Sorry, I gotta hear your theories abt the snow piercers burials at your earliest convenience
Sorry to disappoint not theories just thoughts!
Like how it's acknowledged multiple times in canon that bodies go to compost. Melanie tells Jackboots to take Josie there, Ruth complains of bodies stacking up after the rebellion.
Which makes total sense composting bodies is probably the best possible option, but it's not super easy to do in a safe way and would need to be far more complex and scientific than the den of sludge that we see on Big Alice.
But then the Breachmen get what you gif'd - wrapped in cloth and jettisoned. Inherently wasteful, a not insignificant amount of cloth and rope on top of the loss of the soil feeding nutrients of the body itself.
This is presumably supposed to be an honour. Breachmen are third class, though. Do they get the honour because of the work they do, revered as they were amongst the working class? Do they get the honour because they were murdered, or young, or innocent? Do we only compost Tailies and rebels?
Do you get an honourable send off if you commit suicide? Even if your a firstie? In fic I refer to those as The Ungrateful Dead (an imagined Wilfordism, to be clear) and they get sent to compost.
Assume for a minute that the honour is generally reserved for the upper class, or at the very least the heroes. Even in death, even after the end of the world, how very like reality. The working class interred or burned, given back to the earth, the upper class entombed in mausoleum, great metal lined slabs, perfectly preserved... For posterity.
Of course the main point and one my mutuals are sure to be bored of is this.
Send me to compost.
What horror to be flash frozen, shattered flesh, scattered on a dead planet and trapped in this lifeless fragment of a life cycle for decades or centuries. What horror to be wasted.
Send me to compost. So I can feed the fungus, the bacteria, feed the earthworm and the cockroach, bring life to the fruiting tree and the sprouting herb. Send me to compost so I can feed you and you can have me back again. So I can be again. Life unto life. Keep me close and keep me warm, don't throw me out into the frozen wastes.
Sorry @gifsofhubris I just really wanted to wax lyrical about compost šŸ¤·

Efficient Waste Management: The Benefits of Garbage Chute Services
Waste management is the most important system in today's urban landscape. It is coupled with innovative solutions, such as the Garbage Chute Service. This simplifies waste disposal and improves the overall cleanliness and hygiene that could be observed even when it comes to residential and commercial buildings.
What is a Garbage Chute? A garbage chute is a vertical shaft fitted in buildings designed for the purpose of providing easy waste transport directly from different floors to a disposal area. This convenient feature reduces the hassle associated with carrying heavy bags of trash down or through hallways and can be considered an indispensable component of the modern multi-story building.
Key Benefits of Garbage Chute Services Convenience: The greatest benefit associated with the use of a chute for garbage is convenience. People simply throw their trash in it, unlike their obligation to get around and navigate the stairs or an elevator while carrying bulky trash.
Improved Sanitation: Waste chutes ensure better hygiene because less splashing and odour occurs. Additionally, since wastes are confined in the chute till collection, the likelihood of infestation by pests and rodents is less, making living and working areas healthier and more hygienic.
Space-Saving: In densely populated areas, space is at a premium. A garbage chute requires minimal space, allowing buildings to utilize more floor area for essential services rather than waste storage.
Efficient Waste Collection: A well-designed garbage chute system makes waste collection more efficient. Collection staff can quickly access the disposal area, reducing waste management time.
Eco-Friendly: Implementing a garbage chute service can also support sustainability efforts. By centralizing waste disposal, it encourages proper segregation and recycling, aligning with modern environmental standards.
Choosing the Right Garbage Chute Service The things to consider when selecting a Garbage Chute Service are:
Quality and durability: Make sure that the chute materials used are good quality and long-lasting to endure all daily usage through frequent use.
Customization: A credible service provider should have options to allow unique needs to fit into your building.
Maintenance and Support: Select a service that offers regular maintenance and prompt support so that the system is able to function at its best.
Conclusion Garbage Chute Service in your building will fundamentally improve the efficiency of managing waste, maintain hygiene, and ensure a healthier environment. With growing cities inevitably marking great innovations in their midst, such as garbage chutes, effective strategies for waste management will inevitably be decided by such tools.

Our Commitment to Garbage Collection Services
Garbage collection services are an essential part of maintaining clean, healthy, and sustainable communities. While it might seem like a routine service, the intricacies of waste management go beyond simply collecting and disposing of trash. In todayā€™s world, where environmental consciousness and efficiency are priorities, the role of a reliable garbage collection service cannot be underestimated.
Tumblr media
At the heart of our operations lies a deep commitment to two key values: quality and care. These values are the driving force behind every service we offer, ensuring that our customers receive the best garbage collection experience while contributing positively to the environment. Whether youā€™re a homeowner, a business, or part of a larger industrial operation, we have waste management solutions tailored to your needs, always keeping sustainability in mind.
The Importance of Quality in Garbage Collection
When we talk about providing quality garbage collection services, we mean that every step of the process is executed with excellence. From the technology we use to the expertise of our team and the reliability of our service, quality is our top priority.
1. Timeliness and Reliability
The foundation of any garbage collection service is timeliness. Consistent, on-time waste pickup is crucial to avoid the accumulation of trash, which can lead to unsanitary conditions, unpleasant odors, and even health risks. Imagine living or working in an environment where waste collection is delayedā€”overflowing bins not only create an eyesore but can also attract pests and spread disease.
Our commitment to quality ensures that we provide reliable service schedules tailored to your specific needs. Whether itā€™s daily, weekly, or custom pickup schedules, we are dedicated to being punctual and dependable. Residential customers enjoy the peace of mind that comes with a clean and tidy home environment, while businesses benefit from the cleanliness that supports smooth operations.
2. Advanced Technology and Equipment
We take pride in using the latest technology and equipment to deliver top-notch garbage collection services. Modern waste management requires more than just traditional garbage trucks. Our vehicles are equipped with advanced waste-handling and compacting systems, allowing us to optimize space and reduce the number of trips required, which in turn reduces fuel consumption and emissions.
Additionally, we use GPS tracking and route optimization software to ensure our drivers take the most efficient paths, minimizing delays and maximizing our service efficiency. This also helps us reduce our environmental footprint by cutting down on unnecessary fuel use.
3. Skilled and Professional Staff
Providing quality services also means having a highly trained and professional team. Our employees are not just collectorsā€”they are waste management specialists who understand the best practices for handling all types of waste, including hazardous materials, recyclables, and bulk items.
Every member of our team undergoes extensive training to ensure they can safely and efficiently collect and dispose of waste while maintaining the highest standards of customer service. Whether interacting with customers or managing complex waste disposal processes, our staff is dedicated to making every interaction as smooth and professional as possible.
Caring for the Environment: Our Eco-Friendly Approach
While providing high-quality services is crucial, our commitment to care sets us apart. In todayā€™s environmentally conscious world, waste management must go beyond collection and disposal. It requires responsible practices that prioritize sustainability and reduce the impact on the planet.
1. Eco-Friendly Disposal Practices
Our garbage collection service is built on the principle of minimizing environmental impact. We believe that waste should be managed with care, and landfills should be the last resort. To this end, we have implemented comprehensive recycling and composting programs that divert as much waste as possible from landfills.
By separating recyclables such as paper, plastic, metal, and glass, we ensure that these materials are processed and reintroduced into the production cycle. Recycling not only conserves natural resources but also reduces the pollution associated with manufacturing new products. We work with certified recycling facilities to ensure that all collected materials are processed in an environmentally responsible way.
