Pet Shop Boys Since 1984 x Duchess China

‘Pet Shop Boys since 1984’ is a new range of PSB-related products to commemorate 40 years since the release of Pet Shop Boys’ first record. To launch the new range, Chris and Neil and their long-term collaborators Farrow have designed this quintessentially British bespoke fine bone china tea set, manufactured by Duchess China.

The limited edition range consists of a tea pot, two cups and saucers, a milk jug and a sugar bowl, packaged in a bespoke box. Established in 1888, in Stoke-on-Trent, Duchess China are at the heart of the world ceramics and produce the highest calibre of fine bone china using the same traditional processes they have used for 135 years.

Each piece is hand finished and decorated, making this an extra-special product. Each set comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

My favorite OTH season is three. You get the Naley falling in love again, the Brooke finding herself story line, and even though I cannot watch it without sobbing the school shooting brought so much to the show. Plus Chris Keller was in a lot of it and my Tyler Hilton heart loves it. Peyton and her mom... so much good. You know I love every season differently, but season 3 just hits me in a way that the others dont.

New details about the updated release of Pet Shop Boys Catalogue (2006) are now available on the Thames & Hudson website. At the moment, it seems like this new version is tentatively coming out April 9th, 2024. It will include Catalogue's information in addition to all the visual material since 2006 up to 2024. It is titled Pet Shop Boys Volume.

It will be 560 pages with a new foreword and introduction alongside Philip Hoare's essay from Catalogue.

who are your top favorite fictional characters from the horror genre?

YES!!!

--Rosemary Woodhouse from Rosemary's Baby. Curse Roman Polanski directing this, because I do feel it's one of the finest horror movies ever made. I think what makes me love Rosemary is Mia Farrow's incredible performance (the final scene??? "What did you do to his eyes?" HER eyes when she sees the baby? One of the best expressions in cinema, she conveys the absolute horror and the scariest moment in the movie simply through her face.) I also really love her optimism initially, her desperation to make it through this, how jaded she becomes... and something about the fact that she ultimately falls victim to the societal forces she struggles against though the entire film is so tragic and so compelling at the same time.

--Grace Le Dolmas from Ready or Not. WHAT A FINAL GIRL. She's funny, she terrified, she's wounded, she's absolutely badass. All in a wedding dress! Delivers one of the best strings of expletives I've ever seen in any movie. Samara is such a mini scream queen, she needs to do more horror (and more in general).

--Ginger Fitzgerald from Ginger Snaps. I mean, I love a bad girl, I love a girl undone by her own transformation, I love a girl falling prey to forces beyond her control, I love a MONSTER girl.

--Chris Washington from Get Out. I recently rewatched Get Out for the first time in a while, and God, Daniel's performance is OUT OF THIS WORLD. And I really forgot how funny Chris is? The expressions, the sly smirks, the knowing even as he kind of denies his own suspicions? I really came away from the moving loving him s a character,

--Winona Ryder's Mina from Bram Stoker's Dracula. HEAR ME OUT. I hate Gary Oldman being Dracula in this, but Mina is so??? Funny? She like, sticks her tongue down Jonathan's throat before he leaves and is like "come back IMMEDIATELY so we can MARRY I am SUFFERING". She kisses Lucy because she just can't stand it and is obviously bi. She almost gets herself and everyone she knows killed because she needs to breastfeed from a vampire, even tho he isn't nearly hot enough for her. My CHAOTIC girl!!!!

The Dalemark Quartet by Diana Wynne Jones

This is technically four books together, but the copy I got was a library bound copy that my mom picked up at the university book sale when I was in 6th grade. It took me three years to read the whole thing because I was so annoyed that each book would end on a cliffhanger and then start with another whole cast of characters. But truly my favourite fantasy book, and my favourite author of all time

2. How to Hide and Empire by Daniel Immerwahl

One of my fav nonfiction books of all time, full of fascinating trivia and connections that all of my friends inwardly roll their eyes at me for repeating in nearly every conversation

3. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller

I had to read this for class in high school and I definitely was the only person who found it fucking hilarious. Nobody else that I talk to ever likes this book. Also I lent my copy full of pages and pages of notes to somebody and now it's LOST

4. Love You Bye by Scott Mills

Scott Mills the platonic love of my life. This is such an easy read and so clearly heavily ghost written but I love it so much because I am maybe perhaps Scott's number one fan.

5. Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

I read this last year and it's the first fiction book I have read in... maybe three years? I'm obsessed. I find fiction to be very boring right now but this series is DIFFERENT.

6. Love Thy Body by Nancy Pearcey

The rules said books that have "stayed with you in some way". There's no book that has made me more viscerally angry to read than this one. I hated it. She drew the most outlandish conclusions and made ridiculous leaps. 0/10 the only worse book is probably the one she just published.

7. Death to Deconstruction by Joshua Porter

A theology book that doesn't suck. My roommate bought this for me for Christmas and she got it SIGNED (Joshua Porter aka Josh Dies aka the lead singer of Showbread and the band I stanned before 1D). I read this over a series of weeks at Ikea over swedish meatballs.

8. Catch and Kill by Ronan Farrow

I keep saying that if there's one book I'd rec to Louis it would be this one. Goddamn Ronan is a good writer and it's so good to watch bad men go down.

9. The Black Tattoo by Sam Enthoven

I'm not actually sure this book is good? I tried rereading it a few years ago and I couldn't get through the first few chapters. But I read it for the first time around like 2012 and at the time it was everything to me. I drew weird black tattoos on everything for years.

10. Soft Lad by Nick Grimshaw

Another one I read over a progression of Saturdays at Ikea eating lunch. Both Scott and Nick were part of my foray into finding myself as an adult, choosing what I like and what I want to pursue. Unlike Scott's autobography (as Chris Stark pronounced it), this one definitely felt like it came straight from Grimmy's lips.

Rachel Forsyth Named Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year

We are resurrecting the Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year. We first named a High School Runner of the Year in 2001, Dathan Ritzenhein (Rockford HS) and the last year the award was presented was 2015-6 to Noah Jacobs.

This year we will award just the 1 award, 2023-4 Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year. Next year we hope to collect enough data to reasonably select awardees in Distance, Sprint/Hurdles, & Field. For the 2023-24 School Year Rachel Forsyth has been selected as Michigan Runner News High School Athlete of the Year. Rachel has had a stellar career running for Ann Arbor Pioneer HS. She was MHSAA D1 Cross Country Champion in 2021 and again her Senior year in 2023, blowing away the Event Record in 16:28.5. On the track Rachel won the MHSAA D1 2023 800m & 1600m then in 2024 won the 1600m along with winning the 3200m. She also contributed to Ann Arbor Pioneer HS winning the 3200m in 2023 and finishing in a close 2nd place to Holland West Ottawa (9:00.27 to 9:03.18) in 2024 where Rachel had the fastest split running the anchor leg in 2:09.40. On the national scene for 2023 Cross Country Rachel took 1st at the NXN Midwest Regionals & Foot Locker Midwest Regionals, then 5th at the Nike Cross Country Nationals Final & 3rd at the Foot Locker National Championships. More recently at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals she was 3rd in the Mile, at the Canadian U20 Championships 1st in the 1500m, and she brought home to Michigan the Silver Medal in the World Athletics Junior (U20) Championships in Lima, Peru representing her family’s homeland, Canada. Rachel comes from a family of great track athletes, both her parents and her sisters.
