Another Christmas quilt - this one completed! It’s been awhile since I’ve done straightforward patchwork - or whatever it's called when you sew just squares together. I found it relaxing.
I also haven't machine quilted anything myself in awhile (preferring to hand quilt, not quilt, or pay someone to longarm). For this one, I cut some white flannel smaller than the top, then "stitched in the ditch" (on the existing seams) to attach it, then I did a bagged out finish (I've read that it's called that when you sew the top and backing together around the edges, leaving an opening, then turn it right sides out, instead of doing a binding).
So it's quilted with flannel as a batting, and it's backed with the red flannel you see here. I like it, as it's sort of heavy, but also more flexible than lofty batting feels to me.
Also, I want to note that I now have some cute satin tags that I bought from EverEmblem on Etsy and they work really well for tagging my quilts (seen at the bottom of the finished pic).
Pattern: Just 6" squares Fabric: Holiday/Christmas/winter fabrics I pulled from my stash, including Jolly Darlings (by Ruby Star Society), Twas (from Riley Blake designs), candy cane stripe fabric from JoAnn, and others

Post-Vegas Maxiel | 1.2K
The lead-up to Max’s fist on Daniel’s front door is a hazy kaleidoscope of memories.
Flashes of sponsor-branded tumblers with gin and tonics being pressed into his hands, which started the night steady and ended up shaky when they tried to sneak under Martin’s shirt and feel up his chest.
Fuzzier still: Martin pulling him into a hug and whispering something against Max’s sticky, sweaty temple about where Max really wanted to be. He can’t make out the words in his hazy memories, only their too-kind cadence, but he remembers the shape of the name Daniel on Martin’s mouth and the way he suddenly stopped wanting to kiss it.
His phone history highlights a costly change to his flight path, a car service for when he landed, typoed assurances to his team that he’d make it in time for Qatar, and four calls that Daniel never returned.
So Max is here in LA, knowing Daniel is probably warm and fast asleep in bed. He can picture the leg hanging off the side of his mattress. His white noise machine will be making Daniel’s bedroom sound like rain, a different shower than the champagne that was poured over Max’s head and down his throat.
He longs to be inside. To press his broad chest against the muscles of Daniel’s back. To kiss down the heated skin because Daniel keeps his bedroom warm like Perth summer and prefers flannel sheets.
Max’s whole body aches with every movement and the need to hold Daniel, even as a solid thrum of excitement keeps his spine rigid and eyes open. He wants to take what Daniel hinted could be theirs when all this was over, even though Max still has two more races and maybe more years left. He’ll be okay if Daniel isn’t ready, but the part of himself that was genetically designed to know Daniel tells him he’s allowed to try.
“Max?”
And then Daniel’s there, confused and squinting around the side of the house. Not asleep, the way Max pictured. He’s in shorts and nothing else, the side of his hand pressed to his forehead as he tries to ward off the sun’s glare and process what’s in front of him.
Max, little pieces of confetti still stuck to his cheek, holding nothing but his backpack and a phone on 10% battery. Max, bleary-eyed and mouth beginning to taste of hangover and death.
He knows he’s not a vision, that this isn’t the big romantic gesture he’d planned with dirt bikes under a Christmas tree. Instead, he hopes his flushed cheeks and mussed hair and the break of his face into the same kind of smile that lived under his helmet when he crossed the finish line … he prays those are enough, that Daniel is healed enough to let himself want Max now and like this.
“I won,” Max says dumbly. He wishes he remembered to grab a water bottle from the car service so the sentence wouldn’t dry tacky and cotton under his tongue.
“You won,” Daniel says, matter-of-fact. He’s not upset or elated. He’s not anything different. He’s Daniel, as himself as ever, looking like he expected this, like Max belongs here the same as the green grass and cement walls.
Max doesn’t feel ridiculous and fearful with Daniel holding him in the stare of his gentle eyes. They’re crinkled at the edges from all his years of laughing — many of the moments shared with Max adding to their depth since the skin there was taut with their shared youth. Max is developing his own smile lines, finally old enough for his skin to permanently imprint the joy of knowing Daniel.
“I have to leave for Qatar tomorrow,” Max says. He takes a step toward Daniel, then another, until Daniel begins to move too.
Max processes for the first time the way Daniel glows under the LA sun and considers that maybe he could make a home here too in Daniel’s joy. He’d seen him in Monaco. He’d been able to confirm for his own eyes that Daniel was taking ownership of this new life and thriving in it. He’d been too nervous then to do more than take Daniel to lunch and padel and observe him cautiously, trying to note every change in his month of healing.
He has the same relaxed and relieved demeanour now as he did then. Daniel is beautiful and belongs everywhere, but Max would make his home in LA just to watch the way Daniel lives so carefree under these palm trees and hundred lane highways.
His shoulders are even looser here than they were Monaco. When Max places a hand on Daniel’s bare, sun-warmed hip, he can feel the tiniest squish of where Daniel can finally eat all the schnitzel he wants. He’s a cactus built in the tough conditions of a sport that didn’t love him back, and he’s still blooming his flowers without it. Max wants to cup him like he’s something precious and be grateful that this sport didn’t make him bitter, that he was born so good that he could survive all this and love Max anyway.
“Guess you don’t need to get me a Christmas present after all,” Daniel jokes. His giggle ducks his head down to Max’s shoulder for a half second, hair tickling the nape of Max’s neck.
Max didn’t need his point to win, sure. But he liked having it; knowing that Daniel set a lap record as his final fuck you to the blind fuckers who quit on him, a lap that also gifted Max breathing room. He’d wished in the plane ride home after Singapore that fastest laps had something tangible for him to steal and hold in Daniel’s absentia. A trophy, a plaque, anything he could grip between his heat-swollen fingers to remember how his chest felt when his radio crackled with the news of Daniel’s triumph.
Max shakes his head, which sends a slightly dizzying wave through his dehydrated, sleep-deprived body. He adjusts his grip tighter on Daniel’s skin, a needed reprieve after the physical ache of wanting.
“You of course still get a Christmas present,” he tells Daniel. He briefly wishes his breath were fresher, but he doesn’t think Daniel will mind too much. “A real one, too, but also.”
He drops his bag on the grass then so his other hand is free to trace the contours of Daniel’s stubbled jawline. Max thinks that if Daniel is careful, Max will be okay to strap the seatbelt around his thighs this week even with the lingering beard burn.
Daniel gifts him the kiss instead, while Max is busy trying to memorize this moment inside his bleary head. His lips are wet against Max’s parched, chapped ones, but he doesn’t pull away from the reminder of Max’s night spent celebrating a world that Daniel was choosing to forget.
Instead, Daniel’s arms ensnare his waist and tug him closer until Max’s breath hitches and he forgets they’re in a front lawn and loses himself inside Daniel’s mouth.
“Congratulations, champ,” Daniel says, pulling away only long enough to speak the words. His nose brushes Max’s when he speaks and begins to tug Max toward the front door. “Let’s get you home.”

Crimson Christmas | Bang Chan
Tumblr media
Day 8 of the 12 Days of Staymas!
Synopsis: It is time for the annual Stray Kids (plus one) gift exchange, and Bang Chan has an interesting gift up his sleeve for you.
Pairing: bf!Bang Chan x fem!gf!reader
Genre: Fluff, Crack, Suggestive
Warnings: Lingerie, allusions to sexual intercourse
Notice: Hello, darlings! Welcome to the eighth day of Staymas! This is the one and only truly "suggestive" fiction for this series, so....Merry Christmas, lol! Enjoy the reading, and check out the other stories if you would like to :)
The dorm was alive with festive energy, every corner glowing from the soft, golden twinkle of the Christmas lights. The scent of cinnamon candles mingled with the aroma of Christmas dinner. Blankets and pillows were strewn across the couches, a few draped haphazardly on the floor, where some of the Stray Kids members were already sprawled out.
You balanced a tray of steaming mugs, each topped with a creative swirl of whipped cream and crushed candy canes, carefully dodging an excited Han who was attempting to wrestle a pillow away from Seungmin.
"Felix, if we watch 'Home Alone' one more time, I'm going to scream," Seungmin grumbled grumpily, his tone as flat as ever. He narrowly avoided the pillow that Felix launched in retaliation.
"Leave him alone!" Hyunjin drawled from his self-designated throne of throw pillows near the fire place, his hair catching the flicker of the flames like a halo. "Let him live his festive truth!"
"Forget his festive truth," Minho reorted, reaching for a marshmallow from the tray you were precariously holding. "Let us live without the same movie on repeat each holiday season."
"Minho!" you scolded, twisting your body to save the tray from certain disaster. "If you don't let me put this down, you're all getting instant coffee instead of hot chocolate next year."
"Babe, you're doing amazing. Don't let them get to you." Chan, perched on the arm of the couch, chuckled softly at your exasperation.
Finally, you placed the tray on the coffee table, passing out the mugs one by one to a chorus of, "Thank you, y/n!" and exaggerated sighs of relief. Chan tugged you down beside him as soon as your hands were free, his arm slipping around your shoulders.
"You spoil them too much," he murmured, his lips barely brushing against your temple.
"That's what Christmas is for," you replied with a grin, gesturing towards the chaos as Felix launched into another impassioned defense of 'Home Alone.'