Composting is another key part of our eco-friendly approach. Organic waste like food scraps and yard debris can be composted to create nutrient-rich soil, reducing landfill use and contributing to more sustainable agriculture and gardening practices.
2. Waste Reduction Initiatives
Beyond recycling and composting, we are also committed to helping our customers reduce the amount of waste they generate in the first place. Through educational programs and waste audits, we work with businesses and individuals to identify opportunities to cut down on waste production.
For businesses, this might include rethinking packaging materials, reducing single-use items, or implementing better waste management practices within the organization. For residential customers, we provide tips on how to make more sustainable lifestyle choices, such as reducing single-use plastics, using reusable products, and adopting composting techniques.
Our waste reduction initiatives aim to empower our customers to take an active role in minimizing their environmental impact, creating a positive ripple effect in the communities we serve.
3. Carbon Footprint Reduction
Waste collection, by its nature, requires the use of vehicles and fuel, which can contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. As part of our environmental commitment, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. By optimizing collection routes, using fuel-efficient vehicles, and exploring new technologies such as electric garbage trucks, we aim to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and minimize emissions.
Our route optimization technology ensures that our trucks use the most efficient paths, cutting down on fuel consumption and reducing the time spent on the road. As the waste management industry evolves, we are excited to adopt even more sustainable practices that align with our mission of protecting the environment.
Customer-Focused Care: Personalized Waste Management Solutions
In addition to our commitment to quality and environmental care, we also place great emphasis on delivering personalized waste management services. We understand that each customer has unique needs, and we are dedicated to providing flexible solutions that cater to every situation.
1. Customized Waste Collection Plans
We offer a range of customizable services to fit the needs of both residential and commercial clients. For homeowners, we provide flexible pickup schedules, allowing them to choose weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly collections depending on their needs. We also offer bulk item and yard waste collection services to accommodate larger disposal requirements.
For businesses, we develop comprehensive waste management plans that include recycling, composting, and safe disposal of hazardous materials. Our team will work closely with your organization to understand your specific needs and create a waste management strategy that aligns with your operational goals and sustainability objectives.
2. Responsive and Caring Customer Service

We believe that clear communication is key to building lasting relationships with our customers, and we are always available to address concerns and provide guidance.
3. Safe Handling of Hazardous and Specialty Waste
Certain types of waste, such as electronics, chemicals, and medical waste, require special handling to ensure they are disposed of safely. Our team is fully trained in the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, adhering to all regulatory requirements to protect both public health and the environment.
We partner with certified disposal facilities that specialize in processing hazardous waste, ensuring that these materials are handled in the safest and most environmentally friendly way possible. 1. Innovation in Waste Management Technology
The future of waste management is rooted in innovation. Emerging technologies such as smart waste bins, which use sensors to monitor fill levels, allow us to optimize collection schedules and reduce fuel consumption. These technologies help us further streamline our operations, making our services more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Additionally, the development of electric garbage trucks and other fuel-efficient vehicles offers exciting opportunities to further reduce our carbon footprint. We are actively exploring ways to integrate these advancements into our fleet, positioning ourselves as leaders in sustainable waste management.

Can I tell yā€™all about the longleaf pine? Aka Pinus Palustris :D
Ranging from southern virginia down the east coast to florida and as far east as texas, the longleaf pine may have dominated as much as 90,000,000 acres.
Tumblr media
Tough and fire-resistant, these massive trees can grow to be 500 years old. Spanning miles- these pine barrens were a major part of the southeastern ecosystem.
Today, less than 3% of those forests remain.
Tumblr media
The longleaf pine is a evergreen conifer, growing to be 80-100 tall and a diameter of 3 feet. These pines get their name from their needles, having the longest of the eastern pines species.
Tumblr media
The life cycle of longleaf pines is a unique one- rather than spending their first years growing in height, they instead start as a grass. This is essential to their development- they instead focus on growing their taproot- a long central root that can grow to be 12 feet long.
Tumblr media
This root stabilizes the trees, anchoring them down through hurricanes and helping them reach groundwater throughout droughts.
After going through the grass stage, the pines begin to grow in height- entering the bottlebrush stage. At this stage they are resistant to fire, severe windstorms, pests and drought. It is these characteristics that make longleaf pines highly resistant to the effects of climate change.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And it's for this reason that conservation and restoration is highly important.
Beginning during colonization, forests began being cleared to make way for agriculture and development- and the exceptional lumber was used to build ships, railroads, turpentine and tar.
These forests were replaced by commercial forests full of loblolly and slash pine.
With their tall sturdy trunks and higher canopy coverage (when compared to other pine species), I consider longleaf pines to be an excellent overstory tree in a food forest system. With the litter dropped (pine cones, pine needles, bark, branches) they are excellent for compost or mulch material. There are medicinal uses for the tree, but Iā€™m not an herbalist so I wonā€™t get into that. Pine resin from the tree also makes a great incense, just make sure you collect it when itā€™s dry.

A very Monday Monday in import land! We're back in broker hell again with another $5.3kish invoice and a five day deadline before they start stacking holding fees. Same shady bull as the import of the teabag robot, and we're still locked in from the last contract.
AS SUCH, we are fundraising to release our final packaging delivery with a limited run of compostable pyramid teabags in our loose leaf pouches! Bags are 100% PLA, fully compostable in commercial facilities, and the pouches are recyclable!
The nonsense never stops, but we're hard workers & can get through it with our communitea!
These will be lovely and fully finished quality teabags, but be sure to consume within a month or so for best freshness, as teabags have more air circulation in a pouch like this than loose leaf does.
We've got six flavor options and four quantity options (including a vanilla decaf black, which we don't normally carry!) for you and we'll be pulling this range when we hit our funding goal, so let's go!

Exploring Eco-Friendly Packaging
What is Sustainable Packaging?
Sustainable packaging uses materials and production processes that yield a minimal environmental impact. The aim is to be environmentally friendly.
Benefits of Sustainable Packaging
Biodegradable - They are made from either plant-based or recycled materials that naturally degrade without leaving toxic waste.
Compostable - Decomposes naturally through commercial compost processes. Leaves no trace of plastic.
Recyclable - Commodities consisting of post-consumer recycled paper are recyclable.
Accountable Materials - For example, mushroom fibers, banana leaves, and algae reduce the over-reliance on plastic and the excessive processes involved.
Ethical production - the use of sustainably sourced, locally produced, and fairly traded materials has proven to improve lives while having a lighter impact on the environment.
Small Carbon Footprint - Eco packaging vastly reduces the carbon emissions resulting from traditional manufacturing and waste.
Simple Swaps
Paper or Plastics - Go for paper envelopes, boxes and filler made from recycled content. Donā€™t use plastic poly bags and bubbles.
Glass vs Plastic - Choose glass bottles over single-use plastics because glass is infinitely recyclable.Support plastic reduction initiatives.
Compostable vs. Styrofoam - Replace styrofoam peanuts with compostable corn starch alternatives. Support the ban on non-recyclable products.
For stylish, zero waste, environmentally friendly packaging solutions pay a visit to Chalogreen. They manufacture their products which are entirely plant-based thus saving the planet.

weird question, but do you know if regenerative agriculture is growing, and by what rate? it's important to me but looking for articles on my own can trigger a panic attack :[ no worries if not !
Tumblr media
Hey! Thank you so much for asking. Honestly, agriculture and sustainable agriculture specifically are very close to my heart as well, so I was glad for the excuse to do some research :)Ā
Also, thank you for your patience, I know you sent this Ask a bit ago. Itā€™s good that youā€™re listening to yourself and not going around searching for things that might cause you harm, so thanks again for reaching out!
