Types of Electric Gates and Their Benefits
People looking to secure their property further have the easy option of installing automatic or electric gates. They are convenient for homes, commercial, and industrial premises. Different types of automatic gates are available, and each type is designed for a specific purpose or location. Understanding them can help you make the right choices for your property.
TYPES OF AUTOMATIC OR ELECTRIC GATES
SLIDING GATES
The name suggests that sliding gates offered by electric gates contractors will move on the track for opening and closing. They are a perfect choice for areas where space-related constraints exist. They don't require additional areas to swing open and close, and they are available in various sizes and designs. They go well in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
SWING GATES
Another very popular option available at electric gate contractors is swing gates, which are hinged and operate similarly to traditional doors or gates. They are designed to swing open and close from a fixed point and are available in two types: single–leaf and double–leaf gates. Single–leaf gates are useful in small drive areas or pedestrian elements, whereas double-leaf gates work incredibly well in large driveways.
TELESCOPIC GATES
This option, offered by electric gate contractors, is again ideal for areas with limited space for electric gate installation. It consists of sliding gate leaves that overlap to save space and make the opening area freely available.
Telescopic electric gates are ideally suited for commercial and industrial applications where controlled vehicle access is required.
FOLDING GATES
A very impressive electric gate option is folding gates, which have hinged gate leaves that fold back to create an opening. According to electric gate services professionals, folding gates work incredibly well in properties with limited space but wide entrances. They are best for commercial and industrial applications of fence and gates.
WHAT ARE THE MAIN BENEFITS OF ELECTRIC GATES?
Enhanced security, convenience, peace of mind, and, most importantly, improved aesthetics are the top benefits that people can get from electric gates. They contribute enormously to enhancing a property's overall curb appeal and resale value. Most importantly, they restrict unauthorised access to any property, and the property owner can control who they want to give access to. They come with a powerful battery backup to continue working even during power outages.

Why Industrial Sliding Gates are Perfect for High-Security Areas
Introduction to Industrial Sliding Gates: Enhancing Security and Space Efficiency Industrial sliding gates, also known as cantilever slide gates, are robust structures designed to regulate access to commercial, industrial, or even residential areas. Unlike swing gates, which need ample space to open outward or inward, sliding gates glide horizontally along a track, making them perfect for locations with limited space.
Built from strong materials like steel or aluminum, these gates are designed to endure extreme weather and resist tampering, providing a reliable, long-lasting security solution.
Built for Strength and Durability: Materials that Stand the Test of Time
Constructed from durable materials such as steel or aluminum, industrial sliding gates are engineered to withstand harsh environmental conditions and deter attempts at tampering. Available in various sizes and designs, they can accommodate diverse entry points and meet different security needs, making them adaptable to a wide range of sites and purposes.
Enhanced Crime Deterrence: Why Industrial Gates are Essential for Security
On commercial properties, industrial sliding gates act as a first line of defense against unauthorized entry and potential criminal activity. Acting as a strong physical barrier, these gates deter trespassers and intruders, helping to prevent crimes such as vandalism, theft, and data breaches. Their presence alone can discourage criminal behavior, providing peace of mind for business owners and property managers alike.
Controlled Access with Ease: Managing Entry and Exit Points
Industrial sliding gates are ideal for controlling access to premises, whether they are manually operated or motorized. By allowing selective entry and exit, these gates enable businesses to control who can enter the property. This regulated access can be essential for properties that require high levels of security, allowing entry only to those with permission while keeping out unauthorized visitors.
Privacy and Security Combined: Shielding Your Property from Unauthorized Access and View
Industrial sliding gates not only prevent unauthorized individuals from entering but also block visibility, adding a layer of privacy for operations within the premises. Depending on the style and height, these gates can restrict both physical entry and visual access, protecting sensitive or proprietary activities from public view and adding to the overall security of the property.