As the boys finally agreed on 'Elf', albeit, after much negotiation and a few suspicious rock-paper-scissors matches, you reached behind the couch and pulled out a stack of boxes. Each one was wrapped in crisp red paper with little silver ribbons tied in bows.
"Alright, children," you announced, setting the boxes down on the coffee table. "It's time for presents!"
They scrambled over the gifts like actual children, eagerly grabbing their boxes and tearing into them. Each box contained a matching pajama set, fluffy socks, and a small treat you had picked for each of them, such as a minature fox plush for Jeongin, a new sweets recipe notebook for Felix, and a scented candle for Changbin.
"Y/n, you're the best," Han declared, already pulling his socks on.
"This is so soft," Hyunjin announced, grinning as he held up his pajama top.
You basked in their delight, feeling the warm glow of satisfaction that came from making the people you love happy.
"Well, my love," Chan suddenly began. "We can't you go without a gift, now can we?" Chan reached behind the couch, pulling out his own gift box; this one was a chartreuse color, wrapped in a golden bow. Your name was scrawled on the tag in Chan's familiar handwriting.
"Let's see what the man of the house picked out for me," you teased, lifting the lid.
Inside was a pair of cozy flannel pajamas in a soft cream and emerald green pattern, folded neatly on top of a small bundle of tissue paper. You smiled, lifting the fabric to admire it, only to freeze as the tissue paper shifted, revealing something entirely unexpected.
Your breath caught as your fingers brushed against delicate lace, deep crimson and impossibly intricate. The lingerie set nestled beneath the pajamas was impossibly intimate, and your cheeks flamed the same color as realization hit.
You shot a wide-eyed glance at Chan, who was already watching you with a mischevious twinkle in his eyes. His lips quirked into a barely suppressed grin.
Before you could react, Seungmin, ever the curious one, leaned over to peek into the box.
"Wait, what is that-"
"Chan!" you exclaimed, slamming the lid shut with a sharp thud. "Not in front of the children!"
The room erupted into chaos. Han choked on a marshmallow, his laughter turning into wheezes as he rolled onto the floor. Changbin and Felix clutched their stomachs, their faces bright pink from laughing so hard.
"Chan!" Minho screeched, clutching his chest in mock scandal. "On Christmas Eve?! Really?!"
Hyunjin, the ever dramatic one, flopped onto the carpet with a hand over his heart.
"This is better than the movie," he declared, wiping a fake tear from his cheek.
Chan leaned closer to you, his face flushed but his grin shameless.
"What? It's festive."
"Festive is not the word I'd use," you muttered, glaring at him, though your lips betrayed you with a twitch of amusement.
The boys continued their exaggerated uproar, shouting over each other with increasingly dramatic reactions. Changbin gasped about being scarred while Jeongin muttered something about needing therapy.
Chan, unfazed by the chaos, pulled you closer, his lips ghosting over your ear as he whispered, "Merry Christmas, baby."
You could not help but laugh, shaking your head as you leaned into his warmth.
"You're unbelievable," you uttered quietly, a soft smile on your lips contrasting your stark words.
"Maybe I could make it up to you?" he questioned, his voice shushed to where only you could hear him. "I could always give you another present."
"Oh yeah?" you challenged. "Like what?"
"Well, I'd have to show you, but I will say you'll have to wear the present I got you in order to get it." Chan's eyes darkened slightly, yet the cheeky grin on his face was ever-present. You stared into his gaze, your face flushed but your lips twisted into a daring smirk.
"Deal," you agreed, eliciting an eyebrow raise and soft giggle from Chan as he pulled you closer into his embrace.
Despite the teasing, the laughter, and the absolute mayhem, you could not imagine a more perfect Christmas Eve.

I absolutely love these designs! and was just wondering what inspired them? I'm curious of what the plot's about, since everyone's species swapped
why not answer this question with another ref sheet(?) :3
Tumblr media
I’d like to say, first and foremost, thank you very much for the love 🫶 i love getting asks and requests, these sillies live in my brain and drawing them is their rent
Second, i’m probably gonna keep plot talk on the DL unless i decide not to make a comic! Sorry :,3
Last but not least, inspirations. hooo boy this is a doozy
Firstly i wanna say i was inspired to make a comic specifically because of older ut comic dubs (Christmas party, handplates, Aftertale, etc) along with Scott Pilgrim and @akanemnon’s Twin Runes comic! (check them out i love twin runes a lot!!!)
The idea for the au is really just “What if the humans were monsters and the monsters were humans?” or, also “what if the (former) monsters were on the surface and the (former) humans were underground?” Classic Overtale plot!
Going in order, starting with AXIS, he’s actually one of the newest designs! i made him in my german class last week („•v•„U ) I wanted Axis to have a design change but remain a robot, maybe being more humanoid due to being made by a human! Changed his pipes and light bulb into what resembles hair and his wheel into roller blades!
Next up, Ceroba! i’ll be honest, i really don’t like Cerobas canon design that much. Love the colors but the short skirt and boots are not it, especially if she’s intended to be a more traditional japanese character. Like she’s not a magical girl, she’s in her 30’s?? Anywho, i made her prominently orange instead of pink (again, magical girl) along with lightening natural hair due to age and stress!
Clover. Clover Clover Clover!!! what do i even say about this precious little pup?! :3
I guess i could start with them being a Kitsune, of course, being switched with the Ketsukanes. Seeing as Ceroba is a mother and is often portrayed as taking a motherly role to clover, i figured a kitsune would fit them nicely! Along with being a cute, fun to draw, and curious troublemaker! I always like to remind myself that Clover’s just a kid.
Next up, Star! or, in this au, Stanley Sterling, the performative sheriff of a humble little town! i decided to switch up his poncho a little, for the sake of changing his design, gave him chaps (i like to call em pantaloons hoohoo!) and teal tassels for days! He’d prolly know more about cowboys than canon Starlo because, yknow, he lives on the surface!
Ah Martlet, or now, Marlette! but most just call her Marley. She has ~4 different outfits planned, a cozy, aviator style one for “Snowdin”, a sleeveless shirt with her flannel round her waist and a bandana for “the Dunes” and that flannel over her shoulders for “New Home”! along with a tee and pj’s for the epilogue. Her outfit is easy to manipulate so it only stays the same so often. Also, talon boots! ;]
And Dalv! Poor fella stayed a monster for the plot 😿 but i changed his design so he’s got a jacket similar to the one he has in Snowdin in uty but a whole lot smaller lol, along with a Batty pendant, a red vest and shoes and carved down horns! poor fella :(
Feel free to ask questions about these guys i am more than pleased to talk about them

A Sexy Fireman Calendar But Make It Stormlight
Happy New Year! Let's imagine what a "sexy men of Roshar" calendar would be like. And yes, yes I am trying to do purely visual gags in a written medium. What can I say? I don't draw.
Anyway, here's how I think such a calendar would be designed if it were made for us since I'm too lazy to look up the names of Rosharan months and I want to make holiday jokes.
1. January: Dalinar
What better way to kick off the new year than with a man who reminds us to just keep taking the next step?
Dalinar is sitting in front of a fireplace full of flamespren wearing his uniform...but with the jacket and shirt all the way unbuttoned, like he's relaxing after a long day of work, his presumably hairy chest on full display.
2. February: Drehy and Dru
The Valentine's Day month of course must feature Urithiru's hottest gay couple.
Drehy and Dru are lying on a heart-shaped mattress, with a red blanket draped artfully across their bodies, rose petals surrounding them. Aside from the blanket, they don't appear to be wearing anything at all...
3. March: Adolin
Adolin is wearing his Easter Best--namely a pink linen shirt with a deep V-neck, a white scarf, white pants, and a winning smile. Also, I think he should be holding a baby bunny, just to really sell it.
4. April: Lopen
Lopen is upside down, stuck to a wall, his rakish grin suggesting that this April Fool's Joke is on you--but also that you'll be laughing along with everyone else.
5. May: Rlain
Like a herald of Spring, Rlain is sitting reclined, his back against a tree, surrounded by blooming flowers. He's in warform, his sharply chiseled muscles making an excellent contrast to all of the soft, bright nature around him.
6. June: Sigzil
Sigzil stands, shirtless and glistening with sweat, beneath the blazing sun. It looks like you caught him mid-kata, spear in hand.
7. July: Kaladin
Kaladin has been photographed in the midst of a summer thunderstorm: his wet hair blowing sideways but in an artful way, his wet undershirt sticking to his chest, and a dramatic bolt of lighting in the background.
8. August: Skar
The back-to-school month features our favorite teacher. Skar is clearly mid-lesson, floating off the ground, glowing with Stormlight, holding his hand up as though expounding.
9. September: Renarin
Renarin is standing amid fall colors, leaves floating gently to the ground around him. He's dressed as if for the crisp fall air in a long coat, flannel shirt, and pants. He's holding a warm mug of cider, the steam rising past his face.
10. October: Hoid
Hoid...well I'd have to say he looks both hot and creepy. He's wearing a masquerade mask and suit, holding a martini glass. His eyes say that he has many secrets.
11. November: Rock
Rock has made you a FEAST for Thanksgiving! He's standing in front of a table laden in food (stew front and center, of course), holding his arms out wide as if inviting you to join him, a huge grin on his face.
