pathetic isn’t really a word I‘d use for colin bridgerton. simon rather dying than marrying daphne was pathetic. anthony going through with marrying edwina until SHE mustered the courage to call everything off was pathetic.
colin contemplating his feelings, calling out his male acquaintances for their chauvinism, seeking advice from his mother and then immediately taking action and putting himself out there without even knowing if his feelings are reciprocated is the complete opposite of pathetic. that requires a whole lot of bravery.
I do appreciate that after the kiss Penelope is basically just going about life as normal and Colin is completely unable to be a functioning human being anymore
You do not realize how much that meant to me. What you said to my mother. No one has ever stood up for me like that.
Well, I will always stand up for you. Because I love you.
Pen calling Colin Mr. Bridgerton. Colin saying he wrote to her and she didn’t respond. Colin saying he misses her. Pen going off and letting him know he hurt her feelings. Now Colin is going to try to make it up to her by helping her gain the confidence she needs to find a husband.
This author believes that all of man's greatest inventions are nothing more than a distraction from what is most natural to us. Our instincts. The innate animal impulse that is inside even the most sophisticated of us. For when all is said and done, our nature will always win out...For in the battle between man and nature, it is quite clear that the battle is, in fact, between man and himself.
I truly cannot stop thinking about how the second Penelope says that they’re friends, Colin immediately tries to rectify. That he didn’t know what he was thinking. He was so ready to take it back. If she had rejected him, he literally wouldn’t have fought it. He would’ve repressed the shit out of it. To let her go and find someone else. He might’ve been hellbent on telling her up to that point, but the second it seems that she isn’t on the same page, he’s ready to back off.