Motorized Sliding Gates: Enhancing Convenience and Accessibility
A motorized industrial sliding gate can be particularly beneficial when handling large, heavy gates. Motorized options make accessing the property easier, especially when speed and efficiency are required. This is especially valuable for high-traffic properties, where manual operation could be time-consuming and impractical.
Cost Savings on Insurance: Added Security Reduces Premiums
The addition of industrial sliding gates can result in significant insurance savings. Informing your insurance provider about these enhanced security measures demonstrates your proactive steps to prevent crime and protect your property, often resulting in reduced insurance premiums. This added layer of security is not only beneficial for protecting assets but can also positively impact a business's bottom line.
Versatile Applications Across Sectors: Where Industrial Sliding Gates Excel
Industrial sliding gates serve various industries and sectors, including commercial facilities, critical infrastructure sites, government institutions, transportation hubs, and residential communities. They are commonly used to secure warehouses, manufacturing plants, power plants, communication hubs, military bases, airports, seaports, railway terminals, and even high-end residential areas, providing essential security for a wide range of environments.
Quiet Operation Advantage: Swinging Gates as a Noise-Reducing Alternative
For properties where noise control is a priority, industrial swinging gates may be preferable due to their quieter operation. Unlike sliding gates, swinging gates do not rely on a track or motorized components, allowing them to move more quietly. This feature makes swinging gates ideal for areas where maintaining a peaceful environment is essential.
Access Control Integration: Keeping Unwanted Visitors Out
Industrial sliding gates equipped with access control systems are invaluable for preventing unauthorized entry and addressing potential security threats. In today’s world, where security risks are ever-present, these gates can provide businesses and institutions with a reliable way to protect assets, personnel, and sensitive information.
Conclusion
Industrial sliding gates are an excellent choice for enhancing security, maximizing space, and adding durability to any commercial or industrial site. With benefits ranging from crime deterrence to cost savings on insurance, they are a wise investment for any property needing reliable protection.
Able Door Services offers a wide range of high-quality industrial sliding gate options to suit your unique security and access needs. Secure your premises with the strength and efficiency of an industrial sliding gate from Able Door Services today.

Storing and Maintaining Your Gate Repair Safety Gear
In the field of gate repair, ensuring the integrity and readiness of safety equipment is crucial. Properly storing helmets, gloves, and goggles can extend their usability, ensuring personal safety while also being cost-effective. Helmets should be kept out of direct sunlight and in well-ventilated spaces to prevent material degradation. Gloves need a dry environment to avoid moisture buildup that can lead to deterioration. For goggles, it’s important to store them in areas free from dust accumulation. Exploring these storage methods may uncover additional strategies to enhance the longevity and performance of your safety gear.
Cleaning Your Safety Equipment
Regular maintenance is essential for the effectiveness and longevity of safety gear. Keeping your equipment clean plays a vital role in the upkeep of gate repair safety gear. Dirt, grease, and debris buildup can impair the functionality and safety of helmets, gloves, and harnesses. To maintain high safety and operational standards, it's important to follow recommended cleaning practices tailored to each type of gear.
For helmets, use mild soap and warm water to gently scrub the outer shell and padding, ensuring you air dry them afterwards.
Gloves should be checked for punctures and cleaned with suitable fabric cleaners based on their material—leather gloves require different care than synthetic ones.
Harnesses need careful attention; soak them in a mild detergent solution and hand wash, making sure to remove oil or grime from the straps without damaging the fibers.
Effective Storage Techniques
Proper storage is essential for maintaining the condition and readiness of safety gear. When it comes to gate repair safety equipment like helmets, gloves, and goggles, the methods of storage matter as much as the locations. Each item should be kept in a clean, dry space to prevent deterioration from moisture or pollutants.
For example, helmets should be hung on designated racks instead of tossed into tool bins, which can compromise their structural integrity. Gloves should be stored flat to avoid permanent creases that could weaken the material over time, and a dedicated shelf or drawer can help maintain their shape and function.