12. December: the Stick
It's stuck in the ground, standing up, with a single Christmas ornament as decoration.
Yes, despite not being a man, the stick has made it into the Sexy Men Calendar. What can't it do?

My friend, after seeing me in a st t-shirt: gotta admit, they do have cool designs for merch!!
Me: yeah :)
Me internally: you say this, my friend, because you haven't seen the shot glasses. The suitcase. The terrible font flannel shirts. The lava lamps, the actually ugly christmas sweater, the cheaply made vessel figurine, the hair clips, the faux leather jacket, the--

Silent Nights, Steady Hearts🎄♥️
Tumblr media
Characters: Husband!Jay Halstead x Black!Reader.
Word Count: 500+.
"A Season of Love Christmas Series 🎄♥️"
Tumblr media
The chill of Christmas morning seeped through the windows, the faint glow of dawn casting soft shadows across the bedroom. You stirred slightly, the warmth of the blankets tempting you to burrow deeper into them.
But then you felt it—the familiar press of Jay’s lips against your forehead. It was gentle, unhurried like he had all the time in the world to wake you.
“Merry Christmas,” he murmured, his voice still rough from sleep.
“Mmm,” you hummed in reply, cracking one eye open to see his boyish smile. He was already dressed, wearing his favorite green henley that you loved, paired with that flannel he always claimed was “just practical.” But it wasn’t his clothes that caught your attention. It was the way he was holding a steaming mug of coffee in one hand and a small, carefully wrapped gift in the other.
“What’s this?” you asked, propping yourself up on one elbow, curiosity mixing with the comfort of the moment.
“Coffee, first,” he said with a grin, handing you the mug. “Figured you’d need it to handle what’s coming next.”
You sipped, savoring the familiar taste. “What’s coming next?”
“Open this,” he said, placing the small gift in your lap before sitting down on the edge of the bed, his gaze steady but tinged with nervous anticipation.
Carefully, you peeled back the paper, revealing a velvet box. You glanced up at him, your heart skipping a beat at the intensity in his expression.
“Jay…”
“Just open it,” he said softly, his hands clasped together as he leaned slightly forward.
Inside was a delicate silver necklace, the pendant shaped like a compass.
“It’s beautiful,” you whispered, tracing the intricate design with your fingertips.
Jay cleared his throat, his voice low but steady. “I know it’s simple, but… it felt right. A compass—it always points you in the right direction, right? And for me…” He paused, rubbing the back of his neck before continuing. “You’ve been that for me. My constant. My home. No matter how lost I get, you always bring me back.”
Your breath hitched, and you felt a lump rise in your throat. “Jay…”
He leaned in, brushing a strand of hair behind your ear. “I know my job’s not easy on our relationship. I know I’m not always easy. But you’re everything to me, and I need you to know that. Not just today, but every day.”
You reached out, wrapping your arms around his neck and pulling him into a tight hug. “You’re my home too, Jay,” you whispered, your voice thick with emotion.
He held you close, his hand sliding up your back, grounding you both in the moment. When he finally pulled away, he took the necklace from the box and fastened it around your neck, his fingers brushing against your skin.
“Perfect,” he said, a soft smile playing on his lips as he admired how it looked on you.
You leaned in, pressing your forehead to his. “Merry Christmas, baby.”
“Merry Christmas,” he replied, his voice a quiet promise, steady and unwavering—just like him.

My Fashion HCs for Teenage/YA Kyle Broflovski
Disclaimer: These are just my design notes that I consider when designing/drawing Kyle and my personal interpretation of how I think he would dress and present himself! You're free to disagree or even take inspo from this. I don't own clothes nor your opinion. 🫶 Please also feel free to let me know your personal fashion HCs through the comments or tags as well. I'd love to hear other people's interpretations of these characters and I'm always collecting new HCs!!
Getting this out of the way first: he's a bad dresser.
HAVE YOU SEEN HIS PC DESIGN?
The boy does not know how to dress himself.
I imagine he gets his clothes mostly from Sheila and Gerald.
When he gets Gerald’s clothes, he looks pretty good, albeit sometimes it can be a bit big on him when he’s younger.
God help Sheila though. She’s doing her best but I HC her to be a second-generation immigrant and she dresses Kyle up from time to time. HAVE YOU SEEN HIS CLOTHES? Sheila is 100% the type to put Kyle in some funky ass patterned zigzag stuff and thinks her bubbeleh looks adorable.
Absolutely no sense of layering. He wears one thing and that's the outfit. Has to be told how to wear a sweater vest/vest over a dress shirt. The most layering he’ll do is a flannel over a t-shirt. Someone save him.
The worst part about getting his fashion sense from his parents is that he dresses like a dad /derogatory
At least he wears belts.
Also: no sense of customization. He will buy the clothes and he will wear them as is. If he’s feeling adventurous, he’ll tuck the shirt into his pants.
He absolutely bought the same green ushanka after his old one grew out. Whether it's the same color or if it's a slightly more desaturated one, idk (for his sake, I hope it's a more desaturated one). But that dude definitely bought the same one because he likes to hold onto the things he holds dear for longer than he should and not let go. He's stubborn and that hat is going nowhere.
He strikes me as someone who would wear Lacoste and Ralph Lauren
A sneakerhead.
I like to HC he got into sneakers because he initially wanted to fit in with cool people, but then he genuinely got into it.
Colors
God awful. He chose the worst kind of saturated green and the worst kind of saturated orange to be his favorite colors, and constantly pairs them together thinking it looks good. He does not in fact look good. He looks like a High-Vis Jacket. Or a traffic cone.
He gets one or the other: Either the colors work and his clothes are horrendous, or the fit kinda eats BUT YOU CAN’T EVEN LOOK AT IT BECAUSE YOUR EYES ARE BLEEDING FROM THE COLORS
Also, horrible patterns oh my god the patterns. From zigzags to stripes to argyle to gingham to plaid. The thing is these patterns aren’t bad BUT PAIRED WITH HIS CLOTHES AND THESE COLORS? He looks like a carpet shop. Christmas sweater looking ahh
At the very least, occasionally he'll wear neutrals like brown, beige, black and white.
In terms of actual clothes:
Tops
Ugly ass polos. Either a beige one or an Uncle Roger type of orange polo.
Also polo knit sweaters
Boring ass t-shirts. Either in neutral colors or his all time favorite saturated green or saturated orange.
Sweatshirts.
Sweaters.
Turtlenecks
Dress shirts, blouses, and button ups. Long and short sleeves.
Probably his dad’s Alma Mater hoodie.
His basketball jerseys.
If and when he learns... some vests and sweater vests. Must be given guidance on this (mostly from Butters).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pants
Skinny jeans. Enough said. At least has the ass for it.
Or any tight-fitted pants, like chino pants.
Or dress pants from Gerald that are too big on him.
His basketball shorts.
Fishing shorts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(that skinny jeans picture kills me. yes he'd wear skinny jeans like this. yes he'd cuff them up and you can see his ankles.)
Jackets/Coats
Blazers.
Flannels.
Fleece jackets.
Waxed cotton jackets.
Barn coats.
Wool car jackets.
Sometimes he'll wear the jackets fully zipped too.........
I imagine him wearing stuff with a tweed material, like a tweed blazer.
When he's older, he'll wear longer coats that his dad gives him, like topcoats or overcoats.
Some sporty windbreakers.
Maybeeee bomber jackets. Has to be given guidance on this or borrows Stan’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shoes
Again, sneakerhead. So New Balances, Air Forces, Air Maxes, Air Jordans, Adidas, basketball sneakers, etc. (Disclaimer: I'm not a sneakerhead. This is just what I was able to gather based on one quick google search).
“DON’T CREASE MY JORDANS!!!”
Cartman's probably the one creasing them.
Some Timbs too.
Sometimes dress shoes when he wants to feel fancy, but he always gets called a douche for it.
For snowy days: heavy duty winter boots.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Accessories
No jewelry. Very boring. Just belts.
Sweatbands for his head and wrists, but only when he’s playing basketball or working out.
For gloves, I imagine those thicker, heavy duty winter finger gloves.
He tries ties, but they are not good. Once again: ugly patterns or colors.
Sometimes needs his reading glasses (he tries to deny it, but he does need them occasionally).
Edit: FORGOT TO ADD he'd totally wear watches.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hats
His stupid ushanka/trapper hat.
Some sport caps
Other miscellaneous stuff:
One thing’s for sure: he’s well groomed.
Not a single wrinkle on his clothes. He knows his way around an iron.
Buttons up every button, though sometimes that makes him look a loser nerd or an uptight douche. Stan has to tell him to at least unbutton the two top ones.
At the very least, his clothes are well tailored to fit his body.
His sneakers are always pristine white. Takes good care of them.
I want to say he sometimes wears cologne but no. I know in my heart he’s an axe body sprayer user. Give him some time, he'll learn.
Hair
At some point went through a phase where he just shaved off all of his hair.
It takes a while for him to learn how to take care of his hair, but he gets some tips from Bebe + a barber shop recommendation from her and he’s never looked back.
Before that, he would just tie it up or hide it under his hat. He still does that though when he's overwhelmed with schoolwork and can't properly take care of it.
