First of all, solid title.

Secondly, im back (sort of). Lets get into it!

I LOVE this episode. I love the insight into who gus and shawn were as teenagers, i love how gus and shawn are both stuck in the past in different ways, and i love Abigail Lytar!

From the first moment we meet her, we know that she gets Shawn. She not only clocks his judd nelson pic, she also plays along with the joke and makes another obscure reference.

Abigail is the best love triangle addition in the history of television and i will die on that hill! They made her a genuine “competitor” to juliet by writing her as someone almost catered to shawns personality.

Normally with love triangles, they write the “competition” as less compelling of a choice to really emphasize how the mains are end goal OR they’ll make the decision split the center characters personalities, so like one choice will be the girl next door and represents the past version of them and the other is more career focused and represents the future (think sweet home alabama, uh, 13 going on 30, romcoms in general, you get it) And to a degree, thats sort of what this is with abigail and juliet, except it doesn’t split them in a way that is determined by shawn. Like, who shawn chooses doesn’t impact who he’ll be. The choice isnt a lesson or a determination of his character, if that makes sense. Plus, theres no caveat to Abigail. Like, she’d be perfect for him if it wasn’t for ___. None of that. Abigail and Shawn could have worked (ill go into it more in season 4 when they finally do get together).

Sidenote: i think her dynamic with both shawn and gus was really cute (which is another win in the abigail is a great love triangle addition column)

So apparently Shawns recall is so good he can do an instant replay. Idk if i should add that to his list of skills or just lump that into his existing memory power. I also love though, that its a blurry image because thats how Shawn saw it and they didn’t try to make him super human and see it in high definition.

Ravi shinkar is a heck of a reference to make and an even crazier one for lassie to have seen and shawn to understand haha

There was a joke made by Gus that Shawn didn’t know anything about their senior class or what happened senior year or the school, but I’d like to point out that his parents were on the brink of a divorce and then did divorce his senior year so im guessing he was pretty distracted. This is kind of random, but im wondering when Shawn decided he wasn’t going to be a cop like his dad. Like what was his tipping point. I always thought it was after his mom left because she said when she left she thought he would be okay, which to me meant that he had his path set. Now, because of how he didnt seem to care for school at all and was already off doing his own adventures (becoming part of the janitors society to get keys presumably for some reason) he was already aimless. Maddie was either delusional or Shawn lied to her? Idk im over thinking this silly cop show.

Now, the box of cop cars is not unexpected. We know who henry is. But this little bit actually tells us that Maddie never bought him other cars?? If I’m Maddie, and my husband is training my kid to become something i must have noticed he didn’t want to be because I’m a psychologist, I’m going to say something! Idk, maybe part of the reason they divorced was because of how henry was with Shawn, but then why would she leave him behind and think he was okay? So, i guess, i don’t understand why Maddie wouldn’t have pushed back. Why wouldn’t she buy shawn other toy cars for him to play with to provide choices for him. There is the possibility that shawn never told her that henrys training made him miserable because they were already fighting and didn’t want to give them another reason. Again, over thinking.

Some smaller notes:

-low blow for Gus to straight up tell Shawn no one had any expectations for him. Like i get he’s having a quarter life crisis or whatever, but, all the same, rude.

-that prom queen was Serinda Swan who was in a show called breakout kings with our own Mary Lightly aka Jimmi Simpson :)

-my favorite thing about carlton is that he’s a good head detective and yet has absolutely the worst instincts around. Like true south all the time.

jihyo biting them is actually the most realistic thing abt this bc the amount of videos we have of her biting jeongyeon is crazy but thats just how she shows love!!

and for belly rubs i think her leg would kick out bc it feels so good and maybe she's kicked 2yeon a few times but its ok bc she is so cute. and i can see nayeon taking advantage of her being so like. blissed out from the belly rubs that she cups her face and talks in that baby voice ppl do to dogs like: "who's the best girl? you are! yes you are! you're my best girl" while jihyo just grins and purrs cause shes!! so!! happy!! and oh my god that's the cutest idea i've ever had wow

PLEASE i imagine jihyo, short ass jihyo, trying (and failing) to peek over jeongyeons shoulder and being like an annoying sibling with the "whatre you doing? what is that thing? why does it look like that?" she is jeongyeon's pain in the butt (affectionate)

jihyo who falls asleep on the couch and wakes up in nayeon's bed and doesn't question it cause it smells like nayeon and nayeon is love and safety im gonna make myself get emotional hold up

pup!hyo is my favorite, ty for always writing abt her and just doing it so well. u are so talented lumi, its just incredible

when she goes to the vet and jeongyeon drives, even if nayeon tries to make her sit safely and put on the seat belt, hyo will still go to her lap anyway with her tail between her legs bc she's afraid and anxious and she just wants nayeon 😭

now YES jihyo loves to bite jeongyeon for some reason. like is she tasty? i wanna know too! share with us!!

