Swatched some stretchy cast-ons and bind-offs for 1x1 ribbing for a pair of leg warmers:
Left to right, top to bottom:
Alternating German twisted CO, sewn BO.
Double-tail long-tail CO (should have done alternating but didn't think of it), super stretchy crochet BO (basically Jeny's surprisingly stretchy BO but done with a crochet hook).
Latvian CO, Latvian BO.
Bulgarian CO, Kitchener/Italian BO.
I suspect I will go with swatch #4: the cast-on is pretty, and the bind off doesn't flare.

getting to know her ..... this is variegated cotton i think it'll be fun to make a top for summer but maybe that's a bit too heavy. maybe to protect the shoulders at least?
#i'll keep working on the swatch a bit and then see what can be appropriate#i also have a pattern for a flower themed crochet top i think thatd be really fun as well but uhm. i still need to figure out crochet#(and dont have the right size hook)#🌬️#🧶#NO WAIT i think my hook is the right size!!! ok trying that out later!!!

The Sims 2 to The Sims 3 - Simlish Hobby Posters | Arts and Crafts
It's been a while, but here's the next set of hobby posters by Sims in Low Space that I have converted to TS3. Download: SFS
Info and more pictures under the cut:
I apologize for not posting these sooner; admittedly, I did quite a few conversions a while ago but life got in the way and I didn't have much time for posting. I'm going to be catching up with posting everything and finally releasing the simblreen conversions publicly as well soon! This time around, it's arts and crafts. I just love these, I think they'd go really well in a room themed around Zoeoe's Knitting Mod, Lyralei's sewing machine, or a room for a stylist/architect office!
These are converted from the TS2 originals by Spacey at simsinlowspace.tumblr.com
Since these are TS3 posters, there is just one catalog entry for all twelve, with their swatches included. They are fully shiftable and are not recolorable, though they have one recolorable channel just in case. A note about SFS links: For some reason, the href.li prefix to the links for SFS are not redirecting properly for some. If this happens, remove that from the link or use the mirror.
Hobby Posters - Arts and Crafts Price: §50 | Location: Deco, Wall Hangings
Download: SFS | Mirror: MEGA

I really love your mods and I think you are the perfect cc creator to do this. I actually got this idea because of your "extra cross-Stitch patterns" mod. Do you think it would be possible to add more knitted options. I'm playing the sims decades challenge (1300s) and I'd love for my sims to be able to make some of their own clothes and objects but there are so few options because the swatches are dominated by bright colors that don't reflect the time period at all. Even if you could just add a few more muted swatches rather than making completely new stuff. (though new sweaters/objects would be appreciated I know you're great at cc). I have been scouring the internet for this and couldn't find anything. Help me Janesimsten you're my only hope.
Hey, this is a good idea! Recolors would be pretty easy to do too. 🧶

✨Proud make moment! ♥️ For the launch of our new Grange Aran yarn, tomorrow, I thought I would show y’all a bit of a preview of this yarn in action! I knit the #verdea by @mishi2x in the 🧶colorway: “Salted Pearl”, and I just couldn’t be happier! ✨I loved every stitch, BUT, obviously the cables are my favorite! I mean- Hello stitch definition! It’s still a bit chilly in our neck of the woods here in PA, but I can easily use this as a layering piece to function as a jacket, to keep off the brisk morning air. ✨I loved working with this yarn SO much, that I dropped everything and immediately swatched for a new sweater design! ✨Grange Aran is dropping on the website tomorrow at 12 PM EST, in our 20 new solid colors, and we will also have Salted Pearl in our offerings for those of you who want to knit one of these gorgeous cardigans of your very own. Grange Aran comes in 115 g (140 yds) skeins and 250 g (300 yd) skeins, so it is perfect for any heavy Worsted or Aran weight project. ♥️see ya tomorrow for the launch! #primroseyarnco #cableknitting #cableknit #cableknitsweater #knitting #knit #knitspiration #knittingpattern #handknitsweater #handmadewardrobe #memade (at Primrose Yarn Co.) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqGDRH6rOnE/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hey if anyone is interested in a new project I'm working on, I'm making swatches from one of my knitting books and listening to a new-to-me album or podcast while I do so and then rating them both. So if that sounds remotely interesting it's @anarchocraftism 🧶🎧

Bright whites are best avoided by Dark Autumns, ivory and cream are better choices, unless of course we want the outfit to be noticed before us 🤍 🍂 👀
Over the past several months, I have been sharing the few new items 🆕 that I purchased this year. This is one of those purchases, a cream-coloured, two-piece, crochet, crop-top dress 🧶
Swatched it with the Dark Autumn colour fan 🍂
I think I see harmony 😍

Welcome to my twisted stitches or whatever 🧶
The Point: Swatching my way through Vogue Knitting Stitchionary 2: Cables while listening to a new-to-me album or podcast, or watch a new video essay/show/film in the hopes that this makes life worth living a little more. Eventually I'm gonna sew them into a sampler blanket.
The Specs:
Each swatch will be knit using US 8/5mm needles and worsted weight acrylic yarn from my leftovers stash (unless noted otherwise)
Each swatch will begin and end with 2 rows of garter, with 2 garter selvedge stitches on each side. Otherwise size is variable, based on the pattern repeats and my patience. They will be blocked by an iron.
Media recs are either found randomly or from a long list of shit I've been meaning to try out.
There will be no particular schedule and I am not overthinking this bc overthinking is the mind killer. I just wanna make it thru the day and maybe little squares of knitting will help me do that.
My Credentials:
I've been knitting ~10 years, give or take
I'm already pretty good at and enjoy cables, so take that into account re: my ease level. I'm going to try being relatively objective but obviously my bias is that I'm not starting from scratch here.
I knit English flicking style so that also sometimes affects how easy something feels.

