My Solo Adventures
A lot of things are happening in my life this year and I cannot thank the people who supported me on this journey of finding myself through my traveling.
Ever since I was a kid, between 5 & 6-ish, my Tatay Ben introduced me to traveling and riding a plane. Journeying from LOAKAN airport to Manila at that time was extremely and utterly cool (of course that time I didn’t know yet the word extremely or cool haha 😂 ).
Somehow that moment sparked in me that I want to do this for the rest of my life.
Traveling by plane gives me the adrenaline rush that some people experience in dancing, sports, music, fashion, photography, etc.
A lot of people doubted that I could not do this on my own, flying solo, that I would just hurt myself in the process, or this & that.
A lot of excuses.

On the other hand, I know that there are people who genuinely care about my LIFE. And for that, much love 😍...
My goal for this solo adventure was to put myself out there in the field of hungry dragons. To test my ability if I learn something from Hersenz’s Cognitive and Psychomotor Treatment (Wed group year 2020-2021).
I went to search & discover myself again by traveling. But some people have misplaced feelings over my decision to have this solo adventure of a lifetime.
This year I concluded my 20th flight ✈️

Cognition
is the "mental action or process of acquiring knowledge and understanding through thought, experience, and the senses".
It encompasses all aspects of intellectual functions and processes such as perception, attention, thought, imagination, intelligence, the formation of knowledge, memory and working memory, judgment and evaluation, reasoning and computation, problem-solving and decision-making, comprehension, and production of language. Cognitive processes use existing knowledge and discover new knowledge.
Psychomotor
Psychomotor learning is the relationship between cognitive functions and physical movement. Psychomotor learning is demonstrated by physical skills such as movement, coordination, manipulation, dexterity, grace, strength, and speed—actions that demonstrate fine or gross motor skills, such as the use of precision instruments or tools, and walking. Sports and dance are the richest realms of gross psychomotor skills.
Behavioral examples include driving a car, throwing a ball, and playing a musical instrument. In psychomotor learning research, attention is given to the learning of coordinated activity involving the arms, hands, fingers, and feet, while verbal processes are not emphasized.

How to go about slowly but steadily changing your thought reactions to situations-
I have an assortment of coins, game tokens, foreign currency, bathroom and bus tokens grandma accumulated, just the neat little things one might not realize have become something of a substantial amount until they're all together.
Due to life events my automatic thoughts are- 'so and so would steal them because it's money' and 'my sister would steal them just because they're mine'.
Before the thought cycle could carry me away I stopped myself, I looked at an individual coin and reminded myself why I had kept it, I looked at another, another. I actively made myself think about displaying them in a way that would being joy. You know what would be fun? Share some pictures of them online so other people can share in the joy this pile of objects can bring.
The day will come when my first thought, or at least my second, will be about the joy they will bring and not the negative that my thoughts were raised in.

If you experience guilt about how you responded during a traumatic event, remember that during a trauma but your logical brain shuts down and your survival brain makes a split second decision to either fight, flee, freeze, or fawn (befriend the threat) you did not get to choose, your survival brain did and you made it out alive which means it made a damn good choice.

Answering Depression
Receiving a MDD (major depressive disorder) diagnosis felt like answering the call from a persistent Unknown Caller.
My neuro-cellular phone would ring off the hook: *ring* Private Number *ring* Unknown Caller until I'd finally induce do not disturb mode with a drink or ten.
For years I ignored this relentlessly ominous caller because why answer an unknown identity? Well, the moment I answered life itself shifted after hearing their whisper. To my surprise the caller was kind of sweet, timid and longing for someone to listen. Their name is Depression and it was an honor to meet. At last there was enough emotional, mental & physical space to share a conversation. Answering Depressions' call saved my life and changed the way I perceive a valued term: eudaimonia.
For me, well being begins with acceptance. Recognizing negative thoughts, inhibiting habits & depressive states has helped me understand my intrinsic landscape. It's like sadness is related to grief as depression is related to denial. In order to be happy I have to answer Joy as much as Depression. Answering helps me recognize what's present more than absent. To process through depressive states we must accept, like a phone call, where they begin and end...and why?
With open ears and hearts it's my hope that those suffering from MDD can understand the strength in their journey. It takes strength to confront the unknown. I implore you to let curiosity guide you to answering when your mind, body or soul gives you a ring. *ring, ring!*
