I am tired of this "Aqua doesn't love Akane" quote.

Ah yes the classic quote I see everywhere, everyday and everytime and again "If I had a dim for every Aquakana shippers saying Aqua doesn't love Akane I'd BE RICH 🤣✨🥳" These are the main reasons why they think Aqua doesn't love Akane

Because let's be real after this chapter was published all the toxic Aquakana shippers began saying "HE DOESN'T LOVE AKANE". Don't sugarcoat it and say it not true cause it is. U>U But anyway, I am trying to break it down to you. Basically, I say He does.

I have many reasons why I think saying Aqua doesn't love Akane is a lie but let's start with the obvious "He was just using her" This is the BIGGEST LIE I HEARD ALL YEAR EVEN AQUA LIED ABOUT IT!! Yes He intended to use it at the beginning for his revenge but the man wanted to quit revenge in Chapter 71 and then later he started to date Akane for real in Chapter 77 he definitely wasn't just using her but Akane described it best for me.

If he didn't love her why was he so concerned about her safety? Last time I checked the person he was willing to avoid for safety reasons is Kana. So let's travel back in time will we all the back to season 1 he was saved Akane's life and after that he had the idea save Akane's reputation with clips of Love Now showing how they view Akane and he had a smile. And I am gonna go even further and say this, if he doesn't care about Akane then why her being safe and saving her reputation was apart of Aqua's happy moments in season 2

and Later in the chapter Aqua said basically said this

if this isn't love then sir I don't know WHAT IS THEN! To prove my point even more Aqua said this. "Now I don't have to worry about putting Akane in danger or getting her hands dirty" meaning he did this to protect and not because he didn't love her. Which means he putting Akane on the same level as Kana. Pushing her away because he cares about her or should I say because he loves her. Also side note if Aqua don't care about Akane then why did he comforted during season 2? "The anime didn't have to go that hard, but they deliberately set up this parallel. It isn't only that Akane and Aqua are dressed as Saya and Touki, they are behaving the part, too. Aqua is there to reassure her that she did nothing wrong, and to have her back so she can have the result she wishes for. Just like Touki with Saya." By @skania Now there more to this, know that he cares about her but is he happy with her. Now, the answer is still FUCKING YES. Let me explain.

We know that the thought of Akane's being safe and her reputation being saved is enough to make him happy right which means he cares about her but what about Akane herself? Well season 2 practically answered that for us. Because when we saw Aqua's happy moments we saw Aqua's first date with Akane being there which means Akane makes him happy. Not just Kana but also Akane makes him happy and that important because if Akane makes him happy that shows how much Akane means to him.

Basically if I am correct which I am U_U, Akane's safety and Akane herself equal this face. And that not hard to believe because when Yuki and Mem cho was teasing about which Akane he likes this was his expression. So it really not hard to assume he was like this because of Akane because like I said before Akane's safety and Akane herself makes him happy as seen in season 2.

Now let expand more into season 2 because let focus on this scene more especially him coming to comfort Akane cause she feel bad about making Kana hide, Aqua comes and tell her that it isn't her fault and Kana doesn't know herself as well as she might think like I said before why Aqua do this if he don't care about her whatsoever. But more importantly when Akane said "You know I don't know want to win that way" he smirked say "In that case we'll drag him into the spotlight together." Why would he smile at Akane like that if he wasn't happy with her or at least liking her determination.

Also another thing

WHY WOULD HE SMILE AT AKANE DURING THE INTRO IF HE WASN'T HAPPY WITH HER!! And Aqua said something after he broke up with Akane which prove he was happy with her. Aqua saying "Those happy days are over." Happy days meaning his days of dating Akane which means he was happy dating Akane and those days meant something to him, and I think it even stretches to the Toyko Blade Play Arc and Private Arc.

So when he said, "I took a wrong turn." I don't think he meant in the way you guys thinking like he regretted dating Akane if anything he suggested he shouldn't have quit revenge, but not because he regretted dating Akane. Also in chapter 143, he said "I've lied to too many people, I've hurt many people with my selfish requests, how can I smile now?" Noticed that one of the people there was Akane. He probably regretted hurting her. Probably regretted lying to her as well.