Uses some kind of hair product Bebe gives him to make his curls defined (another disclaimer: I have straight hair and not a curl expert so im not tooo sure on this 😔, my only knowledge is based on those curly hair GRWM youtube shorts that pop up on my feed).
But yea, well defined curls and a bit of a little bit of a fade just to get rid of some weight off of his head. Though he probably only gets the fade when he's 17-18.
Diagnosis: BAD BAD BAD. DESPERATELY needs an intervention.

synopsis: The first time Sam has a proper interaction with the twins' older brother, she's on the ground. When Sam is in the tenth grade, he's the reason she gets called to the principal's office. She's got her phone beside her pillow at full volume at all times and he's why. She realises that she'll be making excuses for him all her life. Josh and Sam in the years leading up to the prank. Or, all the boys people Samantha Giddings has ever had a crush on.
a/n: hi.... this is my first post on here officially - i am LONG retired from writing, but i have loved these two since FOREVER and wanted to give it a shot. expect many chapters!
word count: 4.6k
The first time Sam has a proper interaction with the twins’ older brother, she’s on the ground. It’s the scrape of wet gravel dragging across her back and stinging pain that makes her eyes water that embeds the event into her memory forever. She recalls looking up from the schoolyard floor and seeing a flannel with a white t-shirt under it, the fabric flapping wildly in the cool wind like a superhero’s cape. Even now, when she thinks back to that moment, it isn’t the fight that she remembers first - it’s the bright red on his white shirt from the other boy’s nose. He’s got the boy’s arm pinned behind his back.
She knew that middle schoolers got into fights, but it had never happened so close to her. And over her childish badge, too? Embarrassment bubbled in her stomach.
Sam is in the fifth grade, but she still wears a pink glittery badge with gold stars on her pencil case. It says Save the Manatees in big white bubble letters and she’s ashamed to admit that her dad bought it for her when they went to the conservation centre in Florida. That was last summer, before she was old enough to realise that the trip was the last time she would see her parents within the same vicinity of each other. Now she will spend her second Christmas alone with her mother, making do with Christmas movies on the TV and dinner alone because her mother’s on the night shift.
It was the last day before winter break and Hannah and Beth wanted to spend time at Sam’s before they went back to their lodge for Christmas.
“It’s nothing special, just so you know,” Sam said quickly.
The twins didn’t care, but Sam’s ears reddened at the thought of the twins stepping into her mom’s little 80s style apartment. Despite going to school in the Hills, the twins were rich - a whole different plane of existence than the other students. Their dad was the Bob Washington, but if you met them you wouldn’t even be able to tell, by the way that Hannah has kept the same pencil case since the third grade (she’s emotionally attached to it) or the way that despite receiving designer earrings from her father every Christmas and birthday, Beth still wears spiky rubber earrings from Claire’s (“but they’re cute!” she protests, whenever someone points it out).
So she had let them start to walk her home, before she had felt for her little pink pencil case and noticed that it didn’t occupy its usual spot linked around her bag strap.
“Just because your daddy’s famous doesn’t make you the boss of me.” The other boy chucks the badge to the floor. Sam couldn’t tell the boys apart through her blurred vision - through her dusty eyelashes their arms were linked like two bulls at the horns. The older boy chuckles like this isn’t even his maximum capacity, and twists the other’s arm further with effortless ease.
When Sam finally is able to blink away her tears, only mortification ensues. It was Hannah and Beth’s brother who had come to her rescue; the infamous Josh Washington, who had won the affection of all the girls in the fifth grade.
Before she was friends with the twins, she had heard all sorts of stories about Josh Washington. Sam had never spoken to Josh, only seen him around school with his cocky half-smile and bag on one shoulder decorated with patches of obscure rock bands.
“He’s really cute,” a girl in her class once told her. “But he’s scary."
“My brother’s in his class and he said a special anger management teacher takes him out of class for one period every day,” another girl mused. “It’s because he’s insane, I bet.”
Sometimes she had tried to sneak a peek at him when she was over at the Washingtons’ - she wanted to know how the oldest Washington actually lived - if he really lived up to his infamy. He occupied her imagination sometimes - she would always imagine what he did beyond that great oak door he hid behind. He danced, maybe - she imagined big, scary Josh Washington whose knuckles were always bruised - he would sway along in his room with his headphones on like she would sometimes with his hands clasped over the sides. Sam already decided in her head -yes, Josh Washington wasn’t scary one bit.
Hannah and Beth always spoke highly of their older brother, despite the whispers from kids at school. Nothing anybody said about him was true - well, only half true - Josh had a wild temper, but the baseball incident only occurred because the offending party called Hannah a baby; and he actually didn’t attend anger management classes - it was a visiting therapist prescribed by his (private, and very expensive) psychologist.
The twins had mentioned he had struggled with mental health issues, but assured her it rarely affected his day-to-day life and if he hadn’t had to go to the therapist every day, you wouldn’t even be able to tell. This didn’t bother Sam - she had realised that there was something deeply wrong with her parents since she was maybe eight, and was well-equipped with dealing with people of questionable levels of emotional stability.
The younger boy tries to spit on him, but Josh kicks in his calf so that he drops to one knee. “Pick it up and say you’re sorry.”
The boy mutters a sort of apology in the direction of Sam and kicks the pin towards her. He’s trying to break out of Josh’s reach like a wild dog, but her hero is stronger and he presses harder onto the boy’s arm. A tornado of dust is getting kicked up around her by the boy’s legs, flailing ferociously and she has to use a hand to shield her eyes. Through the smut she can see Josh like he’s suburban Jesus, light from the classrooms peeking out from behind his silhouette.
“Nicely." Josh says it like it’s a threat.
A choke escapes his mouth as Josh lets him sink to the ground like water.
“I’m sorry,” he coughs out. The boy and Sam are on even footing now - she reddens as he extends an arm to return the pin. He doesn’t want to look at her, eyes trained to the floor behind him but Josh nudges his head with his knee so they are face to face. It seems stupid now, and she raises a shaky arm to take it back. The badge is mangled, a great crack extending through the diameter of the plastic right through the stars.
“You’re a fucking psycho,” the boy spits, and he makes himself scarce, red rubies of blood trailing him.
Sam looks to his savior and his expression softens. She must’ve looked visibly shaken, because when he pulls her to her feet he’s taking care to act with gentle motions.
“Are you alright?” He dusts off the gravel from her back with a touch so light she can hardly believe that his fists were the cause of the blood dripping down his shirt. Josh double taps the middle of her back to signal Sam to lift her shirt. Her bare back is grazed with blood and dirt - she hadn’t realised how hard she had been pushed to the ground until now.
Years of having two younger sisters have taught him well, because he uses his drink bottle to clear out the dirt from her graze with a careful hand, then wipes it clean with his shirt. When the cool water makes contact with her skin she tries not to shiver - LA is rarely cold but it’s the middle of winter and the breeze makes it bite. With a careful finger he brushes the dirt out of the plastic badge and fixes it back to her pencil case.
“My badge,” she says dumbly. It’s all she can muster at the moment.
Ten minutes later, Josh is walking her back to her sisters, a gentle hand on the small of her back, so soft that she’d almost forgotten she had grazed her back on the gravel. When they walk together, the heat of his touch warms her so the winter breeze doesn’t hurt her as much as it should. He’s not at all like what the kids in her class say - he’s actually quite normal, because they’re talking about their favourite music and what movies they like to watch, and Josh promises her that he’ll show her some real horror movies next time she’s over at the Washingtons’. He has his schoolbag around one shoulder, and Sam’s on the other, her pencil case looped around the strap of her bag. Josh has a steady arm around her throughout the whole walk back and it doesn’t relent, even when she thinks kids are making fun of him because he’s hanging out with an elementary school kid.
“Oh my god, Josh, what happened to you?!” Hannah gasped at the red swelling skin around his eye.
“Oh, Sam, your poor badge,” Beth touches her hand to the fissure on the pin and then the gravel lines lining Sam’s back. “Was it that asshole from Ms Johnston’s class? I’ll show him next time I see him.”
“No need,” Josh says, proudly brandishing his bruise. “He won’t touch Sam ever again.”
From then he’s been her knight in shining armour - Josh makes it his duty to be her personal bodyguard, assuring her that he’ll walk her home from school every day, even when it rains. He holds her bag too, and proudly, even though it’s pink, which makes her flush out of embarrassment, but also secretly pride. She imagines they will get married when they’re older and get a house with two kids and a dog. When they’re back from Christmas break, Josh dons a Save the Manatees badge on his bag as well, to which Sam responds by ironing a The Cure patch onto her own. He gets them matching star pins for their bags, just like the stars on her badge, and Sam keeps it on the left strap of her bag, next to her heart.
This only makes them subject to the twins’ relentless teasing, and they sing “Josh loves Sam!” as the three of them walk home from school.
Hannah mostly likes middle school - when she has classes with Sam and Beth. She's jealous of the way that most of the other girls wanted to be friends with them, and wondered why it was that she ended up so weird. She has fourth period art class alone, which usually she would like if she actually knew anybody in her class. Everyone else has already packed up their kits, but she's sitting in her stained white t-shirt with her glasses folded in her lap. Sam rushes to her side and wraps her into her arms, dabbing her face with her sweater sleeve. Something that she's sure of is that middle school girls are evil - she's certain, by the way the girls in her class call her 'Hannibal,' because her dad makes horror movies, and the way they splatter blotches of paint on the back of her shirt.