So, what is regenerative agriculture?Ā
Regenerative agriculture is a way of farming that focuses on soil health. When soil is healthy, it produces more food and nutrition, stores more carbon and increases biodiversity ā€“ the variety of species. Healthy soil supports other water, land and air environments and ecosystems through natural processes including water drainage and pollination ā€“ the fertilization of plants.
Regenerative agriculture is a defining term for sustainability in our food system - while there is no one true definition of regenerative agriculture, the concept has been around for centuries, taking root in Indigenous growing practices. Regenerative approaches can bolster soil health and watershed health. They can also add to climate mitigation and potentially tie into regulatory or commercial incentives for a more sustainable diet.Ā
Regenerative farming methods include minimizing the ploughing of land. This keeps CO2 in the soil, improves its water absorbency and leaves vital fungal communities in the earth undisturbed.
Rotating crops to vary the types of crop planted improves biodiversity, while using animal manure and compost helps to return nutrients to the soil.Ā
Continuously grazing animals on the same piece of land can also degrade soil, explains the Regenerative agriculture in Europe report from the European Academiesā€™ Science Advisory Council. So regenerative agriculture methods include moving grazing animals to different pastures.
How can it help?
Regenerative farming can improve crop yields ā€“ the volume of crops produced ā€“ by improving the health of soil and its ability to retain water, as well as reducing soil erosion. If regenerative farming was implemented in Africa, crop yields could rise 13% by 2040 and up to 40% in the future, according to a Regenerative Farming in Africa report by conservation organization the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the UN.
Regenerative farming can also reduce emissions from agriculture and turn the croplands and pastures, which cover up to 40% of Earthā€™s ice-free land area, into carbon sinks. These are environments that naturally absorb CO2 from the atmosphere, according to climate solutions organization Project Drawdown.
5 ways to scale regenerative agriculture:
1. Agree on common metrics for environmental outcomes. Today, there are many disparate efforts to define and measure environmental outcomes. We must move to a set of metrics adopted by the whole food industry, making it easier for farmers to adjust their practices and for positive changes to be rewarded. 2. Build farmersā€™ income from environmental outcomes such as carbon reduction and removal. We need a well-functioning market with a credible system of payments for environmental outcomes, trusted by buyers and sellers, that creates a new, durable, income stream for farmers. 3. Create mechanisms to share the cost of transition with farmers. Today, all the risk and cost sits with the farmers. 4. Ensure government policy enables and rewards farmers for transition. Too many government policies are in fact supporting the status quo of farming. The food sector must come together and work jointly with regulators to address this. 5. Develop new sourcing models to spread the cost of transition. We must move from sourcing models that take crops from anywhere to models that involve collaboration between off-takers from different sectors to take crops from areas converting to regenerative farming.
The rise of regenerative agriculture
In 2019, General Mills, the manufacturer of Cheerios, Yoplait and Annieā€™s Mac and Cheese (among other products), announced it would begin sourcing a portion of its corn, wheat, dairy and sugar from farmers who were engaged in regenerative agriculture practices and committed to advancing the practice of regenerative agriculture on one million acres of land by 2030. In early 2020, Whole Foods announced regenerative agriculture would be the No. 1 food trend and, in spite of the pandemic and the rapid growth of online shopping overshadowing the trend, business interest in the field still spiked by 138%.Ā
More recently, PepsiCo announced it was adopting regenerative agriculture practices among 7 million acres of its farmland. Cargill declared it intends to do the same on 10 million acres by 2030, and Walmart has committed to advancing the practice on 50 million acres. Other companies pursuing regenerative agriculture include Danone, Unilever, Hormel, Target and Land Oā€™ Lakes.
According to Nielsen, 75% of millennials are altering their buying habits with the environment in mind. This sentiment, of course, does not always materialize into tangible actions on behalf of every consumer. However, it is clear from the actions of PepsiCo, General Mills, Walmart, Unilever and others that they believe consumersā€™ expectations of what is environmentally friendly are shifting and that they will soon be looking to purchase regeneratively-produced foods because of the many benefits they produce.
The next step in the transition to regenerative agriculture is certification. The goal is to create labeling that will allow the consumer to connect to the full suite of their values. Some companies are partnering with nonprofit conveners and certifiers. The Savory Institute is one such partner, convening producers and brands around regenerative agriculture and more holistic land management practices.
In 2020, the Savory Institute granted its first ā€œEcological OutCome Verification (EOV) seal to Epicā€™s latest high protein bars by certifying that its featured beef was raised with regenerative agriculture practices.Ā
The program was developed to let the land speak for itself by showing improvement through both leading and lagging functions such as plant diversity and water holding capacity. There are now thousands of products that have been Land to Market verified, with over 80 brand partnerships with companies such as Epic Provisions, Eileen Fisher and Applegate.Ā  Daily Harvest is giving growers in that space three-year contracts as well as markets and price premiums for the transitional crop. It's focusing on that transitional organic process as a stepping stone toward a regenerative organic food system.
Daily Harvestā€™s Almond Project creates an alliance with the Savory Institute and a group of stakeholders - including Simple Mills and Cappelloā€™s - to bring regenerative practices to almonds in the Central Valley of California.
These companies are working with Treehouse California Almonds, their shared almond supplier, to lead soil health research on 160 acres of farmland. Over five years, the Project will focus on measuring outcomes around the ecosystem and soil health of regenerative practices ā€“ comparing those side by side with neighboring conventional baselines.
ā€œWe need industry partnership; we need pre-competitive collaboration,ā€ says Rebecca Gildiner, Director of Sustainability at Daily Harvest, of the Almond Project. ā€œSustainability cannot be competitive. We are all sharing suppliers, we are all sharing supply ā€“ rising tides truly lift all boats. The industry has to understand our responsibility in investing, where historically investments have disproportionately focused on yields with a sole focus of feeding the world. We know this has been critical in the past but it has overlooked other forms of capital, other than financial. We need to look towards experimenting in holistic systems that have other outcomes than yield and profit - instead of saying organic canā€™t feed the world, we have to invest in figuring out how organic can feed the world because itā€™s critical.ā€

In short!!!
Many articles are stating regenerative agriculture as a defining, and rising ā€œbuzz wordā€ in the industry. It seems that consumers are becoming more and more aware and are demanding more sustainable approaches to agriculture.Ā
We, of course, have a way to go, but it seems from the data that Iā€™ve gathered, that regenerative agriculture is, in fact, on the rise. Demand is rising, and many are working on ways to globalize those methods.

The research crew lasted twenty minutes after Harrington left before they gave up studying. Dustin insisted theyā€™d checked every single musty tome even vaguely related to werewolves already and found nothing, and sitting there going through them all again was a waste of valuable time.
What wasnā€™t a waste, apparently, was sitting in the Harringtonā€™s living room and watching a recorded version of Grease, commercials and all. Not that it mattered, because the kids all talked over themselves during the whole movie anyway. Though, sometimes, Eleven (and Eddie had yet to have that name explained) stopped to sing along under her breath and it warmed Eddieā€™s cold, sluggish heart so much that he sang Greased Lightninā€™ with her. He hoped that would save him from facing Maxā€™s brutal wit being turned on him for being a metalhead singing to a damn musical.