That is true, all of this is true instead of finding initial he end up opening up to Akane.

Another thing the hug he definitely fell in love with her or at least affect by the hug because again "Remember when Aqua was wondering what to do with Akane before he made the decision to use her one more time he was thinking about the hug aka thinking about his feelings for Akane and wanting to date her for real but then he thought no it's better to break up with her then to hold her back ." "not only that but Aqua did decide to use Akane one last time but that decision wasn't made till he was wondering what he would do with Akane since he didn't want revenge anymore and IMMEDIATELY he thought to the hug with Akane proving that he has feelings for her and he wants to date her and Aqua already says Akane got close to him and accepted him and he wants to be with her and by her side." If Aqua didn't love Akane or at least like Akane why did the hug appeared when he was thinking what he should with Akane after revenge? He was obviously thinking of dating her or least his feelings for her till he knocked down the thought. And Aqua himself did say maybe it okay for him to be in love and again speaking about his feelings for Akane and maybe it okay to date her. Considering the fact that hug did appeared in his mind when thinking about what do with Akane I absolutely think "But I thought it was okay now, so I'll think about it carefully even though it's little too late." THIS LINE IS ABOUT AKANE.

I always talked about Aqua's words to Akane and how he meant every word of it in my Why I love Aquakane post Part 1 and Part 2 but instead I am talk about Akane's words and the affect on Aqua to show Aqua likes Akane. Like example when Akane say "I'll help you kill them" Aqua's black star eye turned white.

When Akane hugged him saying "No matter what happens, i’m on your side, Aqua-kun. " Aqua reaction was this .

When Akane said this and said "Why do you need to bear responsibility for it? That's just wrong!" . He had a shocked expression.

And lastly for my last point why Aqua seemly have the same expression that he had during the hug when Akane said these words, when she experssed her opinions about Aqua.

If he didn't love Akane these words or actions won't affect him but they do. So clearly, he does love Akane since she clearly has an effect on him that not even Kana has.

And as you can see He cares about Akane, make her happy, she makes him happy and much more so if compared to Kana then he definitely does love Akane probably more than Kana.

I am not trying to say he doesn't like Kana I am saying he loves Akane just as much probably even more.

But anyway, that ends.

Also Bonus in episode 10 of Season 2 of Oshi No Ko not only we get to see Akane's text messages to Aqua showing how much she cares for him BUT WHEN AQUA WAS THINKING MAYBE IT OKAY FOR HIM TO BE FREE AND LIVE HAPPILY AKANE FREAKING APPERED! Showing that Akane does make him happy.

How DOES the C preprocessor create two generations of completely asinine programmers??

oh man hahah oh maaan. ok, this won't be very approachable.

i don't recall what point i was trying to make with the whole "two generations" part but ill take this opportunity to justifiably hate on the preprocessor, holy fuck the amount of damage it has caused on software is immeasurable, if you ever thought computer programmers were smart people on principle...

the cpp:

there are like forty preprocessor directives, and they all inject a truly mind-boggling amount of vicious design problems and have done so for longer than ive been alive. there really only ever needed to be one: #include , if only to save you the trouble of manually having to copy header files in full & paste them at the top of your code. and christ almighty, we couldn't even get that right. C (c89) has way, waaaay fewer keywords than any other language. theres like 30, and half of those aren't ever used, have no meaning or impact in the 21st century (shit like "register" and "auto"). and C programmers still fail to understand all of them properly, specifically "static" (used in a global context) which marks some symbol as inelligible to be touched externally (e.g. you can't use "extern" to access it). the whole fucking point of static is to make #include'd headers rational, to have a clear seperation between external, intended-to-be-accessed API symbols, and internal, opaque shit. nobody bothers. it's all there, out in the open, if you #include something, you get all of it, and brother, this is only the beginning, you also get all of its preprocessor garbage.

this is where the hell begins:

