Even though the Kansas Jayhawks began the season slogging through a five game losing streak, and still have a -.500 record in the Big 12, their last three games have morphed this season into something they might actually remember with pride. It’s not just that they derailed BYU’s undefeated streak last week—it’s how they did it, in a way that felt absurd, unhinged, and entirely emblematic of a team determined to prove that chaos can be a strategy.
youtube
They also took down the Deion Sanders-led Colorado Buffaloes, a team buoyed by a media frenzy and the almost mythic talents of Travis Hunter, a two-way phenom, and Shedeur Sanders, Deion’s quarterback son whose precision and poise have made them both strong contenders for both the Heisman and the No. 1 draft pick. It wasn’t just a win; it was the kind of statement game that flipped the script on what anyone thought the Jayhawks were capable of this season.
youtube
The Jayhawks, once hyped as potential Big 12 contenders before the season began, have settled into their new identity as a spoiler team with almost defiant glee. Their wins against conference heavyweights have thrown the Big 12 standings into a chaotic four-way tie, leaving teams like BYU and Colorado scrambling to salvage their postseason dreams. Now, BYU and Colorado are stuck in the indignity of rooting for underdogs—Kansas State and Arizona Wildcats—to pull off upsets next week. If that doesn’t happen, Iowa State and Arizona State will be the ones securing their spots in the Big 12 title game, leaving BYU and Colorado to grapple with the sharp letdown of a season that, despite all its fireworks, would end on a distinctly bitter note.

Sakiko & Shedeur Reality
Season 1 Episode 1
—-
Sakiko | Shedeur
Hi, I’m Sakiko Creed, daughter of Hall of Fame Heavyweight Champion Amari Creed, and I’m also a boxer in the AAU women’s division.
I’m Shedeur Sanders, son of NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, and I play quarterback for Trinity Christian High School
And this is our life.
—-
“So, are you prepared for Shedeur to go back to school and start football again?” Solane Creed leaned her body against the wall near the door of her seventeen-year-old daughter's bedroom, her arms crossed in quiet observation. It had been a while since she had done reality television, and adjusting to the cameras again felt strange. The last time was Creed: Love On & Off the Ring, a show she filmed with her late husband and their daughter, who had been just a toddler at the time.
“I have no other choice.” Sakiko shrugged, her gaze drifting downward to the three tiny humans sprawled across her bed, a perfect blend of her and her boyfriend, Shedeur Sanders. The triplets lay on their stomachs, cooing softly as they worked through tummy time.
Solane moved from the wall, her sharp eyes scanning her daughter's face. “What’s going on in that pretty head of yours?” She lifted one of her grandsons, AJ, into her arms, gently bouncing him as she took a seat beside Sakiko.
Sakiko sighed, her fingers absentmindedly brushing over her babies’ onesies as she fought to keep her emotions in check. “I’m just upset with myself because this year is already not starting how I planned it,” she admitted, voice barely above a whisper. “I was finally supposed to start regular school for once, but Trinity Leadership rejected my application.”
Sakiko | Shedeur
At the beginning of last year, I was having terrible cramps—or at least, that’s what I thought they were. The pain was unbearable, crawling up my spine like fire, making it impossible to move. My mom rushed me to the hospital, and that’s when I found out I wasn’t just having cramps. I was in labor. With triplets.
All I remember was being in the middle of the state championship game when my dad pulled me off the field. He was furious. I didn’t understand why. All he said was, “You need to go to the parking lot. Your mom’s waiting to take you to the hospital.” I was still confused. I turned to my mom for answers, and she just said, “Puppy is in labor.”
Me and Shedeur started dating in the middle of his freshman year, and we only had sex once. We used condoms, so we were beyond shocked that I was pregnant. Especially since I never had any of the typical symptoms. No nausea. No cravings. The only thing that changed was my eyesight, but they chalked that up to me just needing glasses.
Honestly, I blame my older brother, Bucky. He was the one who gave me the condom. So, in my opinion, the triplets are his fault.
We have the oldest, Deion Ossacin Sanders Jr.—D3 for short. He’s named after his grandfather and uncle so that Papa Smurf wouldn’t be too mad at us. Then there’s Amari Creed Jr.—AJ—named after my father. And lastly, we have the baby, Shedeur Deion Sanders—SJ—named after this dummy right here.
They are juniors because we didn’t know what else to name them. We never talked about having kids or anything like that.
__
“Well, on the positive side, are you excited to go back to training with Cane?” Solane bounced AJ on her lap, causing him to let out a loud giggle, proudly showing off his one and only tooth.
