#sims 4 #the sims community #simblr #ts4 #sims 4 edit #mysims #drawing/editing these tears took actual years off my life #editing this in general did but the tears were my hell #her name is norma jean named after her grandmother but she goes by either jeanie or jj #she works at the local convenience store and bartends at night when shes able to pick up shifts #shes the worst bartender in existence and refuses to lift anything over 2 pounds #she once convinced a customer to buy her a sweater because she looked a little cold while working #she lied and said her manager never lets them turn on the heat and casually mentioned pennys was selling her favorite sweater #and then described in detail exactly where the sweater was in the store #all she had to do was blink her big brown eyes and call them baby a few times and they immediately folded #she goes to church 7 days a week even though she hates it because that's what she did when her mom was still alive #and its one of the few things that helps her feel close to her mom #her mom died after she had to drop out of highschool to take care of her #she holds a lot of resentment for having to give up such a big part of her life #but at the same time blames herself for not being able to make her mom better #she doesnt believe in banks and hides money around her house to store it but she's also super forgetful #she'll randomly find money around the house and then treat herself like it was present she meant to leave for her future self #she loves crosswords but treats it like a fun game and refuses to check if her answers are ever right #there's ur fun little facts about jeanie 🫵🏼

maybe this isnt true in the city but at least here it seems like skateboarding/longboarding is NOT a big thing

#we have a skate park really close by but ive only ever seen like. one guy on a skateboard there #its all scooters... and then the bmx bikes on the track next to it #no but greater sydney area generally theres like. idk one chain that only really does skateboard (no longboard)#maybe cruiser idk. and then like 3 independent shops #and this is a big area this isnt like cbd. even worse for rollerskates so ive heard lmao #huh. just had a look at our local chain and it turns out they Do sell a couple of longboards #but theyre advertised as cruisers..../???#like. theyre definitely not lmao but #they still dont do longboard wheels tho which is the pertinent part for me rip #ONE set on the site. and u cant get them in shop anywhere its online only #at which point there are other shops lmao..#oh i wasnt counting city beach but maybe i should have LMAO theyre at least carrying globe #well. on second thought their better brands dont seem to be available anywhere in store. so

Ive been saving a ton of tumblr posts recently & it finally occurred to me to wonder why & i just had this strong feeling of "what if this disappears or something hapoens and i can never access it again" and oh man am i possessed with terror every time i think about losing one more damn thing and also so resigned to the inevitability of it, like the reality is every friend you ever make is someone you will either lose touch with, or one of you will live through the others death, and thats just true of every person you love for your entire life, and i cant stop thinkibg about everything you love is something you are going to lose eventually, no matter how important it is, and im maybe wondering if hurricane helene had a bigger impact on my psyche than i realized

#bc now i know for a fact that its not just people or hobbies or toys or tools or gifts or health #you can lose buildings you cared about #landmarks and roads and entire neighborhoods #nothing is going to last forever #your favorite restaurant will close and ypur favorite store will close and your hometown will change #and that family recipe is made of ingredients that were discontinued or have had their recipes altered #and there will come a time after which you will never taste your favorite childhood dish again #every person you meet is someone you will someday say goodbye to for the last time #that book you love is out of print #that sculpture was removed and that building was renovated and the street name was changed #and it will all keep changing forever #and culture will keep shifting and people will keep changing #im desperately longing for something that will last for as long as i need it to #but even mountains and monuments and countries can be destroyed in less tham time than youd think #forests older than your grandparents destroyed by one natural disaster #lakes and ponds and creeks that have brightened homes & lives for generations carved right out of the landscape #every person is one unlucky day away from losing the thing they love most #a lifes work can be erased by one accident #a city can be destroyed by one careless decision #its all just so precarious #and yet we have to keep living #my post #whystuck

middle TN is prepping for 4-8" of snow tomorrow and i am enjoying my first Winter Weather Event as a lifelong northerner

#yes it should be big news when your city has as many plows as they do major interstates #and yes schools should be closed if you cannot safely travel to school #but the store shelves being empty and panic-buying generators is so entertaining to me #it's going to be like 40 on sunday. and above freezing most of next week #talk to me when ice keeps me from leaving my driveway #also someone at work called it a 'polar vortex' ...... it's gonna be like 29º #the last polar vortex i remember it was -29ºF before the wind chill (then -52ºF)#29ºF is downright balmy in january lol #anyhoo until then i'm gonna eat soup and enjoy the show

A bit of a stranger post, but: Has anyone learnt that ears in general just...aren't even really noticed? Besides earrings, ears just wind up being hidden to the average person's awareness.

I haven't exactly met enough people to really know the truth behind it, but from the few people I have known beyond meeting them? It's something they just don't genuinely think about unless prompted about (and that includes anything around them, excluding earrings).

No wonder people don't know anything about deafness.