"Oh, Han," she sighs, rubbing her shoulder. "Don't listen to them."
"Be honest," Hannah hiccups through tear-strained eyes. "Do you think my brother is insane?"
Sam brushes her fingers through Hannah's hair and smooths it back, tucking it behind her ears. She finds it endearing, that out of all the things that the girls have teased her about, Hannah's the most worried about her brother. That's the quality that she loved the most about the youngest Washington daughter - she loved her family as hard as she could, with every fiber of her being and with her whole heart.
"Everyone's insane. They were all over him like, a month ago," she rolls her eyes. "They're being ridiculous."
Hannah sobs softly into her hands, hot tears burning through Sam's sleeves.
"Hey, hey, don't cry." Sam picks up the fattest paintbrush on the table and draws a thick line running through her stomach, the red dripping down her shirt like blood. She pulls a face and makes a spluttering noise, like she's a horror movie victim, and the blood splatters on the table and onto Hannah's arm. "Look. I'm insane too."
She smiles, but Hannah's voice still cracks when she speaks. "You're going to ruin your hoodie."
"So? We'll be matching, at least." Sam dips her finger in the thick paint and traces out H + B = BFF :) on her chest, and then onto Hannah's back. "Don't be sad, Han. Who cares about those girls? It's me and you forever."
When they enter the ninth grade, Josh is happy to make them a part of his world, a world where he possesses the ability to spin everyone around his little finger. He always calls out to her in the cafeteria, surrounded by a throng of admirers, his smile always the widest and brightest. Sam rolls her eyes but there’s a part of her that thinks it’s endearing that so many people are enamoured with him.
Beth doesn’t need his help at all, because on the first day of high school all the girls in their homeroom are asking her opinion on their clothes and inviting her to the movies over the weekend.
“They don’t like me," Beth huffs. “They only wanna be friends to get close to Josh.”
She didn’t know when she started paying attention to the way Josh’s shirt stuck to his body, or when she first realised her heart quickened whenever he had texted her first. In a way, she understood why so many girls at school liked him - he was naturally charming; he had a way of leaning close and listening with his whole body whenever someone spoke to him, making them feel like they’re the most important thing in the world.
While having an objectively hot brother definitely added to the appeal, Sam understood why everyone wanted to be friends with Beth, too. She could find a way to make anybody laugh - she and Josh shared the quality of being able to mess around through life like it was all one big game - a trait that Sam never quite got the hang of.
Sam’s first high school party is a pool party at the held by Josh at the Washington estate. The oldest Washington had been entrusted the house by Bob and Melinda for the weekend, freshly out of the hospital, who responded by promptly buying a keg. It's September but it's still hot outside, and she hasn't spoken to Josh properly all summer break. Sam doesn’t think she’ll ever be one for partying, but she can’t help but to admit that she loves the rush of epicureanism that comes with holding a red cup in her hand for the first time. It’s 100 degrees, and Sam matches navy low-cut swimsuits with the twins. They’re racy - not something she’s ever worn in her life before, but she’s excited to get a taste of the high school life. Hannah refuses at first, but Sam and Beth convince her, and they sparkle in their silver beach cover-up skirts.
Sam helps Josh and the twins set up, unfolding the ping pong table for beer pong in the garage while Beth blows balloons. When she’s done, she gets up to look for Hannah, who said she was setting up snacks. Despite coming over every other week, she loves the intrigue of the Washington house - its tall ceilings and dark oak floors. Every time she’s here, she stops to take in the sheer size of it, and admire the gorgeous antique furniture Melinda’s decorated the estate with. She stops at the doorway of the living room to see Josh, dancing alone to the newly set up speaker system.
It’s an old 80s funk song, and he’s shaking his shoulders, singing along to the catchy chorus, until he catches her eye and sways his arms along to her, snapping in time to the beat. Something about the fact that he isn’t even embarrassed - and instead starts whipping out more elaborate dance moves - makes her feel proud to know him. The worst part is, he’s actually good at it.
“You know how to dance, Sammy?” he asks.
She breaks into a silly shoulder roll. “Baby, I know how to dance.”
He pulls her into a salsa and she can’t help but giggle. His hands are gentle and strong, clasping her hands firmly and it makes her blush. Josh claps in time to the beat, pulling her hands towards, then away from him and raising his hand to twirl her. The Washington living room is huge, and the newly set-up speakers make the music feel like it’s radiating below their feet. He drops a hand lightly to her hips and shimmies her along to the song. She has to admit, it’s fun - and she rolls her hips and claps as their laughter rings out through the room.
She accidentally locks eyes with him, but he only smiles and gives her a squeeze on the hip. Sam turns her body to him and he stops for a second, looking down at her lips and then back up at her eyes again.
“Hey, uh, Sam.” He pauses like he’s hesitating. “Thanks for, y'know ... looking out for my sisters while I’ve been gone.”
“They hardly need looking out for.” She puts a hand on his shoulder and squeezes gently. “We’re all here for you, Josh.”
Josh reaches for her and her heart starts to quicken. She wants to know what it feels like to close the gap between them, to experience what she’s only seen in movies. They’re standing so close - all she would need to do is take a step. Her mind starts racing at the idea and she quickly waves it away - no - it can’t be Josh.
A beat of silence.
He brushes her shoulder with his fingertips.
“Sorry. Dust on you.”
Her gaze is abruptly interrupted by mock gagging noises at the door. They break apart from each other immediately, Sam sheepishly smiling and making herself busy with her hair.
“Um, gross.”
Hannah is at the door, crossing her arms. She’s peering at the two with an intense look of amusement and surprise.
“Get a room, lovebirds.”
“You’re no fun, Han,” Josh smirks, but another song starts playing and Sam takes Hannah’s hand and leads her into a rumba box step. Dancing with Hannah is easier, she thinks - she doesn’t feel the pressure of being perceived, unlike when she’s dancing with Josh.
When it gets dark later that night, Sam has to put a t-shirt on to keep the goosebumps from pimpling her skin. The alcohol seems to make everyone around her immune to the breeze though, because everyone’s still in their swimwear. She’s on the karaoke machine between Beth, Emily and Jess, who’s definitely had too much to drink, because the latter is holding on to her with a death grip and yelling expletives at any man who comes close to her. They’re singing a girly pop song, complete with some silly choreography from Beth and Sam memorised from years of playing Just Dance together.
She doesn’t notice, but Josh surveys her from beside the pool, smiling at her childish moves. When the song is about to end, she sees him watching and winks, pointing a disco finger at him.
“Sammy!” Josh calls out, and she excuses herself to make his way towards him. He’s following her with his eyes, until she reaches his side, which makes him look away as if he’s been caught. He's lighter now, maybe the effect of a few beers, because his shoulders are back and relaxed and he's moving in slow motion.
“Yes, Josh?”
“I just wanted to let you know that…” he leans down to get closer to her. There’s a split second where he pauses, and she can’t tell if she imagined it, or if he gazes down at her lips. They’re locking eyes now, for a beat too long, and Sam holds her breath waiting for the impact of his words.
“You got something on your shirt.”
He reaches down as if to brush something off her. Her heart jolts when instead, he loops an arm around her waist and tries swinging her into the pool.
But her reflexes are faster. She latches onto his wrist and pulls him in with her, giggling as they plunge into the cool water. They’re panting a combination of laughs and shivers now and Josh bobs to break the surface of the water, flicking his wet hair out of his eyes.
“You’re gonna have to do a whole lot better than that to get me, sweetheart.” He lunges for her waist and she feels him circle it with his hands, hoisting her above his head. His movements are strong and steady, and despite being in the water, it feels safe.
“Don’t you dare drop me Josh-” she starts, but she’s too late, and he chucks her in the water with a deafening splash. Sam tries to get him in a headlock, but he wrestles her off, hands clasping around her wrists, sending shivers down her spine. Josh moves both of her wrists to one hand and pokes her side with the other and it makes her squirm into him.
They’re wrestling now, hands intertwined as she tries to splash him in the face. She’s surprised at how strong he is - she realises he’s never seen him shirtless before, only hoodies and pyjamas - and he’s much more muscular than he expected, chiseled like a statue.
“Wait, wait, wait, shhh.” Josh pulls her close into him and pivots her body so their bodies are pressed together. His hands are closed over hers so that they’re steady, stopping her from splashing any further. He leans down to her ear, and she can feel the electricity flickering from his wet chest pressed against her back. Sam suddenly feels hot, and she inhales to get her bearings again.
“Do you see that?” he whispers. His alcohol breath tickles her ear and she tries her best not to flinch. He nods towards Chris and Ashley sitting by the side of the pool, almost social distancing from how far apart they’re trying to hold a conversation. Their bodies are turned in towards each other, and it’s endearing how obviously in love they are - despite neither of them knowing. Ashley giggles at a joke Chris says and shifts closer to him, to which he turns away and runs a hand through his hair.
“Aww, so cute,” she muses. Her back is still pressed against him and she’s aware of how warm his skin feels against her’s.
“I know you think I’m cute, Sammy, you don’t need to remind me.” A cocky smirk lights his face, and she splashes his face with water. He breaks away from her, shielding his face from the chlorine with his hands.
