Cincy Con poster, drawn, inked, colored and signed by Allen Bellman, Elizabeth Breitsweiser, and Mitch Breitweiser.Ellen and Mitch Breitweiser signed Captain America Patriot issues 1-4.Guess there's always next year :)Ĭonquests: Had a great selection of items that i purchased, here's some of my favorite ones :) Comic Book Trivia, I'm sure i wouldn't have won it but i really wanted to be a part of lol.The Jim Steranko Panel: I was so tired at the time that i decided to sit that one out, i'll probably end up regretting that choice since he was the biggest advertising draw of the expo. This year's oanels were an improvement from last year's and i expect them to do the same next year. This one kinda leads into the bigger guns argument but i definitely want more panels for next year.I'd recommend bringing in a few more for next year. Maybe my memory is just off but while the number of panels and booths increased i think artist alley either decreased or stay the same.Someone like Peter David, Chris Claremont, or even John Romita Jr to really turn the attendance from great to completely off the charts. As much as i enjoyed Michael Uslan, the Breitweisers, Moore and Bellman I really hope that Cincy can bring in a couple more big guns for next year.some amazing artwork in artist's alley!.My friends by my side the whole way through :).good selection and cheap prices on the books i got ( seriously i made a killing this year lol.).one of the highlights of the expo for me. The Elizabeth and Mitch Breitweiser Booth was very cool, i had fun talking with them and seeing them at work on random commissions. The members of the panel were very nice, humorous and brought a lot of knowledge from the art end of a comic that was nice for me to learn. The Captain America Panel, consisting of Elizabeth Breitweiser, Mitch Breitweiser, Allen Bellman and Michael Uslan was extremely entertaining.like last year, Michael Uslan's story of bringing batman to the big screen was even more enjoyable the second time around. So how'd this year compare to the last one? Here's a brief summary of the good and bads/future and some of my conquests of this year's expo Please excuse the indexing-friendly title.Another year another CIncy Comic Expo, I went into this year's expo extremely excited for it, after all my first year (and the expo's mind you) was one of the key events in my life that helped to turn me onto the path of being a comic book writer. I hate it as much as you do, but I know there are literally fives of people on the Internets who may want to know this vital information for the coming weekend. I’ll be at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle this weekend.
#Cincinnati comic expo booths plus
I’m not keynoting, but I am on a couple of panels, and I will have a booth, stocked with all of my books, plus my glasses and my shoes, so I have them. I don’t have a ton of stuff, though, so you should probably drop everything you’re doing and go get in line right now. My schedule looks shockingly similar to this:Ħ-7PM: Panel – “Is Casual Killing Core Games?” in the Raven Theater. This should be an interesting conversation. I don’t think casual is killing core gaming at all, but I’m interested to hear from people who think it is, and tell them why they’re so very very wrong.ġ1:30-12:30: “The Wil Wheaton Panel!” in the Serpent Theater. I’m going to be honest: I don’t think a lot of people are going to come to this. There are two absolutely awesome panels at the same time, including Family Feud with Gabe and Tycho, and if the panel didn’t have my name in it, I would skip it, too. However, for those of you who will be in attendance, due to your sacred vow to never watch Family Feud, I’ll be reading from Happiest Days and Sunken Treasure, wand I’ll do a Q&A if there’s enough interest. We always have fun, and we float, Georgie! We all FLOAT DOWN HERE!) and it will be awesome. I reserve the right to bail on signings early if nobody’s there, and stay a little longer if that’s necessary. Please, please, please come introduce yourself if you read my blog, especially if you’re a regular commenter. It’s pretty awesome to have faces to go with the names. Wil: So, I’d really like to avoid a “By Grepthar’s Hammer! By the Sons of Morvan!” sort of moment, utterly failing my save vs geeking out at meeting you – I have a sneaking suspicion you understand this desire.

Please try and be aware of the session you have chosen and only come at the time designated for your photo op session. These times will be referenced on the photo op schedule. Session designations (I.E> Norman Reedus Saturday Session A) means this is usable during Norman’s scheduled Session A photo op time on the day you chose the ticket for. Your tickets must be used on the days and for the session designated in the ticket title. Tickets are sold on a day specific and session specific basis. Session designations do not mean each guest’s Session A will be at the same time as another guest’s Session A.ĭay Specific tickets and Session designations (Session A, Session B Etc). If you would like more than two adults in a photo, you must purchase an additional photo op ticket for every two adults. How many fans can be in one photo with one ticket?įor each ticket purchased you may have two adult fans and up to three children under 16. You will know the schedule has changes if the revision number located at the top right (I.E. If we posted a schedule early, it means it would be quite invalid by the time the event approaches.īe sure to check and recheck the photo op schedule for any changes. In most cases, the schedule is not posted any earlier than that because of continuing guest adds. The photo op schedule is posted approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the event and will be linked toward the top of this page. Remember, if you have purchased a ticket online, you have a confirmed ticket.