These children that Steve surrounded himself withā€“or, from the stories Dustin had been telling, it sounded like they adopted him insteadā€“were insanely brilliant and brave, and the way they talked about Steve now that he wasnā€™t around wasputting even more cracks in the walls Eddie had put up to keep Steve at a distance. Not that itā€™d been working well in the first place. Steve himself had smashed a hole through it when he offered Eddie his own blood (something Eddie did his level best to Not Think About), despite only knowing Eddie for a little over a week. But Dustin, Max, and El, all so much more like Eddie than Steve was in school, and yet here they were, describing how heā€™d stopped some kind of lost swamp creature from ruining a farmerā€™s field, and probably being killed for it, with nothing but his charm and a big bag of compost. What a big damn hero he was.
So, sue him if heā€™d been rethinking all of his Doctrine bullshit. Steve wasnā€™t King of Hawkins High anymore; he was grumpy on the mornings he had an early shift, he indulged Eddieā€™s long-winded ramblings, owned a terrifying amount of medieval weaponry, and he took care of his people. And Eddie had found himself temporarily counted amongst them. It chafed and made him feel special at the same time.
Sometimes he found himself sneaking around the gym attached to the monster hunter library while Steveā€“no, Harrington swung around all sorts of dangerous and spiky implements in a training regimen designed to put all his rippling muscles on very athletic display. Eddie told himself he was studying up. In the unlikely event that Harrington did turn on him, of course. It was the smart thing to do.
Eddie had zoned out thinking of said training when he heard a car door close outside. Snapped out of his daydream, Eddie's head twitched towards the noise, and when Maxā€™s did too all the kids were on high alert.
ā€œThatā€™s not Steve and Robin,ā€ Max warned.
Dustin looked at Eddie, wide-eyed, and Eddie felt his hands clench in the arm of the couch. ā€œMaybe itā€™s one of your moms?ā€ he suggested, but Max shook her head. ā€œFuck.ā€
ā€œItā€™s fine, Iā€™ll answer the door, people know me and Steve are like this,ā€ Dustin wrapped his middle finger over his index, ā€œso that shouldnā€™t give anything away. Iā€™m here all the time!ā€ His nonchalant shrug did nothing to conceal how his voice cracked nervously and Eddieā€™s confidence sank lower. ā€œYā€™know what, maybe theyā€™re just turning around and wonā€™t even knockā€“ā€
Three hesitant knocks echoed down the foyer and Dustin winced.
Max glared, unimpressed. ā€œYou jinxed it, moron.ā€
ā€œShut up!ā€ he hissed. Waving his hands around like a manic conductor, Dustin made everyone sit in silence while he stared at the door. Eddie hoped this would work, just waiting the person out, but his hopes were dashed when they heard slightly more frantic rapping. ā€œShit. Alright. Time for Plan B. Eddie, prepare for Plan C.ā€
ā€œWhatā€™s Plan C!?ā€ Eddie whispered anxiously. He hid his face in his hands when Dustin copied Eddieā€™s Dracula pose from earlier. ā€œNo, no, absolutely not, Dustin. Wait, hey!ā€
The kid raced to the door when the knocking came back and Eddie flung himself to the floor to not risk being seen. The sound of the lock was all the warning he got before Dustin opened the door and: ā€œOh, um. Hi there, youā€™re Steveā€™s friend right?ā€ Eddie knew that voice. ā€œIs he here still?ā€
Eddie popped up over the couch. ā€œChris?ā€
She grinned and waved, so Eddie scrambled off the floor and ran to tug her inside, deftly avoiding the sunshine, then wrapped her in a tight hug. Seeing her was more of a relief than heā€™d thought. Being stuck in Steveā€™s house without his stuff, his friends, his uncleā€¦
ā€œOh fuck, I forgot to leave a note for Wayne.ā€
Chrissy snort-laughed into his shirt. ā€œHe called me and I told him you were okay, but I had to make sure.ā€ She stepped back. ā€œYou do look okay. Good, actually. Even though, uh,ā€ she trailed off and saw Dustin standing at the closed door wiggling his eyebrows at Eddie.
He narrowed his eyes at Dustin and subtly shook his head, only getting an eye roll in return. ā€œWeā€™ll talk about that later, I think,ā€ Eddie said. ā€œIn the meantime, wanna help me babysit?ā€
After introductions were madeā€“and El made Chrissy giggle when she bluntly but admiringly stated, ā€œYouā€™re very pretty,ā€ā€“and theyā€™d all settled back in, Eddie found that Chrissy fit right in. Dustin was a little starstruck at first, which Eddie chalked up to the whole freshman nerd kid and senior cheerleader thing, but as soon as she started asking about the summer camp hat he wore he started infodumping like his life depended on it. Chrissy, used to listening to Eddieā€™s endless speeches, participated like a pro. The way Dustinā€™s grin kept growing made Eddie think sheā€™d just earned a friend for life. Eventually Max peeled Dustin away from Chrissy with a few well-placed taunts so she and Eddie could catch up.
Chrissyā€™s life had been going along as normal, though sheā€™d been keeping tabs on Jason just in case, she told Eddie. He wished that hadnā€™t made her wince with guilty regret, but theyā€™d fought before over her relationship with him so badly once it nearly cost him their friendship, so he kept his opinion to himself. As far as she knew, though, Jason was acting normally.
Eddie had a little more to talk about. Gossiping about Steve with her was a relief; who knew heā€™d learn so much about the former King in just a few weeks of forced cohabitation?
ā€œYou know, he mumbles to himself,ā€ Eddie said, ignoring that he was also mumbling. ā€œHeā€™ll mumble and when I try to talk back he gets in a little snit and says ā€˜I wasnā€™t talking to you!ā€™ā€ Chrissy giggled at his very poor impression of Steveā€™s voice. ā€œWhat does he expect me to do? He asks himself questions and I answer and he gets all bitchy at me. But I canā€™t win, because, get this, heā€™ll bitch at me again when I donā€™t respond because heā€™s mumbling in the same damn tone!ā€
Eyes sparkling with mirth, Chrissy covered her smile with a hand, her knees tucked up to her chest on the couch. ā€œWhy donā€™t you tell me how you really feel?ā€ she teased.
ā€œI donā€™t like your tone,ā€ Eddie said, eyes narrowed. Her smile grew wider behind her hand, and when she raised an eyebrow he folded his arms. ā€œDonā€™t get any ideas, Cunningham.ā€
ā€œNo, nope, no ideas.ā€
He glared at her for a few more seconds before a song came on over the TV that jogged his memory and he pointed at the screen. ā€œAnd you know what else he does? He sings. Into objects. Like his hairdryer, straight out of the movies like a weirdo!ā€
A loud snort caught his attention and Eddieā€™s gaze snapped to Max who was watching Eddie from the corner of her eyes with a smug, knowing expression. He felt like a deer in headlights suddenly, until Max rolled her eyes and went back to talking to El and Dustin.
ā€œDespite all that, looks like youā€™re doing pretty well here. And you donā€™t seem, um, thirsty.ā€ She whispered the last word with a curious quirk to her brow, and Eddie shrugged.
ā€œGot it covered, the last time. You donā€™t need to worry about me so much, Chris, youā€™ve got your own stuff to handle.ā€
ā€œYeah, okay, my best friend being framed for murder isnā€™t something to worry about,ā€ she said, rolling her eyes before turning sombre. ā€œEddie, Iā€™m gonna worry until youā€™re safe. I hate that I canā€™t do anything about it.ā€
Eddie shifted in his seat. He was always uncomfortable with people worrying over him, but itā€™s not like she was wrong. This was serious, the worst scrape heā€™d ever been in and he didnā€™t even know why it was happening in the first place. Dragging a hand down his face, he heaved a sigh and looked down at the floor. ā€œSorry, Chris. Youā€™re doing enough just by being here.ā€
Her mouth pursed unhappily, but before she could say anything more, car doors slammed outside once again and Max perked up.