“You’re so annoying. I meant them.”
“Don’t you think that all they need to finally hook up-” he bumps her with his hip, “is a little push?”
That’s how by the end of the night, Josh has convinced Chris and Ashley to have a chicken fight with them, and Sam feels like her face should not be flushing this much thinking about her legs wrapped around her best friend’s brother’s shoulders.
Ashley lunges for her and Sam steadies herself, tensing her legs around Josh’s arms. He responds by tightening his grip around her shins.
“Watch out, cochise. My girl can fight.” Josh taunts. My girl. The phrase shouldn’t make her cheeks flush as much as it does - Josh would flirt with anything that walked. She swerves from Ashley’s grip, reaching for the other girl’s arms. Ashley swipes at her but she dodges, reaching down to splash her with water. The two interlock fingers, trying to twist the other into the water, but Sam’s stronger and she almost topples Ashley forward into the water.
Ashley steadies herself, obviously flushing from accidentally brushing Chris with her chest. If he’s also embarrassed, Chris is doing a really good job at hiding it, because he jerks forward, giving her the momentum to push into Sam. Josh is able to weave out of the way, positioning Sam at Ashley’s side. The girls hold onto each other’s arms, and finally, with a quick but heavy push, Sam is able to get the other girl into the water with a splash.
Ashley grabs onto Chris’ hand as she falls and the both are submerged, laughing and clinging to each other. They’re gazing into each other’s eyes as they both break the surface of the water, still smiling to each other. Sam places her arms on Josh’s head and drops her chin so she’s resting on them. “Aww. We won, but they really won.”
Josh laughs. “Mission accomplished, huh, Sammy?”
She reaches down and splashes him with water. “When’s it your turn to get a girlfriend?”
“When you get some better dance moves.”
Sam rolls her eyes.
She’s in the upstairs bathroom drying herself off, when she overhears Josh’s voice through the open window. It’s early in the morning - maybe 8am - and the party has well cleared out, so that now the only occupants of the house are Sam, Josh and the twins. The girls are heavy sleepers, especially after the excitement of last night, but Sam’s always been a morning person and she wakes at 6:30 to go for a run.
“So you’re not able to make it.” He says it like it’s a statement. His voice is gravelly - she doubts she’d ever heard it without its jovial tone before.
A pause.
“It’s important to me.”
“I know, Dad.” A sigh. “Forget about it. I’ll see you next weekend, okay?”
A click to signal the end of the phone call, and a loud crash. Sam tries her best to make haste before she catches Josh. The door of the bathroom bursts open and Sam’s hand darts to her shirt, legs still bare.
“Fuck!” Josh covers his eyes with his hands. His eyes are red rimmed, like he didn’t get enough sleep, and he smells lightly of beer. Josh clears his throat and his voice is almost back to normal. “Sorry, Sammy.”
She tries to pull on her leggings and t-shirt as fast as she can, cheeks reddening. “No, no, I’m sorry.”
He peeks through his fingers and smiles weakly. “You decent?”
Sam bats at him with her t-shirt. “Josh!”
“Hey, I just need the medicine cabinet and I’ll be on my way,” he smirks. “Unless you need some help here.”
“You’re incorrigible.” She steps out of the way so that he can reach the bathroom mirror, and she’s suddenly aware of his presence right behind him. He pops open a couple of bottles and swallows the pills dry, not even stopping to read the labels.
After Sam has been with the Washingtons for more than half of her life, she realises that being friends with Josh is like having an alarm clock and not remembering what time you set it for. Sometimes he would be genial and warm, and other times he would freeze over. Sometimes he would pass her notes in the hallway. Sometimes, he wouldn't look at her at all. When she makes the swim team, he draws her three little manatees on a sticky note with speech bubbles above them saying, "You did it!" and "You're amazing!". She keeps them on the inside of her binder. Despite knowing him for so long, she still can't figure him out.
When the fall turns to winter, Hannah calls her in tears from the hospital. Josh won't be home for three months.

miloanddarlinmiloanddarlinmiloanddarlinmiloanddarlinmiloanddarlinmiloanddarlinm- they are best friends your honor I missed them sm after the last video, this chapter soothed my yearning heart
and the suits? maroon and navy?? they complement eachother so well??? they're my little autumn/winter cutie couple???? navy is such like a strong and reliable colour if that makes sense,, it just fits sam so well. where there specific reasons you chose these colours?
HIS TANTALIZING HIPSM?!MMAJJAHQHWVWYYAIK hey I just woke up and this is what I'm gonna be thinking about the rest of the day??
and yeah they bailed last minute to go to 7/11, who are yall trying to fool cuz its not working..... maybe this was just an excuse to see eachother in suits
in that case I respect it
are we ever going to get a sketch of our favourite pair and their hips?,,,,no pressure ofc
-🦀
YOUR Sam!!!! My fave little thing. It's such a cute little possessive thing for Darlin that I Love.
They ARE best friends!!! I love their relationship so much. They remind me of two kids who are outcasted and drifted together because of it. Idk I just love their dynamic and them being friends.
You KNOW I love an excuse to put characters in formal wear!! They really do look good together. I chose maroon since Darlin has really only been portrayed in DFD clothes and then warm tone colors. I think qualities of warmth are important to their portrayal for me. And yes navy for Sam! Everybody puts this man in the same red flannel and that drives me crazy. SAM IS A COOL COLOR GUY!!! I think he wears green most of the time, but if I put him in a green suit and Darlin in a red one... Christmas. It's also a reference to the common practice in graphic design to assign blue and green to medical things. Note that the majority of hospitals, medicines, and doctor's offices have some sort of blue or green motif in their design. Sam's a healer, and that should be evident just from looking at him, even on a subconscious level.
YOU KNOW HE'S GOT GOOD HIPS!!! And Darlin truly is just a guy/gn. They see their Sam's ass in a fitted suit and they drool.
I did initially intend for them to go to the restaurant when I started writing this chapter but as I was writing them walking in I just... it didn't fit. It just isn't them.
And Omg I would LOVE to sketch them in their suits. Can't promise when it'll be done but I can work on it!!!
Thank you for reading and sending me this ask, I love discussing the details that go into this story. More to come soon!!

Keeping Spirits Bright
Day 20: Goal + Wiggie <=AO3
Honestly it isn't Christmas without more of my I Am The Willies verse is it?
If you were to ask Willie, his favourite thing on Earth (after Reggie of course), is Christmas.
He loves the corny specials, the food, the tree, the snow, and most of all, the presents. Not getting them-though he does enjoy that aspect-he loves giving them.
Which is hard when your human boyfriend tells you that he has everything he needs right here while cuddling you when you ask what he wants. It’s a sweet thought, but Willie can’t exactly wrap himself and put it under the tree.
Well…maybe not under the tree…
But that still isn’t a real present, and this year, he wants it to be special. He’s been on this planet for five years now, and it seems like that’s worth celebrating. He knows Reggie has some plan-their anniversary had been quiet and romantic, the both of them agreeing that they wanted to do something big for Christmas.
So what does Willie get the person who is responsible for him staying here? He wonders if the message he sent to the elders back on his planet has reached them yet-no one has sent one back or come to get him but time is a funny thing, especially with space travel so he can never really tell how long he’s been gone.
He knows he needs to get socks-wooly socks have become a staple for him and Reggie. But they’ve bought pretty much every design the little old ladies in town sell, and Willie prefers homemade to mass produced. Maybe if he asks Miss Beulah she might do something for him?
“Well how about I teach you?” she offers. “Your young man will appreciate it all the more if it comes from you.”
So now Willie has a goal-learn to knit competently enough to produce a pair of socks by Christmas.
It is an uphill battle at first-he does not get the difference between knit and purl, and his hands feel extra clumsy holding the needles. But Beulah has the patience of a saint, and guides him until he has a few decent rows.
From then on, Willie practises whenever he has a chance and Reggie isn’t around. Sometimes hiding out in the hayloft to hang out with the cows while the needles click and clack.
His first effort is a disaster, so he gives the jumble of yarn to Jinx, the barn cat to play with. He’s tempted to give efforts two through four to the chickens-for as much as they’ve come to tolerate each other he will still never like them. But if they got sick or hurt he’d never forgive himself, so Jinx gets enough yarn to practically make a bed of the stuff.
Finally, on attempt six he gets it, making a decent pair of socks, showing them off to Beulah with pride. She gives him a pat on the head and gives him a new skein of yarn-red and black to match Reggie’s favourite flannel.
“I love you Miss Beulah,” he declares.
“Of course you do dear, now have some more cookies and tea before we start.”
Miss Beulah's grandkids are up in Oregon, and they barely ever visit her, so Willie doesn’t have a problem being her surrogate grandkid. He’s come a long way from when he first arrived; getting overwhelmed by the little town. He still isn’t great in crowds, but the older ladies have all but adopted him, and he has lots of fun goofing off with the kids he sees whenever he goes into town. It’s…nice that he’s made a place for himself here. Plus it means all the cookies he can eat since all the ladies love to spoil him, and some have even shared their recipes so he can make them for Reggie.
He’s already got a plan for an excellent Christmas morning breakfast, now all he needs is to finish these socks.