#if #else

hey, do these look familiar? we already fucking have if/else. do you know what is hard to understand? perfectly minimally written if/else logic, in long functions. do you know what is nearly impossible to understand? poorly written if/else rats nests (which is what you find 99% of the time). do you know what is completely impossible to understand? that same poorly-written procedural if/else rat's nest code that itself is is subject to another higher-order if/else logic.

it's important to remember that the cpp is a glorified search/replace. in all it's terrifying glory it fucking looks to be turing complete, hell, im sure the C++ preprocessor is turing complete, the irony of this shouldn't be lost on you. if you have some long if/else logic you're trying to understand, that itself is is subject to cpp #if/#else, the logical step would be to run the cpp and get the output pure C and work from there, do you know how to do that? you open the gcc or llvm/clang man page, and your tty session's mem usage quadruples. great job idiot. trying figuring out how to do that in the following eight thousand pages. and even if you do, you're going to be running the #includes, and your output "pure C" file (bereft of cpp logic) is going to be like 40k lines. lol.

the worst is yet to come:

#define #ifdef #ifndef (<- WTF) #undef you can define shit. you can define "anything". you can pick a name, whatever, and you can "define it". full stop. "#define foo". or, you can give it a value: "#define foo 1". and of course, you can define it as a function: "#define foo(x) return x". wow. xzibit would be proud. you dog, we heard you wanted to kill yourself, so we put a programming language in your programming language.

the function-defines are pretty lol purely in concept. when you find them in the wild, they will always look something like this:

#define foo(x,y) \ (((x << y)) * (x))

i've seen up to seven parens in a row. why? because since cpp is, again, just a fucking find&replace, you never think about operator precedence and that leads to hilarious antipaterns like the classic

#define min(x,y) a < b ? a : b

which will just stick "a < b ? a: b" ternary statement wherever min(.. is used. just raw text replacement. it never works. you always get bitten by operator precedence.

the absolute worst is just the bare defines:

#define NO_ASN1 #define POSIX_SUPPORTED #define NO_POSIX

etc. etc. how could this be worse? first of all, what the fuck are any of these things. did they exist before? they do now. what are they defined as? probably just "1" internally, but that isn't the point, the philosophy here is the problem. back in reality, in C, you can't just do something like "x = 0;" out of nowhere, because you've never declared x. you've never given it a type. similar, you can't read its value, you'll get a similar compiler error. but cpp macros just suddenly exist, until they suddenly don't. ifdef? ifndef? (if not defined). no matter what, every permutation of these will have a "valid answer" and will run without problem. let me demonstrate how this fucks things up.

do you remember "heartbleed" ? the "big" openssl vulnerability ? probably about a decade ago now. i'm choosing this one specifically, since, for some reason, it was the first in an annoying trend for vulns to be given catchy nicknames, slick websites, logos, cable news coverage, etc. even though it was only a moderate vulnerability in the grand scheme of things...

(holy shit, libssl has had huge numbers of remote root vulns in the past, which is way fucking worse, heartbleed only gave you a random sampling of a tiny bit of internal memory, only after heavy ticking -- and nowadays, god, some of the chinese bluetooth shit would make your eyeballs explode if you saw it; a popular bt RF PHY chip can be hijacked and somehow made to rewrite some uefi ROMs and even, i think, the microcode on some intel chips)

anyways, heartbleed, yeah, so it's a great example since you could blame it two-fold on the cpp. it involved a generic bounds-checking failure, buf underflow, standard shit, but that wasn't due to carelessness (don't get me wrong, libssl is some of the worst code in existence) but because the flawed cpp logic resulted in code that:

A.) was de-facto worthless in definition B.) a combination of code supporting ancient crap. i'm older than most of you, and heartbleed happened early in my undergrad. the related legacy support code in question hadn't been relevant since clinton was in office.

to summarize, it had to do with DTLS heartbeats. DTLS involves handling TLS (or SSLv3, as it was then, in the 90s) only over UDP. that is how old we're talking. and this code was compiled into libssl in the early 2010s -- when TLS had been the standard for a while. TLS (unlike SSLv3 & predecessors) runs over TCP only. having "DTLS heartbeat support in TLS does not make sense by definition. it is like drawing a triangle on a piece of paper whose angles don't add up to 180.