I'm preparing my April knitting. For being very diligent I gave myself the reward of swatching this yarn. Before I swatched I made a hand-wound ball so I could fully appreciate the way it was dyed and the colors. Mitch wondered if I had asked them to dye it to go with my hair and why I was winding it by hand. I know what this is going to be. I am gathering the information so I can make it happen. Yarn at link in bio. 🧶👩🎨🥳 #knittingswatches #knittedswatch #knitweardesignersofinstagram #knittingplans #yarn #knittinglife #alwaysknitting #knitter #knitting https://www.instagram.com/p/CqHRw7vJs4a/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Hey! Had a knitting question and thought I'd ask publicly in case other newbie knitters might benefit. I'm wanting to knit a hat that's mostly seed stitch but will have ribbing as the brim. I did a gauge swatch in the seed stitch for measuring, but I started wondering if the swatch should be in ribbing since that's the part that will really hug my head? In general, when a project has multiple types of stitch patterns in it, is there a general rule for which pattern the gauge swatch should be in to get the sizing right? Any advice is appreciated!
hello!!! happy to give advice here and open up replies to my other knitting mutuals in case anyone else wants to weigh in.
first of all, kudos to you for swatching a hat!
to answer your main question, if the pattern doesn’t specify gauge for multiple stitch patterns, assume that the stated gauge applies to the primary stitch. it’s best to wash and block your swatch the same way you plan to wash and block the garment. this will help you make sure it doesn’t “grow,” which is a particular risk of animal fibers like wool and alpaca.
in general, ribbing is meant to stretch significantly, and as long as you meet gauge for the seed stitch part then it’s unlikely that the ribbing will be off gauge to the point that it affects the fit of the hat. ribbing is typically a minor accessory to a hat or garment, and will look tighter than most other stitch patterns while also having the ability to stretch further!
i hope this helped! if you want to tag me in hat pics i would love to see them. happy knitting !! 🧶
#knitting#i want nothing more than to help everyone w. knitting questions thank u literally so much for asking

I'm making the Isobel Wrap by OhKayKnits for my boss for Christmas because I love her and she loves scarves.
This is my little swatch:
What I'm noticing is that it's significantly narrower in the middle (knit-purl argyle: 2.3 stitches/cm) than at the ends (moss stitch: 2.1 stitches/cm). Is this because of my knitting or is it just a characteristic of those two stitch patterns? I'm assuming that the designer figured you can block out the difference (the pattern calls for a wool/alpaca blend), but I'm using acrylic yarn (Premier Anti-Pilling Everyday Worsted in Pine Green), so that's not an option. I figure when you're making something as a gift, the recipient shouldn't have to block it every time they wash it just to make it the right shape. So I'm adding a few increases and decreases. 🤞🏻

How #doyoujessalu? 👀 :: Posted @withrepost • @blametheknots A day late and a donut 🍩 short. That’s how the saying goes, right?? Have you checked out @thelittlewolfknits donut preorder yet??? AND @thefrostedstitch has some donut yarn as well! 😍 It’s a little embarrassing how long I spent debating if I wanted to use my Luke’s mug or my Central Perk mug for the photo. 😂 🍩 Apple cider (obv) ☕️ was a gift, so idk where it came from 🧶 a swatch for @perfectlyknotted’s #professorpullover in @loopfiberstudio’s GORGEOUS yarn. (Spoiler alert: I also have Christa’s yarn on the way to make a second pullover, and trust me, you’re gonna want to see this new collection 😍😍😍) 👝 @stitchedbyjessalu from Rhinebeck! https://www.instagram.com/p/CkBQecFLegv/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The project / design that I am currently working on does not bring me any joy right now. I have not worked on it for days which is very, very unusual for me.🤷♀️ So, I am considering to frog it. But before I take that final step, I wanted to be sure that I know what I want to work on instead. In order to find out I made this swatch today. It is a half fisherman's rib in Knitting for Olive Merino and I really like it a lot. I think this could become a cardigan or a sweater. 🧶 I love both sides of half fisherman's rib equally. Do you have a favorite? 😍 #halffishermansrib #knitting #swatchknitting #knittingswatch #swatching #swatch #gaugeswatch #fishermansrib #projectplanning #knittingprojects #knittingprojectsplanning #knittingproject #herbgardenknitwear #knittingforolivemerino #merino #merinoyarn #merinoknit #merinoknits #knit #knittingmojo #knitterslife #knitknitknit https://www.instagram.com/p/CfCHVV0oABd/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I’m in love! I need to find some fairy lights! #tunisiancrochet 🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶🧶 RepostBy @wilmawestenberg: "Swatching Christmas lights✨ . When I saw the ‘knitting with Christmas lights’ trend, I knew I had to give it a try with my crochet hook. I wanted to make a top or shawl, but I don’t have enough lights and my country is in lockdown until January 19th.. Maybe next year😩😅 . If you’re a knitter, check out @leila_raven who started this trend and has kits & knitting patterns for these lights 😍" (via #InstaRepost @AppsKottage) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJM52QDAn0d/?igshid=r9hsym7rkv3r

Moar swatching
Patons Decor is 25% wool, so I have to assume it will shrink somewhat. I can't wash my swatch to find out how much, because I got the last two balls at my store, and the yarn has been discontinued, so I'm gonna need to frog this swatch to have enough yarn to knit my leg warmers.
I'm liking the gauge I got with my 5.5mm needles. If I knit the actual leg warmers with 6mm needles will that be enough to account for shrinkage?