Christmas morning dawns cold and with a layer of frost over the ground-not quite snow, but Willie will take what he can get. He gets up before Reggie-it’s rare that he sleeps in, so Willie is going to let him today. He lets Rosie out to frolick, and tends to the animals, he’s got the routine down pat by now.
Brush down the horses and give them fresh hay-though today he slips them all an apple or two, because they deserve presents too right? He milks the cows, making sure they have lots to eat, and smooches Petunia on her snout-she’s his favourite after all.
The pigs are a new addition this year; Willie still isn’t sure what to make of them, but he feeds and waters them regardless, delighting in their little squeals of thanks. He always leaves the chickens for last-gathering their eggs and scattering feed as fast as he can-he’d been pecked one too many times to linger.
Then it’s back inside, Rosie nipping at his heels and he gives her an affectionate pat before filling her food bowl and starting on breakfast. Reggie joined them soon after, lured by the smell of coffee and pancakes. The fire was lit, the tree was twinkling, and with full bellies, they went to do presents.
Willie all but shoved Reggie’s gifts at him-there’s the usual practical gifts, plus sweets and the fancy hardcover edition of Reggie’s favourite book that he would never indulge himself with. But then he comes to the squishy package and his face lit up. “Are these my socks?”
“How did you know?” Willie asked, voice full of despair.
“Because we always give each other socks?” Reggie replied, tilting his head with confusion.
“Oh right, of course.”
Reggie shook his head, pressing a kiss to his temple. “Never change spaceman.” Then he ripped open the paper, cooing with delight over the colours, the softness of the wool. “Beulah outdid herself.”
“I made them.”
“What?”
“I learned to knit from Miss Beulah and made those for you,” Willie repeated. “I thought it would be a nice gesture-full of love.”
Reggie looked at the socks, then at Willie. “Marry me.”
Willie giggled. “They aren’t that good!”
Reggie shook his head, then pulled a tiny box from far under the tree, tore the paper off, and presented it to Willie, urging him without words to open it. Willie gasped as he saw the thin gold band engraved with constellations . Looking at Reggie who was waiting patiently, his face full of hope. And Willie could do nothing but nod, sobbing as the ring slid onto his finger.
He didn’t even care about his other presents-but he did make sure to open the socks that he was sure Miss Beulah knitted on the sly-because they matched Reggie’s perfectly, and it was that shot, of their matching socks in front of the fire, his hand held out to show off his ring that he sent her, wondering if he could convince her to knit them some wedding socks for next year.
Willie was fairly certain she would be more than happy to oblige.

Valancy’s first Christmas as a Redfern, I would just love for her to send the Stirling clan a big crate of expensive and passive aggressive gifts.
Uncle Benjamin- rubbers (I’m taking about the boots) or ice skates? (That seems equally absurd)
Mrs. Fredrick Stirling and Cousin Stickles - a quilt (one because they’re obviously sharing a bed or one each - your pick) Or hideous designer flannel petticoats
Olive - a box of assorted buttons (for her Hope chest) or broom and dustpan
Olive is the only one who can see these as insults while everyone else is bickering over who got the most expensive Redfern gift.
Please add more!

Voiceplay Visuals: This Is Halloween
So obviously I'm not the only one who loves talking about Voiceplay and analysing their content, but I wanted to do something a bit different from the kinds of analyses/reactions that other people do, both on here and on Youtube (and music theory isn't really my forte anyway). So I'm planning on making some posts just focusing on the videos (and Geoff's as well, eventually), rather than the music arrangement or vocals or anything like that. My credentials are being a Drama Kid during my high school years, and experience with this sort of analysis from my time in other fandoms. I'm not planning on doing every single video, and though I'm gonna go chronologically from mid-2017 onwards (why not earlier? Because Reasons). However, since I yesterday finished a fanfic based on Voiceplay's cover of This Is Halloween, (which I studied a fair bit to get details right), I might as well start there!
Tumblr media
Oogie Boogie pumpkin just outside the front door! (And a Jack Skellington one on the other side I believe?) These pumpkin also shows up in the spooky Halloween realm the group are transported to after eating the candy.
Credit to one of the comments which said that Earl is wearing a cow onesie and Eli is wearing a rooster onesie, which more likely than not is a callback to their (extremely hilarious) Chicken Song performance. (J is wearing a CatDog onesie, I think Geoff is wearing a giraffe onesie? And I'm not sure what Layne's onesie is meant to be)
Again credit to a commenter (different one), pointing out that Eli deadpan elbows Layne in the back, pushing him down after he eats the candy (likely a not-so-subtle acting cue or something like that, but still very funny once you notice it)
Tumblr media
The return of the Jack and Oogie Boogie pumpkins, along with some other creatively-designed Jack-O-Lanterns! Peep the one on the far right, a little more towards the back; its 'eyes' say VP, and its mouth is the Voiceplay logo!
Also a little bit of foreshadowing, whether intentional or not: when Layne wakes up, one of the first things in his line of sight is the axe resting on the hay bales...
Tumblr media
First of all, how many pumpkins were carved just for this video? Because a lot of effort went into making all those different designs for sure (and no, I'm not part of Voiceplay's Patreon, as the tier that lets you see behind-the-scenes stuff is like $8.50 AUD per month, rip). And second of all, this is a decent shot of how the group starts out upon waking up. J None is wearing a yellow plaid flannel quite similar to The Wolfman in Nightmare Before Christmas, and Earl is wearing denim overalls, like the behemoth character. Eli's outfit is of course representative of the Mayor of Halloweentown, but no spider bowtie or "Mayor" rosette (would've loved to see it, but eh no biggie). Layne I will get to in a moment, and Geoff a little bit after that.
Tumblr media
I can't be bothered getting a better picture of it but Eli's half-concerned half-weirded-out face after J's helium-like vocal line is very amusing to me
On the "eyes glowing red" line, Earl's eyes (which are white at this point) flash red for a very brief moment, basically blink-and-you-miss-it.
Tumblr media
The colour-change on Eli's left eye is so subtle that at first I didn't notice it at all, and then I only noticed it later on in the video, and only now, doing this analysis and taking a dozen screencaps, do I realize that it happens way earlier than I first thought (which explains why he takes his glasses off at this point I guess) (so uh, that's a minor inconsistency in my fanfic but it's fine)
Tumblr media
Shoutout to the makeup/SFX people who helped with this video honestly, they did a super good job, genuinely!
Tumblr media
(In which the frame-by-frame scrubbing technique comes in real handy)
An interesting choice to have Layne go through a sort of "half-transformation" stage, where he has a horn and red eye on one side of the face, while the other side of the face is normal. I like it though!
People have said that Layne is meant to be the devil (who is in fact another Halloweentown resident, but honestly I think he's meant to be Lock, or at least a combination of the two, because this what the two characters look like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See how Layne resembles Lock more? In the outfit choice if nothing else (Also he's kinda sorta got the right face shape for Lock imo). Also, Lock wears a red trick-or-treating mask with horns on top!
Tumblr media
Earl is really distressed about his hair falling out (not that I can blame him, really)
Tumblr media
This shot/moment is probably one of the ones that stands out to me the most (other than Certain Other Ones for Other Reasons that I will get to in a moment), because J comes across as pretty mournful here, like he knows what's happening but he's feeling really sad/regretful about it? (Also I only just noticed Eli's face in the background and I'm not sure what to make of it 😅)
Tumblr media
"pog" is not a word in my vocabulary 95% of the time, but this is basically just Pog faces right? (Geoff and Layne probably have the most fun of the group in this video ngl)
(Also I haven't yet touched on Geoff's transformations but I love the contouring work on his face!)
Tumblr media
My god this video is comedy gold when it comes to pausing/taking screenshots
Tumblr media
I daresay Eli ends up one of the least recognizable of the group by the end of it (other than J), and I wanna know how long that took to do
Tumblr media
Geoff is the only one in the video who gets an outfit upgrade (Good For Him)
They didn't bother being movie-accurate with Geoff's vampire appearance, and honestly I'm definitely not complaining. (they made him hotter)
Layne did the music arrangement, but Geoff was in charge of the video production. How much say did he have over his own costume/appearance I wonder?
Tumblr media
Visually speaking at least, nobody is even paying attention to him, they're just like "yeah that's just Geoff, normal behaviour, nothing new" 😆
I can't get a decent picture of it but shoutout to Layne doing a silly little run around the pumpkin stack, love that for him
Another small moment that a screencap wouldn't do justice: even as a vampire, Geoff still does his little self-conducting hand motions, which you might notice as he walks around the pumpkin stack, in the shot right after his "filling your dreams to the brim with fright" line
Tumblr media
Also love Geoff's little almost-Elvis-like moves in the background for a brief scene. I know multiple commenters have mentioned it, but I'm yet to see a reactor notice it
Tumblr media
Suddenly Layne is Concerned(tm) about Geoff's vampireness it seems?
Tumblr media
Also for someone who very much adores this guy, it took me an embarassingly long time to realise that Geoff's face at this point had become paler and his hairline had changed (and actually now that I type it up here, I think that might even be a wig? Oh dear)
Tumblr media
I don't really have anything to say about J's full transformation, but it would be unfair of me to not include him as well, and it's definitely a *very* impressive costume. Almost like one of those rubbery fully-covering-the-head costume mask things, but like it's his actual face?