Make sure you have the full QR code up and ready, and not the icon on your confirmation page. If you have them on your phone, please be sure you have them up and ready when you get to the front of the line. You may print the QR code for the tickets or have them on your phone. Please check the schedule prior to making online purchases during the event to ensure you do not purchase an op that is already passed. If you would like to use a credit card, you may do so on your mobile device using the ticket purchase link located at the top of this page. If you would like to purchase any photo op tickets at the event, the sales desk is cash only. Purchasing photo op tickets at the event. Please see the section on swapping and upgrades for more information.

In this case, you will have the opportunity to upgrade your cast or grouping. In the case of guests being added to a cast or grouping and the price changing on the cast or grouping, the original listed cast or grouping may be cancelled in favor of the newly listed cast or grouping. Ticket prices are subject to change at any time, however if you have already purchased a photo op ticket for a specific guest’s solo photo and their price is increased, your ticket is still valid. This means that we will add tickets throughout the online sales process. Photo op tickets are added as guests and pricing is confirmed with agencies and event promoters. It is important you listen for prompts from the line attendants and the photographer to ensure you get the best photo possible. Please understand that a photo op is not a meet and greet, it is a rapidly moving process. If you really would like a little time to converse with a celebrity guest, we would strongly suggest you opt for a autograph as typically the autograph is a somewhat slower moving process. It is a photo opportunity in the literal sense of the word. The process is very quick without time to converse with the guest or guests. To avoid confusion, a photo op is not a meet and greet. Your photo is ready in around a minute after the photo has been taken with our “print it in a minute” technology.

We then print a high quality 8×10″ of the photo on professional dye-sublimation photo printers. The photo is taken under ideal lighting conditions and with a top of the line DSLR camera. Please be sure to read the entire page, especially if you are unfamiliar with the photo op process or if you have not had photo ops with us in the past.Ī photo op is a photo taken with you and the celebrity guest or guests you have purchased a ticket for. The information contained within this page will help you make the most of your photo op experience. Please bear in mind, the photo op schedule will not be released until approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the event.īe sure to revisit the photo op schedule often to check for changes.

Convention Review: Inconjunction
Convention: Inconjunction
Location: Indianapolis (east), Indiana
Transportation: drove
Date: July 2-4 (Fri-Sun)
Table cost: $70
Table size: 8' plus extra space on each side
Table placement: first row from entrance
Items for sale: 11x17" posters (fanart and original), tutorial artbook, coloring book, original comic (sons of fire), zines (fanart and original; sfw and nsfw), postcards (4.25x5.5", fanart and original), pins (original), resin coasters and jewelry
Mask policy: not required for vaccinated people (was CDC guidelines at the time)
Previously attended? No
Pros: inexpensive table, 8' table in a wide booth space.
Cons: Less than 100 people showed up.
Most popular item(s): n/a
Least popular item(s): n/a
I don't know if it was because of the holiday weekend or what, but I'm fairly sure there were more vendors than attendees. After two days of being incredibly bored and selling a grand total of 5 items, I checked out of the hotel early and just went home.
Even if people had shown up, this was definitely the wrong kind of convention for me, as it was more of an old-school sci-fi and fantasy convention where people were most interested in books, and the average attendee age was at least 10 years older than me.
Gross sales: ~$100
Recommend/will attend again? NOOOOOOOOOOO