ā€œSteveā€™s home.ā€
Before he could react, the door flung open and Steve stood there, his eyes darting across the group. When he caught sight of Chrissy, he sagged. Robin, right behind him, looked ready to fight until she also saw that everyone was fine.
Eddie tracked Steve as he trudged up the stairs without a word. He was smeared all over with dirt, his face grim and tense, but the walkway above obscured him from view before Eddie could get a better read on him. Robin drifted into the living room and curled up into the one empty chair, almost swallowed by the plush cushions. Dustin got up and switched the TV off.
ā€œWhat happened?ā€ he asked.
ā€œā€˜Nother werewolf,ā€ Robin said quietly, and the words spread like a shockwave through all of them.
So, Dustinā€™s plan had worked. The killer struck again, proving that Eddie was innocent, but also that there was someone with a vendetta against werewolves. Steve mustā€™ve had to bury the body too, and that made Eddieā€™s stomach drop to his feet. With a glance up, he saw Max looking more stormy than usual. She, Robin, and Steve were all in danger, then, more so than Eddie himself was, in his opinion, and now he really understood how Chrissy felt. How could he help them, stuck in this house, unable to go out in the daytime, waiting for the killerā€™s next move? His hands started to shake, whether it was with fear or anger he couldnā€™t tell, but he stuck them under his armpits and squeezed, ignoring the way his jaw tensed and his leg started to bounce.
ā€œIā€™m so sorry, Robin,ā€ Chrissy whispered, and Robinā€™s head snapped up like she didnā€™t even realise Chrissy was there, her eyes going wide.
Robin nodded, her surprise quickly eaten away by dread and she murmured a quiet, ā€œThanks.ā€
ā€œWere there any new clues?ā€ Dustin asked with an unusual amount of respect.
ā€œSteve and Hopper didnā€™t find anything, but Jason Carver showed up and said some things. Steve could tell it better but, uh, he should rest. This wasā€¦ hard on him.ā€
ā€œJason?ā€ Chrissy frowned.
ā€œYeah, I dunno, something about finding the body first but Steve didnā€™t really wanna talk about it. I think, maybe, we should talk about it in a day or something.ā€ Robin fidgeted with her rings, looking from Chrissy to upstairs to the floor.
Eddieā€™s eyes were drawn to the upper floor where he could still faintly hear Steveā€™s heartbeat, the occasional foot fall, like he was pacing but trying to be quiet about it. His lips pursed into a thin, worried line.
ā€œHe didnā€™t tell you anything?ā€ Dustin asked.
Robin gave him an unexpectedly angry look, so Eddie jumped in. ā€œDustin, man, youā€™ve been researching all day, give it a break alright?ā€
ā€œButā€“ā€
ā€œPush it and Iā€™ll tell Jeff to kill off your beloved little warlock next session.ā€
Dustinā€™s eyes narrowed, but Eddieā€™s serious tone mustā€™ve gotten through to him because all he did was huff and cross his arms.
ā€œMaybe we should go,ā€ El said, looking upstairs now too.
ā€œI canā€™t drive, and Eddie canā€™t until tonight.ā€
ā€œShouldnā€™t leave at all, probably,ā€ Eddie added dourly.
ā€œI can drive you.ā€ Everyone turned to Chrissy. ā€œIā€™ve got my momā€™s station wagon. Itā€™s no trouble.ā€
Eddie nudged Chrissy with his knee. ā€œYou sure you wanna handle these gremlins?ā€ he teased.
ā€œIā€™ll keep him in line,ā€ Max smirked while Dustin pouted.
Dustin crossed his arms and tilted his head back imperiously. ā€œEddie said grem-lins, plural, Maxine.ā€
ā€œYouā€™re pushing it, nerd.ā€
Robin stood in a sudden flurry of movement. ā€œOkay! Better get all of you gremlins home before Chrissy decides to take back her very generous offer. Come on, shoes on, chop chop!ā€ She clapped her hands in a way that Eddie intrinsically knew came from Steve, and the kids all stood and started towards the door for their shoes.
El, though, stopped beside Eddie. ā€œCan you thank Steve for having us over for us please?ā€ She said it so seriously, so earnestly, that Eddie swore his heart grew two sizes.
ā€œOf course kiddo.ā€ He reached out and ruffled her long hair, and she giggled while leaning away.
When Chrissy got up to leave, Eddie joined her, wrapping her in another hug before she left. ā€œThanks for taking everyone home.ā€
She shrugged. ā€œItā€™s something I can do, at least. And, well, maybe Robin can tell me a little more about what Steve mightā€™ve said about Jason. Iā€™mā€¦ Iā€™m really worried, Eddie.ā€
ā€œI know Chris. Iā€™m sorry.ā€ He squeezed her a little tighter. ā€œWeā€™ll figure it out.ā€
With the brats corralled, Eddie waved them off from the shade of the doorway. Robin gave him a short, awkward wave, a blush over her cheeks when Chrissy put her hand on the back of her seat to back out of the driveway, and Eddie filed that away for another time. Then he shut the door against the sunlight and returned to the now eerily silent house.
It was something he noticed the longer he stayed here. When Steve was away at work, Eddie left to his own devices, all he had to do was read the books heā€™d brought, maybe snoop around for some others, plunk away at his guitar and fill the silence with the old records that the Harringtons left to collect dust. But even with the music playing, the house seemed to absorb noise, like a museum. And there were barely any signs of life, except for the occasional bit of mess that Steve left around when he ran out of time in the mornings. Everything that Steve left alone: the whole dining room, entire guest rooms, even the hallways seemed to eat noise and repel clutter that showed anyone lived there, even Steve.
Eddie had, admittedly, snuck into Steveā€™s room once or twice. Heā€™d left the door open, what was a curious, bored vampire expected to do? There, thankfully, was some personality, though the awful plaid wallpaper did its best to drown it out. The messed up bed that Steve couldnā€™t be bothered to fix up, a few clothes scattered by his hamper, some magazinesā€“sports, mostly, and some gossip mags, to Eddieā€™s disappointmentā€“piled on his nightstand. He didnā€™t bother poking around in any drawers, didnā€™t want to risk moving too much in case Steve caught on and got miffed.
What did Steve even do in this house all alone? What did he do before he had to cohabitate with Eddie, who, he would readily and sometimes proudly admit about himself, was a rather irritating guest at times. Eddie kinda hated thinking about it too hard.
But right now, the silence was disturbed, just barely. Eddie could still hear the pacing above.
He was torn. Something in Eddie wanted to check on him, but Steve hadnā€™t come down to even speak to the kids. He wouldā€™ve heard them leaving. Would he even want the nosy freeloader in his house knocking at his door?
His feet started to move towards the stairs before he even decided. Each stair he climbed, he tried convincing himself that he was just heading to his own roomā€“not his room, the guest room, nothing in this place was his, jesusā€“but he passed the door that he should have stopped at. Kept going to the end of the hall, and the pacing stopped.
ā€œHey, uh, Steve?ā€ Eddie knocked on the doorframe, even though it was completely unnecessary. ā€œYou alright in there?ā€
No response. Eddie could hear Steveā€™s heart, racing too fast to be mistaken for calm. A few seconds passed. A few more.
ā€œSorry,ā€ Eddie mumbled. Turning, he was about to walk back to his room when the door opened.