YES. just yes. she can't control when she kicks them, they need to understand!! and abt the voice jihyo wouldn't even understand nayeon at first,, like i see jihyo getting really confused the first time nayeon does that, she'd be like "is it me?" "am i the best girl?" bc she isn't used to receiving affection at all and it just shocks her that someone loves her like nayeon does :(

Do you have any advice for new writers 🥺 your blog is so popular and you have such talent. What would you say? What tools do you use? Teach me your ways wise master 🥺🥺🥺

The only tool I use to help write fanfic is Pro Writing Aid to help with proofreading, which I'm still not very good at. 😂

As for what I write or how I write, it's really mood based and comes from a lot of practice. I've been writing bad fanfic for over a decade. You sort of just grow and develop that way. I also read a lot, both fanfic and regular fiction (all of it smutty 😌) to help me think what is good writing or bad writing.

Also, which may be totally unhelpful, I have 95% of a creative writing degree. So I've taken a lot of classes on writing and literature and analysing what makes something good. There are loads of good books and free courses on writing, that are super helpful with developing ideas, characters, and plot. I am certainly no expert on how to do any of that so I guess take what I say next with a big pinch of salt.

1. The age old classic, write what you know. Which is also bad because advice imo because if you only write what you know, it could be a short list. So if you're writing something you don't know, research it so you at least sound like you know what you're writing about. It becomes really easy to tell if people know what they are talking about or not.

2. When you are writing dialogue exchanges have the conversations with yourself to make sure they flow right. Like read that shit out loud. You never say someone's name or pet name as often as you may write it. Do you really shake your head that often when speaking? Sometimes it helps to do those subtle actions and think, would I do this when speaking?

3. If you are writing spicy content, it's gotta make you hot. If when you are writing, reading, and proofreading and the sex isn't making you feel all those tingles it's not hot enough. When the action is really high, sometimes it's best to keep the emotions low (depending on the tone of the smut). I also find when writing smut, it's important to think about your characters base knowledge of sex, like if you are writing an innocent/naïve character, they probably aren't gonna know how to deep throat a monster dong on the first go. Also another thing that is totally my opinion, think about the language your characters would use to describe their genitals. Like I don't know any US man who uses the word prick to describe his dick. 🤷

nah when she was still on tumblr so in the beginning she posted about how she was seeing a lot of people still having gatherings etc and how she was like “please take this seriously and stay inside guys”. tbh i think - while not IDEAL like i fully agree she’s not a covid perfect queen whatsoever don’t get me wrong - she did take it really seriously the first five months or so, then gradually had a mindset change where she was like eh it’s not going away anytime soon so might as well work again but with testing and stuff to then eventually after getting vaccinated completely stopping giving fucks and going to parties and whatnot. i won’t pretend that’s like amazing behaviour or anything (she knows it too lol like if it was covid queen behaviour she’d post about it more openly) but i also won’t pretend it’s not what 95% of the people i know, both irl and online, are doing. like it doesn’t make me feel anything at all because she’s never pretended to be a super covid safe queen, she’s doing with her best with not passing it onto her immunocompromised mom, and if she gets it she’ll be fine like you say. but yeah bottom line is i don’t even feel like this is rich white millionaire behaviour she’s exhibiting lol like most, if not all, regular middle class people i know have been going to parties etc just as much. this really is just average western people behaviour tbh so i don’t really see the point in dragging her as if she’s doing anything out of the ordinary, she did what 95% of the people in western europe and the usa did so like not ideal but nbd to me and not something i’m gonna drag her for personally

This is also how I feel like 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ who cares? I just don’t like the “🥺🥺🥺 Taylor COVID safe queen” takes when we 1) have her likely bubbling with friends when it wasn’t allowed - timeline is tricky there but like seems that way 2) traveling a bunch 3) breaking the rules in order to see his mum 4) speaking of his mum lol like being unable to teach that lady to wear her mask 5) her taking off her mask for stuff from parties to that Belfast TikTok fan she met. None of this is that big a deal like I genuinely don’t care but I don’t think we should pretend like she’s perfect.

Reid’s little getting arrested in Mexico outfit means he thought a) that he needed a little  disguise for meeting dodgy doctors in hotel rooms and went out to buy the most disguiseie outfit he could think of b) because he was going to Mexico he wanted a little outfit to match and went out to buy a Mexico specific fashion statement, or c) he just dresses like that when not on the job and we were robbed for 15 years