how the fuck did that happen? the preprocessor.

why the fuck was code from last century ending up compiled in? who else but!! the fucking preprocessor. some shit like:

#ifndef TCP_SUPPORT <some crap related to UDP heartbeats> #endif ... #ifndef NO_UDP_ONLY <some TCP specific crap> #endif

the header responsible for defining these macros wasn't included, so the answer to BOTH of these "if not defined" blocks is true! because they were never defined!! do you see?

you don't have to trust my worldview on this. have you ever tried to compile some code that uses autoconf/automake as a build system? do you know what every single person i've spoken to refers to these as? autohell, for automatic hell. autohell lives and dies on cpp macros, and you can see firsthand how well that works. almost all my C code has the following compile process:

"$ make". done. Makefile length: 20 lines.

the worst i've ever deviated was having a configure script (probably 40 lines) that had to be rune before make. what about autohell? jesus, these days most autohell-cursed code does all their shit in a huge meta-wrapper bash script (autogen.sh), but short of that, if you decode the forty fucking page INSTALL doc, you end up with:

$ automake (fails, some shit like "AUTOMAKE_1.13 or higher is required) $ autoconf (fails, some shit like "AUTOMCONF_1.12 or lower is required) $ aclocal (fails, ???) $ libtoolize (doesn't fail, but screws up the tree in a way that not even a `make clean` fixes $ ???????? (pull hair out, google) $ autoreconf -i (the magic word) $ ./configure (takes eighty minutes and generates GBs of intermediaries) $ make (runs in 2 seconds)

May 12, 1897

Dear Fresh, You will have to forgive me for not writing sooner, I have been terribly distracted. Count Renrik has had many questions to ask and stories to tell, nevermind I had been enraptured by the journey i've taken and now the location I've found myself in. The landscape is truly beautiful, but I will not ramble, there is too much to describe in this letter.

I wish only to let you know that I have been well, besides a small hiccup with my illness, which has caused me to continue in coughing up blood. Do not worry, the Count has been very understanding and incredibly hospitable since the moment I arrived. Dare I say, we've drawn horribly close. He requires extra assistance and advice, I'm afraid I may stay longer than expected.

I feel like I was only saying goodbye a few minutes ago and already I'm nearing the end of my journey.

For context, [UUUUUUUUUGH] I have left on a business trip to assist one Count Renrik in purchasing property in Ebott. Tomorrow is my final train ride. Afterwards, I'll make the last stretch to the castle by carriage. Then the castle for a month, give or take a few days, then back home.

I can't help but regret letting Fresh give me his hat, I know he's so attached to it and, all in all, it hasn't helped much in hiding my bandages, or at adjusting me to the crowds.

The people at home has long gotten used to seeing me in the street, I'd almost forgotten how uncomfortable it is to be stared at. [Geno actually lives in a city, where he would definitely be getting stared at all day everyday. please pay no mind to his apparent selective blindness]

I'm hoping a smaller crowd in closer quarters will have a little more respect than on the trains and in the hotels, but this is still far off yet...

My mind is stuck to my work... I still can't believe I've managed to land such a big job so early in my career as a solicitor. I find it likely I'll mess up, say the wrong thing- or offend Renrik somehow.

Our ride into the countryside has been nothing if not scenic... and a little anxious. As of now I'm writing in the carriage. My destination is the Burgo Pass, wherein I'll transfer to another carriage closer to the castle. The rest of the passengers are going to Bukovina. It just turned evening, and if we stay on schedule I won't be near the castle til dark.

[I will bullshit some new location names later. I don't like putting my little au guys in real tangible places]

Note: Lots of skeletons, fire sprites, and furryfolk up here. The kind who can stand the cold. It makes me glad that I don't have any skin to feel the wind; if it's intense enough to affect the population.

While I'm here writing, and nothing of note takes place, I'll detail my stay at the Golden Crone. I'd forgotten to write before bed. (A testament to my personal distraction or the events of the night?)