“Yeah.” A smile made its way onto Sakiko’s face as she reminisced about being in the ring, winning her titles as an undefeated champion. “I’ve been itching to get back into the ring ever since the doctor told me I couldn’t until my body has fully healed.”
“And your mental,” Solane added. “But from what I can see, you and Shedeur are in a good position.”
“For now,” Sakiko laughed, knowing that with both of them entering their junior year, more challenges were on the horizon—college talks, decisions about the future, and figuring out who was following whom.
Solane | Deion
When I took Puppy to the hospital and they told me she was in active labor, I felt like my body had just been slammed to the ground. Everything became disoriented, like the world had tilted on its axis.
I didn’t even know Grown and Puppy were dating, let alone having sex. The way they acted around each other had always been the same since they were kids—playful, familiar, nothing out of the ordinary. So when Solane called my phone in the middle of the state championship game, I felt like I was about to have a heart attack.
The look on my daughter’s face told me she was just as confused and disoriented. Because if you had looked at Puppy’s body, you would have never thought she was pregnant—let alone carrying triplets. I still don’t even understand how she had triplets when, genetically, both sides of her family are only predisposed to twins.
I think the only reason we didn’t make it as big of a deal as we should have was because everything was happening way too fast to process. If we, as parents, had at least a single day to absorb the fact that our kids were not only having sex but also expecting, we would have gone through the natural process of asking, “What the fuck were they thinking?” But at the same time, we would have focused on preparing them for parenthood. Because I think, on both sides, abortion and adoption were never really an option.
I will say that, from the get-go, Grown and Puppy were prepared… almost as if they planned it.
God, I hope they didn’t. From what I’ve been told, a condom was used.
But knowing Shedeur… he probably didn’t even put it on right.
After Puppy gave birth, as protocol, a social worker had to visit to ask how the kids were going to take care of the babies. I was lowkey scared, expecting them to look at us like it was our responsibility, and I had to think carefully about how to answer certain questions.
While they did need help answering some of the more technical questions, they made it very clear that our grandkids were their full responsibility. If they needed backup, we would be there to help, but financially—that was on them, 100%.
Sakiko pulled out her phone and showed a joint savings account with nearly $10 million in it. I don’t even know how two sixteen-year-olds got their hands on $10 million.
I didn’t even know they had a joint savings account. Did you?
I knew they were putting together their spare money, but when I hear teens say they had a savings account, I assumed it was chump change. Not hundreds of dollars invested in stocks, quietly transforming into millions.
I just know that was Puppy’s idea.
---
“I know your original plan was to skip college and go pro,” Solane brought up the one topic her daughter had been dreading. Sakiko no longer felt like she was on track, following her plan. Now, she was on the kids’ time and on Shedeur’s time. Because, in the state of Texas, since the two weren’t married, Sakiko was legally the primary parent by default. And she didn’t want to create a broken home—she wanted her children to grow up with a traditional father figure, just as they had. So, since Shedeur’s career path was more standardized, the new plan was for Sakiko to follow him with the kids, rather than setting up a home base where Shedeur would attend school while she traveled back and forth between the states and Japan, where she originally wanted to establish her career—just like her father.
“But now, with the triplets, what’s going to happen?”
“I guess me and the gang are just going to pack our stuff and follow their daddy.” Sakiko joked, trying to lighten the weight of her inner turmoil.
Solane sighed, reaching out to tuck a loose strand of her daughter’s hazel brown-colored hair behind her ear in a small, comforting motion. “I guess, as your mother, I just don’t want you to feel like you’re just… you know, following along because you have no other choice.”
Her voice softened. “But based on how you and Shedeur were raised when it comes to the idea of family, I think you’re doing what’s best. I just don’t want you to settle for mediocrity or neglect yourself—physically or mentally. Not saying Shedeur would ever let that happen. It’s just… you no longer have room to be just a teenager. You’re a mother now, to three babies who depend on you for everything.”
“I think I’m just going to wait till the triplets are like three, then I’ll go pro, because maybe by then I can convince Emi to be their nanny,” Sakiko finally looked her mother in the eye.
“I think she will love that,” Solane laughed, causing the babies to start laughing along. “I heard the other day she’s already teaching them Japanese. English might be their second language, just like it was for you. You didn’t know how to speak English until you were ten, right?”
“The only English words I knew how to say were orange juice, football, Oreos, and football—all thanks to Shedeur,” Sakiko commented.
Sakiko | Shedeur
I want my kids to be cultured and not boring, so they’re going to learn about their Japanese heritage and why there are dragons all over the house and on my back. I want them to do the things I did growing up—like watching anime, going to the dojo, napping in the fountain room, and eating with chopsticks.
