I'm making the Isobel Wrap by OhKayKnits for my boss for Christmas because I love her and she loves scarves.
Tumblr media
This is my little swatch:
Tumblr media
What I'm noticing is that it's significantly narrower in the middle (knit-purl argyle: 2.3 stitches/cm) than at the ends (moss stitch: 2.1 stitches/cm). Is this because of my knitting or is it just a characteristic of those two stitch patterns? I'm assuming that the designer figured you can block out the difference (the pattern calls for a wool/alpaca blend), but I'm using acrylic yarn (Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted in Pine Green), so that's not an option. I figure when you're making something as a gift, the recipient shouldn't have to block it every time they wash it just to make it the right shape. So I'm adding a few increases and decreases. 🤞🏻

Download on Ravelry
These festive mittens are worked from the cuff up in stranded colourwork with two Latvian braids around the cuffs and a charming Amsterdam style townhouse design.

This year's christmas knit! The "Juniper Jacket" knit in Ask "Fløte" and "Du grønne glitrende", with "Bouquet"-buttons, all from Fabel Knitwear.
A 1930s and 1940s inspired jacket with festive colorwork.
I had to go up two sizes so that it would fit me and my guage. I am very pleased with it, but I learned that I have to loosen up when i knit. Definitely a New Years knit-resolution!
Merry christmas!

Alright, I'm on a roll with the Finished Objects with a pair of Spiralling Star Fingerless Mittens! I started these as Birthday Mittens, and apparently, though they made a cameo on Instagram and into a Patreon Behind-The-Scenes, I never actually posted them here?
Tumblr media
. . . I'm really not sure what to say about that, I could have sworn they were posted here.  ADHD strikes again, I guess?
But, my failure at social media scheduling aside, I do, in fact, have a Finished Object for FO Friday -- and, in an incredibly shocking turn of events, I have now completed Christmas Knitting in October (that's when I finished these) for the first time in my life.
It feels weird.
They weren't even originally Christmas Mittens. The were originally slated as Birthday Mittens, and, my giftee even saw the yarn I got from OddCat Yarns and gave her approval.  However, then, at the K-W Knitter's Fair, I saw absolutely gorgeous Dragon Pins from Dragon Strings.  So, those became the Birthday Gift, and the mitts got moved to Christmas.
 And now I've finished them!
Yarn, as I mentioned, is from OddCatYarns, it's their SW Merino/Nylon Sock yarn, in a wonderfully named colourway called "Gamma Ray"  They were done on my 2.75 mm Knit Picks Circular Needles, and, I do actually suspect I could have gone up one more needle size and been just fine. (Needle link is an affiliate link, meaning I make a commission if you make a purchase - don't worry, there's no additional cost to you!)
My giftee knows at least somewhat what's she's getting, so these should go over very well - she picked the yarn, and then it was a discussion between socks or fingerless mittens. I was told 'the yarn is too pretty to be hidden away as socks', so, after that, the choice was easy!
Now that these are done, I'm focusing on some sample knitting for an upcoming magazine; as well as some projects for submissions! Wish me luck!

And with that, my Christmas knitting is done!!!
This is for my younger brother’s girlfriend-she likes oversized sweaters so the sizing was tricky. I’m really happy with how it came out!
I used one strand of merino wool with two strands of silk mohair. It’s so light and fluffy but really warm-I hope she likes it.

Merry Christmas! This is mini sock #5 and I think I've finally figured out what I want.
This is actually a combo of two free patterns. The shape and gauge are from Tiny Tree Socks and the colorwork is from Mini Christmas Stocking Ornaments (adapted to be in the round and continuous).
I've gotten nothing but gasps of delight when giving them to people and they take me a couple of hours to make. If anyone needs a very late gift idea...

2020 Advent Stockings & Cross Stitch Ornaments
So, I knit the cute little stockings but my grandma made the ornaments for me as a child. I think she deserves a little recognition because she is and was my creative inspiration.

Ah, it's important not to catch that shimmer strand when doing the Kitchener bind off with Red Heart Comfort Shimmer yarn.

Another Christmas‐knit! The "Fuzzy Pixie Hood" knit in strands of Athena and Mohair Silk in the color "Juvel", tied together with a "Livia Button" from Fabel Knitwear.
A 1940s inspired hood, with a Norwegian fjord and winter landscape in the background.
Still a very merry Christmas to all!
