagine you and your love don’t have much besides each other and your shop and you get pregnant and ready to raise a child #only for it to not be a child he didn’t and doesn’t cry ever and he learns everything so much sooner than most but then he never calls you #his parents and it’s not just a petty thing kids do sometimes you feel that he doesn’t see you as family and the worst part is that you #agree deep down #and as he gets older he doesn’t have any friends and actively rejects the notion of the entire concept #but then as time passes you hear about how he has entire groups of children following him and then several of them commit suicide #and that thing coming to sit with you and dravo at the dinner table says that he did what you did last week when the axe to chop wood broke #and you discarded it and got a new one #and he has these habits of ripping out flowers and making sure that they don’t regrow #and then you hear rumours about a friend’s daughter’s cat disappearing and think nothing of it #until you visit his tree house a month later and find a declawed cat and birds with clipped wings and crushed bugs that he keeps fondly #and then you see him with other children and they don’t know and his face is different and body language is entirely different #and were it not for the fact that you know better you would never see anything but a normal child #and you know that you are one who painstakingly brought this thing that should not be into the world and so you decide to end it all one da #and go to him as he’s asleep with the knife shaking in your hand #but he cries when you’re above him! screams at the top of his lungs!#so you beg for forgiveness even though you don’t deserve it through tears but as soon as the knife is put away you see the act drop and fee #his clever fingers having twisted your brain inside and out and you know that you can do nothing #and so the opportunity arises to at least remove him out of your life if not everyone’s lives and you take it immediately.#but you heard him talk. how he will close his fist around the world one day. and you know that it is not a matter of if but when.#like. imagine that. jesus dude.#like i hc her as someone that is messy and does not know a lot about life and she certainly wouldn’t have been a good mother but the love #or at least desire to love is there somewhere. and believing that having a child is really the only somewhat meaningful thing she can do #with her life. she’s not some hero or rich or anything of note. so there’s a lot obligation and not genuine desire for family here.#but she never really got the chance to be an actual mother in the first place so. who knows what that might have looked like

rewatching ben whishaw's richard ii and yea i think the biggest difference between his and the rsc version is that he plays richard's flippancy/disregard for other people's lives completely straight and in a kind of sinister way while david plays it for humor

#shoutout to the scene with dt's richard and gaunt because it's so FUCKING funny dwhgjkflkjwjlw #it's like that one twelve scene in dw where he's reading clara's flashcards for social interaction #and he's like 'uh i'm sorry for the death of your friend slash family member slash pet'. Same energy #ricky 2 #ws #in terms of 'what's more fun for me to watch' i like david better but both are v good ways to play the character imo #one emphasizes the dislikability and the other emphasizes the hubris #although i don't think playing richard's character for humor would work as well without an audience to bounce it off of #one of the weakest parts of david's 2009 film hamlet is that (now that i've listened to an audio clip of the stage recording)#the hamlet w rosencrantz/guildenstern bit in act 2 scene 2 is filled with too much dead air where the live audience would normally laugh #and like hamlet Is meant to be more Funny as a play in a way richard ii is not so it's not like. dealbreaking or anything #but i am so grateful that the rsc richard ii is a stage recording rather than. made for tv bc i can imagine a world #where tv dt richard ii would have a bunch of scenes like the hamlet/ros/guil scene where it would drag more than it needed to #so like while i do slightly prefer the rsc version both versions are ultimately best suited to their respective mediums #also rory kinnear plays henry a lot more human and sympathetic than nigel lindsay does #which means that while he is much much much more entertaining to watch #i do feel like the wider theme of the fragility and sheer ridiculousness of the monarchy as a concept comes thru better in the rsc version #as well as (perhaps accidentally..) satirizing the english nationalistic sentiment expressed by a bunch of the characters #but then again i don't think that's what hollow crown was shooting for they wanted to do a grounded drama and they did a grounded drama

#limon talks #i cant imagine ever living there #idk how millions of people manage it #i almost got hit by a truck twice #once on the highway some jackass passed me not even caring that at that moment his bigass truck didnt fit #had to slowdown #then later another truck almost clipped me when the lanes merged #god if theres one thing having spent almost a full day driving has taught me #its that people are insane on the highway #ill do anywhere from 4-10 over the speed limit #and regularly get passed by other drivers #like my guy! i'm already speeding! you want me to speed MORE?!!#i also hated the bumper to bumper driving in nyc #people will just full on stop in the middle of an intersection #only further prolonging traffic jams #like bro why do you think we're inching forward the way we are #its because some dipshits dont understand the concept of leaving a reasonable amount of space between you and the driver in front of you #anyways uh to cap off on a happier note #like right in front of where i parked was a march for palestine #that was nice #wonderful to see so many people come out in support of that

watched the second full scene released from kfp 4 and it is significantly lowering my expectations

#like ok another fart joke #one thing i liked about the first 3 is they mostly stray away from low brow humor like that #but then theres one in most of the trailers theyve been putting out #but with that while i dont love it ik that theyve kinda made trailers that make the movie look much more immature than it actually is for..#...all the previous ones #theyre great movies but you wouldnt know from the trailers #theyre marketing the movies to elementary schoolers #which granted is the target audience so its smart from a business perspective but the movies have a lot more to them #and also from the clips we see even tho i dont love the joke theres more to it than haha fart funny #unlike the one from this scene #but yeah all that aside the scene just goes on too long #like the concept of po meditating but it not working could have been funny but its so dragged out #and idk not a fan of how they depicted his inner voices #its just kinda uncreative i feel like they could have gone in a more interesting visual direction with it #i feel like the previous 3 movies were really good at that sort of thing #and im kinda worried that the visual creativity that i love so much about the series wont really be here #like they always seem to come up with interesting visual styles to show things happening within characters imaginations to differentiate...#...it from reality #but here its in the same textured 3d animation style that the rest of the movie is in #but yeah i actually really liked the first scene they released of po meeting zhen #so yeah overall i have super mixed feelings about this movie given what dreamworks has been showing us #i really want it to be good #i havent completely given up on it but theres just a lot of questionable choices being made