Mind my conciseness. This is a recollection and I'd hate to affect the accuracy of my entry due to misremembered small details.

I arrived in the late afternoon and was welcomed in by the owner, a sweet older goat monster. She insisted I should stay a few days longer-because today (the day I write this) is Saint George's day and "all the evil in the world' is more powerful tonight- but of course, I had to refuse.

Showing up late is the worst impression I could give to such an important client. But I was touched(?) by her concern and accepted a crucifix on a chain.

I was raised to find such things -if you will- idolatrous, but her pure worry, apparent good intentions- moved me. Her insistence that I take it "For my mother's sake," was the final nail. I've decided to keep it tucked under my shirt for now.

Admittedly, it hasn't been that bad. When I put it on in the morning it was cold, and felt nice against my scar. Maybe I'll give it to Fresh? [SWAG SWAG SWAG SWAG]

But that is in months to come. Now it is the fifth, and the driver of our carriage seems- rushed. Anxious. My fellow passengers as well. They hurriedly talk to him in tongue I barely understand and he responds by pushing his horses onward.

Though he tries, they cannot gallop up some of the hills we're going over. No, they have to walk, and I've been half tempted to hop out and walk ahead of them. It would certainly make writing smoother...

Burgo Pass, Transylvania[Again, gonna bullshit some new names]

"Near two hours early."

Everyone deflated in audible relief. Besides Geno, who was slightly confused, and the driver, who remained on high alert, eyes constantly in movement on the surrounding trees.

Geno himself found his eyes drawn to the gaping hole in the thicket they stopped beside. A break in the road. And off in the distance he could now see -thanks to the small gap in the canopy- the top of a tower, way off in the distance, backdropped by the pink and purple hues of twilight.

"You're not expected for a while now," The driver addressed Geno without facing him.

"It will be a shame when they come all the way out here to find nobody around."

"Oh?"

"We have to move on."

"Well, shouldn't I get off to wait?"

Everyone made their protest known immediately.

"No, no, absolutely not." The bunny beside Geno urged him back to his seat, "But-" "Too many wolves out, too dark, and you are not expected-"

"-Don't you fear animals? Or thieves that could be on these roads?" Begrudgingly, Geno let himself be resettled in the car and heard the point of the driver, but still, "I have first impressions to make and, as you said, it will be a shame when they come here and find I have not shown-"

"-If he has any sense your host will understand," the driver insisted, "You will come with us to Bukovina and spend a night. Or two. Preferably two- and then you can return and explain your reasoni-"

He was interrupted by the clicking of hooves in the distance.

Looking down the break in the road, from around the bend, came a cart. There were no passengers but the single driver, who wore dark, heavy clothes... it was almost as though he had dressed to match his stallions, which were of equal dark and intimidating stature.

Beside him, a bunny crossed herself.

"Am fost cât de repede am putut, cum a ajuns aici?"

As the cart came upon them and stopped at their side, two passengers exchanged quick whispers in tongue he couldn't understand.

"Friends," Even now as they left the cart and approached theirs, the strange driver's heavy clothing prevented any sincere guesses on his identity, and his voice gave no clues, besides being masculine. "You're very early."

"Y-yes, yes," Was forced out by their driver and nearly lost in the breeze, "This, t-this is not an issue, correct?"

[Does Unnamed Driver seem weird here? i kinda think so but tbh, if you were literally watching death walk up to your car to knock on your windows and take your uber passenger, wouldn't you be a little freaked out too?]

"Not at all," As Geno rose for a second time to leave, for good this time, his arm was caught by the bunny woman.

Geno turned around for just a moment, long enough to make eye contact. Her mouth twitched, an aborted motion to open, a half-minded effort to say something.

She let him go, he turned around, and was immediately met with the heavily bundled stranger's hand around his, which helped him step out.

"Safe travels."

The heavy hand on his back distracted him as, with a screech of metal and the click of hooves, his temporary companions moved on.

They left with the sun, and Geno settled into the comparably run down cart as the new driver lit his lantern.