ā€œItā€™s fine.ā€
Steve had one hand on the door, the other hanging limp at his side. He was still covered in dirt; smelled like it too, fresh soil and sweat, and something distinctly off and Eddie had to fight wrinkling his nose at. It made Steve look pale, and Eddie felt that was wrong. Steve was built for the sun, for being golden, he shouldnā€™t look pale.
ā€œYou should shower, dude,ā€ Eddie said, trying to a rueful smile, but the humour didnā€™t land. Steve just shrugged it off.
ā€œI guess. I will.ā€ He turned and wandered back into his room, leaving the door open, and Eddie couldnā€™t find a reason not to follow. It felt enough like an invitation. Walking in, he tried to make it seem like he was seeing the bedroom for the first time, but Steve scoffed.
ā€œI know youā€™ve been in here, Eddie, I could smell you in here when I got home once, you donā€™t have to put on an act.ā€
Eddie stiffened. ā€œOh. Uh. Sorry dude.ā€
ā€œWhatever. I kind of expected it.ā€
ā€œThatā€™s a lot of trust youā€™re placing in the resident drug dealer.ā€
Steve shot him an unimpressed look. ā€œYou sell weed, Eddie,ā€ he said flatly. Wobbling his head, Eddie mouthed the words back at Steve silently, mockingly, which finally drew a tired laugh from him. It wasnā€™t the kind of laughter he could get after verbally tearing Frank Sinatra to shreds while they got high on the living room floor, but it was good enough. The sound didnā€™t last, though, fading like every other sound in this fucking house, leaving a gaping silence where they both stood awkwardly, a few scant feet between them.
Eddie shifted on his feet, stuck his hands in his pockets then took them out and folded his arms over his chest. Meanwhile, he watched Steve, who couldnā€™t look up from the carpet. ā€œYou probably donā€™t want me lingering around in your domicile, so Iā€™ll justā€“ā€
ā€œAre you thirsty?ā€
Now that, that rang out through the room. ā€œWhat?ā€
ā€œYou spent all day around the kids, and you havenā€™t fed since, uh, since last time when everyone was around.ā€ Steve finally looked up from the carpet, something burning in his eyes.
ā€œNah, Iā€™m fine, pretty good actually,ā€ Eddie stumbled out.
ā€œYou said you fed from Chrissy every few days though.ā€
Truth was, Eddie was hungry. It was sort of an ever-present thing, though easy to manage once heā€™d learned how to sate it in a way that actually satisfied him. And yeah, it had been a few days since heā€™d bitten Steveā€™s wrist, but the way Steve acted around him the next dayā€“flighty and awkward, not sticking around in the same room too longā€“made Eddie less than inclined to ask for more.
ā€œI can deal, Harrington, itā€™s fine.ā€
ā€œItā€™s not fine.ā€ Steve started walking closer. There was a determination, a heat, in his gaze that made Eddie feel a little warm and jumpy, and he started backing up. ā€œYou should be in peak condition if something happens. And Iā€“ā€
Steve reached out behind Eddie and closed the door, Eddie having to back up against it, trapping them both in the horribly plaid room that Eddie couldnā€™t even see, because Steve was right there, in his space, so close Eddie could feel the warmth radiating from his body. Steveā€™s arm was still outstretched, hand pressed against the door by Eddieā€™s head.
ā€œI want you to.ā€
Heat flashed under Eddieā€™s skin, his sluggish heart beating faster. ā€œWhat the fuck do you mean, man?ā€
ā€œI mean.ā€ Steve ran a head through his hair, messing it up worse, his chest rising and falling rapidly. ā€œIt makes me feel goodā€“better. The bite. And, you gotta drink, so itā€™s like. Win-win or whatever.ā€
ā€œWin-win?ā€ Eddie said, high and nervy, ā€œThe hell? How does it make you feel good?ā€
ā€œJust, please?ā€
His voice sent a lance of desire and hunger through Eddieā€™s spine. Steveā€™s face looked haggard, dirt caked into every worryline, but something burned in his eyes, something needy, and he was so fucking close they were sharing breath. Eddie could see the blood coursing through his neck, the artery so close to the skin, and he mustā€™ve stared long enough, hesitated enough, that it spurred Steve on. He deliberately pulled down the collar of his shirt and tilted his head to the side, baring his long, freckled neck to Eddie.
That desperate, unnatural hunger that had haunted Eddie since he woke up on a cold forest floor in Chrissyā€™s arms, ever-present and voracious, grew like arousal in Eddieā€™s gut. Saliva pooled under his tongue and, unbidden, his teeth began to elongate as his gaze locked onto that pulsing rush tantalisingly close to his face. The longer he looked, the faster Steveā€™s heart raced, the more tempting he was, the warm scent of his heightened emotions wafting into the air like wine and pulling Eddie closer.
Just a taste, he promised himself.Ā
Eddie let one of his hands wrap around the back of Steveā€™s neck, fingers threading through his soft hair, while he grabbed the hand Steve was using to hold the shirt down, pulling it further out of the way. One last glance at Steveā€™s face, and Eddie saw his eyes had gone heavy-lidded, his mouth dropping open just slightly when Steve caught sight of Eddieā€™s fangs. Cocking one eyebrow, he tilted his head further, into Eddieā€™s waiting palm, trusting heā€™d be held, and Eddie couldnā€™t hold himself back any longer.
He surged forward, and bit into Steveā€™s neck. The first gush of rich, metallic blood made Eddie groan and Steve gasp. Instinct made Eddie bite harder, deeper, his teeth sinking without resistance into flesh and muscle.Ā  Eddieā€™s fingers clenched where they held Steve, pressing him flush against his own body. Steve didnā€™t even flinch, seeming to arch into the touch, panting. His skin flushed; Eddie could feel the flood of warmth down Steveā€™s neck from his face as it bloomed against Eddieā€™s cheek.
Feeling bold and ravenous, Eddie withdrew from Steveā€™s neck to manhandle him against the door instead, slamming him against it with a bang and pressing against the long line of his body before licking up the rivulets dripping from the punctures. The soft oh he drew from Steve felt as intoxicating as his blood. Clinging to Steve like he was, Eddie didnā€™t feel his hands move until Steveā€™s fingers dug into his side, keeping Eddie close.
Steveā€™s free hand clutched Eddieā€™s, the one resting on the unmarred side of his neck, twining their fingers together and squeezing, and Eddieā€™s breath hitched as he squeezed back. He laved the flat of his tongue over the wounds before pressing his lips around them in an open-mouthed kiss and sucked, drawing a fresh flood to the surface. The taste was fucking addictive. Something lurked in Steveā€™s blood that made the most base, monstrous parts of Eddie sing and snarl with greed, something heated and needy.
It clicked, when Steveā€™s hand roved down. Grabbed Eddieā€™s ass though his jeans to hold him still while Steve rocked his hips up, his hard dick brushing against Eddieā€™s own and making them both moan. And oh shit, Eddie was so hard it was painful.
That taste was desire, hormone-spiked blood, more potent than any drug or liquor Eddieā€™s ever had. The instant he placed it, he knew he wanted more. More blood, more of Steve. He met the next roll of hips with a reedy whimper, muffled against Steveā€™s neck as he still drank deeply of that heady taste, let Steveā€™s hand guide him this time, enjoying the thrill of being led. Until.
ā€œFuck, Eddie,ā€ Steve groaned, low but loud in Eddieā€™s ear, and reality crashed down around him.
