Random THoND headcanon;

When Quasimodo was a little kid, Frollo genuinely tried to be a good father. This consisted of him going to those mommy groups but in like the 1400s to learn how to actually care for a kid. He would also read Quasi stories before he went to bed, and Quasi’s favorite fairytale was the ugly duckling. Frollo pretends to not like him when he’s around other people, but in secret he’s such a caring dad. The archdeacon is the only one who knows about this.

It took Frollo like 2 weeks to learn how to make Quasimodo stop crying when he first took him in, and this was resolved by him singing a lullaby to him. Frollo would never tell anybody that he did this, but secretly continued to do this every night for most of Quasi’s life.

- he has a bit of light sensitivity and blurry vision due to a scar over his right eye. whenever he’s in battle, natalia tries to cover that side.

- he takes odd jobs to help his family earn money. usually they’re just labor jobs, but sometimes they’re other things.

- he’ll often braid his sister’s hair. it’s very calming for him.

- he has phoebus’ sense of humor

- he’s not really superstitious, but a lot of his family is, so he’ll follow them to comfort them

- while he does apprentice with varian, clopin is another mentor for him, teaching him different aspects of survival

HC: Memes that get thrown into “The Group Chat” where I’m sure there’s a few circles of friends that have them in the tighter nit circles that hang. But Valerie has gone ahead and thrown GoGo into the “The Group Chat” since she there for the whole werewolf turning and even the birth of the trips. It’s mostly a bullshitting chat where the family can be open unlike how they might post publicly. Everyone’s in it. Like everyone who bothered to hit accept. Delta, Frank, Maddy, Bastien, Clopin’s Fam, Piper, The Laveaus, Team Savanne. Elsa, Koda, Chess. All the main people who Laveau congregate. Nothing really gets said in it. Sometimes people shoot off group invites to things or jokes just shit talk. It’s not really where you go to pour your guts out in front of everyone or anything. Never been confrontational, just a shit chat where they can be themselves. GoGo’s eyes will get flooded with a scroll back of memes like this once she’s in. 

 the jesus cat was posted just before Easter by Chip and then Dale in subsequent conversation calling him coward for waiting till he was dead that would get hilarious with references to the gravestones out there in Kuzpin Island wondering if he needs one too

Bastien obvi posted the Medusa one and would have been giggling for awhile behind his phone while an entire other conversation was going on in another chat room with his stoner friends only that was all over the place with how to get away with hanging with Medusa now they understood their superpower. 

Piper would post the Mandalorian meme unable to not compare it to Pierre and Thomas where Thomas is Mando and Valerie and her are laughing it up in there. Piper may still have some unresolved issues. She getting ‘em out. Meanwhile Dale silent reads on the side wondering where he weighs in on this scale of man judging because he’s still feeling a bit rascally over this guy with a Lord moniker and prowrestler pecs that managed to stay in the circle. 

Ray would have posted the signs all excited. LOOK our camp signs are a meme. Part of our old camp lives on.

LoZ - Gopongan Depictions of Hyrule's Pantheon

I think that I hc Gopongans as portraying deities & spirits wearing beautiful & ornate masks.

Like, Mardi Gras a/o Carnevale-esque masks.

Also, they are often depicted in the midst of celebration or revelry, or otherwise deep tragedy & sorrow. Which, the more serious worshipers around Hyrule tend to look at as profane. However, doing so actually tends to cause the gods to come across as more human, resulting in Gopongans connecting with the gods more easily.

The one most well-known in Goponga is the god of masks, mystery, merchants & trade, joie indirecte, & altruistic generosity, Aubermasquem. He is often depicted joyfully giving out hand-crafted masks & performing puppetshows for children. Often depicted as either a man in a Clopin Trouillefou sort of way or as a humble mask merchant.

Joie indirecte is the Gopongan word for muditā or freudenfreude. Simply put, sympathetic or vicarious joy. The pleasure of delighting in other people's well-being or success rather than begrudging it.

It is a very Gopongan idea.

It's due to this that, though they don't necessarily worship him, the Mogmas tend to see him as an "alright sorta god." Mostly because they themselves have a very similar concept in their culture called felicidonnata. Yes, they love hunting treasure, but they tend to love sharing that treasure with others as well. Sometimes even more than the hunt or the treasure itself. While others see the entire thing as an entire process in joy. The momentary thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction & pride in finding treasure, & the giving of those treasures to others. It's all part of the experience.

While they do tend to come across as punks, they are extremely family & community oriented. And, at their cores, they are generous by nature.

As such, they tend to feel right at home in Goponga.

They also tend to possess a unique balance of cowardice & bravery.

Though, Aubermasquem is, honestly, a relatively unknown deity in most places besides Goponga.