Goggles, which can easily get scratched and impair visibility, should be kept in protective cases or on padded shelves. Temperature control is also important, as extreme conditions can damage the materials of safety gear, making them brittle or overly elastic. Therefore, choose a storage area that remains relatively cool and out of direct sunlight.
By implementing these storage techniques, you can ensure that your gate repair safety gear meets the highest safety standards, while also fostering a sense of professionalism and shared responsibility within your team.

The Benefits of Installing Automatic Gates for Home Security in Lancashire
When it comes to safeguarding your home and loved ones, security should always be a top priority. In Lancashire, where residential safety is paramount, installing automatic gates can offer a multitude of benefits that not only enhance security but also add to the convenience and value of your property. Let's explore why automatic gates in Lancashire are becoming a popular choice for homeowners.
1. Enhanced Security:
One of the primary reasons homeowners in Lancashire opt for automatic gates is the substantial boost in security they provide. These gates act as a formidable barrier to unauthorized access, deterring potential intruders and ensuring that only authorized individuals can enter your property.
2. Controlled Access:
Automatic gates allow homeowners to have complete control over who enters their property. You can use various access control methods, such as keypads, intercoms, or remote controls, to grant access to trusted individuals while keeping unwanted visitors at bay.
3. Deterrence Against Crime:
The presence of automatic gates serves as a visible deterrent to potential criminals. Knowing that a property is equipped with secure entry points can discourage burglars and vandals from targeting your home.
4. Increased Privacy:
Automatic gates provide an added layer of privacy, preventing strangers and solicitors from approaching your home uninvited. You can enjoy your personal space without unwanted interruptions.
5. Convenience and Comfort:
With automatic gates, you no longer need to manually open and close gates, especially during adverse weather conditions. The convenience of remote or automated operation makes entering and leaving your property hassle-free.
6. Property Value and Aesthetics:
Automatic gates can significantly enhance the curb appeal of your home in Lancashire. They make a striking first impression and can increase the overall value of your property, which can be especially beneficial when selling.
7. Safety for Children and Pets:
Automatic gates provide an added layer of safety, especially for families with children and pets. You can ensure that your loved ones are protected from traffic or wandering outside the premises.
8. Low Maintenance:
Modern automatic gates are designed to be durable and require minimal maintenance. Regular servicing, including electric gate repairs in Lancashire, can keep them in excellent working condition.
9. Customization Options:
Homeowners can choose from a variety of styles, materials, and designs for their automatic gates, allowing them to match the gates to their property's architectural aesthetics.
10. Immediate Response to Security Threats:
In the event of a security breach or suspicious activity, automatic gates can be quickly closed, preventing unauthorized access and ensuring the safety of your family and property.
To ensure the continued reliability and security of your automatic gates in Lancashire, consider regular maintenance and timely electric gate repairs when needed. Types Of Electric Gates And Their Benefits
Bigger properties and properties that require high security are often the best candidates for electric gates. A myth about these gates is that they are not as popular as automated or custom gates. The fact is completely opposite, as they have maintained their worth and usefulness in different industries and sectors. The best thing is that they can be activated using a keypad, a mobile app, fingerprint, identification or the remote control. Let us discuss the top 3 types of gates that electric gates contractors offer to their clients.
What Are The Three Types Of Electric Gates?
The Swing-Type Gate
As the name suggests, swing type gates swing open and close and this is done using a powerful motor. Just with a push of a button, this motor can be activated to provide enough energy to open the gate and then close it back. According to electric gates contractors, swing-type gates are the most popular and easiest to install. No rocket science is involved in electric gates services and they are very durable and robust, as they are mostly made from wrought iron. Using this metal means your electric gates will be very heavy and long-lasting.