Tumblr media
Is that tattoo real or fake, because I literally have never noticed it in any other Voiceplay video, but it's very realistic! (For that matter, what aobut Earl's upper-arm tattoo that kind of looks like a ring of barbed wire?)
Tumblr media
I basically watch the This Is Halloween opening scene from The Nightmare Before Christmas every October, and same with the What's This scene in December, but I had never actually watched the movie in full until December last year. So basically when they had the axe-in-the-head moment in the movie I was like ohhhhhhh so that wasn't just a random moment that Voiceplay dreamed up for the video! (I had a similar moment with the Mr Hyde character and his Mini Mr Hydes in his hat in the movie, but in relation to Voiceplay's Kidnap The Sandy Claws video)
Tumblr media
When Elizabeth Zharoff/The Charismatic Voice reacted to this video, she said that the kid at the end (Layne's nephew, apparently), was "adorable". Meanwhile Mortius' reaction to the end scene was "oh I didn't like that! It makes me feel like I'm next!" 😂
Also suddenly just realized that the "real world" scenes are in a different aspect ratio to the "spooky dream realm" scenes? Possibly intentional, but also possibly just due to them using two different types of cameras for the shots.
And that's a wrap! I was hoping to get this done and posted last night but it took longer than expected. Hope you enjoyed it, as I'm thinking of writing up at least one or two more now, and scheduling them for daily releases. See ya!

Chapstick Keychain Holders
Tumblr media
One of my favorite accessories I have ever owned is a leather chapstick holder I got for Christmas one year. It has a keyring so I can attach it to my keys and even bought a couple after to have as backup. So when I started to sew, I figured everyone would love a chapstick holder with a keyring, but... I have only sold one.
And believe me, I made quite a few of these...
Tumblr media
I even tried a different design the first time, which I really liked but couldn't remember how I did it!
Tumblr media
So as the year came to an end, I made a bunch matching wallets and chapstick holders for family members, who loved them. Here is one of the examples that I made. The fabric is flannel and was from left over PJ material that I had made our little cousins. But the other wallets and holders I created were made from cotton I bought from Hobby Lobby / Joann's or from fat quarters picked up from other stores in the area that sell fabric (Walmart, local stores, etc).
Tumblr media
After this, I decided to stick a digital item on my Etsy page to help people make their own chapstick holders. And it's ended up being a top seller of mine.
Tumblr media
This PDF I have created is for beginner and advanced crafters who are interested in a step-by-step tutorial on how to make the chapstick holder on their own. Not only does the document have the walkthrough, but the pattern is included as well.
Tumblr media
So far the feedback has been great regarding this PDF, so if you're interested in purchasing this tutorial, you can find it HERE.
If you're looking to check out the chapstick holders that I've created, you can find them in my Handmade Keyrings section.

What Are the Best Matching PJs for Christmas Family Photos?
Tumblr media
The holiday season is a time for creating unforgettable memories with your loved ones, and what better way to celebrate than by wearing matching PJs Christmas sets for your family photos? Whether you're snapping pictures by the Christmas tree, posing by the fireplace, or enjoying Christmas morning, matching pajamas bring a sense of togetherness and festive spirit to your holiday photos. However, choosing the right set of pajamas for these special moments can be a bit overwhelming, as there are so many styles, fabrics, and designs to consider. In this guide, we'll explore the best matching PJs Christmas options that will ensure your family photos are both memorable and stylish.
1. Classic Flannel Matching PJs for Christmas
Flannel pajamas are synonymous with winter warmth and holiday coziness. They are an excellent choice for family photos because of their timeless appeal and comfort. Flannel's brushed texture provides a soft and fuzzy feel, perfect for chilly Christmas mornings when you're gathering around to open gifts or lounging by the fire.
Why Flannel Works for Matching PJs Christmas:
Warmth: Flannel is perfect for colder climates, ensuring your family stays warm and comfortable while posing for photos.
Classic Holiday Look: The plaid or tartan patterns typically found in flannel pajamas evoke traditional Christmas imagery, making them ideal for capturing the essence of the holiday season.
Durability: Flannel is a durable fabric that stands up to frequent washing, making it a practical option for family pajamas that will last year after year.
Flannel matching PJs Christmas sets often come in a variety of designs, including red and green plaids, reindeer motifs, and festive stripes, offering something for every family’s style.
2. Cozy Fleece Matching PJs for Christmas
Fleece is another fantastic material choice for matching PJs Christmas photo sessions. Known for its soft texture and excellent insulation properties, fleece is perfect for keeping everyone warm, especially in colder weather. Fleece pajamas are also lightweight, making them a comfortable option for both lounging and festive photos.
Why Fleece Works for Matching PJs Christmas:
Ultimate Comfort: Fleece is incredibly soft and cozy, offering a plush feel that everyone in the family will love. It’s the perfect fabric for snuggling up during family Christmas photo time.
Versatility: Fleece pajamas come in various colors and patterns, from traditional Christmas motifs like Santa Claus, snowflakes, and Christmas trees to more neutral designs that can be worn beyond the holiday season.
Low Maintenance: Fleece is easy to care for and dries quickly, which is especially useful during the busy holiday season when you might need to wash pajamas more often.
For families who want both warmth and style, fleece matching PJs Christmas sets are an excellent choice.
3. Jersey Knit Matching PJs for Christmas
Jersey knit fabric offers a lighter alternative to flannel and fleece, making it ideal for families in warmer climates or those who prefer a more breathable option for their matching PJs Christmas. This stretchy, soft fabric is known for its comfort and ease of movement, making it perfect for families with active kids.
Why Jersey Knit Works for Matching PJs Christmas:
Breathability: Jersey knit is breathable, making it a great choice for families in warmer locations or those who don't need heavy pajamas for the season.
Comfortable Fit: The fabric’s stretchiness provides a relaxed and flexible fit, allowing everyone to move freely while posing for Christmas photos or participating in holiday activities.
Variety of Designs: Jersey knit pajamas are available in a wide range of designs, from classic holiday prints like snowmen and gingerbread cookies to fun, modern patterns.
If you're looking for a lighter, more breathable option for your family Christmas photos, jersey knit matching PJs Christmas sets are an excellent solution.
4. Satin and Silk Matching PJs for Christmas
For families looking to add a touch of elegance and luxury to their matching PJs Christmas outfits, satin and silk pajamas offer a sophisticated and glamorous option. These materials have a smooth, shiny surface that reflects light, creating a stunning effect in family photos.
Why Satin and Silk Work for Matching PJs Christmas:
Luxurious Feel: Satin and silk pajamas are incredibly smooth and feel luxurious on the skin. They’re perfect for families who want to create a more refined look for their Christmas photos.
Shiny, Festive Look: The shine from satin and silk adds a festive and celebratory touch to holiday photos, making it perfect for families who want a more formal, stylish look.
Lightweight: Satin and silk are lightweight fabrics, so they can be comfortable even if the weather is a bit warmer during the holidays.
Satin and silk matching PJs Christmas sets are perfect for families who want to capture a chic, elegant aesthetic for their holiday photos.
5. Customizable Matching PJs for Christmas
One of the most fun and unique options for family Christmas photos is to create matching PJs Christmas sets that reflect each family member’s personality. Customizable pajamas allow you to add names, monograms, or even special holiday messages to each set, making them personal and one-of-a-kind.
Why Customizable PJs Work for Matching PJs Christmas:
Personalization: Adding custom touches such as embroidered names or holiday quotes gives your pajamas a personal and meaningful element that makes family photos even more special.
Matching and Unique: While the pajamas are matching, the customization ensures that each family member’s personality shines through. For example, you could use different fonts or colors to differentiate between the parents, kids, and even pets.
Keepsake Value: Custom matching PJs Christmas sets make great keepsakes, as they hold sentimental value and can be treasured for years to come.
Customizable pajamas offer a fun way to make your family Christmas photos even more memorable and meaningful.
6. Seasonal Prints and Holiday Themes
When choosing matching PJs Christmas sets for your family photos, seasonal prints and holiday themes are always a great choice. Think about incorporating classic Christmas symbols like reindeer, Santa, snowflakes, Christmas trees, and candy canes into your pajamas. These designs instantly evoke the magic of the holiday season and help set the festive mood for your photos.
Why Seasonal Prints Work for Matching PJs Christmas:
Instant Holiday Spirit: Holiday-themed prints automatically bring out the Christmas cheer, making your family photos feel festive and joyful.
Timeless Appeal: Seasonal prints never go out of style, ensuring your family photos will always feel relevant and timeless.
Fun and Playful: Holiday prints like Santa hats, snowmen, and Christmas lights add a fun, playful element to your photos, which is perfect for capturing candid moments.
Whether you opt for traditional patterns or something more whimsical, seasonal prints make for great matching PJs Christmas sets that are sure to stand out in photos.
Conclusion
Choosing the right matching PJs Christmas set for your family photos is a great way to bring everyone together and capture the festive spirit of the holiday season. From cozy flannel and fleece options to breathable jersey knit and elegant satin, there are plenty of materials and styles to suit your family’s needs. Adding custom touches or seasonal prints can further personalize the look, making your family Christmas photos even more memorable. Whatever option you choose, the key is to ensure comfort, warmth, and fun so that everyone can enjoy their time together while creating lasting memories.