Eddie shoved himself off of Steve, ripping himself out of his grasp and pressing the back of his hand to his blood-stained mouth. Wide, panicked eyes met Steveā€™s, still heavy-lidded and dark but growing confused. God, what a vision he was as he leaned against the door, gasping for breath and hard in his jeans, flushed deliciously red despite being drank from like a fucking juice box. It wasā€¦ it was terrifying. Fear sparked and caught in Eddieā€™s chest. What the fuck was he thinking!?
Brows furrowed, Steve stepped forward. ā€œEddie? What is it?ā€
ā€œShit.ā€
Eddie bolted. Dodged past Steve, whipped the door open and ran to the guest room as fast as his unnatural speed let him. He slammed the door behind himself and braced against it, scared that Steve would try to bust it down as soon as he came to his senses. And he would. There was no fucking way Eddie could get away with that.
He knew his bite did something. Chrissy had tried to do research for him, but couldnā€™t find much without Jason catching on, but sheā€™d told him the bite makes prey less likely to fight back. But sheā€™d only ever relaxed, like getting high, notā€“not like Steve trying to rub one out on him. Not like moaning Eddieā€™s name while they were so close together Eddie could still feel how it rumbled in his own chest.
Anxiously, Eddie licked his lips and only tasted Steve, wincing at how that made his cock throb against his zipper. ā€œShit,ā€ he whispered shakily. A manic laugh threatened to bubble up but he swallowed it back.
That was so stupid. All of it. He shouldā€™ve realised as soon as Steve asked to be bitten again that something wasnā€™t normal about this and put a stop to it. Couldā€™ve called Chrissy; she was coming by tomorrow anyway. Now he had to worry about Steve kicking him out and forcing him to walk home with the murderer still at large. The one who fucking framed him, for a reason none of them have discovered yet. He let his head fall back against the door with a hollow thud, and waited.
Minutes passed, then hours. The sun began to set, and Eddie found himself anxiously pacing around the room, packing his duffel bag then unpacking it, his clothes strewn out of it like a racoon had rifled through them all and found his wardrobe lacking. Yet through his own chaos, Eddie couldnā€™t stop himself from keeping an ear out for Steve.
He hadnā€™t left his room, not once. Sometimes he paced, and Eddie caught the occasional frustrated huff. When Steveā€™s habit of talking to himself kicked in, Eddie resolutely ignored itā€“meaning, of course, that he listened anyway but felt deeply guilty about it. But nothing he heard made any logical sense. ā€œWhat did I do?ā€ spat as a frustrated whisper was the most baffling, but Eddie refused to contemplate that it might mean anything other than Steve wondering how heā€™d gotten suckered into bumping clothed uglies with The Freak.
So Eddie paced and unpacked and re-packed and stewed over the countless stupid life choices heā€™d made to bring him to this moment until the sun was well beyond the horizon and his hair was a frizzy mess with how often heā€™d been digging his fingers into it. The carpet, shockingly, didnā€™t show a single dent with all the trudging around heā€™d done.
Simultaneously wiped out and still wound up, Eddie flopped onto the bed with an explosive sigh and slapped his palms over his face, grunting loudly. If Steve was debating whether he would kick Eddie out or not, heā€™d rather Steve get on with it and put him out of his misery before the sun came up. He didnā€™t want to burn to a crisp before he got to see Wayne again.
ā€œFuck it,ā€ came another irritated whisper from Steveā€™s room. Eddie braced himself for stomping down the hall, for Steve ripping the door open, furious, demanding that Eddie leave. Instead, he heard bed springs squeak. It took little effort for him to listen closer, frowning in confusion.
Then, Eddie heard the quiet zip of jeans being undone, and shuffling. A relieved sigh.
What?
Was Steve doing what Eddie thought he was doing? There was no way. No fucking way. Sure, Eddie had been staving off the raging hormones heā€™d drank straight from Steveā€™s veins all night with little success, hoping heā€™d burn through them with his pacing and ignoring how heā€™d been half-hard for most of it. Steve had to have crashed from the high by now.
And yet. There was a hitched breath from behind the two doors separating them. Eddie swallowed, and dragged his hands down his face, letting them flop to his sides. This might be Steveā€™s home, but did he really have to do this now?
Eddie didnā€™t even want to admit what had happened, not that it helped. With Steve apparently jerking it just down the hall, though, the images rose unbidden behind Eddieā€™s scrunched eyelids anyway. How the blood flowed slowly over the tendon in Steveā€™s neck to pool in the divot between his collarbones, the dark desire in his blown-out pupils. The way Steveā€™s fingers dug into the meat of Eddieā€™s ass to pull him where Steve wanted, right against his cock.
The sound of Eddieā€™s name in Steveā€™s mouth as his lips brushed Eddieā€™s ear.
He swore soundlessly. Wriggling a little and hissing at the growing tightness in his pants, Eddie sent up prayers to whatever deity was listening to make him Not Horny. No thoughts of old people or relatives or complex dungeon traps could take his mind, or his hearing, off of Steve masturbating quietly just a few feet away. Didnā€™t he realise that Eddie could hear him? Steve wasnā€™t the only one with super hearing. It was rude, and terrible hosting behaviour, andā€“
Steve moaned softly, though it cut off like he knew he might be heardā€“too fucking late for thatā€“and Eddie wanted to scream in frustration so badly he clamped his hand over his mouth. His dick throbbed, though, at the new sounds echoing his way. Wet, slick sounds.
Fuck. Swallowing down a wave of guilt, Eddie let his hand trail over the bedspread, along his hip, and cupped his dick through his jeans with a shuddery sigh. He bit his lips together to make sure no noises escaped as he squeezed himself. Itā€™d been too long. Out of respect to his werewolf host, heā€™d hadnā€™t rubbed one out the whole time heā€™d been at Steveā€™s. Steve, apparently, had no such reservations. Soā€¦
So why not? Why the hell not. Eddie undid his fly and quietly as he could slipped his cock out, already hard, the tip flushed red. He couldnā€™t help remembering that he had Steveā€™s blood in his body now. How heā€™d tasted. Breathing heavily, Eddie stroked himself, thinking of the way Steveā€™s plush lips parted, the fire in his eyes as he begged Eddie to bite himā€¦ how big his cock felt, though it was trapped in his jeans.
The familiar weight of his own cock twitched in his hand, a spurt of precome dripping down, slicking the way. He could hear how Steveā€™s heart rate picked up now that heā€™d given up trying not to listen; now that it, too, had become familiar.
Steve made another sound. A groan, deep in his chest. Eddieā€™s mouth dropped open with a harsh sigh. He was so fucking turned on. The taboo of listening to Steve get off, jacking off to it, praying Steve couldnā€™t hear him too, made that frisson under his skin rise and burn so fast Eddie started to feel breathless, wound tight.
He stroked himself faster, hips canting up into his grip, desperate to chase the feeling as he imagined how Steve looked sprawled on his bed with his massive hand wrapped around his cock. Eddie couldnā€™t help wondering what itā€™d feel like to have Steveā€™s hand replace his own and that image made him clamp his mouth shut around a quiet whimper.Ā
Eddie heard Steve swear again, his voice going a little higher, and Eddie found himself nodding, like the other man could see him. He wanted to be seen. Wanted Steve to rush in, see him furiously pumping his dick and know exactly what got him here. Maybe heā€™d crowd Eddie against the bed and start to take him apart with his long fingers, grind their cocks together, fuck his way inside as they kissed all heated and dirty and chant Eddieā€™s nameā€“
Steve moaned, then, quiet enough that Eddie almost missed what he said.