What Are Folding-Type Electric Gates
The second type of electric gates offered by electric gates contractors are the swing-type electric gate made from several sheets and strong metals hinged together. Upon activation, the fence and gate will expand and contract as the metal sheets stretch end-to-end and form a protective barrier. They get their name from folding-type electric gates, as they are powered by electricity, but only when the gate is shut. When open, it does not require any electricity, as the sheets fold automatically on one side of the entryway. The top USP of folding-type electric gates is that they consume very little space, and since they are made from galvanized steel or powdered aluminium, they are very long-lasting and weather-proof.
Sliding-Type Electric Gates
According to the experts of electric gates services, these sliding-type electric gates work using a chain or pulley system. The gate is mounted on a sturdy platform with small wheels and powered by an electric motor. They are easy to control with the help of remote controls and they are mostly seen around industrial parks. They can be made from wood or aluminium and are ideal for places with short driveways.
What Are The Advantages Of Using Electric Gates?
Achieve better security at your property or premises
Households can rest assured their possessions will remain protected
Businesses don’t have to worry about expensive assets being stolen
Electric gates are fully automated thanks to in-built motors and wireless technology
Electric gates can provide greater safety and added peace of mind
Electric gates give an impression of grandeur
They will often feature ornate details
You can noticeably improve the aesthetic appeal of your home or business
Electric gates could convince customers or clients to deal with you
The installation of electric gates can add value to your home

Wow, this is 1931 home in Winnetka, Wisconsin is impressive. 9bds, 9ba, $8.9M.
Wow, look at the carved wood walls. There's an original tile floor in the foyer, too, and a leaded glass inner door.
You know, I like the white carpet on the stairs. I wouldn't want to clean it, but it looks beautiful. This home has those bas relief ceilings, too.
Is it the way they're photographing the room to get the ceiling in, or are the ceilings low? The large sitting room has wood paneled walls to match the entrance hall, plus the same ceiling and a beautiful fireplace.
Very classy guest powder room. Black marble floor with white veining, and the marble counter on top of an antique dresser has a sink ringed in gold. The gold wallpaper ties it all in.
Comfy home office. The rounded desk looks art deco and is nestled perfectly in a triad of framed windows.
The library shelving is gorgeous. Oblong octagonal cutouts in carved shelves, and that gorgeous fireplace in the middle has a pediment with a pineapple and a black & white marble surround.
I like this light dining room. Cream and pale blue bas relief ceiling is so soft and stunning.
These cheery bright dining spaces are so pleasing. This is a breakfast room in creamy white and it gets a lot of sun from the windows to the garden.
The kitchen is a professional chef's kitchen. It begins with a large pantry done in the same cream color with large glass paned doors on the cabinets so you can see the dishware. The kitchen cabinetry looks maple and has a cute corner fireplace, black countertops and copper pots hanging over the double island.
At the top of the stairs on the 2nd level is a magnificent oval leaded glass skylight. The glass panes are opalescent. And, there's a large sitting room up here, too.
They've made a walkway between 2 area rugs in the huge primary bedroom. On one side is a lovely mahogany canopy bed that contrasts well against the white room and the other side is a sitting room.
There is a huge home office up hear with a pretty French Provincial desk and a chaise lounge.
The bath is nice, there's a separate room for the toilet, and a lovely vintage marble counter on the sink. Love the rust-colored marble on the floor.
What a lovely guest room. It's so large, there's a huge picture window between 2 full-sized canopy beds.
Down in the large basement is a rec room that looks like the ultimate man cave. Rich dark wood furniture, a red pool table with an unusual pool lamp- it's not the usual stained glass, this fixture has foxes in red waistcoats holding up electric candles - love that.
Wow, man cave indeed. That fireplace is the size of a room. You can definitely walk in there. And, look at the life-sized butler statue in the corner. Is he creepy?
The home gym looks commercial. Mirrored walls and a black ceiling make it look industrial.
Outside, the iron gate makes it look like a secret garden.
The hedges are cut in patterns.
It must cost a fortune to maintain these gardens. The property is 3.25 acres.
Is it me, or does the pool look like a fidget spinner.