When the two of them met, Rollo made Esme a bit uneasy for obvious reasons™️ but soon found out he’s not a bad kid.

** the second interaction she’s just “!! Oh no” bc she’s fallen for him. Just like that.

Rollo always yells at Esmerelda to stop playing her tambourine but she only plays it more and louder - and closer to him.

He always sees each and every dance she puts on but leaves before she’s done. He denies witnessing it every time if questioned.

Rollo takes care of her burns! She tries to but she’s constantly on the move and dancing, when she’s in a good mood. Esme let’s him once she sees how determined he is with helping her (and scolding her for moving so much and agitating the burns).

Esme always kisses his cheek, mostly out of the blue, because it makes Rollo flustered. He’s quite adorable. Same way with her taking his hands, or wrapping him in her scarf.

Rollo gets on her about homework. She “forgets”, he gets annoyed. They sit together. He’s basically her tutor (when he manages to get her to sit still).

she jokingly tells him she’s going to bring Rollo home with her so he can meet her dad. He panics, having heard all about Clopin. But he isn’t scared off.

whenever Esme finds herself in trouble, Rollo comes to the rescue, believe it or not.

Esme keep teasing him about an actual kiss, like kissing his cheek or the corner of his mouth but never landing. After enough Rollo initiates their first official kiss.

Happy Father’s Day!!!

- Thomas would text Zeke, Clopin and Kuzco, wishing them a happy fathers day because they were all badass dads, fuck yes. He’d send out a little prayer-sort of thing to Jetsam, wishing him one too.

- He’d even get a text from Maddy, which was kinda cool.

- Figaro went all out for their Papa G. Breakfast in bed, pajama day, giving him a plushie of her own creation (that was sewn from all sorts of different ones bought from a thriftstore to make a Frankenplush), and watching whatever he wanted on the television, even if it was Poirot or Spongebob, his current two favorites.

- Figaro would also make a visit to Cap’n Hook cause he was a dad in Funkytown too, bringing him a pirate themed food tray. They weren’t scared of No Hook. They’d call him Dad for funzies.

- Triton would get 0 from Frank of course. That wasn’t his dad. That was never going to be his dad. He was eternally fatherless. Immaculate conception, bitch.

- Iain was obviously gonna spend the whole day with his little Pete. They’d have a picnic brunch on the Ranch, they’d fly some kites, he’d take her on a bike ride through the city where she’d be sitting on a seat attached to his bike through the town to go and get some ice cream, just really soaking up the day.

- Maddy would obviously have a few things in store for Bastien, even if the baby wasn’t here yet. She’d plan a day on their private beach if he felt up to it while the sun was up, wearing a bikini to show off that bump, lots of smooches and just being grateful for the father of her child.

- Clopin would surprise his husband, the Little Llama, with a nice knife, his name etched in it, that he made, just like the weapons he’d make for Chip and Piper over time. He’d then use this very knife to cut up chocolate covered strawberries and feed them into his lover’s mouth. He didn’t need a reason to celebrate Kuzco but it felt pretty fun having one.

- Ellie would be spending the day with her dad too, watching over their favorite WWE fights and throwing popcorn at the television screen even though they knew what the outcomes were going to be. She’d feel like a little kid again and it was really fun.

Minor hc is that Clopin is the brother of/knew/loved the woman who died on the steps who'd adopted Quasi, which was why Clopin was there that night and why he tried at first to help Quasi (until he thought he endangered the Court)

Really like how you draw! The colors and the quick details. Yes, Hunchback has many great "whoa" moments of awe.

I'm so happy you do! I've never been big on rendering, more on conveying ideas, so that's very gratifying to hear!

The cathedral shots are just gorgeous. It's got some peak horse animation. In the opening number when clopin goes "a tale of a man... And a MONSTER..." AND THEN IT FADES TO BLACK like you're being swallowed by the monster's lair. And this really puts you into the mindset of the gypsies entering Paris (which is Frollo's cave in a sense).

The moment when the priest sings "see the innocent blood you have spilt" and just sounds so so sad and disappointed at what frollo could have been. And it hurts more since I'm partial to the hc from the book that frollo had trained to be a priest in childhood and that same archdeacon had watched him grow up. And he can't help but feel guilt at what frollo has become, and still can see the scared little boy with so much potential in him. Just the audio itself gets to me every time.

Also, the animation of frollo running his hand through quasis hair, and how the strands fan out in response is so satisfying.