I just want them to play football.
What if they want to box and not play football?
They’re Sanders—they’re going to want to play football.
Yeah, you’re right. If we have more babies, I would want them to be girls so they want to box and I get to train them.
How many kids do you think we are going to have?I think we would have one more pregnancy. After that, it would be too much.
---
|Shedeur |
It’s game time. Junior season finna go crazy.
---
Before it was time to go out on the field and do what he does best, Shedeur found himself in the locker room, padded up and in uniform, surrounded by his teammates and coaches—one of them being his very own father, Deion Sanders, who was employed as the offensive coordinator.
“In the race, everyone runs. How you start can make your finish that much better,” the head coach said, giving a motivational speech to amp up the team for the game they were about to play. “Our end is off in the future, but we know we're gonna hold up that trophy, right?”
“Yes, sir,” the team responded.
“Right?”
“Yes, sir!”
“Let's make it a dynasty, baby. Let's get three. Get your name on the wall.”
|Shedeur |
Gonna show y’all what I’m really about.
---
“The only way we’re gonna win that championship is if everybody gets to put on that chain,” the coach said, raising up two gold chains that the team had won at the previous state championship. They served as a reminder of what was at stake.
Shedeur and his teammates got hyped, cheering loudly and pumping each other up before running out of the gym, making sure to bring the same energy to the field.
|Deion |
By the time we get to that sideline, I tell Shedeur I love him, but I’m no longer his dad—I’m his coach.
---
The Trinity Tigers had the ball after winning the coin flip against their opponent. Everyone got into position. This was the last second to shake off any nerves and lay it all on the field.
The ball was hiked, and Shedeur, as the quarterback, caught it and looked for a route to throw. In the final second, he found his receiver and released the ball—only to be sacked the next second.
After a few more minutes, Deion was ready to call a timeout, not liking how his players were starting off.
“Take what they give you,” Deion coached his quarterback. “Quit going for the eight and take what they give you, man. Throw the darn ball to somebody.”
The next few plays left Shedeur getting sacked more than he ever had before.
|Shedeur |
So this feels all wrong right now.
---
The second before halftime was called, Shedeur purposely laid himself on the ground to avoid an unnecessary tackle since he couldn’t find a route to pass the ball—all his receivers were covered.
“Come here.” The offensive coach looked at him with a serious, stern expression. “Come on, come on, come on.” He rushed the quarterback to make his way over faster.
“Put that chain down, please.” The older man glanced at one of the team’s assistants, who was holding the gold state championship chains. “What is wrong with you? Are you scared?”
He gets angry very fast, and he doesn’t know how to slow it down at all.
“Defense is as simple as it gets. They’re in the same darn place on every play,” Deion said as the two took a short walk down the sideline. “Come on! You’re better than this. Quit dropping the ball. You’re laying in the dirt right now. Do what you promised you were gonna do.” He finished before walking away, leaving Shedeur standing there to think about his next moves.
|Shedeur |
When Puppy gave birth to my sons, I promised my dad that I wouldn’t let the past six months affect my schoolwork and football. Instead, I told him I’d use it as motivation because now, I need to be good—I need to work on my craft so I can provide for my family. But, man, he yells so loud he knows how to make you not even wanna play.
___
“This can’t get any worse,” Deion Sanders muttered to himself. “Can’t get no worse—oh, Lord Jesus.” The coordinator watched as the defense slacked off, allowing the other team to score.
|Shedeur |
I feel like nothing is really working right now. You just gotta be tough.
___
“You’ve got to be a leader, man,” the offensive coordinator bent down to look at his quarterback, who was staring at the sideline instead of making eye contact, which only angered Deion more.
“Dawg, look at me. C’mon, dawg.”
Shedeur finally turned to his coach, making eye contact, but at that point, Deion had nothing more to say. He just wanted his quarterback to reflect on their previous conversations. And finally, it was like something clicked. The Trinity Tigers found themselves playing hard, putting numbers on the scoreboard.
“Dang, you take too long to score,” Shedeur complained from the sidelines.
“We looked at the information on Elijah Young. We have decided to rule him eligible,” the head coach read from the email sent by the committee, which allowed their transferred tight end to get on the field and help secure a win.
“There we go!”
“I need you—I need you to give him your pads so he can play. You understand?” The coach tapped one of his players to transfer his equipment so their tight end could get in immediately. “No, I’m dead serious. Christmas just came early, baby. All right, here we go.”
It was now halftime, and the scoreboard read, Trinity: 9 | Bishop: 6.