#hear here #actually deaf #deafness #hearing aids #Seriously.. a close friend of mine warned about his mother maybe mentioning my having hearing aids (and they have bright orange ear molds)#But just...nothing. Even with a “deafness” book in her store.. just... nothing that spoke of her even noticing #And that's nothing of people I've met just saying (and seemingly seeing!) nothing #Humans are weird*#*Then again.. life is weird in general.. let alone a brain's capacity to think

may or may not have voiced my. strong. disagreement about the store policy of "absolutely no earbuds during ur shift no matter what" with the general manager. may or may not have said that if he insists on taking such a hardline stance on the matter i would escalate it as a disability accommodation thing. help. 💀

#every day things get easier and things feel a little bit better than the day before #I feel like i'm thru the worst of it thankfully. over the biggest hurdle of 'feeling bad and sad and everything reminding me of him'#which is good!#i was prepared for the sadness and disappointment that came with the heartbreak #it also came with a general feeling of... oddness? feeling very off kilter?#it's like when you get used to a certain food at a store you grocery shop and it's just one of your staples #and one day you show up and find out it's been discontinued. it's not like you won't find something else.#but there's just kind of that absence and a familiarity you're missing?#many many thoughts lately about things.#a lot changes when you no longer have that 'person who you always wanna tell all the little things'#there's just a certain kind of closeness that i let a partner have with me. and it leaves a bit of a gap behind when it's gone.#it's like one of those tidal caves that's only open under certain right conditions.#everythings gotta line up just right for that to be explored. and now i'm just waiting for the tide to finish coming back in to cover it up #til everything is just right again to try and explore that with somebody.#hoping somebody someday just. wants a very passionate and committed guy who really likes gasmasks rocks roadtrips and being outside #im an imperfect simple man who loves and cares very deeply. i got learning n growing to do but that part will never change #personal stuff

#i recently walked into like some sort of dollar store or 99 cent store or what have you #cause they had a hiring sign up and i was curious #and the district manager was there so i talked to her.#they were looking for a general manager who would have open availability+ weekends+ closings or openings+ holidays they would have to work #and i was like wow thats a lot of responsibility and hours worked how much does it pay #and she deadass looked me in the eyes and said 12 an hour. when i tell you i laughed at her #no wonder u cant get any employees if thats what ur offering for a management postition #for the record hiring rate at mcdonalds where i live is about 13 an hour for crew #so like girl. no

Thank you @duckingwriting for the tag! I haven't talked about Isabel too much so far so here we go.

1 - Are you named after anyone? Sort of. My deadname was my great-grandfather's name, but we don't talk about that. I first noticed the name Isabel when I was watching figure skating, but I didn't intentionally name myself after a figure skater, so I don't know if that counts.

2 - When was the last time you cried? A couple weeks ago Spinder invited us all to see this romance movie that was cheesy as hell but the climax got to me anyway.

3 - Do you have any kids? I'm decent with kids, but I can't seriously imagine having my own.

4 - Do you use sarcasm? If you don't use enough sarcasm, they revoke your bitch card, and I'm depending on that gender euphoria.

5 - What's the first thing you notice about people? Their hair. I've been shopping around for a new weird hairstyle, because it's been too long since I did anything really interesting with my hair. So far, no dice.

6 - What is your eye color? Brown.

7 - Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings, but only if they make sense.

8 - Any special talents? I think being good at packing cargo counts. I'm out of practice now, but I used to be decent at trick skating. And I guess playing music and singing at the same time is a skill. My other talents are, hm…age restricted.

9 - Where were you born? Gevorad system. I could be more specific but that's all most people want to know.

10 - What are your hobbies? Music has always been the biggest one. I've been playing piano since I was seven, and I got into guitar later—not to impress boys per se but hey, it worked, so I'm not complaining. Theater also used to be a big one, but not so much now. I still read comics a lot though. Anywhere with good food and live music I will make my hobby. And when I'm planetside I like taking weird routes to stuff to see what I see, if that counts as a hobby.

11 - Do you have any pets? Nah, but my mom has a dog I visit sometimes.

12 - What sports do you or have you played? I've played plenty of sports, but the best is inline hockey. Roller derby's a close second, though. I play with one of the Potswick hockey teams when I'm planetside.

13 - How tall are you? 5' 9". I used to be kind of down about it until I realized I look devastating in heels and honestly that's what I really want.

14 - Favorite subject in school? Hm. [gets a faraway look for a long moment] History. Though it was kind of a wild experience moving from Gevorad to Antarac in high school because I knew the locality history but all the stuff the Ailna kids thought was obvious, I was like, they did what? who? And some of the stuff they "knew" was just groundgrazer bullshit. But at least most of it was funny and didn't escalate into fistfighting.

15 - Dream job? You'd laugh at me if I told you how badly I wanted to be a starlet. I did some theatrical acting, I did some movie auditions, but it really wasn't as glamorous as I thought it would be. And I had a hard time with directors not sharing my vision. Not even because I wanted to be the center of attention. I just didn't want the person whose job it was to tell me what to do to actually tell me what to do. In the end music captured me more anyway, and I think with more realistic expectations that'll be glamorous enough. So, I don't know, local music celebrity?