The way frollo takes the doll out of quasis hand slowly and gently while trying to convince him LIKE A PERSON... ALSO the way quasi does facial expression and movement, asymetry is a difficult thing and they did some good good magic... I could go on!

hond time. send for a random yet completely useless headcanon i have! unless something in these confirms otherwise, they’re all based on the 2014 musical ^_^

frollo hated fire when he was younger. didn’t even like being around candles. the smoke smelled bad and the light made his head hurt and because a CERTAIN HEDONISTIC BROTHER OF HIS was always away he ended up being given candle-lighting/snuffing duties in th cathedral every day. the irony of this i imagine isn’t lost on him now.

clopin....trans. i REALIZE historical trans headcanons are a very tough line to walk but iv always imagined this. people are like “hey wasnt the festival host a woman last year?” “yeah but he just kinda started calling himself a king so we roll with it”

you know that reddit post that’s like, “whenever my co-worker takes a bite of a sandwich i quickly make a sandwich and replace his with it just to confuse him” or whatever? quasi does that to phoebus. jehan also does that to frollo

every feast of fools clopin makes a game out of how many things he can hit frollo with before he’s allowed to take legal action. the crowd never does anything and just finds it funny because they assume frollo is in on the act. (he’s not)

Soft Headcanons for Quasimodo and Rapunzel!

what they smell like

-Quasimodo smells mostly like Notre Dame; stone, dust, cantles, etc. He also smells faintly of wood varnish, cedar wood, and chestnut, from all his work carving. 

-Rapunzel smells like lavender, paint, and hazelnut. She’s not too fond of eating hazelnuts, but after nearly 18 years of hazelnut soup, the smell never really comes off her. 

what their favorite smells in the world are

-Quasimodo loves all kinds of smells. After spending nearly all of his life in Notre Dame, many things are new and exciting for him, especially morning markets. Filled with people, sights, sounds, and smells. He especially loves passing by bakeries, filled with fresh bread and pastries. His favorite smell though, ironically, is the early morning fresh air that breeze through the belltowers. It’s especially refreshing after a rainstorm or after finishing his before-dawn chores. 

-Rapunzel has always loved the smell of home-cooked meals, but nothing quite beats the moments she’s caught Eugene cooking breakfast. They smell especially wonderful when he surprises her with breakfast in bed. 

what pajamas they wear/what they wear to sleep in

-Quasimodo doesn’t have many worldly possessions, both because of his faith and because Frollo just�� failed to provided above the bare minimum of care, so he’ll either just sleep in his green tunic from the day before (sans the belt, tights, and shoes, or… he’ll sleep in the buff. He might still be self conscious about how he looks, but at night there’s no one around to see his disfigured form, so it’s not so bad. 

-Rapunzel has a wide variety of nightgowns to choose from now that she’s a princess, but more often then not, she prefers to steal one of Eugene’s tunics and sleep in that instead.

-Quasimodo and Rapunzel because this kind of applies to both of them lol: I actually like quite a few ships with Quasi! It’s hard to pic a fav. I like QuasixEsmerelda, QuasixPeobus, QuasixRapunzel, QuasixEugene, QuasixClopin, QuasixEsmereldaxPhoebus, and QuasixRapunzelxEugene. I just general love imagining Quasi getting a lot of love ;u; Soooo here’s some headcanons for all of them!

-Quasi/Esmerelda: Esmerelda likes to accompany Quasi through the morning markets or festivals, and always encourages him to go without his hood over his face. It takes a few tries to get him to show his face, but in the end Esme wins out. She always rewards his courage with a kiss on the cheek. 

-Quasi/Phoebus: Phoebus likes to bring Quasimodo out drinking with him and watching the fun enfold, not because he likes Quasimodo get drunk, but because he likes watching the hunchback out-drink other poor haughty sods. Since Quasi grew up around communal wine, he can basically hold his own for ten rounds before feeling it, something most other stubborn fools don’t expect from the quiet little guy. 

-Quasi/Rapunzel: They’ll spend hours together, working on personal craft projects, quietly focused. Rapunzel is a lot more fidgetty and openly affectionate than Quasi allows himself to be, while Quasi will usually stay in one seated position for hours on end, and he’ll get so distracted with his models or mobiles that he won’t notice Rapunzel’s been painting little murals on his arms until she starts giggling. 

-Quasi/Eugene: When Quasi made a wooden figurine of Eugene and Rapunzel, Eugene was completedly and utterly shocked that Quasi actually got his nose right. (Quasi later admitted that it took him several tries, as he kept accidentally chipping the nose off.)

-Quasi/Clopin: Clopin likes roping Quasimodo into his various schemes, especially if they involve his routine street puppet shows. Since Quasi is good friends with one of his regular customers (the little girl in the purple dress, who I’ve named Agnes), he’ll have Quasi sit in the crowd with the children all piled around him like he’s a big stuffed animal. The longer Quasi sits there, the more children sit with him, the bigger Clopin’s audience becomes. But Quasi doesn’t mind. He likes the attention, and is very gentle when having dozens of children hang off of him. 