ā€œEddie.ā€
Shock forced a desperate whine out of Eddieā€™s throat before he choked it off with a gasp. Oh shit. Oh shit. He froze, could tell Steve had too. Steve heard him. He knew. He felt his heart in his throat, thundering away.
Until he heard it again. A tentative, ā€œEddie?ā€ from down the hall. Confirming heā€™d been caught. Why didnā€™t Steve sound pissed?
There was the distinct click of a cap being opened. Still frozen, Eddie couldnā€™t believe his ears when he heard Steve start up again, jerking himself off slower now, the sounds slicker, wetter. Heā€¦ he knew Eddie was listening, could easily guess why Eddie had fucking whined like that, and he was stillā€¦
God. Fuck. Oh fuck that was hot. And terrifying. How the hell was this even happening!?
Steve keened, loudly, and Eddie cursed as his hips bucked helplessly into the hand still wrapped around his aching cock. This was insane, absolutely nuts; Eddie had never even thought of something like this despite his expansive and wildly horny imagination. But he followed suit and started fucking into his fist, fast and filthy, past the point of caring that Steve could hear the bed creaking slightly with his movements.
And then Steve did it again. ā€œFuck, Eddie,ā€ he moaned. Deliberately. Eddie couldnā€™t hold back the needy cry that rose from his throat, muffled as he bit his lip against the growing pleasure sparking along his nerves. He was gonna come, quickly, felt it barreling closer like a freight train. Steve wasnā€™t holding back his sounds anymore either, every gasp and groan unconcealed, stroking his cock without any fucking shame.
Eddie was shaking, panting hard, losing his rhythm. Thoughtlessly he started to beg, ā€œPlease, please please please.ā€
ā€œShit, yeah, do it, cā€™mon Eddie,ā€ Steve urged, ā€œgonna come too, oh shit!ā€
Fireworks exploded behind his eyes. Every muscle in Eddieā€™s body seized as he came, whining so fucking loud as he spilled over his fingers, cum splattering his shirt and soaking in warm and sticky, cock pulsing hard when he heard Steve cry out, a satisfied, guttural thing. Gasping for breath, Eddie went limp on the bed, his mind empty of all thought except for the way Steve moaned his name, how he sounded when he came.
There was no more movement from Steveā€™s room. Eddie could hear him in there, his breathing evening out along with his heartbeat, but he didnā€™t get up.
Was he waiting for Eddie? There was no way heā€™d go over there himself. He was still processing the everything that just happened. What if Steve had still been affected by the bite, and now that heā€™d gotten it out of his system he regretted literally jacking off with Eddie? More or less.
Eddieā€™s anxieties swirled through his mind until morning. Steve didnā€™t leave his room once.

in my uninformed opinion, compostable and recyclable utensils and containers from restaurants and fast food places are pretty performative if they can only be recycled/composted at specific facilities and the restaurants arenā€™t providing a place to drop off these items within the building or something
like where am i, random person in a rural area, going to find a place to commercially compost this singular container for mac n cheese. if i had to guess, a majority of these items, especially straws, are just getting thrown in the trash

Hi! I'm here from a popular post of yours about humanity's love for sheep and saw you were a sheep caretaker. This is a job i really want to do. That said i am extremely frail (i have no disability that i know of, but it still sucks) and fear that the job might be too physical for me. I cant find any resource detailing the average day of a sheep caretaker in my native language except for websites trying to hire. So i guess my question is... what does your day look like (or can you get accomodations of sorts, like focusing on milking the sheep idk)! I am really motivated and ready to accept a part time job but if i knew i could manage with a full time contract i would love to get that extra money lmfao
Hi friend. I'm glad the post inspired you to love sheep as much as I do.
I will preface this with a very important distinction: my sheep were petting zoo sheep. It was a very small managed herd in a relatively small area that was kept immaculately clean.
These sheep had lots of 1 on 1 time with humans and saw caretakers as a source of food and safety. A commercial sheep operation has the potential to be VERY different.
Range sheep are often barely handled except to be given vetting on a tight schedule, and otherwise live in large flocks outside where they don't directly interact with people on a daily basis. These range sheep can be semi feral and not at ALL cooperative like a small herd of sheep managed by a hands on shepherd like what you might see on, say, a smaller farm or just for fun operation.
So suffice to say, if you're working with a very large herd of range sheep, your experience will differ from my experience with my Jacob's sheep pals who saw me every day and got hands on messing with several times a day.
I know exactly how you feel with being frail. I've never been a strong person and I have a low heat tolerance. Farm work, even on a petting zoo setting, is always going to be very hard work.
My day consisted of raking out the sheep pens daily, including sweeping out any old hay or straw and replacing as needed. The entire pen, even the outdoor areas, was cleaned. I would then feed the sheep (a hay bag with approximately 5 pounds of hay per sheep) and water the sheep (five gallon bucket which had to be dumped and refilled and carried back to the pen by hand)
I also gave the sheep enrichment items such as branches or small pieces of fruit. Old enrichment items had to be removed and reusable items like balls or toys had to be cleaned. Reusable items would be taken back to the dish station far away from the pens, scrubbed, and returned.
In addition, I would also take the sheep waste in a large trash bin to the compost heap with the help of a small tractor. The waste bin containing the droppings and old hay could weigh anywhere between 15 to 40 pounds depending on how much water waste got into the hay that day. This bucket had to be loaded by hand into the back of the compost tractor.
These tasks would continue every day no matter what weather. Our weather here is highly variable and can range from 100F in summer to -50F in winter.
It is a very physically demanding job to care for a petting zoo, and while I was often physically exhausted, I did also gain quite a bit of muscle from the experience and by the end of my time there I had more strength and endurance than when I had started.
Keep in mind, if you were to get a position similar to mine, you would be dealing with more than just sheep. I was also personally responsible for horses, cattle, goats, chickens, rabbits, alpacas and a giant sulcata tortoise. So you will be doing all of the same stuff you did for those sheep for the other animals in your care, and if you get big ones like cows, the weight limit goes up. I often had fifty pounds or more of cow waste alone. And that too was loaded by hand.
My animals were friendly and a joy to take care of, but the level of cleanliness demanded by the facility meant that the work done was very messy and had lots of lifting.
If you work with range sheep, you probably won't be scooping poop with a rake while a friendly lamb bothers you for attention. You may be physically pinning an angry ewe nearly as big as you are in a pen to force feed her an antibiotic while she tries to smash you. You may be herding sheep on a four wheeler. You may be assisting with births and expected to perform procedures such as banding, docking or mulesing.
If that level of activity is off putting, you may be able to find some fulfillment in volunteering for a livestock rescue or even working part time at a livestock auction house. If you're strong enough to manhandle a sheep you could even learn to shear. But regrettably there isn't any physically easy way to care for sheep that I am aware of.
I hope this helps you get a feel for the level of activity you'd expect in a similar role. Livestock animals are very fun and rewarding despite the effort they take. I hope to own my own small herd of Jacob's sheep as pets and pasture ornaments some day.

I wish I could have chickens! They are adorable little dinosaurs. But I currently live in an apartment and landlords are so picky about pets if they are allowed at all. So if I ever get the opportunity to I would like to have chickens.
I love birds in general honestly! Chickens are the one Iā€™m most interested in probably because I live in rural farm area ā„¢ļø
They're wonderful little guys! If you're ever able to get a bit of land they're great for eggs, controlling bugs, compost, and just general entertainment haha. When they're well taken care of it's wild how much better backyard chicken eggs are compared to commercial, I'm still thrown off when I see pale yellow yolks cause I'm like. You're supposed to be bright orange lol