Galaxycon Louisville 2019 Art Haul
Disclaimer: I’ve put watermarks on the artwork to discourage art theft. Please don’t copy/repost work from artists. Go to their pages and share or buy their work directly! I’ve made it super easy by including links to all of their webpages. To the artists I’m spotlighting: if for any reason you want to be removed from this post you need only ask.
I think we could sub-title this con “when Joi sees Good Omens or Dragons they loose their ever-loving mind!” lol
I want to state again how very chatty and friendly this con was. This was my second? year attending the Louisville con and by the end of both days I was so hoarse form all the chit-chatting. Celebs, fellow crowd-goers, and artists... Everyone seemed to be very cheerful and ready to connect. I’ve been to cons that have felt comfortable and I’ve been to some that felt a little hostile. But, this was, by far, the friendliest.
Friday I spent all day wandering Artist Alley with @anafiassa, chatting with anyone and everyone we made eye contact with. Including the following artists:
Kahahuna She had Crowley and Aziraphale Christmas ornaments that I’m kinda kicking myself for not investigating further.
RatCork Art and Illustration Honestly, I wanted all of this artist’s prints... She was the only one I sought out the second day because I decided I wanted the one on the right, too.
Please pardon the glare on the photos and go check out the artist’s website: Anime Gravy I mean, really... An Ace Unicorn? How could I resist?? Let me tempt you: there’s an axolotl under the link!
I have never, not even once, before seen Alton Brown fanart. I didn’t even realize that it was missing in my life until I saw it. All of Corrine’s art is so whimsical and happy I want to crawl into it and live there. So much so that I actually got a calendar for next year from her so I can have her artwork around all year long. (She even left off putting a hole to hang the calendar so you can frame it when the year is up!) Please, do yourself a big favor and check out all of her art on her website.
Robin Overton had so many sketches at his booth that it’s hard to choose! I’m hoping to run in to him at a con later on to get more. For now, I went with Carol (because I don’t see much fanart for her!) and Wonder Woman. lol Check out Robin’s website for more: The Black and White Guy.
I was delighted to run in to @mimosastudio again at this con. I just bought a bunch of buttons and pins from her at Cincinnati Comic Expo. I think I’ll probably get a handful more every time I come across her booth. Mimosastudioart
Last, but not at all least, I can’t be at a con with David Lee Pancake without stopping by to chat with him and his wife (his wife had lunch with us! love her) and picking up another little friend.

Games include Munchkin, Thanos Rising, Colony, Whistle Stop, Favor of the Pharaoh, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Boardgame, and more. There’s open gaming, competitions, demos, and raffles. Tabletop gaming is available on the second floor in Room 206 all weekend. The contest takes place in the Queen City Panel Room (Rooms 200-205) on Sept. There is also a Best Group category for two or more cosplayers who want to enter together, and a Best Prop category, with no accompanying costume needed. The categories are: Youth, Novice, Journeyman, and Master Class. The individual contests are organized by experience. Anything store-bought will get you laughed out of there, not to mention disqualified. The Expo holds a costume contest every year for fans who put their blood and sweat into making their costumes. Topics include sketching, writing, getting published, competitive cosplay, and more. The Expo’s workshops and panels are geared toward both fans and aspiring creators. To register, visit Booth 254 on the main floor. Speed dating goes down in Room 236 on the second floor. You will receive your results during your session. There will also be noon sessions both Saturday and Sunday for the LGBT+ community. If you’re single and looking for someone who shares your obscure and uber-hip tastes, speed dating at the Expo might be for you. Check for specific details on who’s willing to do what and for what price.

I competed in Cincinnati Comic Expo’s costume contest and won best prop for my bow and quiver! Still not over it, as there were some PHENOMENAL cosplayers out in force this weekend. Also got to be comfy in casual Link while helping run the booth for MyGeekery.
Hopefully now I’ll have downtime enough to shoot the four or five costumes I don’t have any decent pictures of yet!

Convention Review: Anime Weekend Atlanta
Convention: Anime Weekend Atlanta
Location: Atlanta (Marietta), GA
Date: Oct 30-Nov 1 (Fri-Sun)
Table cost: $266 with fees
Table size: 6'
Table placement: Last table in 900 row - the artist alley was on the far side from the entrance after all the vendor booths
Application: juried
Items for sale: 11x17" posters (fanart and original), tutorial artbook, coloring book, original comic (sons of fire), zines (fanart and original; sfw and nsfw), postcards (4.25x5.5", fanart and original), pins (original), resin coasters and jewelry
Mask policy: required for all (except when eating/drinking)
Previously attended? Yes, though it has been at least 6 years
Pros: Big convention with a long history, good guests (people were looking for items to be signed by said guests)
Cons: 7+ hour drive, lots of really good artists so it's hard to stand out
Most popular item(s): Posters (72), Pins (27), Coasters (26)
Least popular item(s): books (3)
Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) is one of the biggest cons in the southeast, and has a long-standing reputation as an amazing show. Getting in can be difficult, as the artist hall is juried, but I was lucky and got in this year. There was a huge range of artists and products (and I wound up spending a bunch of the money I made on other artists) so it wasn't just walls of prints. For me, the biggest downsides are that it is a 7+ hour drive from Cincinnati, meaning I have to arrive on thursday and leave on monday (making the hotel cost almost $400), and that there were so many good artists there it can be hard to stand out (plus attendees tend to get visually overwhelmed and being the last in a row means not everyone will get the whole way there)
Gross sales: >$2500
Recommend/will attend again? If I can get in - though I need to find some hotel friends to split costs!