-Quasi/Esmerelda/Phoebus: Whenever the three of them sit or lie together, Esmerelda and Phoebus always insist that Quasi sit in the middle. Because he’s so short, it’s the only way they can all be sort of leaning on each other/touching each other. Quasi tends to fall asleep when embraced between the two of them, since he’s so used to just going months on end without physical contact, he just gets so relaxed. 

-Quasi/Rapunzel/Eugene: The three of them (well, mostly Rapunzel and Qausimodo) enjoy jumping and sliding down the cathedral together, but since Eugene has no monumental strength or magica hair to speak of, he’s often left clinging to Quasimodo for dear life while the trio parkour their way from column to tower to buttress.

-Quasi has to sleep on his front of left sit to keep from hurting his spine too much. He doesn’t move a lot in his sleep , but can be woken up very easily because he doesn’t sleep very soundly/has a very hard time staying relaxed.

-Rapunzel will sleep in pretty much any position. She also tends to move, kick, roll, and steal the sheets while she sleeps, and it takes a very loud alarm to wake her up if she has to be awake before dawn. 

their favorite drink

-Quasi prefers wine, but won’t turn his nose up to mead or beer. He also really loves hot cocoa. The first time he ever tried hot chocolate, he cried and tried his best not to chug it so he could savor it. 

-Rapunzel loves pretty much anything she tries and is very open to trying new things. She loves tropical fruit and oranges especially, but if she lived in the era when mint julips and mimosas were a thing, those would be her favorites.

a gift i would give them if i could

-Quasi: my undying love and like… a million hugs. Or just one long, reeeeeeally tight hug. And also probably a trip to Disneyworld. Just to see how he’d react. 

-Rapunzel: IDK man what do you get a princess who now literally has it all??? The power to eradicate hazelnuts everywhere, maybe.

HC: Vision of Piper's more tuned abilities sensing more to attic than there appears. Kuzco and Clopin always intended to take her through it and did some extent. Theme Song Guy's gifts and what Kuzco inherited long ago. But, maybe the Pachacuti Estate had a some last secrets still to be revealed and it would take his daughter a generation later to find them. Piper still the only one who refused to give up the forbidden forest or call Pierre an idiot for going there. She loved the place to the last day she ever went there. Still thanked the fire in her veins for the tree she felt call to her and always felt it her destiny somehow. He lead her there. So she always thought that meant something, but maybe that was his only part to play. She still thought of him when she felt the warmth in her hands guiding her. Sometimes it was the devil puppet, sometimes the tree's eternal fire, sometimes, her own inner voice, her intuition, and sometimes she'd even wonder if it was Pierre from beyond, but as she'd find passage to a secret room today she wondered if it was her grandmother her very self. Kuzco's mother. Her insignia was on a box she'd find hidden within the recesses of the hidden place. She isn't quite sure what she's found, but she can feel it's powerful and it's pull was strong. She felt lead there.

Step 2 Revenge.

Damned if she stayed. Damned if she didn’t.

That’s how Summer felt, especially when the parents were out of the house and who knew when they were going to be back. She could be clueless when it came to people’s thoughts, but not so much anymore. She’d gotten to know this family. She loved them, each and every single last one of them. River, that much was obvious, he had been her rock, her protector, her savior. Dale, though he could be grumpy most of the time, he had a generous heart sharing his room with her, and she tried to repay the favor as much as she could with gifts of snacks that she’d get when she’d go into town. Turns out she inherited her father’s love of driving. Chip, the one that made her realize during one of their few conversations that she had to fight to be worth all of the sacrifices that this family had made for her. And she really did try. She was fighting all of the time. And Scout, that girl was a full sister to her, she’d do anything for that girl.

But with the break up with River? Yeah, she felt like they didn’t want to get close to her at all. So it was to another that she found companionship with. The older man with the dark golden curls at the back of his neck and the whiskey-colored eyes. Not only did she find a papa in him, but a conspirator. And oh, on this day, they had a plan, and walked out of the house together, a bag full of apples and spray paint, got into Thomas’s inconspicuous vehicle and went into town.

They’d be coming back with the giggles, but would say nothing, no matter how many times that they were questioned.

It would be all over Social Media before the news would get it, as such things typically were in today's days. Reddit and Instagram was a better source of news than anything on the telly.

Oogie Boogie had been meant to perform a small show. Her reputation had been being damaged since the Sherwood Massacre, and she wanted to give a concert in good faith. But before the doors of the venue had been opened, while the line was long outside, a horse came a trotting all by itself down the street, stopping traffic, cars a-beeping. But it wasn’t the horse itself that had been the main source of the attention. Such things happened around here, with all of the carriages, sometimes a horse got loose.

But what was the source of all of the laughter, the pointing, the gasping, the picture taking, was the fact that there was a very large naked man sitting backwards atop of the horse’s saddle.