I love conservatories and this one is lovely. The plants and wicker furniture really bring the outdoors in.
This is the prettiest tennis court with the trees and latticed fencing.
An elaborate play set for the children looks like it conveys.

Trains in Anime - Arcane Season 2
As you may have heard, the second season of Arcane is out. Arcane is a complex and amazing show about love and loss, about power and class, about friends and family, about playing god and being god. It’s amazing, it’s beautiful, it’s heartbreaking, it’s an ad for a game you should never ever play, it sets the benchmark for what animation can be and do in this decade and beyond.
But most importantly, it has trains. Let's talk about them.
Prison Train
Apart from a few new angles on the funicular we already know from season 1 and some mine carts, there are two interesting train-like thingies in this season. The first one appears in episode 4 and is used to bring prisoners and main characters to the prison island. And it's weird.
Individual train cars run on two parallel lines of… something, with an overhead line ostensibly providing electric power (there are sparks from it). The running lines are not directly supported by anything, they run between pillars in the sea, and there, they're placed on some roller structures.
The main thing that gets me about this is structural. Are these ropes or steel beams? Either way, why don't they bend?
It's easy to say this is wrong and just move on, but it's more interesting to think of ways this system can make sense.
Personally, I choose to interpret it as a variation of the Aerobus design.
Picture: Rowema AG, CC-BY-SA 3.0, via Wikimedia Commons
The Aerobes is a classic gadgetbahn, a thing where an inventor said, "trains are boring, let's do a new thing that's exactly the same but proprietary, untested and less practical". In this case, it was a Swiss aerial cable car designer who came up with it. The design is that the train cars run on either two parallel steel beams or cables that are above it, and that are themselves suspended in the air. The resulting thing doesn't look too different from e.g. the Wuppertal Schwebebahn or similar systems (not that there are many), but with a much lighter infrastructure based mostly on steel ropes. Two commercial lines were built in the 1970s, one in Québec that lasted surprisingly long, one in Mannheim, Germany, for an exhibition, and that was where it stopped.
With the weird roller thing, I'm choosing to interpret this prison transport system as a similar thing. In this case the carrying rails/ropes are underneath the vehicle, but that doesn't change much. The vehicle is probably self-propelled and the rollers are just there to deal with heat expansion. I'll assume it's some magic steel so the wires don't move perceptibly as the vehicles pass over it. The vehicles themselves are only run singly, never as trains, presumably to avoid overloading the system.
There are two vehicles, one with a ramp, one with doors that open outwards. It's possible that this represents the totality of that system. Somewhat unusually for a prison train, the system is fully automated and can be used easily by escaped prisoners and by bloodthirsty alchemical monsters trying to break in. It looks cool though.
Intermodal transport
The other rail thing I want to talk comes at the end of the show, episode 9, and here Netflix really screws me over. It was basically impossible to take screenshots, even though it worked just fine for episode 4. They ended up crazy blurry, of the wrong moment, whatever. I've been making use of Fancaps.net, whose collection is exhaustive, but sadly they tend to focus more on important character moments and cool stuff and less on rail infrastructure. So please excuse the wall of text.
At that point in the show a big invasion is happening, and our heroes are trying to defend themselves. One of the means they have is an innovative form of multimodal container transport. The shipping container is brought to the loading station by rail. From there, it is lifted by magic, through a magic gate… and then fired at high speed at the enemies. Fun!
The shipping container and the flat car are both designed to be a bit fantastical, not a direct copy of our modern world, and I can respect that, even though I don't know how these angle brackets are actually supposed to hold the container in place.
But then… look at that truck. Or bogie. I'd give you a better angle but Netflix insisted on making it blurry. Hell, I'll give it to you anyway.
Ignore the foreground, that's just characters frantically trying to save someone's life. What's important is the railroad truck. And as you can sort of see, that's clearly a Y25!