-This new drivers features were hidden behind his clothes, and I'm too opposed to staring for a proper guess. I suppose I'll never know for sure. All I know is that they were likely male, his voice was low and... wispy? (I'm not one for romantic descriptions so I'm afraid any misuse will go un-corrected.) And he didn't have any noticeable eye-lights glowing beneath his hat.

Probably human. His horses were particularly jumpy, and it would definitely be harder for someone magically charged to handle such anxious creatures.

He offered me a blanket and pointed out some whiskey under the seat, otherwise, they nary spoke a word until we arrived. He helped me out again, told me to wait, and disappeared.

Anyway my current top 10 book suggestions for early book presents to the parents of under 2s, particularly if most of the gifts will be coming from people unfamiliar with babies or people over 50:

 (I have suffered through so many baby showers with ‘buy us a library’ gift requests with terrible terrible picturebooks chosen by well meaning older relatives who chose something randomly from Kmart or something they loved from 1980, or from people who have not interacted with a child under 5 in the last 30 years. Save your friends. Buy books they can stand to read more than twice) 

All of these suggestions are board books, just buy board books for this demographic, they want to help turn pages.

A Black & White book in your newborn gift. There’s a whole bunch of these, just pick something with illustrations you like. Early focus books for tiny babies, they are obsessed with this stuff for the first few months.

A Mem Fox (hi yes I’m Australian did you know). My personal picks of the bunch for tinies are Where is the Green Sheep or Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes, but honestly any of them, Mem Fox understands exactly how to write the sort of repeatable poetry that turns storytime into a song and doesn’t make you want to tear your hair out. Grandparents will remember so often aim for more recent books.

A Sandra Boynton. Again, a master of repeatable poetry. I love But Not the Armadillo best, but you’re often better going with a newer title just because the grandparents and great aunts of this baby will remember Boynton and pick out something. If the new parent is your sibling, something like Doggies is a masterstroke of a gift as it will intensely irritate the parent who reads it while the kid is enraptured.

I Need a Hug by Aaron Blabey. Yes, the Pig the Pug guy but honestly this story is better. Blabey isn’t quite the poet of the two above but he writes good content you’ll enjoy rereading.

I Want My Hat Back, by Jon Klassen. There’s a couple more in this series too. The art is dreamy and it has good “spot the thing” storytelling possibilities.

A Hervé Tullet activity book. Mix it Up, Press Here, Tap! Tap! Tap!, there’s more of them. Great for the 18+ month crowd as the child gets to interact with the book and learn about movement and art techniques.

A local A-Z book. There are 50 million of these, go choose something with pictures you like. I strongly recommend getting something focused on local native animals or local places to the parent, if you can, especially if you’re not American-based. (If you are American-based, I suggest searching out something from a specific international location or something tied to a local region just for some VARIETY in the art style or animals you are looking at. I promise you, it’s possible to find stuff that doesn’t just use the canonical “W for Whale, X for X-ray Fish, Y for Yak” sort of international approach to the end of the alphabet). I’ve seen lots done in native art styles too which is always a worthwhile pick.

Some sort of flap book. Small children love themselves a flap book. Spot books are classic, but there’s millions of the things, flip through a few until you find one with illustrations that you like and where the story doesn’t seem infuriating (the last one I gave someone was There’s an Owl in my Towel which had cute rhymes)

A Wombat book (Australian! Did I mention!) This is just me mashing two authors together but Susannah Chambers has two charming books about wombats (Snow Wombat and Beach Wombat) and I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Jackie French’s Diary of a Wombat series. Both authors can write, they’re scenic stories, as an adult reading them you’ll be entertained.

A bath book. Go find something waterproof for bathtimes that has nice illustrations. Some of them change colour when you dip them in the water. Extremely useful for entertaining small humans in the bath.

There is NO WAY I could get this to be a Real Considered Ship, but at least I think Genshintwt hates Emilie and demonizes her enough (all bc she doesnt look like her early concepts...) that I could post about it and not have people whine about being "unfair" to Emilie bc Dottore is terribly evil.