“You’re about to be beat by a team that shouldn’t even be on the same field with you,” the head coach yelled at his players, who all looked either tired, out of breath, or determined to bring home a win. “Wake up!”
|Shedeur |
At halftime, we all just got together and reevaluated. Overall, we thought this game was going to be a piece of cake for us. Eli got cleared, but still, it’s tough right now moving the ball down the field. We didn’t prepare as much as we should have. We’ve got to get the protections down. This is really like some trash.
“What was the protection?” the offensive coach asked his offensive line.
“We had across right. After that, I said ‘blitz, blitz’ so then they could block…” Shedeur responded, ready to defend his position.
“Did he hear that?” the coach yelled back.
“Yeah, I said offense on that side.” He pointed to the right end of the field.
|Shedeur |
Right now, we are just trying to secure the win.
___
With a burst of energy, the team made changes to the game plan and executed on the field, ending the game with a two-point lead. But although the scoreboard said one thing, the energy of the team said another.
|Shedeur |
Although the scoreboard said we won, we really lost.
___
“We’re one and one, so don’t get happy thinking we won,” the head coach was making his closing speech, with everyone in the locker room looking down in defeat despite the win. “We got more negative yards than positive yards. We don't know where to line up on defense. We’re telling you to blitz, and you're gonna tell me what you see. Listen to what we say.”
This time, Deion Sanders stood up to give his comments on the team’s performance.
“Interception was garbage today. We got fourth to the dingaling, and we can't get—why? Because that means we’re soft up front. That's hot garbage.
“If you can't do that, take the jersey off. That was pathetic.
“That's the bull junk you gave us.”
|Shedeur |
Right when I get home, no matter how tired I am or how much I want to sulk, I have responsibilities now.
___
After his first stop at home to drop off his equipment, take a shower, change his clothes, and finish his homework, the sixteen-year-old male found himself walking across the street to the Creed household to handle his nightly duties as a father.
“Hey,” he made his presence known as he took his shoes off at the door—a routine in the house, implemented by Sakiko and her grandmother, who followed Japanese traditions more than Solane.
“In the kitchen!” Sakiko called out.
“How was the game?” his girlfriend asked, starting the microwave as he sat down at the kitchen table.
“We won, but it doesn’t feel like we did. Just too many mistakes,” Shedeur played with his hair, looking over at his sons, who were asleep in their nappies.
“What do you think you have to work on?” Sakiko walked over to him with a plate of dirty rice, smothered turkey chops, and cabbage, placing it in front of him along with a fork and a red Solo cup filled with cold iced tea.
“Honestly, it's just the O-line and D-line messing up,” Shedeur pecked her cheek to show gratitude for the food before she sat down across from him with a water bottle in her hand.
“You guys will get better,” Sakiko comforted. “You always have a rocky start. Just gotta find your groove, and you’ll be back at states before you know it.”
“So what did you do today?” Shedeur looked at his girlfriend, wanting to know if she had a good day and not another day of feeling lonely and bored with the twins.
“I did my schoolwork with my tutor, took the triplets for a walk in the park, and met up with Cane at the gym.”
“Does this mean you’re going back to training?”
“I want to.” Sakiko smiled, watching SJ twitch in his sleep—something she found adorable. “My doctors cleared it. I’m just waiting for Emi to get back from Japan so she can watch your kids, and I can go to the gym without disrupting their routine. We worked so hard to get them on one.”
“Does this mean your plan to go pro and move to Japan in two years is back on?” Shedeur looked at his girlfriend with worry in his brown eyes, unsure if he was on limited time with his kids and wife.
“Maybe not exactly in two years, but I still do want to move to Japan.”
“After I go pro, right?” Shedeur smirked, hoping to change her mind just a little now that the babies were involved.
“That’s six years from now,” the curly-haired girl gawked. “I could be in my third year by then and then retire when I hit my thirties and coach or open my own gym.”
“Why don’t you just be based in America, where you’re from?”
“I’m not even from America,” Sakiko laughed. Solane gave birth to her daughter in Japan, where she lived for the first two years of her life since Sakiko wasn’t able to fly back and had to complete her traditional ceremonies. Legally, Sakiko was a migrant in the States with citizenship, the process was easier since Solane was a U.S. citizen by birth and Amari had a working visa.
“Yeah, but you’ve been here more…”
“I’ll think about it.”

Last Saturday's championship game between Oregon and Washington marked the unofficial end of one of the sport's longtime power conferences.
Ten of the 12 member schools are set to join a different conference in 2024, effectively dissolving the Pac 12, a conference that has existed since 1915.

Now it's just the Pac-2 with only Oregon State and Washington State left who have announced a six-game scheduing agreement with the Mountain West. What happens after next season is uncertain.