Okay, back up a bit, let me explain. So most rail vehicles have four axles. To go around corners easily, these are not directly attached to the main body. Instead two axles in the front and two in the back are attached to a special frame that can swivel and pivot; the truck or bogie. I think one of these terms may be British and the other North American, but as someone who is neither, I don't actually know, as far as I can tell both are in use.
As the part that holds and guides the axles, provides most of the suspension, takes all of the shocks that the suspension can't, holds braking equipment and propulsion equipment, the bogie of a train is super important. There is a lot of research and development in that area, with designs being constantly refined and improved.
Except when it comes to freight cars. For freight cars, there are two bogies: The French one, used in Europe (excluding the former Soviet Union, probably Finland, and for the UK it's difficult), and the American one, used everywhere else.
This division isn't quite accurate, but it's accurate enough. It's not a law by any means, people keep inventing new trucks for freight cars all the time. But they rarely get sold much. The standard designs are good enough, they get produced in large numbers for cheap, and since they're so standardised, if you use them, you can skip a significant number of steps the approvals process that otherwise come with inventing a new type of rail vehicle.
I am somewhat lying here, in that both the French and the American design are actually large families with many different types, and I assume in particular American rail fans will be angry when I say all their bogies look the same to me… but I'm correct anyway, sorry.
I don't have any good pictures of the American style, so have one from a model railroad car instead:
These are known as Bettendorf-style or sometimes "three piece bogie", their central part is that they have two side frames that hold the axle ends, and one central bolster connecting them. The springs are between the side parts, the bolster isn't directly fixed to them. Rides well on rough tracks, which is why you'll sometimes, rarely, see them on maintenance of way equipment in Europe (although generally beefier versions of the same design. Same in the US).
In contrast, the French version is the Y25.
It also consists of one bolster and two side frames. However, it also usually has additional relatively weak parts at the front and end. The bolster is fixed to the side frames, but it's designed to flex in itself. The springs are between the side frames and the wheel bearings. A characteristic part for the standard type is the "belly" between the wheels, and the hole in there.
Arcane is made by Fortiche, Fortiche are French, and thus their rail car gets a Y25. They spaced it up a little, and in the course removed the suspension and brakes and added a plate over the hole where the central bolster attaches, but it's still clearly a Y25 type bogie.
The rest of the track is a bit weird. The train car doesn't have flanges, instead it runs in grooves in the ground. It's also unclear how it's moved there; it seems to be some kind of winch (you need to turn a handle really hard or push the train car with superpowers). Most importantly, it's unclear why someone built a container delivery railway to the top of the city's tallest tower in the first place. But I am absolutely delighted by the Y25 freight car bogie there.
If you are interested in the wide world of freight car bogies, and you speak German, I strongly recommend Drehgestelle.de, a delightfully old-fashioned website by a single guy who really cares very much. He charts the history of the Y25, the Bettendorf bogie, the earlier Diamond bogie, the German counterpart to the Y25 that used to be popular until it got outlawed, and all the various weird other things that have been tried.
All in all, a good show, I can recommend it.

why this number? sam raimi is worth $40 mil. robert (bob) washington is described so heavily as this movie mogul in hollywood and this huge hotshot producer / director figure who has all these awards, has a significant sized family (it's not cheap raising three kids), and literally bought a mountain (ie enouigh property of the mountain for the peak to be considered "mount washington" after razing an entire hotel to build a lodge atop it, among other little things to keep everything operational (including lighting, sheds, electrical gates, etc) among other things.
which, just really fast, what is the cost of buying a mountain? or buying a mountain that way josh's dad did? there's a couple of answers:
a) it was likely cheap. it doesn't have a functioning ski lodge, it's not farmable, it's not commercial use, none of that. bob had to put the work in making the land "viable" or even usable to his family. it was also bought for personal use. this wasn't a lodge to rent out, this was another home. anyways. b) it's "cursed". which comes with cheap. there's been a ton of history about this, which likely drove away other sales, and allowed him to negotiate. c) he didn't actually buy the whole mountain, just enough of it to really claim "social full ownership" (if that even makes sense? he owns a bunch of it, just not all of it).
cost: roughly anywhere from $2mil USD (least) to maybe $10mil USD (most). likely between $4-6mil USD with a promise to raze the hotel for him. also, my cost-estimates are actually going off of the modern market, not in the late 1990s when he purchased it, so it was probably even cheaper tbh.
"After a successful career in Hollywood netted movie mogul Bob Washington fame and fortune, he purchased an extensive amount of land atop Blackwood Mountain to serve as the idyllic vacation retreat for his family in 1997. The manor house he built there functioned as an ideal getaway and a testament to his wealth and prosperity, and thus the Washington Estate was created. However, the site would prove to be anything but relaxing. Trespassers, protestors, and an enigmatic figure seen on the property would unnerve Bob's wife Melinda. The ultimate tragedy came in the form of the mysterious disappearance of his children." - source
so, bob was likely always in the industry in an "indie" way, then really popped off in probably 1994-1996. more money, more movies, more prestige, more connections, more everything. it happened somewhat fast, though he had always lived comfortably. this would make sense, as i have josh being born in 1994 just based off of his age and the timeline of UD.
so ... josh is a nepo baby, that's just how it is. he was born into wealth that just continued amassing before he can even fully remember being alive. he has a trust fund. he's always going to be taken care of. any kids he has will be taken care of even if he decides to never work again or expand the empire.
i've called him that from the start. he's definitely not in the 1%, but he's definitely likely one of the wealthiest (and most famous / famously connected) people his friends know currently (and might ever know tbh, he's such an exception to the rule in a way which is why we find his friends also being generally in the upper class).
also, just being real, josh is this way strictly so he can do this entire prank for the story of the game. he has to be that rich and also connected in the way of hollywood to pull this off, it just makes sense. otherwise, it's a lot of explaining when it's just much easier to say "he's rich, he's connected, his dad is in the industry, and he wants to be, too" than going "well, he got this x way and this y way and did this z way". until dawn was never meant to get that deep for the length of game, we see these constrictions all over the game because it was originally made to be a "couple's game" where couples passed the controller and played together.
however, he's very interesting as a character when "wielding his wealth". he can't help but "be rich". by this, i sort of mean like ... being invited over means seeing that wealth on open display, but it's not exactly his display so much as his parents. we can argue josh's aesthetic style later, but he definitely is rich in blood. he likes the nicer things, but he's super simplistic at the same time? he's fine to hang out in a house that isn't a mansion, he doesn't think he's "slumming it" by hanging out with anyone that isn't a millionaire, but he is used to that lifestyle. he has this sort of balance he's found, which is a good thing about josh, he does have good traits.
it's like this: josh both does and does not "fit" into the world he was born into. he's likely known by others in his sphere as a sort of eccentric, maybe a bit aloof or weird, and definitely as a creative type. but he doesn't always "get" this stuffy vibe, this sort of facade, and he likes to think of himself as "real" by comparison.
but we see in his choice of friends that they're still pretty wealthy, so there's a comfort there. we could argue that maybe chris? potentially ashley? are more "middle class" (still doing well), and i see matt as coming from the sort of family where he's the first that's "born into" some sort of wealth (from his parents), but it's made to be clear that most of these kids are basically rich kids, such as sam, mike, em, jess (her parents bought her FOUR PHONES in ONE YEAR, that is EXPENSIVE).
chris's general personality but comfortability with the washington family's wealth tells me he could be kind of either? hard to really say unless i was writing him myself, but this is the general vibe i follow and thus otter follows. chris and ash are middle class by comparison. it goes up from there.
josh follows a very personal motif of "if i say we're eating, i didn't ask for money, i asked for your order" or "if i'm eating, you're eating" which extends into a "if i'm smiling, you're going to be smiling" or "if you're not smiling, then i'm not smiling".
